Bush singled out in ‘blistering’ Katrina report:

“The 600-plus-page report [by a House select committee] lays primary fault with the passive reaction and misjudgments of top Bush aides…” the Washington Post reports. “Regarding Bush, the report found that ‘earlier presidential involvement could have speeded the response‘ because he alone could have cut through all bureaucratic resistance.”

This is another classic Bush administration’s incompetence and failure of initiative. Talking about national security.

  2. Clif says:

But they already had control of the oil in Louisiana and the gulf.

Then he went and played guitar with a country western star in San Diego on August 30, 2005. Don’t forget cool custom presidential guitar.

Then George Bush did a fly-by, because he wouldn’t want to be on the ground with the people looking up to him for leadership:

Then George Bush and Michael Brown got serious about hurricane Katrina on September 2, 2005, by posing in the helicopter hangar photo-op and saying “Brownie, you’re doin’ a heckuva job.”:

Then he posed for a photo-op in Jackson Square on September the 16, with his shirt buttoned crooked:

Bush: ‘We will do what it takes’
    http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/09/15/bush.transcript/

“To every person who has served and sacrificed in this emergency, I offer the gratitude of our country. And tonight I also offer this pledge of the American people: Throughout the area hit by the hurricane, we will do what it takes. We will stay as long as it takes to help citizens rebuild their communities and their lives. And all who question the future of the Crescent City need to know: There is no way to imagine America without New Orleans, and this great city will rise again.”

But, that hasn’t happened has it.

    Hurricane Victims Losing Hotel Rooms

NEW ORLEANS – Twelve thousand families left homeless by hurricanes Katrina and Rita will lose their federally funded hotel privileges Monday, the Federal Emergency Management Agency announced Saturday.

This will be the second wave of evacuees weaned off the federally-sponsored hotel stays within two weeks. Last week, the occupants of roughly 4,500 rooms lost FEMA funding for failing to register with the agency.

And we also find out from Michael Brown that:

Brown: I Warned White House As Katrina Hit

WASHINGTON – Former federal disaster chief Michael Brown, the face of the government’s listless response to Hurricane Katrina, said Friday he told top Bush officials the day the storm howled ashore of massive flooding in New Orleans and warned “we were realizing our worst nightmare.”

More defiant than defensive, Brown told senators he dealt directly with White House officials the day of the Aug. 29 storm, including chief of staff Andrew Card and deputy chief of staff Joe Hagin.

August 29th is when Bush was eating cake, not listening to Brownie.

    Yo Spudge_Boy,
What work you want credit for, EH??? PaLEASE. “You’ve been doing a great job here, Spudgie_Boy.” How’s ’bout that?

    AMERICA WAKE UP

Yes, Katrina response was weak at best, and does need attention. But right now, the BushCo is too busy selling our forests to pay for education. O.K.? The president’s got an agenda and he needs to remain focused on all the distractions that he creates.

    AMERICA WAKE UP

There is enough evidence to do him under.
Jimmy Carter has said that Bush is in violation of the law.
    Stay focused America.
    Stay on principle.
The termination of the BushCo Monarchy.

    AMERICA WAKE UP

We know the BushCo will not respond to cries. Our cries.
We are all but silent to his ears.
He has dismissed our Congress and Courts.
He has all but proclaimed himself, CAESAR.

    AMERICA WAKE UP

    Stay focussed.
The ills that hurt us do not make us stronger if we do not fight them.
Our Silence = Death to the American Democracy.

    AMERICA WAKE UP

Duffy objected to a leaked draft of an unpublished report, and said the White House is completing its own study. “The president is less interested in yesterday, and more interested with today and tomorrow,” he said, “so that we can be better prepared for next time.”

Once again we see that bush is saying he doesn’t give a squatt what Congress saids or does.

bush was celebrating the deaths of Americans once again. bush is a sniveling weak ass serial killer ,I wonder if he takes trohpy’s of every killing and gets them out late at night and slobbers over them?

Its time this jerk off with his boy chertoff is pit out of business!

Lets Roll America Lets Roll with Impeachment and Criminal Charges after that!

  11. RunningDogLackey says:

I think by “earlier presidential involvment,” the report is suggesting that hurricane relief would have been vastly better managed by an earlier president, say Clinton.

  12. Food on your Family says:

Brown said he bypassed Chertoff because of a personality conflict. He said he contacted associates of Bush aides. Expect Bush to blame Brown for not contacting Chertoff. Either way, iy goes back to this: If they were simply atching TV they would have known the severity of the situation.
    Bush played guitar
    Bush went to birthday parties

    While people drowned.

    #4 – Spudge_Boy,
Good post, but your calendar needs a kick or two. Some of your dates are about a year off or mine is fast.

  15. Southwest Bob says:

Time is not on Bushco’s side. While they continue to pander to the “base” most Americans are now aware that this clown is all about being in power and exercising that power in an unethical manner. If an issues doesn’t involve increasing the military or moving more money to the very wealthy, don’t expect George W. Bush to move very quickly.

  16. WaltTheMan says:

W is more concerned about Ariel Sharon than the American people. Scotty said W’s staff is keeping him current on Sharon’s condition.

  17. Spudge_Boy says:

    WaltTheMan,

Yeah, I just saw that. The last two should be February 5, 2006. As in yesterday. Heh.

  18. Clif says:

#4 Instead of Marie Antoinetts “let them eat cake” Bush said “Let us eat cake”.

  19. AvengingAngel says:

Not surprisingly, Michael Brown and FEMA seemed to do just fine with four hurricanes in the 2004 swing state of Florida, home of presidential brother Jeb Bush.

    For the details, see:
    “FEMA: Florida Election Management Agency.”

  20. Spudge_Boy says:

    Avenging Angel,

Bush would let his brother down just before an election now would he?

  21. Joanne says:

Everyone seems to forget the “Prez” was on vacation…why should he interrupt his vacation for thousands of people drowning? Do you would think we pay him or something?

Regarding Bush, the report found that ‘earlier presidential involvement could have speeded the response‘ because he alone could have cut through all bureaucratic resistance.”

But Mama Wapo(!), he [Bush], didn’t WANT to cut through the red tape…. He wants ta own NO. It’s now his bright shiney new toy! New Real Estate. All properly condemned. All controlled by economic engineering.

Like Carlyle profits by taking over sometimes failing companies and canabalizing them and selling off bits and pieces for profit before spitting out the bones, New Orleans is just one more victim of their free[-for-all] market.

Please Mama Wapo, when are you gonna do the reporting on Daddy Warbuck’s strategy? When are you gonna do the reporting on the Big Daddy’s destructive bullying?

Please Mama Wapo… Please Mamo Wapo…

    Oh ferrrrrrrgetit!
