[...] I knew you were really just a bitch in wolf’s clothing. Sen. Chuck Hagel has been all talk lately, questioning the war in Iraq, and standing firm against the NSA wire-tapping. But when push came to shove (ie. Cheney came knocking) Hagel wouldn’t even allow a motion to vote whether to start an investigation into the wire-tapping. Yesterday, when it counted, both Senators folded. Sen.
Re Hagel 'caving' in... It's important to note that the motion to adjorn is just a temporary procedural vote. Gives Hagel and Snowe time to work out a compromise. A vote however, will take place at the next intel business meeting no matter what. That's when we'll really see what will happen.

Also it's important to note that Senate Intelligence Committee investigations are basically worthless and untimely. Remember phaseII of the Iraq Prewar intelligence and the march to war? They haven't even completed that --- and remember, Roberts promised to finish it after the Dems/Reid raised a fuss with the Senate closed-session in the Fall.

Vote them all out, but Conyers, Feingold, and a few others. All R's thirst for power and most D's just cave. The only REAL articles come from the internet as the MSM are worthless for the truth and just add their spin. Unreal how far this country has fallen is 5 years. Can it tolerate another three before everything is "privatized" for the profits of Bush/Cheney/cronies. The elite reap billions, and the average American can hardly pay their fuel bills. There will be serious revolt unless policies change (or Americans become more apathetic). Hard to believe Congress is in lock-step with all Bush proposes. War, torture, renditions, Gestapo Supreme Court judges, all furthering their agenda. That bodes not well for civil liberties or rights provided by the Constitution. Also, look at the damage caused to the environment by an "administration" who always backs polluters (especially big corporations). He is a madman who is out of touch with reality. He is a mere puppet for a much larger cause, just as Reagan was. It is our government, elected by the people (supposedly). We are killing innocent Iraq civilians and consider them "collateral damage". Bush/Cheney do not know war. They are willing to send our sons and daughters , but, of course, never served in war themselves, when they could. They trash the Constitution and try to undo all the good of FDR and LBJ, (social nets that Bush is destroying). He wants to open borders and drive American jobs lower while overburdening all education and health care. What the hell is going on? This "war on terror" is bogus. I would rather retain my civil rights than be afraid everyday that some "insurgent" will be trying to bomb me. Bush fuels the insurgency just by being there. What is the sense of one more American or Iraq dying? Yes, for Bush's oil. He has made us more dependent on oil in the past five years. He owns gas and oil stock, why would he want to change? With Diebold controlling the voting machines and has been proved it is easy to hack, it is apparent how the elections are won. Look at 2000. Gore won the popular vote, If they would have counted ALL precincts in Florida he would have won. I hope Americans wake up soon, because there are dire consequences and millions of lives in the balance. By the time Bush is found out for what he really is, his minions of Alito and Roberts will keep continuing to serve the remainder of their lives. There is no opposition. I used to be a proud Democrat, and a liberal, but I feel abandoned as not many stand up for my views. The whole damned party has swung to the right. Thanks for listening.

Marty "Behavior says everything about what intentions exist. Not wanting to allow a probe into what appears to be criminal activity, certainly means more are involved — look at those who are trying to stop the probe."
That would be every Republican in Congress, as of today.
One-party rule. Ain't it great?

Bush has his base of 40%. He has the house, the senate and the judiciary.

Believe it or not folks, that is all he needs. The good old USA and the amurkan people are screwed through and through by a man who is unpopular, nuts, ignorant, with an I the same as his shoe size and there is not a damn thing you can do about it.

One light in the forest. The elections are coming up. It is the only way to defeat him, at the ballot box and hope like hell Diebold is not looking.

Can the american people sue congress for not doing their job? Or can we sue for them not acting as a seperate but equal branch of government? Is there rules in place stating that the Executive office can NOT lobby or influence congress?

As long as the Excutive branch is allowed to twist arms and and turn our democracy into a bribery fest I’m afraid that the laws wont matter anymore.

Does anyone know if these actions are against the law or ethics or anything?

According to the latest CNN/Gallup poll most Americans think Bush didn’t bread the law. Liberals are losing on this issue. Time to give it up.

Republicans in Congress are Chicken Sparrows being led by Chicken Hawks. Eventually, the label 'Republican' will be synonymous to the label 'Tory'- the same kind of traitorous people our that the Founding Fathers had to deal with 250+ years ago.

Putting party above the Constitution is treason to the America I have come to know and love. Honorable Republican Senators and Representatives should be carrying out their Constitutional powers uncompromisingly in their pursuit of Executive oversight. I fear the Bush Administration has blighted our bodypolitik beyond democratic recognition, and any law-abiding legislator or jurist who acquiesces to such Executive ascendancy is complicitous as we bare witness to the malodorous transition into an authoritarian state. Vote the Rascals out early and often in '06 and '08. -Kevo
