Libby Using Cheney To Raise Money For Legal Defense Fund

Today, Scooter Libby launched a new website – ScooterLibby.org — to raise money for his legal defense. Here is the banner that runs across the top:

Of course Cheney wouldn’t have any problem with Libby disclosing classified information to reporters. He was the one who ordered Libby to do it.

The site also contains endorsements by President Bush, Paul Wolfowitz and Brit Hume. Make sure to sign up for e-mail updates.

    Incredible.

  2. Citizen80203 says:

Can’t he just start a PAC? It seems to have worked well for Ricky.

  3. Badmoodman says:

Considering how apologetic Harry Whittington was for putting his body in front of Shooter’s gun blast, why doesn’t he just offer Scooter some pro bono work?

  4. unbelievable says:

    Incredible. Absolutely incredible.

  5. mr ho says:

Bush will likely Pardon the Guy when he leaves office. Why is Libby even worried about a Defense Fund?

  6. mr ho says:

if Libby is a Capable Lawyer wouldnt he Defend himself?

Where’s the endorsement from Joe Wilson?

  8. Jay Randal says:

GOP support for a known traitor like Scooter Libby is putrid! Cheney needs Libby because without him he shoots old guys in the face while hunting quail > lol.

  13. Jay Randal says:

I do not think it is ethical for the president to lend his support to Libby since he willfully outed a covert CIA agent! This does prove that the Bush Regime is 100% NUTS!

  14. THOT'S n TN says:

after I went to the website of the scooter boi I found out that you can give unlimited Dollars .. Very Lobbyist like if you ask me ..

The Trust may accept unlimited personal and corporate contributions.
Contributions to the Trust are not tax deductible.
Contributors to the Trust should consult their own tax advisors regarding any potential gift tax consequences.

Ok so who wants to kick in 10,000 or a 1,000 per month on their Visa,Master Card or Amer Express …

Just look at it as democratic campaign tools. They are so evil, it makes for great posters.

Don’t forget that under the “Presidential Theory of Everything”, the Vice President has the inherent authority to de-classify any top secret material he deems fit, at the time, then re-classify, then de-classify, then…

  17. bluefish says:

I wonder if there are gifts for different levels of giving. You know, give $500 and get a box of M&M’s with the seal of the Vice President stamped on it. Give $1000 and get a T-Shirt that says, “I helped my boss commit treason and all I got was a lousy court date.” And maybe $5000 gets you a hunting date with the VP.

Interesting cast of Characters down the left side of the Libby site, one jumped out at me in particular, Spencer Abraham the former non-functioning Sect of Energy, and former (losing in 2000) congressman from Michigan. A pasty (not a typo, I’m formerly from that state…) of former Gov. John Engler. I watched them gut the state before losing office, leaving a huge budgetary deficit. We can expect the same situation shortly on a national level as the Gop takes the money and runs.

  22. Jay Randal says:

Yes post 16 Citizen > Cheney runs the US government, so Dubya is just the puppet boy king on prozac! Even Orwell never predicted “Big Brother” would be a certified idiot!

  29. thehim says:

For those who aren’t familiar with Mel Sembler, the man whose name is at the top of the Advisory Committee list and has been leading up the defense fund, you can read about his history here. He set up a chain of “drug rehab clinics” which were essentially child-torture facilities. There are numerous accounts of abuse and torture from the survivors of the program linked from that page. Also, this is far from being far-left overdramatization as it was first reported on by Radley Balko at Fox News. Fox News removed Balko’s column without explanation, but an archived version can still be seen here.

  30. Rio de los Ladrones says:

The quote by ol’ “one beer” is great, it just doesn’t specify what his talents and capabilities are……. but to quote the li’l scooter hisself, “the aspens are all connected at their roots…….”
Ashes, ashes, they all fall down…….

  31. Jay Randal says:

Post 25 David > yes Animal House movie denotes the Bush Regime too, but which actor portrayed Bush in that movie? I think Cheney was portrayed by Belushi > lol.

  32. Rio de los Ladrones says:

I don’t know the actor, but I do know the character, please keep the live ammo away from the commander in cheif…

  33. dlet says:

    Talented and capable….maybe.
    Honest and law-abiding…not so much.

  34. .. says:

The Bush crowd is exactly like the Omegas, next door to The funloving Deltas. You know the Omegas, with President Gregg, they love to dish out homo erotic punishment and are freaked out by sex,.(Hand jobs with rubber gloves, can’t get off etc), in the ROTC, control freaks ,liars, jelous of those who are individually free, angry,…fags.

  35. jparker says:

Email updates, eh? Will I get an email when he’s ‘turned out’ in the penitentiary for a pack of smokes? I’m guessing you don’t want a name like “Scooter” out in the Yard.

“Grab hold of my pocket, Scooter”

    LOL

  36. Jay Randal says:

You are correct post 34 the Bush crowd are more like Omegas in Animal House movie! President Gregg you mention is very much like Dubya > homo erotic sex turns Bush on > remember Jeff Gannon the male escort?

  37. r says:

Love how that banner has the same background colour and same typeface as the PNAC website; very apropos. Geez, is there like only one neocon web designer that all these guys must use?

  38. Pete Bogs says:

that quote across his banner is certainly from a reputable source…

  39. John Gorenfeld says:

I wrote a story for AlterNet on Mel Sembler here.

  40. David says:

31- I’m thinking Bush would be either Bluto or Pinto. Cheney? D-Day. Great at destroying things and the “whereabouts unknown” fits him to a tee. Scotty as Flounder, anyone?

Anyone that goes by the name Scooter is far beyond the kind of help I can give him. Besides that, who cares what Scooter does, or did or will do besides the moonbats?

  42. Fatty bin Laden says:

Scooter would only be an issue for the wingers if he’d been pulling this kind of stuff as chief of staff for VP Gore. Actually, all the democratic version of Libby would have needed to do is use taxpayer money to replace the batteries in the whitehouse pencil sharpener and it would have been headline news for days on FAUX, MSGOP, Corporate News Network, etc.

    And a certain prosecutor.

  44. dano347 says:

This probably being run like Cunningham’s scam; if someone contributes, say, five thousand dollars to the fund they know you’re a “true believer”, and they send a list showing how much continued “support” buys.

    Slush-fund-a-go-go.

  48. ElectricBassPlayer says:

If they support Libby without embarrassment, with a feeling of impunity, then clearly they believe the law doesn’t really apply to them. I get the impression this is all a show for the legal representatives of the masses (ie, district attorneys, federal prosecutors, etc., who aren’t Neocons) while they coexist in their shadow society, safe, secure, rich, and powerful.

Oh pumpkin, I know that republican partisans only give lip service to national security because their leaders tell them to, but many of us actually care about the topic. And when someone like Scooter undermines our national security and then tries to cover it up – that’s important to us. I forgive you for not caring about our security, or america’s well being. It seems to be the current symptom of republican partisan values of late. Maybe you guys will overcome your partisan brain and realize you’re selling yourself out and ask for forgiveness someday. But until that happens, I forgive you for your actions. Those who suffer from the compromised partisan brain are just not accountable for their actions as a normal person is.

  52. FuzzFlash says:

With Jerkshot&Junior endorsing Scooter on his website, two key points emerge. First, this places Fitzgerald and DoJ under maximum pressure in the court of public opinion. Second, It also puts maximum pressure on Scooter to ensure that even on treacherous slopes, clustered aspens continue to fall near their roots.

No, no you don’t. The Filthy Left are treasonous ratbastardcommiemofos who aid and abet our enemies. Your democratic presidents like Carter and Clinton sell us out for votes. Your congressmen and women travel to the ends of the earth to undermine our military. WTF? If it weren’t for my majority share in ACME Hemp and RazorWire, LTD and the fact that I know one day soon we’ll get a huge conservative government contract I’d really, really hate you people. But as it is you are just sort of potential customers, so to speak.
