We have to remember that Bush and the Arabs have been friends for years. This was one of many on the “to do list”. When Bush took the oath of office, he swore to fold the constitution and put it in his pocket.

Right on #50,JoJo, Time is of the essence! Impeachement takes to damn long! They MUST be arrested ASAP by either FBI and/or U.S. troops and NOW! And I also agree that him and cohorts were behind and involved in 9-11 and are planning more attacks on U.S. and are in bed with the REAL terrorists too! I.E. Saudi's and Bin Laden and AlQueda too! I believe the worldwide "war on terrorism" is bogus! And meant to suppress people in their own countries while Big Business and tyrannts like Bush rip the masses off! While war profiteering and war crimes and also using fear and lies to manipulate the public and also use our poor troops to invade countried like Iraq to steal their oil and lie about it and murder not only our G.I's but also innocent Iraqi's too, all the while being in bed with the REAL TERRORISTS, i.e. Bin Laden and AlQueda and UAE and also Saudi royal Family who funnel$$ to terrorists! We MUST stop the sale of those 22 ports and NOW! And STOP IT NOW AND HAVE CONGRESS VOTE IT DOWN TOMORROW,WHEN IT BECOMES FINAL! AND OVERRIDE HIS VETO, TOO! DEMAND THEY VOTE ON IT TOMORROW AND VOTE THE GODDAMN THING DOWN AND NOW! THEN OVERRIDE HIS VETO! AND HAVE THEM ARRESTED FOR TREASON!

[...] Interestingly, Dubai Ports World is winning kudos from the mainstream media (and the White House) for volunteering to this second due dilligence even though the law governing this Department of the Treasury body required a 45-day investigation in the first place, since DPW is a state-owned company (see: Forbes article by Jessica Holzer, published on 02/23/06). More telling is the fact that a swift, 30-day government approval was finalized first time around without the President of the United States, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of State, or the United States Congress, for that matter, being in the loop. Stunningly, in this age of much ballyhooed economic globalization, assistant secretaries, sitting on obscure, secretive committees, are quietly making decisions involving America’s post-”9/11″ strategic security interests.
The notion of a mandetory 45 day investigation is false, as is any criteria. Exon-Florio provision establishes the need for a review to last no longer that 30 days. It also provides guidance for the triggering of an extended investigation, and sets a maximum time for the investigation at 45 days. It does not require an intestigation to last 45 days ad the premise of this discussion falsely claims. In fact the Exon-Florio regulations clearly specify the mits of their domain:

"The Exon-Florio regulations do not define national security. The preamble to the regulations provides guidance that products, services and technologies important to U.S. defense requirements would be significant to national security."

Mr. Bush, I think that most of your decisions so far

have been, what you feel, is the best for our country. But,

I also think that if you allow our ports to be protected by

a foreign country such as this, I have wasted my vote for

a man that I thought would stand "beside her and guide her".

Look within our own country and find people to protect

our ports. Please, Mr. Bush, think what terrible terrorism we are

opening ourselves up to take place in The United States of

America.

The response to this post of Judd's, only three days old, seems to indicate widespread, no pervasive, concern over giving away valuable national assets. This has been going on for some time (jobs, gold, Panama Canal, etc) and we have never even slowed it down with all our protests. The blog by Seixon, #99 provides a great view of the legality of this port deal, but when has legality ever stood in the way of gain? Rep. Ron Paul, always a sensible voice, gives an overview of financial empire maintenance in his report "The End of Dollar Hegemony" (find it at Rense.com or wwwhouse.gov/paul/legis/shtml), the point being that the dollar must be propped up at all costs to hide its destruction through inflation.

This deal has no doubt been in the works for a while and in the back rooms where such agreements are made perhaps the control of ports was required as a price for UAE and Dubai's assistance in the unpleasantness about to unfold in Iran. Such a sine qua non is also not unheard of.

Not very long ago (the 70's or 80's) merely mentioning the term New World Order or globalization would brand one as a conspiracy theory nut case, a smear intended to blunt dissention. At that time to suggest a deal like this, or even the invasion of Iraq, would have seemed too far out for even the most wild-eyed radical to accept and yet here we are. We are "addicted to oil", our economy dependent upon Asia and the Middle East for products and energy as well as the support of the US dollar.

It is unlikely that Europe will support Asian industrial growth the way the US can, or that they will consume oil and gas as freely as we do. Somewhere, someone will try to keep American money flowing to these places, such money's value or lack of value notwithstanding. It remains to be seen how well we survive the assured strain on our economy, stress which is already being endured by Americans largely unaware of why they just cannot make ends meet anymore.

it's all about daddy bush and Carlyle Group.....UAE put big bucks into Carlyle takeover/ hedge/asset play funds and now daddy has instructed the u.s. govt to give a gift to one of their large investors....at the same time setting us up for "Burn down the Reichstag Part Deux" or "Pearl Harbor II" or "The 911-everyone knew about it except us middle class losers toiling for a living....gee, wasn't it nice of Warren Buffett to have a barbeque out in Nebraska on a Tuesday so I don't have to be in my 105th floor WTC office as a Boeing 757 is directed into it by remote control Blues."
Then Condi(presidential material not)can

So we can also assume that FDR let Pearl Harbor happen so as to get the U.S. into WW2?

[...] Bullshit. This is absolute bullshit. We have been so concerned about a nuclear weapon being smuggled into the US via the Canadian or Mexican border, and now we’re pretty much creating an opening via seaports for this potential calamity. This is the inconsistent application of national security rules and regulations that is tantamount to federal law enforcement wire-tapping it’s citizens without a proper warrant. There wasn’t even a proper investigation beforehand! [...]

This nut feels that the US gov't was directly involved. It was the "Pearl Harbor" that the neo-cons were looking for. Remember, their "vision" is of a globalist view with all the $ lining their pockets. If there wasn't money in it for the Bush crowd, it wouldn't have happened. It's about money, power, and access. Unless Bush is impeached, we will certainly be subjects not citizens. Nixon scared me, but with Bush I have abject fear.

Compare what is known about UAE to what was known about Iraq that was grounds for going to war. How come filmsy is ok to go to war and solid is not grounds to see a national security risk? Comparison is the key to showing the bias and danger.

Also, what about the future? If things get rougher with Iran, and war/police actions occur, then where will UAE lean? What are known positions of UAE regards Iran, and regards funding Hamas goverment of Palestine? And UAE's vulnerability to attack by Iran could become another vulnerability for us, especially if records are kept there without being available in the US (& subject to US courts too.)

Also, forget secuirty, what about the UAE's ability simply to cause a slowdown of all ports they control. That alone could put a huge monkey wrench in our economy!!

How much more nonsense will Americans endure before the
spinless Congress calls for the total Bush regime inpeachment. Everyone claims to be a loyal patroit but, allows the continuation of crimes to be comitted by the
greatest violator of the Constitution to continue to
occupy the office of The President of the United States.
The short answer is , the American Public has been dumbed
down to the point where they are more concerned about
" who won on American Idol " or who's doing who in Hollywood and Sports . When America ( Wakes Up ) it will be too late.
