    To hell with Texas.

Texas Republican politicians are the bane of this nations existence. Corrupt and lousy, everyone of them.

Barton, kiss my fat Yankee ass.

  2. afterthought says:

Think we can get Mexico to pay us for Texas
or would we have to pay them?
Maybe put it on Ebay. Best to make sure
“Commander Codpiece and his Lost Neuron Airheads”
    are part of the deal.

  3. Jeff says:

#2 I don’t think Mexico would buy Texas from us with all those strings attached.

GOP is just complete scum. Try to kick in the nuts the one company trying to help the poor.

Attacking those aiding the poor, isn’t that what Jesus would do?

  4. Spudge_Boy says:

    Joe Barton is a doofuss.

I am sure the real reason is that Citgo is the Venezualan company that told Bush to “Go fvck himself” ala Dick Cheney.

  5. Optimist says:

We will not be judged on how we treat our elite, but how we treat the least among us. As such, the judgment at the moment would not be favorable.

What is most shameful is not the fact that our nation’s poor are being ignored, but that the nation of Venezuela stepped up to intervene and provide aid to OUR OWN CITIZENS on OUR OWN SOIL.

The shame upon this nation is unprecendented. For all you bush supporters, re-read the first sentence of this post. May your god have mercy upon your soul.

  6. Clif says:

Texas oilmen screwing anybody, and everbody in the world they can, just to make a bigger buck, and using taxpayer money to finance it, who would have thunk it?

  7. Zookeeper says:

Barton is a half-wit. Damn those poor people wanting to stay warm! Damn the generosity of Citgo!

  8. Dem02020 says:

I don’t imagine they burn much ‘home heating oil’ in Texas, so what does anybody in Texas care about the price for that oil, other than that it stay as high as possible for as long as possible.

I don’t guess they burn much of it down in Venezuela either. They also have an interest in the high price of oil; and yet they offer millions of gallons this winter to low-income People in the northeast at a discount.

Call it what you like, but it’s hard to see evil, or anything even bad, in offerering discounted ‘heating oil’ to low-income folks during a winter of record oil prices, and record oil profits.

    Sounds almost Humanitarian, even Christian.

Unlike greed and hate down in Texas.

  9. bushllit says:

Can we see this on Sunday Morning News Shows??

    Please!!!

  10. mr ho says:

    This is silly.

Texas homes dont use heating oil for the most part.

It doesnt get that Cold and their are few basements

We have had one of the Warmest winters I can remember.

The Price of OIL should be dropping.

The God of these neo-con Politicians is Money and they could care less about the People they promised better living condtions.

You need be taken to the Woodshed Mr Barton.

You should know better than to put profit before mankind.

  11. mr ho says:

Cmon Guys I live in Texas. And I agree with you.

Please stop this One rotten Texan egg makes all Texans hateful stuff.

Its not True and your allowing your Bias of one person skew your Image of Millions who arent like Mr Barton.

  12. Granite State Destroyer says:

    Mr. Ho,

Barton, Delay, Bush, Bailey-Hutschison, Rick Perry, Cornhole Cornyn…The list is endless.

Texas Republicans are a pox on the nation.

    -GSD

  13. afterthought says:

We are just kidding mr ho, but some
really creepy thing have crawled out of Texas
    lately:
    GWB
    Rove
    DeLay
    Barton
    Abu G.
    .
    .
    .

Maybe y’all are just on a bad run.
There are plenty of good folks everywhere,
so don’t take the kidding seriously.
    We live in strange times.

  14. THOT'S n TN says:

Hey put his phone number in Texas and Washington and lets flood his voice mail. I’m really tired og seeing the genocide of the poorest people taking place in the Kingdom of Lost…

  15. Spudge_Boy says:

More on the culture of corruption:

    Via Crooks & Liars:

    http://www.crooksandliars.com/2006/02/24.html#a7281

“Mitchell Wade of MZM — the guy who bribed Duke Cunningham — apparently made illegal campaign donations to two other members of Congress…”

“Wade also steered $78,000 in illegal contributions to the re-election campaigns of Reps. Virgil Goode (R-Va.) and Katherine Harris (R-Fla.) during the 2003-04 and 2005-06 election cycles. Neither lawmaker was aware that Wade was reimbursing other donors for making those contributions, according to the criminal information document.”

Katherine Harris corrupt? Say it isn’t so. Scumbags all of them.

  17. west virginia hillbilly says:

Look at the fingers pointing to the direction this country is headed. I think I’ll use my thumb and hitch a ride out of here.

  18. Gitme_Outtahere says:

Misery is having “Asthma” Joe Barton as one’s Congressdolt. Having just seen his first reelection billboard, I burned a U-turn and headed for the liquor store. Y’all have any idea how humiliating it is to be represented in Congress by, to paraphrase Zonker Harris, a “Nationally Know Idiot?”

  19. G.W.SuperChrist says:

Hey guys, enough of the anti-Texas sentiment. There are a lot of good Texans, Ronnie Earle for instance, and a lot of evil SOBs that come from places other than Texas. These people are not Ass-Holes because there from Tx they are just Ass-Holes. Besides they would have very little power if the nation as a whole had not elected the head A-hole. We are all in this mess together.

  20. Clif says:

#18 I guess the only thing more humiliating would be having the leader of your nation considered an idiot by the majority of the people of this planet……hey wait a minute, got another glass?

  21. LC Liberal says:

Hey, I don’t see ExxonMobil doing anything like this with their $$$Billion dollar profits.

    lcoliberal.blogspot.com

  22. Gary Kleppe says:

Besides they would have very little power if the nation as a whole had not elected the head A-hole.

The nation didn’t elect that particular a-hole. The Supreme Court did.

We didn’t elect him the second time, either. That blame belongs to Ken Blackwell, Diebold, ES&S, and various other cronies.

  23. Pete Bogs says:

oh yes, an investigation of this would not be any kind of waste of the government’s time… Jesus…

  24. THOT'S n TN says:

Citgo has Gas Stations in almost every State. I have switched from BR/Mobil to Citgo if Americans would switch that may drive some of the cost down. I drive a little farther for my gas but I got so tired of putting my money so these neo cons can wine and dinne that bastard in Washington Dc/Crawford Texas.

  25. For Truth says:

See what a place with oil can do. The domestic terrorists are out of Texas, the don-domestice are from the middle east.

  26. Howdy Neighbor says:

There’s so much hot air coming out of the Dumb Struck State they can’t imagine anyone having a hard time keeping warm in the winter.

  27. For Truth says:

    #13,

You forgot Linden Johnson, (I know he was a Dem), but I feel there is no real difference in the big pic between Dems and Repubs, they are all decendents of the same blood. It’s royalty, privilage, blood lines, keeping the extended family members in control. The different family members being Dem or Repub, is like saying chocolate or vanilla ice cream, but they all like ice cream.

  28. For Truth says:

Old time cowboys, mixed with oil, is the problem, not a specific party. Placed with oil become taken over by the power and greed. If oil was worthless, these places would be no-where with no-one.

  29. For Truth says:

Maybe Chavez is just doing PR, to make certain others look bad, I think making a small sacrifice to expose the greediness is fine. How dare someone give up some of thier own profit to look good.

  30. Zookeeper says:

#10 – Mr. Ho, read the article. The program was set up for the poor in the Northeast.

I know you’re not one of “those” Texans. My sister lives in Corpus Christi, so I know you’re not all bad!

  31. Howdy Neighbor says:

I’m recalling 5 or so oil company heads who skated thru Congressional hearings recently without having to testify under oath, and even more recently a half dozen oil companies who refused to testify before congress at all!
I don’t even need to ask why this particularly noisesome goat head is picking on Citgo.

  32. THOT'S n TN says:

I think Chavez is pointing out something that no one else is.

Oil just ain’t that expensive .Look at what is happening in that country.

Big Oil has always been greedy drunks.

  33. JIMBO says:

The only good things to come from Texas…

    Natalie Maines
    Stevie Ray Vaughan
    The Fabulous Thunderbirds
    Austin’s Music scene
    Austin Film Festival
    San Antonio Spurs
    Eva Longoria
    Ann Richards

There are some more, I’m sure. Of course, unless you’re Ann Richards, the political elite from are the only bad things to come from that state. But you know those politicans, they love to spend, spend, spend.

  34. TJM says:

It would be nice to think that Chavez did it from a spirit of charity instead of as a sharp stick in the eye of the government. What’s the saying, though, beggars can’t be choosers?

  35. JIMBO says:

I think,I’m gonna find a Citgo gas station in PA, too.

  36. Optimist says:

I’m not a bible-thumper or an apocalyptic end-of-worlder but I do buy into “false prophets” being judged by their deeds and not their words. In that vein, what Chavez has done here is indisputably a “good deed” towards humanity.

bush and, unfortunately, the majority of the republican crew have used catch phrases and clever sound-bites to divert attention while they rain down pain, suffering, and death upon MILLIONS of the inhabitants of this earth, including our own citizenry. How long will the USA allow this travesty to continue?

  37. piltdown says:

I’m way up in Minnesota, don’t get no heating oil from CITGO, but they do have gas stations up here. After reading this article, I’ll be buying ALL my gas from Citgo.Screw Exxon/Mobil. Citgo gets my buck!

  38. Zimzone says:

#37, I’m with you. As a Minnesotan we do have long, cold winters & people need help. I’ll be looking for a Citgo station on my next fillup, just because Chavez & Venezuela are doing something good. Christ, Exxon blew a gasket when somebody suggeted they weren’t ‘deserving’ of the $7B+ windfall from the Feds. Barton…blow me.

  39. Marie says:

Betcha Barton makes sure to sing the hymns real loud on Sunday morning.
What is it about these rich oil bastards who think they can/should control the world and keep everyone else who isn’t into “oil money” in their proper place?
The Citgo deal was a slap at Bush by Chavez and it was helpful to people in the northeast who were having to choose between food and heat.
We should check Barton’s financials, as well as his cronies to find the real crimes.

  40. Insurgents Laughing at Bush says:

Joe Barton is a grade A goober. I invited him to spend the day with me on an Air Pollution Level Red day in Dallas. I wanted to see his hair spray and eye liner melt onto the asphalt.

  41. Howdy Neighbor says:

Anyone remember the Bugs Bunny cartoon where he sings ‘Home on the Range’ Texas style?
You can find it easy enough by typing in

  46. trueblue says:

    Wow.
I guess I should be ASHAMED to have received one of those them-there letters offering me a break one ONE delivery of oil.
Hell. I get 600.00 per month. Well, not just for me,WOO, that’d be a laugh. For me AND my kid. 7200.00/ yr.
That’s all one adult and one kid should get, right?
That’s not even GVT $$. No welfare. No rent assistance.
    I don’t get that.
Well, except that nasty coldness here from Nov-Apr.
Get Fuel Assistance. But I guess after reading that wonderful TexASS polititian, I simply am not worthy.
Well, I for one am going to turn in my ONE TIME chance at getting some oil to heat us. So what if we’re getting 5″ of snow tomorrow, and then Sunday the temp plumetts to 20 degrees.
    //sarcasm off. Situation: Completely REAL!
I’ll send you a copy of my checking acct to show you the amt. of $ I get per month.
    These people are IDIOTS!!!!!!

  47. Wayne A. Schneider says:

Perhaps Joe Barton is mad because he is one of those who believe that economist Milton Friedman is a god and that business should be conducted according to Friedman’s theories. Friedman is, of course, a free marketer who believes that no government regulations on busieness are the only good regulations on business. Friedman has said, and his followers believe this will all their hearts, that a corporation cannot have compassion, and that its sole responsibility is to show a profit.

And here we have Citgo breaking that rule and showing compassion. I believe that the reason Friedman hates compassion so much is that you can’t quantify it, you can’t put a dollar value on it because it is so priceless, and because it’s almost impossible to predict the longterm benefits of corporate compassion. If Citgo is allowed to continue doing this, it will help them in the long run. (I also blame Friedman’s theories for why health care costs so much in this country, but that’s a rant I’ve gone into elsewhere.)

  49. molly says:

I buy citgo gas and wish my president had a tiny tiny bit of the goodness of Hugo Chavez. I’m very concerned that we are putting military bases next to Venezuela, they are our 4th biggest supplier of oil. You know that ain’t good…to have oil in your country, that is.And have a bunch of criminals running your country, who only think of stealing and killing.

  50. seefleur says:

    #33 – Molly Ivins

  51. thot's n TN says:

Molly the reason they are putting Military Bases next to Venezuela bushcabal is planning on taking Pres Chavez out and taking over his Country For Oil . I support Chavez this is a man who is really take care of his country like a President is supposed too. That’s why we pay Taxes Folks On Everything we’re supposed to be Investing in our futures with these Taxes altho’ bushcabal would have us to believe its all Entitlements when in reality its getting returns on our investments!

Other Gas that is cheap Hess,Pilot, And Sinclair:

No feeding the bush crime family!

  52. MinnieB9 says:

#21 I don’t see Exxon Mobil doing it either.

    Joe Barton is an ass.

He has a Democrat Challenger, who is an Iraq Vet to boot.

    Let’s support David T. Harris.

They are calling Joey Barton the most powerful Texan in Congress, that alone is a brilliant reason to defeat his moronic ass.

    Let’s do it.

    Rock on.
