‘God is my weapons inspector.’

By Nico Pitney on Feb 27th, 2006 at 2:04 pm

‘God is my weapons inspector.’

“Bill Tierney, who served as a U.N. weapons inspector in Iraq in the late ’90s, told National Review Online this week that he would look to God to direct him to possible WMD sites. ‘God is my intel,’ Tierney told NRO. His belief in the existence of a uranium-enrichment plant near Tarmiyah was supported, he said, by the fact that a friend had seen it in a dream.”

Now they're blaming God for not finding the WMDs. I think that brings the count up to: all celestial beings, all infernal beings, and every human being that has ever lived, or ever will live, on the face of the earth (except George W. Bush).

  8. Monkey Nut Wrench Says:

Indeed, Tierney is quite the theorist. He also said that Iraq was behind the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, and the 2001 anthrax attacks. In time, Tierney believes, all of his ideas will be vindicated.

Powerliars are citing an article about this guy, but the article refers to him as JOHN, not Bill. He translated some of the Saddam tapes...scary source.

  17. bobcat_grad Says:

    I've got it!

Republican spin seems to defy all laws of physics and reason. Maybe it's the solution to solving our energy crisis! If we could only figure a way to harness the perpetual motion power of right-wing spin.

Well, since blue states have higher education levels than red, I guess it's up to us to try to figure this out and save the country. Get cracking, everyone!

  18. ElectricBassPlayer Says:

I'm sitting here trying to compose a post, in an attempt to point out that not only is the guy relying on DREAMS, but HEARSAY, and then I realize. . .

it doesn't matter. These people can't be reasoned with. They live in their own reality.

Folks, they are dangerous. They are already killing Americans indirectly through their Iraq policy.

Are we headed for some sort of civil war of our own? Because I sure as fuck will not let some religious nutbag force his stupid beliefs on me.

  19. Can you hear me now Adm. Poindexter Says:

Remember Dumbya's response about a "higher father" guiding him into his Crusade to find the WMD's?
Haven't heard him mention that guide in awhile..
Not surprising, since the expedition is pretty much another creation of hell on earth.
And, whatever a friend may see in a dream, is theirs, not mine...
much less to be a guiding principle to lead
    others on with.

Let's not the stack the deck here. Even Byron York admits the guy is a flake and thoroughly discredits him: "The people in charge of searching for WMD didn't take Tierney seriously." Of course, if his superiors knew beforehand that he had a divine revelation....

One of my students got up in class today to present his "Science News" presentation. On aliens. He said that they were from outer space or people who do not believe in Jesus.

Most of the class was laughing at him, so I asked him where he got his information. According to him, the Internet .org sites on UFOs and aliens was as valid and scientific as NASA or any other reputable news source.

He was serious. He was convinced that there were aliens, and that these websites were facts.

It explains everything else we hear...

  33. Monkey Nut Wrench Says:

With the Bush administration claiming imperial powers to detain, spy on and even torture people, and the Republican Congress stuck largely in enabling mode, the role of judges in checking executive branch excesses becomes all the more crucial. If the courts collapse when confronted with spurious government claims about the needs of national security, so will basic American liberties.

and you still want to win back congress get on with impeachment NOW

This guy's practically a walking advertisement for atheism -- who needs logic, common sense, objectivity, empirical evidence, or indeed sanity when you've got FAITH??? Why is it so hard for these people to accept the idea that God might have endowed human beings with the capacity for rational thought in the hope that they might actually use it??

His friend saw this uranium-processing plant in a dream and therefore it must have been real -- hmmm, does that mean that Mick Hucknall is going to ask me out on a date? I dreamed about that last night...

No WONDER the Bush administration is so damn diluted. They cannot tell that which is real and what is made up in their mind (to their defense, the "made up" stuff bleeds into reality so its not difficult to see how that blunder could have been made)

Because a god doesn't make sense, there is no proof for one, the appendix among other non-intelligent physical attributes, Reality, Occum's Razor - oh, and faith itself (not actually using that rational thought we possess). Atleast that's why I became an Atheist. I'm sure it's different for others.

Are you a High School Science teacher in the South also? :)

I now just say 'the e word' and they know I'm talking about evolution... craziness when you have to limit your explanations because you already get enough crazy parents coming to visit you as it is because their darling little precious couldn't have possibly been the only student out of 120 to make a B on his assignment unless it were utterly and completely my fault. Amazing how little studying has to do with logic with some of these people.

I'm seriously considering moving to another state...

  55. JIMBO Says:

If that kook actually thinks God is his weapon's instructor, then I guess he uses a certain good book to rub himself with. He's just as crazy as O'Lielly, Bubble Boy,

Nail on the head with that post! Scary true, as they would say... :)

Explains why they fight me when I require them to think for themselves, you know?

I actually had four try to bully me over a project that required thought. Four honors students. And when I was tired of repeating myself, I said I was done discussing it. A parent shows up today unannounced to discuss the matter. Except that she only gets "I'm not discussing this any futher" and her darling son must be defended against the mean new teacher. Yeah, that's why I became a teacher, to be mean to teenagers. Right.

This is my first year, and it has been trial by fire on so many levels. Thanks for the sage wisdom :)

#61 You know, if any of these students try to test you again, ask them how much would they like to spend Saturday
sitting in detention just for acting like self-serving prima donnas. And if they persist, tell them that you could put their parents in detention too. The parents are just as bad as their sorry spawns.

More honor students who are good at memorising but not at reasoning, eh? It sounds like you are on a straight path to sainthood...

Maybe you should tell those parents that you are just doing god's work when you fail a student. On second thought, I don't think they'll understand the irony.

Very funny! Don't temp me. I'm easily inclined toward sarcasm, you know! :)

Though the one today told me that God had only blessed her with her one special child (which explains why she babyfies him to the point that he pitches temper tantrums in high school because he is required to think and mommy has to show up to continue thinking for him... Nice future we're building, eh?)
