  1. Silly Little American Boy says:

I think Bush is better stupid than woefully incompetent.
    …wait, he is woefully incompetent…
I think Bush is better woefully incompetent than completely self-destructive.
    …errrr, wait again…

  2. Optimist says:

I just want to know who in the bush administration is going to be the first one to say that no one could have foreseen that Iraq would descend into civil war.

And I also wonder, what is it going to take for impeachment proceedings or a public revolt to occur?

  3. Hardy Haberman says:

Seems like the excuse Bush uses here for why Katrina was such a mess is the same one he has used for almost every crisis in his administration. “We didn’t have good information.”

To me that sends a chilling signal. They didn’t have good information about 9/11 or Iraq, or the African uranium, or Katrina’s ground situation. They know the problem and yet do nothing about it. That is not having good leadership, not a lack of information. Fool me once….

  4. snookered says:

And the lumpencitizen will ooh and ahhh.
    What a great president!

  5. Erroll says:

During the waning days of the Nixon administration, when talk of impeachment was in the air, one or two senior Republicans walked over to the White House to persuade Nixon to resign for the good of the country. What will it take for someone like Senator John Warner to make that trip to the White House and attempt, in spite of overwhelming odds, to convince both Bush AND Cheney that this country would be much better off if they both resigned from public office?

  6. RunningDogLackey says:

#6 Romor has it Harry Whittington was trying to make precisely that point to Dick Cheney, just before the quail flushed.

  7. Spudge_Boy says:

PRESIDENT BUSH: I agree that we didn’t do as good a job as we could have done on Katrina. However, I would remind people that there was a hurricane right after Katrina that hit Louisiana and Texas, and the response was much better coordinated, and the situational awareness on the ground was much improved.

This freaking twit is trying to compare Rita to Katrina. Sorry bub, there is no comparison.

It is like saying “Well, I couldn’t eat that triple cheeseburger, but I was able to eat the children’s hamburger.”

It is not the same and nobody believes it was anywhere near the same.

  8. Granite State Destroyer says:

    Comment by Erroll — February 28, 2006 @ 6:28 pm

You are implying that there is one single Republican left who has a conscience…..Can I have a hit of the doobie…or is that Dubai?

    -GSD

  9. Marie says:

It’s to close to my dinner hour — I believe I would be sick if I watched the idiot president on ABC.

  10. Napu says:

We have the most imcompetent president ever.
And yet, no one try to assignate him.

    I wonder why.

Perhaps, liberals are too reasonable and logical for their own good. Paranoia, low ethics and no character are required for the task.

  11. Spudge_Boy says:

PRESIDENT BUSH: Listen, here’s the problem that happened in Katrina. There was no situational awareness, and that means that we weren’t getting good, solid information from people who were on the ground, and we need to do a better job.

You could have turned on a god damn TV or picked up a freaking newspaper or turned on a computer and used those “Internets.”

    Instead, he was clearing brush……again.

  12. mc says:

thanks alot Napu now we’ll have the NSA/FBI monitoring thinkprogress.

  13. MLDB says:

    Hooray for high standards!

  14. Optimist says:

    Napu,
Your call to violence is a sign of weakness, ignorance, and is wholly inappropriate. An apology to the group, the site-owner, and bush are in order.

  15. Howdy Neighbor says:

Yes remember, name calling is fine, but no threats please…..

  16. Zookeeper says:

    That ain’t sayin’ much, Georgie.

  17. wisedup says:

gee,I can hardly wait, I rather watch reruns of I love lucy. Here is what he’s really thinking:
    Katrina..’what do I care?’
Iraq…’My friends and I are making big bucks over there..so what’
The ports….’I get a big kick back..so just do it’.
The polls..’I'm a lame duck, remember’, In the rest of my term I’ll suck the U.S. dry, and play with my money for the rest of my life, I’ll set it up for the rest of my republican friends so they can do it after me.’
‘Now don’t ask me anymore questions’.

  18. UAE Wants To Control Your News says:

Why are they giving Mr.35% air time?

  19. Badmoodman says:

#13, they probably do already but I doubt assignate will send up any flags, unless they’re from Merriam Webster.

  20. Spudge_Boy says:

    Merriam Webster

Webster’s is probably wiretapping me daily then.

  21. Badmoodman says:

Read the transcript and see this gem?: BUSH: I don’t buy your premise that there’s going to be a civil war.
Does Bush expect one side to wear gray and the other blue before he sees there’s a civil war going on in Iraq now?

  22. Howdy Neighbor says:

    # 19… it’s ABC giving him the air-time, ’cause they are just trying to see if we get mad LOL
I like the part about a “breakdown of communications”
Half of communication is LISTENING, george…

  23. WaltTheMan says:

    Judd,
Why not edit out 11, 13, 15 and 16 as well as what ever number this one assumes. This is not a site for anarchists. It is a site for progress.

  24. Badmoodman says:

I would urge you all to read the transcript as opposed to watching Incurious George smirk his way through another photo op. It’s clear from reading it that this president is as totally detached from reality as his Mother.

  25. WaltTheMan says:

Also adjust the number in 23.

  26. UAE Wants To Control Your News says:

    More soft-focus propaganda.

  27. Granite State Destroyer says:

    Dodging blame is hard work.

    -George W. Bush

  28. big papa says:

I just want to know who in the bush administration is going to be the first one to say that no one could have foreseen that Iraq would descend into civil war.

    Comment by Optimist #3

    Optimist,

These are the $1 trillion dollar questions…

  29. hardass says:

Send the moron to India and loose him among the outcasts in the streets of Bombay and may be we will luckely never hear from him again .

  30. big papa says:

    Judd,
Why not edit out 11, 13, 15 and 16 as well as what ever number this one assumes. This is not a site for anarchists. It is a site for progress.

    Comment by WaltTheMan #24

    Walt,

With the sh*t we’re in because of these inbred Bushite basta*ds…

…don’t think change won’t be traumatic and cathartic…

  31. David says:

    Thanks for the warning!

  32. Sister Boogie Woman says:

With Bush in office, all the U.S. will ever be is “woefully unprepared.” Sad days for the United States. The only thing that will fix what’s wrong is to vote out ALL republicans. Not a one of them can be trusted. They must all go.

  33. Citizen80203 says:

It is truly a gut wrench when America has sunk so low, that the bar is now set at “woefully unprepared”.

  34. Kenny H says:

    Mmmmm… triple cheeseburger.

  35. ElectricBassPlayer says:

I used to think Republicans liked their presidents dumb because the last smart one was such a crook.

But this guy’s such a fool he’s a de facto crook. His policies are illegal, he freely deals death without a thought — either through his actions or inaction — and he’s certainly damaging the Republican Party. What are they going to do now?

  36. Outraged says:

#8. Obviously you haven’t heard as much about Rita as Katrina but I can assure the damage to Beaumont and Port Arthur was just as devastating.

  37. scosco says:

Omg, he know’s the word “woefully”….how ironic.

  38. napu says:

    Violence wasn’t called for.
Just pointing out difference in historical perspective.
John F. Kennedy and Abraham Lincoln weren’t perfect presidents but they difficult decisions at difficult times. And in their faulty way united this country. Here we have a president who obviously divides americans in terms of economic class, racial class and others. What motivated people to do things. If I would ask for violence, I would do it in a direct way.

I am pointing out the fact that most people who are outraged now are common sense, well-meaning individual who are willing to constant fight for truth and honesty in government without resorting violence. And I do hope reason and true compassion wins out in the end.

My apologies if I sounded antagonistic.

  39. napu says:

Let’s not let our fear get the best of us.

I am trying desperately keep hope alive.

  40. Marie says:

    From Crooks and Liars.com:
BUSH: When I saw TV reporters interviewing people who were screaming for help. It looked – the scenes looked chaotic and desperate. And I realized that our government was-could have done a better job of comforting people.
C&L: You might have stopped playing your guitar in San Diego and paid a little more attention!

  41. Spudge_Boy says:

    napu,

It is all good. We just don’t want to give the righties any ammunition. The are looney as jay birds as it is.

  42. WaltTheMan says:

    napu,
I try to keep a calm demeanor, I’ve seen the face of war and it is ugly. There is some nuance of difference between a dead human being; friend or foe, and a dead fly. W has not sorted this out.

  43. purvis ames says:

Why is ABC doing this puff piece on Bush the day after they were assuring us the strife in Iraq had abated and there was no more danger of civil war (the Ralph Peters, Podhoretz, ad nauseum spin). Today’s Iraq news, of course, tells an entirely different story and ABC is, as usual, a day late and fifty cents short having spent so much wasted effort on a frantic attempt to pump up the inflatable lame duck president.

  44. WiscoDuk says:

    #36

But this guy’s such a fool he’s a de facto crook. His policies are illegal, he freely deals death without a thought — either through his actions or inaction — and he’s certainly damaging the Republican Party. What are they going to do now?

    They’re going to:

March out the abortion issue-which they have already seeded to heat up real good by Nov.
Re-ignite the gay marrige issue or something similar
Tell folks the dems are gonna take their guns (with the NRA’s help of course.)
Scare folks while convincing them the dems can’t protect them.
    And many more!

  45. Cyra Brown says:

Wow… that was truly pathetic. You would think they knew better by now. Whenever he “wings” it, it’s just a long string of words, jumbled together, with no real coherence, or comprehension, of the words themselves, or what he is even talking about. He dosen’t read the polls. I do believe that. Someone else does, then they decide what to do next. Hence, this newest “public relations” disaster. But without asking GW, why the double standard, or blatant hypocrisy, about the UAE, and their PROVEN ties to terrorists, it is just a worthless “interview”. His tireless group of cheerleaders will no doubt be heaping accolades on his “brilliant performance”. Personally, I found it embarrassing, and nauseating, and oh-so predictable. Yuck.

  46. yellodog says:

    WiscoDuk,

    You forgot:

    1. Question the patriotism of anyone who raises questions.
    2. Wear yellow ribbons that say “support the troops”. (Which is literally the least you can do).
    3. Intelligent design.
    4. Change the conversation to Hillary’s 2008 campaign.
    5. DeLay any significant trials (Abramoff, DeLay, Libby, Scanlon, etc) until December at the minimum.

And as you said, many, many, more. The saddest part of the state of the union is that there is no honest debate. Even if there were, the voting districts have been gerrymandered to give a statistical margin of victory, so that it is going to take a sea change to make any difference. Hard to believe that can happen without a paper trail.

    Huh?

  48. WiscoDuk says:

I try to stay optimistic but as glad as I am to see Bush & Co get hammered I’m also a little worried. Americans have short memories and most pay little attention to politics. The issue of the day might prevail come election time.

    Unless…
The dems take a cue from SpugeBoy and throw pics and other reminders in their faces while the rethugs spew meaningless emotional issues.
John Q is reminded that the rethugs they elected gave BushCo his “mandate”
    Again…many more.

  49. mr ho says:

PRESIDENT BUSH: Listen, here’s the problem that happened in Katrina. There was no situational awareness, and that means that we weren’t getting good, solid information from people who were on the ground, and we need to do a better job.

The way this Bush guy speaks is almost like Gary Ruppert

The Fact is there was no situational awareness
So Im sposed to believe that NO ONE saw or was Aware that was a Hurricane?

    And Im so glad BUSH went on to Explain what Awareness is;

we weren’t getting good Solid information from the people on the ground.
Thats Because they were on top of the Roofs George.
    And Finally
we need to do a better job
No George you are doing a Heckuva job, please continue to destroy the Neo-Cons and their ILK. Thanks

  50. Galen Bellile says:

I must be a genius. I knew Bush was a student left behind years ago. He would surely fail the 6th Grade TAKS test in Texas. “Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. “They never stop thinking about ways to harm our country and people, and neither do we.” George W. Bush

  51. Clif says:

#50 Mr. ho,…, bush looked out the window in crawford and said “hurricane, I don’t see no hurricane, hell let’s go to johnny McC’s birthday party I really like cake”…..

  52. Sharon Cox says:

    How great, no trolls tonight…Wow!…..Blessings

  53. Miro says:

“I think the U.S. is better prepared than woefully unprepared.”

Here we go with Presidential Alzheimer’s victim number two.

Maybe we can get a Frist diagnosis from THIS tape…
Wheeeeerrrrrrre’s that Dr. Frist when you need him.

    gs

  54. Miro says:

Top ten reason’s the Republican’s haven’t impeached Bush yet:

    10. They think it’s mean to pick on Alzheimer’s victims

    9. …… Go ahead, you can do it…

  55. Old Woman says:

I am constantly amazed and horrified, that this man was chosen(not elected), not once but twice. What more does he have to do or say before the citizens of this country realize what a horrible mistake has been made? It’s time to take our country back. I won’t be here for alot more years, but by God, I want my grandchildren to grow up in the wonderful America where I was raised. I think it’s time to impeach!

Dude, I think he’s talking about a bj; as in “an assignation.”

That’s supposed to be Laura’s job – and I’ll bet she hasn’t “assignated” him for decades.

  57. Clif says:

#57 dano it is how you disect the word…ass-ignate sounds more like Jeff Gannons job………………..LOL

  58. Jericho says:

I think George W. Bush is better than Hitler… but I wouldn’t place my money on it. Hitler wanted the ‘untermenschen’ dead, Bush only wants them to shut up, work and obey Amanagerica …. But then again, Hitler was evil/crazy/lunatic/deranged…..how crazy/idiot/ignorant/evil is Bushy?

  59. bush hater says:

    #59 Jericho; BUSH = EVIL.

  60. Arlene Montemarano says:

“So long as the people do not care to exercise their freedom, those who wish to tyrannize will do so; for tyrants are active and ardent, and will devote themselves in the name of any number of gods, religious and otherwise, to put shackles upon sleeping men” : Voltaire.

Come on America! Wake up now.

  61. mparker says:

    Even here he is lying.

George Bush has catastrophically successful in bringing our preparedness to the level of woeful.

    He has increased the threat.
He has in no way made America safer.
He has made our enemies stronger.

He has weakened our Military and brought us to Economic and Moral ruin.

The Constitution and the American People are as much enemies to this Administration as the Taliban.

  63. bluepwrdup says:

The War in Iraq. More than 2,300 Americans and thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians lives have been lost. Flawed intelligence; phantom weapons of mass destruction; squandered money and opportunity; no-bid contracts; an underequipped and overextended army; a growing insurgency. Bush and the neo-cons own the whole malodorous mess. The situation is spinning out of control. We are only catching a pre-view of the death and destruction. The genocide, ethic cleansing, mass extermination is imminent. And the fools in Washington refuse to realize it’s beyond their power to change destiny. Explain to us ‘Commander Brush’, how “Shock and Awe” so quickly became merely shocking and awful.

Americans and the Iraqi people are the biggest losers in this horrific decision to emancipate Iraq. Do any of us wonder why the insurgency continues ? A large majority of Iraqi’s are not stupid. They know they are being colonized under the color of ” democracy .” Shame on this administration for duping us and the Iraqi people with delusions of democracy. This administration should be tried as war criminals after they have been removed from office.

“I never wonder to see men wicked, but I often wonder to see them not ashamed.” Jonathan Swift

  64. Bert says:

The more I think about it, the more I support impeachment. I recommend that others, if they’ve reached a similar conclusion, refer to one of the many websites such as http://www.votetoimpeach.org and review the information there to see if they agree with it. If so, there’s petitions that can be signed to help carry the motion forward and bring it to Congress to be voted on. Obviously, the more people that sign such things, the greater the odds that it will go forward. Let’s get Exxon et. al. out of the White House.
    Thank you
