Fox News continues its crackerjack analysis of sectarian strife in Iraq. Previously, it explored whether “an all-out civil war in Iraq” could be “a good thing.”
Now they have an new theory. Moments ago on Fox:

Maybe they should ask the families of the roughly 1500 Iraqis who have died.
Mark my word they will blame it on the liberals soon. Seriously, Rush Windbag las already said that “the Liberals are trying to start a civil war in Iraq”. The man is on LSD.
March 1st, 2006 at 4:15 pmIf a lie is big enough, and repeated often enough…
March 1st, 2006 at 4:15 pmWonder if they asked that about the Nazi holocaust too.
March 1st, 2006 at 4:16 pmTruthiness strikes again. Fox News is an embarrassment to journalism.
March 1st, 2006 at 4:17 pmI guess the logical extension for tomorrow would be, “Civil War in Iraq:Good for media to make-up for America?”
March 1st, 2006 at 4:17 pmThe Fox and RethuG formula..we are now on Step 2
Step 1. Deny and reframe the issue
Step 2. Blame media
Step 3. Blame Democratic leadership
Step 4. Blame critics
Step 5. Blame the victim
Rinse, wash and repeat…..
March 1st, 2006 at 4:20 pmOT: I’ve made important corrections of false facts (posted by a ‘Paul in Mexico’ troll) in the ‘Four Days After Katrina’ thread, below, on the subject of impeachment.
March 1st, 2006 at 4:21 pmIt’s no more “made up” than the president is a “made up” president.
March 1st, 2006 at 4:23 pmJust a heads-up on that 1500 number from the Post: is it accurate? CJR daily raised the question here: http://www.cjrdaily.org/ behind_the_news/ either_the_washington_post_mis.php
March 1st, 2006 at 4:23 pmThen the staff of Fox would not mind broadcasting from Iraq outside the green zone say for a week, all of them too even O’Liely, Hannity, and Roger Ailes
March 1st, 2006 at 4:25 pmThe deep end just got deeper in the cesspool.
March 1st, 2006 at 4:25 pm“We have to address the fact that the president has broken the law.” — Senator Russ Feingold.
We need to sing this from the mountaintops. Everyday someone needs to post this on all threads at all times.

March 1st, 2006 at 4:28 pmFox is part of the media and they make up stuff all the time. I guess they think everybody does it.

REAL DEATH,DESTRUCTION AND CIVIL WAR
March 1st, 2006 at 4:31 pmThere is no civil strife in Iraq. ABC News said so yesterday and Fox has confirmed it today. So just what exactly is the media making up?

“See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda.”
—Bush, May 25, 2005
I think by ‘catapult’ he means ‘create and push’
March 1st, 2006 at 4:32 pm#12 - Indeed!!!
“We have to address the fact that the president has broken the law.†— Senator Russ Feingold.
The MSM is to blame for stirring up the specter of civil war in Iraq, eh? Well then, let’s take a look at what people inside Iraq are saying, shall we?
The last few days have been unsettlingly violent in spite of the curfew. We’ve been at home simply waiting it out and hoping for the best. The phone wasn’t working and the electrical situation hasn’t improved. We are at a point, however, where things like electricity, telephones and fuel seem like minor worries. Even complaining about them is a luxury Iraqis can’t afford these days.
The sounds of shooting and explosions usually begin at dawn, at least that’s when I first sense them, and they don’t really subside until well into the night. There was a small gunfight on the main road near our area the day before yesterday, but with the exception of the local mosque being fired upon, and a corpse found at dawn three streets down, things have been relatively quiet.
Some of the neighbors have been discussing the possibility of the men setting up a neighborhood watch. We did this during the war and during the chaos immediately after the war. The problem this time is that the Iraqi security forces are as much to fear as the black-clad and hooded men attacking mosques, houses and each other.
…I’m reading, and hearing, about the possibility of civil war. The possibility. Yet I’m sitting here wondering if this is actually what civil war is like. Has it become a reality? Will we look back at this in one year, two years… ten… and say, “It began in February 2006…â€? It is like a nightmare in that you don’t realise it’s a nightmare while having it- only later, after waking up with your heart throbbing, and your eyes searching the dark for a pinpoint of light, do you realise it was a nightmare…
[from: http://www.riverbendblog.blogspot.com/ ]
March 1st, 2006 at 4:32 pmAha, this makes sense now…. Under the banner on 27th Feb, ’send Clinton’, Little Roy Cohn (otherwise known as his nom de plume, Andrew Sullivan) ardent Iraq War supporter (”The decadent Left in its enclaves on the coasts is not dead - and may well mount what amounts to a fifth column.”), now proposes to send Bill Clinton to sort out the incipient Iraqi Civil War.
So when Bill goes, it can “all Clinton’s fault”. I see the master plan…
March 1st, 2006 at 4:32 pm… and the Fox News tag line…
March 1st, 2006 at 4:33 pmLush Rimballs as well as the FOX always try to pull the RACE CARD.
This from bloated white NEO-CON BIGOTS.
No real thinker would fall for this crap.
Why do you think their viewers average about 70 years old.
Scare the hell out of old people and we can take what we want.
March 1st, 2006 at 4:33 pmFirst they said civil war was a good thing. Then they said it was already over. Now they’re pretending that what’s going on never happened.
Everything they say is advertising, and there’s no sense in engaging them.
They’re filth.

March 1st, 2006 at 4:34 pmIn 18, you should also replace ‘truth’ with ‘lie.’
Kinda the same thing, Bush, only it’s the opposite.
March 1st, 2006 at 4:35 pmNot quite terry’s response, but I’ve kind of become used to what the repubs usually try to pull outta their asses.
Blame the whole thing on Clinton.
Yup, Bubba got us to invade Iraq. Look out, Bubba is gonna make us invade Iran next.
March 1st, 2006 at 4:35 pmWow. They’ve just left the stratosphere and now have absolutely no relationship to reality. I wonder how many people who work there just throw their hands up every day about what a joke their “news coverage” is.
March 1st, 2006 at 4:35 pmFox News has a new slogan to replace Fair and Balanced.
Fox News: “War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorence is Strength”…ba,ba,ba,ba,ba, badum.

March 1st, 2006 at 4:36 pmI have now changed sides in this debate. After all this time tipping my hat towards the left I now have finally gotten the evidence I was looking for to know where I should stand.
You see this whole thing has to do with Bill Clinton. He was actually a space alien. The republicans have been trying to save America from the alien invasion and that is why they tried getting rid of Clinton. That is also why they hate Hillary…what kind of human being would marry an alien?
Anyway the Iraqis are aliens also. And the reason that we didn’t find any WMDs is because alien WMDs are deathray guns and we had just assumed we should be looking for bombs.
ALL of this has been covered up by the mass media…because they are aliens. And these godless aliens have been brainwashing America into being godless also ever since 1929 right before the aliens made the stock market crash which setup the arrival of the head alien at the time FDR.
When the right finally gets their facts straight and lines it all up for you to see…their story is quite convincing.
March 1st, 2006 at 4:38 pmFox News: Iraq Civil War “Made Up By The Media?â€
Well, really, yes, they, specially the Fox, made up the WHOLE IRAQ WAR. Beginning with the WMD excuse, and the toppling of Saddam excuse, and the spreading of democracy excuse, etc.

Do you have to be an OT VII to know all that?
March 1st, 2006 at 4:46 pmNo civil war? Negroponte either did not get that memo from rove or hasn’t read it yet.
WASHINGTON - A civil war in Iraq could lead to a broader conflict in the Middle East, pitting the region’s rival Islamic sects against each another, National Intelligence Director John Negroponte said in an unusually frank assessment Tuesday.
“If chaos were to descend upon Iraq or the forces of democracy were to be defeated in that country … this would have implications for the rest of the Middle East region and, indeed, the world,†Negroponte said at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on global threats.
Saudi Arabia and Jordan could support Iraq’s Sunnis, Negroponte said. And Iran, run by a Shiite Islamic theocracy, “has already got quite close ties with some of the extremist elements†inside Iraq, he added.
While Iraq’s neighbors “initially might be reluctant†to get involved in a broader Sunni-Shiite conflict, “that might well be a temptation,†Negroponte said.
March 1st, 2006 at 4:48 pm#32, no, you have to believe that Fox news is a direct line from God and drink the kool aide.
March 1st, 2006 at 4:48 pmand don’t forget to wear those Nikies for the trip to the ship.
March 1st, 2006 at 4:50 pmSince everything is so rosey in iraq, fox should send its news guys there for a spin and get some fresh reporting done on how schools, water, electricity and also a normal ride in baghdad is done? That is how they should shut all of us liberals up.
March 1st, 2006 at 4:50 pmBorna
Do they really think that anybody, besides Fox News viewers are going to believe this line of horse shit?
March 1st, 2006 at 4:51 pmIsn’t _FOX_ media guilty of fomenting civil war right here in the U.S. of A.?
March 1st, 2006 at 4:52 pmIt’s not Faux News so much as its Cavuto. The guy truly is a f#cking liar. Straight up, made up “news”. Every broadcast.
Of all the clowns who hibernate at Faux, aside from the completely unwatchable “Hair” Hannity, Cavuto is off-the-charts crap.
March 1st, 2006 at 4:52 pmI don’t think there is anything about Iraq that the right can ‘blame on the liberals’. This is Dubya’s mess almost entirely.
March 1st, 2006 at 4:52 pm#36–GREAT IDEA! Let’s challenge them to send a reporter out to report all the NON civil-war stuff going on. Let’s have Cavuto himself just grab the mic and take a stroll thru Bhagdad. Put up or shut up, they say…
March 1st, 2006 at 4:54 pm#41 ALL OF THEM, its put up or STFU time.
March 1st, 2006 at 4:58 pm“This is Dubya’s mess almost entirely.” There is no almost about it.
March 1st, 2006 at 4:58 pmOrwell’s book 1984 should be reread by everyone soon. It has certainly become the Republican playbook.
March 1st, 2006 at 4:58 pmI dont think its civil war yet in Iraq but getting close.
I watch the death counts all the time usually its about 1000 a month , 1500 is a higher amount than normal in 10 days
But a civil war they would be at it like hammer and tonges i would expext 1500 per hour to be civil war
dont get me wrong ive been against this illegal invasion from the start ,,,,BUSH wants civil war for some reason and trying his best to get civil war possibly by black op missions and we all know that and so do Iraqis… they just want you to leave and have asked for you to do so before , but Bush just makes up properganda and lies to stay
Withdrawal Of Occupation Forces,From Cairo
We demand the withdrawal of foreign forces in accordance with a timetable, and the establishment of a national and immediate program for rebuilding the armed forces…that will allow them to guard Iraq’s borders and to get control of the security situation……..
President Hosni Mubarak and Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika and the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Syria and Iran—but no U.S. officials. The gathering was strongly supported not only by the Arab League but also by the U.N., EU and the Organization of the Islamic Conference.

March 1st, 2006 at 4:59 pmShall we take up a collection to send Brit & the gang to Iraq, so they can report the GOOD NEWS the RadLibFemFaguccino media refuses to air?
I, for one, think they deserve every resource it takes to put them on the ground in Faluja in a big red, white & blue Hummer topped with a dish antenna, aromatic of freedom fries and pork fat. I would watch FOX to see that!
March 1st, 2006 at 4:59 pmSo by blaming the Media, they infer that they are not part of the Media… That’s about the only true thing in their entire broadcast.

Yes, I can see how Bush approval rating is all based on the lies put forth by American Democrats and liberals. Oh and don’t forget the “liberal American media.”
Bush is loved around the world for spreading Democracy.
Go Bush!

March 1st, 2006 at 5:02 pmDid they put Rove in control of the text graphics?
Seriously, who comes up with this sh!t!?
If they’re going to make such outrageous assertions, why don’t they give similiar attention to calls for a new 9-11 investigation based on US government involvement and coverup?
D!ckheads.
it has occured to me for some time that trolls in and republican brown nosers here like to steal the top position as to cover up good posts
March 1st, 2006 at 5:02 pmIt’s time to organize boycotts of advertisers who support the dangerous propoganda machine called Fox News.
March 1st, 2006 at 5:03 pmWag that dog, baby!
March 1st, 2006 at 5:04 pmYou f*cking liberals are seeing first hand how ruthless Al Qaeda is. They are the ones behind the latest bombings and attacks on mosques. This is a sign of how desperate they have become and they know they are in their last days. The reason why Fox has the story at all is because civil war is what you guys have been praying and hoping for. Maybe just hoping, since you guys don’t believe in prayer. I hope our military along with the Iraqi army takes out the rest of Al Qaeda once and for all and can finally bring peace to Iraq. You would hate that most of all.
March 1st, 2006 at 5:07 pmI only read the independent news paper online ….I would never ever dream of buying a tabloid paper, you just encourage right wing lies …you can blame governments for everything ,,But even more than them i blame the press ,,,without the propaganda by the press the governments would not be in their possition
March 1st, 2006 at 5:09 pm#33 that’s a great point…I was reading that earlier on Yahoo news. Negroponte definitely didn’t get the memo.
March 1st, 2006 at 5:10 pmI respect what Bin Laden says a lot more than Bush and i suspect more people in the world do , at least he makes sense in waht he says Bush is a complete moron on his own and even with all his staff behind him he still dont make sense
March 1st, 2006 at 5:11 pmIn fact when you apply Bushes words its a if he were speaking about himself …I never get that from Bin Ladens texts ???????????????
March 1st, 2006 at 5:12 pmIf the media was able to “fully” cover what is going on in Iraq, it would look like a civil war without propaganda … 1300 dead since last Wednesday.

March 1st, 2006 at 5:15 pm“FISA? It’s unconstitutional!”
Well of course Fox news makes another outrageous claim. Although my favorite was when they played music over the telecast of the U.S. bombing of Baghdad. Oh and Rush Limbaugh speaks like there is a cork in his ass.
March 1st, 2006 at 5:15 pmNext from Fox: President Clinton smoking pot but not inhaling is far worse then President Bush’s coke problem in college.
March 1st, 2006 at 5:17 pmThe AEI Kristol FAUX news and Murdoch Fascism explained by Mr Ledeens cheerleader plans for death and destruction
More think-tank “ISM’s” and rehashed history renamed, again.Heres what the head Machevellian ‘thinker’ has to say about neo-consMichael Ledeen, leading neocon theoretician, expert on Machiavelli, holder of the Freedom Chair at the American Enterprise Institute, regular columnist for National Review—and the principal cheerleader today for an extension of the war on terror to include regime change in Iran.
Ledeen has gained notoriety in recent months for the following paragraph in his latest book, The War Against the Terror Masters. In what reads like a prophetic approval of the policy of chaos now being visited on Iraq, Ledeen wrote,
Creative destruction is our middle name, both within our own society and abroad. We tear down the old order every day, from business to science, literature, art, architecture, and cinema to politics and the law. Our enemies have always hated this whirlwind of energy and creativity, which menaces their traditions (whatever they may be) and shames them for their inability to keep pace. Seeing America undo traditional societies, they fear us, for they do not wish to be undone. They cannot feel secure so long as we are there, for our very existence—our existence, not our politics—threatens their legitimacy. They must attack us in order to survive, just as we must destroy them to advance our historic mission.
March 1st, 2006 at 5:18 pmNothing new to post #54?
March 1st, 2006 at 5:19 pmSame old Rove/GOP/Fox spin?
I think maybe you need some new material
as that load is pretty tired by now.
I don’t think even your base listens
to that drivel anymore.
Anyway, we were discussing Fox’s attempt
to run through the usual list of spin points.
Just to recap:
1) Deny it
2) Blame someone else (In this case the media,
which is Fox too - they aren’t not too bright
on that network)
3) Clinton maybe? Liberals maybe? Certainly
someone who has nothing to do with it and
no power to affect policy.
4) The Iraqis for having a Golden Shrine to begin
with.
mr Leeeden speaks not of Iraq today, but of Historic Missions.
What Historic mission does he speak of?
The Noble Cause? That WAR keeps them in power?
To destroy so they can profit from reconstruction?
Aye, Redustists indeed.
March 1st, 2006 at 5:20 pmI have a relative who went to Yale with Bush. Apparently Bush and another guy beat the sh*t out of some kid one day in his dorm room and left him there. Couldn’t tell you why is happened but the kid was unconscious.
March 1st, 2006 at 5:20 pmI hate to say it but theres only one person alive who can bring peace and tranquillity to Iraq, unfortunately he’s on trial for his life over there. Bush needs to make a face saving deal with him, or else its civil war, and we lose.
March 1st, 2006 at 5:20 pmWe already knew how bad al Qaida is. That is why Bill Clinton created Able Danger to take them out. You know the guys who warned George W. Bush about them. Also, Richard Clark sent a letter to Rice on January 25, 2001 warning her about al Qaida. Catch up.
http://www2.gwu.edu/ ~nsarchiv/ NSAEBB/ NSAEBB147/ clarke%20memo.pdf
Okay, Dick “They are in their last days” Cheney.
Yes, because you never hear us PROGRESSIVES complain about the innocent people that have already died as a result of this illegal war. We are just smart enough, just like George H. W. Bush, to realize that going into Baghdad would lead to a civil war. But, you are too young, don’t have military experience to realize that.
You guys don’t hold a monopoly on religion. Dumbass.
al Qaida is in Pakistan, not Iraq. Remember our January 16, 2006 attack in PAKISTAN to kill Zwahiri? You really are out of touch with reality.
March 1st, 2006 at 5:21 pmThis is a desperate “duck left feint right” attempt to divert attention, one that nobody should fall for. By getting us to talk about whether the civil war is made up, it distracts from the very real need to withdraw troops from Viet…er, I mean Iraq. Every day they’ll throw another asinine accusation towards the left. While the left tries to formulate a thoughtful honest answer, Fox will throw out three more zingers. It doesn’t matter whather or not they all stick, they just have to keep the left constantly on the defense, so that no change is made to the Administration’s plans.
THe time has come for everyone in the media to start using “Fox News” and “Weekly World News” in the same sentence. Don’t get angry, don’t hurl invective, and don’t take them seriously. Their nonsense should be considered on par with Bigfoot Babies, Bat Boys & Losing Weight the 12 pounds of fudge daily stories that is the WWN’s stock in trade. Just roll your eyes and say “oh, that Fox, pulling lies outta their fat white asses again!” The more we say that, the less anyone but the most diehard conservatives-the ones whose heads would explode if they didn’t believe Fox’s horseshit-will choose to watch or believe the lies Fox spin.
“Civil War in Iraq: Made Up By The Media?”
Oh, Fox, you and your horseshittery. It would be funny if it weren’t for the fact that so many impressionable senior citizens take you seriously. But it’s still horseshittery. There’s a civil war. Keep lying about it while earnest intelligent talk about the next step.
March 1st, 2006 at 5:22 pmFaux News is not recognized as a news provider in Europe!!! I believe it does well in spreading it’s muck in the land of trailor trash.
March 1st, 2006 at 5:23 pmWhat a waste of space you lot are. How on earth can you expect to be seen as a nation for the world to look up to.
AEI is creative destruction.
and Mr Leeden proves it.
Thank you Mr Ledeen for your
machiavellian inhumanitarian ways.
Wake up my fellow christians. These people only wanted your vote and they Lied in every way possible to get it.
March 1st, 2006 at 5:23 pm#70,
You really are out of touch with reality.
I think one gets that way from watching Fox. You
March 1st, 2006 at 5:25 pmknow, the “alternate reality” network.
Comment by . — March 1, 2006 @ 5:07 pm
#54 You f*cking liberals…..
Next stop fantasy land.
Much of the fighting is the internecine battle between rival Shiite factions, and between Sunnis who are afraid of Shiite politcal dominance, not “Al Qaeda” you brainwashed dildo. Although there are terrorist elements, most of the fighting against the US is Abdul Q. Public who doesn’t like foreigners with guns in his nation.
If you watched something other than colonoscopy scans of Cavuto’s bunghole, you would know that.
So, please continue with the fantasy that “everything is just fine”. It doesn’t change reality.

March 1st, 2006 at 5:25 pmwhat america needs is a civil war …..
March 1st, 2006 at 5:25 pm#72 well said your aggreeing with #55 in a sense
March 1st, 2006 at 5:27 pmCouldn’t they send a “real” newsman to check it out?
Say, Brit Hume?
March 1st, 2006 at 5:28 pm1500 would appear accurate with a possible error of 2-300. The tallies are based on morgue counts but the folks at the morgue know a spike when they see one.
AP Wire Service was reporting a 1000 count yesterday evening and that was based on morgue counts - not all bodies go straight to the morgue or are picked up quickly.
Anyway, alot of Iraqis are dying in sectarian violence.
Note the AP story about Sunnis sending arms into Baghdad so they will be ‘prepared’ against the Shiite militias next time?
Well, it’s the Kurds that have less to worry about. Their force is pretty good at maintaing security.
Fox is unbelievable. I bet they declare a civil war a period in which 50,000 Iraqis die in one month. Seriously, what number will it take?
We also have Khalizad as our ambassador to Iraq now. The man thinks he is a modern colonial ruler. Remember the stories of him in Aghanistan and how he was central to all the brokering? Well Iraq isn’t Afghanistan and he is meddling and taking sides at the same time. He was a bad choice for an ambassador. He also makes his opposition to ministers publicly know which is incredibly stupid.
There is a real question of what we do if/when this civil war starts - right now it’s more revenge attacks centered on Baghdad, although it is spreading. The Shiite militias would need to get really involved for it to be a full scale civil war.
Right now ethnic cleansing would describe Iraq pretty well. It’d certainly describe ‘Kurdistan’.
I think Bush would intervene in a civil war. He obviously doesn’t care about his approval ratings and the Congress wouldn’t cut funding if it was seen as hurting troops - at least not in any huge way. Bush wants a LEGACY and his legacy will be horrid. Letting Iraq plunge into a civil war and break apart would, in his mind, ruin both that adventure and his grand plans for the middle east.
Expect heavy American intervention if such a thing occurred. Sadly we’d be drawn into a conflict that would probably bring in the neighbors. Turkey would probably not get involved just because of its EU aspirations.
March 1st, 2006 at 5:28 pmJames,
NPR reported that bodies were turned away because the morgues were full. So, the number is higher than what is reported.
March 1st, 2006 at 5:30 pmWhat America needs is another War of the Roses to get the people out of office, and the destructive ‘Elites’ that keep starting all this crap.
March 1st, 2006 at 5:30 pm#54 - like you supported Clinton’s policies? No one want’s a civil war in Iraq. We just want justice served. Bu$hco is a Fascist bag of lifers who use tools like you to make the largest profits in history, while burning out military out. Afghanistan is the war on Terror, the front line. Iraq is a corp trek for those who really run the show. Sorry to break it to you but your boy bushy is just a lap dog in the scheme of things. Gangsters plain and simple. Russia Mafia has nothing on but$hco.
Darth vader Cheney’s Halliburton, is feeding our troops spoiled food, food that has been in transport under attack full of shrapnel, and over charging ME AND YOU for a shit job. But you support the troops right ass hole? only gangsters can take the best military in the world and turn them into a broken army, wanting to come home (70% of troops want to leave this year).
When bush says we are fighting terrorists in Iraq, (5% at best of the insurgency) he is only keeping the smoke screen up for assholes like you. (you should really try using your nose, breathing from the mouth is seen as ape-like in some circles)
See every day our 140K+ troops are deployed in Iraq, is that many meals Hallifuckus can charge for, and that many more they can say they served and charge anyway. You think our Tax dollars should spend $45 for a case of coke? You just don’t have a mind of your own. You don’t know what to do when you realize you lost, you are following a loosing party. Remember, they were buying Kuwait oil for over double the price, OUR TAX DOLLARS MIND YOU. but that is fine with you.
We should be winning the hearts and minds of the Muslims, instead we are gearing up more suicide bombers. Iran has over 6 million suicide bombers ready to go. What are asswipes like you going to do when the flood Iraq and show up in our malls while your fat stupid dirty girl friend is shopping for nascar and britney spears record. Bush cracked open a hornets nest. Even Reagen was smart enough and knew what the old school of power says, You play your best hand - if bush was half a man he would meet with the Iranian president and just simply tell him: If USA is hit with any Nuke, no matter who did it, Iran will be off the map the very same hour. It is basic leadership. We are the greatest nation in the world, the best arsenal anywhere. We don’t have to run, or “fight them over there”. We just have to use what we have with intelligence. I bet you love the port deal too right, anything for Bu$hco is perfect for you, just don’t let him get a blowjob ha? Oh but I have a feeling you wouldn’t care if bush cheated on his wife, Monica-gate was just the only stick you could hit Clinton with that hurt.

Democrats gave us consumer protection laws
Democrats gave us improved air quality
Democrats gave us the internet
Democrats gave us the Center for Disease Control & Prevention (Republicans hate this kind of stuff; they’re very mean)
Democrats gave us Affirmative Action (which 64% of Americans favor. Don’t listen to the right-wing disinformation machine: affirmative action has helped the income, promotion and labor force participation rates of both women and minorities. That’s why Republicans hate it. If it hadn’t worked, they wouldn’t mind.)
Democrats promote space exploration
Democrats gave us the Family & Medical Leave Act
Democrats gave us the Consumer Product Safety Commission
Democrats cleaned up the Great Lakes (did so!)
Democrats protect endangered species
Democrats got a ban on CFC’s, DDT, PCB’s, & leaded gasoline (plus who knows what other toxic stuff we & our kids would still be enjoying–if Republicans had always ruled)
Democrats gave us rural electrification
Democrats got you public schooling
Democrats gave us the National Weather Service
Democrats gave us truth-in-advertising laws
Democrats gave us the Morrill Land Grant Act (this act is the reason nearly every state has a large public university)
Democrats gave us public universities (Democrats are less afraid of people getting educated than Republicans are)

Democrats passed child-labor laws
Democrats got us Meals on Wheels
Democrats promote scientific & technological research

Democrats promote child immunizations (which reached record levels under the Clinton Administration)
Democrats make the poverty rate go down (Check it out: the New Deal reduced America’s poverty rate from over 50% to less than 20%)
Democrats lower the crime rate (it dropped for 8 successive years under Clinton–the longest continuous drop on record; what can I say?)
Democrats fought discrimination (The Republicans supported it: remember?)
Democrats help develop alternative energy sources (whereas the Republicans plan to take us down with the dinosaurs)
Democrats control immigration (better than Republicans; Bill Clinton exported more illegals than any President ever)
Democrats created special education programs, handicapped education programs, job retraining programs, etc., etc. (Republicans destroy same, capice?)
Democrats improve the educational system (whereas Republicans sell it down the river)
Democrats protect you from malignant corporations (Republicans feed you to them)

Democrats gave us the highest home ownership rate in American history (Clinton again)
Democrats converted the largest budget deficit in American history into the largest surplus (which GWB has incredibly turned back into the biggest deficit AGAIN!)
Democrats gave us smaller government (That’s right! The Federal government grows much less under Democrats)
Democrats reduce federal spending (to the lowest level since 1966 under the last elected President)
Democrats gave us the most exports ever (under Clinton)
Democrats can get the FDA working again (do not take any drugs approved under this administration; it’s that bad)
Democrats would represent most people (most people want the liberal things–environmentalism, gun control, international cooperation, less torture; Republicans, by contrast, want things that most Americans hate)
Democrats can fix this gross income-inequality thing (income equality correlates significantly with mortality rates, crime, poor educational outcomes, substance abuse, etc.)
Democrats are not so into crackpot science & crackpot stats (science backs up the Democrats; junk science backs up the Right)
Democrats will give us a health-care system (think about it; the lifespans of Canadians are now 2 years more than ours–because of their healthcare system)
The African-American poverty rates dropped to their lowest levels EVER under the last Democratic administration.
The poverty rate for single mothers reached its lowest level EVER under Clinton.
#64 Dave, bush did not have a coke problem in college, he had all he needed.
March 1st, 2006 at 5:33 pmI’m the last one to defend fox but there was a journlist reporting that all is well in most of Iraq ad that these insidents are sporadic——-Says he traveled extensively and that is what he observed—-not that I believe it but the fact that he was on the news today makes it a slightly different story—-We need to find out who this journalist is and what he is about.
March 1st, 2006 at 5:34 pmI just thought cant you get say that wonderbra girls to walk into the whitehouse and go down on Bushes white house Cigar and then impeach him
March 1st, 2006 at 5:35 pmSuch lies are believable to our public for a reason. Today’s poll regarding the First Amendment and “The Simpsons” explains why.
Read it and I promise you’ll never look at your pet in quite the same way. Oy vey.
March 1st, 2006 at 5:38 pmFox news has an effect on what, a million people? It’s a sideshow. There is little doubt that the majority of Americans have figured out that no matter how many times GWB says “stay the course” that the strategy just isn’t working. Why do you think the republicans in Congress are using the DPW deal to put out the idea that they don’t march lock step with the president?
March 1st, 2006 at 5:39 pmThe strategy won’t change, though, until we see more than a couple of deaths a week. When the real civil war breaks out (like if we were stupid enough to hit Iran) and the death toll mounts, then there will be real pressure to change course.
Just like the FAA does after crashes, changes are written in blood.

March 1st, 2006 at 5:43 pmTJM,
The Golden Mosque was blown up on February 22, 2006. Exactly one week ago. A rough estimate of the deaths is 1,500 in that week. But, as I said above, morgues are turning away bodies, because they are full. This is a lot more the a couple of deaths a week.
March 1st, 2006 at 5:43 pm#87 theres more than a couple American deaths a week more like 2-3 a day

you must actually watch fox news to beleive that figure
March 1st, 2006 at 5:46 pmThe Iraq war is burning $100,000 a minute, 6 Billion a month!
For what? to line the pockets of US contractors while handing Iraq over to Iran?
We are witnessing the complete breakdown of our government. It’s not a question. It’s real. The administration does not give a shit about us. Period. End of story. There is no argument. There are no grey areas. They are all intent on screwing us out of everything we have and leaving us a destitute 3rd world country. I’m not guessing or crazy or going off half cocked. They have malice aforethought. They don’t care about our troops. They don’t care what anybody thinks. The agenda is nearly complete. The United States of America has been raped, looted, and her heart has been ripped from her body. The bloody carcass is now being dragged behind a pickup truck somewhere on a ranch in Crawford Tx…

March 1st, 2006 at 5:46 pmPerhaps Fox needs better situational awareness before they report it as fact.

March 1st, 2006 at 5:53 pmI got it now - with so many Improvised bombs in 05 of 10593
10593 artilery shells basically Not even that many had been stolen in that Bush mishap where they did not police some live amunitions store and they got nicked
I recon there must be some foreign intervention going on to equal 10593 in 05 and Bush is blaming on the missing stockpile so as not to admit that other countries are supplying artillery shells and hate his troop presence
March 1st, 2006 at 5:55 pm#94 the only thing that is on the march is your demise. The more this keeps up, the longer Bu$cho is not behind bars, the more of a chance you will find yourself on the wrong end of a Liberal and his gun. We will take our country back.
One question asswipe, What does Liberty mean? If FOx and your “dear Leader” really support Democracy, why are they fighting Liberty here?
See asswipes like you need a history lesson. Our founding Fathers, wrote the Declaration of Independence because of the SAME THINGS BUSHCO is doing.
“THose willing to give up security for Liberty deserves neither” Ben Franklin.
Liberty means respect of others ideas, every one has sovereignty over their thoughts, lives and property. THis means I am protected from assholes like you who are willing to give up their freedom like scared little girls.
F U C K F O X and assholes like you.
You are just a mouth-breathing bush suckass. Go back to watching Britney’s chaotic and sucking down garbage beer.
Don’t worry, the Arabs will protect your ports while china dumps our $$ and your burger flipping job won’t seem so bad.

Land of the Puppet People
Manipulate the American citizenry into a warmongering escapade
Never before has a society been afforded the wealth and excessiveness that we possess, yet neither has a citizenry been subjected to the consequences invariably arising in order to achieve those ends. Unhappiness, depression, financial hardship, stress, inner demons, anger, dislike, psychological problems, undisciplined and unreared children are some of the costs of maintaining our standards of living. The escapism needed to forget the madness of these costs, accumulated year after year, in daily life, work, finances and society, stands like an idol ready to be worshipped in the middle of our homes, its dark screen awakened with the push of a remote control.
It is the television, that drug of mental escapism and intellectual erosion, the invaluable purveyor of fantasy and fiction, that serves to distract, distort and alleviate the stresses of a life made exceedingly harder by the continued growth of the corporatist state, where profit will always supercede people and the interests of the corporation will always trump those of the People. Yet in the television we also see the greatest tool of mass manipulation ever created, in the last few decades discovered by government and corporate interests for the incredible power emanating from its warm glow. In the span of a couple of decades it has transformed human society, acting as the corporate and governmental invasion of our homes, and into our brainwaves, affecting both the innocent and the old, indiscriminately penetrating the minds of black and white, male and female.
The propaganda emanating from its waves and the fiction produced by its owners has mutated American society into one of slouching couch potatoes, dumbed down ignoramuses, lazy and indifferent citizens, unthinking drones and brainwashed primates, turning a citizenry of creativity, vision, imagination and intelligence into one devoid of each, eroding the minds of experience and altering those of innocence, slowly catapulting America into the precipice of intellectual and knowledge collapse. It is the television that has created the amnesia running rampant from Pacific to Atlantic, saturating us with the brain manipulations of the corporatist world, creating a population needing the sensationalist programming designed to dumb down and distract, feeding into our minds senseless garbage of celebrity adoration and idol worship, introducing us to wave after wave of scheming advertisements and the thoughts and opinions the Establishment want us to incorporate as our own.
March 1st, 2006 at 5:59 pmGood job, Anthony. Good work.
March 1st, 2006 at 6:00 pmI think he’s on oxycontin, but I doubt if it’s just one drug. His bragging may change from time to time, and I only catch him on radio when scanning. I think he says something like, “I’m on loan from God.” I’m sure he doesn’t know how bad that sounds, but maybe his drugs keep him from knowing much of anything.
I caught Ingram, being all upset about the negative reporting going on about Iraq. These 2 have their work cut out for them flying in the face of reality the way they have all these years, and I guess now its just different as in tougher; and still come across as an responsible, human being.

How can you say things are getting better more attacks in 2005 than 2004? In every catagory you post the numbers are higher for 2005 than 2004, so an esclating insurgency if not a slow boiling civil war is democracy on the march , not a worsening of the situation?
March 1st, 2006 at 6:06 pm101# thats what i tried to say the media is more at fault than Bush , but without the killing murdering bit that Bush does
March 1st, 2006 at 6:06 pm“The United States Constitution: Made up by the media?”
March 1st, 2006 at 6:06 pmYou gotta love Fox News- always ready to spout the latest GOP talking point, 24/7. It’s like a never-ending campaign commercial.
It is clear, based on recent statements by William Kristol, Bill Buckley and others on the Right, that they now realize Iraq has been an utter failure and are already politically working to place blame on anyone other than Bush. This Fox News crap is just part of that.
They will blame the media, they will blame liberals, they will blame democrats and on and on. Great leadership, huh? One of the thing about great Presidents in the past (FDR, Truman, etc) was an ability to take responsibility for THEIR agenda and THEIR decisions. This is a leadership quality that is totally lost on Bush and his loyalists. Karl Rove spends most of his time trying to insulate Bush from everything and the media just sits back and allows it.
Look at the whole Plamegate scandal- BUsh just sat back and played dumb even though it involved his top aides. When WMDs weren’t found, it was all the CIA’s fault despite the evidence trickling out that the administration cherry-picked the intelligence it liked and ignored all the evidence that contradicted their decision to invade Iraq. Hurricane Katrina? Everyone else’s fault. Then with the Dubai Port scandal, the administration is claiming Bush didn’t know about it until it was in the papers- so he’s either an idiot or a liar.
This is the “take no responsibility” President.
Shameful.
March 1st, 2006 at 6:07 pm54, uh-huh.

Google news corp+sec
Im tired of linking whats been linked once and the thorough debunking that media is ‘liberal’
The boys and girls at Fox are in it for the money. Hannity - O’Reilly sold their souls along time ago. They are interested in one thing. Self promotion and the money it brings.
They are interested in pulling 1% of the US population so they can be paid millions. Boycott everything FOX - get a little more exercise - take a walk. Focus on your self and leave these ass clowns to their fate. The are desperate because they are tethered to Bush.

Can you point out any Facts in this?
Naw, its Paranoid Blame Game.
People, perhaps as you, take this is literally.
Perhaos it fits that Racial Bias they have
so in a way to them it is a ‘Fact’
The Fact is really nothing more than Opinion.
Read this Gerald;

Julie Burchill, writing in Haaretz on February 17:
“Anyway, from now on I think I’ll get just a few less accusations of racism when I point out that Muslims can be a bit, well, narrow-minded. Mind you, it’s a long hard struggle trying to make bleeding-heart liberals see sense. Especially when you live in a country where a sizable part of the print and broadcasting media are such guilt-ridden cretins when it comes to Islam that if they saw Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein sexually sharing their own grandmother, they’d swear the poor old lady asked for it.”

Capice?
No Spudge,I meant US deaths. Few people here are going to clamor for change based on Iraqi deaths, sad though that is.
March 1st, 2006 at 6:25 pmI just don’t see the groundswell becoming more of a factor for us leaving soon without the rate of US casualties increasing.
There was an interesting story about the Marines in Anbar province who haven’t really heard of the mosque attack and the new round of sectarian violence.

The real fun will begin in a couple of years when the Pentagon, CIA staffers, Military can speak freely. Bush will go down in history as the most pathetic leader of modern times.
He should be like Grant drink thru his remaining term…oh thats right Grant had military experience…he could not even live up to Grant’s legacy
Clueless to the end - He may a breakdown before end of term.
March 1st, 2006 at 6:27 pmHow about after Bush’s heroic prevention of the “Liberty” Tower (aka the Library tower aka The US Bank Tower) being destroyed by evil doers FOXnews showed the scene from the film Independence Day where the tower was zapped by Aliens. You can’t make this stuff up.

What’s the name of his stupid show?
This is how Fox/Saudi News describes Cavuto’s show:
“”Your World with Neil Cavuto” offers news and insight on Wall Street and other market activities, while wrapping up the business news of the day.”
Also, remember how Cavuto predicted that the markets would love George Bush during the 2000 campaign?
March 1st, 2006 at 6:46 pmI think it’s time. Time for each and every one of to put a stop to this. It’s not funny and it’s counter productive for democracy and America.
It’s the fault of our fellow Americans. They are to blame. Bush and the Republicans are only using them.
It’s time to finally realize that the only thing that is understood is violence. Nothing else works.
Nothing else can override the brainwashing of a fat guy from Florida and a world activist for religious terrorism from Australian.
It’s time. It’s scary. It’s heartbreaking. It’s time to cut out the cancer so the patient can live on.
The only decision is how?
March 1st, 2006 at 6:46 pm“According to the Washington Post, at least 1300 people have died in violence since last week’s bombing of a holy Shiite shrine in Samarra.”

March 1st, 2006 at 6:54 pmGerald gibson, is that all that is left for you to do is make an overly broad statement, change the subject and offer nothing of your own but criticism. Why you sound like a democrat. Isn’t that the way the GOP frames the Democratic oppostion? How ironic.

March 1st, 2006 at 6:57 pmAs they deny the numbers of the dead, what would they call this war in Iraq?
March 1st, 2006 at 6:59 pmThis is Bush’s legacy. This is his history.
This is FOX-TV’s reputation - propagandists.
What part of the following won’t ReichWingNuts believe? What part of reality can’t their little wrinkled brains understand?
This is heart wrenching stuff. And George W. Bush is entirely responsible for this disaster. Ah, but the Boy King is made of Teflon.
If we can’t take care of our own, nobody will. The world watches and waits for our formerly great republic to completely fail. FOX News will continue to report that it’s Christmas all over the place. They are the reason why the revolution won’t be televised.
…We woke up this morning to news that men wearing Iraqi security uniforms walked in and detonated explosives, damaging the mosque almost beyond repair. It’s heart-breaking and terrifying. There has been gunfire all over Baghdad since morning. The streets near our neighborhood were eerily empty and calm but there was a tension that had us all sitting on edge. We heard about problems in areas like Baladiyat where there was some rioting and vandalism, etc. and several mosques in Baghdad were attacked. I think what has everyone most disturbed is the fact that the reaction was so swift, like it was just waiting to happen.
All morning we’ve been hearing/watching both Shia and Sunni religious figures speak out against the explosions and emphasise that this is what is wanted by the enemies of Iraq- this is what they would like to achieve- divide and conquer. Extreme Shia are blaming extreme Sunnis and Iraq seems to be falling apart at the seams under foreign occupiers and local fanatics.
No one went to work today as the streets were mostly closed. The situation isn’t good at all. I don’t think I remember things being this tense- everyone is just watching and waiting quietly. There’s so much talk of civil war and yet, with the people I know- Sunnis and Shia alike- I can hardly believe it is a possibility. Educated, sophisticated Iraqis are horrified with the idea of turning against each other, and even not-so-educated Iraqis seem very aware that this is a small part of a bigger, more ominous plan…
Several mosques have been taken over by the Mahdi militia and the Badir people seem to be everywhere. Tomorrow no one is going to work or college or anywhere.
People are scared and watchful. We can only pray.

March 1st, 2006 at 7:20 pmAnybody up on the current percentage of Insurgents that are actually Al-Qualude? That’s why they don’t want to call it a civil war because that would be admitting that Al-Queda doesn’t really make up that much of the forces fighting us . IT”S THE IRAQIS, fighting us.
March 1st, 2006 at 7:28 pmIT’S WORTHWHILE NOTING, for Journalism Majors, Journalists, and especially those that read Journals: This use of the ‘question mark’ in Fox’s on-screen graphic…
Civil War In Iraq: Made Up By The Media?
…now, what kind of reporting is it, that gives it’s readers (or listeners or viewers) ‘questions’ in the headline (or the copy for that matter), when it’s just the opposite you’d expect (which are ‘answers’ of course); what kind of ‘reporting’ is that?
It’ no reporting at all. It’s an attempt to raise doubt where there may be certainty, to raise confusion where there may be uncertainty, and to raise interest where there may be none really at all.
Scandal sheets, gossip rags, snake-oil salesman, marketing/advertisers, politicians, guilty suspects, and Fox News: All those whose ’stock in trade’ is raisng doubt, confusion, and interest in the noise.
But not Journalists, or Journalism. Please.
Regarding the talkling point of ‘Civil War’ in Iraq, and the point behind the Fox on-screen graphic ‘question’:
Don’t think for a second that this is an indication of that talking point ‘not flying’ so to speak; it’s not an example of a trial ballon that ‘popped’, so to speak; it, the ‘Civil War’ talking point, just didn’t fly so high or so straight is all (so to speak).
Not at the start anyway.
But it’ll be back, to serve it’s purpose; it’ll be flown and floated again, so to speak; it’s a necessary way for this administration to ‘honorably’ characterize the ‘Anarchy’ they have created in Iraq.
And that’s what it is, violent ‘Anarchy’; it’s not the ‘Civil War’ that this administration, and their stooges, would have the American People believe; a ‘Civil War’ for the People, and their Military, to take sides in; to fight in, on the side of the ‘Good Guy’…
…to further justify the continued presence of so many U.S. Troops in Iraq, long after they’ve discovered no WMD’s; long after the ‘Regime’ has been toppled; long after Sadaam has been captured; long after the Iraqi Elections of Dec. 15, 2005; and long after the ‘Anarchy’ that the administration created has consumed the ‘Democracy’ that is not there now,
and was never there before,
and will never be there ever.
It’ll be back, though; the talking point of ‘Civil War’ in Iraq; you can be sure of it…
…there’s no question (mark) about it.
