Sharon you confuse my providing the facts of the corporate transaction (the payment by DPW of 520 pence per share to P&O shareholders) with either approval or disapproval. Congress has no authority at present to undo the transaction. Congress would have to craft a new piece of legislation to accomplish the goal you seek and/or the pres. would have to agree to buy out the value of the ports in the US.

No one can make an informed decision on whether or not it is a “done deal” based on the information that has been released thus far. If CFIUS gave approval, yet all the legal steps were not followed, their approval is a nullity, as if it never happened. The contract could either be rescinded or voided.

I would hazard to guess that if the “done deal” does not go through, it will take teams of lawyers on both sides countless hours of legal research and brief writing to explain just why this is or is not a “done deal.” This will be all the more difficult because He does not want to release any information as to how this deal was struck without the proper vetting.

Saying “well, they’re not in charge of security” is like hiring a former bank robber to be a bank teller and saying “well, protecting the money is the security guard’s job.”
