All I want is for my government to

Stop selling my country to terrorists,
and Stop illegally spying on Americans.

  3. WiscoDuk says:

Can’t wait for the spin on this…

Funny how when things like this come up- “conservatives” seperate themselves from being republicans.

  4. snookered says:

    What’s a trillion here or there????? C’mon?
Wouldn’t it be so “reality based” to throw in those other trivial expenses, you know…..the wars.

  5. the fly-man says:

I wan’t to see the receipts for it all. Can you imagine personally spending that much of your income and never wondering where it went, or if it was well spent at all? WiscoDuk your are so right. The party of smaller government, yeah they never said they meant the amount you get to control, I thought they meant in spending.

  6. profmarcus says:

    lying… denying… no difference in bushworld…

had it been in frist’s hands, the language would simply have been inserted AFTER the vote was taken…

“Literally minutes before the Senate cast its vote” on Sept. 14, 2001, Daschle wrote, the White House asked to insert the words “in the United States” into the use-of-force resolution. “I could see no justification for Congress to accede to this extraordinary request for additional authority,” Daschle added. “I refused.”

Assistant Attorney General William Moschella, responding yesterday to questions from Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), wrote that “we do not recall such a discussion with former Senator Daschle and are not aware of any record reflecting such a conversation.” Justice Department spokesman Brian Roehrkasse, asked about the letter, said Moschella was referring only to Justice Department officials.

Daschle, in a telephone interview yesterday, stood by his account. “They can deny it, but it happened,” Daschle said, “and there’s no question in my mind that the reason” is that Bush advisers “feared that they didn’t have the authority” to exercise war powers domestically without the inserted language.

in the bushworld dictionary, denial and lying are synonyms…

  7. Clyde the Ripper says:

The Democratic Congress next year can get it back from Haliburton and Exxon. They can also claim a new National Park in Crawford, Texas called Liars Lair, an ex-ranch with hat but no head of (or) cows. There are numerous other sources of recovery as well: Abramoff’s Abyss, Cheney’s Chasm, Delay’s Dump, Rice’s Riches, Rummy’s Ruins, etc.

  8. vesparia says:

What a tragedy that there is no outcry and revolt from the Democratic party as a whole or from the American people. Anyone voting for Bu$hs insane spending should be voted OUT.

  9. Bush is Watching You 24/7 says:

You good folks owe it to yourselves to listen to Diane Rehm NPR from yesterday hour 2. Lot of conservative Bush bashing!

  10. Clyde the Ripper says:

  11. Briseadh na Faire says:

And remember, the cost of the Iraq War is not a budget item, it is funded through emergency supplemental authorizations.

    The solution?

    1. Eliminate taxes on the wealthiest 5%.
    2. Eliminate entitlement programs such as Social Security, food stamps, and AFDC.
    3. Increase Corporate tax breaks.
    4. Prevent same-gender marriage.
    5. Punish girls for the failure of contraceptives or for being victims of rape through forced gestation.
    6. A Federal take-over of public education.
    7. Distribute Federal Education funds through vouchers only.
    8. Sign more Free-Trade agreements which facilitate out-sourcing jobs to foreign countries.
    9. Repeal the federal minimum wage law.
    10. When all else fails, BLAME CLINTON!

  12. big papa says:

The rich are padding their progeny’s future, on the backs of the America’s poor/middle working class masses…

…it’s right in front of our eyes, every time Bushiva has a propaganda talking points session with his inbred supporters…

…he invariably “calls on Congress to make the tax cuts permanent“…

…there is no way on God’s earth Bushiva should be able to travel unmolested in this country…

protestors should block all access roads to and from airports where he has to land during his travels

…but ultimately, this demon MUST be impeached

    …or America is lost

  13. katy says:

just an f.y.i. – i just received a call from the Democratic Senate some-such…he asked “how are you this morning?” …i’m a truth teller: “tell those guys to grow a set and get a spine – convey that message from me, because i’m really pissed off about this patriot act vote.” …”yes, maam, i can understand your feelings. thank you” …then, a mutual “good bye”

fair warning – they’re on the hunt for funds…wish i could oblige at this time…

  14. Godfry Daniel says:

Good thing it’s not real money.

  15. Bush is Watching You 24/7 says:

    katy,
    Here’s what you say:

    Mr/Mrs Congressperson,
If you legislated according to your district’s desires you wouldn’t need funds. So go F*CK yourself.

    Sincerely,

    Ain’t takin’ it no more.

  16. Marie says:

Remember the Carl Sagan oft-quoted phrase: Billions and billions? He was referring to outer space.
Maybe the Bush plan is to drive up the numbers with so many zeroes following the $ it will become incomprehensible to the public, who will just throw up their hands and say, “whatever”.

  17. Clif says:

The 1.2 trillion is in addition to the over 3 trillion he already added to the debt.

George Bush is running the country just likr he did as a private citizen business man, right into bankrupcy, but at least when he was a private citizen he had daddy’s ric friends to bail himself out and buy up his failures. This time we the citizens will get stuck with the bill ………..unless……………….wait ………….maybe some of daddy’s rich foriegn friends would like to purchase pieces of a nearly bankrupt country, yes that might work.

  18. Marie says:

Clif, your post #196 on 3/3 — can’t get it out of my head.

  19. Ron says:

    It’s only money.

The Pentagong is waging a war on bloggers. So everything must now be doublethink and doublespeak. George Bush is the smartest man alive. He is here to help us all. The war in Iraq is a good war that will be won by the US of A. The US of A rules the world. Everything you know is wrong. You’re never right. You should feel blessed to be alive today, March 4, 2006. It’s heaven on earth.

Long Live George Bush. The Pentagong will win the war on bloggers. Have a nice day. Spy versus Spy. Amen

  21. Clif says:

Marie that post is why I and many veterans who have been there are against war except as the very last resort. We do not need a fear based preemption by those who have not served and are too scared to.

  22. Pete Bogs says:

how much of that amount is going to the war on terra? and how much of THAT is going to the next weapon in the war – sharks with frickin’ electrodes implanted in their brains?

  24. TJM says:

I have read the CBO letter to Sen Cochran and I don’t know where the NYT got their figures. From p.2 of the letter:”Deficits under the President’s budget would total $2.1 trillion over the 10 years from 2007 through 2016-$1.4 trillion higher than under current law,as projected in CBO’s latest baseline (note that CBO baseline incorporates the assumption that current laws and policies remain unchanged).
Table 1 in the report shows the 2007-2016 on-budget deficit to total $4.3 trillion offset by excess social security receipts (off-budget) of $2.2 trillion resulting in the Pres. budget deficit of $2.1 trillion.

  26. Cyra Brown says:

Well, it’s not like he’s picking up the “tab”. He will be long gone, leaving others to struggle with the mess he will be leaving behind. But we should just take a page from their book, and as soon as we can, just undo all of the crap they’ve foisted on us, that alone will make a huge difference. Then some investigations into those insane “no-bid” contracts. I’m pretty sure we’ve got a refund coming. There are many ways to “find” some money. Just gotta know where to look.

  27. Tobey Tall says:

The bottom line on the bourse is this; the dollar is underwritten by a national debt that now exceeds $8 trillion dollars and trade deficits that surpass $600 billion per year. That means that the greenback is the greatest swindle in the history of mankind. It’s utterly worthless. The only thing that keeps the dollar afloat is that oil is traded exclusively in greenbacks rather than some other currency. If Iran is able to smash that monopoly by trading in petro-euros then the world’s central banks will dump the greenback overnight, sending markets crashing and the US economy into a downward spiral.

  28. Briseadh na Faire says:

Since 2000 Iraq had used the euro as oil export currency. In 2002, Iraq changed its US dollars into euro, a few months prior to the 2003 invasion of Iraq….

On March 20, 2006, Iran is planning to open an International Oil Bourse (IOB, exchange) for the express purpose of trading oil priced in other currencies, including euros.

  30. British Gary says:

#27, Toby Tall, exactly! As more time goes by American debts mount up and Bush needs his middle-east oil/control more and more.

yesterday I wrote china and russia are running their first ever joint military exercises, today china announces it will increase its military spending 14.7% to $35.3 billion.

The icing on the cake? China historically understates its military budget!

  31. wisedup says:

daddy must tell chimp boy..’yer do’in a hecova job son’,the bush family has all the money, and now we own the U.S. Grandpaw prescott (nazi money maker) would be so proud of you boy.

  34. Tobey Tall says:

    especially this bit
Iran has strategic alliances with other powerful nations that may trigger their involvement in war; Iran reputedly has such alliance with China, India, and Russia, known as the Shanghai Cooperative Group, a.k.a. Shanghai Coop and a separate pact with Syria

    Great link 29#

  35. Marie says:

I had not read that before today.
    Thanks for the link/info.

  36. Lisa the Lurker says:

When will the true republicans and conservatives come to their senses and denounce this man and his administration as traitors to their political values? PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, true republicans, true conservatives…..hold your elected officials accountable. Borrowing money on the backs of our children and grandchildren and great grandchildren, etc., etc. is just not okay. PLEASE, remember your core values and help stop this madness.

  37. Butch says:

GOP, paleocons, true conservatives: This is being done in your name. Has there ever been greater fiscal irresponsibility? He’s stealing from everybodies kids. A financial obligation like this is a tax that we owe.

  38. WaltTheMan says:

    #37 – Butch,
Interesting, that was my moniker as a boy, Pop was Jr. Gramps was Walter and we all shared the same first name. We chose Chip for my son and he uses it professionally.
    Back to basics.
The debt being amassed by this admin is going to crush our nation if it is not abated.
Destroying the most successful nation in history is going to be W’s legacy. Our military is already strapped and the economy is strained. At the last estimate, there are 8 million missing jobs. I have moved almost all of my assets overseas. My home is a problem because it sits in the United States.

  39. mr ho says:

Yeh Conservative bashing. After they elected the fool in charge.
Why? because they can’t blame anyone else.

  40. Doreen Mann says:

When are we as voters of this country going to start holding these politicians accountable. I wish eveyone would go and read about Neoconservatism and find learn about what they believe in. Then you will see why we are in the mess we are in. They do not care about the debt. They want to get rid of everything that the government helps pay for and only have money go to Defense. President Bush was planning this war when he was governor of Texas. They only believe in POWER and want Power. We need to vote out all the people who support him and his believes. We need to fight and get our country back. The land of the Free. We will not be free under this administration. There are a number of web sites out that are about Impeaching this president and maybe we aught to think about this. Can we take 3 more years of this president?????
