We can greatly admire those from among us that step into harm’s way in defense of all of the rest of us.

We need not admire those that twist support for our brave troops to justify their questionable actions and judgment—particularly when what is proposed and excused mires our service men and women in a place of grave danger.

These magnificent members of our military stand and fight and do not hide behind anyone; the man that has sent them there should not try to hide behind them.

How long will George W. Bush try to conceal his misjudgment behind their valiant service? In his State of the Union, he claimed we cannot fail in Iraq. The fact is that Bush already has. His war in Iraq is a failure and the task we now face it to pick up the pieces as best we can.

The failure is not that of our troops; it is that of a man who has misused their valor, dedication to duty, and precious lives. The failure is also that of those that are still willing to tolerate his disgracefully incompetent leadership.

All distortions that attempt to mask the horror that is Iraq will not change what is obvious; we have an incredibly incompetent president backed by a straggling band of sycophants. This man can only lead sheep--may his dwindling flock of followers have a nice bah, bah, bah.

With the American electorate so totally disgusted with George W. Bush's incompetent leadership on matters both at home and abroad, and maybe even from outer space, Carl Rove's new propaganda tactic seems to be: Hey, this administration and Republican Congress has screwed things up so badly that you don't dare turn the mess over to anyone else.

By the way, is the Bush manned mission to Mars back yet - and will the Martians also benefit from Bush's Social Security reform, his reconstructive improvements in New Orleans and Bagdad, the mission accomplished, and ... ah?

Hey, so the guy has had a bit of bad luck. But as President Harry Truman once asked the American people: "How many times do you have to get hit on the head with a hammer before you ask who is hitting you?"

It is time to give Bush and the boys in the backroom the answer: a boot in the butt.

“Incompetent” is the word most used when increasing numbers of Americans are asked to describe President Bush. This Pew Research finding is not surprising considering Bush’s leadership failures.

He has been unable to motivate his administration or anyone else to get things done. Even when he passes off his responsibility onto others, be it business, local government or foreign lands, he fails in using the bully pulpit to inspire others to make things happen.

This failure at the helm stands in contrast to other presidents that have with few words inspired others to undertake even arduous personal tasks of minimal import to the nation. To wit, back in 1963 President John F. Kennedy jocularly suggested that his chubby press secretary, Pierre Salinger, demonstrate the physical fitness of the White House staff by walking fifty miles in twenty hours.

By Monday following JFK’s offhand remark, thousands of Americans picked up the challenge and were off and walking. When European television showed images of these marchers, a walking craze swept Europe and on as far as Japan. To this day there is an annual Kennedy March in Sittard, Netherlands.

In a more serious matter of later times, lest we forget President Ronald Reagan’s motivating words to one of this nation’s most intractable enemies: “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!” And he did.

Of course, those were the days of men who successfully changed the tenor of their times; in these, Bush apologists fudge the times in diminution of the man’s inadequacies.

[...] The Republicans are getting indicted right and left, and voters are disgusted with their corruption. The Bush Administration has been exposed over and over again as incompetent, from their bumbling Iraq war “strategy” to their inept response to Hurricane Katrina. Republican members of congress up for reelection are running for the hills, the White House staff is getting the hell out of town and President Bush, who claims he pays no attention to opinion polls, surely must be aware that opinion polls are saying that two out of three people have a very low opinion of his performance in office, even as regards his only strong suit, blasting the living daylights out of other countries. What’s a committed right-wing Christian fundamentalist neocon puppet president to do? [...]

The immigration bill was 500 pages long for the purpose of hiding loop holes to allow all the people here to stay here.
These loopholes were hidden deep within the bowels of the bill and every body knows that when you go deep into the bowels all you get is stink, exactly what this bill did...
STINK
This was a sham that was going to be perpertraited on the american public.
Second point I would like to make is that I saw the junior senator from my state John the flip flop Kerry on the television today saying that its not a good idea for the pentagon to be making contingency plans for an attack on Iran. All I can say is it is a good thing he wasnt the president during the cold war or we wouldnt make plans against the russians until after they attacked. What an idiot.....
Keep telling the truth to the thinking american public.........

For those of us who were drafted and sent to Vietnam, and who served every minute
of our enlistment, we are not surprised by the level of incompetance of the draft dodgers who are in political control of our military. America does not need a John Wayne, "Bring it on", we need a Harry Truman or Dwight Eisonhower. It is little wonderwhyoseofuswho did our duty in a war far from home, absolutely hate Bush, Frist, Hastert, Delay, and the whole lying, cheating, bunch of draft dodgers who
have taken this country back 20 years. I will not live long enough to see my country
prosper as it once did before Bush. Please bring back Cllinton, sexual descretions and all. Better yet give Bush and Cheney what they so richly deserve, impeachment.

Bush and Cheney are cowards. They showed what they were made during the Vietnam
war.

Incompetent? Managing to strip American workers of their pensions, health care, tax dollars, and transfer wealth to the wealthy? Managing to stack the Supreme Court in your favor? Able to leap tall tales in a single bound, and not hear a peep from the Democrats? Able to get stories that promote only your side slathered all over the MSM? Establish a heavy footprint in a Middle Eastern country with lots of oil, and terrorize the American public regularly with scare stories of Osama and Saddam and Nuclear Iran?

Come on. The "incompetence" meme only works if you EVER thought that good governance in the best interests of the American people was EVER on BushCo's agenda. It never was, it never will be, and there the "incompetence" canard disappears in a whiff. They're VERY competent at everything they've achieved so far--it's just that none of it does anyone but BushCo and Friends of BushCo any good.

#114 Mighty Hypocrite,
Is the only defense you can offer now for our Liar-in-Chief's choice to cut brush on his Crawford ranch rather than pay attention to FBI reports and other warnings during August 2001 about a likely attack on US soil and his decision to keep on reading the goat book even after told about the attacks on the World Trade Center a not particularly cute putdown of Al Gore? Pathetic!
I--and probably most other people using this site--believe that Al Gore would have paid attention to the ample warnings, just as he has had the foresight to recognize various impending environmental problems--something confirmed by most scientists and even some conservatives nowadays but still denied by the Busheviks.

#109 - ma,
Actually, the dear enjoys a privileged life - goes to preschool, lives in a community with a park (including swimming pool and playground) directly outside her back yard and earns more as a child model than most engineers do at engineering. She vacations at Cape Cod, Puerto Rico and Florida every year for about one week (sometimes two) per slice. Whenever she arrives at a beach, she says, "Hello ocean , ****** is back." She also does an excellent Judy Garland impersonation on her Karaoke machine.

#112 - Doghouse - I know Gore would have jumped up from a chair in the midst of a classroom full of second graders and brandished a sword, a rocket launcher AND a camera. After that he would have leapt tall buildings in a single bound - of course, he would have planted a well-timed lip-lock on Tipper and taken her breath away BEFORE he leapt the tall building.

So GWB didn’t exactly have a direct hand in the events of 9/11?? Knowing that the Clinton administration warned the incoming administration about the Al Quaeda air threat, I think the entire catastrophe could have been averted if EVERY SINGLE airplane in US airspace were grounded after 01/22/01. Your thoughts?

Mighty Hypocrite,
So you're back at the grounding every single airplane after 01/22/01 chestnut again, eh? While it is true that outgoing Clinton security advisor Sandy Berger warned Condi about Al Qaeda, the report titled "Bin Ladin Determined to Attack in the US" and the reports from FBI agents about the suspicious number of Arabs enrolled in US flight schools just wanting to learn how to fly--not to land came over the summer of 2001, just when Dumbya chose not to interrupt his long summer vacation. Besides, I'm sure a government truly interested in national security could have taken steps other than grounding all flights. Give up that chestnut, Mighty dear; it's rather trite.

Question:

Why did Chimpy McFlightsuit just sit there with that stupid look on his face after Andrew Card whispered to him that America was under attack?

It just does not make sense at all, unless he was either in on it.
