The President’s budget will eliminate Medicaid reimbursements for schoolchildren with disabilities, denying them “access to medical services they need to fully participate in school and learn to their greatest abilities.” It cuts funding for medical equipment on buses, transportation to medical appointments, and the administrative costs of identifying children with special medical and learning needs.

If schools are no longer able to seek reimbursement for these services, costs will shift to districts and states already grappling with fiscal constraints. First of all you don’t need to ‘control’ the government in order to have influence and power. The fact is many of the key NeoCon folks are Jewish, and their policies are remarkably anti-islamic and pro-israel. I understand that the majority of jewish people are more liberal than conservative, but you must also recognize that some are like Feith who are conservative and bonafide spies for Israel.

Not recognizing that there are radical rightwing pro-israel jews is like not recognizing there’s a Mehlman who’s gay. Some private schools did well, just as some public schools did well. There was no overall improvement in scores however, which was your ‘point’ I’m guessing? That’s largely going to be the same whether or not someone is poor. The vouchers are miniscule compared to the cost of a decent private or parochial school. Someone who ‘claims’ to have attended private school would know this.

What you’re REALLY saying is that wealthy people shouldn’t have to pay for the public school system, because vouchers would let them recoup their investments. And what you’re also saying is that rich people should be able to siphon off school taxes for private and religious madrasas while the poor kids suffer in sub-par schools (public or private).

Well to be honest I am a strange mix of cruel and naive. Because I would actually be happy to see M.A. step up to the plate of real debate and thought. It hasn’t happened yet. But you never know, and unlike a lot of people I like to be proven wrong.
