for the Plame leak, according to former Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee. Last November, The Nation’s David Corn noted that Armitage was “the only person on the Official Speculation List who [had] not yet denied” being Woodward’s source.
dLondon — no one says David Corn got the scoop. Ben Bradlee, who was Woodward’s editor during the Watergate period, has the alleged scoop. We’re merely noting that there has been speculation about Armitage for many months…
#4 – Even if they found proof that Pres. Bush or VPres. Cheney ordered someone to leak the name, nothing will come of it.
The Republican party is no longer the party of “personal responsibility”. They will make sure someone else takes the blame, because they refuse to take responsibility for any of their own actions.
Also, they’ve probably made sure that any evidence, if it ever existed, was done away with before they started shedding crocodile tears about how bad it was that this happened.
I don’t know guys, I still think it was Scooter or Cheney or even Dubya…It doesn’t make sense for Armitage to say Cheney committed potential war crimes -but yet “out” a CIA undercover officer. Sure, he knew-because his boss, Powell knew. He saw a memo about it on Air Force one-it was labled Secret.
if he was the only one that didn’t deny being the source, given the track record on everyone in this administration spouting lies, logic can conclude he was the only one that wasn’t the source =)
Why Armitage? What would he possibly have to gain from acting like Cheney’s butt boy? Up until now, I thought that the speculation was that Armitage was one of the folks who had been leaking to the press from a pro-Fitzgerald perspective. Armitage also fits the description of “no partisan gunslinger.”
Interesting… I was wondering if the Plame Affair would resurface.
What’s Mr. Fitzgerald up to these days? Is KKKarl Rove ready to select the wallpaper for his jail cell? Is Darth Cheney being fitted for a black helmet/breathing aperatice?
David Corn and others pegged Armitage early on — he’s a Negroponte-style neo-con operative with a long history in dirty-ops. Also a signee of the brilliant PNAC Strategy for Worldwide US Embarrassment and Eventual Relegation to Banana-Republic Status.
It’s no surprise that he’d have the info. I’m just not sure who benefits from him taking the hit, if he does. Or, who else his involvement would implicate. Of course, in either case, only 2 or 3 names come to mind.
While I love a good scoop as much as the next guy, does the process of elimination qualify as hard evidence?

March 13th, 2006 at 12:51 pmaaaack!
Any chance Darth told Armitage to leak the data?
Lets all hope so. Maybe we could get a memo signed by both Darth & King dumbya to that effect. Naaa. I don’t think so.

March 13th, 2006 at 1:02 pmInteresting. Any other source than Drudge? I read it twice and now I have to go scrub my eyes with a brillo pad.

Better question is: What’s Bradlee’s stake?
March 13th, 2006 at 2:52 pmTime out……
“‘That Armitage is the likely source is a fair assumption,’ former WASHINGTON POST editor Ben Bradlee said.”"
This is not a confirmation whatsoever!
