Fellow Senators Praise Feingold’s Censure Resolution

First, Sen. Lincoln Chaffee (R-RI). From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island, offered some praise for Feingold, saying the resolution would be “positive” if it fueled debate over the legality of some policies in the war on terrorism.

Also, Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA), who said he would vote for censure. From the Washington Post:

“The president broke the law and he needs to be held accountable,” [Harkin] said. “Talk about high crimes and misdemeanors!” Harkin said he’ll vote for the Feingold resolution — if it comes up.

Nevertheless, the AP reports “not a single Democrat has embraced” Feingold’s censure resolution.

UPDATE: Sen. Harkin is now the first official co-sponsor of Feingold’s resolution:

In a brief interview, Harkin said, “I think it makes sense. … Quite frankly, I think we ought to have a full-fledged debate on this.” …

Feingold said that even though support for his resolution is low so far, he believes he is already meeting his goal of reopening the debate on the matter.

“I’ve achieved what I wanted to achieve,” Feingold said, adding that he still hopes his resolution will pass. “I’m very pleased with what has happened.”

Yes, Yes, Yes!!! The people got pissed off and you guys grew some ears!!! Go get 'em Russ!!

    Feingold '08

  2. Jesus Christ God of WAR Says:

    Someone is finally getting it.

As the article posted says, “The president broke the law and he needs to be held accountable,” [Harkin] said. “Talk about high crimes and misdemeanors!” Harkin said he’ll vote for the Feingold resolution...

Indeed. The President broke the law. Period.

Now, let's talk impeachment and jail time.

  3. Dem02020 Says:

IT'S UP TO SENATE DEMOCRATS TO SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES, and not up to the AP to speak for them.

And as far as I'm concerned, Sen. Lincoln Chaffee of Rhode Island is a better friend to the American People, and a better foe to a corrupt and lying Administration and Congressional majority, than almost all of the members of the Senate's minority (Sen. Feingold excluded).

  4. SKdeA Says:

Too bad we can't give him a vote as citizens, since our elected officials seem to be having trouble seeing the right thing to do.

  5. mighty aphrodite Says:

Go, RUSS, Go!!! Two more Dems have joined Feingold - the principled RINO Lincoln Chafee and the dependable Dem Sen. Harkin. The movement is picking up steam!!!

Yes dumb a$$ I'd say with 60% disapproval rating the steam is there...

  7. Reality Says:

I expect to see a headline from AP like this:

"Bipartisan Group of Senators Favor Censure".

Think we'll get this from the "liberal media"?

  8. Dem02020 Says:

AND FURTHERMORE REGARDING Sen. Chaffee of Rhode Island:

He is the only, THE ONLY, Republican Senator to vote against authorizing the Administration to use the U.S. Armed Forces aginst the phony 'threat' that they made Iraq out to be.

He was THE ONLY Republican Senator to vote NO on H.J.Res.114.

And I'm sure he is, at this stage, quite Proud that he did so.

As for the 29 Senate Democrats who vote yes to authorizing the President to use the U.S. Armed Forces aginst the phony 'threat' that he made Iraq out to be, who knows (or even cares) how they feel about that, at this stage.

  9. JIMBO Says:

M.A., Usually, I would think of what you said as supportive, but knowing you, I'll take it as lower form of sarcasm.

  10. nemo Says:

I understand Barbara Boxer is also backing censure now.

  11. hotfroggy+ Says:

write, call email your senator and let them know you support this! emaill the dnc, dlc, and everyone you know to help these guys out. i just wrote a scathing note to the dlc and asked wtf are they doing? now go out there and get 'em!!! at least you'll feel better......

    Comment by mighty aphrodite

Hey, Sugar, it's me, Joe. Glad to see you still around. I'm with you here, rubbing it in on the lefties.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but do you suppose that the reason the censure resolution is toast is because the smart democrats want to beat the Repugs over the head with the illegal wiretap issue all the way up to the November elections? Ya think, maybe? Huh? Maybe? I mean, I like you, girl, but don't be the dumb a$$ clif in #6 makes you out to be.

  13. Clif Says:

Joe she can't help herself, shge does it on a daily basis here....

  14. mighty aphrodite Says:

JimBOB - Why a "lower form of sarcasm"? I realize the disappointment many progs must be feeling - to pin so many hopes and dreams on "sham" Dems is disconcerting. Remember, though, the Dem primary will be aimed at the prog wing of the Dems - Feingold will have a chance to shine in the primaries - he seems to be a guy with his "eye on the ball" and won't blow a sensational advantage the way the "primal screamer" Howard Dean did.

  15. nathan Says:

i just called boxer's l.a. office (10 am pst) and she will be supporting feingold's resolution...feinsteins not sure yet.

  16. SKdeA Says:

Would a censure at this point really be a problem? Iwould think that it is a good idea. We don't have the votes for impeachment (until after November!), so why not do what we can now? The crime has been committed. It needs to be on the record.
I would also have a hard time voting again for any Dem that did ot support this, what do they think they are doing by laying low? Write and call and email all your representatives, they need a kick in the behind.

  17. Richard Says:

Saddam on trial for 140 deaths.Bush responsible for maybe 200,000.Maybe the wrong person is on trial.

  18. Liberals Heart Stalin Says:

#10 - of course Boxer is. She is one of the biggest (and lying) partisans in the senate. Feingold is NOT which is why it's such ashame he would push for Bush's censure. It's unconstitutional and designed to incite more partisan hatred in this country.

AND we all know the left always chokes on their own hatred. The GOP is divided right now on many important issues. AN attempt to overturn two elections and impeach Bush would ignite a right-wing revolt you have not seen in years. It will get ugly and we will win. TRUST ME.

  19. Citzen J Says:

"...won’t blow a sensational advantage the way the “primal screamer” Howard Dean did."

Dean didn't "blow" anything- FAUX swiftboated him by playing that clip OVER AND OVER AND OVER, like it EVER actually meant anything. So the guy got excited, so freaking WHAT. Like the Shrub doesn't say amazingly DUMB SH*T every single freaking DAY. But you'll never see THOSE clips on FAUX, will we. The GOP saw Dean for the HUGE threat that he was, so, they issued the Orders to the GOP Propoganda Arm- they were was bound and determined to scuttle his boat and they sho' 'nuff did. Don't be a dumba$$.

  20. mighty aphrodite Says:

#12 - "Correct me if I’m wrong, but do you suppose that the reason the censure resolution is toast is because the smart democrats want to beat the Repugs over the head with the illegal wiretap issue all the way up to the November elections?"
*****Joe, I think the rotgut you've been brewing out behind the outhouse has finally taken it's toll - a severe case of "wet brain". Let the Dems slap their hairless chests about the NSA wiretaps (those pesky feds wanting to intercept conversations with terror sympathizers, relatives etc, and their co-conspirators overseas - damn!) AND CALL for censure. For true Dem believers, I think the winning issue to sway moderate Americans is the COMBINATION AND LINKING of both issues. Afterall, Dems think most Americans are stupid, so a little reiteration might be just what the doctor (Dean) ordered!!!

  21. Citzen J Says:

    "TRUST ME."

No, I don't think I will, thanks. Trusting you assholes is why we're all in the ugly pickle we're in now.

  22. Chris Says:

Sent the following yesterday. Left similar message with local state Demorctratic Executive Director this morning:

To: Senator Ron Wyden, Senator Harry Reid, Senator John Kerry, Senator Edward Kennedy, Senator Tom Harkin, Senator Barbara Boxer, Senator Jack Reed, Senator Robert Byrd, Senator Patrick Leahy, Senator Joseph Biden

    Gentlemen and Lady:

I am writing to all of you to express my complete disappointment, outrage, and unfettered frustration with the Democratic Party and particularly the Senate Democrats in not standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Senator Feingold and the censure resolution he has introduced. Some of you are included because you are the so-called leaders and sought after spokespersons for the Party. Others are included because you are on the record (Ed Schultz show interview) stating your opinion and belief that the President broke the law when he bypassed the FISA court and authorized wire-tapping US citizens. Finally, Senator Wyden, you are included because you are my Senator.
I ask each and every one you to respond to the following questions:

    1. Where is your moral courage? You can talk-the-talk, but when it comes to meaningful action you run for political cover, more worried about your own political career instead of the oath you took to protect and defend the constitution. Both the moderate and extreme branches of the Party will support the censure resolution. Most of us understand that impeachment is not in the cards until the Democrats again have a majority in Congress, but both factions desperately want to see the Party show some backbone and courage.
    2. If the Democrats cannot unite on this issue what issue can they ever unite on? And I am sorry, but criticizing the President does not count. That action is a given. Your approval ratings as members of Congress are as dismal as the President and your Republican counterparts. Right now, most people who will vote Democratic will do so because it is the lesser of two evils, not because they are enamoured with any Democratic vision (there isn’t one).
    3. How is the Democratic Party currently any different than the Republican Party? You certainly don’t seem to understand the world outside the Beltway. What an opportunity you had to distinguish yourself as the party willing to embrace real change by throwing the party muscle behind the candidacy of Paul Hackett. Instead you turn it into a credibility destroying fiasco. The Democratic Party’s incompetence is only exceeded by that of the President and your Republican colleagues.

You have within you the collective power to change course and support Senator Feingold. All it takes is a meeting of the minds and some courage. Show some for a change. Until you do, I will not donate another dime to the Democratic Party.

    CC: Senator Russell Feingold
    Ed Schultz

As Will Rogers used to say, "I am not a member of any organized party, I'm a Democrat".

Well time to get organized. By the way FEINGOLD FOR PRESIDENT!

  26. Liberals Heart Stalin Says:

  28. Liberals Heart Stalin Says:

    #27 - as a Republican, I totally agree.

  29. The Witch Says:

No swiftboating, just Dean’s own words.

Sorry, which words did Mr. Dean say that were a problem?

  30. mighty aphrodite Says:

#19 - Dear Comrade J, How did a lowly little cable station hold such sway as to torpedo the good Doctor??? Dean, in all his "excitement" gave the Repubs they fodder they needed -- and run with it they did. But you must admit it's amazing that GWB overcame the bulls eye placed on his campaign by CBS - don't many more people tune in to CBS than FOX??

  31. The Witch Says:

#27, if Feingold dropped out of the party NOW, while the iron is hot, I can imagine the netroots following him in droves. Then we'd REALLY get a sense of how important the netroots are in this nation, one way or the other.

  32. Jesus Christ God of WAR Says:

#17 - Saddam on trial for 140 deaths. Bush [is] responsible for maybe 200,000. Maybe the wrong person is on trial.

Well, do you think so? Why YES! the wrong person is on trial.

The ReichWingNuts have nothing at this point. Nothing at all to offer this nation, execept fear and spying and greed and lack of building support for New Orleans. That's the party in power. They are responsible for this mess.

We need more Dems to support Conyers and Feingold.

  33. Liberals Heart Stalin Says:

#29 "YEARRRRRRRRGH!!!!" was the one that did him in, but the list of his insanity is endless. The guy was a gift to the GOP - he has foot in mouth disease.

  34. Neal Says:

People don't listen to "Liberals Heart Stalin". He obviosly has no life because I've seen him a few times now on this blog just trying to pick a fight. His obsurd comments speak for themselves. There is no need to respond to them.

  35. Citzen J Says:

"#19 - Dean is an unstable lunatic."

You must be thinking about your Heros the Shrub and the Dick. You know, the ones that invaded a country that had NOTHING to do with attacking us and wasn't a threat. Where ARE those pesky WMDs, anyway? Obviously we know they're not under Shrubbie's desk, hahaha. That was just SO funny. It's great when you can laugh about murdering tens of thousands of innocents, not to mention your own soliders, all based on lies.

Yup, DEAN'S the "lunatic" all right.

  36. Liberals Heart Stalin Says:

"execept fear and spying and greed "

Democrats have nothing, but fear and greed. Spying would imply they were tough on terror and they are not.

  37. kindness Says:

I'm sure they already know "...the right thing to do." The only "trouble" they're having is DOING IT. Hurray for Tom Harkin....now what about the rest of these people who seem perfectly willing to hang Feingold out to dry?! IF ONLY we had a genuine "Opposition Party" instead of a party of aiders and abettors. IF ONLY we the people have the good sense not to become ENABLERS ourselves by re-electing some of these 'leaders' whose only concern is their own careers. It's time they all woke up and smelled the Tar & Feathers.

  40. Sidney S. Keith Says:

FEINGOLD IS LEADING! That is something "the Beltway Dems" are not capable of doing, and now it seems that they are also so afraid of the Bush fasacist machine that they will not follow, either!
So, OKAY, ALREADY! Just let "them" get the HELL OUT OF THE WAY, AND TAKE "THEIR" DNC, "THEIR" DCCC AND THE REST OF "THEIR" WIMPS WITH THEM....
I'm gonna go with Feingold as far as he is willing to go....and I AM NOT EVEN A DEMOCRAT!

  41. Liberals Heart Stalin Says:

  42. The Witch Says:

Fear of what? As for greed, could you remind me how many Democrats vs. how many Republicans are currently under indictment for money laundering and/or conspiracy?

  43. Craig Says:

Is it beyond the realm of possibility that the Neocons have been using their political clout and illegal wiretapping not to pry into the lives of ordinary citizens, but to get dirt on the members of Congress, so as to blackmail them into submission? Think about it…

  46. Liberals Heart Stalin Says:

The left's platform is fear. Fear of your own country, govt and political adversaries. You have no ideas, just hate and fear.

  47. Glenn Becker Says:

    Comment by Liberals Heart Stalin — March 15, 2006 @ 1:27 pm"

LOL Dean was at a freaking RALLY, and by playing the same clip over and over and over and over the "liberal media" transformed him into a screamer and a lunatic.

You conservatives are liars. I'll say it again. You are liars. You are not Christians, that's for sure, and you're too stupid to see that the bonehead you worship more than Christ himself is causing everlasting damage to America at home and abroad.

As for Dean, I wouldn't trust any statement he supposedly made in the media unless I saw the entire statement in context. Every time I have seen him, he has been articulate, intelligent, and cogent. When I realize he could have been President instead of Bush, it makes me very sad tht America has become a nation basically out of its mind.

  50. Liberals Heart Stalin Says:

#47 - please. If the left had their way on international affairs, people like Stalin would be in power. Stop projecting.

    Comment by mighty aphrodite

aphrodite, honey, I like that take. Especially the swaying of moderate Americans when linking issues.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but kinda like the way they have finally linked WMD's to junior's Iraqi war rhetoric. Hey. That shot at Dr. Dean was pretty good. I don't like doctor's too much. Every since that republican, Dr. Frist, claimed that Terry Schiavo's brain dead condition could be reversed. Remember that one? What a total dipshit, huh? And all of Terry's brain-dead supporters, too.

  52. Liberals Heart Stalin Says:

Oh yes, that's me, an Evul Commie!! You people are SO TIRESOME. So, you're parroting the reason of the week for the invasion- 'cuz Saddam was a BAD MAN. Huh, funny- he wasn't a BAD MAN when Rummy was shaking his hand and providing poison gas to kill his fellow Iraqis with, now was he? Of course, you lack the BRAIN to consider this total hypocrisy. You just parrot whatever the GOP tell you to, like a good brownshirt. Got your lyrics to "Duetschland uber alles" all ready to go, do you? People like YOU enabled Hitler.

Actually, I AM in favor of ridding the World of OUR "vicious dictator", for sure.

  54. Glenn Becker Says:

    #47, in re: your

    "Fear of your own country,"

Wrong - simply justified fear of those who have repeatedly abused the country for their own gain and who -- with the help of simpleminded folks like yourself -- have enough power to fulfill their every twisted little Slim-Jim of a whim.

    "govt"

Wrong - simply the abuse of same - see above.

    "and political adversaries."

Mostly wrong. It depends on whether you mean powerless, idea-less slobs like yourself (for whom I feel no fear whatsoever) or power-mad, idea-less slobs like the slob that powerless, idea-less slobs like yourself elected. I do fear idiots who have been granted power. Seems prudent to me.

In short, you are pretty much wrong.

  55. Liberals Heart Stalin Says:

Joe Sixpack - of course, bring up Terri. You already murdered her agaisnt her family's wishes so I think scoring points is a little crude.

  56. Dem02020 Says:

#31 You better believe it's true, that the stomach-revolting failure of the minority party to hear and represent the American People at this time, is making this time ripe for a migration in droves to a third party candidate.

And while that candidate could never purchase the 30 minute blocks of air time that the last third party candidate did (for corporate media reasons known to most here), who would care?

The internet itself has become a better medium than was ever those UHF stations on which the former third party candidate pitched his 30 minute messages.

The time is ripe, and despite all the nonsense that would keep a third party candidate off the ballot in many states (again, nonsense dreamed up in horrified response to the last third party candidate's 20% nationwide success), who would care to that nonsense either?

Bring a pencil to the polling station; insist on writing in the entire name of your candidate, despite their name not appearing on the ballot given you.

    It's a right, and it's the law.

    And it could happen.

  57. Jesus Christ God of WAR Says:

#41 - It was people like you who enabled Bush to send my son to Iraq for one and a half years to protect the oil that you put in your vehicle, so why wouldn't you be for ridding of Hussein or any vicious dictator for that matter, as long as you can have what you want and "get your way".

It's people like you who hate. You hate "liberals" (even though it is they who gave you the five day work week and health care). You hate Islam (even though you don't know the first thing about it). You hate Hillary (even though she might, just might, have your best interests in mind). You hate Bill (because he "got some" and you can't get any). You hate the idea that anyone could live free (so you support the NSA illegal wiretapping).

So who hates around here? It's you f**kwads who are in power. This is on your watch. Period.

    Grow a brain.

  58. Glenn Becker Says:

#52, in re: your "#47 - you obviously had no problem with what Sadam did either. Torture rooms, gassing your own - all par for the course."

Where did you get this stupid, mistaken impression? I abhor both Saddam (the correct English spelling) and Stalin.

    You are wrong again.

Further, your completely inept attempt at derailing the argument is I may say par for the /neo-con course/. Don't tell me, let me guess: you're going to invoke "logic" (with which you have no familiarity) next. Go ahead, sir.

  59. The Witch Says:

#42 - Debbie Stabenow sure used fear on the senate floor last night. The left capitalized on fear with the Dubai deal

I'm sorry, but are you denying that opposition to the ports deal was bipartisan? Were Republicans also capitalizing on fear?

(even though the leading opponents husband and former President was making $$ off of Dubai).

I don't think Senator Clinton was the "leading" opponent, but I digress. I recall hearing that Bob Dole was doing the same and Senator Dole was against the deal... can anyone confirm?

The left’s platform is fear. Fear of your own country, govt and political adversaries.

If we were afraid of our own country, we would stay silent. If we were afraid, we wouldn't dare to try and change it for the better. You're the ones that are afraid.

You have no ideas, just hate and fear.

Oh! That's a good one too. Who do we hate? :)

And yes - how did you guess - Joe Sixpack PERSONALLY PULLED THE FEEDING TUBE OUT. Thank you, Sherlock Jr., for gracing us with your presence.

I will be as crude as I can if it stands a chance of sticking a needle of sense into your own desiccated, melted frontal lobes.

  64. Liberals Heart Stalin Says:

Oh stop it. Don't bitch about oil until you support domestic production (ANWR) and it's awful that your son had to fight in Iraq, but it was his choice to join. AND he is a hero so stop denigrating his service with that oil b.s.

The problem with modern day liberalism is you don't support under any circumstances. That ignores of human nature in the most dangerous way.

  65. Solitaire Says:

IT would seem to me that what killed Terri was some bad medical treatment from a doctor years ago. As a matter of fact, that was established in court and the doc/hospital had to pay big settlement bucks to Terri and her husband. I think that about settles the matter. All else is nothing but poetry.

  66. Craig Says:

Frankly, I’ve been doing a disturbing amount of research on many things relating to what all of you may call simple “politics,” but it’s more than this. The parallels between the history of Nazi Germany and the rise of Hitler’s war machine (which I knew little about only a few weeks ago) and Bush’s “rise to power” in recent years are terrifying, glaring, and more disturbing with each page I read. In fact, the histories are beginning to parallel so closely that I feel as if I can read the history of Germany and understand what’s going to happen here next, as if it’s some sort of crystal ball. That’s how obvious it is…

And if you don’t believe this is happening, folks, or don’t believe that the Bush Administration is posing as right-wing activists to get the support of America’s largest religious group, you really need to read up. I have no patience any longer for anyone that spews rhetoric and Neocon talking points to me with no regard for history and the obvious connections to faschism that I’m seeing here.

There is strong evidence, coupled with irrefutable scientific and forensic proof, that Bush and his cronies not only knew 9/11 was going to happen, but actually orchestrated the whole thing. If you think this is absurd and could never happen (i.e. “why on earth would a government want to murder its own people? Surely no one has ever done such a thing before!”), I implore you to head over to Wikipedia and read about The Reichstag Fire. In short, it’s a heavily documented incident that gave rise to the Nazi war machine as we remember it today. Essentially, the Nazis burned down one of their own government buildings and pinned it on Polish Communists, and used the synthetic attack to justify invading that country.

Within days of the Reichstag Fire, Hitler used his political clout to convince the rather unqualified and reluctant president of Germany to sign the Reichstag Fire Degree, a rather short piece of legislation that essentially destroyed German rights in the name of national security, not to mention provided Hitler with expanded powers to create secret police forces to “capture the Communists” and bring them to justice. Sound familiar? It should. Within days of 9/11, the Bush administration pushed the so-called Patriot Act into the hands of Congress, whose members were paranoid and scared as a result of 9/11. Much like the German equivalent of parliament, they did not hesitate to approve the bill, despite the glaring fact that it contained several portions that conflict with our Constitution, that it redefined “terrorists” to include common criminals (i.e. pot smokers, arsonists, robbers, those who speed on the highway, etc, you get the idea), and that it allowed warrantless surveillance and wiretapping without approval from any overseeing body. So much for checks and balances. It’s important to note that terrorists are considered apart from regular criminals in law (or were, before one was made the other courtesy of the Patriot Act), and that they are subject to different punishments. Terrorists may be stripped of their citizenship, detained without charge for indefinite amounts of time (that means “forever,” folks), and are not subject to a trial by jury, or even allowed to have this. Terrorists, furthermore, can be held incommunicado, meaning they can be forced into isolation with no outside contact - no e-mail, phone calls, or vists - nothing. Hopefully you see the problem with redefining terrorism to include anyone who breaks a U.S. law: it allows the government to completely strip you of your rights and do terrible, unimaginable things to you. Bu$hCo has already done this to people (see Jose Padilla), so really, am I making this shit up?

Anyways, I could go on forever about Bu$hCo’s connections to the Nazis and how much proof I have that they orchestrated September 11th in order to undermine our rights and take over the country, but I will try to be to the point, and mention the most important parts here:

    THE TWIN TOWERS
The official story is that two airplanes, full of passengers and hijackers, crashed into the two World Trade Center towers, and that a combination of the impacts and the heat from the jet fuel caused the buildings’ steel to melt or weaken, leading to their eventual collapse. The story claims that the floors above the areas hit by the planes collapsed onto the floors before, creating a “pancake effect” which leveled the buildings.

This story is horseshit. Common sense, along with the basic physics equations we learned in high school, prove this is so.

#1: Jet fuel doesn’t burn at a high enough temperature to melt steel, and even if the fuel could get up to that temperature, the heat would have been diffused throughout the buildings (steel is an excellent conductor of heat), and the beams could not have sustained the temperatures necessary to cause a collapse.

#2: The Law of Falling Bodies, devloped by Gallileo and accepted universally as fact, states that any two objects dropped from the same height, despite a difference in mass, will reach the ground at the same time, so long as they meet no resistance. Using this equation, we find that a rock (or any other object, for that matter) dropped from the floor of Tower #2 hit by the actual airplane, will reach the ground in 8.4 seconds. This is the same amount of time, give or take 2/10th of a second or so, that it took that point of the building to hit the ground upon its collapse. This may not seem odd at first glance, but when you consider that the “pancake” theory requires that the floors contact one another during their descent to the ground, thus meeting resistance, it ought to. A building collapsing via the pancake method could not possibly fall at the rate this building did. The reason it did? It did not pancake. It fell at free-fall speed because the collapsing floors met no resistance as they descended, meaning the lower floors were blown out before the falling ones could touch them. Only explosives could have done this.

There are a ton of other points to be made, but I will summarize:

The architects of the Twin Towers constructed them with airliner crashes in mind, and are on record saying the buildings could have been hit by 2 or 3 planes and would have remained standing.

The steel used in the construction of the buildings was exposed to temperatures of 2,000 degrees (Farenheit) for extended periods of time prior to being installed, to ensure that it was strong enough to withstand fire.

No high rise steel building has ever collapsed due to fire in history, not even the one in Madrid, Spain that burned for nearly a full day in 2005.

    THE CASE FOR EXPLOSIVES
Explosives were uses to destroy the Twin Towers. There is no doubt about it. Months after the buildings were demolished, molten steel was being found in the basement levels of the remains, an event that could only have been triggered by the heat created through chemical reactions.

Survivors and witnesses, including janitors who worked in the building and the firefighters who went into the buildings, reported multiple explosions, injuries on floors far before where the planes hit (and before the collapse began), and extensive damage to elevator shafts and more.
Photographs and videos of the collapse show horizontal plumes of smoke and debris shooting through exploding windows far below where planes impacted.

The TV Antennae atop one of the towers, which was attached directly to the core columsn of the building, began to fall prior to the rest of the structure, implying that it was a severing of the central steel columns that caused the collapse, not melting beams.

The buildings’ collapses display over ten characteristics of a standard professional demoltion, including 1) shock waves measures by seismographic machines miles away, 2) “demolition rings” around the perimeter of the buildings during the collapse, 3) a “crimp” in the middle of the structures near their roofs, indicative of charges set off in their centers, 4) a total rather than partial collapse, 5) the pulverization of concrete and glass into tiny particles as the result of immense pressure (not possible from the force of gravity alone), 6) the accelerated collapse of the building at nearly free-fall speed, and 7) an implosion-like fall, as opposed to a toppling fall. I could go on…

How could so many bombs be placed in such prominent buildings, you ask? Easy. Several bizarre evacuations and “power downs” were scheduled and called in the weeks prior to 9/11, and on one day, bomb-sniffing dogs and security, usually present 24/7 for 12-hour shifts, were asked to completely clear out. As for the “power downs,” that they occurred has been confirmed by employees who worked in the Twin Towers, and it has been noted that during these rare “down” times, all of the security cameras, door locks, and access-prevention hardware in the buildings were rendered useless. Any room would have been accessible, and nothing could have been caught on surveillance tapes.

More suspicious still is the fact that George W. Bush’s very own, barely-mentioned brother, Marvin Bush, was the president of the Stratesec/Securacom security company that developed and maintained the security systems for all the World Trade Center buildings, as well as for the airline companies whose planes were “flown into the buildings.” Wirt Walker III, one of George W. Bush’s close relatvies, was at that time (and still is) the CEO of that company. Hmmmm…..

    PROFITING FROM THE “ATTACK”
The owner of the World Trade Center buildings made billions of dollars in insurance when the buildings were destroyed, and suspiciously took out his claim on them only shortly before the collapse, insuring them specifically in the event of just such a “terrorist attack.”

The Bush Administration used the orchestrated attack to launch us into a war with Iraq, which continues to this day (but will likely end and be forgotten when the upcoming war with Iran makes the Iraq War look like kindergarten fingerpainting), and has used the resulting war to furnish its favored business partners with powerful cabinet and government positions, lucrative security and construction contracts, and has convinced millions that funneling taxpayer money into mock “defense” is a worthwhile cause.

I could go on, but there are too many examples. Do some Google searches and find out more yourselves. You can’t go three feet without tripping over corruption.

    OTHER BIZARRE SHIT
A plane supposedly struck the Pentagon on 9/11, yet the crater produced by whatever “hit it” looked like that caused by a Tomahawk cruise missile, not an airplane with engines, wings, and stabilizing flaps. No 747 airplane wreckage was produced, and none was found at the site, and none has been recovered since. The official explanation is that the plane, along with its two 6-ton turbines, were “vaporized” by the incredible heat. Also, there are no skid marks from a plane contacting the lawn as it crashed, and several metal and plastic objects close to the perimeter of the Pentagon remained untouched and unsinged despite the proximity of the “plane crash.” No video or images of the event have been released to the public, and witnesses surrounding the Pentagon report that videotapes and digital cameras were confiscated by the FBI in the minutes following the explosion.

A plane was also supposedly brought down in Pennsylvania by “patriotic” passengers that overthrew their hijackers, causing the vehicle to crash far from its “intended target,” supposedly the White House. No bodies were ever recovered from the “crash site,” and even the local coroner, called in to identify, tag, and collect the bodies, is quoted as saying he was a coroner for “about 6 minutes, because there were no bodies there,” and that, he never saw “one drop of blood” the entire time he was there.

More than half of the people listed as the airplane hijackers, thought to have died in the “plane crashes,” have turned up alive and well in other countries, and many are indignant at being labeled as terrorists. One even went as far to say, “I’ve never even heard of Pennsylvania,” and yet the White House tells us he crashed in a field there.

Billions of dollars worth of gold mysteriously disappeared from the basement vaults of the World Trade Center towers, and more was found in what appeared to be unmanned getaway trucks parked behind WTC building #5.

    CLOSING COMMENTS ABOUT 9/11
Our own government orchestrated and pulled off the events of 9/11 with military precision, using a combination of distraction, technology, and information withholding. They did this to create a justification for getting into a war with Iraq, which, despite all the other rumors, I believe is not for oil (not solely for it anyway), not to liberate or save Iraq’s people, not to root out Al Queda or force them to fight us in a country other than our own, and certainly not because Hussein has WOMDs.

As the looming war with Iran approaches, it’s becoming more and more obvious that Iraq is not a folly or a mistake, but that the war was merely meant to set us up with a strategic location from which we could launch all-out nuclear war on their neighboring country. Likewise, it seems that the deal to give control of port operations over to United Arab Emirates-based Dubai Ports was in exchange for access to the UAE’s own ports, offering another strategic location from which we could strike Iran. And the more I look at the data, the more it looks like Israel is in on all this, too. But let me not get ahead of myself.

Now, you may be asking: War with Iran?! But they’re 5x the size of Iraq, have an impressive army that hasn’t been decimated by years of U.N. sanctions and opressive rule, and the country isn’t filled with warring tribal factions.

    Well, I’ll tell you why…

    THE IRAN WAR: END GAME
Iran, on March 20th, 2006, is planning to open a stock exchange, under names variously referred to in English as Iran Petroleum Exchange, International Oil Bourse or Iranian Oil Bourse, for the express purpose of trading oil, petrochemicals and gas with various non-dollar currencies, including euros. If successful, this would establish a euro-based pricing mechanism for oil trading, or “oil marker” as it is called by traders. For the uninformed, this means they will accept only euros (and other foreign currencies other than the dollar) in exchange for their oil supplies. This will destroy the value of the American dollar if it happens. For years, countries that have wanted to purchase oil from Iran have needed to convert their monies into dollars to complete the trade. Now, it appears, we can not cash in on those transactions. Once the Euro becomes supreme over the dollar, attaching itself to the ridiculously huge oil industry, our economy will go down the shitter real quick.

And now, in what I know cannot be a coincedence, the United States Federal Reserve announced relatively recently that, as of March 23, 2006, they will no longer be reporting the M3 money supply data of the U.S. dollar. Since M3 is not exactly a household term, let me explain the significance of this:

M3 is another way of describing “money supply” - the quantity of money available within a given economy (ours, specifically) to purchase goods, services, and securities. The reluctance of our government to release the information regarding M3 and our money supply has piqued the interest of many in the investment and banking communities, who foresee this decision as an indication of impending financial / economical instability. Whatever this instability is going to be caused by, it’s obvious to many that the Feds don’t want news of it to get out.

As Robert McHugh, Ph.D. (President and CEO of Main Line Investors, Inc.) has said, “We have continuously demonstrated the high correlation between growth in M-3 and a rising stock market. We have also demonstrated that when M-3 either declines or stays the same, the stock market is prone to decline.” Stock market decline, you say? Hmm….

McHugh, in fact, sees a big connection here between out economy and an impending faschist takeover:

“We aren’t privy to the reasons [for why M3 will no longer be reported] because the Master Planners do not believe in the forthright flow of information. They believe that bad news cannot be handled by the flock, and that confidence must be boosted at all costs, even if it entails manipulating the markets. Don’t let the dead be honored, instead sneaking them into Dover at night. Don’t let the real jobless figures be released, goose [the people] with a phony birth/death adjustment, and so on. Now we can kiss the most important Fed statistic computed goodbye. Do you see what is happening folks? The Unpatriotic Act steals your civil liberties. Three young girls from Kansas cannot board an Amtrak train to New York unless they have a government issued photo ID. This is not some futuristic sci-fi plot. It’s now. It is called Corporatist Fascism. Next could be freedom of speech. Then martial law. A computer chip under your skin. Eventually, your right to vote. Then it is all over, game set and match.”

According to Dr. McHugh, the M3 figure will still be calcuated - we just won’t be allowed to know what it is, and why? McHugh suggests it is because the Feds expect to have to increase the money supply very rapidly, to extraordinary levels this year, and theorizes that they may “see a catastrophe coming that will require hyperinflation to bail the U.S. out.” Iran opening up a euro-based oil market definitely qualifies as a catastrophe in terms of the dollar and its value, but not when one considers the type of events that have caused M3 fluctuations in the past: the London bombing, hurricanes Katrina and Rita, indictments of top Administration officials, 9/11, etc.

Given the history of the rise and fall of the money supply, I would argue that this veil of secrecy, in fact, is an indication of the impending armageddon, if you will. The Neocons have grown more and more comfortable ridiculing and threatening Iran in recent weeks, and it definitely appears as if they are setting us up to go into an all-out war with them, public support or no public support.

So, I will reiterate once more. The Bush family crime sydicate orchestrated and pulled off 9/11 with military precision, and immediately used the event to lead us into an unjustified and foolhardy war with Iraq, which is now *conveniently* heading toward “civil war” just as the Bush Admin’s threats to Iran become more public. When you factor in the fact that, if Iran is allowed to go ahead with their euro-based oil market, they will decimate the American dollar, there is quote a motive to go to war, albeit for reasons rooted in greed, not peace or liberation.

Bush knows a war with Iran won’t fly based on economic reasons, so he’s going to create a “good” reason to go to war with them: he’s going to make it look like they attacked us first. To do this, another 9/11-type event is going to occur, this time pinned on the Iranians, and it will likely take the form of a large-scaled, state and government-funded nuclear or biological attack, probably at one of our ports. And this time, the body count will be much, much higher, probably in the 500,000 to one million marker. And just in case you don’t believe there has been any lead up to this event, or that this is all conspiracy theory bullshit, check this out:

THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION & WORLD DOMINATION
In case you’re unaware, there is a Washington, D.C. based think tank out there called the Project for the New American Century, or the PNAC. Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld founded this organization in 1997, just prior to Bush’s 2000 “victory,” and were promptly awarded high-level positions in the new government when it formed. Other prominent members of the PNAC include George W. Bush’s brother (and Florida Senator) Jeb Bush, the U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton (appointed by Bush himself), U.S. Ambassador to Iraq (and former ambassador to Afghanistan) Zalmay Khalilzad, Lewis “Scooter” Libby (Cheney’s senior aide, now indicted for high crimes), former Vice President Dan Quayle, and Paul Wolfowitz, the current President of the World Bank, among others.

The PNAC’s purpose is to promote American “global leadership,” and the following:

    * A significant increase of U.S. defense spending.
    * Strengthening ties with the U.S.’s allies and to challenge regimes hostile to U.S. interests and values.
    * Promoting the cause of political and economic freedom outside the U.S.
    * Preserving and extending an international order friendly to U.S. security, prosperity, and principles.

If this doesn’t sound like they want to take over the fucking planet, I don’t know what does. The PNAC believes our military ought to act as a global police force, and that it should be used to “keep law and order around the world in accordance with United States interests.” The PNAC also advocates that the United States government should capitalize on its military and economic superiority to gain unchallengeable superiority through all means necessary, including military force. Scary stuff…

So, the Administration is chock full of assholes who think we ought to rule the world, and the 9/11 documentaries that abound prove that they are willing to kill their own citizens to rally us behind wars that they need to further their plans. But how do we know that a nuclear attack on American soil is in the plans? Well, I’ll show you…

TERROR DRILLS HELD THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY
Since, 9/11, hundreds of “terror drills” have been held around the country, with a purpose (supposedly) of helping prepare us for another attack on our soil. Considering the Bush Administration and the Nazis in the PNAC are the only ones to have ever really attacked us, however, I’d say these drills are actually intended either to brainwash and terrify the American populace, or are meant literally to train local and military forces how to clean up the mess resulting from these inside jobs.

Scarier still, some of these “drills” have turned out to be convenient decoys or cover-ups, intended to cause confusion or distraction in the face of the inside jobs. For example, a drill was held on 9/11 itself where NORAD forces were being trained how to handle the hijacking of airliners being used to crash into the Twin Towers. Because of the nature of the drill, everyone thought the real “terrorist attacks” were a ruse, and so the soldiers thought nothing of it when they were told to “stand down” rather than react. And so, 9/11 happened, and the soldiers came off looking innocent when, in fact, they were all guilty of allowing thousands to die. Several of these drills, simulating airplaning crashing into high-rise buildins, were held around the country in the months surrounding 9/11, and though Donald Rumsfeld, a very close associate of George W. Bush, was privy to all the information and planning surrounding them, came out repeatedly saying that no one had any idea this sort of attack could happen. In actuality, the government knew the whole time, because they were planning it, and they were covering their ass long in advance.

The pont I’m getting at is, very creepy “drills” have been organized around the country within the past year, positing the same type of state-funded attack that seems imminent. As the story goes, a ship carrying a huge nuclear or biological weapon gets into our ports and is detonated, murdering tens of thousands of people in broad daylight. And drills such as these have been held in several cities already, including Charleston, South Carolina (more here) and Houston, Texas.

These “tragic events,” orchestrated by a country’s own government, are referred to as false-flag operations, specifically because they stir patriotic fervor by means of a synthetic attack (see 9/11, Germany’s Reichstag Fire, etc.), and rally the citizens of a nation to support a war, all while placing the blame squarely on an “enemy” of the state’s choice. The result is that you appear to be highly justified when you in turn attack your enemy. An example of this is Operation Cyanide, an operation that was devised because of the U.S. desire to become involved in Israel’s battle against Egypt in 1967. The U.S. sacrificed a Navy vessel that ostensibly was attacked by Egypt. In reality the ship was deliberately attacked by unmarked Israeli fighters, torpedoed by Israeli ships and shelled with napalm. Contrary to all expectations, a portion of the crew survived the attack, and the American airplane that was already on its way to Egypt to avenge the attack with a nuclear bomb was called back. Given the many common interests of the U.S. and Israel it is not unlikely that the blueprint for this operation will be pulled off the shelf to organize a warwith Iran.

In fact, a compelling argument to support the premise that a U.S. attack on Iran is not far off can be found in an excerpt from a column entitled Deep Background by Philip Giraldi. Giraldi is an ex-CIA agent and employee of Cannistraro Associates, a company run by Vince Cannistraro, a one-time counter-terrorism chief for the CIA who in his work as a consultant for ABC News reported on the Bush Administration’s pattern of deception during the lead-up to the Iraq war. Giraldi wrote his column for The American Conservative, a publication by conservatives who disagree with the neoconservative course of the Bush Administration. He describes how the military planners of USSTRATCOM, at the direction of the administration, are preparing a conventional and/or nuclear response (i.e., an attack on Iran) to an anticipated hostile act by Iran: ‘In Washington it is hardly a secret that the same people in and around the administration who brought you Iraq are preparing to do the same for Iran. The Pentagon, acting under instructions from Vice President Dick Cheney’s office, has tasked the United States Strategic Command (STRATCOM) with drawing up a contingency plan to be employed in response to another 9/11-type terrorist attack on the United States. The plan includes a large-scale air assault on Iran employing both conventional and tactical nuclear weapons. As in the case of Iraq, the response is not conditional on Iran actually being involved in the act of terrorism directed against the United States.

So there you have it. Our government is run by faschists who want to dominate the entire planet, they’re willing to (and already have) kill thousands to get their way, and are now showing poorly in the polls, with elections coming up in November that could lead to impeachments and indictments for 90 percent of the Neocons in office.

If you want my straight prediction, here it is:

Shortly after Iran switches to a euro-based oil system, essentially fucking us, the Neocons will carry out a large-scale nuclear attack on their own people, in a major U.S. city - an attack that will kills 30,000 to half a million people in just a few minutes, not to mention wounding hundreds of thousands of others. This attack will be blamed on Iran, and the Bush Administration, taking advantage of the situation (and bracing for the inevitable backlash and public outrage) will call martial law, effectively putting themselves in complete control of the country. The Constitution and all elections will be suspended, the military will patrol the streets in violation of law, and anyone opposing Bush and the Neocons will be considered a terrorist (or at least to be giving them aid), and anyone who supports this make-believe enemy will be shipped off, without charges or a trial, to American concentration camps, which I have already posted about earlier, several of which are being built by Halliburton themselves.

American citizens will die in these gulag prisons, and we will be forced to endure Nazi America until the rest of the world takes it upon itself to invade us, destroy our military, and hang all of the criminals in our midst. This could take years.

Indications show that this “Iran attack” will occur either on March 23, the day the Federal Reserve ceases to report the M3 money supply numbers, or on March 28, a date being kicked around in the political underground for whatever reasons. In any event, this is going to happen soon, and everyone ought to be prepared.

In the event that Bush calls martial law, there will be no Congress or legislature to speak of, no courts, and no justice system whatsoever. All local police will be under the influence of the military, and traitors will be killed on the spot or hauled off to camps.

There will be no elections, and Bush will remain in power as long as he wishes to. Whatever he says is the law will be so, and that is a terrifying thought.

If you think this cannot happen, I urge you to 1) do some Google searches, 2) read up on Nazi Germany, 3) read the Patriot Act over thoroughly, 4) watch some 9/11 conspiracy documentaries on Google Video (or buy them if you can), and 5) open your eyes, do a little research.

Also, stock up on non-perishable food and water, because people will go batshit crazy when the Neocons take over and soldiers line the streets.

What you find will scare the hell out of you, but educating yourself and others is our only hope of stopping this before it goes down. We don’t have much time…

Please parse these semi-literate sentences. I can form no clue of what it is you are trying to say with either.

Typical neo-con: can neither think nor create simple declarative sentences that effectively convey its little thoughts.

  68. Will Morrison Says:

Why is it that so many in the right are so blustery and full of themselves? This nonsense about "The right is ready to hit back and we will be hitting hard against those who side with America’s enemies fro political gain" is just that... blustery nonsense. What, pray tell, are you going to be hitting back against? YOU ARE THE ONES IN CHARGE, YOU FOOL!

Why do you feel it so necessary to threaten people with things that you can't guarantee? Especially when what it comes down to is that YOUR "SIDE" is the ones who have put us into the situations where we are now, and yet you will not accept responsibility for that. WHERE is your demand for personal responsibility now?

You're going to hit back... how pathetic. You KNOW you have NO basis for your support for a fool in the white house, and so you have to strike out at those who were right in the first place. You just can't stand to be WRONG, can you? You would rather pick fights on stupid, distracting arguments than to actually discuss things like a thoughtful adult. How TRULY pathetic.

I usually won't have a battle of wits with an aunarmed individual, but really, your silliness is really showing.

Oh, and on the Dean scream thing, if you hear the actual tape from the floor, EVERYONE was screaming. Fox and others got the tape fo the multitrack from the board, and highlighted JUST Dean's voice. I doubt that anyone in the same situation would have sounded much different. And to use THAT as a determining factor as to whether someone is qualified to be president is absolutely CHILDISH! You have a habitual LIAR in the head office of the country, and THAT is what you think is actually important?

The only person who is more braindead than you morons is ME for even thinking that you can be talked to and dealt with as an intelligent individual.

A significant number of them believe that Jesus will teach them everything they know when they attend christian madrassas. In truth, all they turn out are illiterate hate mongers. In vast numbers too. :-(

  78. DoubleSpeak with Matthew and Peter Slutsky » Feingold Not Alone Says:

[...] Think Progress has the news today that two senators have praised the resolution, with Sen. Lincoln Chaffee (R-RI) the first to cross the aisle saying, “the resolution would be ‘positive’ if it fueled debate over the legality of some policies in the war on terrorism.” And despite Dana Milbank’s wishful headline in the Washington Post, Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA), has said he will vote for the measure. “The president broke the law and he needs to be held accountable,” [Harkin] said. “Talk about high crimes and misdemeanors!” Harkin said he’ll vote for the Feingold resolution — if it comes up. 79. Jesus Christ God of WAR Says:

ReichWingNuts will have difficulty defending this. If it weren't so serious, I'd be laughing my head off at those Republican fools.

Nearly three years ago the United States of America took the unprecedented step of invading a country that posed no immediate threat to our security, launching a war based on fabricated intelligence, false assumptions and outright lies.

Today, as that country plunges headlong into civil war, our leaders continue to fabricate claims of improvements, make false promises of progress and lie outright about our prospects. Their missteps have cost thousands of American lives along with the lives of tens of thousands of innocent civilians.

Because of the Iraq war, America is less safe than before September 11, 2001, more reviled throughout the world as an arrogant bully that ignores its own self-professed concern for human rights or integrity, and that has become a laughing stock among the intelligence agencies of other nations.

While the Bush administration claims progress, insurgent attacks are on the rise and Iraqis, in general, are worse off then they were before the U.S. invaded three years ago.

The Brookings Institution, which tracks progress (or the lack of it) in Iraq, reports power outages plague the country and fewer Iraqis have electricity now than before the war. Fewer have access to clean water or a sanitary sewer system...

  82. Anjha Says:

I have been calling for a massive viral marketing campaign. It is very simple.

We need as many people as possible to post this campaign on the blogs that they frequent.

The goal is to send Senator Feingold hand written "Thank You Cards" to his Wisconsin offices. Petitions and emails and calls are great, but they will not make the impact that hand written thank you notes will. We cannot send them to DC because there is a two month wait on the screening. Also, I think the WI offices being flooded will make a bigger impact.

In addition, if people can include $5 or $10 dollars with the thank you cards towards his 2008 Presidential campaign, this increases the impact.

Why thank you cards? Why the goal of 10,000?

We want to show the media and the other Democrats how much that we support Feingold's courage. We also want to show that we support Feingold's Resolution.

I picked the Green Bay office, address at bottom of page: http://feingold.senate.gov/contact.html

Here is more information on Senator Feingold and who else would like to see him as our next President:
    http://russforpresident.com/

You can find out more about Senator Feingold here:
    http://www.russfeingold.org/

The more that I read about Senator Feingold, the more I like. He has fought for our civil liberties, our jobs, our security, our environment, our rights. He is a true progressive.

If 10,000 thank you cards flood the Green Bay office in the next couple of days, this will indeed make a media impact and an impact on the other Democrats.

Senator Feingold had the courage and has the conviction to do what we have all been screaming for.

Please pass this on to as many people as possible and please post the Thank You Card Campaign on as many blogs as possible. I announced it on Thom Hartmann's show yesterday. Let's get the cards in the mail immediately.

    Thanks for your help.

Well, aphrodite? Liberals Heart Stalin? Care to step up here and answer?

    No?

Well, I guess it is up to me to answer then.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Glenn, but while us neocons are total idiots; have a narrow fanatical view of the world; hateful of homosexuals, fornicators, drunks, nonchristians, and have a special hatred for all unwed mothers as well as those who chose to abort, we are NOT "inevitably illiterate." Except about the government. We are very misrusting of the government----unless they are the patriotic ones in the White House.

    Comment by mighty aphrodite

I'm such a dipstick, aphrodite! What can I say?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but did I ever tell you my real name?

    It's really Howard Dean. YAAAAAAAAGGGHHHHH!

Seriously, if I can be for a minute. Every time I hear that scream, I used to cringe. But now I snicker when I hear it. I was listening to a sportscaster last week playing it ib the radio, alternating it with a scream of a cartoon show of a pterodactylus (flying reptile). He said, "we could have had a pterodactylus in the White House." Now I laugh when I hear it. And I like old Howard more for it.

Now if Dean had any sense of humor, he could use that scream against his critics, get a few laughs, and end up as the only pterodactylus ever to become president. He would sure be a refreshing change from that rubber-necked jerk in office now, huh?

  106. mighty aphrodite Says:

Dear Green917 - Loved your letter to Senate Dems!!! The substance was GREAT - it was however, a little (!) longwinded. Believe me, those staffers have enough to do besides slogging through your tome. Cut to the Chase!!! You should be able to say in ONE paragraph why you support Russ Feingold's censure measure. (They already know they are the minority...) I did think the reference to Eldridge Cleaver was a little much...If Dems don't respond positively to your constructive criticism, you may want to check out these more sympathetic parties:

  120. Glenn Becker Says:

#119, in re: your "Is the pew research center good enough for you?"

I don't know what the Pew Research Center is (did you note that I am unafraid to admit ignorance?). Off the top of my head I'd say constructing a picture from one source is pushing it -- is that what you have done here?

Again ... if true I would be tempted to throw the "liberal elite" thing back in y'all's face (with the help of Thomas Frank) and posit that the elite we all need to be concerned about is the moneyed, amoral (but churchgoing!), Wall-Street-centered one.

That said I am no doubt far more educated than /you/.

  121. Glenn Becker Says:

#120, in re: my "moneyed, amoral (but churchgoing!), Wall-Street-centered"

  123. squegeeboo Says:

    #120-121:

The other sources are there, thats why I suggested googling. Posting too many links seems to be a no-no on this site.

Google Pew then, they're a rather large research group. Instead of admiting your ignorace, you should try learning so your not ignorant, it's a much better alternative.

And I'm still missing the liberal elite point, All I can think your going for is that the elite isn't really liberal and its a made up conservative term. But if that were the case, you can't explain away the Soro's Kennedy's Kerry's etc that are out there.

  124. Michdem Says:

I applaud this resolution , even though it is mostly symbolic you have to wonder if there is anything else that can happen to make Bush look worse in history . You would'nt think but he hasn't let us down yet .

  125. Glenn Becker Says:

#123, in re: your "Instead of admiting your ignorace, you should try learning so your not ignorant, it’s a much better alternative."

Actually I see admission of ignorance as a point of honor. You don't? That's too bad.

And oh, Sir, I /do/ try learning ... I /have/ tried learning. So much more so than /you/, since you cannot seem to construct a correct sentence to save your life

And when I /do/ check the URL you so graciously provided, and many more besides, I am sure I /will/ come to some conclusion or other. But the fact of the matter is that it will likely take me more than the 10 minutes or so it apparently took you to both read and jump to a conclusion.

My "liberal elite" point is that the "elite" you cretins say is so liberal is actually FAR AND AWAY MORE REPUBLICAN THAN LIBERAL. If you would like to critique that point, I welcome it. But you will need to provide more than three examples.

The member of the "liberal elite" who is writing you now often contemplates the meaning of the term "elite" when he is pouring the milk over dinner at night in his crappy apartment. Elite, indeed.

  127. squegeeboo Says:

Admitting your ignorance is an option more honorable then lying to cover it up, but why admit, when you can learn instead. By learning on the subject, your no longer ignorant, and now have nothing to admit.
I would think the elite would tend to be from the post-gradutate level and up. From my previous link, and google, you will see that post-grads tend towards the liberal side. Giving you a liberal-biased elite.
Also, conservatives, when talking about the "liberal elite" are also talking about a mind set, not just an economic level of well being.

True. Left Wing academics don't make jack but consider themselves elites. By the same token Hollywood fucktards make tons of money but have no brains and consider themselves elites. But the real elites are the liberal trust fund babies like Kennedy and Kerry along with the business tycoons like Soros. My guess is that over 80% of the men and women that sit on the boards of Fortune 100 companies are liberals. Those are the true movers and shakers and you can bet your bottom they consider themselves elites.

He said he had the "highest regard" for Senator Finegold and specifically referred to his censure motion.

Censure is just a first step for a President that has committed war crimes. He must be impeached. If it takes voting the Republicans out of control of the House and Senate, that is an attainable goal. In the meantime progressives need to pass grass roots resolutions demanding impeachment. Got yours?

The timid Democrats, who cannot even take advantage of Bush's popularity in the cellar, are afraid to take too strong a stand with Feingold.
They will soon be hearing from all Democrats around the nation, commanding them to stand with Feingold and stand for something.
What's the old adage -- if you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.
The Democrats will find that they are losing their consituents, and more importantly, their money if they don't represent us as we want to be represented.

Repubs who come to this site can't own up to any of George's screw-ups. They're like ostriches with their heads in the sand. When George lost the majority in the 2000 election and was swept in by the Conservative Supreme Court justices, they said "get over it!" And yet, all they have is living in the past. Dean's scream, etc. Notice how they never mention Richard Nixon's resignation. Today is today and George is the president. He's failed in every way possible. The Iraq war, social security, Dubai ports deal, prescription drugs, Katrina, his friend the shoplifter. The list goes on and on. The very latest Pew Research poll shows George at 33% approval. Previous polls showed the most used word for him was "honest", now it's "incompetant." Poor, poor, Repubs, the chickens are coming home to roost. It's all slipping away.........

*****I don't believe God says a nation should not defend itself - therefore, Israel having "nukes" is not an affront to God's wishes. Do I believe God would be delighted if everyone everywhere commenced to group hug, burst into a chorus of Kumbaya and respect others - you bet. But unfortunately, "good' exists along with "evil" and such a utopia will never exist here.

Let's consider several US actions often touted by the "blame capitalist/America" crowd:
a.) purchasing Middle East oil - it would be better to run our nation's transportation systems, industries etc. on ethabol or hydrogen - I think the Arabs were far less treacherous when they were riding camels and sleeping in bedouin tents.
b.) the rise of Hamas can be directly linked to the looting of billions ($$) by that thief Arafat, his wife and the rest of Fatah. Maybe the money was a BAD idea.
c.) radical Irani leaders have been the story since 1979. The backing of a US friendly Shah was the lesser of two evils AT THE TIME. Radical islamists could not stand anything Western then or NOW. (Similarly, the "backing" of Iraq over Iran during the early '80's was the LESSER OF TWO EVILS. Keeping those a$$h*le$ busy with each other left them little time to cause problems elsewhere. Foreign terrorists infiltrating Iran is not new - they were called mujahadeen during the war in Afghanistan and were fighting the Soviets.
d.) your final question about "really protecting Israel?" If the US were to withdraw ALL interests in the region - a region that has a commodity we need to purchase for the time being - Israel would have several bullies to face in the neighbourhood. My mother said it so well, "As American Irish Catholics often feel a pull to the old "sod", Jews the world over, forever wandering, feel a heartstring for Israel." Quite a lady.

Why do you think one of the most consistently Dem constituencies, American Jews, have been steadily leaving the Dem Party??

  162. Progressaurus Rex Says:

    ma:
i'll address your last point first (American Jews have been steadily leaving the Dem Party)- do you have recent evidence to back that up? and no, i'm not talking about a 6 point jump in bush's numbers from 200 to 2004. the reason i'm dubious is because i recently read an article that appeared to refute this notion entirely (unfortunately i read a lot of articles and i don't catalogue them all for later reference, so i don't have a link). it specifically referred to rove's frustration with having seen jewish support peak around 25%, and then fall back to around 20% in recent polls. it also mentioned that their goal was 30%, but they'd pretty much given up on achieving that any time soon.

    a) well the administration speaks out of both sides of its mouth on this topic. in the state of the union bush says 'we need to end our addiction to foreign oil' and the within days after, top administration officials are saying 'well he didn't really mean that, exactly'. i don't believe for a second that the texas oil man and business failure bush has any intention whatsoever to lessen our dependence on oil.

    b) the administration clearly underestimated hamas' chances in the palestinian election, didn't make efforts to support fatah, and were certainly unprepared for the hamas victory. this is common knowledge. again, why do you think there was increased support for a terrorist-backed, fundamentalist party? are you seriously going to deny that the current foreign policy with regards to the middle east had something to do with that?

    c) khatami, the most recent irani president before the current one was considered a reformer and a moderate. it was widely reported that several foreign policies, incl the fact that iran is now bordered on both sides by u.s.-occupied countries, and certainly notwithstanding bush's terminology "axis of evil", influenced the results of the last iranian election, creating the opportunity for a hardliner to again become president of iran.

    d) you miss the point entirely. i'm not suggesting pulling all resources in the area, leaving israel to fend for itself. all i'm suggesting is that our recent actions have been akin to stirring up a hornets' nest of islamic fundamentalism and essentially making the problem worse, further endangering israel. as i said, i know the intent (one of them, anyway) was to protect israel, but clearly israel is more endangered now than it was before we invaded iraq. you can defend the policies all you want, but you're in a group that is growing smaller by the day.

I'm glad you still acknowledge "we have freedom of speech" in the USA. But there is nothing I have seen in any of your other usually illiterate postings that you believe that.
Since you guys (including Hypocrite, who is most likely not a woman) can only think in terms of black and white, let me remind you that people who are not Busheviks are not necessarily Bolsheviks, either--not to mention, sympathizers for jihadists. Your point a.) is your opinion - period.

"why do you think there was increased support for a terrorist-backed, fundamentalist party?" - Prog Rex

*****And you believe this is a position that has changed??? Much of the Arab world and the erstwhile Palestinians have an official "wipe Israel off the face of the earth" policy. I believe radical Muslims have been allowed to exploit the Islamic religion by factions who do not wish to give up power - a regular Catch-22. But your recent recounting of history does not mention or appear to take into account the history of terrorism in the Middle East, which is truly a cultural clash that cannot be placated or petted.

"and certainly notwithstanding bush’s terminology “axis of evil”, influenced the results of the last iranian election..." - ProgRex
*****That damn George Bush - how dare he call a spade a spade!! Personally, I found the term "axis of evil" much to quaint and diplomatic. (Good thing I'm not in charge!!) But I guess the radical mullahs had little to do with the recent elections in Iran. Did you oppose strikes against the Taliban in Afghanistan??

"you miss the point entirely. i’m not suggesting pulling all resources in the area, leaving israel to fend for itself..." - ProgRex

*****Congratulations - you're one of the few progs saying such a thing out in the open. But then you back peddle - "our recent actions" - but you forget the "cease-fire" Saddam violated. Many progs are very anti-Israel, why I don't know. But we will have to agree to disagree - the protection of Israel, the defeat of foreign fighters and the break down of the insurgency will afford more protection to Israel as well as average Iraqis. Sunnis will not support a civil war as their numbers will be decimated. And many radical Muslims, who respects strength and rebuke weakness, understand that should harm come to Israel they will pay in awful and terrible ways. But I have a great faith in the majority of Iraqis - they were a educated and hard working population and I believe that they can achieve a modicum of stability. Hopefully, my faith in good people is not misplaced.

Senator Feingold is right you know, the President did 'plainly break the law' when he approved surveillance without warrants.
I don't want to get too into politics on this blog because, frankly, I don't have the stones for it right now, but I will say this:

The reason that the overwhelming American populace is so willing to allow our civil liberties to be the 'baby in the bath water', is because this administration has so easily replaced logic with fear - a fear that, again, for the vast majority (sadly), was already well established in the zealousy of a 'good vs. evil' mentality. Thanks religion!

As a social outcast, a title I accept with great pride mind you, I happen to enjoy learning about how this kooky human brain of ours works. The part of our brains that ignites fear, doesn't even bother with connecting to any thought process - the brain sort of figures if you are afraid, you don't have time to actually 'think', so you just...react. It's one of, it not the oldest parts of brain evolution and every animal on our spinning marble has one.
So, for me anyway, it stands to reason that the ease with which our once amazing nation is shitting themselves 24/7, is that we are all together a herd of zebra panicking because the big dumb head zebra snorted.

Okay wait...I just got lost in my own imagery here.
My point is, a good many Americans are NOT playing into this cave-man reactionary prompt and are actually THINKING. Mr. Feingold just had the courage to call it. And now all of his colleagues are getting antsy and cowering. Shameful.

First thank you for your civility and I do understand where your reasoning comes from.

I live in a town of less than 3000 people. Most "Red States" are a majority rural (Generalized I know). Do I think a terrorist attack will happen where I live or around me? No, it would severly lack the "Dramatic" effect needed. The "Hot Spots" are typically Democratic (Generalized again). I myself am very patriotic and couldn't sleep during 2000 when we didn't have a president elect, during 9-11, the mine tragedy etc. I don't fear for myself as much as for us as a country. I don;t ever want to see 3000 American Civilians dead again (I in NO way mean to imply you or anyone on these boards do). Without the Ben franklin quotes, to protect us as a nation Secure it (My opinion).

And now all of his colleagues are getting antsy and cowering. Shameful.

This happens on both sides and kills me. The all Republicans/all Democrats voted this way to get the campagn funds is utter B.S. (Perhaps we all need to find a third party for the people that is represented)

Maybe a series of stories about just who the other parties are would be a help too. You know, what they stand for, who they have in the running, that sort of thing. This next series of elections could well be the ones where the independents and smaller parties shine.

  179. RAL Says:

TESTIMONY BY DR. DEBRA H. FREEMAN IN OPPOSITION TO THE NOMINATION OF JOHN ASHCROFT TO THE POST OF ATTORNEY GENERAL, AS DELIVERED TO THE SENATE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE, JANUARY 16, 2001

My name is Dr. Debra H. Freeman. I appear before the Committee as the national spokesperson for Lyndon H. LaRouche Jr., to voice the strongest possible opposition to the nomination of John Ashcroft as the next Attorney General of the United States. My opposition to Mr. Ashcroft's confirmation is shaped by two considerations that go beyond the normal factors that one would weigh, in considering a candidate for the top law enforcement post in the U.S. Federal Executive Branch.

The first of those factors is the extraordinary global financial and monetary crisis that will be the first and overriding order of business confronting the incoming Bush Administration, as even President-elect Bush and Vice President-elect Richard Cheney have limitedly acknowledged in public statements. The scope of the onrushing world financial and economic crisis, however, goes far beyond anything that anyone in the incoming Administration now anticipates, and it will require a dramatic reversal of most of the policy axioms that have governed U.S. official policy over the past 35 years, if the United States is to survive in its present, albeit weakened Constitutional form. Unlike the so-called "Asia Crisis'' of 1997-98 and the so-called "Russia'' and "Brazil'' crises of 1998-99, the epicenter of the current phase of global monetary and physical economic disintegration is the advanced sector, specifically the United States, with our skyrocketing balance of trade deficit, negative household savings, and collapsing real industrial output. Thus, the crisis phase that we have now entered has the most profound implications for the well-being of the American population and goes to the heart of our domestic tranquility and the common good.

The second factor, in this context, is the role that the next Attorney General will play, as a leading member of the Executive Branch crisis team, dealing with the global financial and monetary crisis, and the other consequent regional and domestic crises, that will arise from these extraordinary circumstances. As the chief law enforcement official of the Federal Executive Branch, the next Attorney General will have responsibilities in this broader crisis-management team setting, that will often supercede his more immediate role within the Justice Department and subsumed federal law enforcement agencies, proper. Thus, no assessment of Mr. Ashcroft's qualifications can be competently made, without first considering his role within a Presidential team, focused on dealing with this now unavoidable series of crises.

The incoming Administration will be faced, immediately, with the choice between: (1) abandoning the current economic and monetary policy axioms and returning to policies that, in the past, have led the United States and the world out of the path of disaster, as during the Presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt; or, (2) under the guise of "crisis management,'' imposing a form of brutal bureaucratic fascism on the United States, that bears striking similarities to the conditions under which Adolph Hitler seized power in Germany in 1933. It was Hitler's "crisis management'' of the Reichstag fire and other events, real and manufactured, that established the dictatorship that no one in Germany had anticipated, even weeks before the coup was carried out. Unlike "normal times,'' the realities of the present crisis period mean that there is no middle ground between these two polar extremes. The luxury of "muddling through'' for the next four years is no longer on the table.

These rather blunt words are necessary at this time. They underscore the danger represented by the confirmation of John Ashcroft, under circumstances compounded greatly by the Scalia-Rehnquist majority on the current U.S. Supreme Court, which further increases the danger of a Hitler-style crisis management dictatorship. Lyndon LaRouche discussed this specific danger, during a Jan. 3, 2001 public symposium in Washington, D.C., in response to a question from members of the U.S. Congress. I quote from Mr. LaRouche's response to the question about the Ashcroft nomination:

"First of all, when Bush put Ashcroft in, as a nomination for the Justice Department, he made it clear, the Ku Klux Klan was riding again. That's clear. Now, maybe Bush didn't know what he was doing. But somebody in the Bush team did. And a lot of them had the voice to say something about it. Ashcroft was an insult to the Congress. If the Democrats in the Congress, capitulate to the Ashcroft nomination, the Congress is finished.

"This is pretty much like the same thing that Germany did, in February 28, 1933, when the famous Notverordnung (emergency decree) was established. Just remember after the Reichstag burning, the Reichstag fire, that Goering, who commanded at that time, Prussia -- he was the Minister-President of Prussia at the time -- set into motion an operation. As part of this, operating under rules of Carl Schmitt, a famous pro-Nazi jurist of Germany, they passed this act called the Notverordnung, the emergency act, which gave the state the power, according to Schmitt's doctrine, to designate which part of his own population were enemies, and to imprison them, freely. And to eliminate them. This was the dictatorship.

"Now, remember, that Hitler had come into power on January 30 of that same year. Less than two months earlier. He'd come in as a minority party, which had been discredited in the previous election. He was put in by bankers, including the father of President George Bush (the former President), Prescott Bush. Prescott Bush as agent for Harriman of New York, worked with the British banks, to put Adolf Hitler into power in January of 1933. At that time Hitler was discredited, and about to be bombed out. He was stuck into power because that was the last chance to get him in power.

"Everyone said, no, Hitler's not going to make it, because the majority of the population is against him. Then, on February 28, 1933, the Notverordnung act was passed, on the pretext of the Reichstags fire. And this established a dictatorship, which Germany did not get rid of until 1945.

"Now, I'm not suggesting that the case of Ashcroft is comparable to the Reichstags fire. But it's a provocation, a deliberate provocation. And if the Democratic Party and decent Republicans do not combine to throw that nomination back in the face of the nominator, this Congress isn't worth anything. That is, because it will have surrendered its dignity.

"If you give those kinds of powers, of a Justice Department, to that Ashcroft, and what he represents, under that flag, you don't have any justice left in the United States....

"We're going into a period in which either we do the kinds of things I indicated in summary to you today, or else, what you're going to have, is not a government. You're going to have something like a Nazi regime. Maybe not initially at the surface. What you're going to have is a government which cannot pass legislation, meaningful legislation. How does a government which cannot pass meaningful legislation, under conditions of crisis, govern? They govern in every case in known history, by what's known as crisis-management. In other words, just like the Reichstags fire in Germany.

"What you're going to get with a frustrated Bush Administration, if it's determined to prevent itself from being opposed, you're going to get crisis management. Where members of the special warfare types, of the secret government, the secret police teams, will set off provocations, which will be used to bring about dictatorial powers and emotion, in the name of crisis management.

"You will have small wars set off in various parts of the world, which the Bush Administration will respond to, with crisis management methods of provocation. That's what you'll get. And that's the problem. And you have to face that. You've got to control this process now, while you still have the power to do so. Don't be like the dumb Germans, who, after Hitler was appointed to the Chancellorship, in January 1933, sat back and said, 'No, we're going to defeat him at the next election.' There was never a next election -- there was just this 'Ja Wohl,' for Hitler as dictator. Because the Notverordnung of February 1933, eliminated the political factor.

"And that's the danger you'll get here. If the Bush Administration is determined to hammer its way through on this thing, it's not resisted, and you allow it to do so, you will find that it is strongly tempted. And you look at, remember what former President George Bush's specialty was, as I remember very well. Remember Iran-Contra, one of the biggest mass-murder swindles in the modern history, run by Vice-President Bush, under special powers, given to him under special orders, with the Executive Branch. He ran Iran-Contra, the biggest drug-running game in the world. And behind Bush -- and I know these guys very well, because I've been up against them; most of my problems came from these characters -- these guys, pushed to the wall, will come out with knives in the dark. They will not fight you politically; they will get you in the back. They will use their thugs to get you. That's their method -- know it.

"So, don't sit back and be nice guys. When Bush makes some proposal, which is sensible, it should be treated as a sensible proposal. But when he tries to shove a provocation down your throat, like Ashcroft, no. No way, buddy, No way.''

Lyndon LaRouche, in an article published in the January 1, 2001 issue of Executive Intelligence Review, developed, at great length, the added dangers inherent in the outlook of Associate Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. These are not academic issues. Under the crisis conditions that I have already cited, the danger of a Rehnquist-Scalia Supreme Court majority, with a co-thinker like Mr. Ashcroft in the post of Attorney General, is that the Court and the Justice Department would function as a road-block to the necessary emergency economic measures that any sensible President would adopt, to promote the general welfare.

Worse, they would usher in the kinds of police state measures against any pockets of policy resistance that were adopted by the Nazis after February 1933. LaRouche began his article, "Scalia and the Intent of Law,'' with the following warning:

"A crucial, systemic, and deadly element of constitutional fraud, permeates and subsumes the most notable rulings bearing upon criminal justice, political, and economic issues, among those uttered by the U.S. Supreme Court's Associate Justice Antonin Scalia. For reasons I shall identify here, Scalia's avowed doctrine of 'textualism,' if continued in practice under presently onrushing conditions of deep financial crisis, leads, quickly, either to a self-doomed fascist dictatorship, or a rapid descent of society directly into chaos.

"If Scalia's dogma were to continue to define the majority view of the U.S. Supreme Court, an early slide into chaos could occur simply as a result of a specific political inability of the incoming government: its inability to muster the kind of political support needed for any of those kinds of legislative and other measures, by means of which our nation could be saved from the now rapidly accelerating threat of financial and economic chaos. No effective measures to deal with this present crisis, could be taken, without overriding promptly virtually every principle for which Scalia has presently come to represent in that Court....

"Given the implications of the grave financial crises faced by the U.S.A. today, the crucial fact of greatest importance concerning Scalia's doctrines on law, is that his political and legal outlook is identical, on all crucially relevant points of comparison, to the legal dogmas used to bring Adolf Hitler to power during a roughly comparable period of grave financial crisis in Germany. Specifically, Scalia expresses the same explicitly Romantic dogmas of the pro-fascist 'conservative revolution' of G.W.F. Hegel, Friedrich Nietszche et al., which Scalia has imitated, in keeping with the model precedent of the so-called 'Kronjurist' of Nazi Germany, Carl Schmitt. That is the Schmitt who was the legal architect of the doctrine creating those dictatorial powers given, with 'finality,' to the Nazi regime of Adolf Hitler.

"At this juncture, that importance of that issue of Scalia's personality, must not be avoided, and my warning should not be considered as in any way an exaggerated one. Even allowing for the secondary differences in method between that British radical-empiricist school, which is followed by Scalia, and continental European forms of philosophical Romanticism of Schmitt and his predecessors, Scalia's radically nominalist form of legal philosophy, is implicitly fully as evil in its inhering effects, and shares all of the crucial features, which were the worst implications of way in which the doctrines of Schmitt were used to confer dictatorial (Notverordnung) powers upon Adolf Hitler. Indeed, from the standpoint of philosophy of law in general, Scalia's doctrine is intrinsically even more hideous than that of Schmitt.

"Even from the standpoint of Scalia's specifically British, radical-empiricist dogma of 'textualism,' it is already clear, that under the relatively gravest conditions of international banking crisis, such as those of 1932-1933 and, the worse crisis of today, that the application of the legal doctrines of either a Schmitt or a Scalia must tend to result, equally, in either the early imposition of the most hideous modern form of dictatorship, as ferocious as that of Hitler, within the U.S.A. itself; or, as I have already said, in the more likely alternative, the attempt to enforce Scalia's or kindred doctrine, would lead to the simple disintegration of the U.S. as a nation, a disintegration like that of Shelley's Ozymandias.

"I recapitulate that just-stated point for clarity, as follows.

It were inevitable, that if the doctrine expressed by Scalia, were to continue to prevail at the highest levels of the U.S. government, that under the conditions of crisis now confronting the U.S.A., and also the world at large, the result must either be a form of a dictatorship in the U.S.A. as bad, and probably worse than that in Germany under the Hitler dictatorship, or, should such a dictatorship fail, as is likely, the worst dark age in the recent memory of our planet. I am not predicting an Armageddon; I am Jonah delivering a warning to the U.S. Nineveh, warning of the available choice before us all. Unless Scalia's influence is effectively resisted, such dismal prospects were virtually inevitable for the near future.''

Mr. Ashcroft has a long-standing record of public policy stands that contradict the fundamental Constitutional provisions of the General Welfare Clause of the Preamble, that demand of the Federal Government, nothing less than the zealous pursuit of the inalienable rights of every individual citizen to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.'' As Missouri Attorney General, as Governor, and later as U.S. Senator, Mr. Ashcroft has fought against the rights of all Americans to equal educational opportunities, he has been a zealous advocate of the death penalty, has placed states rights above the proper role of the Federal Government, and has labored to undermine the U.S. Constitution through a series of efforts to remove safeguards against frivolous or radical amendments.

One of the unfortunate legacies of the Clinton Administration is that the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigations, today, enjoy greater unchecked bureaucratic power than at any time in recent memory. Early efforts by the Clinton Administration to curb the excessive powers of the DOJ and the FBI, built up during previous administrations were succesfully thwarted, to the point that the Presidency, itself, became a first-order target of federal law enforcement agencies, rendering later reform impossible. In the past, I have presented testimony before this Committee, documenting the shameful pattern of judicial abuses by the FBI and the Department of Justice Criminal Division, in Operation Fruehmenschen (which targeted thousands of African-American elected officials for judicial frame-up), in the Waco and Ruby Ridge massacres, and, most emphatically, in the railroad prosecution of Lyndon LaRouche and dozens of his political associates. The LaRouche case was described by former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark in 1995 testimony before an independent commission on Justice Department tyranny: "I believe [the LaRouche case] involves a broader range of deliberate and systematic misconduct and abuse of power over a longer period of time in an effort to destroy a political movement and leader, than any other federal prosecution in my time or to my knowledge.''

In 1998, a bipartisan majority of members of the House of Representatives backed the McDade-Murtha bill, which attempted to place serious constraints on the Justice Department, the FBI, and other Federal law enforcement agencies--to prevent the continuing pattern of official criminality and abuses, targeted against American citizens. That effort was only partially successful. Much remains to be done to assure that the U.S. Justice Department no longer serves as a government sponsored political police and assassination bureau.

Were John Ashcroft to be confirmed as Attorney General, he would only augment the horrible abuses of power and criminal tyranny, already rampant within the Justice Department and FBI bureaucracies, especially under the global crisis conditions I have outlined above. For all of these reasons, the appointment of John Ashcroft must be rejected by this Committee.

    Thank you.

Ever read the Gospel of St. Thomas which is actually written in Aramaic, and was a first hand account of Jesus's teachings instead of a 300 year later translated translation handed down by a bunch of desert dwellers suffering from heat stroke? You should. It's why I think that Jesus would be appalled by what stands as Christianity today. He wasn't for organized religion, you know.

And if it intices you further - the Catholic Church calls it heresy because it threatens their jobs. For instance:

Jesus said, "If your leaders say to you, 'Look, the (Father's) kingdom is in the sky,' then the birds of the sky will precede you. If they say to you, 'It is in the sea,' then the fish will precede you. Rather, the kingdom is within you and it is outside you. When you know yourselves, then you will be known, and you will understand that you are children of the living Father. But if you do not know yourselves, then you live in poverty, and you are the poverty."

In America there are now two types of Christians.

The first is the "Christian Right" who blindly follow G.W. Bushs' talk and swagger like everything he says and does is the actual work of Jesus himself! Where in the Bible, other than the Anti-Christ, does God mention a second leader of his followers?

The second christian sect now in America is those who don't follow Pat Robertson and his 700 Club which support killing IRAQ women and children by bombing a complete neighborhood because a terroist just might be there.

Having said this, What kind of Christian would support killing other people who never did anything to Americans? It was Sadamm that was the murder. So is it now true tht G.W. Bush is a much worst murder of the IRAQ people. Almost 34,000 innocent IRAQ women, men and children have been murdered by our President's actions since the war of 3 years was started?

When will the killing stop, IT WILL NEVER STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not until Americans are off of Arab soil will the terrorist stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here are other things to consider that your President is supporting:

WWWIII with IRAN! (Coming sooner than you think)

Lack of security at U.S. Borders!

Lieing, Spying and other illegal God given rights!

Sell of American Security Interests to other countries!

Destruction of U.S. Economy (as we know it)!

Crash of the Housing Market (December 2006)

Trading Federal Land to Banks who hold worthless home loans!

Sell of home loan contracts to Saudi Arabia (your new landlord)!

Crash of the U.S. Stock Market (April 2007)

Open American Borders and non-searched cargo containers and it is not IF it is WHEN a nuke will destroy Los Angeles or Houston or Newark or Miami.

So sit back, crack a bud or lite up the other bud and get ready to die because G.W. Bush is doing exactly what the terrorist want him to do.

    I don't own a home, I don't pay taxes and I don't support our first U.S. Dictator!

    DO YOU!

Just yesterday, I sent ths note to many Democratic Senators:

    Dear Members of Congress:

As a Democrat, I am horrifically appalled at the utter LACK of backbone, and the overwhelming COWARDICE, displayed by all of you in not supporting Senator Russ Feingold’s proposed censure of President Bush.

    Shame on ALL of you.

At a time when the Democratic Party needs leadership that will move our country OUT of the quagmire of cronyism, lies, ineptitude, and moral vacuity that characterizes the current administration, NONE of you — out of selfish concern for your own vainglorious careers — is willing to stand up to the President and his administration. NONE of you, all who talk a good talk, is willing to walk the walk with Senator Feingold.

Our country stands on the brink of total catastrophic collapse in any number of ways — economic, moral, medical, scientific, and pollitical — and NONE of you is willing to do what is right...except for Senator Feingold.

When push comes to shove, you all turn tail and run for the hills, hiding your yellow bellies from the public view, and diving into the ocean of cowardice, where your jellyfish lives can go on while all around you, your communities suffer and decay.

For six long years, we have suffered through horrible international death and destruction wrought by a flippant, apathetic leader and his equally heinous henchmen who call themselves politicians. And for six long years, NO ONE has had the fortitude to stand up to what is wrong via their ACTIONS.

Your paper rhetoric is just that. No...it’s worse than that. It’s no longer worth the toilet paper it’s been written on.

We have the BEST CHANCE we have ever had at this time in our recent history to take back the reins of an errant stallion, and tame it into a majestic animal that the world will be in awe of. And we are BLOWING it at every gallop, pace, and charge.

It’s time to quit pawing the dust with your unused hooves, and start thundering ahead in a furious stampede of righteousness that will RIGHT the wrongs that have been done, and turn this country away from its path to sure destruction over the cliffs of immorality and prejudice.

Fall in line. I PRAY TO GOD you will fall in line behind Senator Feingold, run with him, and overtake and divert an administration hell-bent on destroying anything it finds in its path that blocks its destination of personal gain and greedy self glorification.

Until you do...until you can find some semblance of dignity, morality, justice, and condign conviction, I will no longer call myself a Democrat. As you are today, other than Senator Feingold, NONE of you represents me.

    With profound disgust,

    Stephen Eliasson

    Question?

Has anyone heard about the Land Trade for Debt Reduction Act that is being planned to get America out of debt? It is suppose to be put up for vote days after the 2006 mid-term elections.

In short, it allows corporations and others to sign over their real estate holdings in the U.S. to the owners of U.S. Bonds (Mainly Saudi Arabia and Japan) to lower the U.S. debt. If you do this you will get a huge tax break.

    Another question?

Can someone post a link to the 1998 IRAQ Liberation Act that the democratically controlled congress (at that time) passed to remove Sadam from power. I can not seem to find it.

I think it would be nice to post all the senators names who voted for this act that has resulted in approx. 34,000 innocent IRAQ men, women children being murdered by the American way - Democracy. GO BUSH!

    Another Question?

    Is the U.S. democracy over?

    I mean, illegal spying!; illegal envasion of another country; illegal lieing to commit murder!; illegal torture of prisoners; illegal discloser of CIA agent identity; illegal transfers of Billions of dollars - no one knows where 8.8 billion dollars went in IRAQ and no one has been investigated either;

and Now, we are headed for a show down with IRAN? Can everyone say WWW III !

Illegal spying, murder of innocent children, so Torture of those who dare go against him could be the next thing on the KING's mind. It was the KING who said, "You are either with us or against us". For the record KING, I will never be with you!

    Black and White !

You either do what you are told and allow the illegal activity of your new KING to happen or you are against the KING!

Wecome to the New U.S. the "United Slaves of America" Hail the King, Hile George!

F' Bush, F' the Elite, F' Corporate America and F' all Americans for condoning murder of IRAQ men, women and children. You sorry spineless followers of the new KING BUSH all deserve to die at his torture prisons!

    And most of all

F' the Religious Right morons who put Bush back in office.

I hope God is going to protect you from the thousands of illegal's coming across the U.S. border each day who aim to kill you when the time is right.

    So, what say you?

Quick, duck, crawl back in to that plastic duck tape protect hole you call home as I think the Code just went to "Terror Level Red".

No, I appolagize for the false alarm, it was just a crazy radom shooting in a Denny's.

Sure beats the guy delibertly driving over nine (9) College students because the U.S. is killing Arab's in IRAQ

    Don't you think?

No one is safe anymore in America.

Yep, your KING drops his bombs over there and you think you will be safe over here.

They bombed the U.S. once and they will do it again but, it won't be planes leveling Los Angeles or Houston or Newark or Miami.

But, KING George will just stand on the top of the rubble in his Dictator approved Radiation Suit and again say, "You are either with us or against us".

Comment by Craig in Post No. 66 above. Thanks Craid as you have it right.

    There were only 3 highjackers on 9/11;

    These islamic individuals were all dressed in Captains suits when they finally boarded;

    Each of the 3 sat in the spare ride seat in the cockpit of the 3 planes;

There were no more than 3 highjackers; (Just another lie by the King & his court)

Has anyone seen more than 3 terrorists being filmed at the airports on 9/11? Nope.

All the poor people (not one jew) killed in the twin towers on 9/11 so that all jews world wide could be protected. By ridding IRAQ and IRAN and so on in this now endless "no enemy" war.

Before 1946, theire was no jewish state.

    Lies, lies, and more lies.

Does everyone understand that the more lies that are told the more people must die to take over the world and plant democracy!

Just like Hitler did in his own twisted way, KING George is planting democracy on people who did not ask for it and mostly don't want it. We Americans are no better than the thugs running our country!

Will IRAQ be the only CIVIL WAR before it is over. What I mean when KING George takes his seat at the Thrown!

What Future, What Dream, What Freedom...... What a Joke!

  208. mighty aphrodite Says:

Dear Anti Semite Igor - AKA - good bye george. You only saw three hijackers??? And you're blind???? I always thought it was clever the way those crafty Jews managed to get every JEW out of the twin towers - AND - then make a plan to destroy Iraq and Iran. They'll throw No. Korea in for free - "for you --- such a a deal").

Sadly, I can only conclude that you an ignorant paranoid - put away sharp objects....

Sweetheart, these people are too wealthy to be concerned about pedestrian tax cuts. Power over the little people is what they are all about. There is no link between great fortunes and conservatives. On the other hand most the big moneyed families in this country will tell you they are liberal. It isn't fashionable or profitable to be a knuckle dragging Right Winger and you don't get invited to all the really good parties.

  213. good-bye george Says:

Commment: by: mighty aphrodite toward good-bye georege

You prove my point. You don't know if I am just paranoid or working for the Government with the inside know. You show us all that your type can only result to lies and propaganda to try and fool the masses - just more lies to cover up the truth.

The majority in this failing country is not being fooled any more. They now understand the truth that King Bush is a liar and violated the law with illegal spying on American Citizens and who knows what else. KING Bush can never be trusted and needs to be removed from office.

Could you point me to the link on the internet where "MORE" than 3 highjackers are being screened on 9/11. You can't because there were only 3 entering the Airports that day. Post 66 had it right that many of the supposed highjackers are living in other countries. These were suppose to individuals that where dead for various reasons but, again the KING Bush & Court got bad intel.

It is a fact that in the Oklahoma bombing all the ATF agents were told not to go to work that day! Why?

You call me paranoid! Considering all the information and come to a logical conclusion based on "All" of the facts is not being paranoid. When it does not add up; when there is eveidence that says otherwise; when it just does not make since; It is just more of the same, lies, lies and more lies.

Did King Bush Lie, mislead, and prop up evidence to go to War with IRAG = YES

Did King Bush & Court know "Bin Ladin to Attack America" 1 week before 9/11 = YES
    (Read the unclassified NSA Documents)

Why did the Air Command Jets go the wrong way on 9/11?

Why did King Bush just sit there in the classroom in Florida until the 2nd plane crashed?

Where are all those WMD's ???

Read the IRAQ Liberation Act passed by Congress in 1998!

I have seen many pictures of 9/11 plane impacts, no plane parts where in the Pentagon? Anywhere!

Only the inital blast of the plane crashing in to the tower would result in elevated temperatures, not the suppose substaiined 2000 + degrees as claimed by the Govenment paid experts.

Did you see the black smoke on the towers? Black smoke indicates incomplete combustion which could never generate the temperatures necessary to bring down those towers.

I could go on and on but, why waste any more time on your insulting intelegence!

You call me paranoid! Sure, lets consider I am.

By King Bush killing innocent men, women and children in IRAQ and soon to be IRAN, is this not a much greater paranoia by our great leaders to kill them over there before they get us here? Who in the HELL is "they"?

All they have to do is run all the illegals out of this country and shutdown the borders!

Killing them over there is only going to further the radical islamic cause world wide until that day when L.A. or Houston or Newark or Miami gets Nuked! Is this OK with you becuase it is coming? Who in the HELL is "them" ?

Then King George will have no other choice but to take over the world to protect democray. I think he could really have a chance at this based on his preformance in IRAQ so far.

I am not paranoid, I have been told I am th ONE !

  214. mighty aphrodite Says:

    Response to Mr 5150,

"They now understand the truth that King Bush is a liar and violated the law with illegal spying on American Citizens"
****Good news!!! The diabolical King George retires to the White House residence every afternoon to polish his crown and listen to telephone conversations with people in the US AND overseas terror connections. Your delusional paranoia is of no interest to him.

"It is a fact that in the Oklahoma bombing all the ATF agents were told not to go to work that day! Why?"
****Ever notice what close friends Former Presidents Bush and Clinton have become?? Some speculate that Clinton is searching for a "father-figure"but we REALLY know that the Clinton administratio was part of the evil conservative cabal.

"Did King Bush Lie, mislead, and prop up evidence to go to War with IRAG = YES"
****Along with the clever and misleading liberals in the Senate and the House....

"Did King Bush & Court know “Bin Ladin to Attack America” 1 week before 9/11 = YES"
****they knew Bin Laden had an attack planned, but when and where were completely "up in the air" (no pun intended).

"Why did King Bush just sit there in the classroom in Florida until the 2nd plane crashed?"
****Because the first plane crash was thought to be an accident. Initial news reports weren't even sure WHAT type of plane hit the WTC. The second "hit" indicated a plot.

The rest of your $h*t is the stuff of paranoid schizo's - you might want to watch the documentaries discussing the skeletal framing of the WTC to understand the ignorance of your construction/combustion argument. It might be to your delusional benefit to partake in a good run, walk or swim. (the following to hummed to the "Twilight Zone" theme..."dododododododooooooooo"

As for who "they" are - "they" are RADICAL , fanatical Muslims.

  215. good-bye george Says:

    So mighty aphrodite:

Are you saying that "they" and "them" could be your next door neighbors? So we will be bombing them as well?

Why don't you stop the personal attacks by maliciously definding why King BUSH is killing "THOUSANDS" of ARAB innocent men, women and children.

    Go Ahead.

Your (p)Resident KING is nothing but a Facist Rich Freak whore for corporate America.

It was just released today in a report out of Washingiton D.C. and on national news that cells of isalmic fundimentialists are expecdted to pop up all over the world and the IRAQ war has only one accomplishment. Your beloved KING is killing innocent men, women and children. (Inlcudes American Service men and women) and not a Damn think else.

I quess in YOUR mind anyone that states the facts and is bold enough to disgrace this treason ridden administration is only a "paranoid schizo’s".

Let freedom reign under U.S. Dictator KING George W. Bush !

Hile George, and Kill all IRAQ and IRAN people as we do not negotiate with "Terrorist" (ARAB's)

Sir, Doooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo you Get the picture now

  216. mighty aphrodite Says:

Dear Mr. 5150 - I know my neighbours - they are wonderful people (even the Dems!!) But the good news: I keep up with my target practice at the range - I have a couple of "5150" clients.

The only "facts" you spew are conjecture and illustrate your gullibility and dissatisfaction with your life.

"Why don’t you stop the personal attacks by maliciously definding (sic) why King BUSH is killing “THOUSANDS” of ARAB innocent men, women and children."
****Sadly, it's called collateral damage - a very sanitary name for an unfortunate occurence in war zones. Please show me in all of your reports and conspiracy theories ONE SINGLE war without the loss of innocent unfortunates.

Sweeping statements are the hallmark of the delusional and crazy. I do not believe all Iraqis and Iranis are terrorists. Most people over there wish to lead their own lives free of violence and raise their families.

  217. good-bye george Says:

    Dear mighty aphorodite,

sorry about the (sic) but, all I asked is that you kindly stop making personal attacks and then you include "Target Practice" to me. Now you tell me who the sick f' is?

Itellegence is defined by the pure nature of things an not how well you pass your words of wisdom or gas in your quest to silence me. Is this not your intent? There are millions of people who will "now" not stop untiil this war is over and KING BUSH is gone.

You ask for me to "Please show me (you) in all of your reports and conspiracy theories ONE SINGLE war without the loss of innocent unfortunates."

You are characterizing this war as if it was just your average everday ole' common war but, it is not! It was based on Lies, deception, fraud and DEATH of THOUSANDS of U.S. service men and women.

Then there is your so "called collateral damage". Simply, amazing how you just elevated yourself to supreme species! Simply amazing!

That your KING can just bomb away, hey what the f', its just a bunch of DEAD U.S. Service Men and Women collateral damage, yea - just go and tell this to their "innocent unfortunates" wives, mothers, brothers, fathers, sisters, mothers, sons and daughters! Simply Amazing!

How can you not equate the same theology of "Dead People". Let's see if I got this right, Just because KING BUSH said kill'em all (they & them) that some how its ok.

OK, i appologize that I had it all wrong in my thinking.

I don't think I need any other information to fully understand how life in the U.S under your thinking would be. Bombs away there just a bunch of innocent women, men and children.

    Simply Amazing!

  222. good-bye george Says:

    I agree with I-R-I

"GOD you are stupid." emphasis added.

Again just another lie to cover up the truth as I am not a progressive in any way.

I am a firm believer that as this country moves forward (bankrupt, freedomless, and mostly owned by Saudi and Japan companies) their will be many who will want the bottom to drop out so the masses will lose everthing. History has shown that you must first back subversive (or lied to and confused) people in to a corner with no other options (such as what happen to the jews in Germany's WWII) before anything will be done.

So it is most lilkely history will repeat a rebirth of this failing nation but, this time it will won't be pea shooters and soup lines. No, it will be with technology and automatic weapons and tanks and bombs, model air planes, posioned water, anthrax and the list goes on and on. I do NOT advicate this kind of nonsense as it only leads to more death and distruction which I am totally against. I don't see any other options for 300 million people to other throw there new U.S. Dictator, KING BUSH & Court.

Dosn't the thought of bombing people just get your conserveritive blood a pumping.

In Oklahoma they are going to pass a state law that treats gang members as terrorists. If you are a member of a gang and your associates break any law it would be considered an act of terrorism. For example "painting a gang sign on a fence" and you as a "alledged" member of this sole called gang could get 30 years to life eventhough you did not perform the act or had no knowledge. You know, just like Sadam and his people, Not part of the act!

I am not making this up!

How long do you think before these redneck morons apply this to war protesters and speaking out in public?

Of course, since you have labled me as a "crazy". Should they just go ahead and bomb the gangs in Oklahoma and disregard the "collarteral damage"? Lke you suggested in your previous post? You know the part about, "innocent men, women and chidren" just like the U.S. Service men in IRAQ who have been lied to about the real reasons they are forced to KILL innocent Men, Women and Chidren in IRAQ.

Yes, the absoulte EVIL KING BUSH has a lot of blood on his greedy untrustworthy hands.

I say we stop the War! Stop the sinceless killing! Bring our TROOPS HOME! and Protect our BORDERS!

    That's what I say!

Of course, you say I am just crazy but, you are the stupid one.

Look I was not the one who said that first!

By the way, are you paid by the Whitehouse or NSA to provide BS cover in these forums like so many other whores doing the dirty work for KING BUSH ?
