On MTP today, Pat whipped a bottle and said he needed to take a dose of “memory pills” after Tim asked him why they didn’t they go to Congress and change the statute to allow for new activity in the warrantless wiretapping.
Pat is so partisan that two potential witnesses during the Sen. Shelby-NSA leak investigation wouldn’t testify because Roberts wouldn’t recuse himself. As The Hill reported:
“The pace has been slowed by difficulties obtaining information, difficulties created partly by Sen. Pat Roberts’s (R-Kan.) decision not to recuse himself from the case, the source said. The investigation has been conducted “off and on” for six months…One reason the investigation has dragged on is because Roberts’s continued participation has chilled the cooperation of witnesses.”
This investigation was barely reported on by the traditional media, but would have caused serious problems for Shelby and Republicans.

They finally attained power after 8 years under President Clinton. For the most part, republicans are entertained and think it is a good thing to smear, slander and beat up on democrats (see our own trolls, in every thread). The old republican party that may have been a “big tent” is no more. They still use that language, but we all see they are more heirarchical than Democrats. They aren’t willing to publically question bushco because they are still having a mighty fine time defaming Democrats. Basically, they (republicans) have become a party of shallow, craven TV watchers to the daily life here in the US and think of it as Survivor or American Idol played out for real.

Thomas, I appreciate your outrage but just take care that you don’t become so filled with hate you end up becoming exactly what you despise most. Hate is all the ReichWingNeoFascists have to keep them going and to justify their actions and crimes against humanity. Our ability to view them objectively, as a dog catcher views a rabid dog in the street for example, is what separates progressive critical thinkers from the war mongering ReichWingNeoFascists consumed by their own hate and greed. March 22nd, 2006 at 6:11 amPlease let’s not insult pigs. I once saw a program about them on the BBC, which showed how intelligent they are–for example, they can learn to use a computer, whereas most dogs can’t.
Aside from their intelligence, as I have pointed out to my husband who used to shout “pig” at corrupt/stupid politicians appearing on the TV screen, pigs can taste good to eat. I personally think Roberts lacks the intelligence of a well-trained pig and could hardly taste delicious. My husband now calls the politicians he doesn’t like “cockroaches.” As they are rather useless creatures, I think the comparison to Pat Roberts is quite apt.
