say hearings should be held on Sen. Russ Feingold’s proposal to censure President Bush for violating the Constitution and the 1978 Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.
I’m still waiting for the rest of the spineless dems to stand up with Feingold and censure Bush. What are you toadies waiting for? Quit playing it safe, grow a set of balls and censure Bush. He needs a slap on the wrist before we can slap on the cuffs.
this is definitely good news and shows that perhaps this time the democrats are looking at the numbers and seeing that over 400,000 have signed the moveon.org petition, and that the poll last week showed 42% of the people support censuring the monkey…
Seems to me the Drmocrats are damn slow on the up take. All of them should of been on the spot, if they would listen to the public they would of been. I think they all suffer from the same dumb shit, I don’t want to see, I do as I please no matter what that the administration has. More of saddling up to the pig trouth to gorge themselves than thinking of our country, people and constitution. What a terrible mess. Any one with a sane mind would not vote for spinless parasites of any party that vote for greed and distruction instead of truth and the constitution…Blessings, we need them.
Remember it took form the summer of 72 until August of 74 to get the first crook, we have only been at this for about 6 months with any real talk inside the belt way. The politicians always follow the polls no matter how much they lie and tell us they do not look at then, hell that is the first thing Karl reads and translates for Bush every morning. (Too bad Karl is telling him they have another swiftboat plan for this election because the American people are waking up and the lies are not effective any longer.)
The Dems don’t even seem to be able to take baby steps to resist Bush. They can’t be led by the nose, by example, or by polls. They don’t care what the people want from them, they can’t be bothered to be an opposition party, they stand on the sidelines while American sinks. I am so disillusioned with our political system. What do we have to do to get the Democratic leaders to respond to the Democratic base?
>a lot more than that needs to happen, but until you
>get some Republicants to go along, this is all treading
>water…
you miss the point. this is as much about the rebirth of the Democrat party as it is about GW, Republicans, or even winning. 2 years ago, the Democrats couldn’t swim fast enough to get to the center. they thought looking and sounding like Republicans was the way to win. it was ALL about winning for those partisan lemmings. now, we have some good Democrats standing up for progressive politics who arent ashamed to be called liberals (remember how the Repubs talked about libers? you should–it was only a few months ago that just calling someone a liberal scared the pants off the Dems). we now have a left wing who wants to fight for the New Deal and the Progressive platform. no, it isnt a majority–yet. but running to the center never fooled anyone.
ive been saying for months that its time for the democrats to stick a banner in the ground staking out the Progressive territory and moving towards protecting the New Deal. Hilary is a waste of time, and if we all marched towards the center with her, we’d have to live through more defeat, erosion of the Supreme Court, and we might as well move the Congress to the 700 Club Studios.
Lyndon Johnson said the Democrats would have a problem for a generation after passing the Civil Rights bills. he was right. but now its tiome to move back and stake out a future. winning a few seats in Congress by being virtual Republicans sells out the People. I’d rather we lost some battles as we move to win the war.
its worth it to go down the Censure path. thats why some courageous senators and congressmen have embraced it. they know its ‘iffy’. but it needs to start now.
At least they are calling for hearings – I doubt that would be happening if all the Senators were not being deluged with Emails and calls from Democrats. We all know how “thugs” treat Democratic hearings (i.e., in the basement, poor lighting, no oaths for witnesses)but this is a start. It keeps it in the public attention. For the reluctant and cowardly Dems who are afraid to stand out in front of the rest, a hearing will provide them with legitimate reason to do so, and little excuse for them not to. We must keep all of these scandals and violations in the forefront of the news via letters to newspapers, Emails to representatives, and whatever means we have, because when we win seats in November and take over in January, we will have everything ready to begin prosecutions.
kipster you are right on ! god don’t let the dems put hillary up for the presidental spot. russ, edwards, kukunich, anyone but hillary!!!! i’m disappointed that there are so few dems behind the feingold move, wtf! are they waiting for? even if it goes no where, at least they can unite for a few votes to show that they are responsive to the people. corporations are so far embedded in our government!, both sides, one has to wonder if it is even worth caring!
you know this is just more hoi paloi.
The ‘cloture club’ and their brethren rePIGnicans will say something totally inane like:
it’s not a good time to censure!

March 20th, 2006 at 3:34 pmI know many of you don’t care, but has Dean spoke up on the subject of censure?

March 20th, 2006 at 7:15 pmPlease, if you haven’t already done so, sign the petition supporting Feingold’s censure resolution.

Also, here is a list of all Senators, with links. Please write or email them.

Bush probably uses the warrantless wiretapping to get dirt on the Dems, and is blackmailing them into silence. Makes sense to me…
March 21st, 2006 at 9:18 amI am appalled that Senator Feingold’s resolution failed:
The case for impeachment is very, very solid and our US Senate can’t even find the guts to censure?
