For someone who claims to be an attorney, you sure are stupid about the law and about security from Nazi/Fascist attacks on our constitution. I guess you are a rightful heir of your ‘Austrian’ Fascist origins.

Comment by Ryan Neat — March 23, 2006 @ 8:33 pm

I used to know a guy who was a law librarian. He was on the internet most of the day because he was rarely busy. I've also had friend who were attorneys. They typically work 60+ hours a week once they've become established. I've dated guys guy who were expected, as a junior lawyers to put in at least 100 billable hours.

My guess is that she is support staff at best.

"True progressive believers might want to DEMAND a debate about the NSA surveillance program. Three or four debates before the ‘06 congressional elections should really demonstrate to the country the scope and breadth of the Democrat Security Plan - there is a PLAN, right??? Comment by mighty aphrodite "

Sure, it involves tracking down Bin Laden, and not selling our port securities to Al Queda tied countries.

Wouldn't that be nice.

I think a debate is a marvelous idea. We really should talk about why the President feels he has more authority than the Constitution, and the right to spy on americans without a warrant or just cause. For someone who claims to be an attorney, you sure are stupid about the law and about security from Nazi/Fascist attacks on our constitution. I guess you are a rightful heir of your 'Austrian' Fascist origins.

#162; The Pentagon blamed the press for losing the Vietnam War. Never mind that the Pentagon and Westmoreland set the strategy and operations. The press ONLY reported what they saw IN THE FIELD. The

When will this president begin to accept responsibilty for his incompetence, and come up with concrete policies/solutions? The last time he went on his speech marathons, it was the Democrats and opponents of the war fault that Iraq is becoming a killing field. This time, it's the media he's blaming for reporting the shit as it is in Iraq! Who's he going to blame when the covert civil war becomes overt, and he decides to go on more speeching sprees to his praise-singing sychophants? The soldiers? Their spouses? Their relatives? Their children? Hopefully, it would be the neocons, Rush Limpfart, Bill O'Lielly, Shown Vanity, and Fox-Fake News!! Is this happening in the US or in North Korea, China, Iran, Cuba, or in the former Soviet Union? For this is NOT the America I know and love!!!!!

I agree with the progs - to REALLY put the nail in the Bush presidency - LET'S DEMAND, DEMAND I SAY (!!!) THAT THE MEDIA REPORT ONLY (!!!) NEGATIVE NEWS ABOUT THIS WAR!!!! (Did that sound stridently pi$$ed off enough for "fellow travellers"??)

the Administration's obsession with "Happy Talk" is unfortunately mirrored in most level of society. Also, anecdotal reports of "things not being so bad over there" tend to be presented as evidence by those who are biased to believe in W. Case in point: a person I know has a relative who recently returned from deployment in Iraq. He consistently reported during his time there that "things were not as bad as they are presented on TV" - the person I know is, of course, a rabid Bush-lover.

Come to find out, the military relative in Iraq was posted to the Baghdad Airport, and NEVER LEFT in all his time there (because you could get killed on the road into town). I guess if that's your definition of "not too bad", then there's really no arguing. . .

Mass Lib,

"There’s no point arguing with these idiots. What kind of 'logic' is this: '…you lost. Accept it.'"

Yup, exactly. It is /not/ possible to argue (in the positive sense of that word) when logic is dragged down to the sewer-level of "gut feeling" (which is what some cons -- and some liberals, jeez -- seem to mean by the word - surreal but true) or crapbytes like these.

There will be no real advances unless the two sides can agree to really listen, think, and collaborate. As far as I'm concerned that is just a given. If the left (and I include myself in that group) should "win" some things incl. elections in the months and years to come, and the pendulum should swing back the other way (as it usually does) ... all those other folks will simply be like we are now, sitting outside in the cold, waiting, stewing, hating (whatever) until the pendulum swings back again.

I'm ready for a digital clock myself - no pendulum! ;)

#81 - There's no point arguing with these idiots. What kind of "logic" is this: "...you lost. Accept it." No dissent. We're supposed to give up and agree with everything Bush does because he won? These people have NO CAPACITY FOR RATIONAL DISCOURSE. Ignore them.

#30 plunger - Excellent point. There has to be a quid prod quo there. Everything is for sale with these unconscionable power mongers.

Bush's actions and words this week are beneath contempt. Nothing he said is remotely true. He's a criminal.

When you put Bush infront of a group of people who don’t worship the ground he walks on, he gets tough questions that he can’t answer.

Dubya ain't allowed to walk on the ground. They had to build a special boardwalk for him one place he visited (and tear it down afterwards) so he wouldn't get his little tootsies dirty.....

It's all about image. Perception is important.

Cheers,
