“Former first lady Barbara Bush donated an undisclosed amount of money to the Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund with specific instructions that the money be spent with an educational software company owned by her son Neil.” TPM has details on Neil’s firm.
Of course, for those of us not part of the royalty, we can’t do things like that. I’d love to do the sleight of hand that lets me make donations personally, take them off my taxes, and require that they be used to boost my company’s sales.
Laura Bush is a scumbag like her husband. She killed her boyfriend when a younger woman under skethcy circumstances and chose to marry a mentally ill alcoholic. This latest bit of family corruption shouldnt come as a surprise to anyone. What is a shock is why the media find this robotic old harpy of any interest.
gee babs, your so nice to the ‘underprivlidged’…she’s probably all a twitter at what a wonderful thing she has done. How about a ‘hard hat’ and a broom?
How could anyone be surprised by this? What a pathetic example of “family values” those bastard Bush’s are. As George Washington Hayduke said in Edward Abbey’s classic book “The Monkeywrench Gang”….”I piss on you all from a considerable height.” I cant help but think he had the Bush’s in mind when he wrote that line.
An SEC filing shows William H.T. Bush collected about $1.9 million in cash, plus stock valued at $800,000, from the deal.

WASHINGTON — As President Bush embarks on a new effort to shore up public support for the war in Iraq, an uncle of the commander in chief is collecting $2.7 million in cash and stock from the recent sale of a company that profited from the war.
A report filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission shows that William H.T. Bush collected just under $1.9 million in cash plus stock valued at more than $800,000 from the sale of Engineered Support Systems Inc. to DRS Technologies of New Jersey.
The $1.7-billion deal closed Jan. 31. Both firms have extensive military contracts.
This is a tax break. Directing it to a related party could be a violation of the tax code as it is a family transaction. There’s an issue with the ‘circular’ nature that can create.
it’s really a pretty pathetic version of a tax avoidance product. I guess Barb figures the IRS wont do anything about it.
I’m sure the software teaches the uppity crackheads to learn some respect for the white folks in Houston who are oh so generous.
The Bush’s never do anything that won’t benefit them. This is classic republicanism greed and selfishness. Hats off, Babs, you have shown us what you are made of.
The more reliable sources suggest that Laura was blackmailed into marrying Queen George the Dumb by the Queen Mother, the same Babs. Laura was given the choice of marriage to Junior or going to prison for manslaughter. I bet she would reconsider if she could do it over again.
It appears her priorities are in the wrong order. It is kind of disgusting that her motive wasn’t to help the Katrina survivors, but her son. Isn’t Neil the one that was also the poster boy for the Savings and Loan crisis in the late 80’s. It does slap the people in the face that donated to that organization.
They need the basics like housing, shelter, jobs, and schools.
Nightline last week showed a trailer community of about 500 Katrina survivors. They are so lost and scared they basically stay locked up in their trailors all day, even the kids. The kids aren’t in school, and if they were, I’m not sure the local’s have a enough resources to accommodate all of them. Gosh, even after the Tsunami, in India, they got the kids back into normal patterns of life which was built upon going to school. And we can’t do that even?
Two people, a dentist and doctor, who help people in 3rd world countries (this is what America has come to?), were there trying to help (where are all those Christian organizations and all those funds they have received under Bush). Apple computers were donated by Apple. They were to be housed in a building donated by Rosie’s charity, but the building sat outside the premise, uninstalled because apparently FEMA wouldn’t allow it (the broadcast might have changed that).
27- All of the Bush bandits brothers have been involved with a failed S&L somewhere, i.e. Jeb with at least one in FL, if not more. And, strangely enough, they all seemed to make money off of them. What foresighted investors these Bush boys are…
What a bunch of crooks. Down here I put my savings in a can and hide it.
But a family that lives off others miseries does tend to stay together, look at the bush gang. bunch of maggots.
In other news about this great family, it seems that Uncle Bucky just sold his company who was living off Iraq war contracts to the tune of about 3 million in the past. So reported at RAW STORY.
re Clyde (#26) Do you have the dope on that manslaughter incident? (and the shotgun wedding?)
re Pinhead (#3) It is easier to reason in the world of “if” than it is think about the actual salvation the Shrub Family Robbesome has provided us working people. I hope you live long enough to see what crawls out of the wreckage that was once a decent, prosperous country when the building comes down. As of now, though, Ol’ Defender of the Faithless, you have been bought and sold.
Is it truely charitable if you tell them how to use the donation? I din’t think so.
Of course you can give a directed gift to a charity – this is doen all the time. It’s usually not so direct as to benefit your son’s company, but restricted gifts are given all the time.
This is a tax break. Directing it to a related party could be a violation of the tax code as it is a family transaction. There’s an issue with the ‘circular’ nature that can create.
yes, it’s definitely a tax break because it’s a charitable contribution. yes, it’s a conflict of interest that involves related parties, but as long as it is disclosed to the Board I really don’t think there’s anything illegal about it. Immoral, sleezy and manipulative, sure, but not illegal.
Why doesn’t dipshit Neal just donate the friggin’ software? These people really have no clue the things they do are just evil. Just using the words Bush and educational in the same sentence is laughable. Don’t worry, there will be plenty of room for mamma in the Romanov-esque pit we dump these crooks into.
I’d like to know exactly WHEN the bulgy-eyed toad wrote the check. Considering the Hurricane struck in August 05, did she wait till the end of December? Just wondering…
Why doesn’t dipshit Neal just donate the friggin’ software?
because then his mom doesn’t get a tax deduction. and he doesn’t get to book sizeable profits for his company. this isn’t about helping those who are less fortunate, it’s a money arrangement.
#43 Just more ammunition that WILL be used in November. Everyone, keep track because we know how fast America can forget. But really, it’s human nature to want to forget the bad and remember the good. I don’t fault them as much as I fault myself for not doing more to bring reality into political discussions.
This year, it is no holds barred. I will not sit by and let these cavemen destroy what America has fought so hard for. We can’t let zealots hijack education and replace it with supernatural nonsense. I moved to a redstate to make a difference and I am pleased as punch to see the W stickers coming down.
I saw an African American gentleman yesterday who I see every morning in his little pickup truck. He used to have one of those black W bumper stickers and a W sticker that was cut from a flag (which is severly unpatriotic to me) on his truck. Now, no stickers. They are gone!! Good things happening.
Of course, for those of us not part of the royalty, we can’t do things like that. I’d love to do the sleight of hand that lets me make donations personally, take them off my taxes, and require that they be used to boost my company’s sales.
That beats making more investment….

March 23rd, 2006 at 3:54 pmWell let’s face it, Babs the Gargoyle Bush takes her of her honey boys . . .guilt for a life time of dysfunctional parenting?
As long as Babs keeps funding Neil he’ll stay out of American’s life savings in Savings and Loans and keeps him funded for his hooker/stripper urges.
The Bush “more for me family values” are sure to help the budget deficit and endless war funding, right?
