Washington Post blogger Ben Domenech regrets the error.

Don’t see an “I’m sorry” in that post.

  2. Ryan Neat says:

Unless you call for the ‘abolition of private property’, you’re not a communist. This ’slur’ is one of the most retarded thing that the Fascists use. The difference between america’s left and america’s right, is that america’s right is large (~30%) and MOSTLY FASCIST. America’s left is also quite large at about 30%, but the left would be considered ‘republicans’ and ‘conservative’ compared to those of only a generation ago.

When you’re being compared to a bonafide Nazi, everyone looks like a commie – it’s the theory of political relativity.

  3. BWasikIUgrad says:

Did Ben really write that though? Someone google it, it sounds familiar… hahaha.

  4. Silly Little American Boy says:

Now, on behalf of everybody else, I’d like to make a statement that I won’t regret.
Ben Domenech, you are dead to me.

  5. beavercleaver says:

Who the hell is Ben Domenech? Treat this intellectually challenged, self important dipshit just like you would any of the locals trolls,,,,ignore the gasbag! Sheeesh…I gotta splain’ everything to you guys?

  6. RunningDogLackey says:

Ben is being systematically disassembled over in the WaPo comments section:

I’m pretty sure the Post is giving this a second think. God knows they SHOULD be.

  7. Dem02020 says:

THERE SEEMS TO BE AN EXTRAORDINARY REACTION TO THIS BLOGGER

I mean consider it: This guy, whoever the heck he is, he’s no part of the print edition of the Washington Post, not that I know of. He’s simply somebody who’s been given a little bandwidth, on the same server and under the banner of the website of the Washington Post.

    So what?

Think about it: He could just as easily be blogging anywhere else, here included, under any banner whatsoever; and who would care? Not me.

This kind of strikes me as being nothing but just another Hack for the Administration sharing his personal affections for the Administration with anyone who might be so bored or otherwise so unoccupied as to read such a Hack’s thoughts.

The only difference being he flys the Washington Post banner over his personal affections for (and defenses of) the Administration.

So what? It’s the Washington Post’s shame, it’s poop in their diaper; I don’t have to smell it if I don’t want to.

Who cares about this Hack? Not me.

Yes, DOMENECH IS A SERIAL PLAGIARIST. Check out all the writing he’s stolen, including at least 1 rip-off from the Washington Post itself. The list of plagiarism is getting longer by the second!

  14. Innocent Bystander says:

Just spent a little time reading the apologists on RedState. Apparently, they’ve put up a 5 day waiting period for new posters :-) They are verbal slayers of liberals….but, ah, I guess they’d really rather not engage them on their own turf.

What’s most fascinating is the denial and the moral relativism/hypocrisy. One of theirs stealing someone else’s ideas without attribute? Hey, Ben’s a nice guy. Wonder how they would react to a Digby, T-Bogg, or Atrios being exposed? Right, they’d overlook it.

But, hey, I really don’t care if he’s a plagiarist….I just don’t have any respect for a darling of the RW blogosphere who equates our judgeships with the KKK or who can make money off of ’sniper’ coffee mugs. A real warrior, like most of his ilk…who don’t have the guts to put his own ass on the line for a war that he thinks is so good.

If he’s the ‘best and brightest’ of the next generation Republican, we don’t have too much to worry about.

  15. Ho Chi Minh says:

My father called MLK a communist, but for me the freedom riders and the civil rights movement were inspirational. I hold MLK’s ” I Have A Dream” speech as one of the best and inspiring I’ve ever heard. If that is what it means for MLK and Coretta, and Rosa to be “communists”, count ME as BETTER RED THATN DEAD.

  16. Evil Spaniard says:

As I see it, there is too much negative mythology and confussion about left & communism & social issues in the USA. The policies that in your country are too many times labelled “leftist” or “communist”, in Europe are simply a common sense issue, and are accepted as good by very different parties, as demochristians (rightists, but with christian values of fairness towards social issues), tories (traditionalist right in UK), socialists of all flavours, europeist parties (wanting to create a big social net in Europe), rightists parties (those who aren’t in the fringe of fascism ones), etc.

In fact, In Europe, the nordic countries, who have the bigger and better social coverage done by the state, and high taxes are mainly on the right side of the spectrum…

Maybe you must detach “social issues” and right-left concepts. After all, a country is ok if their citizens are ok.

Uthopic? Maybe, but not so uthopic here than there.

  22. Evil Spaniard says:

#21 You assume that Ben Domenech tought when he called a dead rights activist a commie?

  23. progressive and proud says:

#3 I saw the article about this guy’s fancy for plagarism. He isn’t even a hack, just a theif. It seems terribly difficult to find one respectable conservative journalist/blogger. Ah well, it’s just as difficult to find one respectable conservative politician.

  24. Marie says:

Typical Republican “apology” – not only insincere, but explained away as less than it was. WaPo has made a huge error in signing this arrogant jerk. If they fire him quickly, and publish their apology, the story ill go away soon. If they keep him, they will continue to decline in readership and prestige.

  25. Gerald Gibson says:

    Ben Domenech

Is a chick shit that can not debate like an intelligent person so only allows sheep to post on his RedState.org. Can you imagine if the founding fathers were like that? In the midst of creating the Declaration of Independance or the Constitution, but can not handle debate without their poor little feelings getting hurt …you know …contemplating the truth is hard work….

  26. Gerald Gibson says:

Neocon troll with nothing better to do and no ideas.

    Comment by progressive and proud

They have idea ..ONE idea… their alpha male came up with it and they all cackle it out over and over with glazed eyes and no gears cranking on the reasoning of that ONE idea.

  27. ElectricBassPlayer says:

Ben Domanech or whatever his name is knows as little about Communism as he does about evolution or as he does about Christianity.

He’s a brain-dead antagonist, full of his own self-importance, inexplicably allowed to display his breathtaking incompetence to the world. The question is whether there will be any give and take at his site or he will be allowed to spew his politically neo-correct trash without any accountability.

  28. Interesting says:

pitiful way to treat Ben. He is a great guy, but he has conservative ideas so ThinkProgess and other liberals are workin major OT to smear him. Sort of like Sam Alito, Scalia and other brilliant conservatives.

  29. The Brain says:

The Guy is a Plagiarist and has already been caught out, I wouldn’t expect that he keep his “job” long.

The Guy appears to be just another Gannon type shill whom copys and pastes “Articles” together..

  30. TerrytheTurtle says:

#28 – interesting, seems to me that Ben was the one doing the smearing and using his lofty status as Wapo blogging sage to do so…now if we can get Judd or Faiz onto the Wapo as a balancing blogger and they smear one of your heroes, then you can come on here and run your mouth, until then keep your bias to yourself, sonny.

  31. afterthought says:

Seems like the sort of fellow The Post would hire.
Also seems like a characteristic Bush supporter.
In fact, he seems perfect to work in the Bush administration….
Oh, that’s right, he already did!
What’s the problem then? Seems like standard GOP
    criminal sydicate behavior to me.

  32. bushllit says:

all these trolls are plagerists to some degree…they get the talking points and copy and paste them (seemingly at random, probably with their eyes closed)

    Comment by Interesting

He like almost all on the right are weak minded… weak kneed… intellectually inferior… crack pot. If he had any guts or confidence in his own statements he would not hide behind a one way conversation.

I have no fear of having to correct myself when I am proven wrong… because it is not about ME ME ME… it is about truth. I would have no problem arguing with him in public and accepting where I am wrong and reformulating my ideas… HE on the other hand doesn’t believe his own trash enough to back it up by but it up to the light of scrutiny. I went to his RedState and posted serious conversation and it was deleted and my account was canceled. He is a chickin shit… just like his readers who are too sensitive to be questioned and forced to defend their unthoughtout ideas.

  34. Interesting says:

#30 – actually Judd is a great blogger, but truly lost in his ideology. He would do great at Wapo, but they already have a representative from the far left – Milbank. That said, I would trade Judd for that putz any day.

  35. Gerald Gibson says:

#30 – actually Judd is a great blogger, but truly lost in his ideology. He would do great at Wapo, but they already have a representative from the far left – Milbank. That said, I would trade Judd for that putz any day.

Can you stop making accusations and explain what part of his ideology is “lost” and how it is a bad thing and for whom?

  36. Interesting says:

Gerald – I am trying to complement Judd. I firmly disagree with him on policy and would never vote for someone with his ideology, but I like reading him.

I don’t think Bush is a liar – actually, I beleive it’s Democrats who have lied. But I refuse to debate with anyone here. It won’t change anyone’s mind.

  37. progressive and proud says:

Interesting, what do you think about all of the plagiarism that has been discovered and keeps rolling in? Don’t you think that pretty much destroys the idea of him being a “great guy?” And really, don’t you think WaPo should fire him?

  38. Interesting says:

#37 – I don’t think anything has been proven either way. The left has immediately gone into attack mode against Ben and it’s a shame, but to be expected. The left is scared to death of conservatism going mainstream.

I don’t remember hearing anything from liberals when Joe Biden actually admitted to plagerism. And Biden is running for President? My point – the criticism of Ben is partisan at best, smear at worst.

  39. kindness says:

interesting “compliments” Judd by saying he’s a great far left blogger.

dude, that’s like me “complimenting” you by saying you don’t beat your wife “too much”.

We are more liberal than you. WE ARE THE MIDDLE way more than you who represent the rabid fascist apologists of the neocon movement.

I also notice you never commented about the thread’s topic.

    1) Ben called Coretta S K a communist – wholly a lie.

    2) Ben regularly “borrows” other peoples work without attributing it to them. That is defined as plagerism. You do that in any school and you get an F.

  40. Interesting says:

#39 – nothing has been proven. AND if ThinkProgress is offended by plagerism, then they should renounce Joe Biden’s candidacy’s for president, as well.

As for who is more moderate – your comments comparing the right to “rabid fascist apologists” certainly says alot.

  41. David says:

Maybe you must detach “social issues” and right-left concepts. After all, a country is ok if their citizens are ok.

You have touched on a couple key issues, particularly for the right, of American politics. A segment of convervatives that have taken control of the GOP push the “social issues” as a way of getting votes. The puritainical streak is pretty apparent, in that the Republican party, which once did stand for less government intrusion, personal responsibility coupled with personal freedom, now appeals to voters on the basis of returning America to some non-existent past, and using what could be seen as xenophobic and even racist messages, i.e. immigration wrt Central America, the Southern Strategy, militant foreign policy, etc. That the leadership of the self acknowleged “social conservatives” also enthusiasticly supports the austerity measures for the poor, general indifference toward the middle class, and tax cuts for the wealthy offered by “fiscal conservatives” should make one wonder about their sincerity as they proclaim their Christianity.

So, without the “social issues,” they don’t have nearly as much to offer.

  42. progressive and proud says:

#38 Yes it has been proven. Will you answer my questions now? You aren’t going to get the semen you want for proof, but there you have it. So………..

  43. TerrytheTurtle says:

#30 – Milbank – far left? What makes Milbank far left? Is he calling for collective farming and banning private property ownership?

#36 – won’t debate if democrats or Bush has lied – you can’t handle the truth?

#38 – I doubt you’ll find any big fans of Joe ‘Windbag’ Biden on this blog, and since when does every substantiated charge of plagerism have to be mitigated by an unnecessary mea culpa? That’s a straw man – ‘you do it too’ argument. Why don’t you focus on examining Ben whatsit objectively, does plagerism and smearing people as communists add anything to the debate or not?

  44. Interesting says:

#42 – Ben should probably step down. AND he will. But this a witch hunt, plain and simple. AND I am noting this if Joe Biden gets anywhere near the Presidency or is appointed to a cabinet position. The left’s hypocrisy knows no bounds.

  45. David says:

But I refuse to debate with anyone here.

    Then why troll?

  46. David says:

The left’s hypocrisy knows no bounds.

    And troll, and troll…

Of course, everything that comes from the right is never hypocritical, or untrue, is it?

  47. kindness says:

Here’s my take on it. The WaPo should NEVER have hired him for “balance”.

Milbank isn’t a lefty. He’s open to persuasion middle. But your goalposts are such that anything that questions your basic assumptions is “far left”.

No, it is you that’s out of touch with reality interesting. I don’t expect you to admit it or agree, so it’s OK that you disagree with my assessment.

They want ot hire him for a right wing point of view, fine. But really, when you consider the dumb exagerated lies he’s posted in redstate, and his plagerism, they should have hired a respected rightie. Ben isn’t respected outside redstate. & yea, I call a fascist a fascist. bushco is full of ‘em. You are a fascist apologist. Sorry you disagree. Again, I don’t expect you to share my assessment. but you should know what MANY others think about your stated views.

  48. bushllit says:

kindness good luck finding a respected rightie, a prequisite seems to be to selling ones sole to get on the money train

  49. Gerald Gibson says:

I don’t think Bush is a liar – actually, I beleive it’s Democrats who have lied. But I refuse to debate with anyone here. It won’t change anyone’s mind.

    Comment by Interesting

Bush has been caught on TAPE in the STATE OF THE UNION lying and many more times in less important scenarios. It is NOT a matter of DEBATE or OPINION… WHY does the right not get this? It is FACT. It is on VIDEO TAPE. Jesus what more does it take?

  50. progressive and proud says:

Interesting, you keep speaking of Joe Biden. Changing the subject is obvious.

You have now moved forward to the idea of him needing to be let go. You are correct, he should be fired, but you weren’t saying that a minute ago. How is it a witch hunt? There were no witches, there are liars though. So explain how you have chosen to stick to your guns (Bush speak) and continue to call it a witch hunt even though it has been proven that it is not?

On that same note, are you still defending him as a good person who just isn’t smart enough to create his own work? Or is he a victim of the right wing nazis who want to spread their propaganda anyway possible?

  51. progressive and proud says:

Gerald Gibson – classic denial. If these guys admit the pres lied, they will have to start tearing down their house of cards. But that house is so high, if they don’t start tearing it down, it will happen all at once to their destruction. They now have to quickly reconstuct their whole party.

  52. NutWrench says:

    Communists? How CUTE. How 1950s.

  53. TerrytheTurtle says:

#52, why stop at the 1950s, let’s unravel everything back to before the Age of Reason – we can all dress up in black gear, wave our book of fairy tales about and set fire to people we don’t like…

  54. TerrytheTurtle says:

Or move to that Bushevik-created Disneyland of Democracy: Afghanistan

  55. Marie says:

Dana Milbank is an equal opportunity reporter. He will blast the Dems one day and mock the Reps the next. I have seen him to both many times. Sometimes I am cheering, sometimes I am pissed. The rightwing likes to portray him as “liberal” as does one of the editors at WaPo, but he is “liberal” because he doesn’t cheer the Repubs daily.

  56. kindness says:

There are right wingers that I may disagree with on just about every issue, but respect.

Not alot of ‘em. None from this administration.

Maybe they could hold a sayance and bring back Goldwater.

  57. Innocent Bystander says:

Why is it always the side of “morals” and “personal responsibility” that have all the problems with morality and personal responsibility?

Young Ben is just a mirco-example of the inherent inconsistancies and moral contradictions manifested in the movement conservative. Do as I say, not as I do.

  58. Gregor Samsa says:

Don’t be so harsh on Domenech: The mishap could have been likely due to Domenech’s copying and pasting a whole paragraph from someone else’s text without reading it first.

He deeply regrets the other person’s error.

  59. Anon1 says:

    Hey, Ben! You suck!

  60. TerrytheTurtle says:

Dana Milbank – if he’s a rabid crypto-trot, he hides it well here (dissing the Downing Street Memo hearings)
