Blasting those who have called Bush incompetent, Vice President Cheney said today, “If they are competent to fight this war, then I ought to be singing on American Idol.”
He got the invasion he wanted, all $226 billion dollars worth (so far), and he did it by providing the American People and their Congress falsified (or at least false) ‘pre-war intelligence’. Well, that money’s in the bank, and he hasn’t (yet) had to answer for that falsified (or at least false) ‘pre-war intelligence’.
Hardly the definition of “incompetent”; far too successful (and profitable) to be described by that word.
As for illegal wiretaps? I’d use the word “incompetent” if someone had been arrested or made to appear before a Judge in a Court of Law (like the Watergate burglars for example), but no one in this Administration has been arrested for illegal wiretapping, or made to appear in Court before a Judge (either to seek a warrant, or to explain why one hadn’t been sought).
So again, hardly “incompetent”; a better term would be “undefeated” or “untouchable”, or “IMMUNE” even.
Me, I’m not much for taking any joy in hearing the President called “incompetent”, or any other name (you know, the old ’sticks and stones’ thing), I’d rather see him confronted a little more forcefully than that.
Which brings another word to my mind to describe the President and his Administration: “unopposed”.
#8 – If the Bush Cabal getting their way is “competence”, I want none of it. But I understand what you’re saying.
The ReichWingNuts (with Cheney leading the way with todays comment) will never believe that we as a nation were better protected from Osama and al Qaeda when we were led by Bill Clinton. Due to Democrat competetence, Project Bojinka was thwarted, nothing bad happened on New Year Eve 2000, and the Cliton Administration were actively pursuing Mr. bin Laden.
In Washington, Democratic National Committee spokesman Luis Miranda called the criticism of his party an attempt to divert attention from the situation in Iraq, which is torn by violence three years after the U.S.-led invasion.
I disagree. I think Cheney was just making yet another dumb statement with no real rhyme or reason. He’s obviously just fustrated that things aren’t going well at all, so he resorts to attacks. I don’t think he is trying to divert anything.
It’s like how hitler blamed the jews and/or the socialists every time something sucked in Germany – it’s the same reichwing tactics. You could lift and translate the claims of Hitler and Goebbels, and they’d sound identical to the hate Mighty Moron and MizzWrong and the whole Reichwing Republican crew spews.
#17 - You could lift and translate the claims of Hitler and Goebbels, and they’d sound identical to the hate Mighty Moron and MizzWrong and the whole Reichwing Republican crew spews.
ReichWingNut version of history forgets what happened to Hilter’s stooges after the war ended. Either that, or they don’t think it can happen to them. One thing I do know: I’m not sure they’ll want to remain ReichWingNuts after the failures of this Bush Cabal have led to judgement and then punishment.
I dunno. Maybe I’m just getting old. I’m feeling real nostalgic tonight, and kind of missing the good old days. Before all that bullshit talk of “freedom” and “hard work” and “competence.”
You remember. When Bush was off cutting brush on his cowless ranch and Cheney was in the back room of his office making secret deals with the energy companies?
Cheney, Rummy & Bush, that brigade of chicken hawks, couldn’t find bin Laden if he were camping on the White House lawn, and they tripped over his sleelping bag.
I would “like” to see him do a cover of Hanson’s “MMMM Bop” (Snicker). But about his making a “joke” out of almost killing someone, Yeah, YOU have the moral highground here! A sphincter says “WHAT”? Yeah, that’s what I thought.
Here it is nearly 24 hrs. later and there hasn’t been a single Democratic leader to respond in kind. Is this the beginning of a duck and cover campaign? Its blatently obvious to Democratic activists that Cheney has lost his mind, but where the hell is our response in the media?
So how Exactly does an MBA and a Halliburton CEO know how to fight a War?
They Know how to sell it thru ‘Media Advertising’
Rove knows Campaign Style Tricks SO I’m pretty sure he doesn’t know how to fight a WAR given his first Battle was with a Democrat Girl who beat him senseless as a Kid. Tuff Talker that Rove. Kinda Like Bush and Bring it on.

This is just an example of Cheney talkin’ tough with his good ol’ boys at the club. The Dems can fire back and keep it in the news, or they can rise above it, because with his 19% popularity, most people probably know what he is.
A cursory glance at any dictionary would reveal that “snarling” and “strong” are not, in fact, synonyms.
He and Mr. Bush and Mr. Rumsfeld are spending the lives of “other people’s children” as though they were unneeded coins discovered in the bottom of the linty pocket of an unused jacket.
I want him to sing “Shock the Monkey” by Peter Gabriel.
How many Dems shot an old guy in the face?
March 24th, 2006 at 6:41 pmNo no. I want him to sing Christine Lavin’s What Was I Thinking?

He’s anything but.

Incompetent? The Bush cabal? All you have to do is “Connect the Dolts.”
BTW, Dick, you won’t be permitted to bring your shotgun when Simon rips your rendition of “Battle Hymn of the Republic.”
March 25th, 2006 at 9:44 amIf Dick Cheney sang on AMERICAN IDOL (which is, after all, a FOX show), what would pick for him to sing? How about “Shotgun”?
MoDo has some choice things to say about him in her new article (on my site)
March 25th, 2006 at 10:38 amIf singing Dick on American Idol is equivalent to the Fat Lady sings, I’d say go for it.
