Domenech still has a home at RedState.

By Nico Pitney on Mar 24th, 2006 at 4:43 pm

Domenech still has a home at RedState.

RedState’s Clayton: “The left has their blood today. Ben resigned from the WashingtonPost.com. He did not resign from RedState – and even if he tried to do so, we would have refused to accept it. The four Directors of this site, including Ben, had a call earlier today shortly after he spoke with the Post and we’re happy that Ben’s staying right here.” Domenech’s first post-resignation post is here.

let him stay wherever he wants to stay. who the hell gives a crap where he goes. Now, lets see just what wapo will do to punish us all for our disgraceful behavior.

  2. Kenny H. says:

Nice to see the good people at Redstate condoning plagiarism and copyright violation. Accountability and strong morals.

  3. JIMBO says:

That’s right, we, the left have Ben’s blood today. We will take more, and more and more. BLOG POWER!

Shame on you RedState for believing in a lying plagarizing racist son of a bitch.

  4. WC says:

Yeah. I got a taste of their accountability and strong morals last night during my first, and probably last, visit to their site. Did you read the post about the 3 hostages that were released yesterday? The idiots there were saying that they did not deserve to be rescued, a stance that was based on their (the hostages) organization’s political views, especially about the “war.”

  5. catalyst says:

‘the left have had their blood’

    WTF?

has this person lost all sense of morality..or did they have none to begin with?

honesty isn’t left, right, or center.
    its a human RESPONSIBILITY!!

  6. afterthought says:

Well, Ben is a proud member/supporter of the GOP
criminal sydicate in good standing, and will take
his rightful place where he can continue to be hateful
and defend the illegal activities of other members like
Commander Codpiece. Expect Ben to be bitter
and worship his hero even more.
I still think Commander Codpiece will appoint Ben
as a federal judge as incompetents and criminals
seem to fall up in this administration.
Oh, and #1, I am sure WaPo will find a way for
a serious payback for making them look stupid.
This is again GOP criminal syndicate behavior
where it is the person who points out your error
    that gets the payback.
    Loyalty Good, Truth Bad

  7. GSD says:

    Redstate=Home to known plagiarists.

Anyway to “google bomb” that equivalence?

I like the way they try to BLAME the “left” for Ben’s “WorK”

Old BEN got caught and now its all the “Lefties” Fault.
Please Stop your Caterwauling bunch of ‘RED State’ Girlie Men.

  11. Kenny H. says:

#5. I tried to read Redstate today, but the site is so slow I gave up. I guess they don’t know how to run a web site either.

  12. Gregor Samsa says:

In case we had any doubt:

    RedState welcomes dishonest people.

And they are proud of it too.

  13. Andrew C says:

    Their website isn’t working.

    Ha. :)

  14. Styve says:

No wonder RedState seems such a dumbed-down site!! It is geared toward the home-schooled crowd!!

What a joke the GOP is!!

  15. t-mac says:

I was on Redstate moments ado, and I’m convinced. Repugs are a pathetic lott. What a joke!?!

  16. Anon1 says:

I went over to Redstate, and Ben is having the biggest pity party. All excuses and no substance. Sounds like most of his posts. He’s a typical Republican, telling everyone how to live, taking some superior moral high ground, but failing to live up to those same principles. Republicans are not about truth. It’s a concept that’s foreign to them. Ben is no different.

Oh, Ben, the “liberal attack machine” isn’t your problem. Your dishonesty is the problem.

  17. progressive and proud says:

  18. DrSinker says:

Anyone check out Ben’s article at RedState. He rebuts a claim about ripping off a *music* review from Crosswalk in a piece he wrote for NRO. Of course that’s not the right review. He ripped off a *movie* review from Steve Murray of Cox News. It’s clear. Even Rick Moran understands that, and he’s dense as a post.

  19. Styve says:

It is such a riot to see the slower pace and the simplemindedness of the postings on that site!!

    Styve

  20. Zookeeper says:

I read his RedState piece (of sh*t). What a whiner.
Now I’ve got to go scrub my eyes with a wire brush.

  21. kindness says:

That’ll work (maybe) for your eyes zookeeper, but what can I use to keep my brain from rotting from the inside out now?

Well, I guess I could fall back on some of California’s Finest, but I gotta wait to get off work first.

Will I be safe if I wait till 5?

  22. S.D. says:

He is representative of GOP Values, so, I guees is Redstate…

  23. Edward Deevy says:

After reading what Benjei wrote this afternoon at RedState I had one overwhelmning thought: what a clueless arrogant bastard! Someone might have advised him to wait 24 hours and then advised him to come back with a reflective piece that showed respect for the rest of the human race. Maybe that would be asking for the impossible. The problem is that demonizing and hate-mongering seems to be the only skill that these guys have.

    Nuts

Personal responsibility isn’t big with ‘lil Ben.

  27. Zookeeper says:

#22 – Absolutely not, kindness. This is an emergency. Tell them you have to go right now. Damn, I didn’t even think about my rotting brain. Have a nice glass of wine for me! I’ve already got Sharon Cox hugging a nice big cedar for me. Have a great weekend!

redstate welcomes ben back with a sweet song by michael jackson:

Ben, the two of us need look no more
We both found what we were looking for
With a friend to call my own
    I’ll never be alone
And you, my friend, will see
You’ve got a friend in me
(you’ve got a friend in me)

Ben, you’re always running here and there
You feel you’re not wanted anywhere
    If you ever look behind
And don’t like what you find
There’s one thing you should know
You’ve got a place to go
(you’ve got a place to go)

I used to say “I” and “me”
Now it’s “us”, now it’s “we”
I used to say “I” and “me”
Now it’s “us”, now it’s “we”
Ben, most people would turn you away
I don’t listen to a word they say
They don’t see you as I do
I wish they would try to
    I’m sure they’d think again
If they had a friend like Ben
    (a friend) Like Ben
    (like Ben) Like Ben

    heh heh…ben’s a rat too…

  32. Mimi Schaeffer says:

As curious as I may be, no way, no how am I contributing my keyboard click to their Web site.

I had also refused to visit the Red State blog at the Post, if that’s what it is called, too lazy to fact check at this point…

In addition, I refuse to talk about, visit or link to Deborah Howell at the Post.

    Man.

And they actually have the audacity to refer to -other- people as “moonbats.”

    *cuckoo* *cuckoo*

  34. David says:

C’mon, #35, don’t you know that “moonbat” is a technical term?

Only the most refined conversationalist uses such colorful and insightful words.

    Tsk, tsk…

  35. Jack says:

Is Red State a communist site, like Red China or how we thought of Russia?

  36. ElectricBassPlayer says:

#34 and 35. . . that’s why I like trolls. Over there debate is stifled and the result is mediocrity. (Sound like a certain administration we know?)

We aren’t afraid of debate because we win every time. Except for the occasional lapse into inane name-calling — which I guess is the purpose of trolling, because they sure don’t change any minds — we jettison the bullshit and sharpen our focus and facts with each pathetic turd-blossom they dump.

  37. Clif says:

As incompetent and crooked as he is proven to be why can’t Karl find him a slot in the west wing he’d fit in soooo nicely. It seems such a waste of his talents so far…….

    Exactly

  39. burro says:

That’s great. Young Ben is a word and idea thief devoid of scruples and a bald faced lier. If the folks at RedState can’t or won’t acknowledge the alligator they’ve got attached to their dumb asses, well then they all deserve each other.

May Young Ben and RedState have a long corrupt relationship. Write on Ben. The right needs your flights of fancy, and copycat skills.

  40. EconAtheist says:

    ElectricBassPlayer -

    Right on, man. Agreed.

  42. Lily says:

Like a lot of you, I checked out RedState. Reading the posts and comments there almost made me sick.

“People who are poor and black are a drag on society. We would all be better off if there were fewer of them….it is time we recognize that there are more efficient means of eliminating the drag….It just happens that killing black babies has the happy result of reducing crime…It’s too bad about all those dead babies, but it is a kind of solution to the crime problem, if not a final solution.”

But it is a repug tactic …how soon til the Fox gig?

  44. Lily says:

BTW, the author of the post I linked to, Augustine, is Ben Domenech.

  45. Cyra Brown says:

” That story wasn’t worth the paper it was rotten on.”

Quotation credited to Dorothy Parker, who said it better than Ben ever could.

  46. Innocent Bystander says:

“Is Red State a communist site, like Red China or how we thought of Russia?”

Well, they do seem to be advocating a one Party state, they demand ideological purity, and they reactionary. So it is pretty hard to tell the difference.

RedState reminds me a lot of FreeRepublic, except they have a better interface and the people post in full, coherent sentences.

  47. the fly-man says:

This is the bravado of the right that Digby has spoken about. The utter audacity to get caught Red-handed, sorry, and then be coddled by the arrogant family members. I prefer the word Shameless. They can’t make any excuses for the bloated burecracy their party has supported. Shame on them. Now on to agendas! Revive the CCC to rebuild NO. Term limits.I think we should use the term modify not reform, IE: Modify SS, Modify Health care for the poor. Modify the tax code. The GOP has ruined the term reform. Happy Saturday to all, especially those who get to ride a motorcycle. Here is Digby’s take, Primo; Enjoy http://digbysblog.blogspot.com/2006_03_01_digbysblog_archive.html#114134150981950235

  49. ElectricBassPlayer says:

#44. I read that link and it is absolutely bizarre. Could any sentiments be LESS Christian? Could any sentiments be MORE totalitarian? “Poor people are a drag on society.”

Mao or Stalin couldn’t have said it better.

Here’s what I was waiting for, the momentary lapse of reasoning. Those Fools at the WaPo. http://www.humaneventsonline.com/article.php?id=13507. Man talk about an uber -ego. I would lay odds that he will soon be at Fox, or is that just to easy to bet on?

Ben appears to have now decided to reconsider and move on to option 1)
in a post entitled “contrition” at redstate.
Though some of his team over there still make foolish excuses and
blame others, Ben seems to have chosen the path of
accountability. Good for him even if it was not his first instinct and
that the latest from “Flat Hat” and PJ pretty much left him no choice.

  53. Spudge_Boy says:

    fly-man,

    From the Human Events link:

Although Domenech says there is an explanation for nearly all the examples cited by the left-wing bloggers, he felt he was left no choice by washingtonpost.com but to resign.

If there isn’t an explanation for EVERY SINGLE example, then your arguement is as good as Saddam’s.

“I didn’t gas all of the kurds, it was nearly all, but not all. Therefore I am innocent.”

  54. Lily says:

Afterthought, here’s the quote and link from “Contrition”

“I want to apologize to National Review Online, my friends and colleagues here at RedState, and to any others that have been affected over the past few days. I also want to apologize to my previous editors and writers whose work I used inappropriately and without attribution. There is no excuse for this – nor is there an excuse for any obfuscation in my earlier statement.”

  55. Karl Marx says:

From Leon Trotsky to Ralph Reed to Hillary Clinton is a long, torturous road to follow, yet the chameleon-like Wittmann—who styles himself a Bull Moose progressive in the tradition of his hero, Theodore Roosevelt—has navigated it expertly. Wittmann’s new role as Hillary’s unofficial Rasputin is perfectly suited to her current political needs. Eager to overcome her reputation as the leader of the party’s left wing, **Hillary is “repositioning” herself, in modern parlance, as a **“centrist,” i.e. a complete **opportunist. She could have no better teacher than **Wittmann, who from the pulpit of his “Moose-blog,” advises her to “seize the issue of Iranian nukes to draw a line in the sand.” While paying lip service to multilateralism, she should “make it clear that while force is the last resort, she would never take it off the table in dealing with the madmen mullahs and the psychotic leader of Iran.” –JR

  56. Seth Sonderling says:

For those who are as fascinated by the minutiae of the Domenech (how do you pronounce that name, anyway?) case: Regnery doesn’t have to worry about firing him:

“Before the eruption of the plagiarism scandal, Domenech had met with Regnery Publishing senior management who determined that Domenech’s blogging duties interfered with his duties as an editor with Regnery (a sister company to HUMAN EVENTS). Harry Crocker, vice president and executive editor of Regnery, told HUMAN EVENTS that Domenech resigned on Tuesday, March 21. He remained on staff while finishing a few short-term projects.” (from Human Events Online)
