Matthews Rips Bush For Misleading Nation; White House Praises Matthews

wallace

On “Imus In the Morning” earlier today, Chris Matthews ripped into Bush’s handling of Iraq (Watch it here):

Everybody was led to believe that we were getting payback, we were avenging what happened on 9/11 and that we are going to get them. … We pursued the terrorists back to Iraq. And it’s all nonsense. The reason there are terrorists in Iraq today like Zarqawi is we created the opening by blowing the country apart. …

I mean the denial has been continuous. So you really can’t count on the administration to tell you what is going on. That is just the fact. You’ve got to check it out. By the way, the president said this week that he wants the whole truth about what is going on in Iraq, the whole truth and that the media isn’t telling the whole story. I’ll tell you what we are not telling. We are not showing pictures of the twenty five hundred bodies coming back because they won’t let us show the pictures. They don’t want the whole truth out and that’s the fact.

Given Matthews’ stinging salvos against the Bush administration, we were anxious to see how White House Communications Director Nicolle Wallace would respond tonight on Hardball. Here are some highlights of what she said to Matthews:

I think you’re one of the few people who actually expends the time to really explain some of the complex issues.
    …

This was not a choice and you do a good job talking about this, Chris, this was not a choice between leaving a benevolent leader like Saddam Hussein in power or engaging him or removing him.

Either the White House hasn’t been listening closely enough to Matthews or they have no objections to his analysis.

I was shocked actually. I don’t ‘buy’ that Matthews has a fixed ideology – he is does what he needs to keep his ratings/job.

This might have been a touch of reality though. Or it might have been a sop because of all the criticism he’s gotten over his repub leaning ways.

She probably played light with him because they don’t want to get him angered – he could always do a Lou Dobbs:)

She knows about it though from the quote, it seems. She makes it clear that there was no quote and that the war had to happen. Of course now it was about moving Sadaam. There are lots of Sadaams throughout the world – that’s a pathetic justification.

    6. s says:

It’s not that the White House hasn’t been listening, or that they don’t care about his analyisis. It’s that they are trying to woo him back into the fold with cozy, in the club, flattery and schmooz. They want to keep him on their side. If they ever think they’ve truly lost him…then they will attack with an ugliness and inhuman brutality that we’ve come to see this White House is capable of.

    7. Dem02020 says:

Is this transcript for real? I don’t doubt ThinkProgress, I just doubt the guy who’s words have been transcribed.

Anyway, it reads strange to my eyes, these comments which are truly critical of the Administration’s scheme to cash in on the American People’s post-9-11 anger and grief by pitching a $226 billion dollar (and counting) invasion and occupation of Iraq.

Everybody was led to believe that we were getting payback, we were avenging what happened on 9/11 and that we are going to get them. … We pursued the terrorists back to Iraq. And it’s all nonsense.

This certainly does qualify as criticism; it actually gets to the heart of the American People’s ‘disapproval’ of the invasion of Iraq, and by way of that, their ‘disapproval’ of the President.

It’s so true a statement of criticism on the part of an Administration Paid Media Hack, that it startles me; I’m almost incredulous at it.

It’s too early to make much of it; certainly too early to say that this Paid Media Hack, or any other, has ‘jumped ship’; but let’s just think for now that certain Paid Media Hacks will for sure start positioning themselves as ‘Spokespersons for the American People’, once they see this Administration being held accountable for that ‘false pre-war intelligence driven invasion of Iraq’; they’ll eventually ‘jump ship’, and immediately scurry over to the side of the American People (who they otherwise worked so much overtime deceiving)…

The scurrying rats will move swiftly over to the Ranks of the American People, as the tide turns against the Administration; the rats will hold banners (and opinions) proclaiming their support for Truth, Justice, and the American People…

The rats think they have no price at all to pay for their part in the deception of the American People; nothing to do but switch sides in time, is what the rats think…

And the rats such as the Paid Media Hack cited in this item think that no one will remember that they are the ones who aided and abetted the Administration’s deception of the American People…

But I’ll remember; I’ll remind as many as I’m able, when that time comes.

But for now, let’s just take this Paid Media Hack’s true and insightful (although somehow incredible) criticism of the President as a good (but too rare) sign.

    16. TJM says:

Matthews has rightly been labeled Mis-informer of the year by Media Matters and as the fakest man alive by Bob Somerby but on Iraq Matthews has been critical of and against the war since the beginning. He’s no flip-flopper on this issue.

    17. Bowdler says:

Mr. Galt, love the name. I would assume many here have read the book about you. One obvious criticism is about those who want something without earning it(like welfare mothers). One overlooked group is those that use government connections to rob the people that earn money. If you read Rands book carefully she uses her appobation more generously on the former.

Really? Here are some quotes that refute this:
“We’re proud of our president. Americans love having a guy as president, a guy who has a little swagger, who’s physical, who’s not a complicated guy like Clinton or even like Dukakis or Mondale, all those guys, McGovern. They want a guy who’s president. Women like a guy who’s president. Check it out. The women like this war. I think we like having a hero as our president. It’s simple. We’re not like the Brits.” (MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, 5/1/03)

“He [Saddam Hussein] actually thought that he could stop us and win the debate worldwide. But he didn’t–he didn’t bargain on a two- or three week war. I actually thought it would be less than two weeks.”
(NBC reporter Fred Francis, Chris Matthews Show, 4/13/03)

      “We’re all neo-cons now.”
      (MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, 4/9/03)

I’m calling bullshit on this one TJM

    25. TJM says:

Your response quotes have nothing to do with his views on whether the US should have invaded. He has often said things about Bush personally that are fawning compliments but he has been critical of the war.
From The Daily Howler (2/9/06):”He turned on the war in the fall of 2002;from that point on,he has done cable’s most skeptical work on this subject.”
      Bull indeed.

Since Matthews has become the new media darling of the Right, hitting the lecture circuit to speak to a LOT of Conservative groups, I trust him even less than I did before, and that wasn’t very much.Matthews is a good example of the misperception people have about Dems. They aren’t all liberals. He is, in fact, a great example of the phenom previously know as the “Reagan Democrat.” I’m weary of his whorish ways.

You’ve already sold out Ben Franklin and G. Washington, good luck finding the American balls we used to have to dictate our own democratic futures.

Is Chris off his meds for his intellectual bi-polar condition? Somethings up. No way do I think 3 years later he suddenly “gets it”. He knew damn well what was going on and the real agenda of this administration before the invasion. But he clearly supported it….hell, he was a cheerleader for it. He was mislead that ‘Iraqis = 9/11 terrorists”? I find that hard to believe…but he did nothing to expose the lie.

I think it may be a few factors-

      (1) He knows how to read polls -> he’s safe to criticize now.
      (2) He knows that we know he’s a closet Republican
      (3) He doesn’t like the latest RNC ‘blame the media for not reporting the good news’ meme
      (4) He’s starting to wonder if they really are trying to destroy this country.

Time will tell. If he’s back in love with George next week, they’ve adjusted the Lithium dose.

Rats, propaganda mouth pieces, collaborators, merchants of warfare and profiteers of destruction, trying to now blend in with the crowd.

They’ve let the war-for-profit machine loose, led by the death merchants Cheny and Rumsfeld, they voiced their approval for this gang of criminals, only to be verbally punished by it for not talking about ‘the good things happening in Iraq.’

Screw you, Chris Mathews. You suck. The blood of a nation is as much on your hands as the core criminals who engineered this catastrophe. You deserve to experience the suffering of Vietnamese agent orange victims and the depleted uranium Iraqii victims. You have aided in the new World War and Abu Gahraib should be on your itinerary.

    47. Phil Vitale says:

I didn’t finish watching this interview because I was getting sick listening to this spin doctor bitch out of the white house. Normally I can’t stand Matthews (and I’ve been avoiding him of late and yesterday Iwas just sitting down to a beer and wanted to watch something) when he fawns over these kinds of people. But he wasn’t fawning and she was going off on tangents and irrelevancies and Matthews was having a hard time calling her on them. These people from the administration inhabit an entirely different universe. Even if Bush at one time had (or still does have) a twinge of conscience about anything that his administration is doing, these spinmeisters without a doubt have pushed an agenda and continue to do so in such a way that they allow for no doubt. We may actually have a President who is a victim as well as the one of the worst people in the world. We may have Tanya on our hands.

    48. British Gary says:

Nicolle Wallace said to Matthews: This was not a choice…… this was not a choice between leaving a benevolent leader like Saddam Hussein in power or engaging him or removing him”

Not a choice? Not a choice? What happened, did free will just leap out the WH window? Quick, someone call the cops and put out an APB for will. Where is he?

Seriously, seeking to absolve the WH conscience by publicly declaring ‘this was not a choice’ when choices past abound would be irresponsible for an ordinary Joe, but to do so after killing >100,000 men, women, children and babies is pure evil and fascism at it’s worst.

Note Wallace is not even saying, ‘I/We had no choice’ she is talking in terms that avoid ascribing the opinion to any group (WH) or individual (e.g. herself).
The WH and Wallace won’t even take responsibility for absolving themselves of responsibility.

These are the people Chris Matthews supports. Chris Matthews is steeped in human blood along with his fascist Noble Lie idolaters. I choose to support the good people of America to defeat people like Chris Matthews. I write to let him know what people around the world think of him and why.

To Chris Matthews, President George W Bush, VP Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice et al, and trolls: If you are reading this and you supported this war at any time in the past or present, The stench of burning infants should fill your dreams. The screams of burning infants should fill your ears. None of you deserve respite for what you are responsible for. Anyone who states, ‘we were misled’ is a foul coward and liar. Every individual is responsible for their own actions. No-one had a gun at your head, no-one forced you to vote for war or revenge. Sleep well as the world deserts you, warmongers.

    52. Styve says:

#49, British Gary caught something that might be a clue to this whole Matthews as a new man thing… The question of “choice” is thrown out there, and I have read that the GOP is positioning itself for the 2006 elections as the right “choice”… Found it on DailyKos, and it is quite good, by Georgia10… Here is a line…

“The beauty of a choice election, from the GOP’s perspective, is that it is the perfect platform for the type of fear-mongering and lies that worked for the GOP in 2002 and 2004. If you don’t vote Republican, the terrorists win. If you don’t vote Republican, the gays win.”

I wonder if Matthews supposed criticism of BushCo’s mendacity re BushWar is just a set-up for framing the debate in terms of Democrats would have “chosen” to leave a tyrant at the Iraqi helm?! Well, I am more concerned that the American people chooses to oust this corrupt administration, put them all on trial for high crimes and felonies(sic), and send the traitors to jail!!

Hey IRI, you have YET to address this:

“invade their country, kill their leaders and convert the rest to Christianity.”Comment by I-RIGHT-I — March 20, 2006

Sorry to let facts get in the way, but we did invade their country. We did kill their leaders. And we did let them instill ISLAM as their STATE RELIGION. Read the new Iraq Constitution.

But I guess it is ok, in your view, to have a State Religion, so long as it is Christianity. You would have outlawed the beliefs of many of our founding fathers. Washington and Jefferson, to name two, were students of the Enlightenment. Their beliefs were closer to contemporary Paganism than the mainstream Christianity of their day.

If you are the model of what it is to be a Christian, what does that say about Christ’s teachings? Are we to convert everybody into a religion of intolerance, bigotry and hatred? Is that what it means to be a Christian?

Christ did not wish to kill nor incarcerate those who did not choose to follow Him, yet you do. I see no congruence between the message in your posts and the message of The Sermon on the Mount.

You might want to think about the image of Christ you are projecting.

You poor, poor, suckers. The liberal blogosphere has lied to you day after day claiming that Chris Matthews is a Republican stooge. It’s funny, they use Matthews whenever he says something they like, but smear him the rest of the time when he isn’t evoking the pre-approved liberal dogma.

From Matthews’ comments this time, the coverage on Hardball, and the usual substance of his show, you see that he thinks that the Bush administration have lied all along, and generally uses the same exact propaganda ThinkProgress uses on a daily basis.

That you poor fools cannot even see this is quite scary. ThinkProgress and all their allies have got a firm grip on your worldview and you are conditioned and massaged into a fantasy land where Matthews can be both a Republican operative and a Democratic truthteller worthy of full coverage.

When you guys have gotten to the point where you call people who have the view that the Bush administration is dishonest “conservatively biased”, you’ve just reached liberal propaganda nirvana.

What’s next? Are you going to throw every Democrat who doesn’t want to impeach Bush under the bus as “conservatives”? I’m simply counting the days until it happens.

Call me when you guys are done being brainwashed puppies inflicted with a delusional psychosis of immense proportions.

Hey, you guys read anything about the Russians selling out to Saddam, the French providing the CIA intelligence that Saddam had chemical weapons, or that it is now confirmed that bin Laden met with Iraqi officials in Sudan to talk about conducting joint operations against foreign forces? I don’t make policy. If I did every Muslim cleric in Iraq would be dead.

I’m the kind of Christian that won the West with a Bible in one hand and a gun in the other. I know that for me there will be a “come to Jesus” moment and I’ll have to stand in front of Him but that’s my deal, not yours. The fact is I am in no way interested in discussing my deal with someone who denies Christ all together. What’s the point of that? If you actually knew anything about Christianity you’d know Jesus is no namby pamby pacifist. But that’s another story and I reserve it for people who believe that Jesus Christ lives.

I think that Matthews felt the heat from NBC bigwigs, who got a lot of Emails and calls demanding that they challenge Matthews to explain his speaking engagements which appear to violate NBC policy on ethics.
Matthews has been a bit less hardnosed on defending Bush this week, but I don’t expect it to hold. This is just temporary. He LOVES Bush – he may be disappointed once in a while, but he is a Republican who will defend Bush to the end.
Matthews’ brother is running in PA for the house — if Tweety is too fawning to Bush it could backfire on his brother.
Remember just a few days ago, Matthews said how could you not be proud of Bush who admits that this Iraq war might last beyond his presidency!

Herein lies the problem: “Everybody was led to believe that we were getting payback, we were avenging what happened on 9/11 and that we are going to get them.”

Payback!? Avenging!? Get them!? Pure nonsense!

If we, the US, continue to push this theme of “payback” or “avenging”, of which the Bush regime is prone to align their foreign policy, this our “rage for 9/11″, then I’d say we will surely fail on all levels.

It is pure idiocy to peer through the depressive lens of “revenge” and expect any positive outcome for the country or the world.

We have become what we were supposed to be “avenging”. How sad.

    71. DS says:

Chris doesn’t get that everyone wasn’t led to believe anything. A few chose to believe when the facts showed opposite.

Don’t worry — when he takes these stands he always reverts back to being googly-eyed over Bush within a few days. I suspect the other members of the Super Adventure Club (Bush administration) will find Chef (Matthews) this weekend and hit him with the darts to begin his brainwashing again.

He’ll be back to giving Lewinskys to Bush again soon enough.

    72. British Gary says:

#71, thepoetryman, you wrote “Payback!? Avenging!? Get them!? Pure nonsense!”

Are you trying to rewrite history?

It’s far too late for that my friend. Responsibility is a real bitch when you’re responsible for something rotten to the core isn’t it?

It is pure idiocy to peer through the depressive lens of “ignorance” and expect any positive outcome when one country chooses to take revenge on another.

Yes Bowdler, Ms. Rand does use her approbation exclusively for the conservative ideal. When I read the book, I didn’t look at it in terms of left and right, which took some doing. I looked at it in terms of right and wrong.

I picked the moniker because at this point this country needs a hero and I don’t care if he or she is left or right. :)

    74. Seixon says:

      Spudge Boy and Jay Randal,

I marvel at the many times I am called a troll for simply telling you like it is. You go straight for the personal attacks, and don’t evaluate anything I said.

You guys seriously can’t see the fallacy here? That the left-wing blogs use Matthews as their mouthpiece every time he says exactly what they approve of, but if he, gosh, is candid about something that reflects reality, he is boycotted and labeled a conservative.

As I-R-I said, you guys are eating your own. Matthews and Hardball portrays the Bush administration as liars all the time, but that is seemingly not enough when Matthews has the guts to say, for example, that the NSA surveillance program is a political winner for Bush. You see, Matthews is about 500% more honest than any of you, but since you guys are about 1% honest, that isn’t saying a whole lot.

I love how Jay Randal thinks that progressives think for themselves, as if it matters what political ideology you are. All people are susceptible to being brainwashed, progressives, liberals, conservatives, Democrats, Republicans. All of them. The only ones who don’t get brainwashed are those who dare think outside the approved messages each of these sects broadcast.

Jay, do you know anything about me? Why did you call me a Bush lover? Do you assume I am a conservative because I point out to you that you are brainwashed into believing sheer lies meant to keep you shackled up in the liberal parallel universe?

If you knew me, you’d be ashamed of what you are saying.

There are those of us who speak truth to power, and don’t let the ThinkProgresses and DailyKoses and Power Lines and RedStates run our lives or our thoughts. 79. Spudge_Boy says:

Oh and we aren’t using him as a mouth piece. This thread is based on “OMFG, Chris Mathews fially told the truth for once.”

    80. DS says:

    81. Seixon says:

      blogenfreude,

Thanks for proving my point. Keep the personal attacks coming. You only discredit yourself.

      Spudge Boy,

Yes, the thread angle is “OMG Matthews told the truth for once”. However, if you actually took the time to take a look around the liberal blogosphere, that “once” seems to have happened an awful lot.

You also took Matthews’ comments about Bush out of context. He wasn’t saying that he was surprised to find out that Bush was unpopular – he said he was surprised that Bush IS unpopular. Then after that, he goes on and on about how Bush is a liar.

Yeah, keep guzzling the propaganda my friend. Matthews is not a conservative Bush-supporter, and everyone with a brain knows it. People who like and support Bush don’t go around calling him a liar, and run hit-pieces on their show smearing Bush and Cheney as liars, and hyperventilate about Scooter Libby and Karl Rove.

Try not to hurt yourselves finding the truth that is being obscured at ThinkProgress.

    82. Nonneocon says:

This is an old trick the Rethuglicans have used quite successfully…..
Basically, if you see a point or argument that you think you may loose then take control of the argument. Own the argument. Take the opposition side and do so aggressively. Once you have everyone on both sides “amazed” at how “Fair and Balanced” you are that you could actually take a stand against the person or point you otherwise would be in favor of you “own the argument”. Now all you have to do is S-L-O-W-L-Y begin to turn the argument (and your newly won supporters) back around to what you REALLY wanted them to think which is the direct OPPOSITE of what you initially argued in favour of. It’s basic psychology and manipulation. Sociopaths use it all the time which is why I guess it comes naturally to Rethuglicans.

    89. unbelievable says:

Republican wedge politics has always had a particularly nasty edge to it, of course, with heavy racial overtones. (Willie Horton, anyone?) But, to pull a particularly unlikely analogy out of the air, or more aptly out of the suds, the mere fact Schlitz beer used to taste awful didn’t mean that all beer was bad. Similarly, the fact Republicans have used — and continue to use — wedge issue politics to play the race card, while in itself a despicable thing, doesn’t mean there’s something inherently dishonorable about the technique itself. There isn’t.

To the extent that any political party, especially a dominant one like the Democrats were a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, tries to paper over conflicting views within the party, it’s perfectly legitimate for an opposing party to try to rip that paper off.

Politics isn’t supposed to be a tea party.

And that’s a good thing. Because today, the really potent political wedge issues belong to the Democrats; and it’s the Republican governing alliance that’s ripe for the picking apart. So let the fun and games begin.

As everyone knows, there are two major groups within today’s GOP; traditional silk-stocking, pro-business, types, aka “the moneybags,” and social conservatives (Religious Right), aka “the nutcases.” And I’ll let you in on a little secret: Money bag conservatives hate the nutcases. They use them, but they hate them. And the more power the Religious Right collects, the more the silk-stockings despise them.

For the longest time, of course, these business Republicans were perfectly happy to embrace the crazies, as they themselves call them behind their backs, in exchange for all those luscious tax breaks and the like. But the bloom’s off that particular blossom. For one thing, more and more traditional Republicans are starting to talk like — well, sort of like Democrats, on the issue of runaway deficit spending. And many of them are none to happy about all the corruption they see in Washington. But most importantly, their willingness, or at least the willingness of a lot of them, to go along with the Religious Right doesn’t go so far as to actually allow them to enact their agenda.

I guess the Imus appearance came after he made this statement. Quite a change in heart for 3 days. He is obviously off the ’support and praise Bush’ koolaid and on the ‘lets help the GOP back away from Bush this election year’ koolaid. Does this mean the GOP has decided at the highest levels that backing away from Bush is fundamental to keeping their hold on Congress? I think by studying Matthews, we can learn a lot about how the GOP intends to operate this year.

    97. NEOCONVICT says:

Interesting. So MAtthews maybe got the new memo from the Republican leadership: we’re abandoning Bush. Should be interesting to see how THAT power struggle shakes out.

But it’s all just more insanity. Think we can vote the bastards out? Think again. Thanks to the “Help America Vote (Republican) Act.”

But then there’s Clint Curtis. Clint Curtis is mounting a congressional bid in Florida against Tom Feeney. As many of you know, Curtis was the programmer hired by Feeney to write election-stealing software a few years back. Since then, much has happened, including the suspicious death of the Florida Inspector General Raymond Lemme looking into the matter and the total media clampdown of any serious discussion of electronic election manipulation in Florida and across the nation. Curtis, a former Republican, became so disgusted by what he saw that he became a whistleblower. The whole sordid tale is chronicled on http://www.bradblog.com.

Here’s Curtis in his own words:

My name is Clint Curtis. I am running for the U.S. House of Representatives in Florida’s 24th Congressional District. This great district is currently represented by one of the most corrupt politicians in history. Having personally attended closed-door meetings where Tom Feeney spoke candidly about his aspirations of corruption forces me to provide this district with an alternative to this man. I will need your help.

      http://www.clintcurtis.com

Now Curtis is now taking on the VERY well-funded Feeney. He promises to fight for fair elections and to expose electronic vote fraud. He is the ONLY candidate who will take it to the NeoCons on this issue.

Because of his willingness to take on election fraud, I believe Curtis may be the single most important candidate for the progressive community to promote. Please visit his web site and offer to help, donate even $5 if you can spare it, and help spread the word. It’s time to TAKE BACK AMERICA–and Mr. Curtis may be own only chance of overcoming a rigged election system.

He’s a BushCO cheerleader, yet for some reason, sites like ThinkProgress, DailyKos, and Atrios commonly use him to back up their own BS.

Try to think on your own, and don’t let fill up the cup at the Kool-Aid stand at Media Matters.

      arch stanton,

How can you not trust a man who says “I won’t be able to win this war in my presidency; I’m leaving it up to other presidents in the future”?’ Chris Matthews Hardball March 22

You took his statement out of context. He was asking a rhetorical question. He followed up by saying that Bush had moved the goal posts. It seems lost on the brainwashed masses here on ThinkProgress that hosts of TV shows often play devil’s advocate on their show to solicit responses from their guests, just as Matthews did here. If you actually view the entire segment, you clearly see Matthews does not hold this opinion, it was simply a rhetorical device to further a discussion, where he, as I said, stated as fact that Bush had “moved the goal posts”. Doesn’t seem like a Bush-cheerleader to me. Oh well, keep being ignorant of the truth. When you let Media Matters dictate to you what you read and see, you are being bamboozled.

      Jay Randal,

“Always amazes me when somebody tries to claim they support Bush, but are still a moderate > lol. If you back Bush, you have drank the Kool-Aid/Victory Gin, and are NO longer moderate! Intelligence is shown by realizing the Bush Regime is full of crap and 100% pure evil! Seixon: we are NOT brainwashed who oppose Dubya, but those who support him are comatose!”

Uh, where did I claim I support Bush? I didn’t, that’s what you keep saying. I supported the war, but I have not voted for Bush, and that is because I’m not a Republican or a conservative. Here you show exactly who is drinking the Kool-Aid: anyone who supports Bush on anything is automatically a conservative to you. This is what I call the Cult of anti-Bush. Just as you do to Chris Matthews, if anyone says anything that can be misconstrued as to mean that they support Bush on ANYTHING, they are automatically thrown under the bus and labeled a neo-con, Republican, or a conservative.

I guess that makes Jimmy Carter a conservative for agreeing with Bush on the Dubai ports deal. What, you didn’t know about that? Oh, I forgot, that little morsel of truth never made it through the screening process of the liberal blogosphere. They never told you because it would shatter the worldview they have created for all their minions. They could simply not afford to throw Carter under the bus for supporting Bush, because it would undermine the entire propaganda effort. So what to do? Ignore it. Don’t tell your minions about it. Keep them in the dark.

Check it for yourself. DailyKos did not mention a single time that Carter supported Bush on the Dubai ports deal. Not once.

Why do you think that is? Those of us who really are “in the middle” know full well why, but those who keep calling me a troll here are hard-pressed to acknowledge the simple truth.

      Briseadh,

Might I suggest that we all simply refuse to answer or address posts from I-Right-I, Mighty Aphrodite, Seixon and others of thier ilk?

Yes, standard operating procedure. If you can’t defuse what I am saying, personally attack me, label me your enemy, and then ignore me. Whatever keeps you from coming out of the rabbit-hole my friend.

      Ryan Neat,

Thanks for describing yourself and your friends. If you’d like to point out a broken link, incoherent statement, or redefinition of a word from me, go ahead. The problem is that you are projecting your own faults.

      unbelievable,

It seems like you might be the only sane person around here, but that’s still not saying much.

Thanks for the backhanded compliment, but I’m not at all sane : )

Spudge_Boy, please provide some shred of evidence that I support a theocracy, or be proved once again to be a liar and a fraud.

First of all, this is wwallace.

      Second of all:

      White House
      March 7, 2006
Executive Order: Responsibilities of the Department of Homeland Security with Respect to Faith-Based and Community Initiatives

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, and in order to help the Federal Government coordinate a national effort to expand opportunities for faith-based and other community organizations and to strengthen their capacity to better meet America’s social and community needs, it is hereby ordered as follows:

“In God We Trust” was added to our currency in 1957. “One Nation Under God” was added to the Pledge of Allegiance in 1954. You righties are pushing for a theocracy for a long time now.

It is time you found out what your party is really about.

      label me your enemy

      Seixon,

We don’t need to label you the enemy. You ARE the enemy.

    123. Seixon says:

      Spudge Boy,

Of course I’m your enemy. I tell you the truth, and you don’t like to hear it. It doesn’t matter if I probably hold many of the same values as you, because you are a brainwashed puppy unable to break yourself free from the liberal dungeon of propaganda and lies.

When you’re labeling a moderate as your enemy for telling you the truth, you’ve got problems. Unfortunately, the Democratic party has succumbed to this disease, sad, but true. I await the day when the party gets its act together so I can vote for them. In the mean time, I will keep voting Independent/Green to give rise to a new, and hopefully, more honest party.

    124. Briseadh na Faire says:

121, Seixon, I should not have included you with the other two.

      My apologies.

      That’s why you think I’m sane… :)

    127. unspunblog.com » Every Day Gets Nuttier says:

[...] We get ever increasing evidence the President and his advisers were intent on war with Iraq regardless of what evidence supported the invasion of a sovereign country and lied to the American people to achieve their ends. Yet, the process that is to maintain the checks and balances among the three branches of government is broken and it does not seem that anything short of elections this fall will fix the problem and even then there is no guarantee that the elections will be a sort of referendum to demand Congress carry out its oversight functions. As long as the Congress acts as a rubber stamp for the administration there is no oversight. And here is more information if you need it. And yet more. And yet despite all the evidence we have the Senate Intelligence Committee dragging its feet and failing to investigate the true story of how we would up going to war in Iraq. [...]

    128. Matthews Blasts Administration on Iraq :: SOTUblog says:

[...] Chris Matthews was on Imus in the Morning recent. Think Progress has a transcript; Crooks & Liars with the video. [...]
