As usual some Republican is denying a charge against some political hack that he wants to hire for an important job. These guys just don't get it do they. Senator McCain of all people should know you can't make a purse out of a sow's ear as the saying goes. Wake up McCain, there's a thousand morons out there to give you advice, you don't need this fool helping you try to become President.

Besides you are probably going to be consider too old to become President in 08 anyway. But you hurt you chances by associating with losers like this guy. For the life of me I can't understand why Republicans can't seem to avoid scandal. The first thing that came out of McCain's moutlh is the standard denial denial, and he's supportee to be the straight talk guy.

Believe me Senator McCain you need this guy like you need a bad rash. Dump that loser as quick as you can and tell him to go spend more time with his family. I'd think twice before trying to deny the obvious next time too. People will believe a lie some of the time, but most people won't believe it all of the time.

Terry Nelson may carry more baggage than is currently apparent and John might have a pretty embarrassing press conference to explain this;

Did White House Direct Phone Jamming Scheme?

http://www.buzzflash.com/alerts/06/03/ale06035.html

relevant paragraphs for McCain...

The Union Leader today reported that "court records show Ken Mehlman's office received more than 75 telephone calls from now-convicted phone-jam conspirator James Tobin from Sept. 30 to Nov. 22 of that year." At the time, Mehlman--the current RNC Chair--was White House political director. [Union Leader, 3/23/06] This raises the disturbing question of whether Tobin, who worked for the RNC and the NRSC at the time and has since been convicted on two criminal charges for his role in the scheme, discussed the plan with one of the President's most important political strategists.

Today's news also has important implications for other national Republican figures. At the time the phone jamming scheme was devised and implemented, Tobin's supervisor at the RNC was Terry Nelson, who Arizona Republican Senator John McCain recently hired as a senior strategist for his Political Action Committee. This means that McCain may have hired one of the key figures in the phone jamming scheme.

"Each new development in this case raises troubling questions about the extent to which key national Republicans had knowledge of or were involved in a criminal scheme to keep New Hampshire voters from getting to the polls," said Democratic National Committee spokesman Luis Miranda. "The revelation that, in the days leading up to the phone-jamming campaign, Ken Mehlman spoke regularly with a man who has been convicted of criminal charges in this case raises deeply disturbing questions about the Bush White House's commitment to protecting fundamental right of Americans to vote.

McCain Strategist Terry Nelson Supervised James Tobin During NH Phone Jamming Scandal; Tobin Convicted of Federal Telephone Harassment Charges. Tobin worked for the RNC and the NRSC during 2002, and was supervised by RNC Political Director Terry Nelson. On Election Day, a telemarketer hired by the New Hampshire GOP jammed the telephones of five state Democratic and one firefighters union get-out-the-vote phone banks. James Tobin was found guilty in December of federal telephone harassment charges for his role in the scandal. [Manchester Union Leader, 10/20/05; Union Leader, 3/23/06]

Somebody should tell John he should do background checks on people he says he trurts, like Reagan said "trust but VERIFY"

#8: The trolls are dishonest to the core. No character, integrity or honesty.

They lie to themselves, too. They don't WANT to hear or know the truth — a perfect example being the deletion of dissenting opinions at Free Republic, Little Green Footballs, Red State, all of them. Stalin or Mao would have understood the underlying compulsion to censor, but who would have thought that in America we would have a segment of the population who would voluntarily live under the thumb of repression.

McCain is showing his true colors. I am sure there was a back room deal made with him that if he played along the RNC would make sure he was the nominee in 2008.

It's a fairly sure bet that both he and COndi are being groomed for that position. I would lay odds on a McCain-Rice ticket coming from the RNC in a few years, unless they too are caught in a scandal like every other republican seems to be.

How can McCain defend Nelson saying “none of the charges were true” if he later admits "I’ve never heard of them before.”? Irony off.

Gee, I seem to recall Arlen Specter saying much the same thing about that aid whose husband was a lobbyist whose clients benefitted from some of Specter's votes.

"I've never heard of that before."

"I'll look into it."

John McCain, a trojan horse disguised as a maverick.

A bigger phony baloney you will not find. Avoid this man and his fundamental lack of ethics like the plague.

McCain's hiring of Nelson completed the transformation of John McCain from GOP maverick to Republican prostitute. In his no-holds barred pursuit of the 2008 Republican presidential nomination, the Arizona Senator has exchanged his seething hatred of George W. Bush for a fawning courtship and high-profile bootlicking of the Bush political machine.

#7 What is unsettling to me is that trolls like IRI and MA are so hateful, so resistant to different ideas, and so uncompromising that they won't even consider another viewpoint. They distort facts and believe lies in order to support their opinions.

Marie,

If you will remember, Al Gore, a Democrat "invented the Internet" as far as these people are concerned. I'll bet they don't use the Internet or understand the wealth of information that can be found on it.

Look at how many trolls there are: 3, maybe 4.

Is this why the Republicans are so against technology and education?

They want to keep people stupid.

But, only make themselves look stupid on things like this.

I jsut clicked on and saw that you have already said what I was going to say.
McCain's response to this is lame.
Everything is political to him - his honor has been sold - he has made a deal with the devil.

I jsut clicked on and saw that you have already said what I was going to say.
McCain’s response to this is lame.
Everything is political to him – his honor has been sold – he has made a deal with the devil.

Very nice quotes KnightErrant.
Also good analysis of McCain. I think Rove
will still throw him under the bus for Jeb, or Frist,
or some other creep, but any way that deal goes
we MUST elect a democratic candidate or we
will no longer live in a democracy.

McCain faced the decision - He could and honest, straight-shooter and never rise above senator, or sell out his soul and his honor for a chance at the Big Job. He rejected Henry Clay and chose Faust.

I'd rather be right than be president. ~ Henry Clay (1777-1852)

While man's desires and aspirations stir, He can not choose but err. ~ Faust (Goethe)

We all know what McCain is really about at this point don't we?
He never stands up when it matters and is a Bush brown-noser
otherwise. We really don't need any more people like this.

John McCain researched Terry Nelson the way the Washington Post researched Ben Domenech.

Didn't even bother with a Google search.
