ThinkFast: March 30, 2006

The administration appears to be taking “measures in Iraq that would wreck its most cherished goal there: democracy.” Prime Minister Ibrahim Jaafari said Bush’s latest efforts cause “concern among the Iraqi people that the democratic process is being threatened.”

The UK Independent presents examples of the Lincoln Group’s propaganda work in Iraq, which one military specialist described as “comical.” One exaggerated headline: ‘IRAQI ARMY DEFEATS TERRORISM.’

The nation’s capital is still not prepared to deal with a terrorist attack.

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) introduced a bill yesterday that would put lawsuits challenging the National Security Agency’s domestic surveillance program on a fast track to the Supreme Court.

Senate Judiciary Chairman Arlen Specter (R-PA) “left open the possibility” yesterday that Sen. Russ Feingold’s (D-WI) resolution to censure Bush over his warrantless domestic spying program “could get its day before the full Senate.” Specter “suggested it could be brought to the floor under a rare procedural move.”

Josh Bolten’s first act as chief of staff may be trying to convince Bush to replace Treasury Secretary John Snow “with someone who can more forcefully communicate the administration’s message that the economy is strong.”

Despite spending “money like Paris Hilton at a shoe sale,” the Pentagon’s Defense Logistics Agency investigates itself…and finds nothing wrong. Congress ordered the investigation after Knight-Ridder uncovered overspending in the agency’s purchasing system, spending $20 for plastic ice cube trays that previously had cost 89 cents.

House budget writers saw the writing on the wall yesterday and “dropped President Bush’s proposed cuts to hospitals and other Medicare providers,” while keeping other spending cuts.

Bush rejected increasing calls for him to take tough actions against Russia prior to the upcoming G-8 meeting. He said he needed a personal relationship with President Vladimir Putin so he could walk into a room with him and have him “not throw me out.”

And finally: Make your own Chevy Tahoe commercial. And check this one out.

What did we miss? Let us know in the comments section.

    Sweet! Thanks Iraqi Army!

We’ll go ahead and bring all of our troops home now, get rid of funding for the Homeland Security department, and make it illegal for Bush to use the words ‘terra-ism’ and ‘terrasts’ in speaches.

  2. Culture of Disruption says:

Democratic Rep. Cynthia McKinney PUNCHED a cop.

  3. Mash says:

I’m never the first!!!. Bush blames Saddam and ends up blaming himself. Here’s my reasoning why. Let me know if you agree.

  4. Culture of Disruption says:

Democratic Rep. Cynthia McKinney PUNCHED a cop.

PUNCHED A COP. PUNCHED A COP.

  5. Andy says:

Cynthia McKinney’s a wacko, not a typical democrat.

  6. Culture of Disruption says:

  7. Subway Serenade says:

To reiterate, and we really need to see what has happened. When BushCo stole the election in 2000, the coup couldn’t be complete as long as Sandra Day O’Connor was on the bench. It just wouldn’t have passed the legitimacy of the Judiciary.

Now that Alito is on the bench, the Supreme Court has a majority that will uphold Unitary Authority in time of war. Bush himself has declared that this particular war is “without end.”

Now we have a Congressional Election looming on the horizon with the real possibility of both houses changing hands. Everyone here knows deep inside the level of high crimes of this administration, and their collaborators in Congress. You also know that if Congress changes hands, Democrats will get to the bottom of these crimes. Some of which may be Capital offenses.

So, one of two things has to happen before the elections (or at least before the seating og the next Congress): Either as Grover Norquist says, bin Laden will be captured on or about Halloween, or something equally compelling as good news. Or BushCo finds some lame pretext for declaring Martial Law.

Either way I seriously doubt if they will leave their fate to the whim of a bunch of rigged voting machines, or voter supression efforts. So keep this in mind as we head down this dark path. Take care of each other.

  8. Culture of Disruption says:

#7 – actually, we are hoping to replace Ginsburg and Stevens too. Ginsburg is very ill and Stevens is rumored to want to be off the bench this summer. IN other words, you’re f*ked.

Democratic Rep. Cynthia McKinney PUNCHED a cop.

    Comment by Culture of Disruption

Republican Rep. Randy “Duke” Cunningham pleaded guilty to tax evasion and accepting bribes.

Delaware’s Republican Attorney General Jane Brady helped MBNA Bank of Wilmington skirt campaign finance laws.

Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff sentenced to 5+ years. Faces more charges, still.

Republican Michael Scanlon, former chief of staff to Tom DeLay indicted Nov. 18, 2005 for conspiracy to defraud Indian tribes. Pleaded guilty Nov. 21.

Republican Lewis “Scooter” Libby, Vice President’s Chief of Staff indicted on 5 counts: Obstruction of justice, making false statements and perjury

Republican Vice President Dick Cheney investigated for criminal conspiracy in divulging the identity of covert CIA agent.

Republican Rep. Tom DeLay indicted by Travis County District Attorney for 1 count of criminal conspiracy and 2 counts of money laundering. Arrested and booked at Harris County jail October 20, 2005.

    And many, many, many more…

#4, your story is out of context, but let’s say she did. Bushgang has KILLED thousands, but you should go to D.C. and PUNCH HER BACK.

  11. Preznit Pinhead says:

Preznit “coked-up frat boy” Bush started a war based on lies. Tens of thousands are dead and seriously injured because of it. We’re out hundreds of billions of dollars and Halliburton is that much richer.

But Cynthia McKinney punched a cop.

Gee, I just can’t decide which is a bigger deal.

  12. Lora says:

#5 – then call on her to resign.

DEMOCRATS support people who PUNCH cops.

    Comment by Culture of Disruption

    To Culture of Corruption,
I assume you are actually Gary Rupert who already posted the same stuff about Cynthia McKinney several times on another post.
Since you are asking us to call on her to resign, maybe you first should tell us if you ever asked Tom Delay or Randy Cunningham, for starters, to resign. And if you are Gary R., my memory is that you once promised to stick some kind of weapon up your buttocks and shoot it if there are any indictments in the Abramoff case. Did you keep your promise?
And incidentally, I don’t support McKinney, and she doesn’t represent my voting district in any case.

  13. hotfroggy+ says:

it doesn’t matter if bush hires steven segal to clean house! his croonies are certified crooks and liars! surrounding your self with a “positive message maker” means theres more bull shit to come! god forgive me if i ever voted retardican! won’t happen again, i promise!

  14. elcanuckistani says:

Hey number 9. At least no one got a blow job. Now that could bring down that government.Fugetabatit. No self respecting hooker would blow one of these guys.

  15. Culture of Disruption says:

The Iraq war was not based on lies unless you are willing to admit that Democrats are liars, too. Compelling argument, I must admit.

I am sure if Rep. Katherine Harris punched a cop, it would be no big deal to you people. You fascists are scary. As long as you are liberal, you can do whatever you want.

McKinney is a Democrat and hates COPS. Nice theme for the 2006 eleciton in GA.

  16. Cyra Brown says:

I must admit,Bush saying that he needs a good relationship with Putin, in hopes of not getting thrown out, as he put it, was actually funny. But that Putin would have cause to give him the boot in the first place just highlights the mess GWB has made of everything he has touched. It is so dang embarassing, having HIM as the President, cause he sucks SO BAD at it.

  17. Preznit Pinhead says:

It’s funny, I seem to remember that it was the bush misadministration leading the charge to get the inspectors out so they could plunge their war hard-on into Iraq. And just so’s you know, I’m as pissed at the democrats who have enabled this war-mongering, resource squandering, death-dealing shitpile of an administration as I am at the violent, greedy, chickenhawk bastards who are profiting from this war.

  18. Krazny says:

I have a feeling that the republicans in desperation are going to cling to this McKinney thing, like a fly on shit.

If I understand the logic, not a peep about our soldiers not getting the equipment they need, not a peep about Delay, Abramoff etc, not a peep about torture, warrantless wiretapping, or DickCheney shooting his friend in the face. But hey a dem hit a cop we need to talk about that.

This dog ain’t going to hunt with the public cod(piece). There a little more concerned about the economy, the Iraq war, and the dirty deals in congress, then a non-story about McKinney.

  19. Bob says:

    #15,

Anyone–Republican or Democrat–who touted bad intelligence during the lead-up to war was wrong. W-R-O-N-G, wrong. I’m honest enough to say that, but I doubt that you are.

  20. Cyra Brown says:

COD- GWB hit a cop with his bike! And did some serious damage to the cop too! The cop was unable to work for almost 4 MONTHS! GWB RAN INTO A COP ON HIS BIKE, AND HURT HIM PRETTY BAD!!! GWB must hate cops too, huh?

  21. Culture of Disruption says:

Kranzy – the economy is good so it’s not really an issue.

Americans have alot of doubts about Bush and the war. But they are not going to trade him for a bunch of anti-American, radical hatemongers like you people. It will NEVER happen. Liberalism is dead and your hatred has helped make that happen. Remember that when the senate votes on John Paul Stevens replacement later this year.

  22. bobcat_grad says:

The Iraq war was not based on lies unless you are willing to admit that Democrats are liars, too. Compelling argument, I must admit.

I’m sorry, COD, then what was the Iraq war based on? Can you tell me why we’re there?

I am sure if Rep. Katherine Harris punched a cop, it would be no big deal to you people.

No, it would be. But we’re more concerned with long term corruption, scandal, and lies than you seem to be. By the way:

Repubican Rep. Katherine Harris, US Senate candidate probed for campaign donations from MZM, Inc. (related to Duke Cunningham probe).

    You fascists are scary.

You have your insults wrong. Republicans are closer to fascists. If you are going to insult us, at least get it right. It’s Communists or Socialists. Or moonbats. That one’s just fun to say.

As long as you are liberal, you can do whatever you want.

As long as you are Republican, you can do whatever you want. And not get prosecuted or removed from office.

McKinney is a Democrat and hates COPS.

    Hey, lemme try your logic….

Dick Cheney is a Republican and hates LAWYERS. After all, he shot one. IN THE FACE.

  23. Kenny H. says:

#2: Vice President Dick Cheney shot a man IN THE FACE. IN THE FACE.
First Lady Laura Bush ran a stop sign and KILLED HER BOYFRIEND. KILLED HER BOYFRIEND.

  24. Kenny H. says:

#21… “the economy is good so it’s not really an issue.”

Bwaaahahahaha! Looks like the majority of American citizens disagree. Of course, you’re a Republican so, by definition, you don’t care about Americans.

  25. Bob says:

    #18,

One conservative blogger I read was screaming and yelling that McKinney had “gone to jail.” Well, as it turns out, no charges were filed.

You’re right, though. These people are desparate, and they’ll latch on to anything that they think will take the public’s mind off the fact that the war in Iraq is a complete disaster.

  26. Subway Serenade says:

#8 -Not f*ck’d at all. History is replete with tyrants. It would have been better if we had awakened t the danger sooner, but the result will be the same. The America People do not suffer tyrants lightly. The day will come shortly when the conservative mythos melts away under the simple light of reality.

There must be 50 Ways To Dump The Dubya

  27. DeLabarre says:

So, let’s recap here. CoD posts an unsubstantiated criminal accusation about a Democratic congresswoman, then denounces us all as “fascists” because we’re not (in his opinion) sufficiently outraged about something that may or may not have happened involving a representative that (probably) none of us ever voted for, and which should be properly handled through the legal system (if it happened). And which isn’t on topic for this post in any event.

  28. Bob says:

    Remember, folks–IOKIYAR!!

  29. Democrat Soldier says:

All Democrats have to do is point to the ballooning deficit and massive debt that “borrow and spend” Pres. Bush has ushered since his inception.

This blows away the so-called “fiscal conservative” plank the Republicans have claimed to be the bedrock of the Republican agenda.

Republicans hate fiscal responsibility! Republicans hate fiscal responsibility! Republicans hate fiscal responsibility! Republicans hate fiscal responsibility!

By the way, the only reason that Rep. McKinney “punching a cop” has become an issue is the Republicans are trying to get the national attention off the corruption in which the Republicans have become mired. Good try, but no sale. Go back and try to find a REAL argument to distract from the entrenched Republican corruption, like War with Iran or something.

  30. Bob says:

    #27,

It’s all these people have. They’re hanging on to the thinnest thread right now.

  31. Jay Randal says:

LOL I knew the Repubs on here would bash McKinny and spin the silly incident into a bigger crock of dung!

  32. bobcat_grad says:

Americans have alot of doubts about Bush and the war.

    Boy, do they ever.

But they are not going to trade him for a bunch of anti-American, radical hatemongers like you people.

I’m sorry. How are we hatemongers? I would think hatemongers would say such hateful things as:

“Fuck the jews. They don’t vote for us anyway.”
–James Baker to George Bush Sr in 1992

“When you see a blonde with great tits and a great ass,
you say to yourself, ‘Hey, she must be stupid or must
have nothing else to offer’, which maybe is the case
    many times.”
    Arnold Schwarzenegger
    July, 2003 Esquire Magazine Interview)

“I don’t know that atheists should be considered
citizens, nor should they be considered patriots.
This is one nation under God.”– George Bush

“Feminism encourages women to leave their husbands,
kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism,
    and become lesbians.”
    –Pat Robertson

“Many of those people involved with Adolph Hitler
were Satanists, many of them were homosexuals–
the two things seem to go together.”
    –Pat Robertson,

Liberalism is dead and your hatred has helped make that happen.

Yup, that explains why more people align themselves with Democrats than they do Republicans now.

  33. Democrat Soldier says:

#27 – Can you say “desperate to change the subject from Republican corruption”???

I agree with you. This type of behavior is typical when ultra-radical right wing-nuts have no substantial arguments to make.

  34. Culture of Disruption says:

Jay – how does it feel knowing that the GOP controls the House, the Senate, the White House and the Supreme Court? Not gonna change anytmime soon.

  35. Preznit Pinhead says:

So COD says liberalism is dead. I guess it’s a good time to post the following tribute to liberalism.

Day in the Life of Joe Middle-Class Republican

Joe gets up at 6:00am to prepare his morning coffee. He fills his pot full of good clean drinking water because some liberal fought for minimum water quality standards. He takes his daily medication with his first swallow of coffee. His medications are safe to take because some liberal fought to insure their safety and work as advertised.

All but $10.00 of his medications are paid for by his employers medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance, now Joe gets it too. He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs this day. Joe’s bacon is safe to eat because some liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry.

Joe takes his morning shower reaching for his shampoo; His bottle is properly labeled with every ingredient and the amount of its contents because some liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained. Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some tree hugging liberal fought for laws to stop industries from polluting our air. He walks to the subway station for his government subsidized ride to work; it saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees. You see, some liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.

Joe begins his work day; he has a good job with excellent pay, medicals benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joe’s employer pays these standards because Joe’s employer doesn’t want his employees to call the union. If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed he’ll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some liberal didn’t think he should loose his home because of his temporary misfortune.

Its noon time, Joe needs to make a Bank Deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe’s deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some liberal wanted to protect Joe’s money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the depression.

Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae underwritten Mortgage and his below market federal student loan because some stupid liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his life-time.

Joe is home from work, he plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive to dads; his car is among the safest in the world because some liberal fought for car safety standards. He arrives at his boyhood home. He was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers Home Administration because bankers didn’t want to make rural loans. The house didn’t have electric until some big government liberal stuck his nose where it didn’t belong and demanded rural electrification. (Those rural Republican’s would still be sitting in the dark)

He is happy to see his dad who is now retired. His dad lives on Social Security and his union pension because some liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn’t have to. After his visit with dad he gets back in his car for the ride home.
He turns on a radio talk show, the host’s keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. (He doesn’t tell Joe that his beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day) Joe agrees, “We don’t need those big government liberals ruining our lives; after all, I’m a self made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have”.

saw on blog-world yesterday the saudis are working with pakistan to obtain nuclear, or nooookulear power! wonder how the the bushcorporatiomilitary goons are gonna respond to this! wonder if the msm will pick the story up or is it gonna be squased at the highest level!? can’t wait to see the fall out! hey karl, what ya gonna do?

  37. Democrat Soldier says:

    #32 – It’s amazing how much you and I think alike! And that’s a GOOD thing! ;-)

Good points, buy the way. I love it when the desperate wing-nuts throw out false labels for progressives like “hate mongers” or “intolerant partisans”. It’s like they take the descriptions of their own party and try to place them on their opponents.

  38. bobcat_grad says:

    Hey, Preznit -

Thanks for the story in #35. I copied it and will send it off to my friends who tell me they’re Republican but can’t tell me why.

  39. Democrat Soldier says:

#34 – How does it feel to know that you’re going to lose Republican seats in both the house and senate this coming mid-term elections?

The Republican hegemony will be vastly reduced in eight months. I’m sure you’ll blame it on someone else. Can’t take responsibility for your own failures, can you?

  40. Jay Randal says:

Post 34 a government that becomes corrupt and then rigs elections to stay in power is doomed, because the people are forced to overthrow it! Look at what is happening in France > the citizenry has taken to the streets to force the removal of Chirac for being a pompous ass!

  41. Preznit Pinhead says:

  42. Culture of Disruption says:

Yes, Jay. Conservatives warned you about Chirac, but you didn’t listen. We will use Kerry’s word praising the fascist Frenchman for a long time to come.

Elections are rigged in the sense that Democrats run on a platform of hate and lose all the time.

  43. Bob says:

Ah, yes. The great lie–spread by right-wingers who’ve never been to France–that Chirac is some sort of leftist. Chirac’s ruling party, the UMP, is conservative, and it’s about as unpopular now as it’s ever been.

  44. bobcat_grad says:

    #42

    Hey, COD:

fas·cism ( P ) Pronunciation Key (fshzm) n. A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.

That sounds like the GOP to me. Sooooo… once again, get your insults right.

Oh, and exactly how do Dems run on the platform of hate? Please review my quotes from Republicans in #32. Those are hateful.

I don’t get it. Liberals are made fun of by conservatives because we want to help those who can’t help themselves. We want to give everyone a chance. We want to stand up for the little guy.

Then they call us hateful. Besides some Republican policies, what do we hate?

  45. Jay Randal says:

Post 42 Chirac and Bush are pals now, but I guess you did not notice?! Anyways the French intend to force him out of power, so keep an eye on the news in France > they are showing us how to take down the Bush Regime, if the Congress refuses to impeach him?!

  46. Democrat Soldier says:

#42 – “Elections are rigged in the sense that Democrats run on a platform of hate and lose all the time.”

You mean like Pres. Clinton riding to the presidency on the “hate” people felt for Democrats?

Or are you talking about the House and the majority party:
Like in 1875 when the Democrats became the majority party after 16 years of Republican majority?

Like in 1883 when the Democrats became the majority party after 2 years of Republican majority?

Like in 1891 when the Democrats became the majority party after 2 years of Republican majority?

Like in 1911 when the Democrats became the majority party after 16 years of Republican majority?

Like in 1933 when the Democrats became the majority party after 16 years of Republican majority?

Like in 1949 when the Democrats became the majority party after 2 years of Republican majority?

Like in 1955 when the Democrats became the majority party after 2 years of Republican majority?

Or were you talking about the Senate and the majority party:

Like in 1879 when the Democrats became the majority party after 18 years of Republican majority?

Like in 1893 when the Democrats became the majority party after 12 years of Republican majority?

Like in 1913 when the Democrats became the majority party after 18 years of Republican majority?

Like in 1933 when the Democrats became the majority party after 14 years of Republican majority?

Like in 1949 when the Democrats became the majority party after 2 years of Republican majority?

Like in 1955 when the Democrats became the majority party after 2 years of Republican majority?

Like in 1987 when the Democrats became the majority party after 6 years of Republican majority?

I think you’re projecting the “hate” that Republicans run on in every election onto your opponents. Also, don’t think your party has a lock on the majority. NO party has a lock on the majority party. History has proven that over and over again.

  47. squegeeboo says:

#44 Yah, way to copy and paste, sounds like something a Communist or Socialist would do, or maybe even a moonbat. Included that one beacause it’s just fun to say.

  48. Democrat Soldier says:

#47 – Right, like you’ve never copied&pasted anything in your life.

Get real, man. You’ll copy and paste any argument or post if you think it’ll support your argument in less than a heartbeat.

I think you’re just upset because “Bobcat_Grad” was right.

  49. squegeeboo says:

#48 Mine was actually a paraphrase from one of Bobcat’s higher, it was meant to be a joke.

On the plus side, if he was right, then at least he wasn’t left for a change.

  50. Bob says:

    #46,

Conservatives like to think that the Republican reign will last forever, just as the Tudors, the Stuarts, and the Hanoverians did, and they’re implementing policy as if this was the case.

Well, I honestly hope they realize that every power they want to grant Bush transfers over to a Democratic administration.

  51. squegeeboo says:

#50 Bob, we don’t want it to last for ever, just the next 1000 years.

  52. Sharon Cox says:

Good Morning America, how are Ya.??????Recieved this from a friend in N.H. I did not write it, only copying for all to see..Maybe you all have seen it already.. Interesting and painfuly true….

The 23Qualm (Written by a retired Methodist minister.)

Bush is my shepherd; I dwell in want.
He maketh logs to be cut down in national forests.
He leadeth trucks into the still wilderness.
    He restoreth my fears.
He leadeth me to the paths of international disgrace for his ego’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the velley of pollution and war, I will find no exit, for thou art in office.
Thy tax cuts for the rich and thy media control, they discomfort me.
Thou preparest an agenda of deception in the presence of thy religion.
Thou anointest my head with foreign oil.
    My health insurance runneth out.
Surely megalomania and false patriotism shall follow me all the days of thy term, and jobless child shall dwell in my basement forever and ever. Amen

    Enthusiasm is contagious…Be a carrier…

  53. Democrat Soldier says:

    #49 – Ahh, point to you. ;-)

By the way, I did like your “joke” about left/right. Then again, considering my poolitical affiliation, I much preffer this one:

    “The ‘right’ isn’t.”

#50 – As much as I believe it would be poetic justice for the excessive powers being granted to/taken by Pres. Bush to go to a Democratic president, I disagree.

NO president should be given carte blanche in the manner that Pres. Bush has. It’s against the constitution, and it just aint right.

  54. Culture of Disruption says:

Bob – you are the censors. Anyone who says anything good about Bush is liar, a fascist, Hitler, the list is endless.

AND you would stunt growth by raising taxes and taking away people’s right to choose their own economic freedom. That might actually be the commie in you, too.

  55. Bob says:

    #51,

So did Hitler. His Tausendjähriges Reich only lasted 12.

  56. pgw says:

He said he needed a personal relationship with President Vladimir Putin so he could walk into a room with him and have him “not throw me out.”

    nice backbone, chief.
someone alert j-pod, this sounds like it could be more stockholm syndrome.

  57. Democrat Soldier says:

#54 – Actually, it’s Pres. Bush that wants to place our future generations “in hock” to the massive debt he’s failing to pay for by avoiding a rational tax structure on the richest people and corporations in the world. it’s the Republicans who have become the “fiscally irresponsible” party of the new millennium.

Choosing economic freedom would be to eliminate the “hydraulic despotism” that OPEC holds over our country. Economic freedom would be like Pres. Reagan rolling back his tax-cuts when he saw how large his deficits COULD have been had he kept up with the “borrow and spend” policies he began with in the early 80’s.

Economic freedom comes from paying your debts before you start spending like a crack-whore on a three-day high. Republicanism means never having to apologize to your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren for making their lives hell with the debt that Pres. Bush is racking up faster than Rush Limbaugh popping oxycontin pills.

  58. Culture of Disruption says:

Bob – if people like you were in power back in the 30’s, Hitler would have never been ousted from power. He didn’t attack us – it was the Japanese, remember?

You Stalinist sympathizers are a shameful lot. Hang your head in shame for comparing our President to Hitler.

  59. Bob says:

    #54,

Let’s get a couple of things straight, CoD. First, I personally have never called anyone who supports Bush a liar, a fascist, or anything like that. I think that anyone who, after almost 6 years, is able to find anything good to say about Bush is delusional, but that’s another issue.

    Seven Months After Katrina:
Sleeping in Your Car in Front of Your Trailer in Front of Your Devastated Home,
Tales of Lunacy and Hope from New Orleans

    By Bill Quigley
    t r u t h o u t | Perspective
    Thursday 30 March 2006
    Excerpt:
In New Orleans, seven months after Katrina, senior citizens are living in their cars. WWL-TV introduced us to Korean War veteran Paul Morris, 74, and his wife Yvonne, 66. They have been sleeping in their 2 door sedan since January. They have been waiting that long for FEMA contractors to unlock the 240 square foot trailer in their yard and connect the power so they can sleep inside it in front of their devastated home.
This tale of lunacy does not begin to stop there. Their 240 square foot trailer may well cost more than their house. While FEMA flat out refuses to say how much the government is paying for trailers, reliable estimates by the New York Times and others place the cost at over $60,000 each.
How could these tiny FEMA trailers cost so much? Follow the money.
Circle B Enterprises of Georgia was awarded $287 million in contracts by FEMA for temporary housing. At the time, that was the seventh highest award of Katrina money in the country. According to the Washington Post, Circle B was not even being licensed to build homes in its own state of Georgia and filed for bankruptcy in 2003. The company does not even have a web site.
Here is how it works. The original contractor takes his cut and subcontracts out the work of constructing the trailer to other companies. Once it is built, they subcontract out the transporting the trailers to yet other companies, which pay drivers, gas, insurance and mileage. They then subcontract out the hookups of the trailers to other companies and keep taking cuts for their services. Usually none of the people who make the money are local workers.
With $60,000, many people could adequately repair their homes. Why not just give the $60,000 directly to the elderly couple and let them fix up their home? Ask Congress. FEMA is not allowed to give grants of that much. Money for fixing up homes comes from somewhere else and people are still waiting for that to arrive. While many corporations are making big money off of Katrina, Mr. and Mrs. Morris wait in their car.

    #58,

Hey, sorry, but it was squeegieboo who made the allusion to the Republican reign of a thousand years.

And as for drawing connections with Hitler, please remind me again who coined the term “femi-nazi” and why that’s OK.

  62. bobcat_grad says:

AND you would stunt growth by raising taxes and taking away people’s right to choose their own economic freedom. That might actually be the commie in you, too.

Hey! Good job! You got the insult correct. Here’s your cookies. Sorry it has blue frosting on it.

Yes. We would like to raise taxes. On the uber rich that Bush has cut the taxes on.

Why? Because we don’t like $9,000,000,000,000 in debt. You know what debt is, right? It’s money that you don’t have but you spent it anyway. When Bush does it, Republicans hail it as strengthening a strong economy.

The rest of civilization calls it bankrupt.

#58. CoD. You are a fool.

If you can read one book about WW2, you will learn that the Nazis attacked American shipping from 1939 onwards. Merchantmen and warships, with considerable loss of life. The Nazis declared war on us, remember?

There were Liberal Democrats in power in the ’30s and ’40s. It may well have been different had Conservative Republicans been in charge. They loved to call it “Mr. Roosevelt’s War.”

  67. squegeeboo says:

#55 No way, Hitler said that too? I had no idea :) And if he had 12 years, that gives us one more president.

  68. Democrat Soldier says:

#64 – “Republican foreign policy from the time of Theodore Roosevelt has emphasized robust defense of American interests within an international balance of power rather than “making the world safe for democracy.” It was thus not so much isolationist as unilateralist, in contrast to the Democrats’ Wilsonian universalism.

The Great Depression brought an end to the era of Republican dominance, as Herbert Hoover was overwhelmed by Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1932. After supporting the Roosevelt administration’s initial emergency measures, the Republicans became unremittingly hostile toward the New Deal. As a result the Republican presidential candidate in 1936, Alfred M. Landon, carried only Maine and Vermont, and the gop was reduced to a paltry seventeen senators and eighty-nine representatives in Congress.

From the nadir of 1936, however, the Republicans recovered as the tone of their opposition became less strident. In Congress, they formed alliances with conservative southern Democrats against fdr’s more radical proposals (particularly his 1937 Court-packing bill). This so-called conservative coalition generally controlled both houses of Congress until the early 1970s.

While the western radical Republicans either merged with the New Deal Democrats or turned conservative, progressive Republicanism revived in the metropolitan Northeast. Led initially by corporate lawyer Wendell Willkie and later by New York governor Thomas E. Dewey, the new Republican progressivism accepted the need for some government intervention in economic and social policy. Progressive Republicans also emphasized a commitment to civil rights and advocated a more Atlanticist foreign policy.”

One of the problems has been that Bush has gone around the FISA court in approving wire tapping. The big question is why? FISA has refused something like 3% of the total warrants placed before it, and they can be retroactive up to 72 hours. You point to the FISA courts as proof he is not acting like a boy king, but he has admitted, that he circumvented the FISA courts.

    http://www.epic.org/privacy/wiretap/stats/fisa_stats.html

The number of warrants presented can be lower than the number approved, as the FISA court can “split” a warrant to cover more than one request if the initial request seems too broad. Rare, but possible.

Total number approved FISA requests: 18742
Total number rejected FISA requests: 4

Now that is a bit more reasonable right there…. once we get the left-wing propoganda illusion converted over to left-wing lists of links and facts then we just might be getting to the middle ground… THEN maybe we can argue on the basis of those FACTS without calling those FACTS propoganda.

    ok I will start….

1+1 = 2 (Any arguments with that?) None? ok good… now next question

In a PBS special Larry Silverstein said that building 7 was “pulled” which means demolitions on the day of 911…

Setting up a “pull” takes weeks … you do not just throw some bombs in the building and run….

So why did they have explosives setup in building 7 for weeks and had them all ready to go on 911? AND is that what happened to WTC 1 & 2?

    REMEMBER FACTS ONLY NO PROPOGANDA.

  95. squegeeboo says:

    Gerald, if your using a base 1 system(binary), 1+1 would equal 10

  96. Gerald Gibson says:

    95)

    And binary 10 = 2 (base 10)

Now what about building 7 being prewired weeks before 911 to be demolitioned which is exactly what it looked like and sounded like when it came down…and that is exactly what WTC1&2 looked like and sounded like when they came down …AND seismigraphs taken of the seconds before the WTC1&2 came down show that large exposive events happened…

no binary tricks you can do there… so what is the answer? factual answer… where am I wrong.. I really REALLY want to be wrong …just show me how that is…please.

  97. Krazny says:

  101. squegeeboo says:

Also, in an emergency situation, I would think you could do a pull a lot quicker. So basically, I don’t have any answers one way or the other on that one, and don’t have the time today to do the google search on it for enough comprehension for just the facts.

Besides, that was in the past, we need to go forward, not backward, upward not forward, and all ways twirling towards the future. (That dosn’t count as propaganda does it?)

Also, so you believe in a soul? Are you guys allowed to believe in that sorta thing?

But for serious now, Your views on 9/11 are pretty much were I stand, with the major dif being I’m generally supportive of the way it got twisted.

  106. Gerald Gibson says:

    102

I dont think the USA government did it… I dont know who did… maybe Osama himself planted the explosives… but there is no denying the facts of what happened to those buildings… and since those facts are in direct contrast to the official conspiracy theory then that means we are being lied to…. so do you like being lied to about 911? I do not.

And Loose-Tongue Larry Silverstein, the man who celebrated leasing the WTC seven weeks before 9/11? The man who can “pull” tall buildings in a single, well, uh, pull? The former president of the United Jewish Appeal (and owner of the infamous Queens nightclub “Runway 69″ which has been tied to heroin, money laundering and police corruption)? The international businessman with vast influence over politicians and government bureaucrats as well as strong ties to the Israeli government and financial communities?

Well, thanks to his remarkable foresight in beefing up the insurance on his new lower Manhattan aquisition he’s now the proud beneficiary of a of $7.2 billion settlement, (now under dispute) more than twice the value of the original lease contract! (not bad for a few months of paper pushing) And, with mayor Bloomberg’s help, new investors are going to foot the bill for reconstruction on the WTC site, [The National Journal] leaving Lucky Larry to kick up his heels with his new windfall. Good to see that after all the hubbub old Larry’s landed on his feet.

Some have doubted anyone could be so careless as to ever make such statements on the record. But consider this. Since 9/11 Bush has twice mentioned in speeches that he watched flight 11 hit the north tower before going into the classroom that morning. This is, of course, stunning considering the only known footage of that event (the fireman’s video) couldn’t have been available until hours later at the soonest (some say the next day). In an interview in Parade magazine Donald Rumsfeld specifically referred to “the missile” that hit the Pentagon, a comment that supports the theory that a missile may have been partly or wholly involved in that attack. (Slip of the tongue? You’re damn right it was!) And the lengthy list of shocking things Ariel Sharon has said on the record over the years hardly need to be listed here.

It’s like what Deepthroat said to Bob Woodward; “Truth is these aren’t very bright guys and things got out of hand.” You’re telling me.

Oh, and remember the “evil” Arabs I mentioned who were celebrating as the towers fell and Americans died? The ones in the white van, dressed up as furniture movers? Well shoot, turns out those cheerful chaps weren’t Arabs at all. They were Israeli spies, arrested on suspicion of trying to blow up the GW bridge on 9/11! (The Jerusalem Post reported that “terrorists” had been arrested in a white van packed with explosives on the approach ramp to the George Washington bridge.) They also had box cutters, foreign passports and $4700. rolled up in a sock. Dominik Suter, their boss at “Urban Moving Systems” and another Mossad operative, soon fled to Israel and several months later they were all quietly deported!

You are doing the same propaganda thing the offical 911 conspiracy theory does… it say “I think” and “It seems” …that is not FACTS… that would not fly in a court of law… Go to google type in google video 911 and watch the videos… there you will get a scienctific analysis of what happened… the seismographs do not lie. Explosives went off 10 seconds 9 seconds 8 seconds 7 seconds 6 seconds etc… before the buildings fell …on BOTH buildings…
    http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3498980438587461603&pl=true

You do not have to be a building engineer to see that the timing in seconds does not fit with the official story… without an answer for that EVERYONE should DEMAND a real answer that would fly in a court of law.

The past and the future are all the same…. history repeats itself… and if the 911 story is a lie then the people that did it are still around today and should be held to account… once again I do not see Bush being involved…. that would have been a mistake … all that is known for sure is that the buildings did NOT come down because of planes or fires.

    Now once again…

How did building #7 get wired up for explosives weeks before 911? And why?

  108. Gerald Gibson says:

    Gerald, if your using a base 1 system(binary), 1+1 would equal 10

    Comment by squegeeboo

You obviously do not understand binary number system. I am a computer programer so let me explain it to you…

    in binary 110 = 6
    in binary 10 = 2
    in binary 1 = 1

    in binary the 1s place is either a 1 or a 0
in binary the next place is a 1 or a 0 but it is in the 2s place sooo..
    in binary 11 = 3 and 10 = 2 and 110 = 6
    in binary 10 DOES NOT = 10 it equals = 2

  109. squegeeboo says:

Gerald, for shame, your real point on the insurance should be this:
    1. He’s only getting 1/2 that amount, he’s trying to claim it as two seperate attacks, and thats not gonna fly, so its down to ONLY 3.6 billion
    2. He had only payed the first 15 mil of his lease, but due to a clause in his lease about terrorism, he dosn’t have to pay any more on it, so he’s netting 3.6billion -15million.
Now must conservatives will ‘forget’ to mention point 2 if you only mention the 7.2 billion part, beacuse they will think you havn’t done enough of your research. If you mentio the 3.6 part, you can then nail them on point 2.

Not quite sure why I would help you out on this one, but honesty is the best policy.

No offense Gerald, but “facts” can be twisted to support or deny any position. Witness the debate over global warming. I would like to read over the info you have, but I prefer a completly credible source.

Then watch the video I have linked.. I just saw it myself this week … I had heard about Silverstein before, but I did not see how his statement made a difference… UNTIL someone pointed out the obvious …wiring a building to be pulled takes WEEKS and #7 was pulled on 911 day …that sent chills down my spine…. also look at the seismographs …they are hard facts …not to be twisted…

    Watch this ***VIDEO***

It is not just some kid spouting off… it is a smart group of people using numbers to prove their case… this is the type of stuff that convinces me… I want #s …and this film gives them to you.

  122. Krazny says:

I am at work right now. I will watch it tonight when I get home. Mostly Gerald, I hope that our government, no matter how much I disagree with it, would do something that terrible.

Once again I dont think our government did. MAYBE a few rogues like Pollard who was caught spying for Israel and those guys recently caught handing secret documents to AIPAC. Or like this guy …

A physicist was sentenced to 40 months federal prison time and fined $20,000 for illegally exporting tiny electronic components to Israel that could be used as triggers for nuclear weapons. Richard Kelly Smyth, 72, who spent 16 years as a fugitive, was immediately made eligible for parole at Monday’s sentencing.

  124. Seixon says:

    Krazny,

It’s all very technical the why and how. Congress was briefed, FISA knew about it, and even the FISA judges say that the administration was acting under their Constitutional powers under Article II. Not even Chuckie Schumer is holding on to it being illegal anymore. It’s time to put up the white flags and go home.

  125. Krazny says:

given that your FISA judge theory has been roundly knocked down, I think it is time for you to raise the white flag and go home. I am a reasonable intelligent person. Please explain the why and how, and provide links to back up your entire argument. The “trust me I know what I am talking about” argument carries zero weight here.

  126. Krazny says:

LOL I just tried to post on Sexion’s blog, because he is to chicken to answer my question. His blog suffered and “error”

  127. Democrat Soldier says:

#125 – Interesting how your assertion is belied by everyone involved.

“It’s inexcusable … clearly and categorically wrong,” says Sen. Arlen Specter (R) of Pennsylvania, who was not among the congressional leaders Mr. Bush says had been briefed on the program.

    http://www.csmonitor.com/2005/1219/p01s01-uspo.html

‘Both presiding judges agreed not to disclose the secret program to the 10 other FISA judges, who routinely handled some of the government’s most highly classified secrets.”

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/02/08/AR2006020802511.html

“Several FISA judges said they also remain puzzled by Bush’s assertion that the court was not “agile” or “nimble” enough to help catch terrorists. The court had routinely approved emergency wiretaps 72 hours after they had begun, as FISA allows, and the court’s actions in the days after the Sept. 11 attacks suggested that its judges were hardly unsympathetic to the needs of their nation at war.”

    http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/printer_020906K.shtml

“As commander in chief of the military, the president obviously plays a special role in time of war. But the Constitution does not give him the power to suspend the law in wartime. Instead, Article II of the Constitution says without qualification that the president shall “take care that the Laws be faithfully executed.” (It doesn’t say, “except in war or national emergencies.”) ”

    http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20060115/news_lz1e15farber.html

“The claim that the warrantless eavesdropping is necessary for national security ignores how easy it is for the administration to get warrants in such circumstances. In 1978, Congress enacted the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) and created a new court, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, to approve warrants when the federal government says they are needed to gather information related to foreign activities. FISA made it much easier for the government to get warrants, no longer requiring probable cause of criminal activity, but instead requiring only that the government show a reasonable likelihood that foreign intelligence information would be gathered.”

    http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/news/editorial/13553154.htm

Now that we’ve proven your argument has no basis in fact, what is your response?

Please, remain factual and provide links to proof.

  128. Wayne A. Schneider says:

    #122 Gerald,

I’d like to see the video in your link, but I keep getting an error message (page cannot be displayed) whenever I click on it. Do you have the actual full URL so I can try cutting and pasting it into my browser? Thanks.

  129. Seixon says:

    Krazny,

Sorry, I was making dinner, at the gym working out for 2 hours, taking a shower, cleaning by bathroom, eating some more, and… here I am. You got an error on my blog? Can you describe it? I just approved your comment.

    Anyways…

Go to the link I already trackbacked with here. Democrat soldiers just posted a bunch of old information from other people. Former FISA judges have just testified to the Senate that they don’t think that Bush did anything illegal, and that he has Constitutional authority to do what he did.

Did you even read the post I trackbacked with? I’m guessing not.

Posting links to journalists and people who don’t have a damn clue what they are talking about doesn’t represent an argument. The reason why the president had to do things differently is because they needed to pass leads from the NSA to the FBI. Also, 72 hours is not enough to establish probable cause in many cases.

But hey, what do a bunch of judges know? Apparently Arlen Specter, and a few journalists know better than them.

    Or maybe not.

  130. katy says:

hello, wayne schneider – seems you and jane have been making yourselves scarce around here…
i’m not positive of the link that gerald posted, as i get an error message also…
wonder if it’s “loose change”? you can get it on google videos…
worth your time – 1 1/2hr …i’m not real strong with the conspiracy theories, but this movie sure puts a lot of facts and information out there…
hurts to think it may very well be true…

  131. Ryan Neat says:

“Also, 72 hours is not enough to establish probable cause in many cases. Seixon”

Is that why only 4 requests out of many thousand have been rejected? Sorry, the numbers say you’re an idiot and a fool again.

The 72 hours is the timeframe within which a request must be filed, and if you don’t have probable cause in 72 hours, then you PROBABLY SHOULDN’T BE EAVESDROPPING – you MORON.

Besides, if the president has WAR POWERS, because we’re AT WAR as you claim, the FISA period expands to 15 days.

§ 1844. Authorization during time of war
    Release date: 2005-03-17

Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the President, through the Attorney General, may authorize the use of a pen register or trap and trace device without a court order under this subchapter to acquire foreign intelligence information for a period not to exceed 15 calendar days following a declaration of war by Congress.

You freeptards keep saying we’re at war, are you saying 15 days isn’t enough time?

Get a clue – YOU’RE AN INEPT IDIOT WHO DOESN’T FACT CHECK!

  132. Krazny says:

    Siexon,

what your are telling me, is despite the overwhelming evidance, that Bush does not need to circumevent the FISA court. You are refusing to change your position, and admit your wrong. I guess for a republican that is showing courage and conviction.

    whatever

  133. Seixon says:

    Krazny,

Hey, I’m just listening to what actual judges are saying. I’m not a legal scholar, and it would seem to me that the persons who would know what’s legal or not best would be actual judges who decide that sort of thing every single day.

You guys can keep listening to Russ Feingold and other partisans – I will continue to listen to the judges.
