No one can effectively invade Iran and hold it long term. Iran is a republic of toughened people. Attacking Iran simply rasies the tension levels and is very conducive for certain people, groups and industries. It will finally lead to a worse form of mess than we have in Iraq, a liability that the world will pay for in the coming decades.

The real problem is that Bush is not the best guy to have in office while
the US is at war. Keep in mind his currently 0 for 2 on the battlefield -
We have not won in Afghanistan and the war there is far from over,
and, we are clearly losing in Iraq and things will get worse there as well.

The problem is why should we trust a proven loser to open a third
front ???????

If he cannot win the first two how the heck is going to win a third ?????

I say we hold off as long as possible and wait for a real man to take office
before we dive into Iran.

I’m certain that you are right about this. As much as I am that he did not misspeak when he told an audience that we would NOT have an all volunteer army. They booed, and he rephrased it to say that we would have one. We already don’t when people are being forced to re-enlist or stay longer than intended. It’s all ready NOT all voluntary.

I think that sometimes, when you are juggling so many lies, some of the truths inadvertently get uttered by mistake.

Israeli election is over – it’s now THEIR turn to “bring peace and stability to the Middle East”…. this is too complicated a situation for the US military, it’s much simpler if IDF takes care of the problem – after all, Iran has called for “Death to Israel”, so who could blame them for taking action?

well, we COULD put money towards the younger generation in Iran, you know the ones calling for democracy? of coarse, that would mean that we would have to give them democratic controll over their resources too, that includes oil, so that wouldn’t work. we’ll just do what all brain dead right wing fascists do, bomb the hell out of them, take their resources, ignore the COSTS of the venture and attack anyone domestically who tries to be the voice of reason. when we get counter attacked, they’ll use it as justification for our original attack and all the brain dead idiot rush limbaugh listeners will say “see, told you so”. this country is going down in a flame of ignorance. it didn’t have to be this way.

According to my friends in Iraq and elsewhere, serving with our armed services, the Military has been quietly shifting forces in preparation for an attack. The are thousands of troops on the Iraq side of the border, that while they are attempting to keep out the influx of terrorists, they are also preparing to repel any retaliation by Iran. Thousands more troops in the northern part of Iraq also have contingency plans to move to the border if Iran is attacked. The thought being that Iran will attempt to launch a ground war with U.S. forces if we go in and blow up there nuke program.

There also have been reports, some published some not, that the U.S. is moving more bombers to the gulf region. Rumor has it they are also bringing in a number of the larger cargo planes capable of quickly moving tanks and artillery.

So yea, if it’s not already enough of a shit show over there, it appears Cheney, i mean bush, wants to make it more of one.
