Florida Gov. Jeb Bush criticized immigration fear-mongers for “pounding their chests†for short-term political gain. Bush said the tone of the debate had been “hurtful†to his family. “My wife came here legally, but it hurts her just as it hurts me when people give the perception that all immigrants are bad.”

Paris Hilton possibly playing Mother Teresa
April 5th, 2006 at 9:12 amHow F’ed would that be?
#1–that would be completely symbolic of the world today. A fake person who worships wealth playing the part of a real person who devoted her life to help the plight of some of the most destitute and downtrodden people on this planet.
Speaking of wealth worshippers, Katie Couric will be leaving the Toady Show (spelling intentional) to become an anchor over at CBS “news”. Whoop-de-doo.

April 5th, 2006 at 9:26 amEewww…Katie Couric. I read an article today titled “The Katie Couric Watch”. When did newscasters become celebs? Give me Amy Goodman relaying the news as it should be relayed to people. Straightforward and no glam.
April 5th, 2006 at 9:32 amPoor Jeb Bush, he knows all his political capital is in the latino community, no more Gov. Bush in Florida in next election ???
April 5th, 2006 at 9:36 am#2 Isn’t she taking a pay cut to move? So it would be the inverse of wealth worship
April 5th, 2006 at 9:48 amIt’s a beautiful morning. The air smells just a little bit cleaner just knowing that Tom Delay and the The Indicted Tabernacle Choir are singing the blues. Do Christians in prison practice safe sects?
Condomaniacs?
April 5th, 2006 at 9:51 am#4 – Isn’t Gov. Jeb Bush restricted from running due to term limits?
April 5th, 2006 at 9:55 amDoes the Federal Government get to write off the War in Iraq as a loss if the unity government experiment fails? People need to remind the Conservatives of their bait and switch act over their claim to be the party of smaller government.Elected Conservatives for smaller government please step forward. Oops, sorry, I guess they’re too busy worrying about Katie Couric. Bloated Government, yeah that’s the truth, that’s Conservative principles in action, and by which party? This is the fact they cannot run from, they are squarely to blame.
April 5th, 2006 at 9:55 amcouric – “…after listening to my heart and my gut — two things that have served me pretty well in the past…”
uuuhhhh…
and squegeeboo, sweetie, the article says “She agreed to a a salary near her current range of $13 million to $15 million for five years”… peanuts, really… no wealth worship there…
but maybe as anchor, she’ll have to retrict herself to just reading the news, not asking pandering, biased, silly questions … hard to visualize katie with a serious expression…
April 5th, 2006 at 10:50 amKaty, I don’t think I could live off of only 2-3 million a year, shes a saint for taking that job.
April 5th, 2006 at 11:03 amAbout Darfur, One of the repeated justifications for the invasion of Iraq is “Saddam executed (insert number here) of his own people, he had to be stopped.” Considering how we “enabled” him, from time to time, who are we to talk? And now we are doing it ourselves. Mighty white of us. And in Darfur it is wholesale slaughter, and BushCo is talking about invading Iran. Fabulous. I guess there isn’t any ‘big money’ in Darfur, so BushCo is not interested. The first question posed when deciding who they will “help” is, “What’s in it for us?” If they don’t like the answer, forget it. They are on their own. BushCo doesn’t have the time to waste on rescues that don’t come with massive payouts. They are running America like a corporation, after all. Nothing personal, Darfur, it’s just business.

April 5th, 2006 at 11:26 amKatie Couric as the CBS anchor — just thinking it makes me giggle. That, and Tom DeLay loving Barney Frank. Mmmm, good luvin’.
April 5th, 2006 at 11:39 amThe Massachusetts Universal healthcare sounds like a good idea (at first). What I don’t understand is the penalizing of people who don’t have health insurance, but can afford it.
What if you don’t want it? Why should you be forced to buy yet another thing you don’t want? There are many people who don’t trust big Pharma and that style of healthcare who will now be forced into the system. Am I missing something?
April 5th, 2006 at 11:39 amI flipped over to Hardball last night just as Matthews was finishing his interview with Delay. I thought it was so cute when he said DeLay was “retiring” rather than resigning. Anybody else hear that?
April 5th, 2006 at 11:58 amSo only Mexican Immigrants are OKAYED by the Kings Brother?
What a Bunch of Odd words these people use to selectively Judge other people.
Arabs are Satan
Mexicans are Illegals and not worthy of anything accordong to many Neo-Cons, and are but cheap labor, yet Jeb also supports those very Corporations and companies that help to keep the Illegal Mexicans Working in Poverty…Delay wanted to see ethnic groups in the Marianas recieve poverty wages as well, His own “petri Dish of Capitalism” he called it. Hmm. Money and Stature to these People is everything, Race, Religion and Color is but an excuse for cheap wages to theses ‘Capitalists’ which is quite the opposite of what the “Christian’ Messiah was. Gibbor.
Gibbor means the “Giver”
How so do these people reckon with themselves at the end of the day?
April 5th, 2006 at 1:10 pm#16 Easy… their comfortable beds and sheets are made with cheap labor.

Maybe if enough states did this, it would make an impact? Not sure upon whom, but an impact would be a start.
