McClellan Sets New Flip-Flop Record

White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan, 12:59 PM, refusing to talk about a legal filing:

The second part of your question is referring to an ongoing legal proceeding and referring to a filing in that legal proceeding. We have had a policy in place, going back to the October time period of 2003 that we are not going to comment on an ongoing investigation or an ongoing legal proceeding. That policy remains unchanged.

McClellan, 1:08 PM, referring a reporter to a legal filing:

Actually, go back and look at the filing that was made by Mr. Fitzgerald, because Mr. Fitzgerald talks about that very issue in his filing, and contradicts what you’re suggesting.

American Progress CEO John Podesta weighed in on McClellan’s performance today. Read his statement HERE.

Let’s talk about Bush and Cheney being under oath when they spoke with fitzgerald. Does anyone believe that they did any other than lie when they were under oath?

The writing is on the wall. GAME OVER BOYS. Lets talk 2008. My vote is for Edwards/ Feingold.

And just think, President Clinton was impeached because he lied about a blowjob!

I don’t think either cheney or Bush were under oath. I would be suprised if they were anyway. They didn’t go under oath for the 9/11 commision. they wouldn’t do it here.

Libby is STILL VISITING THE WHITE HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!! Why, do you suppose? Because Libby, Bush, Cheney, Rove, et. al. are still working together coordinating the defense to Fitzgerald’s investigation.

Why is Libby still visiting the White House!!!!?????????

  14. Daniel DiRito says:

Scott McClellan, soon to be called “The Magician” given his propensity to make the President’s indiscretions disappear, played political dodge ball again today as he was peppered with questions about the revelation that the President allegedly authorized the release of classified information. The fact that this administration is adept at explaining away issues and questions of impropriety may be their own demise. Having control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate has led this administration to believe that they merely need to give a plausible explanation and then wait for the issues to wane. However, the inability to censure or impeach the President may well be inconsequential if his approval ratings continue to drop.

What the President and his handlers may be missing is that the absence of the masses pounding on the White House doors and calling for his departure may not necessarily equate with acceptance of an ever increasing pattern to rewrite each and every situation or circumstance to vindicate the President. They may well believe that the public is stupid, (and much of their actions indicate that they do believe this) but they may have also miscalculated the tipping point effect. It’s akin to the story of the boy who cried wolf one too many times. I’m convinced the public is more complacent and tolerant (to a point) than they are unable to discern when they are being played. This may be one of those times in recent history where the Republicans get lost in the glow of their ability to win the battles while slowly but surely losing the war. What a refreshing turn of events that would be.

After three years of White House stonewalling, it is time for the President and the Vice President to publicly explain what transpired in the Oval Office and between them and Mr. Libby and Mr. Rove.

    ~ John Podesta

That’s a kiddie show and not near as interesting compared to the miracles you worked for WJC & Co. John. It’s too bad you work for the Dark Side because evidently when TSHTF you’re better than Ghostbusters. Is it true that when you were pulling Bills dick out of the dirt all those time you jokingly called yourself “The Secretary of Sh*t”? Come work for us John. We’ll pay you twice what Soros is paying and you’ll sleep better too.

    Project Podesta

Podesta’s most lasting contribution to the leftist cause came through his promotion of a strategy that White House aides dubbed “Project Podesta.” This was a system that enabled the Clintons to push through unpopular policies that neither Congress nor the American people wanted. Its implementation marked a dramatic tilt in the balance of power, giving the executive branch an unprecedented ability to force its will on the legislative branch.

Project Podesta enabled the president to bypass Congress through the use of executive orders; presidential decision directives; White-House-sponsored lawsuits; vacancy appointments to high federal office; selective regulatory actions against targeted corporations; as well as a host of other extra-constitutional tactics.

Podesta showed the Clintons they could gain by force what they might fail to achieve through legislation.

“Stroke of the pen. Law of the land. Kind of cool,” quipped White House aide Paul Begala to The New York Times on July 5, 1998, in response to questions about the Clintons’ growing disdain for the will of Congress.

Wow, that sounds awfully familiar. Kinda like the guy in the White House now. Add in signing statements to invalidate the will of Congress, illegal spying, illegal war, compromising national security and you’ve pretty much nailed it. Projection is so unbecoming… I know it’s hard, but try to stay on topic.

Why is that Mother F**ker never wrong!! why can’t he EVER ADMIT that he f**ked up??!?

  51. Mr. Evil says:

Let’s simplify things everybody. George Bush, Dick (head) Cheney and the rest of the Neo-Con Cabal are Evil Incarnate. Completely and Totally possessed by wealth and power… powermad. They are using the military as simple, expendible pawns for their sinister quest to rule the world. This is in no way within the realm of what the founding fathers of this nation had envisioned.

They didn’t live in a perfect world either, but they thought, and wrestled, each and every night, every day and night for months and in some cases, years. To form a “perfect world” like we are to this day fully capable of. They didn’t have all the answers and in some cases were completely hypocritical. But they DID come up with an awesome plan.

Never in the history of this country have we had such an obvious attempt at a coup. Ultra-right, Neo-Conservative, discumbobulated, cockamamie, ridiculous, short-sighted fools are not only trying to hijack this country, but they are rolling along conquer the world. Just as has been tried time and time again throughout human history, their experiment shall too… fail.

People generally don’t have a problem with allegiance. I do believe that people don’t want to be controlled either. And we are now being presented with this problem. They do not have the general populace’s desires and needs at the forefront of their agenda or decisions.

I don’t know about you but, I prefer the truth. This demented, PNAC ideal for the world, must be stopped… immediately! It’s bankrupting our nation and the future for our children. We deserve better, we can do better, because we are definitely capable or doing better. Not only for us, but for the rest of the world.

I guess you forgot. Clinton never admitted anything. According to him it’s all dependent upon what you’re definition of “is”, is. Why do you worry about this shit anyway? 61. ElectricBassPlayer says:

#19, I don’t know how “unpopular” these programs were that the Clinton administration “forced” through. If you’re going by that simplistic metric, then you need to go no further than compare job approval ratings at this time in office. It’s pretty likely that Clinton’s popularity was much higher, and what makes the difference between them even more remarkable is that Clinton’s highest rating probably never matched W’s highest, after 9/11.

Another thing is that Bush’s party has control of both houses of Congress. So even if Clinton did do these things you talk about, which I guess you’re saying are reprehensible, how do you rationalize the fact that Bush has done them also, needlessly? I know that’s a tough one to spin, so I’ll give you the real answer: Bush doesn’t give a flying fuck about Congress, the Constitution, or the rule of law. He’s going to do whatever he wants, and what he wants to do is very, very unpopular.

And God forbid anyone reveal any secret activity . . . when it doesn’t benefit the Republicans.

I’m shocked. Shocked. Shocked that the Republicans are lying through their teeth again.

Republicans gone wild. Totally out of control. Total failures. We’ve got to clean them out with a double flush in 2006 and 2008.

That’s why you find terrorist nations and genocidal maniacs given places at important tables in the UN and men like Arafat win the Nobel Peace Prize. Perhaps you should take your own advice and think.
