Seeing the forest.

Seeing the forest.

“The revelation that President Bush authorized former White House aide I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby to divulge classified information about Iraq fits a pattern of selective leaks of secret intelligence to further the administration’s political agenda,” Knight Ridder reports.

Don’t really care about that here. We would rather you added something to the conversation.

Is the MSM almost awake now?

  4. Abby says:

Bushit!! The “selected” information was leaked before it was declassified.

The President has the right to declassify anything he deems fit but, in this case, this NIE was “officially declassified” about 8 days after it was leaked to selected reporters. There in lies the lie. It was leaked before it was declassified.

  5. SiriusA says:

Spudge_boy — I’ve added to other conversations a number of times, I just couldn’t resist. Yes, it’s childish — but if we can’t act childishly once in a while than the terrorists have already won! ;)

To add something: this is a very encouraging story. Could it be that the press are sniffing something? Could that something be …. a story? God in heaven, please give them back their journalistic ethics and the balls to put them to use.

  6. Bryan says:

Surely this administration which vowed time and time again to uphold the law and to restore trust and faith in our government is now exposed as nothing less than band of vicious political opportunists for whom the Constitution and the separation of power may be termed ‘quaint.’

At last, all the Bush lies are explained. All you have to do is look to the heavens.

    SiriusA,

It’s all good, but it is known that a lot of passer byers only read the first and last posts in a thread, so if the first post is wasted on a “frist” post, we lose giving out good info. I don’t mind joking and humor. Just add something else to the thread also.

Like the fact that the MSM bought into the fact that there was a “bi-partisan compromise” immigration bill yesterday, when there wasn’t. The Bush admin knew the press would bite on that and try to cover Bush’s leak implication.

There is more talk of the “bi-partisan compromise” falling apart in the news today than there is discussion of the Bush leak evidence.

    It worked once again.

  9. Vance says:

It will be interesting to see how the sunday morning talk show hosts handle this.

  10. Marie says:

The way in which the msm handles the news from congress is appalling. Everything that is negative is always bipartisan if not totally Democratic obstructionism, but anything positive is a plus for the Rethugs.
The leak story is apparently too complicated for the little pea brains who run the stations. It’s ever so much fun to run film clips of Frist criticizing the Dems.

  11. Colorado Jyms says:

Can we finally relax? Can we say that this administration is done for? I pray that the writing is finally on the wall and that the last 6 years of abuse to our country is finally over. I pray that this sucker is the final blow to the NEOCONS. And I hope that Rove, Bush, Rummy and Cheney all get to serve their time for the crimes they have done to our countyry.

  12. Wisco says:

It fits a pattern, all right. The administration has a pattern of putting its political standing first and the nation second (or third, behind party). As a result, both the nation and the administration pays the price.

I’d love watching all this crap blowing up in their faces if it weren’t for the fact that it’s blowing up in ours, too.

That takes all the sweet schadenfreude out of it…

As Tom said the other day:

Bush forgot that he placed his right hand on a Bible and swore to protect the Constitution, he didn’t place his hand on the Constitution and sware to protect the Bible.

  14. Silly Little American Boy says:

Damn, with so many leaks, it makes me wonder what’s left to spill?

  15. JP says:

So if the information leaked is truthful and unbiased, the administration hates it. If the information is cherry-picked, and only the bits that are helpful to the administration’s objectives, it’s OK.

  16. Mash says:

Here’s a new post by me on my site that gives some historical perspective to President Bush’s claim of the Unitary Executive and what it means to the leak case. It compares this Administration’s assertion of the Unitary Executive to Robespierre’s use of it during the French Revolution.

  18. Jackie Rawlings says:

What else do Bush do that will come out. Over three years investigating a leak and watching President Bush say he would fire anyone in his Administration that leaked the name now we hear Bush was the one who leaked. Fitzgerald has more info on this corrupt group just wait for the next bomb shell.

Here is the feeble reply from the National Review, and of course their answer, no biggie Clinton did it to counter political opinion also. Then go over to the Corner and all there is is Jonah whining about Joe Wilson and his apparent social drinking. Spineless aristocrats the lot of them all. I have to say that for the first time if this was the same congress that tried to impeach Clinton he would have been gone by now. I hope people can make the distinctions between the 2 scenarios Mr. McCarthy describes in his article. Going over to RedState and Capt. Quarters to see what kind of paper bags they picked out for their new shame suits. Can you say “Oh Father”(like Sylvester’s son). Again remember to remind Conservatives you really like their new core principle of Bloated government.

  20. the fly-man says:

Denial has run rampant for the right this morning. Redstate, Capt. Qtrs , nothin, zip, nil, nada. This is crucial folks. The next time any GOP type accuses the new Democratic party President of anything the best response is none. Let a few well placed stooges(IE: Mr. McClellan)take the heat and blame fox news. This is a calculated strategy to speak to the faithful that all unsightly tasks will blow away with a big puff from the party loyals while they watch this Patriotic President and his compatriots protect the country from, terror, gays and women wanting abortions. The GOP’s new line should be “Don’t be a player hater”

  21. Paul in Mexico says:

I heard from a well placed source late last night that the reason the immigration bill failed, fell through, or whatever was because of the following, which is typical of the repuglicans.

The 55 puke senators, with just a few dems joining in, proposed 400 amendments to the immigration legislation.

Over 300 of the amendments were for pork barrel projects totalling over 70 billion dollars. It was, once again, giveaways to corporations, drug companies and big oil, to build bridges, overpasses, etc.

These people never quit, do they?

  22. Cynical says:

It would be great if Bush finally gets in trouble for everything he as done wrong. However, I feel that we could have video of him eating a baby while having relations with a goat and somehow the democrats will still be blamed. Even now it seems that the media has moved on to other stories.

  23. LC Liberal says:

Where is the MSM on the Bush/Plame leak “revelation”? Besides tearing Scott McClellan to pieces again, there has been very little substantial coverage or analysis of the story. And there’s been zero talk of impeachment besides lauhging at “liberals” for bringing up thew subject. And what’s FNC saying about this? I don’t watch that propoganda so I wouldn’t know.

Why is Congress abdicating their responsibility?

Do we have a Dictator of a Dictatorship , or a President of a Democracy.

Garrison Keillor had a good article the other day. He said he is going to rest, because his generation will be okay. It is the young people that will be affected by the debt, environment, war, jobs, and they are absent… to busy listening to their ipods and watching Paris Hilton. If Jay Leno’s Jay-Walking is a representation of what American’s know about politics and history, they know zippo.

  27. troll says:

The MSM is not abuzz with joy because what you have is speculation that you may have proof of an alleged pattern of leaks including one of a outing of a spy who had possibly outed herself and an undisclosed source purported to be conncted to the administration telling of foreboding pipes and legal VPs legally engaging in politics.

  28. the fly-man says:

Outed herself you say. Is that specualtion?

    Oscar,
Very witty I liked it. Original?

  32. oscar wilde says:

Original? mais oui. They just drop off the pen.
Troll, thanks for the compliment, a few more below.

    A whitehouse aid named scooter,
Did dastardly deeds for a shooter.
    Outing an agent named Plame,
    Got stuck with the blame.
    Pity it wasn’t Anne Coulter.

    A sleazeball named Tom Delay,
As honest as any long day.
    No said Ronnie the Earle,
As straight as a plastic pearl.
    Christian values? nae nae nae.

    A Senator named Russ Feingold,
    Argued that truth be told.
    From colleagues, scant backing,
    Seems backbones are lacking.
Russ, you’re out in the cold.

In telling the war’s a mess,
    Mistakes; thousands I guess.
    From a position sublime,
    Cried Rummy, “Non mine”
But thought, one or two, non-the less.

    Condi Rice in Blackburn town,
Cried “Goodness me! the folks so brown.
So few problems before the war,
“Go home, go home, George’s whore.”
Smile don’t frown, just go back and blow the clown.

    A TV diagnosis from Frist,
Put his cred. On the dubious list.
    He threatened “Nuclear Axe”
    For judges ‘n shameful tax.
    Justice? Boy am I pissed.

All his life he’s suffered affliction,
Such a looser, reads like bad fiction.
    With all this power,
Should be “Man of the hour”
Still need a war for an erection.

    And more.

    Free thinking’s under constant attack,
Baah baah, the sound of the pack.
    A Utah blogger called Norm,
For super naturalists, pours only scorn.
Don’t put your kid on a plane, you won’t get him back.

    Ishmael,Patel and Singh,
Fell foul of a despicable sting.
Strange drug terms they did utter,
    These narco’s from the gutter.
Justice for brown folks, really, no kidding.

In backing the war and its slaughters,
Joe ain’t doing what he ought to.
    Like some two bit whore,
    Of that you’re sure.
Just look at his sackful of quarters.

    A halfwit did so aspire,
    To positions lofty and higher.
    The press sounding glum,
    “We backed someone dumb”
Who would have thought such a liar.

    Mission accomplished did he proclaim,
A superpower lived up to its name.
    The right wing’s still backing,
    This man that’s so lacking.
The carnage, oh what a shame.

    Geogie Porgy pudding and pie,
Sent the planes up in the sky.
The bombs go boom ‘n bang ‘n roar,
Just you watch the gas price soar.
Nuke those a-rabs, die die die.

    Georgie Porgy pudding and pie,
Sent the bombers up in the sky.
Don’t be talking about no Iraq,
This one will be mighty craic.
The king in the Whitehouse would not lie.

    Down the Straits of Hormuz,
    Oil tankers they do cruise.
Should one get a rocket and sink,
    Then problems me do think.
Dub, are you still on the booze?

  36. Wills says:

Could his “nuke iran” leak be a way of averting attention to his other leak?

  37. the fly-man says:

Dearest Troll, doesn’t it seem on the surface, that now the administration has admitted to using selective “releases” of de-classified information to counter political opponents, specifically, Joe Wilson, doesn’t that seem a little heavy handed for such a bunch that doesn’t respond to 90% of it’s critics anyway? They are such control freaks of their points, maybe this one got away from them. But to ruin the Brewster Jennings op in Turkey and prematurely retire a Cia operative seems just a wee bit excessive. We shall see.
