Right-Wing Radio Host Advocates Murdering Border Crossers

Right-wing radio host Brian James of KFYI in Arizona recently advocated murder as a way of dealing with undocumented immigrants. An excerpt:

What we’ll do is randomly pick one night - every week - where we will kill whoever crosses the border. Step over there and you die. You get to decide whether it’s your lucky night or not. I think that would be more fun…[I'd be] happy to sit there with my high-powered rifle and my night scope.

The remarks prompted Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard and U.S. Attorney Paul Charlton to send a complaint to the FCC. Here’s a portion:

At no time during this hour did Mr. James disavow violence or indicate he was joking. In fact, when one caller suggested Mr. James did not really mean he wanted to shoot and kill immigrants, Mr. James retorted that in fact he did mean it. Immediately after this exchange, Mr. James engaged the next caller in a discussion about the correct ammunition to use when shooting border crossers to make sure the shots would be fatal.

This type of threatening and inciting speech is dangerous and totally irresponsible for anyone, particularly a licensed body using public airways.

Brian James has not apologized and claims his comments were “satire.” Later, for a story on the KFYI website, James said “KFYI does not advocate shooting illegals. It might be fun, but they don’t advocate it.”

Make up your own mind about whether James meant it or not. You can listen to the audio HERE. (Click “KFYI audio” to start the recording.) You can contact KFYI with your views at chickboss@kfyi.com.

    Family Values! Family Values!

Remember kids, it's ok to kill people if they don't look like you!

Sheesh. No wonder the rest of the world thinks we're all insane.

  2. Bruce Gorton Says:

It doesn't matter if he meant it. It was a clear case of incitement to murder, and is thus a crime.

  3. Zookeeper Says:

You know, I used to think a conversation was over when one pulled the "Nazi" card. Now I realize it's escalated to the "murder" card.

This jackass needs to be fired in a big hurry.

  4. Bruce Gorton Says:

I am, after all, only applying the same standard as they applied to the guy who joked about "Burning Bushes"

  5. Badmoodman Says:

Lucky for Brian James that he's confined to the audio airwaves and that he didn't advocate his position while exposing his bare nipple to a visual audience. The FCC really frowns on THAT behavior.

  6. And You Thought REAGAN Was Stupid Says:

I would like to see a few immigrants capture Brian James and put a loaded gun in his mouth. Of course, I mean this satirically.

  7. Unemployment Rate - 4.7% Says:

Left-wing mouthpiece Ben Affleck advocates hanging the President. Mary Landrieu advocates punchin him in the face. What's your point, Judd?

  8. ElectricBassPlayer Says:

Now let's see whether there's any sort of fine or reprimand or whatever emanating from the uber-conservative FCC, and/or whether there's any disavowal emanating from the Republican Party.

I'd be willing to bet money the Party won't say anything. Their silence would indicate tacit approval.

And they wonder why they can't get the Hispanic vote.

  9. MrBlueSky Says:

You know, I am glad that we're seeing more and more of this kind of behavior... I am not simply referring to this behavior of wanting to kill immigrants.

I am also referring collectively to everything going on right now... the mass protests on immigration... Bush approving outing a CIA agent to get back at her husband for exposing his lies... the temperature is rising in Washington at the same time as it is here in Seattle due to the warm spring weather.

You see... it appears to me that Bush and the neo-cons are circling their wagons, as it were.

This means we're likely to see another downward spiral in Bush's approval ratings as well as the Republican Congress' approvals.

It shows an ever more desperate movement in it's waning days.

But beware... the beast is at its most dangerous when it is wounded and about to die. (Hence the threat of nukes used against Iran, whether Congress or the American public agrees with it or not.)

Victory will soon be ours, people! Savor it when it comes!

  10. ElectricBassPlayer Says:

#7 -- the difference is that stopping Bush would SAVE lives.

  11. Unemployment Rate - 4.7% Says:

#11 - so your criticism is partisan as I suspected. That's why liberals are out of power - because they are partisan and their entire agenda revolves around an ungodly hatred for Bush and America.

Right wing radio is "hate speech radio", as are all right wing media entities.
Hatred is the fuel that powers American right wing conservatives.

I think after running down as much as I could on Mr. James it appears he is just another unaccountable freelancer available to disperse hateful spew without recourse or indemnity. Wasn't this very point just discussed regarding Fox news and it's list of non payroll opiners? He is just another zit on the back of the GOP that needs to be popped. #12 - If spouting off a bunch of nonsensical GOP talking points helps you to swallow it, then more power to you. But no one here is buying it. The fact you are doing it in defense of someone who is advocating MASS MURDER is particularly telling...

  17. Jeopardude Says:

#12 - "ungodly hatred for Bush and America."

That's the problem with these people. They are so self-righteous. If you disagree with Bush, you're against God? You're ungodly? If you disagree with Bush, you're against America?

Oh, how I wish I could have a mind that would accommodate such ridiculous assertions and contradictions.

those xians in georgia who are worried cuz they can't be intolerant??? just call for killing homos, cuz that's the GOPuke way...

  20. Rich in Fat Little Brother Land Says:

    HEY # 7

The point is that this jerk and his employer have a license to operate a broadcast
station IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST AND ON A PORTION OF THE PUBLICLY
    OWNED BROADCAST SPECTRUM.

This behavior is a clear violation of the terms of their license and they may therefore
    have to forfeit it.

    Get it now asshole?

Mr. RU4.saken, here is the link to the HUff post regarding Ben A. comments. I read most of the comments and they're certainly a large number of people who disagree with him. Your comparisons to him and Mr. James are actually quite ironic to me . Just like the Administrations rationale for when it is appropriate to leak or is it "inform"? You currently are out numbered , when we get to about the 100th comment then come back and see who's fair and balanced. Better call all your friends and tell them to come quick and tattle on Ben and the rest of the ungodly powerless heathens. #11 -- I agree with just stopping a seeming re-enactment of ClockWork Orange in the halls of government. Killing any of the idiots would just make them martyrs, a distinction unearned, at best.

Far better is anonymity for a cabal that exemplifies the "banality of evil".

  27. Tundra Says:

Alot of calls asking the FCC to step in.

Is that what we really want? The government deciding what you can say or not? They already have squashed plenty, I don't advocate giving them more power on speech.

Be careful what you wish for.

hate what America has represented. Freedom - check and balances.
But these evil bastards would be very comfortable with a dictator.
That is until they get locked up without any charges or ability to defend
themselves. Can' happen here - do not kid yourself.

  31. Erroll Says:

Unemployment Rate thinks that liberals have an "ungodly hatred for Bush and America". As Ben Affleck intimates, Bush, along with Rumsfeld and other members of his administration, should be tried in The Hague for crimes against humanity, for causing the deaths of over 100,000 innocent Iraqi civilians. That reasoning is not, as he puts it, ungodly hatred but justifiable hatred. To try and equate the Bush administration being held accountable for causing war and needless suffering of Iraqi civilians to wantonly advocating shooting people to death who are attempting to cross over into this country, either legal or illegal, is beyond absurd.

  32. Red Says:

#30 - SFTU. You would be no match - trust me. Hide behind your blog, little boy.

I am leaving the "Bush is Hitler party" to go mock you somewhere else. Mocking liberals is fun - and very easy.

  35. ibid Says:

#7 - Ben Affleck and Mary Landrieu will not be able to do those things. Even whether they truly want to is debatable, but the fact that they can't and they know it shows they aren't making credible threats. This guy has a specific, doable plan . Even if he doesn't want to do it, he is encouraging others to do so, suggesting it would be fun even as he is supposedly trying to back off (although he doesn't say he doesn't advocate it, just that the station doesn't -- whose advice do you think his listeners are more likely to follow?). I don't know whether one situation is against the law and one is not, I'm just speaking from common sense here.

Seriously, if you find yourself if the position of trying to defend someone who says shooting people is fun you should probably stay out of the argument.

  36. And You Thought REAGAN Was Stupid Says:

#33. Good point. Perhaps even an intellectual lightweight like "Unemployment" would realize that a trial is a whole different animal than advocating the use of a sniper rifle to kill people crossing the border.

Personally, I'd like to see someone use a sniper rifle against conservative mouthpieces who continue to spout the same trite talking points day after day, even after their viewpoints have been shown to be inaccurate and their policies failures. Shoot 'em in the head, I say . . . of course, satirically.

  37. And You Thought REAGAN Was Stupid Says:

  42. anonymous Says:

Has this been denounced by Republicans? Has Tom Tancredo denounced it? Has John McCain? Has President Bush?

This radio host claims he speaks for conservatives--does he speak for them? Do they agree with him? Is this mainstream conservatism?

Has the Republican leadership asked the FCC to even investigate? I'm sure they've investigated people for joking about killing the President--is this less important? Do Republicans think this is protected speech? Do they not only think that illegal immigrants are felons, but that they should be summarily shot without even the right to trial that criminals get? Even Al Quaeda gets a trial, but a Mexican looking for a job? I guess not.

Welcome to the modern Republican party.

Alternate image: James, in a Twilight Zone episode, getting his wish then ending up alone in the middle of the desert at the wrong end of a sniper rifle.

  60. Liberal and Loving It Says:

It's a shame to read the vituerative commentary that appears from BOTH sides on blogs like this. Threatening to beat people up for their opinions doesn't do anybody any good. When individuals like Unemployment Rate decide to show up, I'd like to see them treated with respect, but trenchantly argued against. And if the comments become inflamatory, don't take the bait. If there's anything we need in this country, it's civility, and actual discourse as opposed to quarreling. Perhaps then wackos like this radio host and Ann Coulter will receive the type of attention that they actually deserve: which is to be completely ignored.*

*And that's not to say that things like this shouldn't be legally examined if a crime was committed, which may have happened in this case.

  61. big papa Says:

If I was a liberal talk radio host, and I said something on the air similar too:

"folks these evangelical conservatives are trying to make us into a christian fundamentalist state. I think we should pick a random sunday, and wait outside with sniper rifles, and off them as they leave church."

I think there would be a few people upset about that statement don't you?

  63. owlbear1 Says:

Can you really not see the difference?

I'm no longer proud to be an American. This country has had a long history of racism and murder, going all the way back to the European discovery of it.The 1960's brought hope,(civil rights movement)and despair(the vietnam war) but back them I had high hopes the country was, slowly, overall moving in the right direction,The came Reagan, which brought in a "NEW DARK AGES",but Bushi s MUCH,MUCH worse.IF there is a major economic breakdown in this country is headed to a bloody civil war,and with the rightwing media dehumanizing liberals, leftist, and all non-whites a blood bath is on the way,HOW CAN ANYONE TOLERATE THIS HATEFUL,FASCIST REGIME.

  65. Peter in St. Paul Says:

On thread: No one should advocate killing border jumpers. I think we should follow the example of the Mexican government, who stringently patrol their southern border, and turn back illegals. Stop the breech of our southern border.

  67. Tundra Says:

I think there would be a few people upset about that statement don’t you?

I agree there would be upset people about it for sure. My point is, I don't think trying to get the government to stop speech is the best answer here. Sure write letters to advertisers, complain to the station, heck launch a smear campaign against him.

This blog often states how the country is turning into a facist controlled country and there are several posts that are trying to push it even more. Is what he said stupid? yuppers. But where do we draw the line on the First Amendment? I bet we could find several things on this site itself that would cross any line drawn. Should the government investigate and fine the person who runs this site? Not as far as I'm concerned.

  68. Tundra Says:

Ok, fine you are right, lets have you put down a list of what things should be illegal to say. Then we can hunt through a few blogs and point out all types of stuff to the FCC and see if we can't get a few shut down. I'd be willing to bet the ACLU won't touch this issue with a 10 foot pole either (Rightly so in my opinion). Why do we need government to settle everything?

  83. CP Says:

Complaints can be submitted on-line on-line to the FCC. Here is what I submitted to the FCC:

"On more than one occasion, Brian James, a KFYI 'personality,' has incited the murder of illegal immigrants crossing the U.S. border. I'm not sure what the FCC considers "indecent," but in my opinion incitement to commit murder ought to be on the list. Mr. James, and his station, have defended the speech as satirical, but anyone who has listened to the broadcasts can readily determine that this was not the case.

"KFYI is inciting murder. In these tense times along the border, I think it's particularly irresponsible. The FCC should consider a fine against the station that will convince KFYI that it will be to their financial disadvantage to do this again."

Not being a boozer and hooked on psychotropics and anti-depressants gives me the edge though. And I'm having a real hard time coming up with a president that GWB could best in a fist fight. Second term Reagan maybe.
/actually had an argument with a righttard over who would win in a fist fight, GWB or GEORGE MOTHEREFFING WASHINGTON!

  87. Hunter Morrow Says:

Isn't it already a crime to incite others to violence?
Telling Bubba, Cletus, and Jimbo to slap red-dots on their 30-06s and snipe some wetbacks sounds like inciting violence, doesn't it?
Saying illegals should be killed, it'd be fun, and here's how to do it=incitement.

  88. Bruce Gorton Says:

    Tundra

Actually that line was drawn a while back when a couple of KKK members took their leader at his word. (When Bennie Hays Said "If a black man can get away with killing a white man, we ought to be able to get away with killing a black man.")

After the two murderers were found guilty, the mother of the victim sued the United Klans of America and won, thereby bankrupting them and taking the land the organisation rested on. Theoretically the law shows that any immigrants whose family members get killed crossing the border may have a case for damages against the station where Brian James works, or Brian James himself, provided the killer happened to listen to that show.

~ Some soon to be unemployed radio person

Actually he's advocating taking over the job the US Border Patrol and Texas Rangers once did as part of their every day routine. If the violence against our Border Patrol agents and US citizens coming from the other side of the border continues to escalate they may just begin once again to handle intruders the old fashioned way. Adios amigo.

  92. Liberal and Loving It Says:

#76 - So you think that the systematic brutalization and murder of the indigenous peoples by Euro-Americans was morally right or at least excusable because of their different values? Violence is violence, no matter what lens you view it through. One of the reasons we examine the past is because many of the trends that existed in the past still live with us today, such as American Exceptionalism - the "noble" task of bringing republicanism to the "savages" of the world. This was a common excuse employed by the United States government as it appropriated the lands of Native Americans. And again, the old wine in new bottles is being brought out to justify our invasion and exploitation of Iraq.

There are certainly many things to be proud about in our past, but there are also many dark, blood-soaked stains upon our history. To deny the past is to deny who we are.

In fact, there was a case where a Marine stationed at the border shot an illegal and he was tried for murder.

Once again, I-Wrong-I, you have proven that you are a psychopathic moron.

  95. Krazny Says:

    Bruce,

it sounds like the station itself needs to get involved, not the FCC. If they station ended up facing serious lawsuits from the families of murdured Mexicans I think they would move to censor this dude. That would be an internal censor, not a government censor.

  96. Tundra Says:

    98,

I agree with Krazny here. Pressure the station, pressure the companies that advertise on the show. Assemble outside the station. Heck Sue the station in a civil court when some yahoo shoots anywhere near the border. Just don't give them more power than they aleady have.

  99. I-RIGHT-I Says:

#76 - So you think that the systematic brutalization and murder of the indigenous peoples by Euro-Americans was morally right or at least excusable because of their different values?

It was war, not murder. The fact that it wasn't a fair fight in no way makes the outcome any less moral than your blathering about the so-called murder of "indigenous" people. Liberal self loathing Dimwit.

Violence is violence, no matter what lens you view it through. And again, the old wine in new bottles is being brought out to justify our invasion and exploitation of Iraq.

It's funny how you left wing fucktards never mention the mass slaughter of tens of millions of "indigenous peoples" by the Russian and Chinese communists. That of course was a noble cause. Only America can be evil.

There are certainly many things to be proud about in our past, but there are also many dark, blood-soaked stains upon our history. To deny the past is to deny who we are.

Comment by Liberal and Loving It
Americans kick ass and take names and any blood that was shed on behalf of our country was blood well spent. To think and say otherwise is to show yourself to be a traitor to our country who defecates on the graves of our fallen heroes.

    Ladies and gentlemen,

I would suffice to say that the majority of us on this page do NOT live in the areas of the country most affected by "illegal aliens", or "Undocumented migrants" or, "Guest workers", if you will. To critcize comments that should or should not have been made in jest or otherwise, without feeling the affects of the problem is unwarranted.
Given: The speech/commentary was inflammatory, but which side isn't? Democrats hate conservatives, Republicans hate liberals...all news reports on either side are now coming from entertainers, not journalists. Don't kill them, but erect a wall with one door - and make them enter as "legals" - just like the majority of our ancestors did.
People of the United States, now is the time not for bickering...but for standing up for common sense.

Mr. James seriously advocates (until he proves otherwise) committing heinous crimes. There is no civility within him nor should there be any quarter for his ideas whatsoever, and yet, it's a debate?

Stand back and look at it and try to recall when anyone of logic in your upbringing said in some fashion or other that what Mr. James is inciting is either goodness or merciful!

Just thought I'd leave you folks with the form-letter response I received from the turds in charge at KFYI when I wrote to demand that James be fired. It makes perfect sense that they're a Clear Channel station.

    ============================================

Newstalk 550 KFYI in Phoenix is responding to Friday’s letter to the FCC from Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard and U.S. Attorney Paul Charlton, calling the letter an election-year political ploy that is an effort to muzzle free speech.

Program Director Laurie Cantillo says, "We are extremely disappointed that this letter was issued in the form of a ‘press release’ at 5:04 PM on a Friday, when neither Mr. Goddard nor Mr. Charlton were available for comment. The letter was written at the request of the Arizona Interfaith Network, which is not a charity but a left-wing political lobby with ties to organized labor. 550 KFYI is the only media outlet in the Valley that has been calling for secure borders, and we will fight this attempt to curtail our First Amendment freedoms."

Goddard and Charlton take issue with a March 8 evening broadcast, in which fill-in host Brian James satirically discusses "border roulette"--shooting anyone who crosses the U.S./Mexico border illegally one night a week. Cantillo says, "550 KFYI management does not condone violence as a solution to the illegal immigration problem. Mr. James was asked to issue a disclaimer within the same broadcast making it clear that KFYI does not endorse his comments. Listeners who heard the segment in context understood that the remarks were made in satire, as management has not received a single listener complaint."

The Goddard/Charlton letter does not reference which part of the U.S. Federal Code has been allegedly violated, and Cantillo notes, "We have concluded that no statute has been violated and that the letter is entirely without merit. The FCC customarily refrains from involving itself in the content of specific programs that might be regarded as program censorship. Mr. Goddard and Mr. Charlton have fallen prey to a political ploy to drum up support for the April 10 pro-immigration rally."

"We take our responsibility as broadcasters very seriously," says Cantillo, "We have provided balanced news coverage on the immigration issue and our hosts have a wide range of opinions as to how to solve the problem of illegal immigration. We welcome all viewpoints and encourage healthy debate on this serious issue. I am proud to live in a country that affords free speech rights to even those who are here illegally. Broadcasters need to have the same rights."

    ===========================================

Boycott. But more than that, spread the word as widely as possible that Clear Channel thinks it's important to promote the rantings of a man who believes that murder is an acceptable response to illegal immigration.

  135. Alexander Says:

I just wrote KFYI. I live in Arizona and I find this a total and complete embarassment to this state. My letter:

Advocating the cold-blooded murder of ANYONE over the public airwaves is unacceptable and should not be tolerated by the radio station's owners.

James' comments, "What we’ll do is randomly pick one night - every week - where we will kill whoever crosses the border. Step over there and you die. You get to decide whether it’s your lucky night or not. I think that would be more fun…[I’d be] happy to sit there with my high-powered rifle and my night scope," are not acceptable.

I repeat. THEY ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.

I know that KFYI thrives on right-wing lunacy, but these comments have crossed the line. How long do you think he'd be allowed to remain on the air should he advocate--say--murder of an elected official, or a public servant like a policeman. Adding to the stench that's rising from the broadcasting booth is the overt, outright racism inherent in his comments.

    THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

James must make a public apology and then be premanently removed from his position at the station.

  136. Jim Lehman Says:

A much simpler solution would be to train all of those unwanted children in "expensive" Foster Care to be Border Guards! It would reduce taxes because we would not have to pay people to house and feed them; nor would we have to educate them to read and write; they would only need to be trained to shoot "Brown People" crossing the Border! They could work 12/7 and would only require Beans and Tortillas, some Video Games, and a cot in one of Sheriff Jokes infamous tents! As an added plus, they would be less of a social burden since most Foster Children end up as "Homeless" after they are tossed onto the street when they turn 18!

What Affleck said the other night was that Bush's crimes could be judged treasonous in court and if so, he could be hanged. He did not advocate hanging Bush as someone here claimed. As for Mary Landrieu saying she felt like punching him in the nose for his lack of response to Katrina, that hardly equates to a rifle aimed to kill on sight.

  165. Erik Says:

This is not simply advocating murder, this is advocating ethnic cleansing. That is what is behind this.

  166. Ryan Neat Says:

    shoelimpy,

Your ignorance is TYPICAL of the reichwinger Nazis of the republican party. Here's a story from the economist that shows you're a FOOL. On the Mexico Guatemala border, Mexico has the same problem with illegals as the US does. And while abuse does occur (as it does in the US), the Mexican government recognizes human rights, and even has personnel stationed there to help the illegals KNOW THEIR RIGHTS. And ironically it was the US that told mexico to deploy more police on the border to keep out guatemalans that might have drugs and weapons out of the country.

    http://www.economist.com/world/la/displayStory.cfm?story_id=2388487

Is stupid a requirement of being a republican - or is it a happy accident you found the correct political party to represent your values?

  167. Ryan Neat Says:

    Erik,

Republicans are reichwing nazis, so ethnic cleansing is part and parcel to their natural philosophies. Don't be surprised. Sooner or later they have to find some scapegoat to blame, and some (if not all) ethnic groups they don't like to cleanse. It looked like the Arabs/Muslims for a while, then it looked like the gays, now it's looking like the mexicans are the latest nazi targets. If we had lots of gypsies in the US, they would have already been on the short list.

Without a scapegoat to blame for economic and social uncertainties - the whole Nazi / Republican approach to power and its exercise don't work. It's all based on divide, fear, attack and hate. It's what they did in the 1920s & 1930s in europe, and we've got a repeat today with the modern nazis. The evangelicals helped Hitler rise to power, just as they helped bush. It's 'their way'.

  168. Liberal and Loving It Says:

164 - I don't see your point. Are you trying to fulminate against the study of the history of imperialism and exploitation? And I don't know what you mean by angst and collective guilt. I think that such things don't really get you anywhere. There is a big difference between knowledge and self-flagellation.

There were a few colonists who didn't brutalize Native Americans, such as William Penn. But yes, overall colonialism was and is a terrible bloody thing. What are you trying to argue? Just because numerous nations engaged in it doesn't make it right. Hopefully we will have the foresight to prevent our government engaging in such things in the future.

Criminal behavior doesn't justify the outcome. Much of america's great fortunes were from criminal minds and criminal activity. You say that these families shouldn't feel guilt and shame for their past - that's true. However if they currently engage in those criminal activities they should. Justifying past failures of individuals or countries as 'the way it is', is like accepting slavery as 'good' because we've done it in the past. It's obscenely pessimistic, and disgustingly immoral. You say my comments are overwhelmingly negative, eh? Well, I say that I am proud to live in a country built upon the principles of self-rule and personal freedom. I am proud that our country stands up for these ideals. But I am also aware that our government is doing many things that I and many others on both sides of the political divide believe are un-American and antithetical to the vision of our founders, like engaging in spying upon our citizens without warrants, and supporting tyrannical regimes.

I can't think of anything more patriotic than to stand up for what our founding fathers fought so hard to achieve.

You may disagree with me, but don't call me unpatriotic. Don't call liberals unpatriotic. I don't know about you, but I believe in standing up for what I is best for this county, regardless of who came up with the idea. We may disagree on what that is, and if so, let's discuss it in a civilized manner.

Why do I think that nothing's going to happen?? Could it be because KFYI's listenership will probably greatly increase due to the offensive comments by that Nazi host, James? We had a similar situation in Milwaukee when a similar right-wing talk show host, Mark Belling, referred to Latino's as "wetback" on the air, & the was a lot of sound & fury, but nothing happened to that host either.

"You got to go out there and just smother them. You got to kill them. That's the only way you can do business. Abu Ghraibs aren't tough enough for people like that. You just have to kill them. . Sussman show Hot talk 560 KSFO 808-5600." 3/14/2006 ( link 23 second Windows audio clip.)

    - Brian Sussman, Talk show host, KSFO 560 AM San Francisco speaking about an estimated 10 million Muslims he has determined are on a jihad to kill "the infidel".

    Why is THAT okay?

Here is the audio clip where he said what we need to do with the estimated 10 million Muslims that are out to kill us.
    http://s88172659.onlinehome.us/shortKSFO560AMSussmanMuslimsYoujusthavetokillthem03142006H18M06.wma

Of course he also things it should be preemptive. That is another why that he works to incite violence.

    http://s88172659.onlinehome.us/2006/03/brian-sussman-you-just-have-to-kill.html

I guess because we are "at war" with the Muslims it is okay for him to say this.

Pretty grim quote eh? But check it out, this constitutes progress with Brian Sussman. After losing 8 major national advertisers he has modified his rhetoric somewhat. It only took 6 months and who knows know much lost advertising revenue for KSFO for him to slightly modify his hate vectors (I wonder if the sales people who lost their Christmas bonus because of his comments are still buddies with him?) So now instead of insulting all Muslims (even going to the extreme of insulting people who just SOUND like Muslims) he recommends we only have to kill the 10 million he estimates are out to kill us. Now I don't know what faith Sussman actually practices, because this doesn't sound like any Christian faith I'm familiar with.

  189. LDS Says:

Shoot a Neo-Con and live. let him live and your children dies, in the next battlefield......

  190. The Oracle Says:

    Gee, what would Jesus do????

Yep, I can see Jesus with his 50 caliber rifle with a night scope sitting close to the U.S./Mexico border and popping one into the heads of people crossing it. And Jesus would laugh. Pop. And Jesus would laugh. Pop. And Jesus would laugh just like Brian James would laugh. Even though the person being popped might be an undercover INS agent. Or a young, innocent Mexican child. Yep, Jesus would laugh just like Brian James is laughing about killing people.

    So, let's get something straight.

    War is Hell.

George W. Bush is the War President. Therefore, he is also the Hell President. Brian James, like so many others, supports the Hell President.

On the other hand, Jesus Christ was and is the Prince of Peace. Thus, if Jesus were president, Jesus would be the Peace President.

George W. Bush is the War President, which makes him also the Hell President. He is hardly a Christian, or follower of Jesus, the Prince of Peace.

The supporters of George W. Bush, the Hell President, therefore are not Christian either, especially Brian James who views killing people as a joking matter.

So, the followers of George W. Bush, the War/Hell President are actually anti-peace and anti-Jesus, which definitely means they are non-Christians. And I don't care how many times they claim they've been saved or born again or go to church or whatever, their support of the War/Hell President proves that they haven't a clue about Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace.

  191. Proud Supporter of OUR Country, the US of AMERICA Says:

One of my Grandfathers was an immigrant from Ireland. If it weren't for that I wouldn't have the PRIVILAGE of being here in America. And when he arrived here, he made himself known, became a LEGAL American citizen, paid his taxes like everyone else, and actually contributed to the American way. One of my Grandmother's parents did the same thing, except they immigrated from Germany. They made themselves know, became LEGAL American citizens, paid taxes and contributed like other American citizens. Thank God for immigration. Thank You, God, for the blessing of being born as an American!

I know two very large Mexican families who immigrated from Mexico by virtue of having their babies here on American soil many years ago. They didn't ask for handouts, freebies, or for anyone here to support them. They made themselves known, worked hard at obtaining their LEGAL American citizenships through the proper channels, they worked hard at their jobs and paid their taxes and actually contributed to the American society. They are proud to be Americans. I am proud to know them and happy that they all live here in American. What a blessing. And any one of them would agree, any one of them would tell you it's not a right to be here...but a PRIVILAGE. Yes, indeed it is! I am all for immigration...it diversifies and enriches our lives...and blesses us with people who will be a part of our lives forever.

What I am NOT for are those who come here looking for a "free ride" at the American citizens' expense. I would not allow my own sibbling to mooch off me. If I were providing anything for my own sibbling and could clearly see that they were freeloading, I would kick 'em out in a heartbeat. I will not be an enabler to such behavior. Therefore, I do not like being FORCED to let people I don't even know -all of whom aren't even LEGAL Americans- mooch off of me, my taxes, or my country. To add insult to injury, the ILLEGAL immigrants in our country now are showing us that they can bite the hand that feeds them and get away with it.

I personally listened to ALL of the few shows Brian James' did on KFYI recently and I heard quite a different message than the Liberal media is selectively putting out. Yes, Mr. James was joking satirically...maybe a little ballsy, but he clearly wanted to be heard. And yes, he DID in fact include a disclaimer with that broadcast (the one about the shooting bit) that he nor KFYI advocated shooting any illegal tresspassers...the Liberalist who started all of this knew that most of you didn't listen to his show so they dicided to omit that part. Yes, that means Terry Goddard's letter is technically incorrect...but looking stupid to the FCC is his perrogative. They will get a copy of the show in its ENTIRETY from the station and they'll hear the disclaimer for themselves. But that's besides my point and really not worth arguing about.

My point is that over the course of a few shows, Brian James' message was quite clear and actually quite simple, (I guess I am part of the listening population who was smart enough to hear and understand it,): Mr. James' message was that he has a serious problem with so many people crossing our (apparently very unprotected) borders ILLEGALLY and then for the most part doing nothing more than costing the American LEGAL citizens so much money. They aren't making themselves known, they aren't obtaining LEGAL status, and they aren't paying taxes....instead they are freeloading off of all of us tax-paying Americans. Mr. James' also expressed having a problem with the approximate 200,000 non-Mexicans, many from known terrorist-harboring countries, crossing our southern borders too, which is a clear threat to our Nation's security. However he chose to make his point is one thing... but let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater here. ILLEGAL immigration IS a problem no matter how you look at it.

We need to seriously tighten our borders (and MEAN it, as was Brian James' point), prevent terrorists from getting in and to force those who in true earnest would like to immigrate and become American citizens, do so LEGALLY. If all of Mexico wants to immigrate...SUPER!!! But they (& anyone else) need to do so LEGALLY, they need to obtain legal US citizenship status within a given time period, and they MUST pay taxes and contribute as all other legal Americans have to do. If they do not do this, then they do not really want to be Americans, then at that time they should be deported back to the country from which they came. It is not right nor fair that anyone, regardless of ethnicity, be allowed to come into our country illegally and then mooch & freeload. Too many American families are struggling to support and feed their own children, how is it their job suddenly to support a bunch of illegal moochers? Why do these struggling American families who can barely afford medical insurance, if they can afford it at all, be forced to provide it for illegal immigrants? Why should doctors and nurses be forced to work for free? I don't ever recall a doctor saying that putting him/herself (and having gargantuan school loans to pay off)through medical school was for charity. This is America, and people here have American dreams...so if all these illegal immigrants want an American dream, then they need to start by ACTING like Americans first. They need to stop acting like they have more rights than citizens do. If American citizens forgoe medical treatments (as they often do) becasue they don't have insurance or no doctor will treat them for free...then guess what?!...NO illegal tresspasser should be getting free medical treatment either! It is their privilage to be standing on American soil and it's high time they start appreciating it.

My Grandparents didn't expect someone else to foot their bills. My Mexican-American friends didn't expect someone else to foot their bills either. One of them even told me he was ashamed of and embarrassed by his own people because of the way they freeload off of American society. That's enough to convince me.

It's not time to end immigration...I hope that never ends. But it IS time to end ILLEGAL immigration. It is time for these illegals, regardless of their ethnicity, to make themselves known, to actively obtain US citizenship through the proper channels, and to PAY TAXES...to PAY FOR THEIR OWN BILLS...it IS time to stop the financial bleeding of the American people, we have enough of our own problems, we shouldn't be forced into taking on theirs. I am sorry that our Grandfathers did not treat them right and just during the deportation in 1931....but that's not my fault and it's not my children's fault and we can't afford to pay for somebody else's wrongdoings from long before I was even born! I can welcome them now, but I will only do so if they are coming in LEGALLY and they PAY TAXES and start paying for their own damn bills...

Being a Republican, a Right-Winger, I can tell you that I happen to know many other Republicans (and Democrats for that matter) who hold the same opinions as I do. Anyone who says they are totally against immigration altogether just needs a copy of his/her own family tree...they might change their mind. Most of the Republicans I know are in favor of immigration....we are just sick of paying the freight for a bunch of freeloading moochers who won't live by Amercan laws and the same set of rules the rest of us do. (This might surprise some of you, but I actually know some Left-Wingers who feel exactly the same way.) We ALLOWED them to march our streets, (mind you, if we did this in Mexico we'd be thrown in prison for a year or two,) and still they demand hand-outs and "rights". If I were in charge down there, there'd be a whole lot of buses headed for Mexico right now just in repayment for their lack of gratitude.

As for the Left-Wingers who, instead of mentioning the radio braodcast when it actually happened, decided to carefully and very calculatively blow it out of proprtion just to create chaos just in time for your big immigration marches....you should all pull your heads out...it's really hard to tell which way the wind blows when they're so far up your @sses. If any one of you actually took the time to hear anything besides your own mouthes, you might actually hear that many of us have the same goals. So let's stop bickering like children and start focusing on what matters.

As for Mr. James...thank you for making a point that too many in this country are too chicken-sh*t to make!! (You should consider just spelling it out next time...obviously there are too many stupid people in this country whose brains don't have the capacity to follow along with a little insight.) And please, what ever you do, don't crap your pants in public...the rest of us have to breathe the air in this town too! (But I know you wouldn't...you would just grin because you've got people listening!)

"The Program Director Laurie Cantillo said the comment was a satirical characterization of the frustration felt by Americans over the issue of illegal immigration.
“The listeners who heard the full broadcast understood that,” said Cantillo, adding that she had not gotten a single listener complaint."

    Ms. Cantillo,

I am shocked beyond comprehension at, not only by Bryan James' comments, but by yours and KFYI's as well, in defense of those comments.

I don't suppose that the radio stations in Germany in 1938 got many complaints from those who objected to Nazi propaganda broadcasts either, but that doesn't mean they weren't reprehensible.

Advocating murder is not a free speech issue. There is no defending, explaining this away as if it were a First Amendment problem.

Calls for violent action, and incitements to commit murder are against the law.

The radio host from that Arizona radio station knows very well what he did is illegal -hence his attempt to pass it as a joke.

Yes, Tundra, it is true that Liberals and Democrats feel that Rebulicans should not be allowed to say anything they want. And if they disagree with a Republican's point, then they will go to any extreme to make mountians out of mole hills, scream about how they are being oppressed, and how evil and wrong the Republican is. HOWEVER, they also feel (and all of their actions/reactions/own words prove it) that THEY can say whatever they want to or about whomever they want.

A Lefty will make a HUGE issue over a remark (which was taken COMPLETELY out of context) that a Republican made about shooting someone (even though he was speaking tongue & cheek and probably would never, ever even think of REALLY shooting a human being)....but see, as we can ALL very CLEARLY see... Lefty's feel it is perfectly acceptable to talk about shooting Republicans, dragging them beihind trucks (which would surely kill them -isn't that murder?), and even shooting them point blank to the head. I even read something about a suggestion that someone should put a gun into Mr. James' mouth to shoot him. (Gee, talk about inciting speech.)

VERY INTERESTING. Lefty's are VERY full of DOUBLE STANDARDS!!!! But you know, they have political agendas to tend to...even if it means trashing their own integrity and making themselves look like foolish hypocrites.

I see that learning public incitement to violence and murder is illegal has startled you. Otherwise you wouldn't ask that question.

"[T]he constitutional guarantees of free speech and free press do not permit a State to forbid or regulate advocacy of the use of force or of law violation except where such advocacy is directed to inciting or producing imminent lawless action and is likely to incite or produce such action." (...)
[Brandenburg v. Ohio] gave rise to the Brandenburg test to determine when speech transgresses the line from mere advocacy, which is protected by the First Amendment, to incitement, which is not. That test anticipates that the unprotected speech intentionally produce a high likelihood of real imminent harm.

First Amendment Center - The First Amendment & Advocacy of Violence: An Overview

The key words here are "likely to produce such action".

Maybe these government officials (like Goddard) should leave Arizona and go get a job in Mexico.

I have nothing against people of other countries wanting to move to our country and make their way, but that's just it-- they need to MAKE THEIR OWN WAY just like everyone else in this country. It doesn't matter what political party we belong to, what ethnicity anyone is, what really matters is that if anyone wants to live in America as an American, then they must be required to follow American laws and pay taxes, etc. If someone doesn't want to do that then they can leave the country or live on the street, but they should not be entitled to free handouts and medical care that even Americans don't get just because they're whine louder. They are illegal and they are lucky to even be sleeping in the United States tonight.

We should all agree on that.

Boycot the radio station, boycot the advertisers, march on the station, find a picture of him with 2 dogs and a hamster and make posters. Apparently you are unaware that self-flagellation is a cornerstone in the celebration of the Holy Week rituals, during the re-enactement of the Passion of the Christ in many Latin American countries as well as the Philipines.

Celebrations in some countries include the crucifixion of a volunteer playing the part of Jesus Christ -minus the nails and the spear, but including the crown of thorns.

    See the difference?

  208. Tundra Says:

Me too! Stop taking my rights away, including speech.

I listened to the audio that was posted at the top and it was about as serious as anything else on talk radio. It was clearly a "Shock Jock" doing his thing. I honestly cannot see anyone thinking that was anything more than an extremist position to make a point.

Howard Stern pulled the same BS and the FCC was always all over him. Janets little move caused a delay in live broadcasting (Government required). Make it stop.

  209. Tundra Says:

We should replace harmful government agencies like the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) with more agile, free-market alternatives. The mission of the FDA is to protect us from unsafe medicines. In fact, the FDA has driven up healthcare costs and deprived millions of Americans of much-needed treatments. For example, during a 10-year delay in approving Propanolol Propranolol (a heart medication for treating angina and hypertension), approximately 100,000 people died who could have been treated with this lifesaving drug. Bureaucratic roadblocks kill sick Americans.

    http://www.lp.org/issues/healthcare.shtml

You could use that base model for any of them. Government spending is so wasteful and unorganized due to it's size. If you have ever worked in government you know how hard it is to get anything useful done. I don't think the government needs to be involved in every facet of my life. Am I advocating anarchy as you always put it, ummm no. Far from it.

  210. Tundra Says:

Sorry, but your list just shows how relevant and important government is to a civilized life to me for the most part.

Ok, that's fine. Personally I don't think the government always knows what is best for me. If there is a gap it will be filled. A company that makes a water testing kit. One that makes a cheaper one. A company that sets up water holding tanks and delivers at a cheaper cost than city water, that is also better quality/includes vitamins etc. Hard work and good old American innovation.

  212. Tundra Says:

Sorry, but government is BY THE PEOPLE, and while it isn’t perfect, until you can ‘vote’ for the leadership of a company for all those affected by that company - it’s a CRAPPY alternative to government. It’s corporate feudalism at best.

Have you been reading any of the news lately about the FDA? The drug company buy ins? 20% of the FDA budget is paid by drug companies then the excess cost goes into the drug? The members of pharmaceutical companies on the individual commitees?

We will obviously never agree on this one and it has moved much farther off topic then I originally intended. Plus it's real late and I'm falling asleep. We shall meet again in a new topic.

  213. Tundra Says:

All this does is argue for the need for a return to full government control of the FDA,

I'm glad that you trust Bush and friends so much that you think they should have full control over every aspect of your life. It's good to finally hear you say that he is honest and trustworthy and would never mess with your health. I never figured you would imply that Bush would not sell out your health for a buck to big drug companies.

  214. Tundra Says:

And Lastly how in the world did we end up with you defending the administration and me slamming them?

  215. Bruce Gorton Says:

    From the Top Tundra

You want the Government to regulate your food

This is because we don't want to get poisoned because the local shops sold us something which has either gone bad, or contains some form of toxin. You do not want cyanide in your food supply do you? (Not a threat, just reducto ad absurdum)

You want the Government to regulate your drugs

Of course, this is because a lot of drugs are dangerous. Most drugs are actually based off of poisons, and we want to minimise the risk of getting poisoned. This is not reducto ad absurdum, it is common sense. Oh, and the drug industry has a long proud history of selling snake oil.

You want the Government to regulate what your children learn or don’t in school

Not exactly. We don't want our schools to be teaching religion, as religion is not the states responsibility but rather the ambit of the church/temple/schul.

You want the Government to regulate your water

Okay, this may startle you, but water, being something you ingest, actually has a direct impact on life and death. Again it is common sense.

You want the Government to regulate your healthcare

Of course, if you want your doctor to be a doctor just because he says he's a doctor, that is entirely up to you.

You want the Government to regulate the max speed limit in your state

Actually, quite a few leftwingers believe it best if we all went onto the German method, which is basically just to regulate how fast cars can be built to go in the first place.

You want the Government to regulate how many miles a gallon your car gets

Pretty much really. Quality control standards are not actually an issue you are going to win on, most of them are fairly common sense.

You want the Government to regulate if you can smoke in public

Nope, I actually disagree with the anti-smoking legislation which is on the books in my country, I kind of feel it is a waste of time and an invitation to take the law less seriously. When you have unenforceable laws, the law becomes that much easier to break.

You want the Government to regulate when/if telemarketers can call

Nope, we want the government just to eliminate telemarketers, they are annoying. They should go after door to door salesmen while they are at it.

You want the Government to regulate how a chicken for food gets killed

We don't advocate cruelty to animals, your point?

You want the Government to regulate how large a company can get

Monopolies drive prices up while driving quality down. It isn't so much a case of how large the company is, as to whether anybody with a better product can enter the market and compete with the said company.

You want the Government to regulate how many gallons of water it takes to flush your toilet

Again, quality control issues aren't exactly issues of hot debate. Most are based on common sense, such as having enough water to go around.

You want the Government to regulate how many fire extinguishers you have at work

You can always get more the the government minimum, oh, and if you are arguing against building regulations, we also want government to inspect buildings in order to make sure we don't buy into one which is about to fall down.

You want the Government to regulate how many smoke detectors are in your house

If there is a fire, a smoke detector is handy- it tells you the fire is there.

You want the Government to regulate what’s in your dogs food

We don't want our pets to get food poisoning any more then we want to get food poisoning.

You want the Government to regulate how your house is built

Well, we also don't want our house to fall down the first time someone closes a door. Your point being?

You want the Government to regulate where your tax dollars go

Well, their wouldn't be much point to paying taxes if they didn't go anywhere, and not having internal control measures in place would basically be an invitation for any government official to steal. You don't want to see what kind of a mess companies which lack internal controls get themselves into.

You want the Government to regulate how your boss allows you time off

We want the government to make sure our boss gives us time off.

You want the Government to regulate how long a trucker can drive

Common sense issue: If you drive too long and get sleepy you are about as good on the road as a guy whose just gone on a bender. It is a matter of reducing the number of accidents.

You want the Government to regulate how your bank handles your transactions

Come to sunny South Africa, take a look at our banks and the various charges they charge simply because they can get away with it, and tell me that banking laws are a bad thing. Heck, study your own history and look into the Great Depression and tell me that banking laws are a bad thing.

You want the Government to regulate your alcohol

This could be a food poisoning issue, or a means of preventing accidents issue. Depends on which way you mean it.

You want the Government to regulate the paint in your house

Yeah, ever since we learned that certain paints contain toxins, which can and do cause cancer.

You want the Government to regulate how flammable your jammies are

Maybe because we don't want to get incinerated in our sleep?

You want the Government to regulate what can show on TV stations

Well, we don't want our kids to be watching an episode of Sesame street and then have it jump straight into hardcore porn if that's what you mean. We also want the news to at least try to tell the truth, rather then act as the propaganda arm of whoever is paying them.

You want the Government to regulate what can be heard on the radio

    See above.

You want the Government to regulate what shots your cat has

Our neighbours don't want our sick cat to get their cat sick, and vice versa.

You want the Government to regulate who can send you email

See telemarketers, its the same issue.

You want the Government to regulate interest rates on credit cards

Come to sunny South Africa, and tell me your banking laws are a bad thing.

You want the Government to regulate what marriage is

No, we want government to de-regulate what marriage is.

You want the Government to regulate your retirement money

Nope, we just want the government to give us some.

You want the Government to regulate how you protect your family

Again, nope, we just want the government to lend a hand.

You want the Government to regulate how you send a letter

Nope, we just want the postal service to do its job. There are plenty of other means of sending a letter.

You want the Government to regulate what a baseball player uses to hit homeruns

No, actually that is the job of the specific sport's governing body.

You want the Government to regulate if you are allowed to die

Nope. We want the government to allow people who want to die, to die (in other words, de-regulate.)

But you get upset when they listen to your telephone conversations.

That is because the law currently says otherwise, all of these other laws had to be argued in, Bush just went ahead and did it. If he had gotten a warrant, he would have been fine, but he didn't.

Government has its good points, but just like anything else, it bares watching or it gets out of hand.

    Mighty Hypocrite,
I had never heard of http://www.aztlan.net until a man who describes himself as generally conservative and who used to be an executive in a well-known multi-national company started sending me some of its articles now and then. I was appalled by aztlan's virulent anti-semitism and protested not only to the man who forwarded me the articles but also wrote a letter to aztlan itself to point out some of the many facts it twisted--paritcularly to make Jews look bad. The same semi-retired executive also once forwarded to me and many other people on his mailing list an article by David Duke; I had to tell him that Duke used to head the Ku Klux Klan.
But the truth is most of my liberal friends have never even heard of the aztlan site. So your attempt to link progressives/liberals to one loony group, which is not even leftist but strangely Hispanic-racist, is ludicrous. And if you really do think all liberals/progressives are obligated to protest to aztlan, shouldn't people like yourself be even more obligated to protest to Repugnacan anti-Semites like David Duke and Pat Buchanan, both of whom are certainly more famous, and in Buchanan's case, definitely get more air time than Voz de Aztlan?

  229. Zoser Says:

He had a point of view, shooting illegal immigrants once a week, and as vile as some of you think that is we must remember he has a right to do so.

This is what pisses me off about both parties' extreme elements. Nearly everyone on here calling for the man to be fired or resign because of his opinion -- one you don't like, therefore, gosh, it, along with him, must go. He's permitted his opinion.

And, by the way, the people which are the subject are illegally crossing an international border . . . emmm, shooting them isn't murder, it's upholding existing law the same as all other industrialized nations do.

If you're all so liberal, compassionate, and open hearted why not open the airports so Mexicans can -- safely -- fly in? No more dying in the desert, no more terrible death by dehydration, no more children dying during river crossings, etc. Why not? I don't get it. What's the double standard for? Billions of dollars spent and public out cry for border security at airports and sea ports but no true secure border with a contiguous country. How is this an argument any of you can put forth let alone bolster?

I'm from the UK, I followed the legal process to get into this country. So should they. Then we'll know, as best we can, who they are, where they are, why they want in, what value they bring to the community and industry.

There is absolutely nothing wrong whatsoever with letting any other national into the US, especially those escaping persecution and/or poverty. But process must be followed. Security must be implemented and enforced, even a child knows this. Once secure, process refined/revised, then realistically address the illegal immigrants in the country which have no doubt put down quasi permanent roots and, hopefully, for the majority of them, are living constructive and contributing lives.

But right now, unless you're on the border, unless you're researching, interviewing and indeed investigating each and every illegal border crosser -- you don't know who the hell they are.

Which is the very same reason you lock your home's front door, right?

This is a very big issue here in California and may decide elections both special elections (we have one today), primaries, and the general election in November.

Our Governator, Schwarzenegger, has been trying to play both sides against the middle and not saying anything of substance. He had an op-ed piece in yesterday's Wall Street Journal and one last week in the LAT Times.

I took him to task for what he claimed he did on state issues. If you want to see an interesting article on that, check out the California Progress Report, and the April 3 article in the archives "Why Schwarzenegger is like a deer caught in the headlights on immigration." I also have another piece on where our governor has been in the past and what he's trying to do about that in positioning himself on immigration.

Prop 187, which our state's voters passed in 1994 got the Democrats the Latino vote and has held for years. It is the equivalent of what the Republicans did in 1928 to the Catholics and Al Smith. Catholics were strongly Democratic for the next 50 years.

Shooting someone in an act other than self-defence is murder. Illegal entry to the US is not punishable by death.

If you’re all so liberal, compassionate, and open hearted why not open the airports so Mexicans can — safely — fly in?

Strawman. Nobody is advocating illegal alliens to be allowed in. We are all trying to find a solution that does not involve mass murder.

No more dying in the desert, no more terrible death by dehydration, no more children dying during river crossings, etc. Why not? I don’t get it. What’s the double standard for?

This can also be achieved by upholding actual, existing laws (not the ones you made up): Prosecute those who hire illegal aliens. Fine them.

What double standard are you talking about?

Billions of dollars spent and public out cry for border security at airports and sea ports but no true secure border with a contiguous country. How is this an argument any of you can put forth let alone bolster?

    Another strawman.

There is absolutely nothing wrong whatsoever with letting any other national into the US, especially those escaping persecution and/or poverty. But process must be followed.

Process must also be followed in enforcing the law. Wantonly shooting illegal aliens is not part of that process.

In the majority of industrialized countries -- specific to border infringement/illegal crossings -- if A) and B) are true the likelihood is the person would be shot. And it wouldn't be murder.

*Well, I think this a a little bit over the top on the first point, but yes, I would agree that some people don't give capitalism a fair hearing and only focus on the negatives. On the second point, I think that a distinction needs to be made between criticizm of the government and criticism of the county. I feel that it's a shame that some on the right characterize those on the left who don't support the Iraq War or other things as unpatriotic. I was against the war because I thought it would be a complete disaster for our country. Unfortunately, the current political climate is nasty, and divisive tactics like this are utilized. You make this point later, and I totally agree with you.

Socialism - whether under the guise of benevolent “progressivism” or corrupt “totalitarianism”, forgets the motivation AND talents of the individual. (See: Parisian labour “protests”)"

*I agree with you, capitalism is the best practical system that we have come up with so far. Although I would guess that you disagree judging from your more conservative ideas expressed here (although I could be wrong), I think that we need a lot more regulation of our economy to prevent abuses and to keep the market more open to everybody. I also think that a more even distribution of capital is good for everybody. This is not to say that the distribution of wealth should be perfectly equal - in a perfect world it would be great, but it is naive to think that this is achievable anytime soon, or even possible due to human nature.

"Re: your assertions about NSA wiretaps - let’s back Senator Feingold’s censure “manuver” of the President and see how that turns out. It's really easy to just throw decency to the wind and behave in a dispicable manner due to the anonymity of forums such as these. Debate can and should get intense, but civility should always be observed. I like to think of people who say stupid things like this: just let them speak for themselves. You don't need to say anything, because their speech is incriminating enough as it is. And yes, you may engage in these tactics too, but I would consider rising above the nastiness.

*Indeed. I'm glad we agree on these things. I bet we agree on a lot of things actually, although because I'm guessing that you tend to think more conservatively that naturally there would be some major differences on some big points. We need to listen to each other, and work together to reach compromises on these differences. Perhaps more things would get done if our politicians actually did these things, on both sides.

I should probably stop using the handle "liberal and loving it." These labels don't really help us either. Sure I tilt to the left in a major way on the political spectrum, but I am open to any reasonable idea.

The US is not like the "majority of industrialised countries". If you are talking about civilians taking up border control, that is called vigilantism and is (not yet) legal.

If you are talking law enforcement officers, they are usually barred from using lethal force unless there is impending life-threatening danger; an unarmed, tired, dehydrated illegal alien on foot presents no such threat.

Either way, illegal crossing international borders is not punishable by death. Executing someone because of that act would be murder.

And, why stop at the border? Why not shoot the illegal aliens on the spot wherever you find them: At schools, restaurants, hotels, diary farms, tomato fields, high tech industry? Who says illegals only cross from Mexico? How about all those Europeans, Asians who overstay their visas? Should we shoot them too? It wouldn't be murder. Why are you keen on shooting dark people only?

CRIMINALS in this country PROTESTED EN MASSE and We The People did nothing about it, and didn't even see it coming really, because we don't speak Spanish. Basically, if you're a minority, you can be seditious and racist, but God-fot-f-ing-Bid you're white and want to protect your way of life and Standard of Living. You're simply a racist bigot then. Hypcracy breeds hatred, and I see a new revolution about to happen. Americans are PISSED!!

As a Democrat , and i am sick of you people letting these illegals get away with anything they want, thats the real crime, and at this point i can see why he said what he said! why do you care what a bunch of illegal aliens think? They think we are idiots! and suck us dry and smile while doing it! Why not think about what the american people think and want for a change, and that is the get these criminals out of our country and pass laws for protecting americans!

  258. james Says:

Let the border jumpers stay they actually work. Kick all the lazy ass americans on welfare back to mexico.

  259. dl Says:

Make is a law to use deadly force as required and then there will be no border crossing problem - create a guest worker program - make sure they pay taxes on everything they get like us all. Everything is good, fair and balanced; I wouldn't dream of sneaking into a country no matter what the cause without getting shot at or thrown in jail for a long time. Everyone needs a reality check.

  260. B.T. Says:

I think we should shoot them with rubber bullets or use tasers on them. They are stealing everything we have economically and culturally. WE MUST STOP THEM BEFORE ITS TOO LATE!!!!!!! They are trampling over what our ancestors fought for. I'm sure our Founding Fathers would not have put up with this crap! Maybe I will just make myself into a "undocumented border patrol agent".

  261. Ben Says:

About time someone have a brilliant idea on how to handle illegal immigrants. Our own government can't even come up with a proper solution to the ever growing problem!
