“Josh Bolten and I often worked together during the George H.W. Bush administration… a couple of years into the current administration, I saw him at a reception. I had just started writing some mildly critical things about some of Mr. Bush’s policies. … I was taken aback when I went up to Mr. Bolten to say hello and he pointedly turned his back on me and walked away. I guess he thought he was punishing me for my criticism.” (HT: Brad DeLong)
Were all these guys picked on in high school? Jesus they are so immature. I thought the “adults” were going to be “in charge”.
April 12th, 2006 at 1:47 pmMust. Be. Punished. For. All. Criticism. And. Dissent.
April 12th, 2006 at 1:51 pmDanger, Will Robinson, danger!!
Given that this single-mindedness and unwillingness to re-evaluate plans based upon data has worked so well, why again do we hate “flip-floppers”?
April 12th, 2006 at 2:09 pmLet me get this straight.
April 12th, 2006 at 2:10 pmThe bozo who oversees OMB’s approval to send
our Country into trillions of dollars of debt is
offended by anyone criticizing him?
He’s already being rewarded by the Shrub…
I think it’s our job to remind him how much he sucks.
BOLTON…YOU SUCK!
Times Select sucks….I’m not paying to see their crap.
Bolton – jesus what a freeper. God help us all.
April 12th, 2006 at 2:10 pmsounds par for the course for this administration… punish and attempt to discredit anyone who disagrees
April 12th, 2006 at 2:18 pm#5: Times Select sucks….I’m not paying to see their crap.
April 12th, 2006 at 2:19 pmSpeaking of TimesSelect, funny Dowd line this morning: “To paraphrase Raymond Chandler, if brains were elastic, these guys {BushCo} wouldn’t have enough to make suspenders for a parakeet.”
This is how the administration has managed to get the MSM in its pocket: criticism = cut off.
April 12th, 2006 at 2:32 pmBadmoodman – I will READ cut & pasting from Times Select. I’m not above that. I actually used to have a Times logon prior to them charging for the “privlidge”. But call me cheap, I don’t care, there are very few writers working for the Times I’d pay to read. Same goes for the Wash Po, the WSJ, the LA Times.
I pay for the SF Chronicle, Rolling Stone, The Smithsonian, Time. My house also recieves one of the local newpapers, but won’t recommend the Bee for anyone who values their mind.
I should pay for the SJ Mercury, but alas don’t.
So please, copy & paste stuff for cheapskates like me….
April 12th, 2006 at 2:37 pmWow–just like high school. I guess that’s when Bartlett figured out he wasn’t part of the cool crowd anymore…
April 12th, 2006 at 2:51 pmDidin’t this guy get the memo? Doesn’t he know who he is dealing with? These guys are worst than Nixon. They make Tricky Dick look like a boy scout. He can’t possibly think the can drop a dime and get the good ole boy treatment can he? If you criticise these guys, you’d better look over your shoulder and check under the bed at night. I wouldn’t be worried about a snob, I’d be watching to make sure they didn’t try to attack me by using leaks to say he is a member of the skin heads for something. The dirty tricks guys have him on the top of the list now right along with all of those who criticize this administration. Tricky Dick would be proud of these guys, they wrote the book on dirty tricks and getting even with political enemies.
April 12th, 2006 at 3:08 pmAn administration official is an asshole? What a shocker! Next, we’ll find out they’re dishonest…

The only people who can’t confront their critics are those who don’t have the courage to stand up for what they believe in. What else would you expect from the chickenhawk administration.
April 12th, 2006 at 3:40 pmits called “shunning”. thats what happens to cult members that leave the compound and return to the real world.
April 12th, 2006 at 3:41 pmbartlett shouldn’t be so surprised. fraternizing with those who haven’t drunk the kool-aid is a no no.
April 12th, 2006 at 10:44 pmDoes Bartlett mean this Josh Bolten (Bolton)?
CNN – 9/11/02 – Report by WH Suckup and Karl Rove bootlicker John King
“After the planes struck the twin towers, a third took a chunk out of the Pentagon. Cheney then heard a report that a plane over Pennsylvania was heading for Washington. A military assistant asked Cheney twice for authority to shoot it down.
April 12th, 2006 at 10:50 pm“The vice president said yes again,” remembered Josh Bolton, deputy White House chief of staff. “And the aide then asked a third time. He said, ‘Just confirming, sir, authority to engage?’ And the vice president — his voice got a little annoyed
then — said, ‘I said yes.’”
