Bush: Rumsfeld doing a heckuva job.

President Bush has released a statement of support: “Secretary Rumsfeld’s energetic and steady leadership is exactly what is needed at this critical period. He has my full support and deepest appreciation.”

Blah blah blah blah blah blah

  2. Jane E. Schneider says:

Yeah, he’s doing a heck of a job ignoring and pissing off the generals!

  3. Badmoodman says:

If only Bush had said he backed He-Who-Should-Be-Fired “1000 percent,” like McGovern did for Eagleton, we might hope he’d get the ax three days from now.

  4. Fool Zero says:

So does that mean Rumsfeld is about to announce he needs to spend more time with his family?

I wonder if he’ll get the Presidential Medal of Failure… er, Freedom.

  5. Andrew says:

Doing exactly what the voices in Bush’s head tell you is doing a heckuva job!

  6. Joe Sixpack says:

Spudge, one thing before I forget from other post: While I refer to myself at times as a rightwing, conservative dipshit, I don’t think I ever called myself a Rupublican.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but even a lowlife like me has some pride, damn it.

  7. Ben says:

I am quite convinced that Bush is a robot stuck in repeat mode.

  8. Blue State Red says:

For a good critique of the griping generals, and how their gripes are related to Rumsfeld’s “heckuva job” go to http://biglizards.net/blog/archives/2006/04/grumbles_from_t.html

  9. Spudge_Boy says:

    Joe Sixpack,

    Heh

  10. Joe Bua says:

Just a tool. Just a tool.

  11. Jules says:

If Rumsfeld had one ounce of pride..just a tiny piece of a conscience..any regard whatsoever for our troops….oh…sorry, forgot, those things are withdrawn upon receiving your red card.

  12. SiriusA says:

“Secretary Rumsfeld’s energetic and steady leadership is exactly what is needed at this critical period. He has my full support and deepest appreciation.”

Are we to take that “exactly what is needed” is running contrary to all logic and historic lessons, acting in spite of all scholarly theory and singlehandedly wrestling the military power of this nation from those most steeped in it’s traditions and accomplishments?

I continue to maintain that the only theory to explain what in hell these guys are up to is that they want the rest of the world to think the U.S. has gone off the deep end and that yes, we might even be willing to blow the planet to smithereens. From here on in, I’m calling this the “LETHAL WEAPON” theory (after the ‘looney’ character played by Mel Gibson in the movie.

In fact, “LETHAL WEAPON” is about as good a term to describe this bunch as any, huh?

  13. Hardy Haberman says:

I am waiting for the day when Cheney gives Bush that comment, “George, you’re doing a heck of a job!” That will mean he has already packed and he and Laura are on their way back to Crawford.

  14. Joe Sixpack says:

In reading the heckofa letter Bush wrote in the above post, it sounds almost like a prelude leading up to giving out of yet another Presidential Medal of Freedom award.

You know, like the ones Bush gave to Paul Brenner, Tommy Franks, and George Tenet right after their services with the government were no longer required.

  15. Andy says:

Rumsfeld must have some dirt on Bush that could bring the whole house of cards down. Bush is afraid.

  16. wisedup says:

70% of America say’s your dead wrong bush, but never mind us, lame duck.

  17. Gregor Samsa says:

Secretary Rumsfeld’s energetic and steady leadership is exactly what is needed at this critical period. He has my full support and deepest appreciation.”

Because, after all, you go to war with the Secretary of Defence you have, not the one you wish you had.

And never mind that the “steady leadership” is steering the ship straight into the iceberg; what counts is that it’s steady, not precise -let alone effective.

  18. Nowhereman says:

Rummy is indeed a Lethal Weapon. Many of our young men and women have died or are mamed for life due to his lack of competence. If there is any silver lining to W’s defense of this moron, it’s that it will cause BushCo’s numbers to continue to tumble. I know, it’s not much of a consolation, when 1 more life lost due to incompetence is 1 too many, but it’s something. And if you’re really optimistic, it could be the something that tips Congress in November.
    Peace, love, hope. NWM

  19. Zookeeper says:

Excellent, Georgie, excellent. Keep on supporting Rummy, that’s a good boy. 2006 elections are coming up…

  20. Sharon Cox says:

Good posts all. What suprises me daily is they call all of us “lunatic fringe” Ha! Get the basterds out of the whore house, senate and house……….Blessings

  21. Paul in Mexico says:

Need any further proof that Georgie Porgie DOES NOT listen to his generals on the ground?

Another thought. I am hoping against all hope that Georgie Porgie has it in his mind to ask congress for their approval for strikes on Iran just prior to the 2006 elections. What a gift for the dems, however, I still believe that the plan is to sic Israel onto Iran and then when attacks Israel we have to defend under the mutual defense agreement.

  22. turtle says:

If Rumsfeld’s doing exactly what Bush wants done then it’s Dubya who must go.

  23. turtle says:

We know Bushie ain’t the sharpest knife in the drawer but does he realize that if Rumsfeld’s doing exactly what Bushie wants done then it’s Dubya who must go? The incompetence of this man is staggering.

  24. GURU^ says:

Don’t jump in my grill, but I’d just as well see that clown stay put.

  25. LC Liberal says:

Great!! That means he’s about to resign or be fired! Just look at Brownie.

  26. calif4nian says:

Getting a vote of confidence from Mr. 35% approval. Yeah, that’ll work.

  27. freeme says:

the fact that 5 of the most militarily sounds people in the country condemned Rumsfeld and Mr. I almost served in the Natioanl Guard gives his vote of confidence amazes me. This president has got the biggest ego in this entire country, no one else is ever right and he is never wrong.

In that same vein, everyone keeps talking about the 37% approval rating. Well, the bastard hasn’t listened to “the people” yet, I don’t know if even a 37% approval rating wil change that ego-maniacal course

  28. Rob says:

Hey, #25, LC Liberal, I agree. Rummy’s out of there. Something along the lines of Delay’s recent departure. (”This shouldn’t be about me, and I’m stepping out of the way to let us continue to say the course blah blah blah…”)

The more ringing the endorsement, the sooner we can look for the resignation. (surprise, surprise…)

  29. progressive and proud says:

#27 Bush doesn’t care, he is on a mission from God. Too bad he misinterpreted the sender.

  30. Marie says:

Yeah, yeah, yeah — and we all know what a judge of character the Bush is — the spoiled rich kid and his whole damn family wouldn’t know integrity if it slapped them upside the head.

  31. Sharon Cox says:

#29 very good. My thought was if he could he would kill the messanger, or swift boat like he always does. This nut bag is so sick maybe he think’s he is the second coming…..Blessings

  32. Nova16 says:

Bush doesn’t care what his ratings are at this point. The American people have accepted his incompetency for six(6)years and the mischief will continue for another(3)years. Research and history may prove me wrong, but this presidency and administration is the worst ever wrought upon the nation. Couple that with the corrupt republican congress and there appears to be a near disaster at hand. I read a comment by a blogger in another site who said that General Tommy Franks supports Rumsfeld because he thinks that Rumsfeld is doing a good job. Tommy Franks is the epitome of the Peter Principle in khaki. He and Rumsfeld are responsible for the mismanagement of resources and personnel in this meaningless war to the extent that they should be fired. However, the real culprit in this ongoing mess is the dolt in the White House. He started a senseless war that has killed thousands and squandered billions of dollars, and yet he says “stay the course”. The American people are as much to blame for the killing/murders and looting of the national treasury as George Bush because they still support him. 67% don’t want him impeached, even though 64% believe we are headed in the wrong direction. If ignorance is bliss, ‘Tis folly to be wise.

  33. Jack says:

    CYA – Cover your *ss.

A reasonable person would assume Bush is hiding, because he is as guilty of lying and torture, mass manipulation, as Rumsfeld.

  34. cats are flyfishn says:

Well if Chimpie says “doing a heck of a job”, then we know it won’t be long until senile Rumsfeld hands in his resignation and then 6 months later, blames George W Bush for the incompetence that led to mess-opotamia (Iraq).

  35. coal_train says:

Keep the bastard on the hook. Resignation lets him off too easy. They all stand together or hang alone. I’d like to see them in the dock at The Hague.

  36. koalablue says:

Earlier today I spoke with Don Rumsfeld about ongoing military operations in the Global War on Terror. I reiterated my strong support for his leadership during this historic and challenging time for our Nation.

Bush had a chat but did he understand? Is it a war on terror or just a global war to be? Leadership so Don is there leading the troops? Hitler had WW2 it was historic also! Challenging times, sure is, as the USA slides into being the most despised nation on earth

  37. Ken Daves says:

Impeach them! Impeach them to death!!

God, I hate these thieves. They are not good, they are not kind, they are not concerned about us. They are only concerned about money and power.

    They are a pox.

  38. big papa says:

    Comment by Rob #28

    Rob,

I’m afraid I must disagree with you on this one…

…the TRAITOR Bushiva CANNOT fire Dumbsfeld, because to do so would be to admit that…

…everything about Iraq is all wrong!

…Dumbsfeld’s failure is directly linked to Bushiva’s failure…

…and that simply will not happen, unless…

…the Dems take back the House and Senate in ‘04…

…and impeach and pprosecute these TRAITORS…

…’til then, look for Dumbsfeld, Bushiva and L’il Dick to “stay the course”…

  39. big papa says:

    oops, that’s ‘06

Maybe you don’t want to look at the frist draft of what they considered. . . [Click ]

[Warning: May be offensive to those who have a weak stomach for reality or those who do not like hatred of George Bush's war crimes. You were warned, you might be offended . . .]

You decide: “You agree not to . . . post any content to the Blog that is . . .hateful . . ..” Does this mean it’s “OK” to be nice to war criminals; but we can’t hate them — and share our hatred for war criminals?

  41. Think Progress » No incompetent secretary left behind. says:

[...] After lauding Rumsfeld on Friday, President Bush’s appearance today with Treasury Secretary John Snow “may be intended to send a message to Snow’s critics in Washington and on Wall Street that Bush isn’t letting this top Cabinet secretary go anytime soon, either,” NBC reports.  11:16 am | Comment (0) [...]

  42. Shane Davidson says:

Most of us know only what the media wants us to know. They want him to fail, its a better story.

LEAVE THEM ALONE TO DO THEIR JOB!

Bush and Rumsfeld have a crappy deal, but they are the ones that have to solve it. And they are doing an excellent job with what they have to work with. Their not going to let polls sway them from their job, so lets support them and help eliminate this threat!!!

It would not matter who was in office, the democrats would have went to war all the same, then they would be the criticized party. There is so much more progress happening here then the general media will ever report. Progress is is drama too, and its truth, but truth does not sell newspapers unless its manipulated.
