Whenever this particular administration tries to sell you “good news”, you better be looking very carefully at what’s going on. This kind of “announcement” is typical in its intention of deceiving the American people. And that is what the President has spent his whole presidency doing – deceiving the people. This man wouldn’t recognize the truth if it bit him in the ozone.
I’m not sure, but I seem to recall that the EPA under Bush has decreased the number of chemicals that get reported on the TRI. Standard with these guys, you want to look like you’re doing a better job than you are, change the methodolgy.
Even if it were true, it wouldn’t mean all that much. Dioxin is a persistent compound, like mercury. It doesn’t break down and it doesn’t go away. You either remove it or wait until it spreads over a larger area, diluting it.
#3 – So the dioxin levels put into the environment, even if they may be lesser in any given year, simply pile up every year and are not ever actually being reduced. Shit. Is that what you’re saying, Wisco?
#4 – dioxin bioaccumulates, spreads through the food chain – and it is here to stay. nasty, nasty stuff. Breastfeeding mothers spread it to their kids, etc.
