Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) expects six congressmen and one senator to go to jail in the Abramoff case – - I guess it’s too much to hope for one president and one vice-president too.

Of course, according to Colburn himself, he is an infallible human lie detector, so he could save us the trouble, time and money of investigations and lengthy trials by just pointing them out to us.

  13. Spudge_Boy says:

Isn’t it funny that he said 6 Congressmen and 1 Senator?

Isn’t congress made up of the House of Representatives and the Senate?

Did he mean 6 Representatives and 1 Senator?

“Speaking at a town hall meeting in Wagoner last night, Coburn said that “if you’ve been keeping up with things, you’ve got a pretty good idea” of who the seven lawmakers are.
The Oklahoma Republican says members of both parties have been involved in questionable dealings.”

Oh yeah? How many of those seven lawmakers are Democrats?

    Fucking putz!

  15. ElectricBassPlayer says:

PS: Spudge, I always thought a “Congressman” was a member of the House, while a Senator is obviously a member of the Senate.

So I think the usage is correct. ICBW.

  16. Paul in LA says:

    DeLay is certainly the Senator.

Hopefully Rohrbacker is in up to his elbows.

“How tied up is Representative Rohrbacher with the Tom DeLay/Jack Abramoff scandal? Rohrbacher has taken:
    $8,583 from Tom DeLay’s ARMPAC.
$5,500 from convicted DeLay associate Jack Abramoff.”

    Blunt, that’s two.
    Ney, that’s three.

“Bob Ney was Jack Abramoff’s go-to Congressman on a particular provision desired by one of Abramoff’s tribal clients. Ney accepted nearly $50,000 from interested parties, making them collectively his single biggest source of campaign funds. Abramoff told the tribes that Ney was on board and that the legislation had the necessary sponsor in the Senate as well. But there was no Senate sponsor, and the legislation did not go through even after Ney flew off on a junket to Scotland along with Abramoff and Ralph Reed – with Abramoff asking the Indian tribes to foot the bill. Ney’s trip is now being investigated in the Senate.”

    Possibly four and five:

“Rep. Eric I. Cantor of Virginia and Thomas M. Reynolds of New York.”

Rep. Louis Gohmert, and Rep. Ted Poe gained House seats as a result of the illegal Texas redistricting — maybe one of them is dirty.

  17. JosephW says:

Paul in LA, Tom DeLay is merely a member of the House (okay, not for much longer, but still), not the Senate.

  18. Bob says:

How about Reps. Jefferson from Louisina and Conyers from Michigan and maybe Mollahan from West Virginia. And perhaps Cynthia McKinney from Georgia. No one guesses any of them and they are all under investigation for one thing or another.

  19. Harold R Stotts says:

As long as Dr or Sen Coburn knows not to mess with making laws or restrictions in the medical professions because that would show bias, wouldnt it? imagine controlling laws about killing med mal victims rights to proper due course? or is it proper? it seems to me medical victims are losing rights to due process of the legal system everytime we turn around with laws the doctors getting off legally by saying its only a little mistake,
