Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) delivered the keynote speech at the Students for Academic Freedom conference, a group started by right-wing activist David Horowitz. Alexander heaped praise upon Horowitz, calling him a “geniune, dedicated, experienced, and [un]usually successful movement leader.”
A look at some of the things this “leader” has said:
Guns don’t kill black people, other blacks do. [Salon, 8/16/99]
Black Africans and Arabs were responsible for enslaving the ancestors of African-Americans. [FrontPage, 1/3/01]
The so-called ‘peace movement’ today is led by the same hate-America radicals who supported America’s totalitarian enemies during the Cold War…They are the friends in deed of Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein. [FrontPage, 4/7/03
Now Horowitz is taking on professors. His new book lists 101 professors he considers “dangerous” based on false allegations, smears, and manipulations of fact. Last week he called one student who questioned his conclusions “deaf and brain-dead” and told another, “You do not have the mental capacity to understand.”
Truly a man worthy of a senator’s salute.

They weren’t the only one’s that did it, but yes Africans and Arabs were part of the slave trade.

Facts That May Confuse Your Favorite Liberal:
1. The vast majority of black crime victims are mugged, robbed, raped, shot and killed by other blacks.
2. The rapid rise of American chattel slavery [that is, slavery without finite terms of indenture] would ot have been possible, either economically or logistically, without a pre-existing infrastructure of slavery among the black and Muslim cultures of 16th and 17th century Africa.
3. Today’s anti-war leftists, whose protests now give aid and comfort to modern mass murderers like Saddam and bin Laden, are the direct ideological descendants of Walter Duranty, who won a Pulitzer Prize for his journalistic apologoias on behalf of mass murderer Josef Stalin.

Absolutely not true. You could just as well say the existing slavery infrastructure could not have been built without a pre-existing blah blah. The fact is, our ancestors owned slaves, and worked hard to build a slave trade infrastructure the likes of which did not exist before. Admit it.

April 18th, 2006 at 8:44 pmSince I am an expert on sex crimes, let me comment that most Blacks are raped by Blacks, most Whites are raped by Whites, most Latinos are raped by Latinos. Why? Because it is usually a crime where the sex offenders know the victim in some way, and most people tend to hang out most often with people of their own race.
April 18th, 2006 at 8:48 pmJust wanted to throw that in, because to say the first part about Blacks, without adding the rest is misleading. Sex offenders are generally divided up proportionally pretty evenly by race, according to Dept. of Justice Statistics.
Black men go to jail more often, except for OJ, who could afford a good lawyer.

I’m more worried about the Japanese Yakuza than the Bin Ladens BSR. In Case you haven’t noticed, Bush doesn’t care either. But go fight your battle of gog and magog and your End Times Scenario BSR, go kill some Jews, some Muslims, some gooks, some Darkies, wooly hairs, or whatever hate word you prefer, and get ’saved’.
But I wouldn’t count on the getting saved part. You have to much hate. Its not Good versus Evil BSR. No Sir. Its Heavy and Lite. A lite heart knows not hate. You hate everytime you speak.
April 18th, 2006 at 8:50 pmRemember BSR it’s the Earth that Resists man, if it didn’t you would not exist.
Winning an Election does not make one Moral, as you can see BSR, you need only open your eyes to see that Delay, a man whom claimed to be that of Jesus, A soul Reborn, has thus Stolen from his Brethren. Sure Delay got elected, and for you that was a victorym yet the vistory that you had, because you have done wrong and did corrupt, Delays Fall has been magnified a million times. A man of Jesus does not Lie right BSR? How so do you protect those that do under the Guise of doing the Lords Work?
April 18th, 2006 at 8:55 pmAye The Moral Majority has imploded with cancerous disease, a green foul odorous puss, gangrenous and painful, unsightly to man and beast the GOP has died a death of its own doings, by screwing its own Christian Members and the Indians. April 18th, 2006 at 9:01 pmWinning an Election does not make one Moral
That is absolutely true. Never forget that holding power only provides the means to govern. The quality of governance depends entirely on the merit of one’s governing principles.
Win the war.
Secure the border.
Cut the spending.
Cofirm the judges.
These are the guiding principles of sound republican government. As voters have repeatedly recognized, the Left has no answer to these principles. Untill they do, they will continue to lose election.

Well, I guess Bush confirmed a few judges. Other than that he’s all but lost the war(s), done nothing to make us any safer at our borders and spending has gone so overboard that foreclosure by our foreign creditors isn’t unthinkable. So, BSR, certainly you agree that our current Administration — and the jackass Republican Senators and Representatives who support it — are not a “sound republican government.” By your own comment I assume you’ll be voting the straight Democratic ticket in ‘06, huh?
April 18th, 2006 at 9:20 pmFYI, Adam, your first of three supposed quotes from Horowitz was not written or said by him anywhere in the article. That’s the title of the article written by Salon, obviously expressing a cynicism toward what Horowitz wrote. Thanks for the link though — as long as you are criticizing others for accuracy, you ought to make sure you are accurate yourself.
Of the second quote, as someone pointed out, that’s just true. It’s mostly a good article he wrote. Thanks again for the link.
Some comments have made the point that not only are blacks killed mostly by blacks, but whites are killed by whites, etc. True enough. But Horowitz’ point is that African American leaders are pointing their fingers not at the criminals but at whites for causing African Americans to commit the crime against other African Americans. On this point, I do disagree with Horowitz to an extent, (I think that poverty, which is related to racism, is a causal factor behind crime), but Horowitz does make valid points, and again, if you want to protest misrepresentation, then don’t misrepresent.
Finally, the article on his verbal assaults on students was unquestionably one-sided. It is too bad Horowitz didn’t rise above the verbal assaults and gestures that the heckling students dished out. I can understand wanting to use some verbal weapons back when faced with that kind of hostility. There is a lot to criticize about Horowitz’ latest book, but imperfect though it is, I think he is doing most of us a great service in exposing and taking on grave problems at this country’s universities.
April 18th, 2006 at 10:47 pmSo, from what I can tell, George W. Bush has accomplished #4 on your list. Why? Because he is not a republican, he is a Neo-Con and he will continue to screw up this country until the real republicans stand up and say “Stop this maddness! This guy isn’t one of us, he is a Neo-Con!”
April 18th, 2006 at 10:49 pmIf this little out of context snippet is intended to slam Horowitz or Alexander its a pretty poor effort.
The first quote is from an article deriding the idea that gun manufacturers should be sued if someone uses the gun to kill someone else. I happen to agree with this. As others pointed out, it is equally true of any group. He used “blacks” in this instance because he was referring to an NAACP plan to sue gun companies. I don’t know if he’s racist but this comment isn’t.
The second quote is a rebuttal to the idea that America owes reperations to African-Americans since many of them are descendants of slaves. The statement is true on its face but not the whole story. Slavery and an infrastructure for it existed throughout Africa and most of Asia for many centuries before the west began using (abusing) it for their own gain. Africans took other Africans captive as slaves, trophies and for economic gain. Does that make it okay for westerners to profit also? Of course not! But don’t cry and act like the southern states invented a practice which predates them by many centuries. Slavery still exists in parts of Africa and Asia to this day.
Unlike the first two comments, the last one is purely opinion which anyone can agree or disagree with and be on equally sound footing. That’s the nice thing about opinions, they don’t have to be backed by facts. This one is widely held by pro-Administration supporters and widely derided by anti-Administration detractors.
Foxbot – the west extended an infrastructure for slavery into the “New World” and made it, sadly, more efficient but it was already thriving before Europe organized into countries. Are you really arguing that Africans were living in harmony, singing kumbaya when the evil white man sailed up and started a slave trade? Reagan never provided military support to bin Laden (they both provided support to the Afghans) but he did support Saddam. At the time he had only been in power a short time and was considered the lesser evil to the mullahs in Iran. Turns out with hind-sight that there wasn’t much to choose between them.
April 18th, 2006 at 11:14 pmOy vey. Another southern slavery apologist. Ohh. We didn’t invent slavery. No shit Sherlock, but you made it the foundation of your your slag-heap of a culture. Nazis didn’t invent killing people either ass-hat, but they made it much more efficient and deadly.
Listen crackers. The south is on its last legs, so put down your mint juleps, take your wiener out of your sisters mouth and start realizing that you belong to America, America doesn’t belong to the south.

April 18th, 2006 at 11:45 pmKING DUBYA THE DECIDER?
Tuesday 18th of April 2006
By Jay Randal
“I’m The Decider And I Decide What Is Best.”
( President George W. Bush ~ 4/18/06 )
Since the Congress is on Easter recess till April 24th, everyone was expecting Bush to make a fool of himself, in some manner, so true to expectations he has done it.
Interesting choice of words Dubya-Dunce used today, since “Decider” is not in the dictionary of the English language, but he never notices his mangling sentences.
Nor does he seem to think before he answers questions or spews out a response in flustered nutty incoherence and therefore sets himself up for ridicule by the press.
America is being ruled by a simple minded imbecile, who believes that he alone decides “What Is Best” for our nation, but who crowned him King of the world?
We the citizens of the United States never asked the Supreme Court to appoint him president in 2000, and he used lies to foment a war on Iraq to control its oil!
(Jay Randal, political activist and writer in Stone Mountain, Georgia, USA.)
April 18th, 2006 at 11:50 pmThis is a real dumb country and D. Horowitz is a shining example of our dumbness. Let’s take him at his word. We do need thought police after all. I see the beginning of a new federal beauracracy. It could be a branch of the Department of education. Teachers identified by undercover thought cops as indoctrinating outside the lines would be given due process and a administrative review, followed by one review on appeal to the Secretary of DOE. Then review on appeal by a new Article 3 court, followed by appeal to the Federal Circuit and untimately the supreme court. I figure a full time undercover agent at every public and private campus, including Bob Jones, regional offices, supervision, management, regional and general counsels, alternate dispute resolution teams, etc. Heck, I bet we could bring this in under $50 billion a year easy. Probably knock .1 percent off the unemployment rate. Let’s get with it!

In the 2004 Presidential race Bush received less than 51% of the vote. If only a little more than 50,000 votes in Ohio are switched, we have a different President.
In the 2004 Senate elections, Democrats received almost 5 million more votes than did Republicans. Democrats received over 5 ½ % more of the votes cast than did Republicans, yet Republicans gained 4 seats, winning 19 of the 34 available.
In the 2004 House of Representatives elections, Republicans received fewer than half the votes cast. Republicans received only about 2 ½ % more of the votes than did Democrats, yet they won 7% more seats.
Republican power sits on a razor’s edge, and it’s slipping away from them. The idea that the general public has roundly rejected Democrats is a myth.

Makes sense since the left side of the body accesses the right side of the brain – the side associated with creativity (whereas the left side of the brain is where facts and details are stored). People who are accessing the left side of the brain, as in remembering details and facts, will look to the right and usually up (not sure why up).

April 19th, 2006 at 11:08 amDavid Horowitz is my hero!! After years of being raised by frustrated Communist parents (”red diaper babies”) and embracing the WORST of the radical left, David saw the light. His book, Radical Son, opened my eyes and the eyes of many recovering liberals. Horowitz inderstands the battle of ideas and he KNOWS the enemy. His days with the Black Panthers, Rampart Magazine, Hillary’s guru, Michael Lerner, make him an exceptional voice to highlight the EVIL intent of the radical left. I dare say, the “open minded” editors here at TP could run serial excerpts of Horowitz’s books and find them uncomfortable (as they drive a stake in the heart of socialist “values”) but such excerpts could not be FACTUALLY refuted. But when have facts ever gotten in the way of spouting progressive socialism??
April 19th, 2006 at 11:12 amDear DR. Becker – While lobbing your “slime trail” excrement toward David Horowitz, I had the fascinating thought of a “Horowitz v. Becker” debate. If you’re interested here’s another ex-Lefty with quite a vocabulary that I can highly recommend……
A FRIEND WITH WHOM I HAVE A DAILY CORRESPONDENCE takes great pleasure in needling me on my, shall we say, adamantine position that we need to start fighting the First Terrorist War to win it and not as if we are engaged in a game of patty-cake. In March of 2004, after the Madrid bombings, while I was trapped on a Cruise Ship somewhere deep inside the sixth circle of Hell, he decided it was an ideal time convert me to his policy of “reasonable accommodation.” It was the moment in which, as he put it, “…the common citizens of Spain and France are saying ‘Tell us again what this got us, other than lots of angry teenagers with bombs?’ ”
I replied that I’d lived for years in France with months in and about Spain, and most of the ‘common citizens’ of those countries would surrender to anything and sell out anyone if it meant they could shop in peace for a few more years. Vichy and Franco came to mind as examples.
Yesterday, in Tel Aviv, the angry teenager with a bomb on his body came again, as he has so many times over the last few years, and as he will in the years to come. Maybe Spain was right to see the effort as futile. Maybe Europe as a whole should just roll over and not just play dead, but be dead. Perhaps Israel should just shrug and say, “Okay, you win. We’ll move.”
After all, what’s really in all this fighting and dying for anyone? None of the countries that are engaged in this war against terror seems to be ready to do the terrible things necessary to end terror. (”Don’t you see? That would make us just like them!” “Perhaps, but we would be alive to repent and reform.”)
I once admired the subtle thought, the careful parsing, the diplomatic pas-de-deux of policy, but lately I seem to have taken up a taste for straight talk. It seems to me that if you don’t go to war ready to achieve victory by any means necessary — by any means necessary — why would you bother to go at all? And of late, I’m only hearing the weasel word “win.” I’m not hearing a lot about “victory,” which is quite a different thing.

April 19th, 2006 at 11:33 am“Victory” is a publicly vanishing theory. But I am optimistic as I am not privy to all the details of making and shifting strategies. The defense morons who litter the posts here are stuck in the Rachel Corey or Tom Fox mind set. They worry about WWIII – newsflash – THIS IS WWIII.
I don’t make friends with rattle snakes. If they stay in their habitat and don’t bother the mini-aphrodites, the snake will be just fine. But when it comes to my little Repubs, I have no problem pulling out a shovel and chopping its head off. Self preservation will depend on VICTORY no matter what the “whiny wusses” of the libertine left say.
Re: David Horowitz. His epiphany allowed him to see and discuss the closed “circuit” of left. Another favourite of mine is Mark Levin, from Landmark Legal Foundation. Harry Stein rounds out my trifecta.
Did you read how Israel is not going to pursue any retaliation for another Palestinian moms “PROUD” moment?? After pulling out of the Gaza, the LIARS on the Palestinian side accuse Israel of aggression??? I can imagine what kind of a dung hole the Gaza will look like a year after the withdrawal. Can the Palestinians make the Israeli built greenhouses produce?? The fence has proved to afford Israel increased seucurity – just what we need to the south of me and extending to Texas.
Mr. Aphrodite sends his regards…..’til later.

Your brain is not over-used tho, I have to tell you that because the shit you spew out takes no brain power at all. Get a life!

Well, that’s comforting to know. As I get a little older I’ve begun to wonder if I’ll have any sense in the tip of my dick at your age. To what do you attribute your sexual longevity?

MIghty Medusa is just angry that it leaves a much wider slime trail than Horowitz, and no one cares.

A submissive 1/3 his age would be a better guess. When I grow up I want to be just like Paul in Mexico except not a Mexican.

No, there’s a joke to prove it:
“What food makes women stop wanting to have sex?”
Wedding Cake…
Here’s the thing. All women have a bit of testosterone. It’s what drives their sex drive. The less testosterone, the less a woman wants to have sex and the more she wants to have many babies. Submissives have very low testosterone (why they are so emotional, needy and must be told how you will love them forever and ever no matter how fat or slovenly they get.).
You can keep denying it, but really, I know you know I’m right. After all, when have you had this much fun with a woman for this long wiithout being naked? And really, I haven’t even been trying. Wanna see some seduction? Stay tuned…
April 19th, 2006 at 3:49 pmLike others here, I’m not seeing what’s outrageous about the first “quote,” even if he had indeed written that. It’s factually correct, and not particularly controversial.
April 19th, 2006 at 5:07 pmI-R-I, Mr. Aphrodite said the one thing you could depend on with liberal women is their slutiness. He’s about ready to roll through Houston and have you de-programmed. (I haven’t seen him this worried in awhile.) I assured him your common sense would prevail and a little atheist feminist tramp wouldn’t make a dent in your chivalrous armour.
April 19th, 2006 at 5:39 pmYou hate that he likes me, don’t you Madga?
Wanna tick him off? Keep trying to make him choose sides. You don’t corner Alpha Males, unless you wanna lose. Not that I expect you to know that considering the hand puppet you have for an imaginary husband, and the fact that you’re a sad little man.
Between us, I’m Mother Teresa compared to the loose hinges on your appendages. Unlike you, I’ve never had a one night stand. You hate me that much more because you know it.
Your jealous is laughable.

What, since your imaginary child died? I mean, to you, they are of equal weight since there is no child. What normal person worries about someone they have never spoken to on that kind of level? You really should think this crap through before you post. It’s as transparent as your blouse.
April 19th, 2006 at 5:58 pmWell, I guess Bush confirmed a few judges. Other than that he’s all but lost the war(s), done nothing to make us any safer at our borders and spending has gone so overboard that foreclosure by our foreign creditors isn’t unthinkable . . . By your own comment I assume you’ll be voting the straight Democratic ticket in ‘06, huh?
Wrong again. No Democrat will ever get my vote until the Dems demonstrate a commitment to outperform Republicans on these issues.
As it stands now, the Bush adminsitration has at least (1) won two wars (albeit we are still fighting post-war terrorism in Iraq) and liberated 50 million people (half of whom now live under a freely elected constitution and government, and the other half are forming a new govenrment under their new constitution), whereas the Dems would only have hid under the bed in both cases and/or cut-and-run from the terrorists; (2) increased border control resources and proposed immigration reform (albeit Congres needs to strengthen enforcement and reduce the security threat), whereas the Dems favor full amnistia and/or open borders; (3) limited domestic spending increases (albeit with increased spending on education and prescription drugs), whereas the Dems would increase spending across the board – except for miltary spending, which they would dramatically slash (as they did during the so-called “good ol’ days” of the Clinton administration); and (4) nominated and gained confirmation of two solid conservative SCOTUS justices (albeit he stumbled with Harriet Miers) and hundreds of conservative federal court judges, whereas the Dems would appoint statist liberals who would create new “rights” that have never before existed.
No, I’m not likely to vote for a Democrat anytime soon. I wouldn’t trust a Democrat as dogcatcher, let alone with the budget, or my tax dollars, or the courts, or especially with our national security.
Nice try, though. Try again when the Democrats actually have a pro-American platform.
April 19th, 2006 at 6:01 pmChoke on this:
FYI, Mr. Aprodite says he thinks you have a real chance with unbelievable. He says, “I married a liberal – and look – she’s a card-carrying Aphrodite.†He said you should be so lucky – wink, wink…

April 19th, 2006 at 6:05 pmGSD – let’s look at your, ahem, rebuttal shall we?
Poor reading skills?
“Another southern slavery apologist.”
CHECK! I clearly did not excuse slavery.
Lack of originality?
No shit Sherlock, but you made it the foundation of your your slag-heap of a culture.
CHECK! What’s to say? Stopped being humorous ages ago.
Vulgar and inaccurate attempt at an analogy?
“Nazis didn’t invent killing people either ass-hat, but they made it much more efficient and deadly.”
CHECK! Nazi Germany has no relationship to this discussion. It never fails that someone mentions the nazis when they have nothing else to offer.
Uncalled for rascist slur?
“Listen crackers.”
CHECK! Too dumb for comment. Let’s move along…
Blatantly poor grasp of modern demographics?
“The south is on its last legs,”
CHECK! Actually its the fastest growing part of the country in both population and economic power. You should be very afraid of the next census.
Poor Hollywood understanding of southern culture and families?
“so put down your mint juleps, take your wiener out of your sisters mouth”
CHECK! Not sure if you have just never been to the southern states or are being deliberately ignorant but your own familial fixation seems apparent. Kinda like saying everyone in San Francisco is homosexual or everyone in Miami is an illegal immigrant. Patently false stereotypes.
Yep, its official. You haven’t the slightest inkling of what you are talking about. On the plus side, you seem to have an excellent grasp of grade school profanity! I did notice that you did not offer even an attempt at a serious rebuttal of any of my post. Of course, you would have had to read it to do that and it appears you didn’t.
