John Podesta asked today whether Karl Rove would keep his security clearance despite stepping down from his policy post. At today’s press briefing, Scott McClellan provided the answer: “Oh, absolutely, yes.“
To borrow from the Russert story today: Bush won’t cut off Rove’s security clearance, because it would be the equivalent of cutting off his own clearance.
#4 - Dang! “Rawstory” is blocked at my work! I’ll check it out when I get home.
I just wish that the current administration was held to the same “standard” that Pres. Clinton was held to by the elected Republicans. If he had, Pres. Bush & VPres. Cheney would’ve been impeached for lying by now.
They are so unapologetic and steadfast in their stubbornness and wrongfulness. I wonder if they will stay that way even with the news about Rove being involved in the leak inquiry. I wouldn’t be surprised if they did.
There is a great article over on Vanity Fair. Carl Bernstein lays out a very clear approach for investigating the Bush Cabal.
Gore Vidal noted in a local paper today that the republic has failed. Carl’s article shows a way that our elected officials can prove Mr. Vidal wrong.
Until such time as our elected representatives awake and stand up to the Bush Cabal, We The People will continue to hold people like Turdblossom accountable.
Jeff Guckert likely still has his too. Remember him? You know the homosexual, male hooker, journalist wannabee. Amazing how that fell off the radar screen. Can you imagine if Clinton had planted that guy in the WH press corp? Ken Starr could have made a career out of that one…….
Karl needs his security clearance to gain access to the warrantless wiretap info so he can help the repubs stay in control cuz if they lose the chimp is history.
1) Rove is in charge of the mid-term political campaigning
2) Rove keeps his security clearance
3) There is no oversight on what is being surveilled, or who has access to it, or how it is being used.
Is there any question that the Republicans, and Rove especially, would divert resources that are supposed to be used to look for terrorists in order to spy on politcal opponents? Especially since they can self-justify it by saying that anyone who’s against Bush is “for” the terrorists?
I don’t doubt it for one minute. I bet you could even get a right-wing pundit to say it was OK under those circumstances.
Bad news about Rove. He single-handedly got Bush reelected: ref windsurfing inspiration and ad.
He is uncannily GOOD at appealing to voters emotions with a crushing sound bite.
I think the bigger question, burning in the hearts of CIA operatives and their contacts world-wide: Are Bush and Cheney going to keep their security clearances?
So, a day later and the only confirmation that Karl Rove has been told heÂ’s not a target of FitzgeraldÂ’s investigation is word from his lawyer of a letter he received from the prosecutor—A letter he wonÂ’t produce for the……
Sadly, Bin Laden and Abu Musab Al Zarqawi have had their Whitehouse press-passes revoked for not sowing enough fear.

April 19th, 2006 at 3:35 pmWhat level of security clearance will he keep? Obviously he keeps some level. Maybe it was downgraded. There are several levels.

I never thought the US would have a full fledged Queen running things. It hurts to realize we have Turdblossom in that role.

April 19th, 2006 at 9:53 pm#14. I agree. It’s time for Rove to get back to what he is good at: Slander and mud slinging. This is an election year.

Rove had been named as in charge of the reconstruction of New Orleans. So has this has now been dropped, leaving the Gulf Coast to lanquish further?
