Lawrence O’Donnell says the “buzz among the Washington press corps right now” is that Karl Rove asked to testify to the grand jury today, signaling that Rove’s lawyer “believes an indictment is imminent and is sending his client back to make a final desperate attempt to avoid indictment.”
UPDATE: “According to NBC News’ David Shuster, legal sources say Rove volunteered to testify and was no subpoenaed. Rove’s decision followed a recent conversation with Fitzgerald.”
He’s going to “clear up” the statements he made last time he tried to clear things up.
Karl sure does have a lot of confidence in his ability to lie to a Federal Prosecutor. I’m sure he’ll keep the rule of law in mind at all times.
April 26th, 2006 at 2:20 pmI hate keeping getting my hopes up just to have them dashed.
April 26th, 2006 at 2:21 pmI’ll just stick to hoping humanity can make it past the things Rove has done and has yet to do.
April 26th, 2006 at 2:24 pm“Final desperate attempt”, that’s music to my ears.
April 26th, 2006 at 2:26 pmKKKarl, have you been lying?
April 26th, 2006 at 2:29 pmThe Architect is building a new
set of lies to cover up the lies
he lied about in the first place.
Karl, me boy, you learned all of
this in kindergarten…weren’t you
paying attention?
Everly lie you make means you
not only have to remember each
one, but you have to make a new
lie each time to cover up the other
lies.
Pretty simple stuff, Karl.
I don’t know why everyone thinks
you’re so smart when you flunked
kindergarten.
GO FITZIE!
Which explains why he is so ugly cause that is what happens when you keep telling lies. I learned that in kindergarten!
April 26th, 2006 at 2:32 pmindict, indict, indict, indict, indict, indict, indict, indict.
April 26th, 2006 at 2:36 pmMore lies to cover up previous lies concocted to conceal more lies to get his fat ass out of the fire. Roast pig, anyone?
April 26th, 2006 at 2:47 pmWhich explains why he is so ugly cause that is what happens when you keep telling lies. I learned that in kindergarten!

Oh…. I thought that maybe his dad accidentally tried to use his head as a shovel when he was a child or something along that line. Learn something new every day =)
April 26th, 2006 at 2:54 pmThe big question is why would you voluntarily talk to a prosecutor that has sights on you. Lawyers always tell their clients to speak as little as possible. Not that I have personal experience with that….;)
April 26th, 2006 at 2:57 pm“Volunteered” to testify: Ha!
if he was truly “volunteering” there would be no need for another appearance; all the questions should have been answered the first time. Obviously, they were not addressed. “Volunteer” as in if he refused, what other crimes would have have been accused of?
April 26th, 2006 at 2:57 pmBush to America: “Open your mouth while Karl Rove takes another shit inside”.
What kind of man would leave the likes of Karl Rove on his staff to continue to abuse the truth and the nation with his endless streams of mendacity.
Bush. That’s who.

April 26th, 2006 at 2:59 pmMaybe Karl is gonna tattle on Georgie? That naughty little boy.
Watching this is like watching a bunch of children who have been caught lying, and they are scampering around trying to pin the blame on someone else.
April 26th, 2006 at 3:00 pm…FAIR GAME…
April 26th, 2006 at 3:13 pm#14 – you my friend have been listening to Air America. Good on ya!
April 26th, 2006 at 3:19 pm“legal sources say…” yeah right, the spin cycle is out in force.
April 26th, 2006 at 3:19 pmRove is creepy. Can’t wait for the prison novels. “Pretty Mouth Rove – My Cell Buddy”.
April 26th, 2006 at 3:24 pmRaw Story says KKKarl got a target letter. The indictments can’t happen soon enough.
April 26th, 2006 at 3:33 pm#18 – Queen Karl get a target letter? Woof!
Now ‘er talk’n!!!
Fitz, being freed up from indicting other ReichWingNutWackJobs is now able to concentrate on the Bush Cabal. And to think, Fitz is a Republican. I’m happy he’s after the truth, and not bought into the spin. Let’s hope he does his job well.
I want to see Karl perp-walked right out of the MonkeyPalace.
April 26th, 2006 at 3:38 pmrove needs to rot in prison and share a cell with a big black angry liberal whop can bend him over every night like he deserves.
April 26th, 2006 at 3:40 pmIs there some site where someone can go and read all the lies Rove told in some sort of order. Now that would be nice to read or does this call for a book?
April 26th, 2006 at 4:04 pmKARL ROVE porkface DIDN’T DO ANYTHING criminal WRONG.HE WILL NOT indict him GO TO bend over porky JAIL.
April 26th, 2006 at 4:15 pmInteresting that liberals are outraged at Rove because he may have outed Wilson’s wife. Forget the fact that Wilson was spreading lies about how he got to go to Niger and that he’s a media whore, it’s treason! Of course when someone like McCarthy makes a direct attempt to underscore America’s role in the WOT by leaking very damaging and sensitive (oh – and by most recent accounts, A LIE) information to the media for political gain, she is doing a public service.
You people are begging for a right-wing witch hunt and you’re going to get it. The treason knife cuts both ways, but like so many times in the past, liberals will learn the hard way how conservatives will leave you bleeding. Come fall, you will have no idea what hits you. Even if Rove is in jail, he’s more effective than any of you pinkos are.
Billy – he can share a jail cell with traitor Mary McCarthy.
April 26th, 2006 at 4:15 pmRove deserves the snitch tongue treatment ala Midnight Express.
April 26th, 2006 at 4:21 pmRove is a sicko.
April 26th, 2006 at 4:28 pmBush is a sicko.
When I was young a neighbor drowned my sister’s cat in gasoline. He’s in prison now.
Bush and Rove are those types of people.
They kill frogs with fireworks.
They drown cats in gasoline.
They deserve death.
#23 Lindsey[is that a girl's name]? Anyway;the only way you win in the fall is if someone other than Rove knows how to manipulate the Diebold machines.
April 26th, 2006 at 4:51 pmtwo (at least) reasons to be optomistic:
http://www.firedoglake.com/ 2006/ 04/ 09/ fitz-reveals-a-little-in-public-appearance/
http://www.regis-nyc.org/ news.cfm?ID=156&NewsID=754&Type=Main
basically, this guy fitzgerald is more concerned with “doing the right thing†than personal wealth and glory…now that the ryan trial in illinois has reached a verdict (GUILTY), he can get back to this business (yep, j.c.) … doesn’t hurt to keep those fingers crossed also!
April 26th, 2006 at 5:00 pmInteresting that liberals are outraged at Rove because he may have outed Wilson’s wife.
That’s actually not the biggest thing upsetting us right now.
Forget the fact that Wilson was spreading lies about how he got to go to Niger and that he’s a media whore,
You mean he didn’t go to Niger, or it turns out Niger was in fact supplying Saddam with 200% of their supply of yellowcake? Or the obviously forged documents Bush cited were actually real?
Of course when someone like McCarthy makes a direct attempt to underscore America’s role in the WOT by leaking very damaging and sensitive (oh – and by most recent accounts, A LIE) information to the media for political gain, she is doing a public service.
How can it be sensitive information AND a lie? And what did she gain politically?
You people are begging for a right-wing witch hunt and you’re going to get it. The treason knife cuts both ways
So far it has been the right wing accusing all their political enemies of treason. Are you suggesting this might come back to haunt them?
.. but like so many times in the past, liberals will learn the hard way how conservatives will leave you bleeding.
The whole world has seen that by now. There has been a whole lot of bleeding since the right wing came to power in this country.
Come fall, you will have no idea what hits you. Even if Rove is in jail, he’s more effective than any of you pinkos are.
Pinkos? LOL. Go back to your TV. They’re showing Red Dawn on TBS.
April 26th, 2006 at 5:18 pmThe way I understand it is that Rove was sent a “target” letter recently, which prompted him to volunteer to testify again today. His lawyer says Rove is not a “target” but there seems to be a difference between receiving a target letter and actually being a target. I think being a target means there is evidence of crime, receiving a target letter means the party may be indicted for a possible crime.
April 26th, 2006 at 5:24 pmSomeone who knows federal law can clear that up for me.
So, I hate to get my hopes up and be disappointed later, but on the other hand, there may be hope that he will join Libby as one of the indicted ones.
#28 Well put, foxbot. I was trying to count all the incorrect and untrue things in that post. Then I thought it might be easier to count the true things. Much, much smaller number. I noticed how the conservative mind wants to see political enemies bleed and/or die. I don’t wish that on conservatives; I just want them to stop lying about virtually everything. Can they win even a single argument without resorting to untruths or unprovable opinions?
April 26th, 2006 at 5:30 pmA good attorney would not want Karl Rove withing 500 miles on the Grand Jury a 5th time. His attorney had to be against this, however, Rover boy thinks he can “clear up” some things.
Hopefully the asshole will only dig is own grave just a little deeper.
April 26th, 2006 at 5:31 pm#29 Marie,
All that and let’s hope that the White House remembers its very public pledge that anyone “involved” would “no longer be a part of this administration.” If Rove gets indicted, there is no way in hell that Bush can let him continue to work there. I wonder how Tony Snow would spin it. ["Rove? Never heard of him."]
April 26th, 2006 at 5:33 pmLindsay, it’s the right-wing politicians, media , think tanks, lobbyists, etc that have been committing witch hunts against those who opposed them for over a decade.
To you it’s okay to jump the gun over a blow job but when it’s a criminal like the Chimperor King and KKKarl Rove who try to destroy the values that took decades to build and live up to, oh well, it’s okeydokey with you.
You need to come up with a better argument than that.
April 26th, 2006 at 6:39 pmWe’ve seen this before. Bush Administration Official gets moved out of their current position right before they are indicted.
Rove is going down…
April 26th, 2006 at 7:18 pmI take it this is the same “buzz” that had Patrick Fitzgerald indicting Rove way back when? Wake me when O’Donnell has some actual facts to report. Oh, I forgot, this is Larry O’Donnell we’re talking about. (yawn) Oh well . . . never mind.
April 26th, 2006 at 7:45 pmActually, Paul, a target letter would light his lawyers ass on fire to get him to “clarify” previous statements. Such a letter gives you two choices. Either sit back and wait for an inevitable indictment or try to talk your way out of it. Don’t kid yourselves. The WH is fully aware of this and that’s the cause for Unca Karl’s new job focus. He’s literally been pulled out the the official chain of command for no reason other than this impending indictment that’s about to hit him in the ass.
April 26th, 2006 at 9:48 pmWhere is Sexion? Come on man don’t you like the new and improved, just for you, Title of this thread. Rumor Mill.Takes all the fun out of challenging speculation doesn’t it? I miss ya pal.
