Right-Wing Bloggers Give ThinkProgress Advice About Tony Snow

According to right-wing bloggers, publishing our compilation of Tony Snow’s harsh criticism of President Bush was a huge mistake. A superior strategy would have been to “be silent” or “praise Snow for being a good guy.” Here’s the National Review’s Jonah Goldberg:

I don’t think many people have realized how the left blew it in its response to his appointment. The Center for American Progress and others immediately dug up every negative thing Snow ever said about Bush. This was precisely the stuff they should have downplayed. Instead, by doing this, they established Tony’s credibility and integrity… If [they] had been smart, they would have just let the whole thing go as ho-hum and praised Snow for being a good guy.

Powerline’s Paul Mirengoff seconds that emotion:

On the one hand, the Bush-haters at John Podesta’s think tank couldn’t resist digging up every negative comment Snow has ever made about the Bush administration. Not only did this help establish Snow’s credibility and integrity, as Goldberg notes, but it also signaled to the conservative base that this is a good and meaningful selection…. Once in a while, it doesn’t hurt to be silent or non-committal.

It’s facinating that, according to Goldberg and Mirengoff, the way to establish “credibility and integrity” is to call President Bush “an embarassment” and “impotent.”

….and then go to work for him.

  2. cousin benny says:

fitz to all my brothers and sisters.

the best way to deal wit JPOD is to ignore him

  3. Thom says:

Shorter Goldberg and Mirengoff: “They should have lied, or at least hid and ignored the truth, like we do all time.”

I like most here knew they would use this. I saw a headline on Google news yesterday that said something like “Whitehouse hires hard hitting critic…” Hoot. It just doesn’t matter. We have Snow and the White House over both ends of the barrel. It’s true that they hired someone who called Bush “embarrassing”; it’s also true that Snow’s been a lying lapdog on numerous occassions.

What’s to regret? The truth sets us free.

  4. GSD says:

How much credibility to I earn for calling Bush a petulantly douchebaggy, warmongering, elitist blue-blood?

    -GSD

  5. Love-Practicing OBGYN says:

It showed Snow has an integrity problem. Plain and simple. And it makes Fox look like what it is. There’s no positive spin on this spokesperson mess.

  6. SKdeA says:

Love you TP! Keep it up!!!

  7. dlet says:

Well, GSD I think that might just earn you a Cabinet Chair.

  8. Jesus Christ God of WAR says:

All this fine advise coming from the guys who dodge, spin, weave, lie, cheat, steal, invade impotent countries, and try hard to avoid Fitzgeralds Grand Jury.

They are nothing but a bunch of self serving apologists for the Bush Cabal.

Got Osama? I didn’t think so.

  9. Clyde the Ripper says:

Mirengoff should follow that old adage. It is better to say nothing and let people think you are a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. Those two have just invented the Mother of All Non-sequiturs. By revealing his hyprcricy and statements contrary to the party line his credibility and integrity have been established. So true, however, it is the complete lack of same that is obvious.

  10. unbelievable says:

Thomas Jefferson must be spinning in his grave…

“Every citizen should be a soldier. This was the case with the Greeks and Romans, and must be that of every free state.”

“The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it always to be kept alive.”

“The will of the people is the only legitimate foundation of any government, and to protect its free expression should be our first object. ”

    —Thomas Jefferson

  11. zAmboni says:

    Wait a minute.

Critcizing the President leads to credibility and integrity?
I thought that was traitorous and harmed our troops?

It is enough to make a wingnutter’s head explode.

I eagerly await Goldberg and Mirengoff to follow Snow’s lead with their imminent, forceful critique and criticism of our esteemed President. It can only help establish credibility and integrity that both of them sorely lack!

  12. And You Thought REAGAN Was Stupid says:

So, what does it say of Snow’s credibility and integrity that he then stated he wished he hadn’t said those things? “Woo! Wish I hadn’t written or said that.”

  13. Ugh says:

But, but, but, I thought Bill O’Reilly had explained it all and TP had taken everything out of context and Snow had NOT actually criticized Bush. Sometimes I think the spin is just too much..

  14. G.W.SuperChrist says:

If Goldberg and Mirengoff think you’ve done wrong than you must have done right.

Keep up the good work Think Progress!!!

  15. GSD says:

If only Jack Murtha and the Generals who are speaking up were awarded the same logic that the right wing now bestows upon Pony Show.

    -GSD

  16. Idiots says:

These right wing bloggers need to learn some logic skills. Maybe next time they won’t make an argument that basically says what TP has been saying all along. That Bush is ‘honestly’ a major disaster.

Anybody else hear about the May 3-6 terrorist attack drills in Chicago?

  17. bushllit says:

im getting dizzy…kind of like being in a blizzard…enter the Snow-era

  18. Matt O. says:

Ouch! That is one hell of an assessment there.

So this must mean Jonah believes Snow is legit because he was honest about Bush being an “embarrassment” and “impotent,” among other things.

If only we coul get Jonah to say that in a column himself…

I just love it when right-wingers are backed into a corner and talk themselves out of a talking point.

  19. dlet says:

I just read an article on how Frist and the Repubs want to give a $100 holiday gift to taxpayers that make less than $125,000 for gas. They are trying to bribe citizens with our own money. I know it worked for Dubya in the election but this is stupid. Lipstick on a pig. Why not address the problem and not throw money at it. Talk about a party with no ideas.

  20. jurassicpork says:

Yeah! How dare you liberal clowns speak the truth about Snow? Why do you hate America and… falsehoods… so much?

Speaking of the truth, judging by the number of hits and responses it got, Bob Herbert’s latest seems to hit the nail on the head. If you slept in late this morning, go check it out.

  21. quihana says:

So let’s see… the president takes someone who has been occasionally criitical of his policies and puts him in the position of having to publicly do nothing but defend those policies. This is supposed to be read as the president being willing to listen to criticism?

And on Snow’s side, stipulate for the moment that he has, by virtue of his independence from the party line, acquired “credibility and integrity”. What is giving up his independent voice in order to give out the line of the day going to do to that reputation for plain speaking? From this we are to reckon the message validated? Seems much more likely that the messenger will lose credibility.
He’s in a no-win situation: be a parrot and lose his reputation, or be honest and lose his job.

BTW, in what White House (outside of Jed Bartlett’s) has the press secretary had a “seat at the policy table”? If Snow’s really been promised that, does anyone believe that promise will be kept? And if not, how long will he stay in the job? This has all the makings of a fine fiasco.

  22. Rivitor says:

I just read an article on how Frist and the Repubs want to give a $100 holiday gift to taxpayers that make less than $125,000 for gas. They are trying to bribe citizens with our own money. I know it worked for Dubya in the election but this is stupid.

Yeha this is perfect neo-con politics…. they have this tax break that sounds good on the surface level but the big problem is written into this tax break proposal is a proposal about opening portions of the artic for poil drilling… of courtse the dems will try to shoot this down… THEN all the repubs can say “oooh waaa look at this dem.. he voted AGAINST your tax breaks>!?!??!” at election time for ammo…. its so BS….

  23. WC says:

So per Jonah and Paul, it’s OK to criticize the President and his administration. Builds integrity and credibility.

I’ll remember that when a Dem or liberal….criticizes the President and his administration.

  24. trueblue says:

I thought Snow was criticizing Bush for not being conservative enough?….

    am I wrong?

  25. Pete Bogs says:

it’s never good to be silent… fight the power! we are not sheep!

  26. the fly-man says:

Mark Spittle, are you J. Goldberg? Your comment #30 in yesterdays thread http://thinkprogress.org/2006/04/26/snow-on-issues/
was almost verbatim to Jonah’s. Or was it just that easy to predict?

  27. GSD says:

Dlet, they think that everyone is a $100.00 whore without any principles just like them. Do we all get a ride in the Duke Cunningham Rolls Royce too?

    -GSD

  28. Wayne says:

went to read national review and powerline. I am amazed….. amazed they had the mental ability to operate the keyboard to actually type that tripe, after reading all the idiocy dripping off their pages.

Excuse me, i feel the need to shower now….

  29. WC says:

    #13

Apparently Jonah and Paul didn’t share the memo…

  30. Rix says:

These guys dumber than I thought.

Hopefully some of these idiots will notice this:

1.Snowjob criticizes Dubious’ policies, mental aptitude and lingual skills etc
2.Snowjob goes to work for Dubious soon after as WH Press Secretary
3.Snowjob is Press Scretary, job description:spin doctor not policy maker

Conclusion one: Snowjob has changed his mind and suddenly thinks Dubious is the best president since Washington (i.e. his lingual & mental skills and policies have improved miraculously in the past few months)
Conclusion two: Snowjob is a hypocritical shmuck

  31. mark says:

black is white. up is down. less is more. embarassment is integrity

  32. the fly-man says:

When was the last time Jonah was ever silent or non committal? At least Tony doesn’t talk to dead CIA agents thru a Oija board like Michael Ledeen. http://www.nationalreview.com/ledeen/ledeen200604270643.asp

  33. foxbot says:

Just shows what flip-floppers the left can be. When they heard Snow’s comments about Bush being an embarrasment, the entire left wing traveled back in time so they could adopt that same position from the beginning. This is a serious blow to their credibility, and demonstrates Snow’s integrety somehow.

A better strategy would be to just be silent all the time and let us right wingers do whatever we want and pretend we’re right about everything.

I think it’s time the left starts taking advice from those who want to see them destroyed.

  34. jason kennedy says:

where’s all the crummy “undermining the commander-in-chief in a time of war” BS. oh no, that’s just to silence any voices on the other side of the political divide.

if this was a reversed scenario, FOX and CNN would be prefacing all comments from Snow with reminders of his previous statements.

he’s one more compromised right-wing scumbag in a seemingly neverending supply

  35. Cyra Brown says:

WOW! I don’t think they are aware of what they saying here. By showing what Snow has said previously about the President, TP has “established his credibility and integrity.” By quoting him? Okay, so they agree with what Snow said. Good to know. Then we get, “should have praised Snow for being a good guy.” So …. what are they trying to say? Goofy Bastages.

  36. unbelievable says:

According to Goldberg and Mirengoff, the way to establish “credibility and integrity” is to call President Bush “an embarassment” and “impotent.”

Okay, President Bush “an embarassment” and “impotent.” Happy now neocon sheep?

  37. beavercleaver says:

So Snow’s a hypocrit…he’ll do fine with the rest of ‘em. Of course the rightwingnuts fail to recognize that re-arranging the furniture on the Titanic will do no good…my advice to them is to say nothing, or be noncommitted. (That way you’ll ALWAYS be politically correct–very important these dayz)

  38. Jules says:

I do not know how you all do it. My husband will listen to conservative talk radio, watch fox news and read the conservative blogs to hear what they are saying. I cannot do it. It makes me physically ill to read or listen to people who so obviously despise the truth so much. These people have no regard for the American people or thier welfare.

  39. foxbot says:

If calling Bush a moron establishes Snow’s credibility, does that mean everyone who thought Bush was a genius is a blithering idiot?

I think the two sides are starting to come together on this issue.

  40. hotfroggy+ says:

#31 ~ you beat me to the up/down, black?/white? which was my first flash. how about this….. if your a sexy dixie chic and you make bad remarks about our retardican pres, its death. but if your a white male, with a huge head and you make bad remarks, your freaking promotional material! WTF!~!!!!! maybe they should of promoted jeff gannon, “rovekins-KKK” favorite boy toy! bbbbwwwaaahhhhahhhhaaaaaaa
    hot froggy!!!

  41. Gregor Samsa says:

Wait… which is it… did ThinkProgress establish “Tony’s credibility and integrity” or was Snow smeared with “garbage”?

Is criticising the president a display of integrity or does it aid, abet, and gives comfort to the enemy?

My head is about to explode….

  42. Massachusetts Liberal says:

This is one of the funniest right-wing comments I’ve ever read. What would they say if ThinkProgress had “just let the whole thing go as ho-hum and praised Snow for being a good guy?” Here’s a guess:

Once again, the Left is caught napping. Here’s a golden opportunity to use the President’s new press secretary’s own words to point out how tone-deaf Bush is, but they can only say what a good guy he is! Unbelievable! With friends like this, who needs enemies?

  43. the fly-man says:

Let it go with a ho-hum you mean like Jonah’s time waster posts at the Corner or anything Myrna Blyth writes about the upper east side gossip or anything K-Lo writes about TV and morals. I don’t get to dictate how the NR responds to anything , why should Jonah Goldberg care about this blog, listing usable , pertinent FACTS regarding the appointment of the main manifold for the Administration’s exhaust? This is the greatest consumer reports style platform for goverrnment performance, or lack there of, that I have found, what’s wrong with legitimate criticism?

  44. WC says:

    #27

Hey…I’ll be a $100 whore for 10 days! That’s how much and how long it will take my wife to spend the money on gas driving round trip to college. Heck, with Bush diverting oil from the SPR and dropping prices by $0.03, she may even sqeeze in another mile or two!!!

She’s earning her degree in early childhood education. Oh, didn’t I tell you? Due to the No Child Left Behind Act, she lost a job as a teacher’s assistant working with special ed students…a job that she was excelling at and one at which she was loved by the teacher and the 10 students she was teaching and the school principal. Even taught a 7-year-old kid with Down’s Syndrome to write his first name…something no one else could get him to do. Cried her eyes out when they told her she couldn’t return for the next school year.

Her downfall? She didn’t have the required minimum number of college credits to continue teaching…she could have been “grandfathered in” but she missed the cut-off date by 2 months. Never mind that the credits she did have had nothing to do with teaching. She just needed the credits. You know…all she needed was a basket-making class here, an archery class there. Anything to get the credits. So she decided that if she was going to go back to college, she might as well go for the gold.

But I digress. What was the topic again?

  45. purvis ames says:

The only way Snow could establish “credibility and integrity” is to call Bush what he is – a paranoid-schizophrenic homicidal maniac – but I guess even integrity has its decent limits.

  46. mark says:

#40 – so true. just about anything you hear from a wingnut these days – you can count on the exact opposite being the truth.

  47. Anon1 says:

In the end, anyone with half a brain sees this for what it is – Snow is a sell out. He accepted a position by an administration that he thinks is an embarrassment. Why? Because he has no integrity.

Good luck, Snow. You’ll need it.

  48. Jules says:

WC – It is so sad what Bush has done to this country. With all of the truly horrible things coming out people often forget what he did with this program. He puts all of these onerous requirements on schools and then refuses to fund them.

I know many teachers who lot their positions because they were not certified in core areas. For example, to be certified to teach math in Texas you must pass a 5 hour math test that includes Calculus, trigonometry, discrete math, and linear algebra. Which is very stupid if you think about it because why does a ninth grade algebra teacher need to know anything about discrete math? If someone is a good teacher, knows their subject area, and can get through to kids, I call that a keeper!!!

  49. lib4 says:

    Dont they have:

    two wars to worry about
    gas prices
a president with a 32 percent approval rating
a congress with a 22 percent approval rating
    mid-term elections

    Where are your priorities rethugs….

I guess they will take solace in any small victory they can claim since the conservative agenda has been a complete and utter failure since 1980……..

  50. mighty aphrodite says:

Judd – I know this is a complicated situation for progs to understand – look how many progs praised the Dems’ Chinese fund raising (”Why Al Gore, what a good multiculturalist you are!!”), defended anything and everything Clinton (with the exception of Christopher Hitchens, who had the moxie to call Clinto a phony). I can think of five items off the top of my head I disagree with my President on – but I would rather have a President who actually cares about this countries’ survival than a flopping poll taker. For the most part, Left wingers are so much more rigid ideologically. The notaable exceptions here know who they are….

  51. WC says:

    #41

    The answer is…YES.

  52. cats are flyfishn says:

Who cares what this administration’s dogs say on their blogs. Snow is still going to be shoveling shit after elephants.

  53. eve says:

The difference between progressive blogs like this one and rightwing blogs? Progressives believe that their audience is entitled to the whole story. Liberals know that if we want integrity and truth from our government, then we should also expect it from each and every one of us and that includes from bloggers.

Rightwingers are taking their cue from Bush it seems. They think they should tell their readers only what they want them to know and, if necessary, just lie. Their actions show thta they believe truth and integrity are only talking points.

  54. Jules says:

MA – if this a**hole you call a president cares about this country then why has he not caught Bin Laden? Oh yeah because, “I just don’t think that much about him.”

The only good thing about this president is that he is going to assist your party in a grand loss this November.

That is of course your party does what it usually does and lie, cheats and steals its way into the elections!

  55. Wayne says:

I would rather have a President who actually cares about this countries’ survival

    Comment by mighty aphrodite

So would we, thats why so many want to impeach the chimp. Surely you don’t think Bush really gives a flip about the US or the constitution.

As for the rest of the comment you made, it was nonsense and off topic as usuall. What the freekin heck does this thread have to do with Clinton? He is not even president anymore.

  56. the fly-man says:

MA, which is it , for the most part or so much more? That’s like almost pregnant. I think divided government works best and I’ll take the finger in the wind, focus group, cautious, approach any day over the impotent, old, aristocratic, elitst, second times a charm, Oiligarchy ass kissing crowd. Why do we have nuclear weapons if we can’t protect ourselves from roaches? This PNAC bunch has abrogated our government and yes I’m sorry more people play video games and watch sports other than participate in or pay attention to politics, but just because your elected doesn’t mean you have a right to abuse your power.

  57. mighty aphrodite says:

Jules – How right you are – How dare Bushites want math teachers to KNOW math!!!

A question for you – how do you think kids learned to read and write so much better generations ago??? I dare say that high school senior morons in our state must pass a very basic test in 9th – 10th grade English and Math in order to graduate. You should hear the flunking crybabies….and their whiney teachers and parents….

  58. WaltTheMan says:

If W wanted a real critic of his administration as press secretary, he would have hired Michael Moore.

  59. For Truth says:

At this particular slice in time, the point of the two Rightys can be seen, yes Ok we pointed out how credible Tony Snow must be, whatever. But another way to look at it is. “We know Tony will have to do a complete flip-flop in order to be the spokesperson”. Therefore setting up the fall of any credibility, which will happen the minute Tony takes the podium.

  60. Loonie says:

I don’t think many people have realized how the left blew it in its response to his appointment.

It’s true! By not praising Snow as being a good guy, we harmed America and the troops and Jesus and emboldened the terrorists! Must be that pre-9/11 mindset, eh.

  61. Gerald Gibson says:

For the most part, Left wingers are so much more rigid ideologically. The notaable exceptions here know who they are….

    Comment by mighty aphrodite

Rigid? You bet your ass. I dont compromise on being an unhonorable crook. Can Bush slide on his “inability to speak”? Sure, as long as he doesnt treat American soldier/citizens like they are cannon fodder like they were in Vietnam. Can Chenney slide on drinking some beers with a friend, shooting him in the face while hunting, and getting an “thats ok” from his friend? Sure, if he doesnt make backroom deals with foreign powers like Israel or wield his GIVEN place of power to attack disenters. Can Rove slide with with being a hard core prick that does anything to anybody to win? Well no actually …. but where you are flexible is with those things I like to call “truth” and “honor” and “humility”… and that isnt “flexible” …that is really “dishonest character”.

  62. hotfroggy+ says:

M.A. ~ cut down on the coffee! you’re rambling…. stick to the point, your either with us or agin us, which one is it? or are you the typical retardican, going which ever way the wind blows?

  63. WC says:

    #50

I know it’s a complicated thing to bring this up, but in deference to the rightwingers screaming “Bush hater” ever 60 seconds, let me remind you that the country had its fair share of Clinton haters for 8 years. They consisted of, well, pretty much the entire right wing. Thing is, for the most part he wasn’t despised for what he did, but for who he was. They hated him for his facial expressions and body language. They made fun of him because at times he would bite his lower lip, saying it was a sign of lying. They hated him because of his wife. I recall many folks, even one or two in Congress, publicly calling him a skirt-chasing womanizer. They just hated him, pure and simple. I worked with several Clinton haters, so I know of what I talk.

I recall that mere months after he was sworn-in in 1993, there were mumblings of impeachment from the right. Never mind that he hadn’t been in office less than a year, they just wanted him out. They didn’t know how they were going to accomplish it, but they wanted it done nonetheless. So we got a multi-year, multi-million dollar investigation on something that occurred BEFORE he became President. What did they ultimately “get” him on? Not anything that harmed our country or threatened our security or even came close to destroying us.

No…they came damned near close on throwing a sitting President out on the streets over a lie about a g-damned sexual affair.

  64. Gerald Gibson says:

If W wanted a real critic of his administration as press secretary, he would have hired Michael Moore.

    Comment by WaltTheMan

If he had done that… first I would look for a computer chip somewhere behind Moores ear and if not found then I would have to give Bush another chance to redeem himself…. of coarse these losers have no clue how humility can make you look honest and clean….

  65. Senator Joe McCarthy says:

These liberals are all Reds. They attacked Tony Snow like a gang of communists and they should be banded and black listed. I will expose them if it’s the last thing I do. “(One minute ladies and gentlemen I need to take a drink of water)” It’s not like he came from that Communist FOX News channnel. I miss spoke I mean Fox New is fair and balanced. They are nothing but water carrying republican lap dogs. Tony Snow is the worst of all although he did have the guts to speak out about Bush. He’s to the right of Attila the Hun when is comes to attacking liberals. “WHO PUT THAT TRUTH SERUM IN MY VODKA.”

  66. Cyra Brown says:

#50- Right back at’cha!! The same can be said for your side. Bush goes to the Chinese for money every day. Only he is asking for BILLIONS of dollars. I don’t hear much grumbling from Republicans about what would happen if China decided to “call in our loan”, all of a sudden. Or decided not to loan us any more money, because we are too much of a risk, due to the actions of “The Decider”. “Defended anything and everything Clinton.” I don’t think that is true, but even so, why is it then acceptable when Bush is treated the same way? Only what Bush is being defended about is difficult to compare with what Clinton had done. But I’m not going to quibble… it’s still the same category, defense by supporters, no matter what. And wouldn’t we ALL love to have a President that cared about our country’s survival?!? But we are stuck with Bush for now, who only mouths the words, and pretends to give a sh*t. But his actions, or lack thereof, are deafening by contrast. I could go on… but I think you grasp the idea here. If it is bad when Clinton does it, it is also bad when Bush does it, okay?

  67. Neo says:

You might as well be nice to Tony, as his next stop is PBS, following in the footsteps of Bill Moyers.

  68. mighty aphrodite says:

#55 – Dear Wayne – I wasn’t inferring former President Clinton – you’re straying (!!) I was horrified at the thought of President Kerry!!! (air-kiss to Jane!!)

#53 – “The difference between progressive blogs like this one and rightwing blogs? Progressives believe that their audience is entitled to the whole story.” Uninformed comment by EWE –
***** The difference – Redstate welcomes all comments – except the vulgar, profane, etc. – an understandable request – but one which renders your “comment” meaningless.

Jules – Don’t count those chickens yet. So few seats are actually “in play”. And as usual, most people are satisfied with their representative – they think other reps should be replaced – but not their own. If you are referring to the Florida re-count in your reference to stealing elections, my President won each and EVERY re-count….leaving you to look uninformed…..

  69. Krazny says:

***** The difference – Redstate welcomes all comments – except the vulgar, profane, etc. – an understandable request – but one which renders your “comment” meaningless.

    Comment by mighty aphrodite

So basically if you don’t agree with them they remove your post.

  70. Innocent Bystander says:

More moral relativism from Bush Republican-Conservatives.

Is there anything that these people believe anymore, other than the idea of maintaining power? Well, after they lose Congress, they can sit around for the next 50 years and figure out what they stand for. Seems like everything they paid lip service to in the last 60 years, they’ve jettisoned in the past 6.

  71. Sneelock says:

    hey, I’ve got an idea!
how about, whatever we say or do they go cock a doodle doo and tell us how lame we are?

  72. TJM says:

Cyra, the Chinese, or any holder of US securities for that matter, cannot “call” the notes. As you noted, they may decide not to buy any more but then what will they do with all the $s they get from Wal-Mart?
The WSJ (by John Harwood)had an article about their poll wherein they note that the Pres. #s have fallen but not nearly as much as Congress’. The article also notes that the those polled give Democrats a 33% positive rating vs. 35% for Republicans.
    See it through http://www.memeorandum.com

  73. Jane E. Schneider says:

Hey, Aphrodite, what’s up? That Wayne that you’re responding to isn’t my Wayne, by the way (he sounds kinda like him, though, doesn’t he?) Please don’t bring up Florida re-counts, you know you’re just inviting everyone else here to respond “BUT THEY CHEATED!” And everyone here would be correct.

  74. bill says:

The only mistake that was made was that the report did not urge in the strongest language possible that every single one of snows’ comments should be posted daily(that is correct- I mean DAILY!) on every sight that exists. I can’t wait to hear snows’ performance once he takes over the press meetings.
I would bet that he simply slimes into one more disgraceful goper! I don’t believe for one second that he will in any way show any independent thought.

  75. Innocent Bystander says:

“If you are referring to the Florida re-count in your reference to stealing elections, my President won each and EVERY re-count….leaving you to look uninformed…..”

Got a link to that MA?

    Here’s a link that says you’re a Republican*:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fahrenheit_9/11_controversy
A comprehensive six-month study commissioned by a consortium of media organizations including CNN, The New York Times, and the Washington Post concluded that Gore would have won if there had been a statewide recount that included disputed, achine-uncountable ballots.

If you bother to go there, it hot links to the CNN/NYT/WaPo stories.

Of course, we won’t discuss the systematic disenfranchisement of American citizens in Florida. I’m sure you have links from Newsmax and Stormfront that would dispute that. Maybe if you disenfranchise the 68%and growing majority who want to rid ourselves of the criminal syndicate, ‘Republicans’ will squeak out another win this November.

*Republican – A label that describes a lying hypocrite who will say and do anything to destroy democracy in order to maintain their illegal hold on government.

  76. mighty aphrodite says:

Hi Jane – Yeah, I was wondering what you might have put in YOUR Waynes’ CHEERIOS this morning for him to sound so….(fill in the blank).. (YOUR Wayne, while have a different point of view than my own, doesn’t come across like the Wayne I referenced – but you will notice, I had a GOOD thought for you!) Take care!

Dear Innocent Whatever – Quoting Michael Moore – noted “truth teller extraordinaire”?? Your source is impeachable. The statewide re-count is as I stated – but please mention that while Gore the Roar was trying to cherry pick the most liberal Florida counties for re-counting, he was busy trying to make sure active duty service personnel would not have their votes counted. Why you’re at it, why not quote that other Progressive personality, Alec Baldwin or my favourite wannabe Shakesperean, Tim “I feel a chill wind” Robbins…..

  77. Bush Bites says:

    GOLDBERG’S A FATTY.

HE AND HASTERT GREASE EACH OTHER UP AND WRESTLE ONCE A WEEK.

I SAW IT ON THE INTERNET.

  78. Jay Randal says:

Jonah Goldberg is plain weird and should take prozac > lol. Far-right are goofy about everything, so they wanted progressives to remain silent about Tony Snow selling his soul to Dubya Dunce Decider!

  79. Arne Langsetmo says:

It’s facinating that, according to Goldberg and Mirengoff, the way to establish “credibility and integrity” is to call President Bush “an embarassment” and “impotent.”

You gotta remember these guys doan think so fast … or so deep. We’re talking folks that think that “Simon Says” is a real test of wits … and generally lose.

    Cheers,

  80. Vaughn D. Taylor says:

Wouldn’t credibility be Snow passing on the job because he does not believe in the person who he will be representing? There’s something about neocons that I just don’t get. Oh, wait, I just got it. They have no capacity for logical thought.

  81. Kirk Smith says:

Well first off, I’m a libertarian and I’m used to not having any friends :) The democrats are too timid and poll-driven to do anything of any significance and the republicans make me so damn furious at their unprincipaled “scorched earth” policy that it makes me wonder if things could possibly get much worse for the country, the individual and our freedoms at home and abroad.

I believe the progressives are a refreshing voice not afraid to be themselves, speak their minds and debate circumstances and issues with clarity, logic, intellegence and respect. I experience this every time I’ve made a post on thinkprogress.org and I just wanted you to know that. There is hope for us “thinkers” in this crazy world and I know I can find a good debate and a thought-provoking refuge in this forum.

Thanks for giving me hope in the quest for a better world and existence. Don’t worry about Jonah Goldberg and NRO. Their days are numbered ;)

    ~Kirk

  82. Kirk Smith says:

Oops! My apologies for misspelling “intelligence & unprincipled”. Red wine with dinner can really sneak up on ya :)

  83. GURU^ says:

SANTO katy, I guess you’re a psychologist now too, huh. You should go to bed….NOW!!!….

  84. GURU^ says:

SANTO,by your simultaneous posts,I know who you are. You did the same thing on 3 posts that I saw earlier in the week;that time you were katy. Will you ‘come clean’ now?

  85. WMD says:

    ADVICE ???

Hell the democrates have been bending over backwards and keeping there mouths closed on everything and look exactly where its gotten them. Rammed up the end by republicans.

    You can keep your advice.

  86. Jay Randal says:

The Democrat politicians in Washington, DC, are not helping our nation by being wussy appeasers of the Bush Regime! If they are unable to stand-up to Bush Baby and Crazy Cheney, then they must resign their positions so we can fill their House or Senate seats with people who will stand-up for what is right! Our Representatives are supposed to represent all the citizens of America, and NOT corporate swine or piggy Oil Cartel CEOs! We the people must demand accountability in our Capital, and the Constitution says that if at any time the government fails to uphold laws and “Bill of Rights” > We the people have a right to a NEW government!!!

  87. big papa says:

“I don’t think many people have realized how the left blew it in its response to his appointment.”

    -Jonah Goldberg-

    hahahahahahahaha!!!

    You can’t make this sh*t up…

…Goldberg ADMITS that not “many people have realized” how the left’s response to Snow’s appointment actually lends it/him credibility…

…whoare these right wing inbred TRAITORS trying to CONVINCE?

    …us or themselves?

  88. Sexual Politics » Blog Archive » Bush is impotent says:

[...] Think Progress has been getting advice from the right about Bush’s new press secretary, Tony Snow. He called Bush “impotent.” Of course the right wing hopes that Think Progress will remain quiet about that. Let’s not reveal that Bush’s masculinity is seriously in doubt even by the conservatives. [...]

  89. GURU^ says:

    # 92 SANTO katy, and all the other names you post under:OOOOO I’m shaking.

  90. Jane E. Schneider says:

    Kirk, #85, welcome fellow thinker!

  91. GURU^ says:

    # 96 SANTO katy :Thanks for not SHOUTING that one;you were starting to bend my ear.Oh,and what do you think of that National Anthem in Spanish? Are you ‘legal’? Do the authorities in Illinois know about you?Or are you just a lonely little white girl playing out your fantasy?.Si senorita.

  92. Schwede says:

Wow, been a long time since I checked in. I see “mighty aphrodite” is still trying to stir the GOP tar with a toothpick.

Anyway, the RWNM is really losing it. They don’t make any sense any more.

Have fun with those trolls !

  93. mighty aphrodite says:

Swede- Picking up on General (ha!!) Wesley Clark’s idea to negotiate the Iranians to death, I thought fewer feathers would stick to simple, naive progs if I used a toothpick to stir the tar rather than the oar I usually keep stashed in my purse. Don’t be such a stranger – we miss your insightful (tee-hee) comments….

  94. Schwede says:

MA – miss you too. Even though I don’t understand how you can “negotiate (something) to death” if you don’t negotiate first.

I do admire one thing about you, sticking with GWB no matter what. I just feel a bit sorry that one day his policies will personally effect you in a bad way. Honestly.

  95. Rix says:

Check out this cartoon on Snowjob!

  96. RAVEDAVE says:

Tony Snow done got that ass spanked. He’s the Bush administrations new “tar baby”. And it’s just the beginning. Another fabulous Bush appointee… Already doing “a heck of a job.” And, Hayden, where doe’s “W” find all these perverts? He’s very careful not to appoint someone smarter than he is… Which illustrates what deep shit this country is really in.
