Yesterday, the Wall Street Journal reported that the FBI is “investigating whether two contractors implicated in the bribery of former Rep. Randall ‘Duke’ Cunningham supplied him with prostitutes and free use of a limousine and hotel suites.” The Journal also said the investigators are exploring “whether any other members of Congress” are involved.
Last night on MSNBC’s Scarborough Country, Dean Calbreath of the San Diego Union Tribune – which recently won a Pulitzer Prize for its coverage of the Cunningham case – said that “as many as a half a dozen” members of Congress could ultimately be implicated in the prostitution scandal. Watch it:
UPDATE: More on the scandal at DailyKos.
UPDATE II: Even more at TPMMuckraker.
Transcript:
SCARBOROUGH: Dean Calbreath, he’s from the San Diego Union Tribune. The Tribune was just awarded a Pulitzer Prize for its investigation into the Cunningham Scandal. Also let me bring in Melanie Sloan from the government watchdog group Citizens For Responsibility and Ethics in Washington. Dean, let me go to you first. You have obviously and your papers been all over this Cunningham scandal from the very beginning — What are your sources telling you about this latest information that the Wall Street Journal reported on today about possible trading of prostitutes for votes?
CALBREATH: We and a number of other papers have been on this for about six months or so. We have all been looking for the break in this and the Wall Street Journal found it, which is the confirmation that the feds were actually looking at this. For the past six months there we have been hearing a lot of rumors that not only the Congressman Cunningham but as many as a half dozen other Congressmen may have been involved in this. And we’ve also been hearing about the limousine service that Brent Wilkes used to bring prostitutes to the Watergate hotel and the Grand Westin in Washington.
SCARBOROUGH: Your sources are telling you that he used these limousines to bring prostitutes to the hotel. Also, apparently, he is cooperating with investigators. Is there a possibility that this black book with information may be turned over to the FBI and other high ranking Republican congressmen could be in big trouble?
CALBREATH: Well now, Mitchell Wade is cooperating with the investigators, but the guy who supposedly has the black book, Brent Wilkes he is hanging tough. He is so far not cooperating. I think that he is going to hang tough until he is indicted. So, I think it will be a while before other names come out. Like I say, the rumor mill is alive with names. The rumor mill is alive with at least half dozen names. Congressman Cunningham in today’s story in the Wall Street Journal that is really the first solid confirmation we have gotten of an eyewitness report.
Only problem with this case is that it’s hard to tell which ones are the whores.
April 28th, 2006 at 10:06 amOh man, I seriously hope Republicans aren’t caught up in a massive
sex scandal, that would be, well, too damn funny.
Karma, real or imaginary, makes me chuckle.
April 28th, 2006 at 10:06 amSpeaking of prostitutes, what ever happened to the gay male prostitute who was allowed regular access to the White House? “Journalist” Jeff Gannon made two dozen visits when there was no press conference scheduled.
April 28th, 2006 at 10:13 am#5 He changed his name to “Tony Snow”. (rimshot)
April 28th, 2006 at 10:18 am#6 do you mean rimjob or rimshot?

To “And You Thought….”
April 28th, 2006 at 10:23 amJeff Gannon/James Guckert now has his own website, where he basically rehashes already reported news and makes his own comments about it. He asks for donations, and I suppose he receives some bigger money from certain wealthy rightwingers, such as Mellon Scaife. Basically, nothing has happened in the investigation about how he got into the White House several times even when there wasn’t a press conference and also to several press conferences, although he was refused press credentials by the congressional press club–usually a must for getting into the WH–because the Bush administration has refused to cooperate with Reps. John Conyers and Louise Slaughter who requested relevant information.
Isn’t this beautiful!!! The moral “family-values” christians are getting the hosing they have most smuggly deserved for so long.
I hope Porter Goss has some incurable itch right now.
April 28th, 2006 at 10:24 am#7. Wow. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that he’s been protected and rewarded for his loyalty. Crime pays in the Repubs culture of corruption, as long as you don’t turn on them and testify.

April 28th, 2006 at 10:26 amWilbur Mills deja vu all over again
April 28th, 2006 at 10:27 amwhy is this a surprise to so many people?
April 28th, 2006 at 10:28 amRepublican congressman are quite possibly the sleaziest of the sleaze. This part with the White House cronies included, are the dregs of our society.
Well finally something that will catch the immagination of the American public – a SEX scandel. Most Americans don’t know Duke Cunningham right now and could care less because it doesn’t affect their daily lives. BUT a sex scandel well that could really be the downfall of the Republicans in November, especially if gas prices stay high.
April 28th, 2006 at 10:31 amJust to add some zing to the story, I hope Jeff Gannon was the pimp.
Goper’s Lament (Hard To Be A Republican)
April 28th, 2006 at 10:33 amI hope none of those Congressmen are Dems- one dem even accused will bring down the whole “Culture of Corruption” campaign.
Trust me, if there is one Dem, you will here ONLY his name and not Cunningham, Abramoff, Delay, Rove, Cheney or anyone else.
On the other hand, wouldn’t it be lovely if one of the Puke Congressmen was caught with a GAY prostitute? Maybe David “We’re just friends” Dreier? Not that there is anything wrong with that!
April 28th, 2006 at 10:33 amPorter Goss got his blue dress after all.
April 28th, 2006 at 10:33 amWell, I suppose it is true what the Rightwingers say, Democrats get a free ride where Republicans must pay…
April 28th, 2006 at 10:33 amI wonder how many of the implicated congressmen are lacrosse fans.

That troll response was PITIFUL! I loved it it was so bad.
C’mon now folks, we all know the repubs are just as degenerate as any other group. They just refuse to say so publically. But behind closed doors, their most common statements are:
1) I thought she was a girl! When I woke up the next day I was sure surprised.
yea, like all that licquor made you miss the large hands & adams apple….SURE…..
2) She said she was 19! How was I to know she was only 15?
I’m not big on the school girl pleated skirt thing. I like women, not girls, so I’m not able to relate much to this one.
3) That isn’t me in those pictures! I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing a teddy & g-string.
OK, I think we’ve heard it all from the party of morality and personal responsibility.
Please help us all by adding your own most common republican lame excuses. It’s Friday after all….

April 28th, 2006 at 10:46 amQuery:
Why was Clinton’s receiving oral sex in the WH – with another consenting adult mind you such big news….even if he did lie about it, and all of these totally perverted republicans making zero news? If I had not seen it posted here, I never would have known all of this.
Where is the liberal media? Dang…it’s the alzheimers, there is no liberal medis!
April 28th, 2006 at 10:52 amThe Republican congress is asking for a study group to be organized to investigate the allegations of sex scandles in their party. The group will start the investigation in 2008, there is not enough time left in 2006 or day’s to work in 2007. Sarcasm off…….Blessings
April 28th, 2006 at 10:53 amI’ve been saying for a long time that lies about war, stealing money and ruining the economy won’t be enough to bring the Bushistas down, but if a good sex scandal comes out they’re toast.
Looks like we could be on our way…;-)
April 28th, 2006 at 10:54 amYou should all check your language. It seems as if it’s the “Whitemailing Game” that’s about to start between members of “Con” gress. Leave us “Black Males” out of this; we have nothing to do with it. ;)
April 28th, 2006 at 10:57 am#11 – It’s because the Republicans are already whores, the Democrats have to hire their own.

So I guess it’ll always be called “blackmail”. Just be glad they didn’t use the spelling “blackmale”!!!

April 28th, 2006 at 10:59 amSorry, but our former deputy president Jacob Zuma outdoes all of your lot on sex scandal dumb-assery.

This is a guy with multiple wives.

#40 Democrat Soldier,
There was a Nancy Pelosi comment among the first four that was deleted. At the time I wrote my comment near the beginning, the comment I referenced was number five. After I posted my comment, the numbers changed and it looked like I was referencing myself (which I only do behind closed doors, if you catch my drift.)
April 28th, 2006 at 11:15 am#22, Thank you for the rundown on the pro-family Christians in the Republican Party, and I’m sure the list is not exhaustive.
Yes, we all know that despite the hundreds of examples of hypocritical Republicans molesting children, but it’s still not nearly as bad as Bill Clinton having consensual sex with Monica Lewinsky.
With your permission, I’d like to use your list as my signature whenever commenting on right-wing websites.
Maybe those fine christian men at Little Green Footballs could comment on the extensive list of Republicans who are sex criminals.
April 28th, 2006 at 11:18 amElectricBassPlayer:
April 28th, 2006 at 11:18 amThank you for cluing me in on that bitchin’ website.
The difference is when Democrats do it(even when it’s not prostitution), it’s an impeachable offense. When Republican’s get caught with their pants down, for purposes of bribery, after having already gotten away with murder, mayhem and torture, it doesn’t seem half bad. It’s kind of like, what if Hitler had been accused of using a prostitute and then gave a munitions contract to her uncle. It’d be like, uh, so what…that’s nothing…compared to…
April 28th, 2006 at 11:19 amOK, NOW it’s serious – somebody got a blow job! Time for impeachment proceedings!
April 28th, 2006 at 11:22 amAt least prostitutes work hard for their pay; more than you can say about politicians.
April 28th, 2006 at 11:25 amWe’re assuming they’re all Republicans. All it would take is for one Democrat to be caught up in this, and the Right will pooh-pooh as the Democrats are just as bad.
If it is all Republicans, that would be something.
April 28th, 2006 at 11:25 amKilling a hundred-thousand Iraqi civilians won’t do it. Holding people in secret and torturing them in secret won’t do it. Executing them in secret won’t even do it, but a few hookers just might, given the bizarre moral hierarchy of the hard right.
April 28th, 2006 at 11:27 amLove it – nothing like Christian values and letting morales determine your vote.
April 28th, 2006 at 11:28 amFrankly, I never could get why you Yanks are all that interested in the sex lives of your politicians. Politics isn’t exactly something which attracts the attractive, and frankly who screws who isn’t terribly important unless your representatives are screwing you. Consenting adults and all that.
This, just doesn’t strike me as being all that important.
April 28th, 2006 at 11:31 amPlease help us all by adding your own most common republican lame excuses. It’s Friday after all….
Comment by kindness
The classic: It’s Clinton’s fault.
Personally, I’d trust a prostitute before I’d trust most politicians.
April 28th, 2006 at 11:32 am#53 – You are absolutely correct Bruce. I lost my mind last night and was watching Joe Scarborough’s show, because I wanted to Al Franken’s interview, and I kept thinking about everything going on in the world, and he’s talking about this. If anything illegal went on they should deal with it, but they’re going to concentrate on the hookers instead.
April 28th, 2006 at 11:37 amThis is NOT surprising that members of Congress hire prostitutes > lol. Did they hire female or male hookers would be nice to know? Remember Jeff Gannon, the escort/hooker, who stayed overnight at the White House at least a dozen times according to Secret Service records, so who did he sleep with huh? He charged $200 an hour for his services, or $1,200 for an overnight, so did he have sex with President Bush? Ameican people have a right to know if Dubya is kinky and has sex with a guy while Laura is asleep! Investigate this please!!!
April 28th, 2006 at 11:38 amAfter all, a man is a man and a woman is a woman and the sanctity of marriage must be protected. Boning a female hooker proves that the sanctity of marriage is being protected by a strong heterosexual constitution. It’s all about protecting the wife from the possiblity that her Republican stud might have been boning Jeff Gannon.
Bill Frist…I don’t know…looks a little iffy…as if he may be protecting something…whoever heard of a Christian Fundamentalist Right Wing Surgeon?
The Decider must take action on this one.
April 28th, 2006 at 11:39 am#53 Prostitution is illegal here, as is pedophelia. It matters in this case because it’s bribery. In exchange for providing sexual favors, huge defense contracts were handed out.
And us lefties aren’t the ones obsessed with sex. Republicans started preaching morality when Clinton had a consentual affair and they tried to impeach him. That makes Republicans fair game because of the hypocrisy.
April 28th, 2006 at 11:40 amBruce – I cannot understand it either. The right-wing “belief” is that if the person is not moral in their personal life they will not be moral in their profeesional life. Which is, of course, a bunch of bulls**t. I could care less what a person does with another consenting adult. The proble is the republicans do not understand wht the words consent or adult mean.
But….if this is what it takes to finally get them the hell out of there, I will take it!
April 28th, 2006 at 11:41 am#53 – mr. Gorton, it’s really not the actual “sex” it’s the hypocritical attitude of “When you do it it’s impeachable, when we do it it’s business as usual”.
It’s the moral hypocrisy that we find much more scandalous, and since the Republican party likes to claim the “moral high ground” it’s interesting to see their spinning when their “high ground” is lower than their opponents.
April 28th, 2006 at 11:43 amNow I understand why Republicans are so anti-abortion – they need to keep a constant supply of children to molest and rape.
April 28th, 2006 at 11:44 amOh please, the Clinton impeachment was all about perjury to a GJ, it was *never* about the sex.
As for Libby, that’s….it’s…..it’s a partisan witch hunt! Yeah, that’s it!
And Abramoff gave equally to Democrats and Republicans…..or maybe more to Democrats…..lemme see, I can’t quite read this memo…..
April 28th, 2006 at 11:47 amA little off topic, but I saw a news story this morning about the Bush admin giving the go ahead to an arab company to either buy, or run US companies that manufacture equipment for the US army. Sadly I am unable to locate any more information on this subject.
April 28th, 2006 at 11:51 amUpdate found some information in the Seattle PI
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/national/1151AP_Bush_Dubai_Deal.html
April 28th, 2006 at 11:54 amMaybe those involved should have just killed the hookers in their offices and left them there…because then they would have gotten off totally free and clean!
April 28th, 2006 at 11:54 am#62 – Yeah, in fact Abramoff gave ALL his money to Democrats and the “liberal press” is misrepresenting the whole thing to try and “get back” at all the Republicans for their upstanding ways! (Sarcasm off.)
I just hope the Republicans will be as upset about perjury and Karl Rove as they were with Pres. Clinton. Cuz, remember: perjury is just as bad as murder! (Or at least Republicans said that in the 90’s.)
April 28th, 2006 at 11:58 amDefinition: Christian/family values=don’t have sex unless for procreation=use hooker instead to save your wife the shame of the nasty=protecting the sanctity of her marriage and/or the need to have an abortion, and while you’re at it, in order to donate more money to a faith-based institution, accept the bribe, and award that contract to the no-bid contractor who provided the lobbyist who provided the hooker, and give 10% to the church=he that giveth shall receive, which we all know is the basis of Christianity, along with the killing, raping, child molestation(let’s not forget the Priests) and of course, water-boarding of suspected terrorists. And if you want to bone Jeff Gannon in the process, so be it, in the name of God. Call it collaterol damage.
April 28th, 2006 at 11:59 am#64 – Makes me wonder: what scandalous information does the UAE have on Pres. Bush that he’s so eager to give them business?
I’m all for positive international relations, but this sounds friggen manic!
April 28th, 2006 at 12:00 pmI want Goss, man. It would be hilarious if Goss get caught in this scandal while he is purging his people. Family values have its limit I guess.
April 28th, 2006 at 12:03 pmPost 67 lol Dave that is true! I might add for correction on Jeff Gannon that he does the boning > he listed on his escort website that he is a TOP only which means he plays the male role in the sack with another guy! I guess Repubs who hired him wanted to be degraded by him?!

April 28th, 2006 at 12:06 pmCarloads of whores were brought in to satisfy our hard
working congressmen.
E.B.P, way to go! That list should be posted on every
internet site we know of.
Sheesh, maybe even old ‘Coverup Roberts’ got a blow job!
No, he would have exploded into a mass of protoplasm
and ended up a puddle on the floor.
What’s the difference between a blowjob & a snowjob?
I guess we’ll find out!
Jeffy Gannon is a “top” and he was in the White House Residence overnight.
That means President Bush is a bottom. He loves the cock.
April 28th, 2006 at 12:08 pmAnother fact of interest about Jeff Gannon/James Guckert: He claims that he is NOT Gay, because he boned his clients and never let them bone him?! He is deceiving himself about not being Gay, but in some cultures if the guy is never boned he can claim his mascalinity was not violated?! Anyways that means all his clients took a subserviant female role with him, so they cannot claim being non-Gay > PERIOD.
April 28th, 2006 at 12:12 pm#22 – you forgot that during the 1980’s WH sex parties, their were photographers that took party pics – so that dumbya the smarter could use them to influence the votes and policy. (a trick learned in “the order”)
Later, some of those ancillary people at the party were found dead. Some by suicide, others by unknown causes.
One of my very favortie suicide stories was the guy that committed suicide by shooting himself in the head more than once. Quite a feat in itself.
April 28th, 2006 at 12:13 pm#70 – My mistake – considering the fact that most of these guys are busy boning their constituents, they probably see some kind of Christian tit for tat type retribution going on = he that bones shall be boned in return. With much pleasure!
Let’s bring manly men back to the white house and congress. Gays invited. And I mean that in all seriousness.

April 28th, 2006 at 12:18 pmOnly problem with this case is that it’s hard to tell which ones are the whores.
They are *all* whores. But there are two kinds of whores. There are the *honorable* whores who provide a real “service” in exchange for money, and then there are the *dishonorable* whores who take the money and provide nothing of value in return.
April 28th, 2006 at 12:19 pmH.L. Menken (not sure of the name spelling but he was publisher of the Chicago Times in the 1930’s i believe) once said:

Yes Scarborough is NOT the one to bring this subject up since a young female page died in his DC Congressional office under mysterious circumstances! Her body was found and it was claimed she died of natural causes, but perhaps she died while having sex with him? Nobody may ever know, so Scarborough would be wise to drop this subject!
April 28th, 2006 at 12:24 pmBut just remember, according to the hypocritical Rethugs, it is gays and not adultry with whores that poses the biggest theat to marriage!
Do as we say, not as who we do.
April 28th, 2006 at 12:26 pm#84 – the official story on this was that she fell and hit her head on the desk.
However, how do you fall several times on the same desk if you have a heart condition?
April 28th, 2006 at 12:26 pmScarborough probably offed that woman.
He is a scumbag Chimpyloving son of a bitch.
April 28th, 2006 at 12:27 pmShe was not a page.
April 28th, 2006 at 12:28 pmPost 86 so she hit her head huh > that was convenient for Scarborough! His wife never fell for the story because she divorced him! I wonder why the DC police covered up that crime?
April 28th, 2006 at 12:30 pmHookergate is just the latest of a dozen or more scandals to hit the White House and the GOP in Congress.
How many scandals do we need before voters throw the GOP out?
Anybody who still supports the GOP at this point is a MORON.
April 28th, 2006 at 12:30 pm[...] The CIA director appears to be implicated, and perhaps as many as half a dozen Republican congressmen could be snared in this sex scandal. [...]
April 28th, 2006 at 12:31 pmThe 1980’s scandal was actually covered (at least some) by the Washington Times
Look for the Washington Times Thursday 6/29/89 front page headline that read:
Homosexual Prostitution Inquiry Ensnares VIP’s with Reagan, Bush.
I have a copy of the actual story. Most interesting when you know how politics works.
April 28th, 2006 at 12:32 pmSo Larry Flynt was right about Republicans.
Where are all those moral right wingers now!
The double-standard Republicans.
This is what I have never understood. Most people want to decide for themselves about issues – like they should in a good Democracy, and they look at each side of the debate. But the Republicans don’t want to debate, they don’t care to win you over on their side by the merits of the issues.
April 28th, 2006 at 12:34 pmThey are hardcore. God bless it, you are either with them or *ck you, we don’t care about you, get out of our way now or we’ll take care of you, if you know what I mean. They just want to yell, call you names, make rediculous outrageous claims, lie, and it goes on and on. By comparison, the Republicans, Bush, make Clinton look like a saint. It would be so refreshing to have an election on real issues.
Post 91 you mean Porter Goss is involved in this hooker scandal? Lol this gets very juicy and interesting now! Goss is a Bush loving freak and has a very shady past as a former CIA agent in the 1960s and early 1970s!
April 28th, 2006 at 12:36 pm#93 – Hell it would be great to have even an honest election!
April 28th, 2006 at 12:36 pmI’m just beside myself with joy,it’s friday,it’s sunny, the wings beat the oilers and the repugs have been caught with their hand in the honeypot. This is just to goddamned funny. Why can’t they just face the fact that we are all human beings that like drugs, sex, alcohol and just being generally fun loving beings? Why do they always hide behind religion and god and then get gaught back there jacking off?The hypocrisy is making my brain and every orifice in my head bleed.
April 28th, 2006 at 12:37 pmWhat was it the Bush Administration said after Clinton left office? Cleaning out the White House? Well, when Bush leaves they need the exterminators to get the stench out. What a bunch of hypocrites!!!!!!! Come to think of it, Delay looks after vermins.
April 28th, 2006 at 12:37 pmThis, just doesn’t strike me as being all that important.
Comment by Bruce Gorton — April 28, 2006 @ 11:31 am
i think that there’s a level of integrity to it. That if you’ll cheat on your wife, the women you swore to honor in front of your friends and family, then why would you hesitate to screw over a few hundred thousand strangers? Sorta that thing.
Plus, we are very sexually deprived. You guys sent most of your Puritans over here after all. :)
April 28th, 2006 at 12:39 pm#97 You forgot that dumbya tried to get the good ole boys in DC to change the rules so that as long as we were “at war” he could stay in power. Even they said wait a minute, that’s too crazy even for us.
What makes us think he is ever going anywhere? Remember “…it would be a lot easier if it were a dictatorship, so long as I’m the dictator…” Years later it is “…I’m the decider. I decide what’s best”
Also, dumbya is quoted as saying that he favors a 95% world population decrease. Back in 1999 I wondered how he would do it – now in 2006 I have no doubt. The fool is going to start armegedon.
April 28th, 2006 at 12:42 pmCan you say…. BLACKMAIL?
D.C. doesn’t work for you, they work for the blackmailers.
April 28th, 2006 at 12:44 pmNo I-Wrong-I…..
Guess he is the whore that got caught doing congress.
April 28th, 2006 at 12:44 pmI hope that there are some Democrats are involved in this; I think members of both parties are generally frauds.
I’d like to see ALL of the embers of Congress kicked out so we can start over. Most of ‘our’ members are privileged, wealthy, White males. I’m sick of seeing them run the show and be business partners to their lobbyists, the military, corporations, and fundraisers.
April 28th, 2006 at 12:46 pmFunny how the Chimpylover thinks this isnt important.
The GOP has been saying they have better morals than the Dems for years now.
So this IS important, you Chimpyloving asshole.
April 28th, 2006 at 12:47 pmSome history on Porter Goss: He joined the CIA with George Bush Senior around 1959/1960 and both took part in the “Bay of Pigs fiasco” against Castro in Cuba. Goss later was posted to Haiti to help the notorious killer dictator “Papa Doc” Duvalier. He also was posted in Central American nations and Mexico too. In early 1970s he fell ill with some strange affliction and retired from the CIA. Later in life he decided to run for Congress as a Florida Representative. He won his seat and had close ties to Jeb Bush too. After President Bush Junior decided to replace George Tenent as CIA Director, Goss took the job and has waged war on CIA agents who do NOT pledge loyalty to Dubya. So interesting if Goss is now outed as someone who hires prostitutes? Call it revenge from the CIA members who hate him > lol.
April 28th, 2006 at 12:48 pmThat gay prostitute scandal in Poppy Bush’s White House made the paper for one day and quickly got covered up.
Poppy Bush likes young men…the younger the better.
And so does his son Chimpy.
April 28th, 2006 at 12:50 pmThere should be qualifying factors for any candidate running for congress or the Presidency. One, an intelligence test. Two, an allegiance to the United States of America test. Three, drug and alcohol testing. Four, a banning of any religious talk or affiliation during the time that you are in office. Five, voter supported elections, to get the lobbyists out of our food chain and out of our pockets.
Bush’s failure to show up for his National Guard Duty should have rendered him unqualified to be president. His drunk driving and cocaine issues should have been fully investigated, and his “Born Again Experience” should have disqualified him under the “allegiance to America” rule. His allegience, as crazy as it may seem, is to God, or the Devil. It’s definately not to this country. He seems bent on destroying it, and as KJ Lovell mentioned, the planet. Everything he has done had been destructive. Even the rich will go down in flames when the non-rich revolt. Which they already have in the middleast.
April 28th, 2006 at 1:03 pmProbable Fox News Headline:
Republican Lawmakers investigated for off-site de-briefing sessions.
Seriously, this has been going on for years. And I suspect that nothings “free”….this leads back to Wade Mitchell/Brent Wilkes getting WH contracts for “intel work”. They’ve been filming this stuff and blackmailing Congress. It is the Republican Syndicate, after all. Bribery and sex and blackmail.
Wonder what the Reverands will be saying about their favorite political party now? This is going to be the scandal that destroys the Republican Party.
April 28th, 2006 at 1:03 pmI just hope the pics of Bushiva, L’il Dick and Jeff Gannon are published…

April 28th, 2006 at 1:09 pmJeez Big Papa, I think I just lost my appetite.
=0 I feel queasy
April 28th, 2006 at 1:10 pmGod! This must be another intell failure: when someone three years ago readed to Bush the PDB “Bin Laden determined to use WMD to destroy the GOP”, not knowing sh*t about acronyms, GW translated it mentally (?) to “Weapons of Mass Destruction”, and nobody had the cojones to say him that was really intended for “Whores of Mass Disipation”. All that past years, searching for gaseous venoms, nukes, anthrax to no avail… and now, the “weapon” has exploded in the news…
April 28th, 2006 at 1:10 pm…then there are the *dishonorable* whores who take the money and provide nothing of value in return.

April 28th, 2006 at 1:15 pm#107 that would explain why Republicans are so willing to go down in flames. That’s why they don’t make any sense on the floor of congress. They’re all on the frickin’ tape.
April 28th, 2006 at 1:18 pmPost 86 so she hit her head huh > that was convenient for Scarborough! His wife never fell for the story because she divorced him! I wonder why the DC police covered up that crime?
Comment by Jay Randal — April 28, 2006 @ 12:30 pm
Jay that one is simple…she was found dead in Scarbrains office in his district in the state of Florida and the DC police have no jurisdiction there, however the Fla investigation leaves a lot to be desired, especially the coroner, who was discredited in Missouri before he went to Fla and ended up in the middle of Scarbrains Faux Paw
April 28th, 2006 at 1:25 pmWait till the religious right gets wind of this. Uh Oh. And, they are finally starting to catch-on they are really stooges for electing repubicans over the Roe\Wade issue> No payoff> Suckers.
April 28th, 2006 at 1:26 pmBut, all the other republican dirty tricks played great in the south. “THE DEMOCRATS ARE COMING FOR YOUR GUNS!…”, “THE DEMOCRATS ARE GOING TO MAKE FLAG BURNING QUEERS OUT OF ALL OF US!!!…” MAD DOG has ranted…
If the issue is bribery then that is a different issue entirely, but if it is just that these guys frequented prostitutes, frankly… (And yes, I am sounding a trifle bit rightwing right now, but I feel precisely the same about Miss Lewinsky.)
Comment by Bruce Gorton — April 28, 2006 @ 1:15 pm
The firm I used to work for in California was approached by a company in China about doing an architectural project. When one of the Principals from our firm was planning a trip to visit, he had one of the female employees from our office play interpretor. She was later telling us that they were discussing setting him up with prostitutes during his visit. Because he was married and had integrity, the Principal, unlike Cunnigham and his ilk, said ‘no thank you’.
Just because there’s an opportunity, doesn’t mean someone has to take it. There is somethingto be said for self-control when you could hurt someone else with your actions. I still think that that is the point here. Self control. These people repeatedly demonstrate that they have none.
April 28th, 2006 at 1:27 pmThese are male prostitutes I suppose?Being that Republicans are involved and all.

That’s fantastic! I knew you were funny!
April 28th, 2006 at 1:29 pmBroce Gorton,
Yes you are sounding right wingnut.
The GOP raised hell about Clinton having consensual sex and lying about it in a civil case that was dismissed.
Now we have 6 Republicans with hookers…and thats just one of several scandals in the White House and the GOP-controlled Congress.
Bringing up Monica at this point is just weak.
But thats what Chimpylovers do when they’re being beaten up with the facts…bring up Clinton.
April 28th, 2006 at 1:30 pmEverybody keeps thinking Jeff Gannon was in the white House for some male there, but there is a woman who lives in the white house that has complained about her husband always wanting to go to sleep at 9pm, maybe gannon is a prostitute that swings both ways, would make a MUCH more interesting story.
April 28th, 2006 at 1:32 pmThis, just doesn’t strike me as being all that important.
Comment by Bruce Gorton — April 28, 2006 @ 11:31 am
You Reightwing, Facist, Neocon ummmm otherthings. All you ever do is support the Republicans. Joooo loving blah blah :)
Ok, that was an attempt at humor :)
This, just doesn’t strike me as being all that important.
April 28th, 2006 at 1:35 pmI agree, but it is darn funny
Clif,
Gannon was there for Chimpy.
Both Chimpy and Laura are closet cases.
Laura’s lack of affection for the Chimp is well documented.
Laura does a lot of things with her gal pals. Stepford wife closet lesbians.

April 28th, 2006 at 1:39 pmThis report is almost as important as the Democrap Congressman Molohan from Jay Rockefeller’s Country Club, West Virginia. Back on thread…I would like to see them say, “I DID NOT have sex with that woman, Miss Pandora…”

April 28th, 2006 at 1:44 pm125,
OK, just a little help for ya here Tom, I’m not a Republican I hate them too.
Bruce is well, lets just say normally really really left. In this case it fits too, because he considers consensual sex between adults not that big of a deal (I agree, but I do think it’s wonderful karma as well)
If it’s bribary well, then it’s a whole other issue (I think me and Bruce would even agree on that one too)
April 28th, 2006 at 1:44 pm58 – not completely true. Prostitution is legal in Nevada.
April 28th, 2006 at 1:45 pmAnd that at least some of this apparently took place at the Watergate only makes it that much funnier, hahahahahahaha
April 28th, 2006 at 1:54 pmTom3
I wouldn’t exactly call myself a chimplover.
My general take on this is just a touch of disbelief.
These guys seem to have been involved in every major fraud from Enron all the way down to K Street.
They have doubled America’s national debt.
Their term in office has seen America’s army gain a reputation for torture and violating human rights.
They have alienated the bulk of America’s oldest allies, including France, which was instrumental in America’s revolution against the English.
They have taken America into a war based on lies.
They have even outed CIA operatives for their own political gain.
They has failed on every concievable level, even as they have had every concievable advantage. The worst challenges they have faced are a few bloggers, some comedians, and George Clooney.
And what is it that is going to stop them? A prostitution scandal.

April 28th, 2006 at 2:02 pmThe funny thing is that your basic $500/hour “escort” embodies all the Republican virtues — entrepreneurship, initiative, self-reliance, careful steering along the line between legal and not legal. It’s not that Duke and his buddies are bigger whores, it’s that the girls are better Republicans.
April 28th, 2006 at 2:12 pmIf this sex scandal ends up implicating the Director of the CIA Porter Goss in it, then the s–t is going to hit the fan?! Goss is so tied into the Bush family that an investigation of his background, and afilliations with the Bush family, would be fabulous in being exposed to view! In fact I dare the press to look into this, because if they do, they hit the honeypot for real!
Porter Goss has compromised his position if he hired prostitutes, because the CIA warns its field agents that hookers can be spies for foreign governments! If Goss is proven to have done this, then he must resign immediately and the hookers investigated for possibility of working for China, Russia, or some other nation?! Codes will have to be changed at the CIA and he might have exposed other CIA personnel to being outed in the field! Goss is in trouble!!!
April 28th, 2006 at 2:13 pm[...] The prostitute ring ran by Brent Wilkes and Mitchell Wade may also include six other congressional clients, according to Dean Calbreath from the San Diego Union Tribune during an appearance on Scarborough Country: We and a number of other papers have been on this for about six months or so. [...]

I’m not that sure they do, which might be why on June 2, our government is planning to explode a 700-ton bomb just ninety miles north of Las Vegas. They have issued assurances that the ground they pan to use has never been used for nuclear bomb-testing before. They won’t explain the real reason why they are doing this test. It can’t be to test how much damage one 700-ton bomb might do because we have no aircraft that could carry such a weapon. (The C5-A can only carry about 143 tons; this bomb is five times bigger.) The conventional wisdom is that they are running this test to see how deep such a bomb could penetrate, so they can design a nuclear version to bust bunkers.
April 28th, 2006 at 2:23 pmYes post 139 if as they say they are testing a “conventional explosives bomb,” but they could test an actual nuke, or as you say testing to see what size nuke they need to blow a deep Iranian bunker?! Nonetheless its for an attack on Iran by October of this year for sure!
April 28th, 2006 at 2:27 pmDid someone finally get a blowjob? Yeah, let’s start impeaching. The big break we’ve needed! Let us hope there’s a connection to the Big O office.

April 28th, 2006 at 2:54 pmThe problem is whether or not the American people are going to give a crap. With the predominance of our politics titled to the extreme right, towards rugged individualism, fascism and cynicism, people have come to associate politicians with whores and I’m not talking about prostitutes. The fact is that the people may view the prostitutes more favorably than they do these sanctimonious and hypocritical right wing corporatists. The problem in these cynical times, is that these charges will be meet with a shrug and indifference – it will only further qualify what people have come to believe. Sad but I believe it to be unfortunately true.
By the way, has anyone heard that our President lied our country into killing thousands of innocents in the name of the war on terror – ho hum, carry on.
Have you heard that our President has clearly and unequivocally, not to mention illegally, spied on America citizens – oh well, what are we going to do about it.
Do you have more knowledge of who the contestants are on American Idol then who is ruining our country?
Don’t lose faith, lose indifference and cynicism, get off your butt and act to make things better.
Sermon over, it’s your turn.

April 28th, 2006 at 4:10 pmSome info on Jeff Gannon/James Guckert: I am one of the few people that got to see Jeff’s website before it was removed from the Internet by the GOP. It was affiliated with MilitaryStuds.com and Jeff called himself the “Bulldog.” On entering his site on the main page was a pic of Jeff in his underwear sitting and wearing military dogtags around his neck. Under the pic was a bio of himself where he stated that he is a “TOP” only and does NOT kiss or show any affection to his clients. He said he likes to do cocaine with his clients and loves to party. There were 3 or 4 sets of photos on his site: one set was him in his underwear in different poses; another set was him naked in different poses with a hard-on; another set was pics of him peeing { strange, but I guess Repubs like that or want him to pee on them?}; last set of pics was him in clothes partying or doing other things > lol. Also on his site was a list of endorsements by US military officers and other people in DC who paid to have sex with him. They all said he was wonderful, masculine, and made them act out female passive rolls as he boned them. He being the TOP and them the submissive BOTTOMS. He posted his escort rates as follows: $200 an hour or $1,200 for an overnight /weekend. My evaluation of his site is he fooled his clients into thinking he was a former Marine {never served actually}, and advertized himself as a masculine stud who only would do guys who wanted to be treated like females. So I guess in effect Gannon believed since he only did other guys, and NOT him, therefore he believes he is NOT Gay > only did a job for Republicans who needed rough sex > lol. I viewed his site for an investigative article I wrote for the Democrats in Congress when his name was first mentioned many months ago!

April 28th, 2006 at 6:08 pmTo Jay,
You may indeed have been one of the few who saw the original Jeff Gannon/James Guckert site in one whole piece before the GOP got it taken down, but many of its parts have been preserved by other sites. By googling “Jeff Gannon,” I stumbled on to some of these and frankly saw much more (such as the urination scenes) than I had cared to see. I’m including this information, not to contradict you but just in case others are interested in finding out more about Jeff/James.
To Bruce,
April 28th, 2006 at 6:51 pmI agree that the sex lives of politicians should not be important, unless they are buggering minors–a thing the Rethugs have a penchant for.
In Japan, it is practically assumed that an important man will have a mistress, and the same seems to hold true for France, etc. Similarly, I gather that it was common knowledge that FDR had a mistress, but the press in those days left matters alone. Moreover, since I grew up in Hollywood, I used to hear rumors about JFK and other politicians and actresses/starlets–not just Marilyn Monroe–even before I knew what infidelity meant, but again the MSM ignored such stories in those days.
I think most of us here feel glee over this latest sex scandal in the sense of sweet revenge for the GOP’s attempt (and the approximately $80 million spent on investigations) to get Clinton impeached for a consensual blow job. That’s why I myself got a big kick out of Larry Flynt’s offer of one million dollars to anyone who could provide credible information about infidelities by GOP Congressmen, and a few of those hypocrites were indeed brought down by that.
Incidentally, I loved the lyrics you devised for the “Rawhide” tune. I had meant to archive them but got distracted by something else and now no longer recall which thread they were on.
I am reminded of an old “George” magazine article in which they surveyed DC hookers. Apparently they got most of their work from Republicans but Democrats liked to cuddle more afterwards. (fancy that)
I miss George Magazine.
April 28th, 2006 at 7:44 pmWell, they (Republicans) who pray the loudest aren’t always the most pious. Voltaire was right: The first divine was the first rogue who met the first fool.

April 28th, 2006 at 8:30 pmWell, the way they’ve shut democrats out of everything, it’s got to be an all republican affair.
April 28th, 2006 at 9:07 pmCan’t forget Neil Bush, the Bangkok stud.
April 28th, 2006 at 9:21 pmMy ex-boyfriend ran into Neil Bush at Bangkok’s White House “disco” CHILD BROTHEL in the 1990s. I couldn’t get authorities to do anything about either perp. Rebecca Hagel of the Heritage Foundation even defended Neil! Regarding the Pukester, it is especially egregious that while his “pro-life” votes annually MURDER 600,000 Third World women in childbirth, he makes taxpayers pay for his Viagra and condoms for screwing everyone but his wife! He has a zero rating from NARAL–he voted against all family planning and all abortion rights for all women in all circumstances while he adulterously diddled hookers who were probably underage and possibly the same sex. By his own standards, he was contracepting and aborting love children! I’ll bet he was low enough to use his wife’s childbirth injuries as excuse to cheat. He should be Bobbitted.

April 28th, 2006 at 10:54 pmAny particular reason why the press does not refer to the prostitutes/escorts by gender?
April 28th, 2006 at 10:58 pmPost 170 beats me, but generally the press seems to be terrified of saying Republicans like MALE hookers?! The press had no problem talking about President Clinton getting BJs from Monica, but they absolutely do not want to say anything about a Republican doing that with Jeff Gannon! Press never investigated WHY Jeff stayed overnight at least 12 times at the White House and he did NOT sleep in the Lincoln bedroom guestroom, because that requires a seperate log in sheet and the room has security cameras too! The Oval office has a small room next to it with a bed, but no one uses it except President Bush, so did Jeff sleep with Bush? We may never know because the press is too scared to ask!
April 28th, 2006 at 11:11 pmOne last note: If Bill Clinton had a BJ by a Mark instead of a Monica, then the Republicans would have called him Gay and demanded his immediate removal fom office, but Dubya can do anything he wants? Strange!!!
April 28th, 2006 at 11:16 pm#172, go look for the Washington times article (actually front page) from 6/29/89

April 29th, 2006 at 5:03 amAlso, to the REPUGnicans, it would not matter in the slightest what gender the offender for Clinton. Democrats can’t screw the help, only REPUGnicans…. see Strom Thurman.
Ever wonder why it is that REPUGnicans can be so evil while SCREAMING THAT THEY ARE CHRISTIANS? Ever wonder why it is that REPUGnicans are so PREOCCUPIED WITH EVERYONE’S SEX LIFE BUT THEIR OWN AND THEIR ILK?
So, to you screaming so called Christians…. isn’t there a passage that says something like …
Take care of the log in your own eye before worrying about the splinter in your neighbors?
I also, bear with me because I am Church of Christ…., Judge not lest you be judged?
And on a final note…. if you are preoccupied with who is and is not gay you might need to do some deep searching in your own backayard.
People that know who they are don’t have to make others feel bad so that they can feel good…….
(Dumbya, have someone read that to you)

Yes, it’s a shame you didn’t preserve everything for the historic record. I’m sure you saw raunchier stuff than I did, but I did read some of the military men’s “endorsements.” However, I didn’t believe that they were necessarily for real. After all, who’s going to sue a male hooker for lack of truth in advertising?

[...] It looks like yet another big mess for the GOP. There’s so much going on, so many scandals, it’s hard to keep track of it all. For all the corruption and law-breaking in the U.S. government that we find out about, it makes you wonder what shady, unethical corruption is going on that never comes to light. April 29th, 2006 at 9:34 am[...] Karl Rove is very concerned over Patrick Fitzgerald’s investigation and is sweating himself to sleep thinking about the indictment that some say is coming his way. Not only does he have Patrick Fitzgerald fogging his thoughts at night, he lacks the clarity that a handful of Congressmen have. These Congressmen are under scrutiny for taking bribes and hookers with good old Duke Cunningham. Rove’s worry is due to the uncertainty of his situation: “Will I be indicted and for what? Leaking the name? Perjury?” The Congressmen, on the other hand, have more knowledge about their predicament, and at least they don’t have to keep themselves up at night worrying about what they’ll be charged with, as they know full well that the utilization of prostitutes is not a provision of the Franking Privilege! April 29th, 2006 at 10:34 amWatch the family values phonies pretend that this scandal doesn’t exist. Okay for the good ol boys to do the whorin and pimpin’ but god forbid that Clinton should. Seems that no matter what these phonies do they get away with it. Look at Pills Limbaugh and bullshooter Libby. Time for us people to march on Washington. Our leaders ain’t wirth a hooker’s kleenex.
April 29th, 2006 at 10:36 amCunningham Prostitution Connection Probed…
This story has been out in various form……
April 29th, 2006 at 11:37 amSo far the mainline press is NOT reporting on this hooker scandal, so a cover-up must be in progress?! If this was a group of Democrat Congressmen doing the nasty, then the GOP and FOX News would be all over it like flies on a turd! Dems in DC are too scared to say anything, perhaps because Rep. Barney Frank had a male lover once who ran an escort service out of his house! This is NOT a Gay issue, or problem, because even Jeff Gannon claimed he was NOT Gay, but it’s an issue about hypocrite Republicans claiming they are pious Christians who are faithful to their wives, while actually paying male escorts/hookers to have sex with them! Any Repub who denigrates Gays getting married, but pays to have sex with male hustlers is a hypocrite who must be outed to the entire nation!!!
April 29th, 2006 at 11:40 amI would suggest that anyone who wants to understand this issue of guys who are married, but cheat in secret with males, should rent the movie “Brokeback Mountain”! 2 Cowboys fall in love, but get married to women and have kids, but later go on fishing/hunting trips together to have sex and companionship! The movie ends with one cowboy dying in an accident, but the other one is divorced living alone in a trailer!
Now after seeing the movie imagine Republicans who are married, but instead of being in love like the 2 cowboys they just want sex with guys on the side! They do NOT seek out Gays for love, but escorts/hustlers for paid sex! This is hypocrisy by the GOP in Washington, DC!!!
April 29th, 2006 at 11:54 amwhat the sad part is, is that we americans delight in flaying people for sexual activity. no one seems to look at the reality that members of congress are human. of course, there are the partisans who delight in the “hypocrisy” of family-value-spouting politicians caught in flagrante. but, what hypocrisy it is to pretend that any political party has a monopoly on moral purity.
April 29th, 2006 at 12:05 pmwas clinton, was eisenhower, was kennedy –were any of them less of a great president because of their sexual activity? why does no one ask whether the people who are attracted to politics in the first place have a proclivity for living on the edge where sex, power and ego mix to provide them with their energy?
of course, all abuses of power, all deceit, all corruption are regretable. but maybe we fool ourselves, behind our blue noses, to think that we are any better or politicians are any worse when we discover that they have sex outside of the prescribed norms.
If only Congressman Duncan Hunter could be found involved in the prostitution scandal. He is up for re-election this year and baiscally is unchallenged. If he was found to be involved, it would be a blessing for all of East San Diego County to get rid of that do nothing, hypocrital, downright evil man.
April 29th, 2006 at 12:13 pmPost 183 > the issue is NOT doing sex, it’s hypocrisy about sex! Anyone Repub or Dem who claims piety in marraige, but then actually cheats on their spouse in secret! Sex is a natural thing, but society makes it dirty! Politicians tend to overindulge in risky behavior as some kind of thrill, so they run the risk of exposure and humiliation too!
The lesson I understood from the movie “Brokeback Mountain” is that people should aknowledge their sexuality, whether straight or Gay, and then live that lifesyle! Do NOT get married to a female if you like guys! If you cannot be faithful to your partner, then do not have a relationship with anybody! Of coarse for elected officials > sleeping around being promiscuous is NOT a way to get elected or re-elected either! If someone claims they are virtuous and are NOT, then they are a hypocrite who must be outed!!!
April 29th, 2006 at 12:38 pmI was a friend of President Clinton during his entire 8 years in office and helped to defend him against being impeached for lying about his affair with Monica! His actions were NOT a high crime worthy of impeachment, but he violated the sanctity of his marraige with Hillary! She had a right to divorce him, but chose to remain married, but she demanded that he seek counseling! All politicians who play around sexually run the risk of destroying their marraige, and being publicly humiliated like Bill Clinton, as well as being voted out of office if up for election! If the sex is deemed seedy, like paying for prostitutes, it can cause a politician to be forced to resign from office! ( Bill and Monica had a consenual affair > NOT paid sex!)
April 29th, 2006 at 12:59 pmCorrection: marriage NOT marraige > lol. I was dyslexic as a child/teenager and still occasionally flip letters in words as an adult!
April 29th, 2006 at 2:36 pm#176 Thanks, Bruce. This time I have archived it. One of my older sisters was very fond of the “Rawhide” song. When she couldn’t find a record version of it in the stores, she wrote, I believe, directly to the producers of the TV show, and was actually sent a record by them.
April 29th, 2006 at 5:55 pm[...] Greg over at The Talent Show points out an interesting dichotomy in the news yesterday: On the Democratic side, five congressmen were arrested for protesting outside the Sudanese embassy over the genocide in Darfur. On the Republican side, as many as a half a dozen congressmen may be implicated in a prostitution ring tied to one of the many GOP bribery scandals. [...]
April 29th, 2006 at 9:05 pmGood comments everyone! The FBI will most likely cover-up this prostitution ring instead of unmasking all the Republican politicians involved?!
April 29th, 2006 at 11:37 pm“Free”, my ass! There are ALWAYS ’strings’ attached, only this time they were “G-strings”.
April 30th, 2006 at 1:46 am#189 On the Democratic side, five congressmen were arrested for protesting outside the Sudanese embassy over the genocide in Darfur.
On April 30, restaurants in some major cities will be presenting Dining for Darfur–meaning that 5% of all proceeds will go to the refugees or groups aiding them. Furhter donations accepted. I feel a bit awkward about eating to help starving refugees but concluded that since i’m likely to be having dinner, anyway, I may as well let some of the money go for a good cause. Maybe I’ll order something expensive; I also plan on giving an extra donation. Those of you interested should google Dining for Darfur to see if a restaurant in your area is participating in this program.
April 30th, 2006 at 2:47 amOK, let’s assume that the six are Republican. Now, we know that Republicans don’t like women, unless they’re the dominatrix-type like Condoleeza. And even then, they’ve got to “know their place.” So is it possible these prostitutes might be men, arranged by Jeff Gannon?

October 4th, 2006 at 4:40 pm[...] Well, the good news percolating over the web today indicates that if the story has enough legs to carry through the weekend, we may just be due for a good ol’ D.C. sex scandal. As Georgia10 over at DailyKos relates, it seems that the lobbyist involved in the Randy “Duke” Cunningham scandal invited quite a few others to “pay to play” with gifts of cash, favors, and, um, “hospitality suites.” This wonderful euphemism indicates our Congressmen have spent their free time in D.C. frolicking with “ladies of the night.” The DailyKos article links to an earlier story in the San Diego Union-Tribune, and a piece posted yesterday in the Wall Street Journal. It’s not only the WSJ that’s picked up the story; apparently MSNBC is sniffing around as well. So this story potentially has legs– it’s not just the blogosphere, it’s the Corporate Media that’s perking up its ears, and whispering: sex scandal! [...]
