A short talk with the Sudanese leadership along the lines of , “Stop the killing by next Thursday or your capital will be a big hole in the ground.” would work wonders, especiallly if all those who are bemoaning the suffering there were publicly on the record of supporting such action. How many here actually believe that those who want the suffering to stop would actually support decisive, overwhelming military action aimed at stopping the civil war there?

All murders are homicide, but not all homicides are murder. “Mens rea” is the necessary element of determining degrees of criminal culpability.

Then why is the 2nd amendment is violated?… Because there is a refusal to recognize it isn’t the gun… Ironically New York was trying to impose an ordinance that you could not be of a certain age to have large markers or cans of paint to combat the graffiti issue. Marc Ecko managed to twist it to say it was a violation of the 1st amendment. The judge ruled in his favor. I think that is hypocritical.

Comment by Joneser — May 4, 2006 @ 10:09 am

I agree that guns don't kill people. But, I also know that an angry rednack with access to a loaded weapon is probably going to wind up on Cops. Personally, I think gun ownership should come with an education. Sorta how you have to pass a test to get a driver's license. That to own a gun, you should know how to use it. Of course I see the problems in letting the government regular fire arms, since the Founding Father's wanted us to have them to protect ourselves against the government.... But there are pros and cons to every subject. And the result in looking for a fail-proof system results in doing nothing. And we see where doing nothing has left us. One of the highest murder rates in the world (I think we rank 5th).

I'm not sure how the spray paint ties into guns, but I don't see graffitti as a comparable issue to shooting people...

I agree that guns don’t kill people. But, I also know that an angry rednack with access to a loaded weapon is probably going to wind up on Cops. Personally, I think gun ownership should come with an education. Sorta how you have to pass a test to get a driver’s license. That to own a gun, you should know how to use it. Of course I see the problems in letting the government regular fire arms, since the Founding Father’s wanted us to have them to protect ourselves against the government…. But there are pros and cons to every subject. And the result in looking for a fail-proof system results in doing nothing. And we see where doing nothing has left us. One of the highest murder rates in the world (I think we rank 5th).

I’m not sure how the spray paint ties into guns, but I don’t see graffitti as a comparable issue to shooting people…

#69, 70, 71, Zzzzz - Did Mom let you out of "time-out"? You say "favorite" I say "favourite" - you say "color" I say "colour". Some "people" are such radical left-wing extremists that they say in six or seven paragraphs what an intelligent person can convey in a single sentence or two. I suppose there are people who think the more they say, the more inteeligent they appear. Brevity is a hallmark of clarity.

Because, other people don’t see it the same way. You have to protect yourself and others from those who think it’s okay to kill on a whim. They are the minority, but they do exist.

Then why is the 2nd amendment is violated?... Because there is a refusal to recognize it isn't the gun... Ironically New York was trying to impose an ordinance that you could not be of a certain age to have large markers or cans of paint to combat the graffiti issue. Marc Ecko managed to twist it to say it was a violation of the 1st amendment. The judge ruled in his favor. I think that is hypocritical.

" So many self-centered people believe history begins and ends with themselves - how pitiful. Of course, some of those people actually do grow up…. Mighty Moron"

When you do grow up, come back and post...
