Lora,

Thanks. I did.

Know what you mean about MA. He's not here to debate - just to condescend or insult. Not very goos at it either. Does not lack the ability to offer an argument. Hardly an example of a law school graduate - or should I say 'low' school :). How very funny - and appropriate!

To unbelievable,
You apparently got the job you were hoping for, so congratulations and good luck with it.
Frankly, it doesn't matter that much to me whether Mary Jo Kopechne died by drowning or of suffocation. But I do think people who insist that they are right and what they write/say is a fact ought to be able to state their sources. However, our usually loquacious Mighty Hypocrite has suddenly become silent--not that this surprises me here.
Incidentally, I was recently asked to look over a translation from Japanese into "Engrish" (spelling deliberate) done by a Japanese person. The translator consistently wrote "low" for what should have been "law" or "laws," but maybe this wouldn't have even been a misspelling or mistranslation if he/she had meant it about our silly troll--the phony attorney.

You’re welcome. Now would you like to tell us the sources you used about Ms. Kopechne, so that all of us can judge whether or not they are known to be more accurate than wikipedia?

Comment by Lora — May 7, 2006 @ 5:31 pm

Because, like MA told me, if you can't give your sources, then how can anyone take you seriously? (Although my source was myself and I said so repeatedly, he refused to answer my question, just asked for irrelevent sources).

I guess he doesn't get that if you don't do an autopsy, you can't determine what's in someone's lungs, or what officially killed them. Maybe she held her breath. I knew someone who almost drowned to death, and he'd done some research on the subject out of morbid curiosity. People will hold their breath until they suffocate themselves. Rare, but possible... but without an autopsy... well, it's all speculation.

Lora - Thank you for the English punctuation lessons. As I type more rapidly than I handwrite, your attention to minute detail is appreciated.

Wikipedia is NOT the most reliable source for info - but the fact it was determined post-mortem that Ms. Kopechne was not pregnant and did not have water in her lungs suggests the opposite of your well punctuated assertion.

Thank you!!

[...] Yet the Bush administration is now spinning Goss as having never connected to Bush, a square peg and a round hole. They say he was forced out, in part by Negroponte, because he just wasn’t capable of working how Bush wanted. Claiming an official had been on the chopping block for weeks doesn’t carry water when we know Goss had meetings scheduled for the time of his resignation and the DoD was shocked that he wasn’t there to liaise with them. Claiming Goss is quitting because of the pending indictment of a subordinate no one has ever heard of is equally specious. The fact that Johnson’s sources at the CIA are telling him Goss is leaving because of Foggo’s connections to Wilkes’ sex for contracts scheme, to me at least, hints at either a larger role for Goss in the same scandal or a similarly damning involvement in some heretofore unknown scandal. As Josh Marshall wrote yesterday, We don’t know definitely why Goss pulled the plug yet. But the CIA Director doesn’t march over to the White House and resign, effective immediately, unless something very big is up. Foggo isn’t big and the Bush administration has never valued accountability as a hallmark of leadership. My money is still on Goss accepting free sex in exchange for millions of dollars of defense contracts to MZM and ADCS, which unfortunately for Goss is a far more serious crime than adultery.
#66 Mighty Hypocrite,
Since Ryan claimed in #62 that Mary Jo Kopechne wasn't autopsied and you claimed she was, I looked up, and then copied and pasted the following about Ted Kennedy's accident from Wikipedia:

"The car plunged into tide-swept Poucha Pond (at that location a channel) and landed upside down under the water. Kopechne died, but as no autopsy was performed, the precise cause of death is unknown.........

Kennedy discussed the accident with several people, including his lawyer, before he contacted the police.

The next morning (July 19, 1969) the police recovered Kennedy's car. Kopechne's body was discovered by diver John Farrar, who observed that a large amount of air was released from the car when it was righted in the water, and that the trunk, when opened, was remarkably dry. These observations and others have led some to believe that Kopechne had not drowned, but suffocated in an air pocket within the car."

Would you care to list your source about Kopechne's supposed autopsy and that she died from suffocation?
Ps. I noticed that you brought up the Kennedy accident again on an unrelated thread about Rumsfeld. If you continue to keep on bringing this up practically every chance you get, you can most likely expect others to remind you that your dear first lady also caused an accident that took a young life. So give it up already.

You’re right about this thread and the topic of Porter Goss. YOU brought up Laura Bushs’ accident - remember???
An autopsy was perfomed contrary to your sisters’ posting

To Mighty Hypocrite,
I brought up Laura Welch Bush's accident in response to #28 Ben's posting on Patrick Kennedy's accident, remember??? It's right there in my posting #55. (And, for once or twice, I will imitate your penchant for over-punctuation.) And I do recall seeing your repeated mention of Ted Kennedy's accident in several related threads, even if you don't remember. It seems to be one of your obsessions, remember?????
Incidentally, sisters' (with the apostrophe after the final "s") refers to plural sisters--not one sister. I indeed do have more than one sister, but they don't post here nor are they named Ryan (nor is my brother for that matter). I see from your putting the apostrophe after the "s" instead of before it in Laura Bushs'(SIC) and Mary Jo Kopechnes'(SIC) that you are unfamiliar with its usage. And we're all supposed to believe that you managed to graduate from law school?

#61 - "You were not present at either Laura Welch Bush’s accident nor at Ted Kennedy’s, so all your tripe is mere speculation." - Comment by Lora
****Witness testimony is available as long as the testimony is not impeached. Ted the Swimmer's cousin, Joe Gagnon, appears to have good recall. An autopsy was perfomed contrary to your sisters' posting. It revealed the cause of Mary Jo Kopechnes' death and the fact she was not pregnant.

An autopsy was perfomed contrary to your sisters’ posting. It revealed the cause of Mary Jo Kopechnes’ death and the fact she was not pregnant.

You’re right about this thread and the topic of Porter Goss. YOU brought up Laura Bushs’ accident – remember???

#62, 63: Ryan,
I'm glad you brought up the shock factor. After hastily posting my comment in #61, I realized that I had forgotten to mention the element of shock. I was simply the passenger in an automobile that was crashed into and bore absolutely no responsibility for the accident I was in, but I know that shock affected my behavior. I didn't even feel any pain at first, so the inexperienced MD on duty at the hospital I was taken to on a Sunday night didn't examine me so well--didn't even take an x-ray. Two mornings later my back and neck ached so badly that I could move; after that, needless to say, a more experienced doctor found several things wrong with me.
Anyway, this thread is supposed to be about Porter Goss and scandals surrounding him; we shouldn't let the trolls divert us too much from the real topic.

#60 Mighty Hypocrite,
I have been the victim in a car accident caused by someone who ignored the proper signals. Obviously I survived but not without considerable pain and the inability to move my neck to the right for nearly three years.
You were not present at either Laura Welch Bush's accident nor at Ted Kennedy's, so all your tripe is mere speculation.

#55 - I hope to God, Lora that you NEVER blow through a stop sign and have a horrible accident. The differences between Laura Welch Bushes' accident and Ted the Swimmer criminal negligence are: she didn't run home, lock the door, call her cousin to alibi up, AND fail to seek help for 10 hours. Mary Jo Kopechne did not drown - she suffocated because the self-centered coward, Ted the Swimmer, was too embarassed to get her help in time to save her life. Rational people understand the difference between these two horrible circumstances. Hmmmm....rational....THAT'S why you cannot seem to discern the difference.

Post 54 Paul is correct > there is a battle going on inside the Bush Regime, because all their lies on Iraq are getting exposed, and Ray McGovern upsetting Rumsfeld caused a feud between the CIA and the Pentagon to boil to the surface! Rummy must have got pissed off and demanded that Goss be terminated for not shutting up McGovern, as well as the sex scandal coming to light sped up the need for house cleaning at the CIA! Lots more to be exposed if the press would stay on this story like glue, instead of sniffing the Kennedy drunken driving event!

[...] Earlier today, CIA Director and Bush appointee Porter Goss resigned. I wrote a little bit about him here, after he resigned, in which I mentioned that he was unqualified for his job by his own direct admission. I didn’t speculate at the time about the reasons for the abrupt and unexpected resignation however (FDL has a word on who his replacement might be). Well, a few hours have passed, and the most widespread thing that’s going around is that his extremely abrupt resignation (the Department of Defense had no idea this was coming) was prompted by ‘something that happened this week.’ What could that mean? Only one thing. Hookergate. He was already rumored to be involved in the prostitution/bribery/poker scandal, and I wouldn’t be surprised if some more concrete links started showing up soon.
TP’s policy is to only post scandals that involve conservatives. At least Patrick had the courtesy not to drive over a bridge with a passenger and let them drown while he went home and subsequently arrange a coverup to protect his corrupt political career.

#28 Ben,
And you, on the other hand, appear to be concerned only with scandals and bad news involving Democrats. If you are so interested in an accident that happened in the 1960s, how about commenting on the following?
from Wikipedia:
"On November 6, 1963, 2 days after she turned 17, Bush (then Laura Welch) was driving her Chevrolet sedan with her classmate Judy Dyke. It was shortly after 8 p.m. on a clear night when Welch entered the intersection of State Highway 349 and Texas Farm Road 868 (now a four lane highway). Welch drove through the intersection's stop sign and collided with a Chevrolet Corvair sedan killing classmate and boyfriend Michael Dutton Douglas, also 17. Welch and Dyke sustained minor injuries; Douglas was later pronounced dead on arrival at Midland Memorial Hospital. Welch was not criminally charged in connection with the collision."

39 - RANDALL HAS GOT IT RIGHT!

Porter Goss was put in the catbird seat by Bush for one reason, and one reason only. To get rid of all the CIA agents who happened to be dems, liberals or progressives.

Bush wanted nothing but ultra-rightwing cronies in the CIA, those who would do the bidding of the White House.

Goss is involved in HOOKERGATE, up to his jock strap. Bet on it. All the TOP level of the CIA, all pukes beholden to Bush, are involved.

Guess who dug all this up? The Defense Intelligence Agency which is Rummies outfit. Look for a huge shuffle once again in the intelligence agencies as Rumhead is going to be put in as head of ALL intelligence. This is what Rummy has been shooting for since he has been in the cabinet. He has been backstabbing everyone connected with the intelligence services. Bush has been egging him on.

There is more to come folks! Loooooooook out.
