Deputy National Intelligence Director Michael Hayden, “who has a close rapport with Vice President Cheney, has not been formally offered the job [but] is the leading candidate and the announcement is planned for Monday at the White House,” sources tell Time. Hayden’s record? He previously misled Congress about Bush’s warrantless spying program.
I can’t wait for the hearings.

Is Hayden the retard that didn’t understand the significance of the 4th Amendment’s “against unreasonable searches and seisures” clause?
/or is this a different retard?
May 6th, 2006 at 2:37 amit doesn’t matter…they could grave-digger cheney dig up william casey, throw a suit and a tie on the corpse, and prop him up in front of roberts and the corpse would be confirmed…
May 6th, 2006 at 2:42 amit doesn’t matter…they could have grave-digger cheney dig up william casey, throw a suit and a tie on the corpse, and prop him up in front of roberts and the corpse would be confirmed…but, yes, he is probably the person you think he is.
May 6th, 2006 at 2:44 amHopefully any Democrats on the Intelligence Committee will recall this man lying his arse off on a previous appearance. A good question might be, how does being a known liar to Congress qualify him to head the CIA? If he can’t be trusted to be truthful under oath, how can we be expected to believe his ‘intelligence’ reports? Seems relevant to me.

May 6th, 2006 at 8:23 amSo Elmer Fudd, I mean General Hayden, will be the next CIA Director?
May 6th, 2006 at 8:40 amAre you all sure of this.? Geeeees I was sure Bull shit bush would get a pardon for delay and put him in this spot…..LOL…Why is it everything this bunch of sleeze bags do is alway’s done on a friday.? Even the house and senate sneaks slip in thousand page bloated bills on Fridays and then cat killer Frits demands votes for Monday or Tuesday…. Just another weekend in the bush, murderious regime…….Blessings
May 6th, 2006 at 9:06 amThe puke congress has allowed Bush to denigrate the CIA and turn it into a 3rd rate organization so I see no reason why they shouldnt make this Hayden guy the next director of a failed organization.
It seems that Negroponte is running the whole show now. The least qualified man in the administration to be the head of intelligence.
The cream dont always rise to the top, does it?

May 6th, 2006 at 9:34 amHayden understands about “unreasonable search.” At least, he’s willing to argue that point — arguing, of course, that his interpretation of “unreasonable” is definitive. What he does not understand, or admit, or perhaps even know about, is the “probable cause” line in the fourth amendment.
Well, there are more than fifty words in the amendment; a man with limited vision perhaps can be forgive if he loses track of a couple. I mean, why hold him to a higher standard of probity or intelligence than his superiors?

May 6th, 2006 at 10:22 amFrom the NYT:
Top C.I.A. Pick Has Credentials and Skeptics
Gen. Michael V. Hayden… would also face serious questions about the controversy over the National Security Agency’s domestic surveillance program, which he oversaw and has vigorously defended.
His Senate nomination hearing is likely to reignite debate over …the program’s violation of Americans’ privacy.
so “Michael Hayden, who has a close rapport with Vice President Cheney” looks set to get the job.
Surprise, surprise, Cheney is pushing for another sycophant, I wonder if Hayden is a neocon by any chance?
May 6th, 2006 at 11:34 amFrom Reuters today: “CIA chief Goss quiet on abrupt departure
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Porter Goss said on Saturday the reason for his abrupt resignation as
CIA chief after less than two years on the job would remain a mystery, while the White House denied that President George W. Bush had lost confidence in him. . . . .”
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060506/pl_nm/bush_cia_dc_7
It seems like there are a lot of mysteries these days with our Republican-led government. For example, in addition to this unexplained sudden change of leadership at the CIA:
1. Valerie Plame. What is going on with this one? It’s now clear that the White House up to the President lied about not authorizing selective leaks of info to attack Plame’s husband, though the direct link to the President authorizing outing Plame as an agent as payback has yet to be made. Also it seems like Plame was key in our obtaining intelligence on Iran, which we are now sorely lacking.
2. US torture. Whatever happened to this too? Why did we need to torture anyway? We didn’t need torture (or secret spying) to stop 9/11 – our government had all the info needed to discover the plot but just didn’t put the pieces together. And all this torture and secret spying hasn’t resulted in the capture of OBL since. I can’t believe that guy is still on the loose, and that we went into Iraq before we caught him.
3. Secret illegal spying program without obtaining warrants. And where is this one? Why didn’t our government bother to get the warrants? The explanations are really lacking. The warrant program even allows spying first and then obtaining a warrant afterwards on an expedited basis. Now Bush wants to appoint Hayden, the head of this illegal program, to head the CIA.
To me, any one of these scandals is equal to Watergate. Three of them together make Watergate look like a drop in the bucket. And yet they seem to be getting a lot less play than Whitewater did!
Why aren’t people speaking out more? Why isn’t our Nation outraged? Why isn’t the media giving these scandals enough well-deserved airtime?
May 6th, 2006 at 12:23 pmGen Hayden, sweetie darling, here’s a reminder:
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probably cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
May 6th, 2006 at 1:12 pmI hereby nominate Valerie Plame as the new director of the CIA
May 6th, 2006 at 3:13 pmPlease read my post
It might be more rewarding to stop and take a step back to look at all of this. I’m enjoying myself as many of you are, with watching the day to day events unfold. However, having been in a family for more than 26 years who is part of this, my view is much different as I see it more from the top down. I’m also wondering when the Public is going to start catching on to what this really is.
It you look from a distance, you may see that something is really strange with ALL the scandals and Indictments! Consider for a moment, what if they had links that somehow connected them from the top to the bottom? Of course that would be difficult to believe but what if there is a common denominator? The one real question that hasn’t been addressed yet is, “Where did the corruption money go?†Some of this is mentioned in my other post.
Another one is “Why is our Federal Government so obsessed with having business relationships with Dubai?” They seemed to have rushed into the Ports deal, until it was stopped. But then there was another one not long after? How many others with Dubai don’t we know about?
Can you figure it out?
I know from being in the family who’s job is to launder money for this group, that there is a HUGE MONEY TRAIL. BUT no one is looking into it? Gee, why is that happening? Take a guess! Maybe the same answer follows with why the Main News Groups have been trying to side step all the REAL news issues? It’s ONLY been the Alternative News Groups that have been reporting the TRUTH with what has been happening, otherwise all of us would be in the dark. There’s nothing like keeping everyone ignorant! Then adding more security measures to spy on us to let them know who knows too much! Want to bet my name is on their list! Want to bet that a local area contractor has been spying, among other criminal acts, on me for years?
I’m actually amused watching all of this unfold, to be honest. Behavior says everything as words are only music. The criminals seem to be scrambling at the moment, but the kitchen is going to get a lot hotter before dinner is served! Corruption, sex and all these other scandals are real attention getters, but they’ve been up to other much worse crimes for decades that still need to surface. When they start to surface, I guarantee that you’ll fall right out of your chair! Best be prepared, better install seatbelts!
May 6th, 2006 at 4:03 pmHayden, eh? Why not another crony like the Town’s End woman?
May 6th, 2006 at 6:20 pmDoes anyone in the administration know that the word ‘Hayden’ translates directly into ‘Heathen’? What sort of message would this send to our enemies?
May 6th, 2006 at 10:04 pmGeneral Hayden, if confirmed by the brain-dead Senate, would be a far worse Director of the CIA than Goss ever was! Hayden believes that the government should spy on every American citizen, so if he takes over the CIA we are all in trouble, because Big Brother comes into full existence! The Democrat Senators better fillibuster his appointment, or they will be responsible for Hayden spying on them too!
