Minutes ago on Fox News, Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol said he doesn’t believe the White House spin that Porter Goss’ resignation had been planned for at least a few weeks.
I think there were either serious disputes or some internal problem at the agency or some scandal conceivably involving an associate of Goss’. Who knows? Something that popped this week and that caused this sudden event this Friday.
Read the full transcript:
BILL KRISTOL: It wasn’t done in a routine way. I don’t think people — certainly people close to Goss did not expect this to happen. Senior congressmen and senators didn’t expect this to happen. I’m not sure the White House expected this to happen. … I do think this was sudden. It was unexpected. There will be more of a story that will come out. I don’t know what it implies for the future of the agency and Goss’ effort to shake up an institution, an institution that’s very difficult to shake up. But I do not believe it was part of a long-planned —
SHEPHARD SMITH: How the heck could it have been? In a Bush White House world, things are lined up and they’re put out in a sort of meticulous, controlled way. I can envision — if this had been planned in advance, there would have been almost an immediate announcement of a replacement, the hugs, the thank yous, probably a medal or something. Instead what we have now is a vacuum, and you have to wonder what could have gone boom like that to cause him, A) to tender the resignation and, B) for the President to accept it under these circumstances.
KRISTOL: Well you and I think alike, Shep. Either it’s brilliant minds or suspicious minds thinking alike —
SMITH: It is just out of character.
KRISTOL: It looked that way to me. What was striking about the statement in the Oval Office with the President, he didn’t say, “I will serve until my successor is confirmed,” which is the usual practice. In the written statement, he says he intends to be there for a few weeks to help ensure a smooth transition, but implying he could well leave before his successor is confirmed by the United States Senate. So again, I think there were either serious disputes or some internal problem at the agency or some scandal conceivably involving an associate of Goss’. Who knows? Something that popped this week and that caused this sudden event this Friday.
Mmmmm… this is all so juicy! God, it’s better than Abramoffica!
May 5th, 2006 at 4:15 pmKristol…..he’s a real fountain of information on Fox. Do they script everything?
May 5th, 2006 at 4:15 pmWith Colbert he was a babbler. How does he keep getting the schill job?
Does anybody care about a word that comes out of his mouth?
I think you do him a service by putting him(especially his picture )on your site.
KRISTOL: Well you and I think alike, Shep. Either it’s brillant minds or suspicious minds thinking alike —

May 5th, 2006 at 4:17 pmWow even the Neocons like Kristol are running for the hills and saying a sex scandal has caused Goss to resign!
May 5th, 2006 at 4:19 pmPOP go the weasels.
May 5th, 2006 at 4:20 pmTreasonous criminals are they all.
May 5th, 2006 at 4:22 pmMaybe Goss have been out binge drinking with Patrick Kennedy?
May 5th, 2006 at 4:23 pmLol post 8 if they had sex too, then I might need to be sedated > lol.
May 5th, 2006 at 4:26 pmfer crissake! these “news” channels are pathetic! didn’t ANY of them hear about Cunningham, poker parties, hookers, Watergate/Westin, lobbyists the last week or so? jumpin’ jeebus on a pogostick these professionals make me crazy!
May 5th, 2006 at 4:29 pmClearly Kristol is talking about an erection (”popped”) and an orgasm (”sudden event”).
That is hillarious.
May 5th, 2006 at 4:31 pmCould it be they thought it would be a good time to take the heat off since they knew the press was more likely to hammer a democrat and a Kennedy at that. CNN has had nothing but Kennedy all over their netpage. Not once do they mention except in a line about Porter Goss.
Don’t you think the director of the CIA resigning, out of the blue, is a more prominent story than a person saying he is addicted to prescriptions drugs and is going in rehab. YOU BETCHA YA.
May 5th, 2006 at 4:32 pmladies and generalmen; this is bush’s personal message that he was going to deliver today, see?
or, was it?
that announcement this morning has been blurred yet again by scandal, if you notice, today, he never even made his “personal announcement” if corruption and crime and scandal and rhyme keeps tracking this incompetent fellow, he won’t be able to announce his own resignation without something horrible being there to over power it in the newz.
what fascinating times we live in. hope russia doesn’t get too pissed at dickhead chainmail to start the icebox up again. who voted for these rubes? never forget, never forget
May 5th, 2006 at 4:32 pmso that’s what an evil muppet would look like—who knew? kristol looks as stupidly creepy as ever.

If that person is a right wing talk show host, it isn’t newsworthy. Only if that person is a democrat, and a kennedy. I think the only thing the right would like more is if he was caught with a transvestite hooker in his car.
May 5th, 2006 at 4:37 pmNow I know why the Right didn’t laugh at Colbert’s performance on Saturday……they wanted to be the only “Funny” ones in the room.
May 5th, 2006 at 4:38 pmSay it loud, say it proud..HOOKERGATE!!!! The wheels are coming off!!! Distract, distract!! Lets bomb Iran, lets have another 9/11, otherwise we may have to have elections in November. Hmm, a national emergency is a good way to postpone elections and impeachment.
May 5th, 2006 at 4:42 pmWhat has this clown Kristol ever done to deserve so many hours of punditry expousing his elitist, blue blood, sheltered opinion?
May 5th, 2006 at 4:43 pmKristol is one of the signers of the PNAC
May 5th, 2006 at 4:44 pmOl’ Shep knows quite a lot about sex scandals.
May 5th, 2006 at 4:46 pmI think Kristol was an author of the PNAC, not merely a signer.
May 5th, 2006 at 4:46 pmbah dah bop bop bop, I’m lovin’ it!!!
May 5th, 2006 at 4:47 pmKristol looks chipper in the TP thread pic > almost a gleeful look or is he involved as well with hookers?
May 5th, 2006 at 4:48 pmfrom Laura Rozen:
I hear that when Porter Goss went to meet with Negroponte today, he didn’t know he was going to be leaving the job. And that it would have been the President’s decision, not Negroponte’s. And that this may have to do with how Goss handled a management issue concerning Foggo. And perhaps with a tie in to HIPSI. And I hear that Fran Townsend has already been approached about taking Goss’s job — and turned it down. And I hear that agency folks are worried this is the end of the Agency as they know it — Pentagon role over intelligence will only increase. “I think there’s another shoe to drop,” said one source. Justin Rood has more on this.

May 5th, 2006 at 4:49 pmBill Kristol endorses all of the killing. He’s stumped as to why Porter Goss is tired of it all. Busheviks are upset that somebody won’t go along with all of the killing.
May 5th, 2006 at 4:51 pmHow appropriate that the downfall of Porter Goss began at the Watergate Hotel. Republicans just can’t seem to get enough of that place!
Yes, we are seeing “honor and integrity” in the White House. What a load of bullshit!
May 5th, 2006 at 4:52 pmSanto,
May 5th, 2006 at 4:52 pmWhy didn’t you credit Bob & Tom for that song?

i receive this news with as much excitement as a cia agent hearing about a young, nubile, hooker with a twelve-inch black strap-on and a temper!!!!
YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEE
oh, and fcuk bush
May 5th, 2006 at 4:52 pmProbably hookers &/or bribes but don’t overlook the fact that Goss is from Fl. & May 12th is the last date that anyone can enter the primary against Harris. Could be a last minute decision they had to give Nelson some opposition. Does anyone here put it past Bush to put politics ahead of national security?

May 5th, 2006 at 4:55 pmMinutes ago on Fox News, Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol
A small quibble I’ve made before, but I’m making it again. When referring to Bill Kristol please do him and us the favor of citing his full credentials. Edit the above to the following:
Minutes ago on Fox News, Weekly Standard editor and PNAC co-founder, Bill Kristol …
Thank you.
May 5th, 2006 at 4:55 pmIn my dreams (although I haven’t slept since this news broke), Goss is quitting because of a sudden bout of conscience. Perhaps “black site”-related.
Yeah, it’s unlikely, but….
May 5th, 2006 at 4:56 pmI love hookers!
May 5th, 2006 at 4:56 pmLib4 you forgot Cynthia McKinney. I am sure they can squeeze her back in somehow.
May 5th, 2006 at 5:01 pmJeff Gannon supports outing gay Reps……
This is just too good….
May 5th, 2006 at 5:03 pmOh something “popped” alright. Goss popped a woody in one of Brent Wilkes’ Republican hos.
May 5th, 2006 at 5:06 pmI heard this saying some years ago , correct me if it’s wrong , the fat rats get off the burning ship first , or something like that . Mabey they should put one of those turnstile doors in the pentegon the way they’re bolting out of there . With all these resignations you gotta wonder who’s next . Bushs’ cabinet allready strikes a similarity to the new Lynard Skinard , not many originals left , who’s going to ask ” gimmie three steps ” next .
May 5th, 2006 at 5:06 pmIn a related development, Jeff Gannon announced his engagement after popping the question to Goss late Thursday evening. The couple are to be married in a civil ceremony on Sanabel Island on November 7th.
May 5th, 2006 at 5:09 pmEither Negroponte pulled a “Sandanista” or Foggo was bringing him down or the Watergate records may have scared him. I don’t believe for a minute a disagreement between he and Negroponte, schoolmates, wasn’t personal. I also don’t believe it because someone that spends HOURS at the fitness center and dining couldn’t give a shit what Goss was doing. I think the more Goss was doing would be less Negroponte had to do. And that appears what Negroponte was looking for: less.
May 5th, 2006 at 5:10 pmsnark/ something “popped”? so did somebody forget to take their full course of antibiotics after hookergate? /snark
May 5th, 2006 at 5:16 pmPop goes the weasel.
May 5th, 2006 at 5:16 pmwha? did scott mcclellan get a job at the cia??
ahhh, i love these kind of fridays… bill maher ought to be quite good tonight…perhaps a pizza would be in order??
hehehhehehehehe
May 5th, 2006 at 5:16 pmI would ignore anything that comes out of Kristol’s face. The man is a robot tool bag and I figure that anything he says is patently false.
May 5th, 2006 at 5:17 pmThe REAL reason Porter Goss resigned — HOOKERGATE:

CIA’s Goss Drawn Into Hooker Probe?
By Justin Rood - April 27, 2006, 7:23 PM
Ken Silverstein reports at Harper’s blog on the spreading Cunningham-Wade-Wilkes prostitute scandal. He says more lawmakers, past and present, are being investigated. Sounds like he thinks House Intel Chair-turned-CIA Director Porter Goss is one of them:
I’ve learned from a highly-connected source that those under intense scrutiny by the FBI are current and former lawmakers on Defense and Intelligence comittees — including one person who now holds a powerful intelligence post. [emphasis added]
Yowzah.
Actually, make that a double-yowzah: Remember that Goss is the one who plucked one of Wilkes’ old San Diego friends, the unusual and colorful Kyle “Dusty” Foggo, out of CIA middle-management obscurity to be his #3 at the agency. At the time of Foggo’s appointment, no one could figure out where he came from, or how Goss knew him.
But if Goss was at the “parties,” I wonder, was Foggo there too? Did they see each other? Is this where Goss had an opportunity to gauge Foggo’s abilities, and determine he was qualified for the CIA executive director post?

May 5th, 2006 at 5:18 pmI just saw CNN, and the only thing happening in the Situation Room is Kennedy getting drunk and wrecking a car… so you guys are obviously making this up.
May 5th, 2006 at 5:18 pmi completely resent this thread…can’t a guy quit a job ‘to spend more time with his family’ without making a federal case about it????
May 5th, 2006 at 5:19 pmKristol is indeed one of the founding fathers of the PNAC and a neo-con through and through. But, I have noticed that he is the only prominent neo-con who will occasionaly be say something that is true.
May 5th, 2006 at 5:25 pm[…] … Also, before anybody jumps to some unseemly and grossly immature conclusion based on William Kristol’s public speculation that Goss’s warp-speed resignation was due to “something that popped this week“, consider this: what if Porter Goss was just doing top-secret research into how to protect Americans if terrorists try attack the homeland with weaponized amyl nitrate? Bet you’d feel pretty stupid then. […]
May 5th, 2006 at 5:31 pm#49 - Even the best/worst of us mess up sometimes.
May 5th, 2006 at 5:32 pmResign Now Bush!!! It’s over, you can’t stop the bleeding.
May 5th, 2006 at 5:33 pmMy guess is that Porter Goss refused to assassinate Steven Colbert for his skit.
May 5th, 2006 at 5:34 pm(fingers in ears)…lalalalalalalalalalalalalalal….when kristol says ANYTHING.
May 5th, 2006 at 5:35 pmResign Now Bush!!! It’s over, you can’t stop the bleeding. Actually, don’t resign Bush, because the longer you stay, the more you take down your republican House and Senate with you!!
May 5th, 2006 at 5:35 pmGlee at Republican troubles is fine but regardless of the cause of this debacle our country is in the midst of a war we are loosing at the same time that even our partisan, incompetent leadership is cracking up. Anyone want to bet the dollar is going to drop by at least 10% & maybe as much as 20% by the end of the summer?

May 5th, 2006 at 5:44 pmRep. Porter Goss said [August 5, 2004] that the uproar over allegations that White House officials purposely identified a covert CIA agent appears largely political and doesn’t yet merit an investigation by the House Select Committee on Intelligence, which he chairs. …
“‘I would say there’s a much larger dose of partisan politics going on right now than there is worry about national security,’ said Goss, R-Sanibel. ‘But I would never take lightly a serious allegation backed up by evidence that there was a willful — and I emphasize willful, inadvertent is something else — willful disclosure, and I haven’t seen any evidence.’

Oh Really?

May 5th, 2006 at 5:56 pmWayne Madson Report ….had some interesting facts about Goss last week. Something about Goss’ connection to Russian and Latin American drug and arms dealers. Kind of complicated for my simple minded thinking, but sounded serious.
.
May 5th, 2006 at 5:59 pmIs that the same Porter Goss who once said he wasn’t qualified to be CIA director?
May 5th, 2006 at 6:01 pm“something popped”?
May 5th, 2006 at 6:07 pmYeah, Goss just got dragged into the hooker scandal with a bunch of other folks.
hilarious.
I won’t get much argument with this one, but Goss’s resignation has to have been motivated by some blow-up (my money’s on Hookergate).
If the White House had planned this, as they reportedly said, there’s no way they wouldn’t delay the announcement so as to get the maximum mileage out of Patrick Kennedy’s car accident.
May 5th, 2006 at 6:12 pmhow far behind the curve can the right wing msm get?!
May 5th, 2006 at 6:13 pmhow many medals of freedom does Goss get?

May 5th, 2006 at 6:28 pmIsn’t it obvious? Bush is shutting down the CIA for all of their screw-ups. It’s about goddam time.
May 5th, 2006 at 6:36 pmWell Red considering Bush’s smashing success at running the federal government, I would imagine any agency he creates to replace the CIA will most likely be even for inefficient and incompotent. Please consider the DHS for example.

This is what happens when a medium priced call girl gets in with the wrong crowd and gets hooked on the juice, the kool-aid. She end’s walking down the highway in the hot pants with holes in them, giving head to the occasional passing trailer trash who’s too drunk to care that’s she’s a double bagger and smells real bad. You’ve fallen a long way, baby.

**** I guess if you consider “normal sex lives” to include rape….But I would think that limp-wristed progs would have great understanding, sympathy and affection for sexual weirdos and perverts - I don’t believe there are any sexual practices progs view as “out-of-the-mainstream”….
May 5th, 2006 at 7:22 pmMy opinion? This is another distraction, plain and simple.
Every time some “thing” comes along, many folks start saying,
“The wheels are coming off” or “This is it, they can’t survive this”.
And they always do.
If people who oppose this administration keep thinking “Bush is through”
every time something happens, it takes the heat off of Bush for awhile . See?
It give us false hope and buys them time.
Goss and prostitutes? This matters because…?

By KATHERINE SHRADER (Associated Press Writer)
From Associated Press
May 05, 2006 6:19 PM EDT
WASHINGTON - CIA Director Porter Goss resigned suddenly Friday, nudged out after a turmoil-filled 18 months at the spy agency as it struggled to forge a new identity in an era of intelligence blunders and government overhauls.
“NUDGED?”
“Latest Change?”
Spin, Spin, Spin.

May 5th, 2006 at 8:41 pm[…] Earlier today, CIA Director and Bush appointee Porter Goss resigned. I wrote a little bit about him here, after he resigned, in which I mentioned that he was unqualified for his job by his own direct admission. I didn’t speculate at the time about the reasons for the abrupt and unexpected resignation however (FDL has a word on who his replacement might be). Well, a few hours have passed, and the most widespread thing that’s going around is that his extremely abrupt resignation (the Department of Defense had no idea this was coming) was prompted by ‘something that happened this week.’ What could that mean? Only one thing. Hookergate. He was already rumored to be involved in the prostitution/bribery/poker scandal, and I wouldn’t be surprised if some more concrete links started showing up soon. […]
May 5th, 2006 at 8:43 pmStupid Republican Hermaphrodite continues to deny that a major player in the Dept of Homeland Security is a pedophile…..I can’t remember the freaks name but I’m sure Hermy has it tatooed on his/her ass.
Come on Hermy, he was caught redhanded. He’s going to jail for possessing child porn and trying to have sex with a child….
The Hermaphrodite is also convinced that Karl Rove is not gay…..ha!...Anyone with eyes can see that he’s a rump ranger who wears 4 stripes on his sleeve.
Hermaphrodite loves the sexual deviants, he calls them “moral” but what would a Stupid Republican Hermaphrodite know about moral?
Jump on the bandwagon Hermy, your base is abandoning you. You are one of the last fools. Sick fool I might add.
May 5th, 2006 at 8:50 pmSomething popped up this week? Hmmm… I wonder what? Oh, could it Goss’ deep involvement in the GOP Congressional hooker scandal that the MSM is completely ignoring? When even the right-wing Kristol suspects foul play, and the MSM says that it’s just “Josh Bolten flexing his muscle”? Give me a break.

May 5th, 2006 at 9:59 pmThe obviously forced resignation of Goss makes way for a man far higher on the scale of pure evil to take unhampered control of “intelligence” in the government and I do mean Mr. Negroponte, the butcher of Central America, etc.

He’s the butcher of Iraq at the moment, leave him there.
You guys suck! This isn’t important. That Kennedy guy was drunk and is an addict and he ran into a barrier. Our Vice President shoots a guy in the face and we can’t hear anything about it. The CIA director embroiled in scandal resigns his position in less than 2 years out of the blue. I know what’s going on. I’ve just watched 45 minutes of Anderson Cooper and they haven’t mentioned Goss. It’s all Kennedy. Is the Canadian border still open, or have they built a wall to keep us out yet? God, please help us. This world can’t be real!
I give up!
May 5th, 2006 at 10:32 pmMy contribution to the speculation on Goss. I think it’s bigger than Hookergate. Here’s why.
May 5th, 2006 at 10:32 pmKristol said. “The story of the Middle East in the ’80s and ’90s is increased radicalism, increased support of terrorists. … I think the president was right to break this cycle, no matter how clumsily we’ve handled it.
Some KHristol Wordplay.
I think the sitting chimp was right to muck up this world, no matter how many People we’ve killed unapologetical
May 5th, 2006 at 11:01 pmThere is an old trick in Washington, DC, that if something bad has to happen, then make sure it can be delayed for press release on a Friday afternoon! Goss was forced to resign for doing something that is too nasty to cover-up, so when the Kennedy story came out Rove said dump Goss immediately, while the press is distracted with that feeding frenzy on Ted’s son! Bush and Rove hope that the Goss resignation gets buried over the weekend by TV news shows harping on Kennedy clan being drunks! By Monday they hope to announce a replacement for Goss as the press continues to stew over Kennedy’s! Ted’s son screwing up might bury this very important sex scandal that took down a devious Bush thug, so damn the press for being so gullible and stupid going after the petty saga of the Kennedy’s!
May 5th, 2006 at 11:02 pmOf course the Arms sales was increasing during that period.
But not because of Terrorists, but because of Arms Sales to these countries. Who makes the Arms Sales?
~~~~
http://www.fas.org/asmp/fast_facts.htm
Since 1992, the United States has exported more than $142 billion dollars worth of weaponry to states around the world.[1] The U.S. dominates this international arms market, supplying just under half of all arms exports in 2001, roughly two and a half times more than the second and third largest suppliers. [2 ] U.S. weapons sales help outfit non-democratic regimes, soldiers who commit gross human rights abuses against their citizens and citizens of other countries, and forces in unstable regions on the verge of, in the middle of, or recovering from conflict.
~~
So Kristol Was not totally lying, but he DID negate to tell people WHERE these Arms are coming from.
Mr KHristol you should resign whatever Board or Panel positions you hold.
May 5th, 2006 at 11:08 pmThats the Bush Hegelian approach to bad news Jay Randal =)
May 5th, 2006 at 11:11 pmYes post 115 > Karl Rove takes advantage of every opportunity! When Cheney shot the old lawyer in the face, Rove used that as a distraction for the press to keep them away from more important emerging scandal items! Press always falls for the stupid news like a drunk Kennedy, and lets an important scandal like Goss resigning to be buried!
May 5th, 2006 at 11:37 pmAt least Clinton could shag em’ down without havin’ to pay for it.
May 5th, 2006 at 11:42 pmI’ve always wondered why no one took any heat on the other side of Rove for letting him know about Plame’s CIA employment in the first place, knowing who can and can’t be trusted with knowledge… it would be interesting if Goss’ name came up at hearings this week.
May 6th, 2006 at 12:37 am#100 - “…. Republican Hermaphrodite continues to deny that a major player in the Dept of Homeland Security is a pedophile…” - STUPidEM
*****That freak from Homeland Security deserves to be thrown in prison if he’s convicted. (and with the evidence I’ve heard about, a conviction seems certain.) But StupidMORON, retaining any information older than 3 minutes, seems beyond you limited capabilities, given your tiny IQ.
“Anyone with eyes can see that he’s a rump ranger who wears…” - more degrading blather from STUPidEM
May 6th, 2006 at 12:57 am***** I’m sure the gay constituency of the “progressive movement” is impressed with the preoccupation lefties have with “all things” homosexual. For people who supposedly are tolerant of deviance, too many of you like to run around the “playground” calling people “rump rangers” “fudge packers” etc. You are sick…
Post 123 MA > you are mentally ill and your posts on here prove it! Never in my life have I heard a female use the language you spew?! You are a confused male drag queen, so admit it!
May 6th, 2006 at 1:16 amJay, I only quote you phony, vulgar homophobes here at TP. You must not meet many real women - and we know how frustrated straight, supposedly sophisticated women are who resort to dishing stories with their gay hair dressers. Sorry, sweetie. I work in an environment with crime, criminals, DA’s and cops. Sugar, you wouldn’t last two seconds in a jail or a court room… I don’t think you read or comprehend well what is written. We would call that “mitigating circumstances” - but in your case, evidence of your stupidity is so overwhelming that it would do no good…
Good night!!
May 6th, 2006 at 1:36 amwait, i’m a woman? no. i’m a man?? help me!
May 6th, 2006 at 1:49 amjust read a popular facist website and a handful of the mighty hermaphrodites there are saying that goss quit so that he could run for senate in florida instead of that crazy make-up laden clown kkkharris…
May 6th, 2006 at 2:16 amBrilliant minds think alike? More like two idiots reading from the same script.
May 6th, 2006 at 2:51 amThis is a typical spy agency power strggle, such as have gone on in the American spy establishment since WW1. Any Nation needs some sort of intelligence service. It’s a critical part of nationalism. The USA has always had a problem with the balancing act between an effective intelligence service and it democratic foundations.
May 6th, 2006 at 8:46 amThat is why the USA has traditionally depended on talented amateurs that were drawn to a cause and had a flair for the work. That got us up to WWW1, but by then it became obvious to the Military that talented amateurs were not getting it done and some sort of orginazation would do a better job of sniffing out German agents in Maxico and the Carribian. So an army major (Van Deman) started a collection point (CIP-Corps of Intelligence Police) for collating the data gathered by various sources. That effort was both unofficial and illegal under the laws of that period. Then came the Aliens and Seditiion Act and the APL (American Protective League) which was much more methodical and ruthless then the SS or KGB ever dreamed of being.
The point is that this is nothing new. The turf battles between Donavan and Hoover are the stuff of legand among the bureaucratly inclined. I recomemnd “The Armies of Ignorance” by William R. Corson for a complete history of American intelligence. It’s dry but informative
As a former member of the black hole gang at NSA, I am overjoyed by anything BAD that happens to the CIA. I have long thought that they need to return to their original mission , which was forming a central collection point for data analysis.
The Spy business has 3 parts. Collection, Collation, Dissemination. These 3 functions must be kept seperate for a National Intelligence agency to be effective. Checks and balances. This is historically the way the rest of the world does it. In the USA, Intelligence became a cash cow over which bureaucrats fought furiously. If Negroponte understands this fact, and it looks as if he does, then America will get a much more effective Intelligene service out of this. We will have data collection being done by over a dozen seperate agencies, with the ‘take’ funnelled into whereever the fomer CIA analysists have gone. The DHS will deal out the finished produxt to whoever has a need for it, Any action that needs to be taken will be done by SOCOM. With a little luck and a lot of Congressional oversite, America could get the Intelligence structure it needs.
BTW, any opinions on the vist of the head of Mossad? It is extremely unusual for the head of a foriegn Intelligence Service to brief the President of the United States. I wonder what he told PRESIDENT Bush that the CIA should have and didn’t.
““I don’t think you read or comprehend well what is written. Comment by Mighty Moronâ€
Hehe, that sentence is very funny - but I bet you’re too STUPID to know why. Any english majors out there care to explain it to Mighty Moron?”
Now I ain’t no english major, but that sentence sure do seem clunky to me.
May 6th, 2006 at 9:17 amQuestion: who gives a shit about Kristol’s views on ANYTHING? WHAT in the world ever qualified him as an expert on US foreign policy - someone please tell me.
May 6th, 2006 at 10:13 amYOUR TAXPAYER DOLLARS — FUNNELED TO CRONIES — WHO GIVE KICKBACKS TO CONGRESSMEN AND THE CIA DIRECTOR — IN THE FORM OF HOOKERS!!
THANK GOD our most Christian President George Bush has returned honesty and integrity to Washington!
May 6th, 2006 at 10:42 am“poker, hookers and spooks”
May 6th, 2006 at 10:48 amOh my!
Maureen Dowd’s catchy phrase, reminds me again of this Wizard of Oz administration, everyone from the Wizard behind the curtain to people with no heart or brains are well represented.
[…] Goss' resignation was sudden. It "popped up out of nowhere". He has been linked with a corrupt Defense Contractor via is third in command, "Dusty Foggo", whom he met at "poker parties", where there were never any women prostitutes. The limo company that provided the hookers is under investigation for fraud. Scott McClellan, prior victim of horrible gay rumors, was helped out the door abruptly, possibly at the urging of Josh Bolten, DC batchelor. Jeff Gannon officially (and unceremoniously) comes out of the closet… Get what I'm aiming at? The problem isn't that our elected officials are corrupt, that our intelligence apparatus can be compromised by sex and shame, and that married men have put their careers, spouses, and children all in jeopardy. […]
May 6th, 2006 at 11:17 amPost 125 Mighty Moron > Again I repeat NO females use the language you spew on here! You are a male, but you try to claim you are a female, so that means by deduction you must be a drag queen?! Admit it and the truth will set you free and cure your hatred of other people!
NO real lawyer would ever use the words you froth in here either! Lawyers tend to choose their words carefully and avoid slander! So by deduction again, you most likely are a jail guard or some lowly DA’s gopher boy assistant?! No way could someone like you pass the Barr Exam!
May 6th, 2006 at 11:20 amGeneral Hayden is being proposed as the next CIA Director, so everyone contact your Senators and demand that they grill that freak like a sausage, at the confirmation hearings! Hayden believes in torture and death squads, so he must be prevented from becoming the new CIA Director! Plus he is a stooge of Negroponte who ran the torture and death squad operations in Central America under Reagan! Both of them are sadistic killers!
May 6th, 2006 at 11:37 amIt is so entertaining just sitting back and watching this administration implode!
May 6th, 2006 at 12:10 pmExcuse me, who the hell is Krystol.? …LOL…. I don’t get pictures on NPR so haven’t seen this guy. No matter…….Good posts all….Hay Ryan, good to see you are still helping with our resident MA court house restroom attendent…..He (MA) is such a waste of our time…….Blessings
May 6th, 2006 at 12:12 pm‘I would say there’s a much larger dose of partisan politics going on right now than there is worry about national security,’ said Goss”
This is a great LINE!!
USE IT!
GOSS siad BUSH Admin was Weak on National Security
Of course he is! We knew THAT, but thanks Mr Goss!
May 6th, 2006 at 12:17 pmAnd of course Bush Admin is playing partisan politics.
Dear Jay - The truth is a perfect defense abainst slander or libel….Try again….
May 6th, 2006 at 12:44 pmThe MSM is still refusing to acknowledge the truth of Goss’ resignation, which is his connection to the GOP hooker scandal. They’re still buying the BA’s official line of “Goss resigned because he just did”. This is so obvious. Yet so fun to watch.
http://www.lcoliberal.blogspot.com
May 6th, 2006 at 3:04 pmThe latest on Goss’ and the GOP male hooker scandal: Right now on LCL
The only reason for the suddeness is that Goss had become an actual danger to Bush. Goss had hoped that Bush would sit on the Hookergate scandal and Goss could keep his job. When Goss found that Bush’s loyalty was nonexistant, he then started an agency op to get something/anything on the Bush family to apply pressure. Baker found out on Friday and Goss lost his head.
May 7th, 2006 at 8:31 am# 85 . Mighty Aprodite doesnt understand the concept of “hipocracy”. When you reich wing nazi’s condemn everything that isnt meat and potatoes, then you turn around and do what you just comdemned, thatt is called “hipocracy” and its a sin far above and beyond the act itself. So you see, when us lose and sinful liberals do naughty things, its ok, because well, we never said it wasnt. Also, there is a biiig difference between having sex with a hooker, and having sex with a hooker and then writing legislation for the people who got the hookers for you. So Mighty Hermaphrodite, please learn to understand things like “irony” before you shower us with your golden wisdowm again.
May 7th, 2006 at 12:50 pmLittle strange that they wouldn’t announce it live like they do any other time. Also, at the end of a news cycle and not before. Hoping the story could be put on hold (by the Kennedy thing and the “faux” news people). It could be spun if they had more time.
I think what “popped up” was a little hooker wanting some money…..and maybe a link to the Plame scandal.
I’ll call this one Hookergate, or Watergate II
NOPERS, THEY ARE ONE IN THE SAME.
The REPUGnicans/TROLLS are few and far between, so they have to vary their screen names to make it look like they are many…..SO PITIFUL.
Also, does anyone remember the great days when their ID’s were hijacked, and beautiful, truth and nice things finally flowed through their comments? I miss those good spirited turn the REPUGnican tricks against them times.
I can assure you, they are two totally separate people. I-RIGHT-I can’t post since last Friday, and as you see, MA is freely spouting away. IRI didn’t believe half of what he said, whereas MA is 100% serious about his nonsense.
May 9th, 2006 at 8:31 am[…] There is a lot of key board pounding out there about Goss today and no doubt there will be more, but for now this post by Larry Johnson is the don't miss read. I'd write something about the sex angle to the story, but for now all there is, is that tidbit from Bill Kristol, and since Bill is such a twisted propagandist I'll just leave it alone for now. In our neighboring town in Illinois a man of a good family and of good standing in the community began to speculate on the Chicago Board of Trade. He was as honest a person, perhaps, as you or I. He thought he was. For years he had been a trusted, Christian worker, and treasurer of the Sunday-school. But he made just one venture too many. He had lost all; could not even replace the Sunday-school fund that he had simply used, no doubt expecting to replace it with usury; but the loss and disgrace were too much for him to face, so he deserted home and friends and honor and all, and secretly ran away. The speculating gambler became a deserting embezzler. The person who has acquired a passion for betting on races and games is on a fair way to professional gambling and to speculating on the markets. And rarely does one ever escape these, if once he gets a start in them. […]
May 16th, 2006 at 3:59 am[…] The Porter Goss resignation has taken off like wildfire. First up we have this great little piece from Think Progress: Minutes ago on Fox News, Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol said he doesn’t believe the White House spin that Porter Goss’ resignation had been planned for at least a few weeks. I think there were either serious disputes or some internal problem at the agency or some scandal conceivably involving an associate of Goss’. Who knows? Something that popped this week and that caused this sudden event this Friday. […]
