World War III.

President Bush’s new name for the war on terror.

104 Responses to “World War III.”

  1. Joel says:

    Has he no shame?

  2. Nick Caine says:

So Iraq is the world then? And there was I thinking that Bush’s America was the world, the whole world and nothing but the world, so help us God. Or does he mean that terrorism is a war that is going on throughout the world. Terrorism was around way before 9/11, and probably always will be. But for Bush to state that it’s WWIII is going too far. As America is the only country that believes they’re fighting a global war. The Brits have been dealing with the fall-out of terrorist attacks for over thirty years; we never stated that we were at war with anybody. We may be in a conflict in Iraq, but we are most definitely not at war with Iraq. For a start who are the visible enemy, and what country, ideology or organisation do they represent?

They’re going to run out of names and titles to give to this piece of Bush folly before long.

  3. james risser says:

    is it hitler yet?

  4. glamberson says:

Only someone who doesn’t understand war and missed the last two world wars could call this World War III.

Are there no bounds to the idiocy of this man?

  5. NYite says:

If Bush thinks this is WWIII, then Cheney may have just launched WWIV with Russia

  6. glamberson says:

This is so dumb, I’m going to give it another comment.

In WWI and WWII, attempts to avoid war failed. Therefore, the WORLD was embroiled in war. Real war. You know, the kind with armies from dozens of countries (their ENTIRE armies, BTW, not just 80 members of some military police company) decmiate entire countries and each other, killing millions upon millions. You know, destroying the world order as it had existed before and stuff like that.

In contrast, the Cold War, for example, was a long struggle during which comparatively little actual war was fought. It was a philosophical struggle, but vastly different from a World War. Our leaders deftly kept us from entering armed conflict head on with our enemy.

By calling this war on terror World War III, Bush is effectively saying, I AM INCOMPETENT and cannot (or will not) avoid engulfing the entire world in war. (Oh, and forget that the main struggle in this war is within the Muslim world rather than completely a struggle of Muslim world vs. everyone else.)

    Wow. What an idiot.

I better buy some more of those shirts that say, “Don’t blame me, I didn’t vote for Bush.”

  7. james risser says:

the new photo of the fuhrer…

actually, at least hitler was a soldier, wasn’t he?

  8. Seixon says:

I’d say that whatever is going to go down with Iran is going to be WWIII. Since Iran has threatened to unleash a hoarde of terrorists on us all if we look at them the wrong way, I’m thinking that Bush wasn’t that far off the mark here. A war with Iran would definitely set the entire Middle East ablaze, and test the allegiance of Russia and China to either them, or us.

WWII was mainly a fight over Europe.
WWIII will be mainly a fight in the Middle East, with a good amount of terrorists involved.

  9. CRUCIFER + X says:

    ….And he doeth great wonders,
so that he maketh fire come down
from heaven on the earth in the sight
    of men,

  10. quicksand says:

Oh I had a few tonight. And I am angry. I am angry. Angry. Angry. Angry.

  11. Briseadh na Faire says:

Seixon, “WWIII will be mainly a fight in the Middle East, with a good amount of terrorists involved.”

Can you be so sure? Are you willing to bet your life on that statement, and the lives of your children and grandchildren (assuming you have offspring)?

Speaking purely as a Shaman, I have already seen the entire eastern seaboard of the United States in flames. As events unfold, this vision grows stronger.

  12. Paul in LA says:

    That dirty bastard.

We’re getting to the ‘drag entrails through the street’ phase of the operation.

Marie Antoinette, move over. There’s a new girl in town, and she wants to take your place.

  13. Paul in LA says:

“is it hitler yet?” — james risser

No, Hitler lost his SAG card, and had to blow his brains out.

We’ve already watched Gremlins III: The Fall of Clamp Towers.

This latest episode would be Gremlins IV: Vectorscope Labs Releases Worldwide War Virus

Cheney and Jorge clone themselves into a two-headed monster that hates itself. Ugly stuff.

Btw, did you notice that Bush rolled out one of his doubles at the Colbert Brainwashington Press Corpse event? I wonder if he has as many as Hussein.

Here’s a question: HOW DO YOU KNOW YOU HAVE THE REAL GWB?

And, no, pouring water on them is NOT a good idea.

  14. EasyRider says:

Bush needs another terrorist attack so he can stay in office by declaring a natioanl state of emergency and subspend all elections and until he declares the Nationla emergency is over.

    Emperor for life!

  15. Jack says:

Can we go back and rethink this whole “war on terror” phrasing. Wasn’t 9/11 really a crime against humanity…

If the war on terror is like the war on drugs, we are doomed.

Did we have a war after Ted Kaczynski, after Tim McVeigh and Terry Nichols, there is always going to be nuts in the world. It seems, the “war on terror” is more of an excuse for a power grab than about National Security.

  16. Vance says:

Whats the old dinner table hypothetical? If you could go back in time and stop Hitler before he began, would you? My guess is my grandchildren will ask a similar question one day…

  17. Abby says:

Maybe Bush just found out that every US President since WWII, with the possible exception of Jimmy Carter, has been a “war” President. Nobody really remembers a war President….UNLESS it’s a World War President. Everybody remembers a World War President. WWIII, here we come.

  18. Bruce Gorton says:

Someone should tell Bush that it isn’t a surprise if you telegraph it for 3 months before the date.

    Prepare for Red October.

  19. Paul in LA says:

” I have already seen the entire eastern seaboard of the United States in flames.” –Briseadh na Faire

It isn’t hard to conjure morbid images. It actually never has been.

But relishing them as a vision of the future is exactly WHAT progressives DON’T do.

  20. Cyra Brown says:

GWB says- “It was unbelievably heroic of those folks on the airplane to recognize the danger and save lives.” But their sacrifice would not have been necessary, HAD HE DONE HIS JOB!!!!! And that very day, had he just grounded every plane, after learning of the first one, let alone the second one, the last two planes would never have taken off!! Name it and claim it, you incompetent F*CK!!! You are the “Decider”, after all. You are also the “Anti-Midas”, everything you touch turns to SH*IT!!! Sorry for the foul mouth, but GAWD!!! You all know what I mean.

  21. Baghdad Tony says:

Well, it sure didn’t take long for the Fox News influence to show up. O’Reilly screaming every night for the past 5 years that we are in World War III and Snow showing up to whisper it in the Shrub’s ear every second.

  22. Bob Brandon says:

    How about, instead:

    Bush World War

    or

    World War Bush

    or

    Bush War of the World

(this could be fun, grimly so…)

  23. Smedley says:

Flight 93 was shot down after the highjackers had been overun ….The goverment did NOT want alive hijackers thats why the last 3 minutes of voice recordings were cut short and do not aggre with the official timing of the crash and the actual sizemic time of the crash………And of course the engine 8 miles away

  24. unbelievable says:

I wrote my “Representatives” (which I call them lightly since they aren’t representing anything) to yet again demand they represent We The People and get this tyrant out of office.

I’m sure one of them will send me the standard form letter, and the other two will ignore me (it’s how we dance apparently).

    http://www.congress.org

  25. Ron says:

Let’s skip WW III and WW IV, and go right to WW V.

George Bush should travel to Iraq and do some of the fighting himself. What the heck, why not? What’s the holdup? Whatsamatta with George? If he’s the war president, well then, he should be marching and shooting too. Maybe he’s chicken or something.

  26. Seixon says:

    Cyra,

And that very day, had he just grounded every plane, after learning of the first one, let alone the second one, the last two planes would never have taken off!!

Ehm… Flight 93 took off at 8:42AM – 3 minutes before the first plane hit the WTC. Try again.

  27. dumbstruck says:

    Looks good on a resume.

  28. Bill Christhole says:

Shrub talks about war like its Wrestlemania____? And I am sure that many of the morons who voted for him do too.

  29. trueblue says:

    Why not draft his kids?
Send them over there to fight in his glorious war?

How fast do you think diplomacy would be employed then?

  30. Paul in Mexico says:

Here is what is playing out folks, read it and weep.

The only progress needed in Iraq is a political solution, so what is going to occur is this. The Iraqis form a government, finally.

Our very accomplished Secretary of State. we affectionately call her Condi, will declare victory.

She will then order everyone to the rooftops of the embassy to await the helicopters.

And – we will have victory with honor, such as bestowed upon us by Henry Kissinger.

  31. Blue State Red says:

Actually President Bush is using the right name, only with the wrong number. We won World War III when President Reagan (the last U.S. president to be honored by the Left’s ceaseless hatred) led us to victory over the former Soviet Union. We are now engaged in world War IV, and have been since 1993. Of course, our president in 1993 had no clue how to identify a state of war, let alone how tro fight one.

You guys are going to gey us all killed.

  32. Nick Caine says:

WWII was mainly a fight over Europe.
WWIII will be mainly a fight in the Middle East, with a good amount of terrorists involved.

    Comment by Seixon
    ————————————————————————————————-
World War II was far from being a fight over Europe, Seixon. Since when has North- Africa, Australasia and Asia been in Europe. Think before making such statements Seixon, it makes you look ill-informed. It was called a World War, and that is exactly what it was.

  33. Supermarket Mgr. says:

He’s looking for better shelf placement for his aggression, rebranding to WWIII will give new fear motivation for the public to act and make the next impulse buy.
Now just why did I buy that?

  34. Sharon Cox says:

Good Morning America and all posters here. I have a favor to ask…..Would some one here, more computer savy than I, get a thread or web site going where we could e-mail all (non) representatives with one letter at once. No matter, left right or center. To be able to send an email to all of them at once instead of the way I have to do it now, we could bury them in e-mails……..If all these no account fools got mail from us it would accomplish at least one thing, clog up their computers the way they have cloged up and ruined our country……..Any help on this.???????…Blessings

  35. ElectricBassPlayer says:

I don’t hate George Bush for no reason.

I hate him because he earned it.

He had to work hard to make me despise him, to make me mock him, to make me fear him, to make me lose any shred of respect for him and his perverse version of fundamental Christianity.

This is just another episode in a long line of bizarre, incomprehensible, frankly stupid statements and ideas to issue from his dimly-lit brain. If he was still just a failed oilman, or still just a failed ballclub owner, I could probably like him as a person. But now he’s also a failed President who has made a shambles of my beloved country’s reputation and represents a continuing danger to the stability of the world and my children’s future.

  36. Ron says:

  37. trueblue says:

    Supermarket Mgr.

Funny, I’m saving everything, ’cause if this idiot really does succeed in getting us into WWIII, I’m OUTTA here! Canada, Switzerland, I don’t care. I live on the east coast, and if Briseadh na Faire’s visions are correct, I’d rather split and be alive than stand up for a war I don’t believe in and be nuked.

  38. Bush Bites says:

    What a meat head.

Obviously, he’s finally starting to realize his whole presidency will be judged on the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and the fact that he didn’t get Bin Laden and didn’t find WMDs is going to make his leadership look pretty….lame, if not criminal.

So, if he calls it WW III, he figures he might get a pass from historians.

But, he won’t get a pass, of course.

They’re already considering him WORST PRESIDENT EVER.

  39. trueblue says:

And NO, Trolls, it doesn’t make me a traitor!

  40. Marie says:

Bush has said he wants to be a “war president” because that will ensure his place in history. So he will start the war, name the war, and settle his legacy.
The man is a lunatic, a madman who cannot comprehend the magnitude of his words and actions.
His place in history will more likely be as the “worst president.” Of course for history to be written, it implies there is a future – something he seems hell-bent on eliminating.

  41. Bush Bites says:

Actually President Bush is using the right name, only with the wrong number. ———-

    I voted for Reagan. Twice.

And, while I think he had something to do with the fall of communism, I also think Gorbachev also had quite a bit to do with it, and it would have never happened if Reagan and Gorbachev didn’t start negotiating with each other instead of trying to outdo each other in the arms race.

    But, anyway, my point is:

George W. Bush is no Ronald Reagan.

  42. meg_mac says:

the Flight 93 revolt was the FIRST AND ONLY response to terrorism heretofore. Goober has done nothing since!! why havent we found Bin Laden? why are soldiers and Iraqi’s still dying from car bombs? why can you still smuggle a knife on a jetliner 23% of the time? why are Homeland security people being arrested for child porn and solicitation? we are LESS safe now than at any time since Flight 93!!

  43. GSD says:

    Blue State Red.

So, from your rhetoric one would think the Republicans were spending the 90’s ringing alarm bells and telling everyone about the threat of Islamic terrorism. Nope, you spent 8 years chasing after Bill Clinton’s cock.

    Clinton’s Record

    McVeigh-executed.

WTC I bombers-all convicted and jailed for life.

    Unabomber-convicted for life.

    African Embassy bombers-caught and jailed.

Assassination attempt on Bin laden, unsuccessful.

    Heckuva job.

  44. Blue State Red says:

    I voted for Reagan. Twice.

Big deal. You obviously didn’t learn anything from his historic leadership.

The arms “negotiations” you recall so fondly consisted of Reagan building a bigger, better U.S. military, putting missiles in Europe, and starting the first missile defense research – all over screeching howls of prtest from the Left. These “negotiations finally reached the point where Gorbachev simply folded his cards because he knew the corrupt Soviet system could not match our economic and technological prowess. This remains a textbook example of “peace through strength.”

George Bush is exactly the same kind of leader, albeit without Reagan’s communications skills. He, too, has provided tough, historic leadership in this time of war. As with Reagan, and Churchill before him, history will judge Bush’s critics far more harshly than Bush himself.

  45. trueblue says:

    BWWAAAHHHHHH!!!
Thanks for that belly laugh, BSR!

    Comment by trueblue — May 6, 2006 @ 9:26 am

I agree 100%. Now if we could just convince some nice military personnel to sign them up…

  47. meg_mac says:

BLUESTATERED…. Reagan was as corrupt if not more than Bush. plus he had alzheimers and had to have Nancy consult her astrologer for decisions. He was NOT the president i would cite as great. can you say CONTRA_IRAN?????? please identify the source of your quote?? unless Gorbachev himself said what you quoted and you can post the link i prefer to think you are just wishful thinking!! History will prove that neither Bush or Reagan did anything for the democracy they so claimed to love!!

  48. Bruce Gorton says:

Reagan was, in effect, the second most over-rated piece of crap president America ever had (The most over-rated pieve of crap president ever, was JFK, a Democrat.) His first term economy in essence added a new term to economics (Reaganomics) to describe his method of massively screwing up, and his enviromental policy was dictated by a guy whose stated belief was that we should destroy the world more quickly in order to bring about the rapture.

The guy was an absolute disaster, who just happened to be in power when communism imploded. He simply got lucky with the timing.

  49. JIMBO says:

JFK was not an overrated piece of crap. Had he not been shot, he would have planned for things that might have kept Bubblr Boy from becoming President.

  50. CRUCIFER + X says:

….And there was given unto him
    a mouth speaking great things
    and blasphemies ; and power
was given unto him to continue
    forty and two months.

  51. meg_mac says:

BRUCE… i dont think kennedy should be judged as the worst president ever. i mean he was barely in office not even 2 years. in terms of inspiration i believe he brought the us together with a vision that has been lacking since. best ever quote.. ‘ask not what your country can do for you. ask what you can do for your country’!!

  52. Bruce Gorton says:

    Meg_Mac

Not the worst, not even in the 10 worst, just the most over-rated, and not all that good in the time he was there. He gets remembered fondly for dealing ably with the Cuban missile crisis, but I still get the feeling that that was caused to some extent by the same sort of policies that led to the Bay of Pigs.

LBJ did significantly more good then JFK was willing to (particularly on civil rights and fighting the KKK) but gets remembered as the worse president.

  53. Sharon Cox says:

JFK hardly had time enough to accomplish what he dreamed of for our country. The peace courps was his idea…….History will not and does not portray him as a bad leader. Reagan and Bush are both in a small, same boat mentalety with one exception, Regan was a better actor and appeared to be less arrogant…Both aspired to the big business sell out of our country and constitution and trickle down ecanomics (piss down our backs and tell us it ’s raining.) Regan on the one hand had alsheimers and surrounded himself with knoledgable waromongers because of his loss of brain power, bush on the other hand surrounds himself with arrogance, relegion and inept evil people with one goal in mind, totaly dismanteling our government and turning it into his dictatorship. Mentaly they are very similar because bush drowned and coked up his brain cells. Bush puts loyalty above knoledge and country. He does not give a shit rather someone is compatent only that they are ass kissers to him. the decider. Ha!

It is plain to me this bunch are trying to get rid of the constitution and bill of rights. If I were a representative I would be worried for my job, not getting voted out but totaly eliminating the house and senate all together. All the side line (750) signings on all these bills in the past 5 years have the ear marks of the bush dictatorship. It’s plain to see already how ineffective the house and senate have become. It’s the bush way or the highway. They are behind the division of our country and ready to declare marshall law at this drunk, druggies whim……Blessings

  55. GSD says:

    BSR,

    Look at Bush’s record.

*9/11Worst terrorist attack in the nations history on his watch.-Bin Laden, Ayman Zawahiri and Lullah Omar still at large.

*Anthrax attacks on Congress, Senate and the media-perpertrator still at large.

*Afghanistan invasion in 2001 to overthrowTaliban.-Unresolved and signs that the Taliban has reconstituted-Unfinished, weak representative democracy established, much of nation still ruled by clans and warlords. 372 US and coalition troops dead. Afghani deaths not tracked.

*Iraq-Prememptive war to stop WMD’s. No WMD’s found, Iraq is the most dangerous nation in the world. 2,635 dead US and coalition troops dead. Iraqi deaths not tracked.

*Pakistan is still ruled by a military dictator, and the Taliban is resurgent there as is a low level civil war.

*North Korea announced for the first time that they have nuclear weapons-This on Bush’s watch.

*Iran is telling the US that it will not negotiate. Threats by the US are unheeded.

*International terrorist incidents since the Iraq war have increased by scores.

*Russia is slipping back into an authoritarian state. Reports that the Cold War is back on again.

*China is building a large military and is forming newfound alliances in South American and Africa and Asia.

*Much of South America is spinning away from the US sphere of influence.

Besides that, Bush is doing a heckuva job.

    -GSD

  56. meg_mac says:

BRUCE… thanks for the clarification. as for LBJ i agree with you. kennedy’s innaugural address was the pinnacle. But in terms of the nations psyche i liked kennedy and his vision. lbj more practical and hard-nosed which tends to get things done. i also liked Jimmy Carter. had it not been for Reagan’s end around run with the terrorists in Iran i think he might have earned a second term.

  57. wisedup says:

I like the ‘bush war’ term, because that is what it is. What dumbo came up with the WWIII crap?…what’s next ‘WAR OF THE WORLDS’…..all this is proof of the desperation of the bush gang. If we declaired ‘Un-War’, and removed his war powers abuse, many lives would be saved.

  58. Bruce Gorton says:

    GSD

Didn’t the first ever Islamic terrorist attack on England happen under Bush’s watch too?

  59. David B says:

We are living through the life and times of the worst President the country has ever known. This ass thinks he’s a f*ing king and answers to no one. You can pull that off if you have more braincells firing than everyone else but the lights are out on this porch. He only thinks he’s ahead of everone else, or more accurately, doesn’t care. Another member of the American aristocrasy, King Ronald Reagan, was a legend in his own mind, if he had one. His legacy was (is) the countless homeless people who wonder our cities. In that he was like King George, he didn’t give a crap for the commoners and those in need either. Death to the conservative movement, your lack of intellect and fear to strech your wings has held back our great country’s potential over the past 75 years. May history record your march of the country to oblivion.

  60. Bluestocking says:

Funny, that…considering that the members of PNAC and others of the neoconservative persuasion have for years allegedly referred to the Cold War as World War III and claimed that the fall of the Soviet Union means we won (conveniently ignoring the fact that the Russian bear still has plenty of nukes and is therefore only dozing, not dead). Supposedly, the neoconservatives refer to the War On Terror as World War IV — which is again odd, considering that Einstein always said that one would be fought with sticks and stones…

*Sigh* — looks as though Bush can’t get anything right, not even something as simple as this.

  61. Zookeeper says:

George W. Bush is a mad man. He doesn’t comprehend how powerful words can be. He must be removed from office.

  65. Sharon Cox says:

Marie, good post. I have been wondering about that myself. Scary. Bush and all these saudies have their hands up each others dresses and in bed together all the time…One day, and I hope I live long enough to see it, all their dirty tricks are going to be revealed…..Blessings

  66. Bruce Gorton says:

You need to get rid of Jack Bauer. You need to break away from the violent revenge fantasy because ultimately, violence doesn’t work anymore, and vengeance never has. The new era is not one where wars will dictate power, but where we as human beings will move past this crap and onto understanding where real power lies. So the Iraqi’s shoot down a chopper, then two more sent in, and four more Iraqi’s shoot them down. It is endless, it is tragic, and it is a waste of time.

Real power does not lie in the ability to make weapons, but in the ability to make a strong economy. Real power is not the power to destroy, but the power to create, it is not the power to dominate, but the power to unify. You need to abandon the power of the atomic bomb, and embrace the power of the lit lightbulb.

We are in the age of the small, and it is the little things which will dictate the path of the future. All of our weapons, all of those nukes, are meaningless. Look in front of you and think for a second, what has the internet really opened up? We don’t quite see each other as aliens anymore.

The tide is changing, and so what that the tide does not change in a single wave? The solution is coming, and shit if I don’t have Let It Be playing in my head right now.

  69. the fly-man says:

A World War, would that include all of the un-uniformed, non flag bearing jihadists that the Iraqis are fighting right now? The misperception of the PNAC crowd is asstounding. Perpetuate old dried up notions of supreme global power, secure what little foreign oil supplies we need to ride out the hate against us period and the increpid feeble Federalists will prevail. Ask the President 2 things, what’s left in Iraq to defend? Also why do we recognize OPEC? Make it 3, Where is AQ Kahn?

    Nice post. Thoughtful.

  72. Marty Didier says:

From my point of view, this ISN’T about a War on Terror, it’s an OPPORTUNITY to make Corruption Money!

You CAN’T have Corruption UNLESS there are opportunities to spend Treasury money. Once the gate is open, the horses can run free! In order to spend Treasury money, there has to be a REASON. The reason or what they wanted us to believe, has turned out to be lies. Criminals lie in order to get what they want. The rest is really history and already some of it is in the news.

But the real test, if you want to challenge what I’m talking about, is to surface where the corruption money went. In other words, “Follow the Money!”

My exinlaws joined this group in the late 70’s and their job is to launder criminal stolen money. At first in the beginning, they laundered drug money for the Iran/Contra Affair. That changed later to Political Corruption and other criminal activities. So there you have one criminal Laundromat.

Another one I know about was listed in two of my posts today LinkA and LinkB

There are Blogs filled with information on all of this as well as books, so I’ll dispense with offering links. Recently though there’s been a few new web articles from Madcow and Madisen about a CIA link with International Drug Distribution. Check it out!

NEVER HAPPENED, which is why it is unbelievable. Hijackers USE GUNS. They don’t use boxcutters. IF there was a passenger revolt, which is, as he said, UNBELIEVABLE, they were shot down in the aisle. The whole story is a fabrication.

“Flight 93 was shot down after the highjackers had been overun”

    No.

That’s EIGHT TENTHS OF A MILE. Still quite a distance, but not eight miles.

  76. bellle says:

I believe that everything is going according to preplanning. GWB may seem stupid, but his handlers have everyhting under control. The Iraq war was planned way in advance, as is the coming Iran war. Syria may follow, and whoever else is on their hit list will be next. “It’s the oil, stupid.” And control or world domination. Those who dominate have the oil. Many well documented and serious writers confirm that this administration has planned these events for years. Will we end up in WWIII? Who knows, but unless the reins of power are wrested from these insane leaders none of us will be left to make a decision of what to call it.

  77. james risser says:

well, i used to call the afghani invasion/occupation as bush war ii, giving his father the nod for the previous iraqi invasion as bush war i. then, iraqi invasion/occupation would be bush war iii, syria and/or iran, in whichever order, bush war iv and v,

but, as with the super bowl, once you get up to super bowl xxxiv, people tend to get confused…

i don’t know what historians will call it, but, the comparisons to hitler will, in my opinion, be SCREAMing off the pages. this filthy dfcuk is truly evil…

    peace.

oh, and remember cfuk bush always.

  78. cats are flyfishn says:

So how come Cheney was in his bunker and Bush was having a photo op in Florida on 9/11? Kind makes me think that Bush&Co were expecting something to happen on that date. How convenient for Chimpie to be out of the White House on 9/11. He could read My Pet Goat at any school in DC. He didn’t need to travel to Florida. Bush&Co may not have planned 9/11. They may have known what was going to take place on 9/11 and decided to not get in the way of the hijackers. They saw this as an opportunity in the making.

  79. EL CHUPACABRA says:

I believe the most important thing that John Kennedy
did was to avoid WWIII during the Cuban missle
    crisis.

All of the military hawks were trying to get him to
invade Cuba. He refused and relied on diplomacy.
He remembered all too well getting duped into
the Bay of Pigs fiasco which was planned well before
    he took office.

Now we know that the Soviet commander in Cuba
had 7 nuclear weapons and had permission to use
them if we had tried to land troops.

I’m sure there would have been a full scale exchange
of atomic weapons by both sides.

    Bush would have invaded Cuba.

  80. Obie says:

Brazil has joined the nuclear club. I read the story on BBC news. Does this mean the US is going to invade anytime soon?

  81. WaltTheMan says:

    Obie, And Israel?

  82. Joe Caribe says:

    Right on Chupacabra!

And I might add, just as he was getting ready to initiate peace talks with the government of Cuba, he went to Dallas.

Remember that Lee Harvey Oswald tried to get a visa to visit Cuba from the Cuban embassy in Mexico City but could’t because he was recognized. In other words, a terrorist attack on the President of the US would have ended up with the invasion of Cuba.

    Notice anything familiar?

  83. Paul in LA says:

“#74 – Could have been both. Just sayin’” –Zookeeper

No, Bush confirms that it’s “unbelievable.” That means it’s bullshit.

“I believe that everything is going according to preplanning. ” –bellle

Incorrect. Though this is a pre-planned ‘adventure,’ the fact is that they thought that Bush’s Mission Accomplished dance on the A. Lincoln was going to convert most of Amerika to their cause. Didn’t happen. Even with all the prescripted love-licks from assholes like Matthews, it was a DUD — just like Bush himself.

So now it’s coercion, anyhow. The rollout of “WWIII” has been in the plan forever, and they just keep on going, in spite of the fact that the wheels are coming off the Clown Bus.

So, right about pre-planned, but wrong about ‘how it’s going.’ Actually, it’s going rather poorly for them, and YOU CAN HELP. Keep fighting for justice; start fighting for your voting rights.

  84. CRUCIFER + X says:

….How much she hath glorified herself,
    and lived deliciously,so much torment
and sorrow give her: for she saith in her
heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow,
    and shall see no sorrow.

  85. Jay Randal says:

When Dubya Dunce Decider attacks Iran, then WWIII most likely will begin for real! 9/11 event was NOT the first act of a third world war, but in Bush’s feeble mind he thinks it was!

  86. WaltTheMan says:

    EL CHUPACABRA,
I remember the Cuban missile crisis quite well. I was a college student at the time and wondered if my educational endeavors represented a futile effort. Building a nuclear weapon in the ten to twenty kiloton range is a trivial effort. Using osmosis in the process or plutonium ashes as the US did in WWII is the primitive solution. The next step to fusion weapons is what requires a little intellect and considerable sadism.

  87. Jaded Prole says:

Bush would like nothing better than to see a global war but his administration
is falling apart and the lies aren’t being bought. It’s time tos put an end to the danger they pose.

  88. Jaded Prole says:

The neocons would like nothing more than a global war but their administration is falling apart as are thier alliances and their domestic support. It’s time we put an end to the danger they pose.

  89. Stupid Republicans says:

I remember seeing Todd Beamers wife (Lisa) in front of every camera she could get in front of. I never say anyone soooo happy to know that her husband was dead.
She obviously has munchausen by proxy. (loves the attention one gets when tragedy strikes)

I can understand why Daddy pulled her aside and put himself in front of the cameras.

If he’s aligning himself with Bubble boy though, he’s as mental as Lisa.

  90. Alex says:

    AMERICA NEEDS TO WAKE UP!

That’s what we think we heard on the 11th of September 2001 (When
more than 3,000 Americans were killed -AD) and maybe it was, but I think it
should have been “Get Out of Bed!” In fact, I think the alarm clock
has been buzzing since 1979 and we have continued to hit the snooze button
and roll over for a few more minutes of peaceful sleep since then.

It was a cool fall day in November 1979 in a country going through
a religious and political upheaval when a group of Iranian students
attacked and seized the American Embassy in Tehran. This seizure was
an outright attack on American soil; it was an attack that held the
world’s most powerful country hostage and paralyzed a Presidency. The attack
on this sovereign U. S. embassy set the stage for events to follow for
    the next 25 years.

America was still reeling from the aftermath of the Vietnam
experience and had a serious threat from the Soviet Union when then, President
Carter, had to do something. He chose to conduct a clandestine raid in
the desert. The ill-fated mission ended in ruin, but stood as a symbol
of America’s inability to deal with terrorism. America’s military had been decimated
and down sized/right sized since the end of the Vietnam War.
A poorly trained, poorly equipped and poorlyorganized military was called on to execute a complex mission that was doomed from the start. Shortly after the
Tehran experience, Americans began to be kidnapped and killed throughout
the Middle East. America could do little to protect her citizens living and working
abroad. The attacks against US soil continued!

In April of 1983 a large vehicle packed with high explosives was
driven into the US Embassy compound in Beirut When it explodes, it
kills 63 people. The alarm went off again and America hit the Snooze Button
    once more.

Then just six short months later in 1983 a large truck heavily
laden down with over 2500 pounds of TNT smashed through the main gate of the
US Marine Corps headquarters in Beirut and 241 US servicemen are
killed. America mourns her dead and hit the Snooze Button once more.

Two months later in December 1983, another truck loaded with
explosives is driven into the US Embassy in Kuwait, and America
    continues her slumber.

The following year, in September 1984, another van was driven into
the gate of the US Embassy in Beirut and America slept.

Soon the terrorism spreads to Europe. In April 1985 a bomb explodes
in a restaurant frequented by US soldiers in Madrid. Then in August 1985
a Volkswagen loaded with explosives is driven into the main gate of the
US Air Force Base at Rhein-Main, 22 are killed and the snooze alarm is
buzzing louder and louder as US interests are continually attacked.

Fifty-nine days later in 1985 a cruise ship, the Achille Lauro is
hijacked and we watched as an American in a wheelchair is singled out
of the passenger list and executed.

The terrorists then shift their tactics to bombing civilian
airliners when they bomb TWA Flight 840 in April of 1986 that killed 4 and the
most tragic bombing, Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland
    in1988, killing 259.

Clinton treated these terrorist acts as crimes; in fact we are
still trying to bring these people to trial. These are acts of war.
The wake up alarm is getting louder and louder.

The terrorists decide to bring the fight to America. In January
1993, two CIA agents are shot and killed as they enter CIA headquarters in
    Langley, Virginia.

The following month, February 1993, a group of terrorists are
arrested after a rented van packed with explosives is driven into the
underground parking garage of the World Trade Center in New York City. Six people
are killed and over 1000 are injured. Still this is a crime and not an
act of war? The Snooze alarm is depressed again.

Then in November 1995 a car bomb explodes at a US military complex
in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia killing seven service men and women.
A few months later in June of 1996, another truck bomb explodes
only 35 yards from the US military compound in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. It
destroys the Khobar Towers, a US Air Force barracks, killing 19 and
injuring over 500. The terrorists are getting braver and smarter as
they see that America does not respond decisively.

They move to coordinate their attacks in a simultaneous attack on
two US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. These attacks were planned with
precision. They kill 224. America responds with cruise missile attacks
    and goes back to sleep.

The USS Cole was docked in the port of Aden, Yemen for refueling on
12 October 2000, when a small craft pulled along side the ship and
exploded killing 17 US Navy Sailors. Attacking a US War Ship is an act of war,
but we sent the FBI to investigate the crime and went back to sleep.

And of course you know the events of 11 September 2001. Most
Americans think this was the first attack against US soil or in America. How
wrong they are. America has been under a constant attack since 1979 and we
chose to hit the snooze alarm and roll over and go back to sleep!!!

In the news lately we have seen lots of finger pointing from every
high official in government over what they knew and what they didn’t
know. But if you’ve read the papers and paid a little attention I
think you can see exactly what they knew. You don’t have to be in the FBI or
CIA or on the National Security Council to see the pattern that has
    been developing since 1979.

I think we have been in a war for the past 25 years and it will
continue until we as a people decide enough is enough! America needs
to “Get out of Bed” and act decisively now. America has been changed
forever. We have to be ready to pay the price and make the sacrifice
to ensure our way of life continues. We cannot afford to keep hitting the
snooze button again and again and roll over and go back to sleep.

After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Admiral Yamamoto said “… it
seems all we have done is awakened a sleeping giant.” This is the message we
need to disseminate to terrorists around the world.
This is not a political thing to be hashed over in an election year
this is an AMERICAN thing. This is about our Freedom and the Freedom
of our children in years to come.
