What is going on with CNN?
They think that the only way to get more people watching them is to be more like FOX news.
I was so mad at Paula when I saw that interview.
Ray McGovern a great American!

I was wondering if anyone out there would have any idea where, or the best place to start would be, that I could find out information I could use to compile a list of the specific military jobs that the private companies are filling in Iraq. Like- sniper, bombadier, grenadist, castle stormingeneer, etc.? We need to compile it for our national release movie on private contractors on Iraq being evil. The movie will put it more eloquently and two-housier than that. barely.

Heather - you are SO right - no pun intended! No one likes to go to war - like the country song says, "I don't WANT to die for you...but if dying's aked of me...". Brave military personnel realize that evil and threats to national security EXIST. We owe them a huge debt of gratitude!

Peace is one by war. Peace have NEVER been won by anything else. War sucks that's a given but when you have lunatics running countries it becomes a neccessary evil. Funny how the "cowboy warhawk president who stood his ground on Iran" WON. The president of Iran is running like a scared schoolboy. First letter in 27 years. Sounds like somebody is folding. Wonder if the thought of being destroyed had anything to do with that. If you crazies had your way we would have tried to understand and love that lunatic dictator and would have gotten nowhere. Luckily we have a president with balls who stood up to him and now hes caving. He is so scared hes actually writing letters begging us to be his friend. Sounds like the hammer is a much better tool than kissing but like Carter and Clinton did. Hooray for presidents with balls.

<i>England and France already writing regional laws to specifically coincide with Muslim law . . . it’s not looking pretty.
Comment by Brent Ayotte — May 6, 2006 @ 5:48 pm </i>

France recently passed a law banning the use of the <i>hijab</i> in public schools. French laws have been fiercely laic for the longest time now. Your statement that French law is being made to coincide with the sharia makes no sense.

<i>So, perhaps all the ones who fear a “Christian takeover” in America (which realistically can never happen) will make their way to Europe to participate in a Muslim takeover of the countries that “laugh at the US”. . . . .</i>

I am at odds to understand your rant. "A Christian takeover can never happen"? In a country were close to 80% professed to be Christian, why would Americans need to worry about a "takeover" by Christians? Following your logic -haven't Christians already "taken over"?

Dearest RS,.

Europe is hopelessly coming undone, partially due to the very things that you listed. It is impossible, yes, <strong>impossible</strong> for those countries to undo the path they are on: negative birth rate means more immigrants to support the national health care, mandated vacations, etc. Those immigrants are <strong>mostly</strong> - not just "majority" Muslim and are already beginning to have an effect that will snowball in just the next 2 years. I know you don't want to deal in <strong>facts</strong>that are unpleasant to you, RS, but there they are. Cold. Hard. Facts. And at this point, because of the European moral structure (cowardice in the face of terrorism; "anything morally goes life-styles") it is impossible to prevent.

Cold, Hard. Facts

As to the Asians and Europeans "calling in their notes" - I'm assuming you meancallin in "ALL" notes at the same time - I'm sorry . . . . I'm too busy laughing. While "anything is possible", there is not an economist on the planet that seriously believes that will happen. Without the long explanation (I know you are limited on how many words to read at one time), suffice it to say that the simple answer is that it is no in the short or long-tem interests of Asian or European nations to "call in their notes".

It was the famous Clinton Treas sec Rob Rubin who warned , in the 80's, that we were just a slip away from the japanese "owning" or financially destroying America. Yea, that happened. At least Rubin learned from his mistaken words.

Self-interest, RS, like it or not, is the driving force in capitalism. And that includes those buying America's debt.

So, let's see . . . . we've given you both a short social antho lesson, and a short econ lesson, both for free, correcting your emotionally hopeful, but sadly fact-lacking analysis..

Think of me as Philip Seymour Hoffman in MI3:

"What else ya got? . . . . ."

I watched 'Goodnight and Good Luck' last night and it could have been referring to what is happening in today's media. Mr. Murrow's warning back then definitely applies to today's world of non-news, but takes dictation from the administration and it's lackeys and then produces it to us as 'news'. How stupid do they think we are? Then to treat citizens, and one of McGovern's obvious class, like so much rabble is very, very scary. We are in the middle of a very horrifying time in the history of our country.

<blockquote>Ah, Europe, as the pissy, jealous little cousin to the States and it’s grown-ups . . . as irrelevant as ever. . . .

I’m sorry, what were you saying that mattered to the world. . . . ?

Let’s see, can’t bring your unemployment below twice America’s;
You obviously can’t wait to embrace Islam - it’s immigrant numbers will overwhelm your populations in Italy, Germany and Spain in less than 7 years from now, leaving you with the beginnings of Isalmic (should I say “religious”) governments. The Euro is a such a “success” . . . </blockquote>

Yes, Europe is such a hellhole -- they work shorter hours, have longer vacations, national health care, and the euro is gaining against the dollar. And, except the UK, they don't go to war for superfluous reasons. By the way, to all you Euro-bashers, you might want to check your tongue; along with Red China, they have been loaning Bush billions to keep his leaky boat afloat. If the Asian communists and the Europeans decided to call in their notes, no more war in Iraq, or anywhere else. For that matter, our Bush-weakened economy would collapse.

<blockquote>"Doing a bit of research on the Left’s latest patriot, I realized why lefty’s love Ray McGovern SO MUCH!! As an anti-American thread runs through much of the diatribe of the left, I was not surprised to find Mr. McGovern on the European anti-war speaking circuit. (The latest “patriot” gives new meaning to the words “is” and “near”.)"</blockquote>

Ray McGovern, the America-hater who spent 27 years as a CIA analyst. What a traitor! Maybe you should do some research includes facts, MA, although I realize that's not your style.

Most humane and decent people are anti-war... So your point is? You're just a psychopath that is pro- war and pro-murder. Very hypocritical to take a condescending tone when you delight in bathing in the blood of slaughtered innocents. But we really don't expect you to use reason or logic in any of your arguments, after all, you're not really a lawyer, you just play one on Think Progress.

mite phrodite,

What?! . . . someone else making sense on a "progressive blog"?

WOW!! . . . . I thought it was too much to hope for . . . .

Right you are . . . Europe'e negative birth rate, England and France already writing regional laws to specifically coincide with Muslim law . . . it's not looking pretty.

So, perhaps all the ones who fear a "Christian takeover" in America (which realistically can never happen) will make their way to Europe to participate in a Muslim takeover of the countries that "laugh at the US". . . . .

***** Brent, remember the phrase, "Those who do not remember history are doomed to repeat it" - Most of the spineless Europeans forget that much of Europe was overrun by Muslims for 700 years.
Ah, LDS,

Ah, Europe, as the pissy, jealous little cousin to the States and it's grown-ups . . . as irrelevant as ever. . . .

I'm sorry, what were you saying that mattered to the world. . . . ?

Let's see, can't bring your unemployment below twice America's;
You obviously can't wait to embrace Islam - it's immigrant numbers will overwhelm your populations in Italy, Germany and Spain in less than 7 years from now, leaving you with the beginnings of Isalmic (should I say "religious") governments. The Euro is a such a "success" . . .

Oh, what's that you were lecturing others on. . . . ?

As an European, You know what most of us are thinking? simple answer to you all...

"What a bunch of patheticly nagging fools you Americans are! Why come screaming bloody murder now? Did it take your National mass of collective mind-numbness this amount of time and proof before you had the silver plate "that far up" to enable you of "seeing the light"? Or is really so that you guys still haven't gotten the IQ enough to sight the fact that it is an incompetent clown and his hard-core Neo-Con followers who still are running your show?

Please do not think ill of us for laughing at this, your melow-dramatic comedy. It is simply so, that you and your chosen leader and his always smiling circus have gotten your arses so bluntly exposed to the view of the world that we out here can either cry of feeling with your fall, or rather yet, laugh our selves silly while you are violently storming ahead towards your Nations premature end of that "we trust our selves to be agreat Nation" stupidness. Because, with these moves that you have done these past six years you have justly proven one and only one simple truth. And that truth is, that in the eyes of the rest of the world...YOU. No. Longer.
I stopped watching Paula Zahn several years ago...well before the Nov 2004 elections. Her obvious Republican bias is grating and offensive, and often leads to defensive non-questions such as those she posed to Mr. McGovern.

But my main objection is that Paula Zahn all fluff, no substance. When she tries to talk about the economy, for instance, she's utterly clueless. She adds absolutely nothing to the conversation. Paula Zahn is CNN's pretty face. She's no reporter.

Which is why I watch C-Span (Wahington Journal)... no "hot chicks", no flashy graphics, no man-on-man (or girl-on-girl) cock fights, .... just regular folk, no matter how right or wrong, calling in, and the moderator saying "thanks for your comments" ...or the guest responding. I grew up on "news" being boring, but somewhat informative, and that's how I like it. How did "news" become a total entertainment channel? If I wanna know about Brittany or Tom & Kate or Michael Jackson, I can tune into the E-Channel.
And aside from Zahn, I get that other twit, Soledad O'brien giving me useless morning news or just being completely clueless to politics (which is when I switch to C-Span)... and there are male twits out there too (too many to list)

And what kind of message does this send to young girls? To be a journalist, you have to be a model with an IQ of 25? This another reason why I despise 24 hour news channels. I long for the days of old crusty unpretty anchormen (or women), reporters, jouranlists, etc... where it wasn't about looks, but about substance.
