President Bush’s approval rating in the latest New York Times/CBS News poll, another new low and “the third lowest approval rating of any president in 50 years.” The percentage who say going to war in Iraq was the correct decision “slipped to a new low of 39 percent, down from 47 percent in January.”
Can’t wait until Bush hits the twenties!
May 9th, 2006 at 7:14 pmIf W continues to sink at this rate, He will set an all-time approval rating low of 21 % by November. This guy is excellent at setting records!
May 9th, 2006 at 7:16 pmI guess the 2% he lost since last time were all the fishermen who were appauled by Bush “lying” about catching a big perch… lol.
Congress – 23%.
Ouch.
I’d say Americans are fed up with politicians. Period. I’d agree with them.
May 9th, 2006 at 7:17 pmYes Seixon, American’s are fed up with Congress.
The number 1 reason is because Congress is made up of mostly stupid republicans
The second reason is, the rest have not impeached Bush and Cheney.
May 9th, 2006 at 7:30 pmDemocrats are “more likely to come closer to sharing your moral values”? What happened to all of that “values voters” crap? I thought the ridiculous blurring between morality and law was the very reason democrats lost?
Seriously.. if the democrats don’t sweep in the midterm elections, what are we to make of it? Based on these graphs and polls, what POSSIBLE reason could there be for them losing? Inaccurate polls? Voter fraud? What could it be?
I ask only because democrats will probably lose again since they always lose whenever I want them to win, and I don’t know what I’ll believe when that happens. Looking for suggestions.
May 9th, 2006 at 7:37 pm39 percent think it was a good idea to go to Iraq? Total bottom feeders. These have to be the stupidest people in the world! I suppose they think Iraq was connected to 9-11. Amazing how gullable people can be.
May 9th, 2006 at 7:42 pm#5 Rod, based on history, the dems cannot lose. They will control the House, the Senate or both come 07.
Voter fraud is the only thing that can prevent history from repeating itself.
May 9th, 2006 at 7:52 pmI know it’s a little OT but I just posted a new piece about Bush’s new Director of CIA choice General Hayden (AKA General Turd Blossom).
Have a read if you get a minute.
May 9th, 2006 at 7:57 pmRather than basking in the joy of it, I am with those who are concerned about what a cornered animal would do.
May 9th, 2006 at 8:48 pmOk I’m back to basking in the joy of it now.
May 9th, 2006 at 8:49 pmOk, someone help me out. I was reading “radical” “news sites” from “both sides of the aisle” and they have shit in common. I read PrisonPlanet and WorldNetDaily and they both ran the same story about Geronimos skull being dug up by the Skull and Bones boys. Both these sites seem to be “conspiracy” oriented as well. Is this just me?
May 9th, 2006 at 9:03 pmre #6. “39 percent think it was a good idea to go to Iraq? Total bottom feeders. These have to be the stupidest people in the world!”
Remember that half the population is below median intelligence.
May 9th, 2006 at 9:29 pm#11 I read PrisonPlanet and WorldNetDaily and they both ran the same story about Geronimos skull being dug up by the Skull and Bones boys.
Old news. I have no idea why they just decided to bring it up again. Trying to push bad Bush news off the front page?
May 9th, 2006 at 9:41 pm#4: No, the American people disapprove of both Democrats and Republicans in Congress. Come on, you can step out of your partisan shell for a moment of truth. Don’t be shy.
I wonder… How would a graph of the approval rating of Congress look compared to Bush’s approval ratings… Hmmmm.
May 9th, 2006 at 10:02 pmHeh-heh. Just in case anyone thought that 31% from yesterday’s USA Today/Gallup was an anomaly…
Sorry, Bush-lovers. Your turd is about to get flushed.
May 9th, 2006 at 10:03 pmDown, down, down! Only two things can save him now:
1) Bring out bin Laden from his hiding place at the ranch in Crawford
2) Have another war with Iran.
He is crazy enough to do the latter.
May 9th, 2006 at 10:10 pmLet’s not be 100% confident yet. The Repugs have struck that bogus deal for tax cuts for the rich and they are starting their plans to get their base back to life. You can bet these scum will pull a Gay Marriage amendment or try something with judicial nominations really soon. They are so desperate they will try whatever it takes with Rove at the helm. If Fitz does his job and gets Rove out of the way, the Repugs will struggle to find any strategies to use.
May 9th, 2006 at 10:29 pm#14 Seixon, you know as well as anyone that nothing happens in Congress unless the Republicans want it to happen. And then there’s nothing the Democrats can do to stop it from happening. The Republicans have been locking the Dems out of committee hearings. They’ve held votes open for hours, rather than the usual fifteen minutes, while they go around strong-arming every Republican in the room to vote the same way. They’ve shut out and refused to deal with any lobbyists who aren’t Republicans or who don’t work exclusively with Republicans. They’ve threatened judges. They’ve got all three branches of government under their control and you can only hope that the majority of voters don’t realize that, yet, but I think it’s too late.
Hmmm, I wonder how a graph comparing approval ratings of Republicans and Democrats would look. I’ll give you some numbers and you can draw the graphs.
Fox News/Opinion Dynamics Poll. May 2-3, 2006
Approve Disapprove
GOP 35% 53%
Dems 36% 49%
LA Times/Bloomberg Poll. April 8-11, 2006
Favorable Unfavorable
GOP 37% 50%
Dems 41% 38%
See. They like Democrats better.
May 9th, 2006 at 10:29 pm#13 Jim
I was using the story about the Geronimo skull as an example of how a really far lef website and a really far right website have things in common. They share the idea of conspiracy theory. They are both whacky. They are so far in their respective directions, that they meet somewhere in the twilight zone.
May 9th, 2006 at 10:37 pm“One Bush did it by staying out of Baghdad, raising taxes and driving down the deficit.
The other Bush did it by going into Baghdad, cutting taxes and driving up the deficit.
But, perhaps inevitably, the father and son ended up in an Oedipal tango at the same spot: 31 percent.” Mo Do
You know where to go to read it.
May 10th, 2006 at 7:12 amRod:
Here is how the Democrats will lose, and they deserve it too:
1: They fail to act as a strong opposition party. At this point they are simply rolling over so much that if one could get a few turbines into their offices they would be a decent alternate power source.
2: They have turned on their few members who have actually stood up to the Republicans. They don’t have strong leadership and they don’t want strong leadership.
3: They are trying too hard to appeal to the conservative voters, while taking the liberal voters for granted. Hillary Clinton is a classic example of this with her “Video Games Turn Children Into Satanists” schtick.
4: They have failed abysmally in taking the offensive against the Republicans. They haven’t even tried to take the offensive against the Republicans.
5: Has anybody heard of them firing their strategists?
6: Several of them seem incapable of making decisions without those strategists, you know the same strategists whose *brilliant* strategy served them so well in 2004.
7: Will ye, nill ye, what remains of the 31% will vote. Not everyone else will (A pretty harsh indictment of America.)
8: The Republicans are out to make sure that Net Neutrality is a thing of the past. Say buh-bye to anyone running fact checks online.
9: The Republicans haven’t stopped their illegal spying and thus have access to all sorts of things to use as smear material. Remember consentual sex is more heinous to the American public then being a mass murdering canabal.
10: Can you say, October Surprise?
May 10th, 2006 at 8:03 amI think the Democrats should crush but they act so spineless! He’s the most unpopular president in 30 years and they still suck up to him! Everything said by Bruce besides the October surprise is dead on.
May 10th, 2006 at 8:56 amYou can bet these scum will pull a Gay Marriage amendment or try something with judicial nominations really soon. They are so desperate they will try whatever it takes with Rove at the helm.

John,
Realizing how dense and myopic “conservative” red state scum are…
…I think the gas crunch, higher food, insurance, and healthcare costs…
…along with the knowledge that New Orleans, Mississippi, and Florida could happen to them at any minute (FEMA & DHS are a joke)…
…and finally, that Iraq is a criminal Bushite regime con game…
…there’s a good chance that many of these red state Bushite inbreds could conceivably understand that they’ve fallen victim to the greatest fraud ever perpetrated…
…and that Bushiva, L’il Dick and the Republiscum conservative/neocon TRAITORS are a curse on America…
…if they do, then they’ll either stay home and NOT vote or (a long shot) vote Democrat…
Here is how the Democrats will lose, and they deserve it too
Comment by Bruce Gorton #21
Bruce,
I hope for all our sakes you’re wrong but…
…given the news that Rupert Murdoch is holding a fundraiser for Hillary really pissed me off…
…even with the knowledge that Democrats and Republiscum are both beholden to the elites, when it’s thrown in ones face it is hard to bear…
Still, I am cognizant of the fact that Bushiva, L’il Dick and the “conservative”/neoconservative system of governance must be destroyed…
…and its leaders and architects brought to justice to account for their NUMEROUS CRIMES…
May 10th, 2006 at 9:10 amLook at it this way: If Rupert is fundraising for Dems, it’s only because he thinks they’ll be in power soon.
Don’t give up. You know all their dirty tricks by now. Use that knowledge.
May 10th, 2006 at 10:47 am“A report released last summer found that more than $1 billion in funds paid to Vice President Cheney’s former firm Halliburton for work in Iraq were found by auditors to be “questioned,” “unreasonable in amount,” “inflated,” or “excessive,” while another $422 million were “unsupported” by Halliburton’s documentation.”
-American Progress Report-
If for no other reason than to HOPE to stop this TREASON by the criminal Bushite junta…
…we MUST have regime change in America…
…the Republiscum-led Congress is rife with corruption, cronyism, and outright TREASON…
…Bushiva, L’il Dick and ALL of the Republiscum (and if found to be dirty- Democrat) Senators and Congress persons who have violated the law MUST be held legally accountable…
…Bushiva and L’il dick especially for the fraud they’ve perpetrated in Iraq (for one)…
