We actually have the same arguments about the DA. Had the same argument when they were opposing the Nats and we have the same arguments now that they are opposing the ANC.

Basically it boils down to this, don’t weaken the opposition.

The opposition has been the opposition since 1949, basically the start of Apartheid. For more the 50 years, the DA in its various incarnations, has not won a single presidential election. They in essence neutralised any opposition to the Nats and the ANC because people didn’t want to weaken the opposition.

Weaken the opposition, don’t fall into the same trap South Africa did.

They won’t even go that far, they (the lapdog Democrats) will say it would make them look like they were being uncooperative for the sake of it, and after Bush is gone, the Repugs will continue to rape America because the Dems will continue to be the “Not-Republican” party and you will continue to vote for them in the hopes that they one day grow spines. South Africa had much the same in our official opposition party. It is pointless voting for a Democrat who continually goes along with the Republicans in congress, who will turn on his own party members whenever that party member tries to enforce congress’ role as a check and balance to the powers of the president and the senate. That democrat will NOT bring back the checks and balances which existed prior to GW.

If your Democrat representative is not a Republican Lite, if your representative is like Feingold, by all means vote for that Democrat, but if your representative rolls over every time somebody looks like calling him a traitor, if your representative is more interested in the conservative vote then your vote, if your representative voted against the resolution to censure Bush, vote the bastard out. Otherwise, it won’t be the independent voters who wasted their votes.

i think people just don’t realize just how impossible it is for dems to get any kind of message out – it’s not like timmy and tweety and joe et al, invite them on with any regularity to discuss the merits of a true democracy … remember? there is no “librul media”…

I hate to say it, but, I don’t think the Dems would really vote to impeach Bush. A small minority of them would, yes, but there are a lot of Republican-lites in Congress. You need to wake the Democrats up to the fact that you won’t just vote for the Dem candidate no matter how many times that candidate has stabbed his supporters in the back. You need to clean house, and who knows? Maybe the independent you actually agree with and therefore voted for gets in.
