President Bush’s nominee

By Nico Pitney on May 11th, 2006 at 12:14 pm

President Bush’s nominee

to be chief financial officer for the Homeland Security Department is David Norquist. His credentials: at his previous job at the Pentagon, Norquist allowed Halliburton “to conceal alleged overcharges in an investigation by a United Nations oversight board.” TPM Muckraker has more.

    any relation to you-know-who?

  2. Badmoodman says:

Geezus, don’t tell me this guy is related to Grover Norquist. CFO would be the perfect irony then for David Norquist.

  3. james risser says:

    recess appointment…next…

  4. Now! says:

Is he related to Grover? If he is, hang him.

  5. james risser says:

    wow…

do you realize that the war-criminal seems to have run out of cronies that have *not* been associated with abramoff!

this story is from january though…i guess the new part is the halliburton link; but, isn’t that an assumption with anyone in administration?

    on papa:

Abramoff had previously paid Reed’s consulting firms to whip up Christian opposition to Indian casinos and a proposed Alabama state lottery that would compete with the gambling business of Abramoff’s tribal clients, sometimes using Norquist’s foundation as a pass-through, a Senate investigation has found.

  6. Wayne A. Schneider says:

Yes, they are related. David is the younger brother of Grover Norquist.

  7. Zookeeper says:

#6 – He sounds perfect for the job.
I wonder what “Grover” did to piss off his parents? Stupid name.

  8. Wayne A. Schneider says:

#6 Nice family they have there. One brother thinks that nobody should pay taxes at all and another brother thinks the government should give what tax money we do give them to large, immoral corporations. Uh-oh. I said something bad about Halliburton. I guess that’s it for me. I’ll write to you all from Gitmo (if they let me). Nah, who am I kidding? I’m toast.

  9. Keith H. says:

And he does Dickie on the side.

  10. Miro says:

Does anyone remember that TV show, “Queen for a Day”? How about a daytime TV show called “War Profiteer for a Day”? Isn’t that quaint?

  11. Zookeeper says:

#8 – I’m sure you look good in orange. ;)

  12. Peteykins says:

I’m sure his relation to Grover is truly, madly, deeply unrelated to his qualifications.

  13. Hamster Brain says:

    Lemme see
70% of America is tired of the crap.
The 30% are fat pathetic weak CEOS and business whores.
I am not scared, seems to me its them that are Scared.

I have nothing to lose, they do.

  14. Jay Randal says:

Bush wants flunkies to cook the accounting books for all the agencies now to hide all the stealing that has taken place!

  15. Michael Bains says:

That’s it, for sure. Bush just hires people who know how to wring the last $billion out of his failures.

At least Spektre is showing traces of a spine. Traces.

    It’s a start…
