Didn't the scientists have the same consensus about global COOLING in the 70s? We were all supposed to freeze, no? I also recall the terror of impending acid rain, which was also confirmed by scientific consensus. What happened to that? Can't science be polluted by politics? It seems that academia is corrupted by groupthink and the problem of the overextended open palm for grant money. Some notable scientists in relevant fields claim that global warming is a hoax. Real or not, global warming panic is going to be exploited - for more gov't regulation, taxation, and intrusion. Real or not, DON'T PANIC!

[...] What to call those who deny that global warming is an urgent problem or who seek to delay strong action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, people like Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK) or President George W. Bush or Michael Crichton, author of State of Fear, a deeply flawed novel that attacks climate science and climate scientists? This is a question that everyone who writes on climate change must grapple with. [...]

[...] Despite Bush’s repeated efforts to muddy the picture, there is no real scientific debate over whether global warming is manmade or naturally-caused. Most recently, the National Academy of Sciences has unequivocally stated that natural causes cannot explain the unprecedented warmth over the last 400 years. Rather, “human activities are responsible for much of the recent warming,” the report states. The failure to acknowledge this scientific fact prevents Bush from taking the necessary actions to regulate carbon dioxide emissions, which he once pledged to do. [...]

#138 I'll clue both you and Katie in....supply and demand means in order to keep the price high you limit supply (i.e. Cecil Rhodes and the diamond cartel=same difference). The suppliers control the price, don't let them lie to you.

Someone apparently didn't clue Bush in when in 2000 he advised Gore to suggest to Clinton that he demand that OPEC open the spigots to lower oil prices.

After he was comfortably installed as president, he announced to the world that we should just let the market decide prices.

Someone apparently didn't clue Bush in when in 2006 he decided to suspend the resupplying of the SPR, yet in the campaign of 2004 he refused to do so because it would have a negligible effect on prices. Oh, and John Kerry suggested it, and we just can't have Bush following the advice of the enemy, now can we?

Oh, and as far as this "supply and demand" thing goes, there are also two other factors that are in play, and that is greed and choice. Consider this: when the Chrysler PT Cruiser was first introduced in the spring/summer of 2000, many dealers were charging as much as $10,000 over sticker price because of "supply and demand." However, many weren't charging a penny over MSRP; they chose not to do so because, I would imagine, they weren't greedy.

Max Headrum has been upgraded to lead the Fox News Network. In 30 years there will be no need to fear the shortage of 30-35 year olds since his prototype is succeeding well in place of the oft-error prone human that has difficulty handling the overload of electromagnetic currents that are trapped inside the greenhouse gas umbrella. Let the planet burn, the economy will move along jus fine.

Is this the same interview where Couric asked...

"would it help the long term reputation and value of your company and shareholders if you could feel the pain that consumers were feeling and decrease the wholesale value of gasoline? Is that something you would ever consider?"

Someone needs to give Katie a little lesson in supply and demand.

The CEO of Shell oil was on Today this morning. In response to Couric's question about the President's statement on the science of Global Warming, the CEO flatly stated his company no longer questions the science of global warming and the time has come to start addressing it.

The title of Gore's documentary says it all. Global warming is indeed an inconvenient truth to President Bush. God forbid that he should listen to anyone outside his tight little White House group, not to mention (oh the horrors!) a Democrat. Bush reminds me of Fonzie on <em>Happy Days.</em> Remember the trouble he had admitting that he was wrong? He struggled to even get the word out of his mouth.

I did find this in a current story on CNN.com:

<em>"The president noted in 2001 the increase in temperatures over the past 100 years and that the increase in greenhouse gases was due to certain extent to human activity," said White House deputy press secretary Dana Perino.</em>

How convenient. He <em>noted</em> it. What probably constitues perhaps a 60 second verbal "notation" of greenhouse gasses was all that he is willing to commit to the discussion. Now he wants to set it aside.

I wish Gore would speak out more against the Bush Regime, since all the Democrat Senators in DC are scared frightened bunnies! America craves someone like Gore to openly oppose Dubya! Former President Clinton and his wife Hillary have sold out to the Bush cabal now!

(Do you think the GREEN nose is due to Gores’ malignant envy or a publicity stunt extolling his enviroMENTALism?

Comment by mighty hypocrite

Although I realize it's a waste of time to respond to Mighty Hypocrite now that he has admitted twice (on the Murtha thread) to being a paid GluttonsOfPlenty troll, I would like to remind others that Al Gore wrote a book, "Earth in the Balance," on environmental matters while a Senator to Vice-President. I'm sure Mighty will respond that it was just a self-promoting book along the lines of true ego-tripping as in Bill Frist's "Good People Beget Good People." But I myself was involved, when he was VP, in setting up a conference call between him and some leading Asian scholars working in environmental science and sustainable energy. Can anyone imagine Bush wanting to hear the opinions of scientists outside of the oil industry--let alone those in other countries-- on global warming?
Mighty shouldn't project his own "malignant envy" on others.
