Drudge Falsely Smears Gore

Matt Drudge is looking for any excuse to smear Al Gore and his new movie, An Inconvenient Truth. He’s been running this story, unsourced, all day:

ThinkProgress contacted Gore’s representatives, who unequivocally confirmed that Al Gore and his associates walked from the Majestic Hotel to the screening at Cannes. Further, Paramount has committed to making the entire tour promoting the film carbon neutral.

UPDATE: At 3:38 PM EST on May 22, about an hour after this post, Drudge yanked the smear on Gore from his site. The report that was removed contained no links or attribution to any source.

UPDATE II: Reuters reports that Gore was seen using a car at another time during the Cannes film festival. This story was first linked by Drudge on May 25. It does not substantiate Drudge’s original, May 22, report. In fact, it specifically says Gore and his associates walked to the screening.

UPDATE III: Click HERE for ThinkProgress’ complete coverage of Al Gore and An Inconvenient Truth.

Drudge is having a flashback to 2000, when publishing made-up shit about Gore was required for journalists and journalist wanna-bes, and easier to get away with.

Maybe Drudge uses his website to record dreams he has. It's like his little personal blog!

  8. unbelievable Says:

Considering Al Gore is in great shape for a 58 year old man, I believe he walked. Had it been a story about chubby Cheney taking the car, I might have expected as much.

Really, the right is TERRIFIED of Gore. They know he won in 200. They kow he could win again in 2008. They just hope that if they can take him out now, we'll win up with Hillary.

  9. Erroll Says:

The only way for someone like Gore to stop this is to sue Drudge, perhaps for malicious intent, and take him to court. If not, he most likely will continue to defame Democrats and progressives with impunity.

  10. NeoConvict Says:

Of course, it's all about the smears and the distortions and of course the payola. President Gore is far more of a patriot that any NeoCon ever will be. His only mistake was honorably conceding 6 years ago. He thought he was doing the right thing for the country. But the NeoCons's true rapacious nature somehow took him by surprise even after 8 years in office. That shows he has a good heart but is sadly a bit oblivious to the darker elements chomping at the bit to seize power.

Had enough yet? The ONLY way to end the NeoCon menace is to expose the rigged voting system. It's the only chance we have of taking America back from the NeoCons. And right now, the ONLY Democrat willing to take it to the Republicans on this issue: Clint Curtis.

Curtis is the programmer who was hired by corrupt Florida Congressman Tom Feeney to rig the vote. Disgusted by what he saw, Curtis became a whistleblower. Now he’s challenging Feeney to his congressional seat in Florida's 24th district!

His candor and firsthand experience on the election fraud issue makes him The One Crucial Democratic Candidate in '06. With Curtis in the race and taking it to Feeney, we will finally get this issue into the national press!

Please contribute to Clint Curtis for Congress, and let’s restore truth, justice and the American way!

Post 8 > Yes the Republicans hope we will all back Hillary Clinton in 2008 for president > she has agreed to be a shill like Kerry was in 2004 and lose to any GOP clown nominated for Prez!
Hillary is actually a Republican and I said so today in think fast thread! She and her hubby have sold out to the Bush cabal and they are not able to hide that fact any longer! I helped Bill for 8 years basically, but he would like me to shut up since I know he is a fraud now!

  17. DieNowForPeace Says:

    For crissakes.

My local weatherman can't predict tomorrow's weather accurately, let alone the next 100 years!!! Although I do believe that mankind has affected the environment, we have no idea with any certainty what the final outcome will be. Yes, glaciers are shrinking. Yes, ocean temperatures have increased. Yes, the air is hazier worldwide. Vast forests have dissapeared. Yet, some parts of the word have experienced record snowfall and/or floods.

It cannot be denied that the industrial revolution has basically been competing with naturally evolved life on earth for it's resources. Think about how much air runs through you automobile and how much poison it generates per day. Per year. Machines gobble up resources and spew out waste. It is the nature of industrialized society. The ecosystem will suffer, and so will everything that relies on it (us in particular). This isn't a battle for Earth's survival. It is for our own. Life forms have come and gone, but the little blue marble rolls on.

Personally, there's nothing we can do to affect it at this point. Unfortunately people are posturing to PROFIT anyway they can. It's the 'merican thang to do. So, get creative, and get rich!?

I'm almost convinced that Hillary will get the Democratic nod, and that Gore will have to run as an independent. Fortunately, unlike most politicians, he's been working and making friends since 2000. I think he could get Independent funding - Google, his movie profits, Soros, etc...

I've never really liked Hillary. As much as I would love to see a woman president, she's not the one.

You take the bait and miss the point, oh my brothers! Even if Al took a dozen coal burning helicopters across the street and back, it does not in any way besmirch the evidence for global warming.

The know-nothing tightie-righties evade the real issues through these personal attacks all the time. And we keep falling for it. (Well, you do.) The attack is not the point of their behavior. Avoiding the issue on the table is the point.

Our task is to keep the focus on what matters. It's clear enough and important enough that we can safely ignore most of these distracting personal attacks.

  28. Jay Randal Says:

Post 22 > I am willing to support Al Gore for president in 2008, because I actually believe he won Florida in 2000 and was cheated out of the presidency! In hindsight it's obvious that Joe Lieberman got paid "30 pieces of silver" to screw over Gore, and Bill Clinton met with Bush Senior before the Supreme Court appointed his son Dubya Dunce as Prez! I actually wrote a FAX to Bill a day after the 2000 election to send the FBI to Florida to assure a true count of the ballots, but Bill had already cut a deal with the Bush family! Sad but the truth!!!

That's what these hate-mongers - the extreme nuts of the right - do. They make hyperbolic statements so they get attention. Either they are payed out right to do this by the nuts of the right, or somehow get compensation, and personal gratification. Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Coulter are experts at it. It is really shameful, and an embarrassment for our country.

I always hope the heart of America will see it for what it is and rise above it this garbage. Trouble is, most of the media outlets are controlled by wing-nuts, so they propagate this crap. Ho hum :-(

"Jay Randall" = Republican shill? Is it only a matter of time before he starts telling people how they had Vince Foster and Ron Brown killed? Or would that blow his fake"Clinton supporter" story?

Hillary and Bill are the only democrats in the past two decades to face down the full might of republican smear machine and win. They beat back every possible slander - murder, drug running, prostitution, open marriage, lesbianism. And they won; Bill repeatedly, and Hillary looks certain to cruise to re-election.

I don't know if she would make a great president. But she is the only candidate I am 100% certain would beat the right wing slime down. Every other democrat has withered in front of it.

The idea that they are now closet republicans is absurd on its face. Peddle that tripe somewhere else, shill.

The difference being "Al Gore's entourage..." instead of "Al Gore & his entourage..."

Drudge has no legal liability in that case. Regardless of what you feel about him.

In the "a little deception goes a long ways" department, here is a quote from a letter to the editor published in a Helena (Montana) newspaper on May 24:

"Former Vice President Gore wants Americans to become worried about global warming. OK. Where is his concern? In a recent Internet news story about his global warming movie in Cannes, France, Gore and his entourage used five vehicles to travel a measly 500 yards to get to the film festival.

Imagine how much pollution those five vehicles emitted while saving Gore and his entourage from having to walk a whole 500 yards. Yep, Gore sure is concerned about global warming."

It only took two days for Drudge's smear to go from outright lie to political reality, at least in eyes of those ignorant to believe a single word that comes out of Drudge's mouth. Granted, we are talking about the right wing's faithful backwater base here, but the mere fact that such blatant lies are repeated as if it were an established fact speaks volumes to Drudge's ability to help the Republican's spin machine perpetuate the never ending stream of lies coming out of the White House.

Rueters seems to be defending Gore. They even have a comment from "the representative". What kind of source is that? Either way, their defense of the Drudge statement just lends credibility to the original report.

A representative affiliated with "An Inconvenient Truth", a film about global warming involving former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, has stressed that the movie and Gore's tour to promote it are "carbon neutral".

Last week, Gore and his team were seen driving the 500 metres or so from a hotel to the Cannes festival headquarters in several cars. The representative said that arriving at events like photocalls and news conferences in cars was normal practice in Cannes. And Gore walked the shorter distance from another hotel to the festival for the movie's screening.

So busy whining and defending your hypocrite that you jump down the throat instantly of anyone who opposes rather than letting them have the opportunity to defend themselves. And it turns out that YOU ALL were wrong, and Mr. Gore DID in fact drive.
    Typical communist liberals.

  87. Chuckie Says:

Hey, Drudge wouldn't be around, you know, if Al Gore didn't invent the Internet.

  88. John Says:

It is very simple. Liberals don't want to talk about how liberals fly around the world in provate jets (well, just the rich ones in Hollywood and politics) and how that is a total waste of precious resources. Lets make a deal. Lets tax all private jets that fly less than full. $100,000 per empty seat as a start. Who gets hurt, the poor? No way, they don't even fly. So this would be the most progressive tax possible. While we're at it, lest tax jet fuel when used in any private application at 100%. There again, an envioronmentally friendly tax that is progressive. And while we're at it, who needs to make $20,000,000 a year? No one. So lets tax all entertainment salaries after a "fair wage" of $5,000,000, at a 95% rate. What do you say?

  93. Sanchi Says:

Does no one bother to mention the 70 second ad that shows how much pollution Gore caused by flying his jet all over the place? Those reports have been out since the Clinton days, and Gore is abusing a lot more resources than any common person can.

The majority of people don't have SUVs or Humvees, or any of that, and the gas crisis already caused any poor to not use them. Since the majority is poor, only the rich have the ability to do that. Gore isn't telling all of his rich buddies not to drive around.

And don't kid yourselves, most of those politicians and ex-politicans are rich, be it from legal or illegal money.

  94. Kevin Says:

Think Progress' needs to check its facts. The Drudge Report story was based on a May 22 Rueters report. That report even gets an acknowledgement from a Gore or Paramount representative that Gore's bloated entourage caravaned in 5 cars a short distance to a Cannes function. But that's apparenlty OK becuase such a practice is "common" at these types of elitist events according to the rep.

Gore needs to lay off the preaching and mix in a salad once in a while. He is starting to look and sound like the bloviated Michael Moore.

  95. Marc Says:

Maybe whoever wrote the article on the head of this page should actually read the reuters article:

    http://in.today.reuters.com/news/newsArticle.aspx?type=entertainmentNews&storyID=2006-05-22T232359Z_01_NOOTR_RTRJONC_0_India-250545-1.xml

He DID ride in the cars for 500 meters. So he walked at a different time. It seems like Drudge didn't make anything up. Perhaps your vision is clouded guys. What do you think?

  96. Mike Says:

Maybe if you leftys actually read the linked article you would see that it was a Reuters report not a Drudge Report. All he did was link the article cuz it was kinda funny and a good rib. Read it:http://in.today.reuters.com/news/newsArticle.aspx?type=entertainmentNews&storyID=2006-05-22T232359Z_01_NOOTR_RTRJONC_0_India-250545-1.xml
ACTUALLY READ IT....don't just assume and them emote all over the place. They took cars to Cannes Festival activities and for the premiere he walked...jeez so sensitive you leftys are. Ease up and get a life.

  97. Steve Says:

Can you jackasses read? Dridge linked to an Reuters article which said Gore's team drove 500 meters and his people acknowledged this fact by saying it was a normal practice at the festival to arrive in a car. It was no a Drudge dream, unlike the world in which you live!

  98. Shane Says:

What do you mean UNSOURCED STORY?

Drudge links to news stories on other sites (including the lefty media), and you can read it and weep right here on Reuters:

    http://in.today.reuters.com/news/newsArticle.aspx?type=entertainmentNews&storyID=2006-05-22T232359Z_01_NOOTR_RTRJONC_0_India-250545-1.xml

Don't blame Drudge because Al Gore is a hypocrite and "invented the internet."

  99. Jack Spratt Says:

Al Gore is a political opportunist. This bandwagon he is on highlights his hypocrisy. For an average American family, driving a 6 cylinder sedan, filled once a week-they'd have to drive 92 years just to catch up with what Gore burned on airforce 2 going to and from environmental events. That is an indisputable truth. What next? "Getting it on" for virginity, Burning crosses against racism, lying for the truth? Which will it be.

Gore is a hypocrite. Thinkprogress is a flack-site. So drop the koolaid and hang your heads in shame. Shmucks!

  100. Kevin Says:

    Haha

    "Drudge smears gore"
"UPDATE II" - Ummmm, nevermind Reuters confirmed it.

Maybe they need update an update III "thinkprogress.org smears Drudge"

  101. kent Says:

Where is the outrage on here towards Reuters??????? That hard right bunch over there made the first post of this story, They should be tarred and feathered for giving Drudge the chance to post this story. Of course Gore walked across the ocean to Cannes so he wouldn't use any jet fuel either.

  102. Olio Frunu Says:

Why don't you guys even want to know the truth?

How much CO2 does big Al create while flying all over the world?

    You can see it here.

    http://streams.cei.org/

  103. Fred Zorch Says:

Gore is a looser. Always has been and always will be.

  104. Kevin Says:

    Haha

Big headline - "Drudge smears Gore"
"UPDATE II" - Ummmm, nevermind Reuters confirmed Drudges story.

Maybe they need update an update III "thinkprogress.org smears Drudge"

  105. Nikolai Says:

This wonderful wonderful page needs a nice hammer and sickle! Gore Bore ought to reinvent the Internet and exclude Drudge! Is there anyone on this site over the age of 15?

  106. ballz2wallz Says:

this website has lost all credibility, and so have the morons that posted against drudge in here

  107. greg Says:

Drudge on one side and all the networks on the other (ABC,NBC,CBS) , so I think you liberal doughfaces should grow up.

  108. Piper Says:

Reuters reported the short carbon positive drive of Al Gorge as normal practice, Am I to beleve you think thay are in on this massive coverup?
So it's true Al Gore cares more about his image than the newest cause dejour (global warming). Come on people see it for what it is a bash at capitalism. Remember hippies campfires cause co2 also.

  109. Yea Right.... Says:

Well at least he didn't make up a bunch of bull sh*t on global warming like Gore..

  110. boB Says:

You people are unbelieveable. Drudge doesn't just print stories. He has LINKS! It was reported by Reuters and I read it there before Drudge. So if you have a problem, argue with them. He was seen by witnesses. Then, when he found out there was a controversy about it, he began walking everywhere. Don't you all realize that 90% of ALL politicians, Dem and GOP, are hypocrits?

  111. John Smith Says:

Yeah, like the guy that 'invented' the internet, the guy that had a lake drained so he could row a canoe across a 2" deep stream, a guy that delivers a global warming warning in NYC on the coldest day on record for NYC, etc, etc, etc, isn't above a lie about riding in a car.

    What a laugh!!!

  112. Bullock Says:

I love the shear arrogance of human beings in relation to global warming. We have been recording daily temperatures for just over 100 years, and we have the audacity to say that we KNOW why the earth is heating up at this point in time?? Over its MILLIONS of YEARS of history the earth has been much HOTTER and COLDER than right now without humans making a difference. Do I believe we should reduce our emissions...yes...but mainly so that we have better air to breathe and improve our environment. There are so many factors that have to do with weather and climate that frankly we just don't understand yet. Remember one of the first things you are taught in a college science class is that science can not PROVE anything. We merely have to accept as fact something that can not be disproven at this time, because we are constantly discovering new, previously unknown factors every day(this goes for all our knowledge not just global warming.)

  113. Michael Says:

Drudge was telling the truth. He walked to the screening from the festival but drove to the festival from the hotel.

  114. Pete Says:

Drudge posted a LINK to a Rueters article you dummies. He did not claim anything but merley reporting on a story written by others. I guess FACTS get in the way of a good argument, huh?

  115. Tom Hall Says:

Reuters, who believes a right wing service media establishment like them anyways.
We all know that the inventor of the INTERNET would never lie about global warming either.

  116. Joshua Says:

I'd like to point out that Drudge simplye beat Reuters to the punch with the story. Here's the text as it seems most who read this site have not read it.

"Last week, Gore and his team were seen driving the 500 metres or so from a hotel to the Cannes festival headquarters in several cars. The representative said that arriving at events like photocalls and news conferences in cars was normal practice in Cannes. And Gore walked the shorter distance from another hotel to the festival for the movie's screening."

Perhaps picking the "proper" fight might be more inorder to prove one's point. Civil arguements begin with the facts. Perhaps THINK PROGRESS, quoted here "UPDATE II: Reuters reports that Gore was seen using a car at another time during the Cannes film festival," would be better served and could more articulately address the issue if they actually lead with a factual head line. "A" car implies only one was used when the actual story by Reuters articultes they were seen in several vehicles.

Its semantics, but at the end of the day, if you are going to critize Drudge for running misleading headlines that now appear to be supported by Reuters, you should also be sure to not mislead your own readers with your your lead-in tags.

Beyond these arguements, if Gore flying all over the world to promote his movie, I'd like to see Wired run an article on HIS Carbon Footprint.

  117. Bill Says:

Every once in a while I stumble across something like this--a sort of partisan pity party rant. The interesting thing is that the rage, juvenile invective, inability to de-center and irrationality are common to both sides. The extreme left and right are two sides of the same coin, distinguishable only by the tag words each uses to stake their ideological position.

I could go to an equally crazy rightwing blog and get the exact same inability to think critically--just a different polarity. It's a fascinating human phenomenon--the ablity to completely close out another veiwpoint and demonize anyone not enfrahnchised in your heterodoxy.

The wonderful thing though is that the US two party, EC variant of democracy succeeds in filtering these extremes to the edge of the debate--the more kooky on the left or right you are, the less say you have in policy. It means that while you are voluably ugly, you're powerless.

    Yayyy democracy--it works!!

  118. cwize Says:

Drudge is merely pointing out the blatant hypocrisy of the eco-nazis of the Left. Do as I say, not as I do. Let's check and see if Gore flew commercial or charter to get to Canne... want to take bets?

  119. John Says:

You idiot libs, I read through the first ten comments and feel dumber for having done so. Drudge posted the links to several stories - one from the AP, your favorite lib "news" organization - backing his claim up. Oops, liberalism at its best, I truly can't wait until you libs finally become the second class citizens you are.

  120. Jim Says:

The Drudge site only picks up stories from other news sources. I doubt you'll see Gore moving out of his huge home in Tennessee to save the environment. He's just another phony, like most politicians, which includes Republicans.

  121. Paul Says:

Al Gore is a Moron so it does not surprise me to see him pushing a non-fact such as global warming. You clowns say neo-cons are scare mongers! At least terrorism is a proven fact you idiots. Oh ya 9-11 happened, global warming is'nt.

  122. old school conservative Says:

These comments are hilarious. No wonder democrats have been out of power so long. Keep up the good work.

  123. TheUglyAmerican Says:

gee libs, seems you got smacked in the face with an "Inconvenient Truth" yourself! - I suppose you goofs who went off half cocked have some apology emails to write!

you know, it is possible to agree with the dudes policies (although I dont) and NOT swallow every attempt at theatrics he throws at you

  124. pirate Says:

Actually, his source is right there on the site. Its a Reuters article. Seems a little silly to even be mentioning it up here.

  125. You're nonpartisan? Says:

Thinkprogress actually claims to be nonpartisan? You're about as nonpartisan as Matt Drudge and Michael Savage. Drudge and Savage should apply for tax-exemption immediately...

Not only is it remarkably obvious that you are a liberal organization based solely on your biographies, Tom Daschle, maybe the most partisan Senator of our generation, is a contributor.

The far left, which you undoubtedly are a part of, and the far right make me absolutely nauseous.

The fact that your orginization has qualified to be tax-exempt is an absolute joke. And, speaks volumes to the sorry state of our country during these times.

  126. N. O'Body Says:

The most recent update on this site is inaccurate (intentionally dishonest?)
TP states "Gore was seen using a car" while the Reuters report linked states "Last week, Gore and his team were seen driving the 500 metres or so from a hotel to the Cannes festival headquarters in several cars."
Hate Bush and Drudge all you like, but that does nothing to make Gore right.
Fanatics of any stripe are distasteful, but the degree to which the Bush-haters will lie and make stuff up is simply laughable.
When I first saw this story, I thought "So What?!"
Yet when I see the tizzy into which the ABBers have worked themselves, all I can do is laugh and shake my head.
When did "Democrat" come to mean "willingly deluded fool"?

  127. Dan Says:

All of you Angry Leftists need to stop complaining about the "Evil Neocons" whose only crime is to offer ideas on the process of government. The fact that you blindly side with the party that can only obstruct and undermine the government shows that there is more than one side that can be brainwashed. Constructive criticism and feasible ideas by a realistic Democrat would go a log further in challenging the Bush administration. By the way, since Bush got reelected, where is that draft that everybody said he'd reinstate? Where are the millions in poverty caused by Welfare reform? How is globabl warming causing frost in May? And why would Drudge link to this site?

  128. Bill Says:

    It's manbearpig stupid

  129. Mike Says:

The report about AlGore driving big, fat cars as he promotes his satirical enironmental movie is plausable. Just like Ariana Huffington flying cross country in her private jet conducting telephone interviews about how SUVs are a disgrace because of the low fuel mileage.

Once again, those who do not like the message attack the messenger. Drudge Report is more accurate than most politicians and public figures would like it to be.

  130. Steve Says:

Wouldn't it be fun to be a hippy piece of crap and criticize everyone and evereything that didn't perfectly match your ideology? Accountability??? No way. That's not for me, just for everyone I else. You could also be a defender of free speach and at the same time try to muffle the voices of your opponent. You lefties are what you hate...HYPOCRITES.

  131. Eric Says:

Did he walk across country to get there or did he fly in a jet plane? And Drudge mainly provides links to stories. Gore is a hypocrite and no incorrect news story will change that.

  132. Jack Spratt Says:

Bear in mind-in the 70s-we were worried about gobal cooling! The world is warming up, geological records say the earth has done this hundreds of times. It has also cooled on as many occassions. This was without the help of man.

The scientific community is still coming to grips with this. Gore's stance is alarmist, his practice hypocrytical.

Drudge simply provides links. Some level the right, others the left. thinkprogress is just another flack site, looking to push a political agenda for the purpose of gaining power over our lives. Any wonder we dislike you.

  133. Smack-down Says:

So now the small, hardly read, never-heard-of-before-Drudge-linked-to-you website known as thinkprogress.org has just had it's 15 minutes of fame. Time to issue a big THANK YOU to Drudge for your free publicity. Enjoy it while it lasts, for your hit count will be back down to the measly few hundred per month that it was before Drudge decided to honor you with a link.

Although I must say it was a very humorous diversion to read all the Sore-Loserman comments on this site!

  134. why bother? Says:

After reading several of these inane posts, there is no doubt why the Democratic Party is known as the Looney Left. Just read what you have written. Just listen to how it sounds when you say it outloud. There is no logic or rational thought to it.

  135. Kristian Says:

Over the past 100 million years (less than 1% of the earths history) the earth was 5-10 degrees celcius WARMER than than it is today. (I'm sure if you search, you can find a more exact number) Therefore, you could conclude that global warming is returning the earth to its natural balance, where it should be. Not only that, but it was warmer in 1,000 AD than it is today...before the past mini ice age. So why don't you use science to realize global warming is not the end of the world...just the end of the world as we know it. (Which is not a bad thing). You liberals could consider it progress if you choose.

  136. Unreal... Says:

Gore says that the entire world community of scientists are in consensus that humans are causing global warming. Why all the debate then? Because there is no consensus. Just because Gore says he invented the internet doesn't make it true...

  137. Joel Says:

This is hilarious. This entire page started out with a bunch of liberal's getting together and agreeing with each other, then drudge links to this page after he proves his story, and now all of you cowards flee in the face of facts and common sense. can't you see how truly pathetic you all look?

  138. RememberMaxCleland Says:

    Thanks for nothing Drudge.

And to you wannabe-conservatives - Go to your own websites to publish this trash. Your thinly veiled fascism isn't wanted here.

The fact is, YOUR failed guy (Bush) has brought us to this point, where 70% of Americans don't like him. Ah, I long for the days of sex scandals and NOT 2400 soldiers dead (not from hunting down Bin Laden, but from Cheney's War in Iraq).

For shame on all of you criminals!

  139. pirate Says:

I have just read everyone else's comments. Looks like I am not alone is wondering what thinkprogress was thinking. I guess now thinkprogress will apologize to Drudge???? I think not, but they can sure demand a Drudge apology to Gore, can't they? Those dems. Thank goodness Al Gore invented the internet.

  140. Mellisa Says:

I think you guys are full of hate. It was just a mistake, do any of you ever make one of those? Chill out!

  141. JDD Says:

Really, the right is TERRIFIED of Gore. They know he won in 200. They kow he could win again in 2008. They just hope that if they can take him out now, we’ll win up with Hillary.

    Insert TwilightZone theme song here

  142. Richard Says:

Its amazing how much crap can be stirred up just because someone drove to an event! Oh, wait, he walked! No wait, he drove. Who cares about a wanna be!

  143. Greg Says:

Of course Gore drove. He only wants conservation for the average citizen. He can live in a huge house that cost a small fortune to heat and cool, but we need to conserve. We he takes an international flight he does not have to be on a private plane, but he often is. Oh the hypocrisy of it all...

  144. ScummyD Says:

Perhaps AlGore did walk a few blocks to watch a few films at Cannes. For sake of argument let us accept that as the truth.

No matter. That is not the half of it.

AlGore still criss-crosses the globe burning thousands and thousands of gallons of fuel and spewing loads of the very pollutants he is whining about.

The incovenient truth is AlGore's rank hypocrisy.

  145. Drew Says:

I wonder how many homes Al Gore has? I wonder if he heats and cools those homes? I wonder if the homes are made of wood harvested from US forest? I wonder what all of the private jumbo jets that Al Gore uses to get from place to place are fueled with? I wonder if Al Gore watches television? I wonder if Al Gore thinks of any of this as he looks at his fat face in the mirror?

  146. merek Says:

"The only way for someone like Gore to stop this is to sue Drudge, perhaps for malicious intent"

If George Bush took that same initiative, he should sue every news agency besides Fox then...

    morons.....

  147. Matt Says:

Sorry guys the only thing wrong in the report was that it was the screening vs a news conference.. Same princple-great ideas for the pions not for us elite. " Last week, Gore and his team were seen driving the 500 metres or so from a hotel to the Cannes festival headquarters in several cars. The representative said that arriving at events like photocalls and news conferences in cars was normal practice in Cannes. And Gore walked the shorter distance from another hotel to the festival for the movie's screening."

  148. Brett Brown Says:

How come the Earth was going to go through another ice age when I was in school in the 1970s?
How can we measure the depths of the ocean when we can't even reach the bottom of the Atlantic?
How can glaciers that melt raise the level of the oceans? Does melting ice in your glass filled to the brim with water overflow the glass?
Why should the US sign any treaty that prevents us from a strong economy while developing third world nations don't have to do anything and are polluting the world worse than the US?
Can anybody tell me what the weather in Baltimore MD will be in 10 days? 5 days? Tomorrow? Then how do you know what the weather on this planet was 100 million years ago?
The Left-Wing hypocrits need to shut up. You have gotten your way on making a disgusting sex act mainstream, you want people who break the law to invade our country, and you have managed to remove Jesus Christ from our society in lieu of Wiccans and Buddhans. I don't care about your diversity, any man who would rather look at another man's hairy smell ass as a sexual desire is a sick freak, and the White European Male is what made this country great. Civil War is coming and the left will be the first to feel the grip of death.

  149. Brian Says:

If you think the Cannes Limo story was crap, you should have seen what was linked from the Drudgereport between 10am-11am CT this morning. I will share: It was a link to CEI.org and a video that they put together showing how much Gore has had to travel accross the country to show his original slide presentation. It was stupid. Don't get me wrong - I've not been a fan of Al's but surffice it to say that any idiot could conclude that maybe the reason that Gore had this movie made - which has the potential to reach a much wider audience in theaters or DVD's - was once again to do his part to cut back on all those trips!

Whether you buy Gore's version of "global warming" or not is really beside the point. He is right about the weather patterns changing to the extreme and it MAY HAVE been something we all caused in the name of "progress." And there may not be anything that we can do about it at this point - except pray for God's mercy on us all.

    Brian

  150. RememberMaxCleland Says:

    AND YOU CONSERVATIVES DON'T THINK . . . .

Look at the screen grab at the top of the Page.

At the time ThinkProgress posted this page, Drudge WAS unsourced.

He put the Reuters link on his site today. That screen grab above is from the 22nd!

So use some common sense. Whoops - forgot - Conservatives think common sense has a liberal bias.

    Thank God for Stephen Colbert

  151. john Says:

hey, wait theres video now. Don't you all look like smucks

  152. GORE VOTER Says:

For one thing, the influence of Leo Strauss can be regarded as the result of a pre-fascist atmosphere in America. It appears that the American state, with its unelected president, venal Supreme Court, silent Congress, gutted Bill of Rights and compliant media leads our attention to the seizure of the Iraqi Oil Ministry. Clearly, the apparent demise of "anti-Americanism" as a respectable means of stifling recognition of American imperialism brings about the final subjugation of the Middle East, beginning with the $90bn invasion of Iraq. Perhaps for the first time since the late 1940s, Americanism as an ideology represents the crushing of internal dissent in order to propagate the essential Western imperial interests.

  153. Rick Rogers Says:

    Wait Global Warming!

The world temp. has rose an unacceptable .6 degrees in the last 100 years. The temp in the U.S. has actully decreased. According to scientists. But every one will tell you that no thermometer is right. So who knows. Al Gore knows. Yea right.

    DRILL DRILL DRILL
MORE OIL MORE OIL MORE OIL.

  154. Fred Smith Says:

Get a clue. Gore is all in it for himself. I happen to think global warming is a product of the fear factory. That's only because I am an engineer and know when a technical person is blowing smoke up my arse.

However that is not the salient point here. The point to keep in mind is that if you libs want to be taken seriously.....GET A SERIOUS CANDIDATE.

    Classy Lib = Tony Blair

    Cheesy Lib = Al Gore.

And finally regarding Drudge...... you guys do not like him because he is effective. It has nothing to do with his fidelity to the truth. Its my experience the emotionalism and self centered nature of libs does not require much in the way of truth anyway.

  155. John Urbanik Says:

You libs are stupid. He posted his source on the site. Once again facts don't matter only your feelings. Gore is wrong about warming and if you care to see some facts just go to junkscience.com for all the proof you need.

  156. Sparky Says:

So Drudge reports "500 yards from hotel to screening" rather than "500 meters from hotel to Cannes festival headquarters" and this is considered a false smear? Gore has a HUGE carbon footprint, he should shut up and stay home.

  157. Gore Hater from Nashville Says:

I have lived in Nashville my whole life and watched Al Gore make up things about Republicans a long time. Something that is true that I have seen myself: Tipper drives a vintage Mustang that is very far from economical!!!!

  158. Ron Jacobs Says:

This website is a fine example of left wing trash. Typical liberal response. Attack, attack, attack. Damn the truth....full steam ahead!!!

No wonder you guys are losing.....just keep up what you're doing. We love it!!!

Run, Hillary Run!! If she wins your party's nomination, you can kiss your party good-bye.......

  159. DaveS Says:

Good grief, you guys are all completely nuts. Get some therapy for God's sake.

If any of you had actually bothered to, you know... read the damned link, you would see that it wasn't something that Drudge "pulled out of his a**" or a "Republican smear", or whatever other dillusional labels you wish to apply to it. It was a Reuters wire story. Even the headline Drudge used came directly from the Reuters wire story. That probably has something to do with the fact that the headline is preceded with the word "WIRE:" in captial letters on Drudge's page.

Alright, go on now bashing the evil Neocon Reuters cabal at its India bureau, those evil Bush shills.

  160. BUCK FUSH Says:

The lying libertarian right tries to smear Gore with "facts." Little do they know, but true leftists do not care about facts and reality, but SOCIAL JUSTICE. See here for their pathetic logical and reasoned debate:

    http://www.tcsdaily.com/article.aspx?id=052406F

    http://www.tcsdaily.com/article.aspx?id=052506C

  161. ThanksB2Drudge Says:

Thanks to Drudge for linking to this website. Based on my 2 minute perusal of the comments here I can safely say there is no need to return.

Please rename the site more appropriately. Something like dontthinkatall.org.

  162. Jeff Says:

Hey LibsYou know what is really going to suck for you? To see you wallow in your misery from 2008 to 2016 when GOP is still in charge. MwahaHAHAHAHA....(payback is hell...Clinton/Gore 1992 to 2000). Have a great day!

  163. johnDOE Says:

Global Warming is a myth blown out of proportion by the idiot liberal n i g g e r s in this country, f u c k every last one of you welfare hoarding entitlement craving wastes of space.

  164. jamescole97 Says:

I live in Chicago. 10 years ago the water in Lake Michigan was at very high levels. We were told by climate experts then that the Lake levels would continue to rise due to global warming. By this time Michigan Avenue was predicted to be under water. Many communities along the lake spent millions of dollars trying to ward off the "inevitable" erosion of the coastal bluffs. Now the lake levels are at near historic lows and you guessed it, this is attributed to global warming.
Anyone who has studied science knows how hard it is to draw reliable conclusioins about a system with a small number of controllable variables. The climate involves a large number of uncontrollabe variables. Perhaps some readers might be interested to see what the Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Atmospheric Science at MIT has to say about current global warming hysteria. http://www.opinionjournal.com/extra/?id=110008220

  165. justin Says:

Aren't livestock flatulence the number one cause of greenhouse gasses? And I could be wrong but I seem to remember reading in National Geographic a while back that one volcanic eruption's gases probably equals the contributions of all of mankind's history. Global Warming due to man is a moneymaking machine and extremely shortsighted as well as naive. Oh well believe what you want in a couple of years there will be something else to cry about.

  166. Mike Says:

You people are pitiful to behold. No wonder your candidates can't win elections anymore. DrudgeReport simply posts links to "legitimate" news sources. I don't understand why you all get so bent out of shape anyway. The only difference between Republicans and Democrats today is the spelling. Vote Libertarian. No, wait a minute, Libertarians are for legalization of drugs and open borders. Hell, I guess there isn't a party out there that truly represents American values anymore.

And as far as global warming goes, puh-lease there's more evidence to support evolution than global warming. And there's no evidence supporting evolution. It takes more faith to believe in the worldly religions of evolution and global warming than to simply believe in God. It's really a non-issue since most Americans do believe in God and Jesus Christ instead of some bill of goods being pushed by a bunch of self hating, anti-American, globalist pigs being led around like rats by the pied piper. Hopefully I didn't offend any rats by comparing them to today's Left.

  167. Mike Says:

To all the delusional hypocrits - read the story. Just because Drudge keeps pointing out 'inconvenient truths' doesn't make them lies. Bill C. said he didn't have sex with that woman, Drudge said he did. Who was correct? Drudge LINKED to an article that indicated a 500 metre car ride by "Mr Global Warming" aka GORON, and you call Drudge a liar. Anybody who will not think critically, even about the politicians he or she supports, should not be allowed to vote. We need people that will see the bad as well as the good about the politicians we are electing. Grow up and start THINKING like adults. Thinking is what is supposed to separate us from the rest of the animals.

  168. JDD Says:

"And to you wannabe-conservatives - Go to your own websites to publish this trash. Your thinly veiled fascism isn’t wanted here."

    Ahhh...celebrate diversity

"I long for the days of sex scandals "

Once again children...it was not a sex scandle...it was perjury...repeat after me P.E.R.J.U.R.Y

  169. RememberMaxCleland Says:

    Gore is an elitist?!

Bush and Cheney are the biggest elitists to ever hold office.

Why poor rural white men continue to support an administration that, while looking like you, is every bit as effete and pretentious and inbred as the British monarchy is beyond all reason.

How many of you went to Yale and have grandfathers who sold weapons to the Nazis?

Stop supporting Bush, his family's war, and his family's fortune.

Instead, work on making this country truly a meritocracy - where anyone, not just a Bush, can have access to wealth and real power.

  170. Just the Truth Says:

Reuters India 2006. All Rights Reserved.

  171. Bill Bartlett Says:

gore is a bloated, pathetic and above all hypocritical figure completely out of touch with reality. nobody is fooled by him and anybody that still defends this loser needs some new cool aid.

  172. Aynrandlives Says:

haHA... You mess with Drudge, you get the horns. Since you were complaining about him repeating a story on the wire about Gore killing the environment:

    http://in.today.reuters.com/news/newsArticle.aspx?type=entertainmentNews&storyID=2006-05-22T232359Z_01_NOOTR_RTRJONC_0_India-250545-1.xml

he decided to link you. Now you can hardly get into the site.

Still think Drudge is some chump? What does this server problem tell you about the number of users regularly getting on to this site? His secondary click traffic alone can cripple this place.

  173. Mike Says:

#143. Funny that in the face of the facts you go right back to spewing the same crap you libs have been spewing since bush first won office. How is posting the truth about The Drudge Report trash? Maybe you should question 'you own website' about their justification of publishing erronious information about Matt Drudge. And since when is it 'your own website'?

70% of Americans dislike Bush? Polls and statistics mean absolutely nothing. Polls are merely fashioned to show the outcome that the polling party wishes to show. The real poll will be during the next presidential election...the only poll that counts. Remember me when us 'wannabe-conservatives' are enjoying another house majority and another 'wannabe-conservative' president is elected.

  174. Republitarian Says:

175 comments and not one of your paranoid lefties mentions that THIS WAS AN REUTERS WIRE STORY. Blame Reuters, not Drudge.

Yeah right, AP, part of the vast right-wing conspiracy.

  175. Sam Says:

Who is the smearer??? If you follow the link which Drudge posted, it wasn't Drudge, rather Reuters that repoerted the driving 500 feet. Drudge just had a link to the story. So to me it seems you are smearing Drudge and protecting Rueters.

  176. jZe Says:

Its simple actualle Gore drove, but not on the day reported. On the day reported, he walked. Thats all there is...

  177. John Says:

If Al Gore did walk and everyone "says" they saw him, with all the photographers around where is the picture. A picture like that would say a 1000 words....

  178. Bradley Says:

Drudge is such a hack. I know for a fact that he makes up most of his "insider" quotes because I work at a company that he actually "quoted" once. Its actually not to hard to spot. Anytime he uses an exclamation mark in a quote, chances are he made it up. The only stories more fantastical than the political ones he makes up are when he tells people he is straight.

  179. roy Says:

I didn't realize that so many liberal "lemmings" could write such unbelievable drivel. Lets talk about the mega gallons of jet fuel Al has used to fly around the country, in his 707, spouting his idiotic attention getting junk science. Ulterior motive anybody? At the very least, some history of this planet's cyclic weather changes would be in order. Al seems to ignore this.

  180. Steve Says:

You people are all total idiots! Gore is nothing but an anti-American who will do anything to keep his face in the media. He doesn't give a rats ass about the environment and to think he does is pure ignorance. Why doesn't he be a good little loser and bury his face in obscurity. He and Kerry can exchange stories about losing the election. The American people spoke in 2000 and the result was..WE DON'T WANT TO HEAR FROM AL GORE ANYMORE! Same went for Kerry in 2004. God Bless America and GOD BLESS PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH.

  181. Al Says:

You liberals are full of crap. Look at all the hate filled venomous lies from MoveOn.org, LCV, etc.

Then drudge posts a story without sources for a couple of days and you libs start with the hate filled speech.

But a couple of days later, the sources come out, and you guys are still spitting your hatred.

While there are some intolerant conservatives (Coulter and O'Reilly), I find almost all liberals are intolerant of opposing opinions. Liberals tend to be pompous jerks who believe they are superior, and anyone who disagrees is either evil or stupid.

  182. Wacky Wallace Says:

Keep drinking the Kool Aid.....Al Gore is perfect....he does nothing wrong....all liberal politicians are perfect......no liberal politician is crooked......conservatives are ruining the country......they are evil and want to take over the world.

  183. Wacky Wallace Says:

Keep drinking the Kool Aid.....Al Gore is perfect....he does nothing wrong....all liberal politicians are perfect......no liberal politician is crooked......conservatives are ruining the country......they are evil and want to take over the world.

  184. Jeff Says:

Hey LibsYou know what is really going to suck for you? To see you wallow in your misery from 2008 to 2016 when the GOP is still in charge. MwahaHAHAHAHA....(payback is hell...1992 to 2000 Clinton/Gore).

  185. Jeff Says:

Hey LibsYou know what is really going to suck for you? To see you wallow in your misery from 2008 to 2016 when the GOP is still in charge. MwahaHAHAHAHA....(payback is hell...1992 to 2000 Clinton/Gore) it must really suck to be a liberal..Hey, maybe ya'll can get a radio show for libs...ummm call it AmericaThi..no, no...how about Air America...yeah that's a winner!!!

  186. Oscar Says:

Ever noticed that the usual "going to hell in a handbag" story about "Global Warming" usually comes out during the summer months, when it's hot? Sometimes, they go to a part of the world during the winter where the weather happens to be 40 degrees when the average temperature is 32, so that must be a sign of global warming. In other words, the media uses their scare tactics and promotes their agenda, which is leftist, for those who didn't know, to state that we're all going to cook in this gloom-and-doom world we live in. What is the ultimate goal of the left and media? Is it to get the U.S. to sign the Kyoto Agreement? Someone please advise. I'm here to learn from fellow bloggers and from my mistakes. God bless you and God bless America.

  187. Joe Says:

How could anybody support Al Gore.......a loser in his own state, county, precinct, and nations.

  188. Jeff Says:

If this is a carbon-neutral event, how are people getting overseas? Airplanes arent carbon neutral, only sailboats were last time I checked. Not to disagree, but I just dont see it.
Gore cant fly to all of these events and claim carbon neutral.

  189. Bill C Says:

You all need to go scheck out http://www.junkscience.com and check out the truth on global warming from scientists and not a hypocrit

  190. Joe Calles Says:

How do you miopic lovers of this truly mentally deranged man (Gore) think he gets around to show his presentation, "a thousand times" he says. Chartered private jet! Some "carbon footprint" he's leaving all of us. Not to mention the "Methane footprint"
from all the b.s. he spews!!
You kool-aid drinkers just can't handle the truth! Get off of my internet!
Just think, another republican congress, then another republican president, then we're comin' for you!
Seriously, I fear for my country that there are people gullible enough to buy what this sick man has to offer. He was almost president...YIKES!

  191. Pat Says:

I knew from the second I looked at this site, it consisted of a bunch of whining, crybaby libbys. Gag!

  192. Ptt Says:

How could anyone smear the creator of the internet. And why didn't Al carry TN in the 2000 election?

  193. Mark Smith Says:

Yes. Gore is an elitist. As is Kerry, Bush and Cheney. Don't let your ideology and apparent dislike of those that disagree with your views blind you to that fact. Neither the leadership on the right nor on the left is pushing for, in the final calculus, a position that is different. The Repbulicans want to create a nanny state in the guise of protecting you from terrorism. The Democrats want to create a nanny state in the guise of protecting the environment. In both cases it is the liberty of the citizenry that is lost.

Poor rural white men supported the Bush administration because they agreed with the positions of the same and could not relate to an East Coast Establishment Liberal such as Kerry. Has the DNC learned nothing from the past two election cycles? If you want to connect with the rural poor your party will need to run a candidate that is a southern populist. No more gun grabbing. No more hard San Francisco Liberal positions on the positons of the day.

BTW... how does going to school at Yale make one an elitist? And since when do we hold people responsible for the actions of other people (their grandfathers)?

If you wish to create a meritocracy then stop punishing people for attempting to become successful with the "progressive" income tax. The old money families like the Bushes and those who earn a grossly disproportionate wage for their "work" such as the celebritards have wealth - which is not taxed, allows them to become entrenched in the sociopolitical landscape and penalizes the rest of us.

  194. Jenn Says:

Damn, there are still idiots who think Gore won in 2000? Who'd have thunk it. Even Gore admits he lost. Get over it.

  195. Jerry B Says:

Hmmmmmmmm..... Who should I believe? Drudge/gore gore/Drudge I've be Gored before...... My VOTE is for Drudge......

  196. Gus Says:

    GORE IS A BORE!!!!

Whatdya say we really do "move on"?

Liberals lie, it's simply their nature.

Has anyone at all ever even heard of this silly a$$ site before today. Well, you've got Drudge to thank now don't you?!?!?!

Have a good 'un, you liberal freaks!!!!

  197. Jenn Says:

I leave you with my mission statement:

"Once again, we see that "tolerant" liberals are the LEAST tolerant people around. Their statement can be reduced to "Your beliefs are fine, as long as they don't include the belief that my beliefs are wrong. However, MY belief that YOU are wrong must not only be tolerated, but accepted and supported by all."

  198. RememberMaxCleland Says:

    #157, I hear you

To all you wingnuts - welcome to ThinkProgress. Thanks for the traffic.

Since all of you believe in the President and His Family's War so wholehertedly, it is my sincere wish you will demonstrate that support, as some of us have, and get off your duffs, and sign up for duty.

Fascism, for the record, is like Naziism. They are anti-diversity, and there's no room for them.

  199. Voiceof the right...majority Says:

You liberal/communist pukes dont have a clue,THE FIRST DAY HE RODE LIKE DRUDGE REPORTED ,THEN AL BORES HANDLERS DISCOVERED THEY SCREWED UP AFTER LOOKING AT DRUDGE THAT NIGHT SO THEY WALKED THE NEXT DAY SO THEY WOULD HAVE SOMETHING TO WHINE ABOUT AND CRY FOUL....YOU COMMIE PUKES GO TO RUSSIA IF YOU DONT LIKE IT HERE!!!

  200. Greg in Maryland Says:

    Hello Everyone,

I came to this “Progressive” site from a link on Drudge's site. I was reading some of the posts and immediately noticed the vulgar and dripping with hatred tone of most of your posts. If you folks represent the American Left today than I am proud to have you as political enemies.

I wish you well and hope you continue to personally prosper and your politics fail in an ever more Right leaning country. I thank my God I am not ruled by people who think like you.

  201. Clint Eastwood Says:

    Hey "unbelievable"
Tri spel checking yer posts befor sendin them

  202. Jim Says:

Yeah, Drudge lied about the cum stained blue dress too.

    LOL

  203. Steven Says:

You are right on track Al. The most intolerant people in this world are liberals. If you disagree with anything an elitist letfy says, then you are labeled an intolerant a-hole. And if you pose a differing opinion, then you are a Nazi.

If liberals were to study their own ideological history, they might understand that liberalism is a horrible thing. (Communist Russia anyone?)

  204. Mike Says:

#204 And what duty did you sign up for?

  205. Kip Says:

You goobers. Have any of you even looked at Drudge's page? He simply links to other stories. The driving link is to a story in rueters. And the walking link is to this story. So please check things out before you post.

  206. Steve Says:

A bunch of red-diaper-doper-babies (a.k.a. - Communist Hippies) whining as usual. Did mommy not smoke enough pot while pregnant? Go strap yourselves to a tree or something.

  207. Franz Says:

Drudge Report is links. He doesn't write these stories. The one about Gore's limo caravan was a wire story on Reuters India. Reading these comments, it looks like a lot of people here think Drudge writes what is on his site. He has a column, but 99% of the Drudge Report is just links to news sites.

  208. Blake Says:

Drudge corrects his mistakes. I wish Rather could say the same.

  209. Cogito Says:

Er... Shouldn't that read "Reuters Falsely Smears Gore"? They were the ones who wrote the story, not Drudge. And just out of curiosity, is it possible to "truthfully smear" somebody?

  210. Rick Rogers Says:

Remember in the late 70's early 80's GLOBAL COOLING WILL KILL US ALL.

GLOBING COOLING IS COMING WATCH OUT.

  211. Bill Says:

What are the major differences between a democrat and a republican?

-Republicans blame whoever's wrong, Democrats blame whoever's white
    -Income
    -2 letters

Other than that you are all a bunch of slings and arrows signifying nothing.

  212. NeoCon @ Portland Craigslist Says:

You libs are hilarious. You ignore the fact that Al Gore burns more fossil fuel than a normal person during 100 lifetimes, yet try to push his fraudulent movie.

  213. Joe Says:

Gore never uses an automobile, an airplane or any other device that releases CO2 into the air.

    (rolleyes)

Get a life you left wing nutjobs.

  214. Rick Rogers Says:

GLOBAL COOLING IS KILLING ME HELP.

  215. DeeperThinker Says:

    Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  216. Vern Says:

Thank you for leftist wacko sites like this because, like MySpace.com, it's real easy to spot the idiots.

The posts are all about hatred.

  217. Late at Night Says:

Your site is struggling to stay up and accessible, Drudge has swamped you with the Truth!

  218. RememberMaxCleland Says:

#199, I actually agree with some of the thing syou had to say (see, even in this charged atmosphere, some rational discourse can come about).

Those in power definitely want to stay in power - it's almost only natural.

So that's at least one thing we can agree upon.

  219. Ken Says:

But you must realize, Gore is using the amount of jet fuel a small nation would use so he will be able to reach a wider audience and "cut back" on these types of trips in the future (from Brian).

Now how's that for "thinly veiled fascisim?" LMAO, I love this site.

Now, I must get back to littering and otherwise polluting the environment, because as all of you know, all conservatives want the planet to eventually explode or just die.

  220. Neuman Says:

Yep, Drudge never gets anything right. Clinton never fooled around in the Oral Office and Gore never took money from Chinese nationals either!!

  221. LoriLou Says:

I wish YOU GUYS would get it right. It was Reuters who reported this. Drudge as usual, just picked up the story and linked to it. All your nonsense should be directed to Reuters.

  222. frigfrag Says:

the organized buffoonery of this site is utterly amazing. You can smell the old patchouli and underarm stank all the way through the net! Yay!

  223. Mat McConnell Says:

The only article on Drudge's website concerning this matter is by Reuters. It was liberal media organizations, such as Reuters, that adopted postmodern notions about the impossibility of truth and facts, not Drudge.

If you tree-huggers are so worried about excessive CO2 emissions, why aren't you out planting trees, which remove CO2 from the atmosphere? Running your mouths only creates more gases.

  224. Mike Says:

Doesn't anyone remember that Bill and Al were in the white house and did absolute nothing about this, even when they had a democratic congress.

    Stop screaming and think.

  225. Jeremy Says:

Drudge always reports the truth, just like Fox news. The turth hurts, doesn't it?

  226. Bill Says:

LOL....some of you are still beating that dead horse, "Gore won in 2000." I pity you poor lost souls who think Al Gore actually has a brain in that head of his. I guess I'd be miserable too if Al Gore was my hero.

  227. Tony Says:

Hey liberals, chickenhawk is better than chickenshit, wouldn't you agree?

  228. Joe Says:

    I couldn't agree more:

"I love the shear arrogance of human beings in relation to global warming. We have been recording daily temperatures for just over 100 years, and we have the audacity to say that we KNOW why the earth is heating up at this point in time?? Over its MILLIONS of YEARS of history the earth has been much HOTTER and COLDER than right now without humans making a difference. " Bullock

  229. Robert W Says:

I love Drudge, he's so accurate it's uncanny!
Yeah I guess Algore walked acros the ocean as well. Jet fuel isn't cheap you know.

  230. Mugruncher Says:

an inconvenient truth, or a convenient lie? gore is a crazy moron, "the glaciers are melting!" has he not ever heard of water displacement, when ice melts in a drink does the drink spill out of the glass? no wonder the hemorrhoid didnt win the presidency!

  231. Leah Says:

    Comment by Joe Calles
Seriously, I fear for my country that there are people gullible enough to buy what this sick man has to offer. He was almost president…YIKES!

With any luck, he will be.
I think that Al Gore is a man with much to offer, and I would prefer him to Hillary as President.

  232. WrightOnTheRight Says:

I used to be a liberal, but 2 things happened:

    1) I washed

    2) I matured (not much, but it doesn't take much to mature beyond 'liberal')

  233. dana Says:

You actually still believe that Gore won in 2000? Amazing! I guess the recounts meant nothing. And, you actually believe that the Right is afraid of Gore? Let me tell you, the dream ticket for Conservatives to run against is Gore and Dean. The are both totally unhinged and nothing but caricatures of serious-minded people. No intelligent, serious could vote for either of the dingbats. Get Rel!

  234. Scott Says:

Well, I hate to say it, but I checked out Drudge. He's only linking to a Reuters story. Al needs a life out of politics, as do most of our Washington, D.C. Republi-crats. Maybe once half of the House members and Senators are in jail we can elect some decent people.

  235. RonaldusMagmus Says:

Favorite commie quote of the day:
"They are anti-diversity, and there’s no room for them."

Get Real!

  237. Haoleus Says:

Well this report blatantly lies and says Drudge took story off. THE STORY IS STILL ON http://www.drudgereport.com !!! So thats one strike for thinkprogress.org right off the bat.

Second of all whats the big deal? Republicans dont care that Gore drives because everybody drives. He prob put that on his site to cause a stir with the libs because they are the ones saying driving is evil.

Those defending Gore make it seem like he practices what he preaches. If you believe that you are in denial. The man flys in private jets, has parties on Yachts just like every other prominent political figure.

If Gore would stop trying to elevate himself from reality he wouldnt get all this negative press plain and simple.

  238. Lee Says:

Here's another inconvenient truth: Despite all the high-minded b***s***, even European countries (whose economies suck) are unable to meet their reduced emissions standards.

And another: You are all contributing to global warming by using electricity to power your computers. Or are you all exempt, like Al Gore? Do the polar bears a favor and stop blogging.

  239. Dave Says:

Liberals are like the 3 monkeys. They see, hear, and speak no evil anytime reality looks 'em square in the face. Now everyone join hands and let us chant "Bush did it".

  240. Wade Says:

Even if he did walk to the festival he is still an abuser of fossil fuels.

I do not believe Drudge made up the story about all the fuel Gore wasted to go to the Global Warming conference in Kyoto.

XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT FLASH XXXXX DECEMBER 7, 1997 23:56 PST XXXXX

GLOBAL WARMING ALERT: GORE BURNS 439,500 LBS OF FUEL TO ATTEND SUMMIT

Gore's plane, a Boeing 707 gas guzzler burns on average 4.1 gallons a mile.
The complete Washington to Florida to Washington to Alaska to Japan and
return to Washington trip calculated from commercial air mileage tables is
just over 16,000 miles total. Gas gallons needed for AIR FORCE II to go
16,000 miles: 65,600. Applying the average price of $2.01 per gallon of
Jet A to the 16,000 mile r/t -- the fuel cost alone passes $131,000.00.
There are 6.7 pounds per gallon of jet fuel. Total pounds of fuel burned on
    Gore's Global Warming Express -- 439,500.
    Unprecedented Leadership.

Gore could have found a more efficient way to travel to the summit. Maybe he could have taken a commercial flight or is he too self important for that?

  241. Josey Says:

    What a bunch of Kooks
Well I would hang around but it is nice outside so gonna fire up my SUV and go chop down a few trees.

  242. American Joe Says:

This is just like the time that I watched a show on global warming with the libs at work! It was all boo hoo hoo look what they are doing to the earth. Then it was time to "warm" their cars up for 20 minutes before driving home for the night! How many of you have their heat on at 60 degrees at night during the winter like my family? I can safely bet that Gore doesn't! The a hole!

  243. JohnL Says:

    ThinkProgress SMEARS Drudge.
Read the Reuters story. Gore and his group of people used cars to arrive a the offical headquarters. EXPANDED CARBON FOOTPRINT. He only walked to the film screening. Are you all just mad because your hero was caught being hypocritical. Put him back in his Lock Box.

  244. Brian Says:

You morons should be aware that Drudge has now linked to this idiotic page of yours. THAT is how silly you look. Keep it up, retards. You manage to make Gore look even worse.

  245. ward Says:

It was Reuters that reported this not Drudge. Drudge may be an idiot but he's not the one that screwed this up.

  246. Vote Bush 2008 Says:

Liberals still mad about 2000 election? get over it..........

  247. Gore Says:

Everyone that posts here is an idiot. They make as many false claims about Drudge, Fox, or "the right" as they claim they make about "the left".

The only difference between a Republican and a Democrat is which liars they are willing to believe.

  248. Sirrius Says:

You critics are slamming Drudge because he reported a story that was originally reported from Reuters India. Gore may have 'walked' to the screening, but he WAS seen driving to the Cannes on a different occasion. Yup, just another case of "Do what I say, not what I do" of the whacky liberal left.

Hey, how did Gore get to the Cannes anyway? Walk from America? Me thinks not!

  249. John Says:

This is so amusing…when someone says, does, or proves something the left disagrees with it’s a “smear campaign”, yet when they do it it’s “speaking the truth to power”. NEWS FLASH… Global Warming is caused by…THE SUN!! yes it's the sun and not mankind. It’s okay though; you can disbelieve this "inconvienient truth", and instead rely on statistically insignificant data and faulty assumptions. The truth (and the Earth) will still be there when you grow up and become adults. Cheers

  250. Jack Says:

Just so you know I personally saw Gore last year in California driving a Cadillac Escalade. He doesn't give a sh** about the environment.

  251. Cider Says:

I just think you boys at thinkprogress need to stop crying so much.

  252. Darin Says:

What's new Gore is a liar and hypocrite. He lost the election for a reason!

  253. Wack Job Says:

How DARE Drudge link to a Reuters story that said Gore drove. Filthy linker!

  254. chris caudill Says:

Get over it. Gore's movie is not about real science. The planet has had 7 major climate changes before mankind. This is not man made. Most reputable scientist disagree with Al. The man suffers from a mental disorder.

  255. Debbie Says:

WOW you libs are really full of hatred I'll stick to conser sites and the truth

  256. Bubba Sparks Says:

The right isn't scared of Gore, how anyone can say Gore won in 2000 is INSANE.

Rudy will win in 2008, Gores a MORON!

  257. jamie j juhase Says:

Once again only the cry babies( DEMS) are complaining. Al Gores movie is a lie from strt to finsh. Is the world going to end in the next two year! I have not seen one positive idea from them. IN SIX YEARS!! You don't need spies anymore you just have to listen to the DEMS and that is all you need. They are aganist National Defense. Then the papers tell everything about what we do, how come they don't have the guts and talk to the terroist and see what they do to people. It is a shame. As soon as the DEMS get power, we will have another attack but bigger. Vote Dems and your families die!

  258. Reuters Says:

It has been sourced. I would name the source, but you guys don't care anyway. You will call it a lie and make excuses.

  259. DeeperThinker Says:

it must be horrible to be a liberal, always living in fear and envious of what others have.

concerning global warning... I leave my car running out in the driveway for at least 20 minutes every morning to contribute. if it means a milder winter where I live I am all for it and will work to make it a reality

  260. Gloth Says:

Gore's home state voted against him.

  261. Blane Says:

Anybody who doesn't think the left isn't full of extremist kooks need only come here to have their pipe dreams shattered.... get a life folks!!

  262. Bill H Says:

Al Gore is a complete fraud. How anyone of any political persuasion can still follow him is beyond me. He lost the 2000 election through the proper Constitutional process, couldnt accept the result and dragged the country through a disgraceful court battle lasting months which embarrassed us around the world. Gore (together with Clinton) even made Nixon look like a completely honorable gentleman.

As for his "carbon neutral" status, this is a joke. I am sure Gore would justify his many travels as serving a larger good - the fight against "global warming". But, the reality is he is using you gullible sheep (liberals) to enrich himself and live a lifestyle Kings did not enjoy just 100 years ago. And finally, as for the walk vs. ride debate. You can tell by looking at Gore that he hasnt been walking many places. What a fat beast he has become. How many pigs, chickens and cows have died for his waistline. How much carbon has been spewed into the atmosphere to truck in his many meals? Go on a diet, Al, and try living like your poor, uneducated constituents.

  263. Judd Says:

Drudge did not link to the Reuters story on May 22, when this post was written. His story was unsourced and did not have a link.

Today, he linked to a Reuters story that says Gore drove to a different event, not the screeening. His first, unsourced story was not accurate.

  264. PJ Says:

Wow, all you uninformed left wing scum are preaching to your own choir. Wasting time as usual I see ...

By the way, election 2000 + election 2004 = PWNED!

  265. Sam Says:

Creative bunch here - "Liars" and "Lying liars" - DOPES!

Riddle me this - does Al's walk "all over the world" to promote his global warming alarmist view or does he burn LOTS and LOTS of jet fuel. Hypocryte!

Oh yeah and didn't Gore invent the internet? Since we're talking about lying liars here.

  266. Ralph Says:

You liberals already have a media oultlet that makes up stories. It's called CBS 60 Minutes. By the way I expect Gore to be claiming he invented walking on Lettermen later next week.

  267. CR Says:

IF YOU'D CHECK THE SOURCE OF THE GORE STORY (REUTERS) YOU'D FOCUS YOUR ANGER AT THEM! I DIDN'T SEE ONE RESPONDENT BRING THIS UP. CLEARLY A LOT OF HATE FOR DRUDGE!

  268. rightwingconspiracist Says:

Wow! I don't know why I am always surprised to see how much the left wants to believe in good and evil (read democrat and republican). It's out of control! I guess I just don't understand...is the decline of the left's ideology, or the rise of information, scaring people to the point of absolute hatred and intolerance? Is an opposing opinion really that bad? Bad enough to hate?

Go ahead and hate Drudge. It's expected of you. The rest of us will develop opinions after knowing the facts. Try as you may, but your blind hatred will not force ignorance on the rest of us.

  269. carbon footprint Says:

Al Gore and his crew leave a bigger carbon footprint everywhere they go then 100,000 people. How can causing more pollution lead to less pollution, makes no sense. You all are just bitter because Al Gore wasn't smart enough to become president.

  270. dougie Jay Says:

Gore is and always will be an eletist phony. i hope he wins the nomination.

  271. Dave Says:

Drudge links to a Reuter's story that reports Gore rode a 500 meter distance and then later walked a shorter distance to the screening.

Evidently the nitwits at "Thinkprogress" cannot tell the difference between an original story and a link to someone else's work, which just so happens to be 99% of what Drudge's news site is all about. And just so happens to be precisely how he "reported" your asinine claim, by linking to the "Thinkprogress" story.

What a bunch of witless chumps. A paradigm of the sort of thinking so called "progressives" do. It is truely a wonder.

  272. rich Says:

who cares how much fuel al gore uses, the point that is being missed here is that the whole global warming is caused by co2 emmisions from man theory is nothing but junk science and doesnt stand up to the scientific method, for example , there is no way to even remotely measure co2 in the atmosphere or how much is being released naturally or how much is naturally soaked back up by plants which turn co2 into oxygen thru photosynthesis, the margin for error in theses studies is far greater than the temperature variations that would be conducive to some kind of extreme climate change, oh and by the way , isnt al gore one of the guys who was telling us an ice age is coming about 30 years ago?

  273. Ryan U Says:

A good Ad Hominem attack (see every comment on this article) is the basis of many a logical fallacy.

  274. THE REAL Bubba Sparks Says:

THIS GOES OUT TO ANYONE WHO CAME HERE BECAUSE OF DRUDGE NOT BECAUSE YOU'RE A FREQUENT VISITOR TO THIS LAME WEBSITE.

THESE HIPPIES CAN'T GET OVER THE FACT THAT GORE LOST, THAT GORE LIES, THAT GORE IS A HYPOCRITE... HOW DID GORE GO OVERSEAS TO PROMOTE THIS LAME MOVIE? HE FLEW. HE FLEW A LOT... HES AGAINST USING GAS, YET HE USED MORE IN A FEW WEEKS THAN MOST AMERICANS USE IN A YEAR! LAME, VERY LAME.

AS FAR AS THE BOTTOM 20ISH OR SO COMMENTS SUPPORTING DRUDGE, I'M WITH YOU. THE MAN IS LEGIT. THE MAN NEVER LIES, AND HAS A STRONGER FOLLOWING THAN THE ENTIRE DEMOCRAT PARTY!

ALL THESE KOOKS WILL DO IS KEEP THE "BUSH LIED" CRUD GOING... NOTHING YOU/WE SAY WILL CHANGE IT. ALL WE CAN DO IS LAUGH AT HOW STUPID SOME PEOPLE ARE.

...GO SMOKE A DOOBY YOU LEFTIST HIPPIES, RUDYS TAKING OVER IN 2008!!!

  275. Brett Says:

Hey pinheads, why not look at the link before assuming a lie or a conspiracy? The story was reported by Reuters (http://in.today.reuters.com/news/newsArticle.aspx?type=entertainmentNews&storyID=2006-05-22T232359Z_01_NOOTR_RTRJONC_0_India-250545-1.xml), quote: "Last week, Gore and his team were seen driving the 500 metres or so from a hotel to the Cannes festival headquarters in several cars." Last I checked Reuters isn't known as an agent of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy.

I'm no great supporter of Drudge and I'm not carrying his water, but if you folks can't even get the basic facts straight how on earth do you expect to ever win an election? Reasonable people can disagree about global warming as well as other political issues, but all the fever swamp conspiracy theory nonsense from the Angry Left is only marginalizing your impact on the debate.

  276. Jeff Says:

And I guess this web page was designed by using totally carbon neutral electricity? And the person who owns the web page must walk to work.
Unfortunately Gore's carbon neutral means - regular people - dont use up all the gas because Gore needs it.
At this stage in life it is not possible to use Gas to get to and from work (for a majority of the world).

  277. Cubby Says:

A lie repeated does not eventually become the truth. What presidential election did Al Gore win? "I didn't like the results so I will make up my own." Is that how the left operates?
To anyone willing to sit through this Al Gore movie, you need to read Michael Crichton's State of Fear. Again, you can not espouse theory as though it were unquestionable fact. The vacuum of fear for the masses needs to be filled with something and Global Warming is the topic du jour.

  278. Chris Testa Says:

Neo cons, Nazis, and everything you liberals throw at and does not stick, is justification for not allowing your side of the aisle back into power. Get over the 2000 election, shut your pieholes about how Bush lied, he did not. If he did so did Kerry, Kennedy, Clinton, etc.

Wake up and smell the hate that has been exhibited from Islamic Radicals that wish to destroy our freedoms, the same freedoms that allow each of us to post our comments. This is what we face, this is the enemy. Liberal, Cons, NeoCons, Moderates, we are all in the same boat. They want to destroy US. I personally will not let some towel headed terrorist hurt my fellow American, regardless of your political views. I would defend to the death, and I own the guns to back it up! This is my country, our country, and we need to keep it in tact. They are the enemy, not all of us that are disagreeing together.

  279. Al Gore, a.k.a. the inventor of the Internet Says:

Whatever you do, don't let facts get in the way. The problem with liberals is, well, they're liberal. Al show and no go, Al is a great role model for the lefrt...he talks a good game but doesn't believe his own rhetoric.

Oh BTW. Get over the 2000 Presidential election. You had another shot at Bush in 2004 and still couldn't defeat him. As unpopular as he seems at this very moment, the Democrats don't have anyone that could beat him today. Nuff said.

  280. Al Gore, a.k.a. the inventor of the Internet Says:

Whatever you do, don't let facts get in the way. The problem with liberals is, well, they're liberal. All show and no go, Al is a great role model for the lefrt...he talks a good game but doesn't believe his own rhetoric.

Oh BTW. Get over the 2000 Presidential election. You had another shot at Bush in 2004 and still couldn't defeat him. As unpopular as he seems at this very moment, the Democrats don't have anyone that could beat him today. Nuff said.

  281. Reggie Warren Says:

About the best thing I can say about Al Gore is "at least he's not Bill Cliton" and thanx for inventing the internet....AL. or maybe he just voted for it before he voted against it. I kinda like these funny papers....keep up the "like" good work kids..."Like....OK"

  282. Haoleus Says:

Here is the URL to the Drudge story. As you can see it really isnt an inaccurate Drudge Story at all but a REUTERS story. STRIKE 2 for THINKPROGRESS.ORG!

    http://in.today.reuters.com/news/newsArticle.aspx?type=entertainmentNews&storyID=2006-05-22T232359Z_01_NOOTR_RTRJONC_0_India-250545-1.xml

  283. Swamp Thing Says:

Wow just Wow the hatred of the left amazes me. They never let the facts stand in their way.

  284. I Be Slick Willy Says:

HAHA I saw some guy proclaim that Al Gore should SUE Matt Drudge for malicious intent. That's funny. Maybe George Bush should sue the Democratic party then and all of it's members for the same thing. Hell he could sue 48% of the freakin country. Ah liberals gotta love their "It's free speech only if I say it's free speech" aproach.

LOL what is also funny is how long it's taking me to post this. Drudge's site is so much more popular that his fans have clogged up your servers. HA! I guess it's not a good idea to mess with Matt Drudge.

  285. Dan Keogh Says:

Lies and the lying liars. This is Lib Central to be sure. Who could posibly back a nut case like Gore? Bush won, get over it. Even if Gore walked to the screening it was nothing more than staged publicity. As bloated as he looked in recent years it was probably the only time he walked.

  286. m klass Says:

The story does show he walked from the hotel, but rode at other points which is standard at Cannes. Standard at Cannes, but shouldn't be standard for Gore. He is speeding up global warming g-d forbid. So what if it turns out that he drove part of the time. So what if the story was Reuters and not Drudges. Drudge must be a liar for everything else. Right?

  287. Joe Mama Says:

I'm super Serial. Watch out for ManBearPig you bloated piece of shit. Al has the personality of a platypus penis. Douche Bag

  288. R W Says:

You braniacs didn't even bother to check the source of the story before commenting? Typical libs, ignore facts/deny facts/personally attack messenger, almost always in that order! What a intolerant, underinformed yet gullible bunch of hypocrites.

  289. liberal loather Says:

gore is fast becoming a parody of himself, his hysterical eco-wacko pronouncements are merely scare mongering and NOT rooted in real science. global warming is hardly proved yet one way or the other. I recall just a generation ago when the eco wackos were predicting another ice age etc and environmental doom for us all ... it NEVER happened as we saw. liberals need to ditch Gore and distance themselves from him or they risk becoming an even bigger laughing stock by serious minded clear thinking folks who actually base decisions on facts and not mindless leftist rhetoric and visceral anti- conservative emotion. the worst part of Gore's massive carbon footprint is all the bitter hot air he's still producing after LOSING legimately to Bush in 2000.

  290. Fred Says:

Speaking of hypocracy, keep this in mind of the leaders of the Family Values posse: Rush Limbaugh, four marriages. Bill O'Reilly, cheated on his wife with an intern. George Bush, former cocaine users. Dick Cheney, homosexual daughter. And so on...

  291. happyfeet Says:

Wow it is interesting the liberal mindset. I thought liberals are for free speech and free love ("free" being the most applicable word)?! What's with the anger? I have an idea - you all should set up a protest! That would show them all!

  292. Suckered Says:

Drudge needs to be shot for suckering me to waste this last 30 min. perusing this Idiotic Site.

    Never to return,
    Suckered no more

  293. mike Says:

OK...lemme get this straight...Al Gore , who in 8 years as vp could accomplish nothing, is NOW going to tell people how to go green... what a moron... he should have done somthing about it when he was in office...not come out and play armchair quarterback...

oh and someone with a clue tell me how WE are the cause of global warming...and its not just a natural cycle of evolution... well ya cant since we only have accurate weather records for the last 50 years...

oh ... and what about the effects of the sun on our planet which are unmeasurable even today...our magnetic field is at its lowest point that we have ever seen and that blocks most of the solar wind from reaching us...

but I guess that info wouldnt further the agenda of the "greenies" ...

Funny thing is I drive a Hybrid...and dont even agree with the current admins....but I definetly am not blind to the fact that the left is insane as well.

Its all smoke and mirrors to detract from the bigger issues we face as a human race...and for all of us to keep fighting right vs left as they both rip us off blind and take away our freedoms...

  294. David Says:

    Libs owned HARD again?

    Seems so.

  295. Kredd Says:

this cracks me up-how sad! Sorry, y'all, but Al Gore is a weenie. And a loser weenie at that.

I like this quote: "Further, Paramount has committed to making the entire tour promoting the film carbon neutral."

    Carbon neutral???? WHAT?

Y'all need to get yourselves a life.

  296. happyfeet Says:

Wow it is interesting the liberal mindset. I thought liberals are for free speech and free love ("free" being the most applicable word)?! What's with the anger? I have an idea - you all should set up a protest! That would show them all!

I do hope Gore runs in 2008 again - but, if he does, which Gore will we see?

  297. haha Says:

Watch Drudge's trolls come out by the dozen. Much fun to watch.

  298. Lori Says:

Hey, #269, since when has the left cared about accurate sources? Remember the immortal words of a great liberal media icon "It does not matter if the story is accurate, it is the content that counts. No one has proven that the story is not true" or something like that. And what about ABC not retracting their completely FALSE story about Speaker Hastert? Start whining about true journalistic innacuracies, and stop making up reasons to spew your anti-conservative venom.

  299. Sad Clown Says:

"The representative said that arriving at events like photocalls and news conferences in cars was normal practice in Cannes. And Gore walked the shorter distance from another hotel to the festival for the movie's screening." - From Reuters

  300. rich Says:

global warming and the scientific method examined here http://xtronics.com/reference/globalwarming.htm

  301. TJ Says:

You people are all nuts! Gore never won the election...get over it!
We conservatives are not afraid of Gore except where his delutional thoughts of global warming are concerned.

  302. A wanna be LIB Says:

Hey...Maannn.....like pass the grass maaann. Too much thinking hear maaann. Duuuuddd where's the Kool Aid??? Mannn. The intellectual depth of the liberals is astounding. Some of these people vote?

  303. andres jhuves Says:

HAHAHAHAHAHA... THINKPROGRESS.ORG doesn't even research its stories!!! this was a Reuters post, drudge just linked to it. thinkpress reiterates their own stupidity.

  304. mike johnson Says:

The strategy of misdirect is always the way a good misleading person would function. The theory of "Global Warming" Is not widley held by weather experts, they see it as affected by the "SUN" A large ball 93 million miles away that has been heating this panet and frying planet Mercury for thousands of years.... that DUH... IS THE THING THAT HEATS THIS PLANET. DUH,,, GORE LOST THE ELECTION ACCORDING TO THE SUPRMEME COURT.. A more liberal than now..court. Get facts then spew.. Loudmouths.

  305. Proud Neocon Says:

Gore is as much a nut case as Dean so I really don't pay attention to what he says. It is rather amusing though to see him promoting his global warming fantasy to the world. I guess it's better than having him in charge of anything.

  306. John Jacobs Says:

Wait a bunch of utter fools! Your mama's should be ashamed of you all. Matt Drudge is after the money, just as everyone else in the limelight is, but you idiots take the cake for following Al Gore's LUNATIC antics just as foolishly as do the Drudgeites. Get a life and get REAL!

  307. Sam Says:

Wow you libs are loony. I don't want to tip you guys off, but how do you guys expect anybody to believe you if you keep spouting these crazy consperacy theories? I sometimes wonder if I could vote for a Democrat because I think the Republican party has lost its way. But after reading some of the crazy stuff posted on here, there is not a chance. How do you people expect to be taken seriously?
And everybody else, don't nitpick Gore for flying over there to promote a movie. The guy has to travel. You can't promote a movie by sitting stationary, you have to get out there. Certainly you guys can come up with something better. And get your heads out of the sand, global warming is here and will get worse if we don't do something. Kyoto is definitly not the answer, but we need to do something soon.

  308. Common Sense Says:

You got to be kidding me again, but then this is typical LIB blib or I should say a blog.
Reminds me of the idiotes in Dylan Thomas's "Under the Milkewood Tree" who were waiting for the endo of the world on the street corner at a precise time, then when the time came and went they bitched about it not happening and then planned for the next end of the world meeting the following week.

    1. ILL EAGLE's build a wall, send them home and make them wait in line.
    2. Islamo Nazi's - Kill em all
    3. Global Warming - Ok Al, tell me what the Earth's Temperture was in 1192 AD,
Whos to say we are not on a 1000 year cycle right now? Oh and why didnt we see
an increase at the start of the industrial revolution?
    4. Watch out bloggers AL want to tax you on a per word basis.
    5. Coming elections Vote only for those that have common sense. Bet we wont vote for many from either party these days.

  309. A dissenting voice Says:

That lying Drudge bastard! Just because the story moved over the Reuters wire service doesn't make it true. More Republican and Fox News propaganda.

Reminds of Kerry trying to dodge that fact that he owned a couple of SUVs during the last campaign. Be a man, man up, we all like to ride in cars and SUVs when we can, Al Gore included. For crying out loud, It's not the end of the world. Wait a minute...

Can't wait to see the remake of an Al Gore slideshow on global warming.

  310. Mugruncher Says:

why arent libs mad at gore for all the money he made with google, i thought being rich flies in the face of communism errrrr....liberalism!

  311. John Jacobs Says:

What a bunch of utter fools! Your mama's should be ashamed of you all. Matt Drudge is after the money, just as everyone else in the limelight is, but you idiots take the cake for following Al Gore's LUNATIC antics just as foolishly as do the Drudgeites. Get a life and get REAL!

  313. whosebone Says:

the earth may or may not be warming or cooling, some glaciers are receding, some are advancing, some areas of antarctica has ice thickening, some melting, but this contantly changing climate has been constantly changing since the beginning of time. Half dome in Yosemite here in california was formed by a glacier slicing off half of the mountain, so obviously there has been some warming since that time, but the warming had NOTHING to do with man's activities just as climate today has nothing to do with man's activities. There is nothing man can do to affect weather or climate, so instead of moaning about climate, look at the good things that could result from a warming world, new opportunities for longer growing seasons in colder areas, a new shipping route, and less energy needed for staying warm. Stand aside liberals, and let the adults address the challenges we face.

  314. Andrew Edy Says:

YAAAA MAAANNNN Gore won in 2002 MAAAAAN, Bush is an idiot Mannnnn..BLAH BLAH BLAH. FO and DIE

  315. Stacy Says:

Trust me, the right is not afraid of Gore. We hope he runs in 2008. Hopefully he'll have Howard Dean as his VP candidate. That would be awesome.

  316. John Clark Says:

Let us see who is correct, I would say right but I don't want to lean one way or the other. I think Al Gore should run in 2008 against whoever the Republicans run. Of course if he can't run as the Democrat nominee, Gore can sell his Oxydental Petroleum stock and run as an independent or Green Party candidate. Let the voters decide if Al Gore should be President. At least now we know what kind of person he is. Walking his way across the US from town to town showing his movie in enviromental theaters that don't create any pollution, because to power the projector he brings out a treadmill and invites someone to literally run the projector.

Al Gore for 2008 Democrat Candidate

  317. Dr. Randall Says:

Yeah! Drudge is bad! Real bad! Stupid guy with a job, he should pay more taxes to support the environement! I personally think that all educated people shouldnt pay taxes, but all of those people who are exploiting the poor, and working against the environment, LIKE DRUDGE, should pay all the taxes. They have the money anyway, why shouldnt they? That way we educated people could travel the world preaching awareness on such issues, just like Vice President (SHOULD BE PRESIDENT) Gore is! Damn the wealthy! Damn Drudge! Damn logic, common sense, and those people who actually work!

  318. Paul Galvanek Says:

You liberal schucks grow more pathetic and stupid by the day.

First. Drudge didn't make the claims, it's a link to a Reuters wire story ...

Second, contrary to the claim o this blog the link on Drudge's site and the orgnal Reuters wire story are still there.

If you think everyone is a stupid enough to buy your BS, guess again.

  319. Gearge Bush Says:

lol at you pathetic losers making excuses for Al Bore.

  320. michael Says:

it's about time somebody called drudge on his right leaning "news" smears..thanks!!

  321. Jerry Says:

Al Gore - master of junk science and B.S. And because the masses are asses,
all the lefrist asses believe this idiot. He should gave been working on pre 9-11
anti-terrorist issues instead of whatever he did for 8 years. Then maybe the towers would still be standing. He's definitely in the top-10 most useless people in govt. or wherever he is considered now since technically he's not in govt. anymore. he deserves a Ringo Starr award.

  322. phil Says:

Herr Drudge hangs out at Gay bars in coconut grove part of miami....I would love to meet him after his night of crusing so that he might tell the latest news to a baseball bat swung at 100 mph to his head in order to stimulate some correct thinking.

  323. Dan Says:

    AND YOU CONSERVATIVES DON’T THINK . . .

    Comment by RememberMaxCleland — May 25, 2006 @ 12:12 pm

Is the irony lost on anyone else that mr. remembercleland thinks he wins the argument by showing that the article was unsourced? IT'S STILL TRUE! Unlike all the slurs against Bush and co. made my liberals over the years. You know there's other sources of news besides the Daily show and Colbert report, don't you? You know comedy central is not a news channel, right? As for the fascist suppression of dissent I saw mentioned, that's what was going on in Iraq. If you were against removing a tyrannical dictator who systematically used rape, torture, and murder to maintain his hold on powerj (and outlaw abortion!), doesn't that make you a facist supporter?

  324. Libertarian Says:

I concur, Gore and Dead--08. The right could run a resurected Adolf Hitler and still win.

  325. crusader bunnypants Says:

There is no global warming or cooling, all of nature ebbs and flows! I'm not a Republican or a Democrat, just a very angry U.S. Citizen. What the hell happened to the rest of you? I can say that I have no problem seeing the ENTIRE U.S. Government and its Corporate Liberal Media brought to very very "Swift Justice" for enabling the 911 attacks, lying to start a war of conquest in Iraq, losing a war of conquest in Iraq, and not upholding the oaths they swore to god to protect and defend the U.S. Constitution from enemies both foreign AND domestice! Wake up!

  326. WhatProgresss Says:

Ok Drudge is a conservative, but he gives equal time to his reporting. Not any political know it all goes unnamed. Go to his website and there is Cheney and Hastert with as many negative headlines as Gore, Pelosi, and Jefferson. The difference is Think Progress won't show both sides. Maybe, "think non-progress" is more like it. Sorry but think progress has a double std.

  327. Rod Says:

You people should lay off the crack pipe! The world is going to be destroyed by fire you nuts!

Also Gore did drive the 500 meters and said that it was standard practice according to the paramount publicist. Frankly I think it brings up a good point that just because it's common practice to show up in a car to photo shoots and such at the festival Gore could have made a statement by walking. This was a mistake no matter how you look at it.

As an environmentalist I'm disappointed in Gore for not making that statement and following common practices. The same kind of common practices and traditions he admitts we need to break!

  334. Tim L. (St. Louis) Says:

Drudge is the forerunner of the new kind of news that intends on making news instead of reporting it. If there's no good news, contrive it. No one seems to know the difference in these cynical postmodern times.

  335. Alex Says:

Do you idiots even click the link on Drudge before you start complaining? Drudge isn't writing the stories... that AP AND REUTERS ARE!!!

99% of Democrats give the rest a bad name.

  336. Alex Says:

Do you idiots even click the links on Drudge before you start complaining? Drudge isn't writing the stories... the AP AND REUTERS ARE!!!

99% of Democrats give the rest a bad name.

  337. P Skarulia Says:

Gore is anything BUIT carbon neutral. He didn't get to Cannes by sail boat. Additionally, with all the carbon dioxide the an exudes while talking, he single handedly creates holes in the ozone layer.

Additionally, where is this man;'s crdeibility ? The man who "invented" the internet. The same man who repeatedly states "facts" without regard to the truth, or reality.

The right has nothing to fear from Al Gore. The American public has been gored enough

  338. James Williams Says:

It's a Reuters story, not Drudge. Drudge reports little on his own, he just posts links, so how is that really lying on Drudge's part?

    Just curious.

  339. Mike Says:

Does Al Gore's private jet burn vegetable oil?

  340. Robert H. Says:

Do you young leftys ever tell the truth about anything? Drudge posts a link to a Reuters story about Gore, and you whine that he's "bashing" him? Oh my, how dare you run a story about our heros that doesn't support thier B.S.!
    Your all such hypocrites.
"All the evidence suggests that Mr. Gore is an elitist who passionately believes that the people of the world must drastically reduce their energy use but that it doesn't apply to him,? said Myron Ebell, CEI's director of energy and global warming policy and the creator of the video. http://streams.cei.org/

  341. GA Conservative Says:

Most time Drudge just links to news sites like Rueters. Who, by the way, has the story that Gore and his people took multiple cars to the festival that was about 500 meters away. It then adds that Gore did walk to the screening of his film from a closer hotel.

Drudge displays both conservative and liberal abuse articles along with other interesting information. They are not a news organization that must be very careful in proofing a story before it's release. They usually rely on the news sites to do that work. Why don't you call the NYT and CBS liars for running with exclusive stories that they didn't do the proper research on and later found that the "war veterans" or "Katrina victims" lied about being in the army or from New Orleans or had created fake documents?

I look at these posts and can't believe all the conspiracy plots that you guys think happened. Bush has made many mistakes as President, but he didn't blow up the TT and the voting machines didn't count extra votes for Bush. Think about it, if the idealists that run the 3 major news organizations haven't reported on the Diebold machines by now, then there is nothing to the story. Bushes main mistakes are not securing the border and creating a bigger government.

  342. Tim W. Says:

And Matt Drudge posted a link to this site from his.
Right or wrong, he is a stand-up guy.

  343. Al Gore Says:

Listen everyone, we had to take several cars because ManBearPig is still out there. And if rumors are to be believed, which I feel are completely accurate, ManBearPig is attending Cannes. I plan to eliminate ManBearPig with carbon monoxide. Believe me I'm Super Duper Cereal!!

  344. kongchangzilla Says:

    Gore Losers
What is the likelihood that the UN could fairly regulate carbon credits world wide in light of oil-for-food program?

  345. Will Says:

The original article was posted on Reuters...Drudge only linked to it. Get over it all, get on with your lives...no one likes a cry-baby...everyone in the world knows the dems and liberals have the market cornered on whinning.

  346. Brian D Says:

Pretty funny how common sense and the truth can silence the left. I guess they didn't count on anyone calling them on their uninformed tirades.

Al Gore and the kooks that put together his Global warming movie need to get a clue...Maybe try watching the History or Discovery channel and learn that you can't come to a conclusion about whats going on with the weather from a few core samples..

So say we cut emissions to make Gore happy, then we have a few volcanic eruptions, large gas releases from the oceans, maybe some forest fires and whatever else that contributes to the so called "Global warming effect", then what do you do? Cut emissions more?

The left and traitors on the right have a plan...Let 10's of millions of more people in the country so they can start using more energy. "had to get my dig in on the illegal immigration bill and the morons pushing it on us"

But seriously the earth will be here long after we are gone, and global warming will be the least of our worries.

  347. BUCH FUSH! Says:

KILL ALL HUMANS TO SAVE THE EARTH.

Start with Republicans, gun-owners, Xians, bible-owners, SUV-owners and libertarians.

  348. Steve Says:

Gore uses junk science to try and scare the public. What scares me is he may really believe this crap then he is a certifiable lunatic. Are the ice caps melting? YES, they have been since the last ice-age. Is it due to man’s “carbon emissions?” Hell no. The contribution by man in tiny compared to what the oceans belch up every year.

If anyone cares about the real science here it is based on 20 years of satellite data. If the planet were really experiencing “global warming” due to green-house gases then the upper atmosphere would be warming at the same rate as the lower atmosphere, but it’s not. In fact the upper atmosphere is actually cooling. What a bunch of stupid sheep you are.

  349. Proud Democrat & Communist Says:

YOU NAZIS WINGNUTS DON'T USE CRITICAL THINKING LIKE WE REASONABLE LEFTISTS WHO REPEAT TRUTHS TO POWER OF GORE, KERRY & THE DNC!

  350. libs are lame Says:

You libs are so pathetic. I guess Reuters is part of your "right-wing conspiracy"

CANNES, France (Reuters) - The Cannes film festival reached its halfway point on Monday, although bleary-eyed journalists and PR teams seemed to wish it was closer to the end.

Following are some snippets from on and around the Croisette, Cannes' palm-lined waterfront.

    AL GORE "CARBON NEUTRAL"

A representative affiliated with "An Inconvenient Truth", a film about global warming involving former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, has stressed that the movie and Gore's tour to promote it are "carbon neutral".

Last week, Gore and his team were seen driving the 500 metres or so from a hotel to the Cannes festival headquarters in several cars. The representative said that arriving at events like photocalls and news conferences in cars was normal practice in Cannes. And Gore walked the shorter distance from another hotel to the festival for the movie's screening.

  351. JP Says:

I bet you guys weren't posting comments like this when Drudge broke the story about Rush Limbaugh's drug problem, huh? Back then, I bet Drudge was a trustworthy source of news!

  352. I invented the internet Says:

    Al Gore is an ID10T!!

  353. dan Says:

you liberals are all going to hell!

  354. gee Says:

Oh please.... I swear this is nothing but typical hardline liberal whinning.... would you guys like some cheese... you obviously have enough wine..... even Jesus would be proud of you guys.... I think you guys made more wine than he did from water....

oh wait... you guys have no faith.... no beliefs.... no wonder your miserable....

  355. Oldairhead Says:

You guys just cant take it when the truth about your hero is revealed. Gore is just another elitist who thinks you should do the right thing but he is exempt. His carbon footprint this year alone is more than I will ever create in my lifetime! We would all be better off if he would just fade away.

  356. Scott Says:

You bunch of Gore humping pansies. Drudge didn't write the article, the AP did. So go bash someone else and leave Matt Drudge alone. It's called freedom of speech in case you forgot.

Thank you Dan (item 330) I couldn’t have said it better myself.

  357. Joe Says:

Manbearpig is still out there people I am ceral.

  358. Joe Says:

Amen Will - Wake up Libs!!!

    From Reuters.com -

"Last week, Gore and his team were seen driving the 500 metres or so from a hotel to the Cannes festival headquarters in several cars. The representative said that arriving at events like photocalls and news conferences in cars was normal practice in Cannes. And Gore walked the shorter distance from another hotel to the festival for the movie's screening"

You die hard libs need to grow up, get over 2000 elections, and throw away the kool-aide. Algore is all about the money and power. Oh, I'm sorry - it's all a vast right wing conspiracy.

  359. Kevin Says:

Whiney little liberals, Gore just wants to be in the spotlight. Like Micheal Moore, he lies to the public and passes it off as a documentary. Braindead liberals lap it up without question....

  360. Cisco Says:

Tell me, how much energy does Al baby use traveling the world and the country in private jets?

The only person easier for the republicans to beat in 08 than Kerry and Shrillery is Gore.

    Please get him nominated!

  361. James Williams Says:

So, Drudge didn't have the source first, but does now and it turns out that for the most part, he was right, so are all the people that posted what a liar he is going to come back and say they are sorry?

Drudge may be a conservative, and wrong about 10% of the time, but he goes after everyone and I like that, he's faster to the punch than 90% of the other outlets out there, so if he's wrong 10% of time, big deal.

  362. Al GOOOORRE Says:

    ManBearPig!!!! LOL

Poor Al he still can't believe he lost and this is a sad attempt to be in the weak spotlight. Al.. Just to let you know. It is not a spotlight, it is Bill Clinton with a flashlight.

    Good luck old pal.

  363. GA Conservative Says:

Bush created the Ice Ages and he killed all the dinosaurs.

I bet he killed the dinosaurs to create all the oil so he and his buddies could get rich. Alright, so maybe a huge meteorite caused the damage to block out the sun and kill the dinosaurs, but you get my point. We do have an impact on the earth's tempature, but we weren't even around for most of the ice ages so please explain why they occurred? Lets be responsible for our impact on the earth, but let's not be chicken little.

  364. dougie Jay Says:

thanks to the almighty drudge -- the 1/2 dozen or so regular poster's to this site have logged off

  365. JP Says:

Ever notice how the rest of the ex presidents and VP's stay out of the spotlight where Bill & Al do everything in their power to stay in it?

  366. Meanie Says:

Silly Libs...This is some of the best entertainment available...listening to you people snap and cry with your conspiracy theories is wonderful.

Drudge links to other sites that have the stories...in this case it was Reuters. On a regular basis he goes after both the left and the right with his stories. What I would do is monitor his site on a regular basis and you might discover that.

It sure is great that Bush's 4th cousin twice removed actually owns Diebold and that he was able to produce the machines to generated the faulty votes to win that little election in 2000. Jeb actually snuck into different voting locations and replaced real Gore votes with Bush votes! AND he was paid to do it by Halliburton...and big oil of course...

I'm sure most of you didn't know that, but you heard it here first. It's the truth...you just read it on the internet...how could it not be the truth!?!

  367. tom Says:

well put John Carlisle. Everyone is freaked out about a slight warming, when the real disaster will be in the next period of global cooling which will come sooner or later. Warming and cooling takes place over 10,000 or so years, and we are panicing over the last 60 years? Al Gore has found his soapbox and will continue to yell to whoever will listen as long as it keeps him in the public's eye.

  368. Tony Says:

I suppose you guys will tell us Gore walked to Cannes across the Atlantic.Last I heard private planes are NOT the most efficient use of energy.....

  369. Lamont Cranston Says:

So if Drudge were a liberal gay that would be OK?!?!

  370. Sean Says:

Are you dems even listening to yourselves? "I can't believe he gets away with smearing Gore with impunity! The sky is falling!" And how much smearing of our President Bush do you nut jobs do on a daily basis? HYPOCRITS!

  371. dawg Says:

    maybe he is

  372. Mohamed alGore Says:

The problem that America has with liberals is the hypocrisy:

    Liberals say:

    - I know what is best for you, but dont expect it to apply to me. (Gore and pollution, Rosie and guns)

    - You must be tolerant, but dont expect me to be. (Any liberal that declares any disagreement to them as hate speech or anyone who disagrees a nazi or facist)

    - You must be pro-choice. (Abortion must be a choice, but not school choice or tax spending choice, etc.)

We know that for every statement there is two truths (the liberal vs right), unfortuate, but it appears to be the case in todays world.

The solution is to give total freedom of choice and true accountability. (William Jefferson - I dont care what the video shows, I did not do it - there is another side to the story)

  373. Ray Robison Says:

I have to congratulate Think Progress for sticking by its story even after being so clearly, demonstratedly wrong. "He’s been running this story, unsourced, all day:"

    Meanwhile at drudge: drudge

"Last week, Gore and his team were seen driving the 500 metres or so from a hotel to the Cannes festival headquarters in several cars. The representative said that arriving at events like photocalls and news conferences in cars was normal practice in Cannes. And Gore walked the shorter distance from another hotel to the festival for the movie's screening."

Way to stand by your story Think Progress! Those bush loving right wingers will learn that a story isn't sourced if it didn't come from dailykos!!

  374. BK Says:

Al's just lonely. Pretend to listen, it will make him happy.

  375. Cowboyup Says:

The intensity of the hatred of the left, including liberals, progressives, communists, etc., would seemingly have caused mental breakdowns in most. Oh, I forgot, most are already mentally deranged. This common sense explanation by John Carlisle will make them even more so. Nothing infuriates them like common sense opinions, or facts, that contradict their strait-laced dogma. They are nihilists and wish deep down for the total subjugation and even destruction of the U.S. Mao's 70 million murdered were a mere inconvenience, as were Stalin's 20-30 million. Yet, Abu Ghraib sends them into a spittle-ejecting tirade. I must admit though, it would be infinitely easier to be a liberal and never have to produce anything positive. The thought is what counts, not results.

  376. J-Dub Says:

Never really checked out a blog site before but, found this topic to be incredibly interesting after finding the link on Drudge. Al Gore, the guy with the strip mine on his property. Al Gore, the guy that exploited water resources to make a 'nature friendly' campagne comercial buy openning a dam to make his canoe float. Algore, the guy that flys constantly to promote his misbegotten agenda as well as his own personal wealth. Na...he'd never avoid an opertunity to be 'carbon nutral'.

Al Gore is a fraud and you are all idiots. :)

  377. Crasher Burns Says:

Progress usually involves truth. Drudge has it, the authors of this site don't.

  378. SFC D Says:

YOU PEOPLE ARE ALL A BUNCH OF CONSPIRACY THEORISTS! YOU ARE ALL NUTS! WHO CARES IF GORE WALKED OR RAN OR FLEW THE 500 METERS! HE IS DONE, OVER, FINISHED, HE LOST GET OVER IT ALREADY!

  379. Matt Says:

Drudge posted this story on their site. Even ABC gets Bad info.

  380. Shannon Says:

Look forward to beating your next candidate libs. It's a good thing you enjoy whining, because you'll have 6 more years to do it.

  381. conservativered Says:

Who is pulling what out of his ass. Gore is nothing but a hack. Everything he says is a sensationalized lie. Try The Real Truth Gordoh.

  382. smartguy Says:

Please, PLEASE put Al Gore up for president again. Not only is he about as far left as any wacko, he also clearly represents the majority of mouth-breathing liberals today. The Republicans would love to see him run again. And lose. Again.

  383. JP Says:

Gore couldn't have flown accross the Atlantic, too much fuel...he must have taken a ship. Wait...ships probably use even more fuel. I got it, he rode in a wooden sailboat. No...that wouldn't work, wood requires cutting down harlmess trees and liberals are definately against that.

Maybe he rowed a plastic boat with plastic oars. Nah, that couldn't work either, you need petroleum to produce plastic.

    Hmmm....let me think...

Oh...duh...I've got it...he rode his bike accross America, up through Canada & Alaska, swam from Wales Alaska to Naukan, Russia and biked accross Russia & Europe. What was I thinking...it's so obvious!

  384. Geoff Says:

lol..u so-called conservatives crack me up!

  385. kevin Says:

The global temperature is not static. It has never been static. There were many Ice ages before us. There will be many while we are here and there will be more after man is gone from this earth. Basically the earth is still warming from the last ice age. Please quit telling everyone the sky is falling. By the way the last Ice age occurred without fossil fuels. Al Gore AKA "chicken little" should crawl back in his hole.

  386. Ian King Says:

    Angry, angry Drudge lovers.

    Why so angry?

Angry because your close, personal friend "Matt Drudge" backed GWB for prez over Gore in 2000, and helped bring about THE WORST PRESIDENCY EVER?

Too proud and stubborn to admit you made a collossal mistake?

Choose to express your no-doubt crippling regret and self-loathing as hatred of "liberals," whatever they are?

    How very sad.

  387. Pete Says:

Paramount has committed to making the entire tour promoting the film carbon neutral.

Just what the heck does this mean? How do they propose to do this? This is probably more rediculous than any anything else I have heard from the left about this topic.

You want carbon nuetral? Go Nuclear.

  388. Justin Case Says:

Who is this Al Gore guy?

  389. Barry Says:

Hey DUMMASSES! Most of Drudge's stories are simply LINKS to other sources! You morons have completely ignored the fact that the Drudge story on Gore "Ridin' to the theatre" ... was a link to an AP REPORT!

He BRIEFELY pulled the link to check the source, and REPOSTED it when the source was CONFIRMED!

Yet you dummasses continue to "blame the wrong guy" for a story that puts your environMENTAList wacko leader in a bad light!

  390. Independent Voter Says:

    I just have to laugh!

Neither the Republicans nor Democrats do a great job representing the country. At least you have to give Republicans a bit more credit since their people are not stupid and fall for everything their talking heads claim.

Take a look at this weak attempt to smear Drudge by this wacko leftists website. I guess if you people had a brain cell you will see it's from a Reuters article not from Drudge!

So once again the slime-balls on the left simply attack without using their brains. Maybe wake up and find your party has been taken over by extremists, Commies and special interest groups that hate America.

You people are disgusting. Next election I will simply vote Republican so I won't have to cater to the hate-mongers on the left!!

  391. Brad Says:

Thanks for the good laugh. Liberals and their pipe dreams. You will never learn

  392. Bal Hoone Says:

The furor over global warming is really scaring me...even now I am stockpiling large chunks of blubber some of it on my abdomen and some on my thighs...I am also saving ice in undergroud caberns to sell at a porfit, I hope I become a millionaire from global warming..I might write a book about gloval warming and sell hand made gloval warming parka's...i'm a geniue

  393. Geoff Says:

lets see...the iranian badge bs headline and dean sabotages nagin headline were both bs stories drudge ran for hours or even days after the were proved false. drudge does it all the time and usually never even retracts....unless he gets a call from lawyers, like with the nagin bs story...

lol...drudge...your not fooling anyone with a brain.

  394. K in IL Says:

    I think Drudge is HoT!

  395. Fredo Says:

It's funny how threatened "progressives" (don't get me started on the hypocrisy of that label/title alone!) and liberals seem to be by Drudge. Who cares? Nobody complaimed about the Abramoff stories... Or the CIA leak stories. But let's excommunicate Drudge for daring to say Gore walked! Come on.

Why don't people start complaining about the lack of press coverage of human rights violations in the Third World? Or the nationalization of private industries in Bolivia or Venezuela? Instead, they'd rather participate in self flagellation and tearing down their fellow American.

Ah well, I guess that's "progress." Well, when we as a country no longer have a moral fiber, and we are all degenerate scum bags in the name of individual liberties as upheld by the ACLU, then we'll all cheer with thunderous, albeit warped applause at the "progress" we've made as a nation and as a people.

  396. Steve Says:

wow only here can you find low lifes standing up for gore with his bullshit global warming attention cry.

  397. Dino Says:

Gore is a has been trying to hold on to what he has "left". Drudge is a great clearing house for all news stories. Dont get all Waaaa and act all indignant when some one publishes a story about Gore that turns out to be false because you all would all believe one that is fasle about the President. You know the guy who won the 2000 election fairly.

  398. Paul in Delaware Says:

This website reads like it is nothing more than DNC talking points or an echo chamber of alike thinking.

  399. J-Dub Says:

All you silly Libs have to do is support your accusations with a fact or two, but you can't so you throw rocks and cry when they don't break somebodys window. Sure brings a lot of humor into my life though.

  400. Sparky Says:

Drudge reports 500 yards from hotel to screening, you guys claim that is a smear since it was actually 500 meters from hotel to the Cannes festival headquarters! Oh, where's the investigation. Oh my, Drudge is so evil. Them bad, us good. I'd like to teach the world to sing... Idiots!

  401. thoroughly disgusted Says:

How stupid can you people be? First - he does write the articles, in this case REUTERS did (I know such a trash, tabloid style new source /sarcasm much?!)

Link to the Reuters Story the was the supposed 'smearing' the Drudge casued

Get a life, get an education - get a clue.

  402. slayer17 Says:

Reading these forum posts reminds me why idiot liberals can never be allowed to have power again. You people are crazy stupid. Al Gore is a bloated waste of time as are the lifeless, worthless ideas coming from the left. Where will it end..,,, When people like algore die off and this pathetic democratic party fades away only then will the world know true happiness.

  403. Alfred Prufrock Says:

Good post, Bal, you have the instincts of a cockroach, but your ice stockpile in deep underground caverns seems like a novel apporach to gloval warming and great money maker! Can I get in on it, the profiti side Imean, I don't want to be stuck in a dark cave with tons of ice, waiting for the warming time to come and make me rich..all in all, this site both scares and frigthen's me too. I think we should all buy large refrigerated houses and stay in doors to keep cool......some people would be allowed to work outside and care for the rest of us..we'll call those hard wroking outside people...slaves, and the inside people we'll call Democrats...i'm having fun

  404. Jude Says:

Oh you Glittering Jewels of colossal ignorance! The story was published by Reuters, not Drudge! Blaming the messgenger, are we?? What about the story about Hastert?? Oh I forget, it depends on what side of the isle you are on.....

  405. Bruce Frykman Says:

I think the point that the neocons are missing is the fact that Mr Gore is a member in good standing of the "we".

People of the "we" face extraordinary demands because unlike people of the "us" they got D's in high school science but A's in environmentalism, which is far more important than science is. Of course Mr Gore's carbon footprint is tens of thousands of times greater than ours is. What would you expect; environmentalists need to use a lot of carbon in order to convince the people of the "us" that they should use only a tiny little bit of carbon.

I work for an evil corporation that is expected to make evil profits so that they can be converted into wonderful taxes to support the wonderful lifestyles that the wonderful environmtalists of the "we" are so famous for. Because my evil corporation is required to make evil profits that can be turned into wonderful taxes by people of the "we", my corporation really cant afford to travel the globe anymore like wonderful enviromentlaists of the "we" can. Instead we do our evil (make profits) by using the internet and teleconferences to do our evil (proftibale) business around the world.

A group of thousands of the "we" just met (COP-8) in the Seychelles (thats a tropical archipelago in the Indian Ocean in case you were educated in a government school) to have their annual gala at a world class resort to bemoan the over use of carbon by people such as the people of the "us". Carbon/Shmarbon and pass the caviar say the people of the "we".

The people of the "us" should never question the wisdom of the people of the "we". Repeat after me: This Kool Aid is good; Heaven awaits us all in the tail of a comet; global warming is a real and very dangerous bogeyman, he'll getcha if you dont watch out .

  406. Milo Cook Says:

Why doesn't Al just teleconference these little meetings? Isn't that the most environmentally friendly way of doing this? Wouldn't that be closer to actually changing behavior conducive to being 'green' than flying all over the place?

When I go to seminars in my fields, the biggest keynote speakers don't fly in, they just teleconference.

    What's wrong with that?

  407. SFC D Says:

    CUKOO!CUKOO!CUKOO!

  408. Robert Says:

Honestly, step back and take a second to be thankful for the liberals... Did you read some of the posts on this site? They make me laugh, while I shake my head... I want to thank the libs for making me laugh.... even though it does get kinda scary when you realize that they are being serious !!!!

  409. Mike Kahler Says:

I guess the left looks at things they way they always do, with blinders on. The report you are referring to cam from Reuters....not Drudge. He posted the story. Does michael moore get a free pass because he is a left wing maniac? I don't know, if Gore were elected, we all would be wearing turbins.

  410. JP Says:

I live in Michigan...I can't wait for global warming to speed up!

  411. Me Says:

Gore's own hot air is causing global warming.

You far left freaks are so gullable.

  412. Geoff Says:

lol...conservatives who try and pretend we are spreading democracy in the middle east. idiots...

  413. Chris P Says:

So all the little Liberals are upset because Drudge had to retract "A" story. Where are Gores retractions for all the lies over the years. The Waco left has its champion again.

  414. Mohamed alGore Says:

    RE: Sam

Dont get carried away with the right truth, you know liberals have their own truth spin to yours.

Geoff - good post - nothing to say to all of the hate speech

    Damn nazis

  415. SeabeeVet Says:

Your morons. Drudge didn't write anything about Gore. Therfore he could not "smear" Gore. He posted a link to an article by Reuters that said Gore drove. Thats the problem with you idiot libs is you kill the messenger and blame them for just saying something. Of course free speech doesn't include anyone who disagrees with you.

  416. Bob Says:

What a collection of smug, hate filled, whiners you all are. A bunch of babies!

  417. Al Bore Says:

When you read the DRUDGE REPORT, do you ever click on the links to find out the source. All DRUDGE did was link to REUTERS ... news service... ever heard of it???

  418. Darryl Hodge Says:

Just came from Drudge report. He didn't pull the story. How is the lier?
Al is a JOKE and so is this BLOG

  419. magnus Says:

the article on Drudge came from an article by Reuters News, all he did was post it on his site. so no he did not make this up, blame the reporter who put it out. By the way, if you read the orginally peace it says that Gore walked and that the other people drove.

  420. denny Says:

… wow. i consider myself to be a moderate conservative and i don't like the way that Bush has been leading the country these past few years, but you guys are idiots. you want to know why you haven't been winning elections? because you simply refuse to see the corruption present in your precious Democratic party. 85% of ALL politicians are liars, hypocrites, corrupt and in it for nothing other than money and power. this includes Republicans, Democrats, Independants, EVERYONE. but if you think for a minute that people like you, who pull the wool over thier own eyes when it comes you "your" side of the debate are being taken seriously by anyone but yourselves you are sorely mistaken. i did link to this page from Drudge, read it, and not one person on this board posted an objective, unbiased opinion on the matter. have fun wallowing in you precious hardcore-liberal, "Democrats can do no wrong" slop guys. i'm going to go think for myself somewhere.

  421. Moggie Says:

    Carbon Neutral???

    Oh, AlBore gave up salad...

  422. Righty Tighty with a brain Says:

All of you apoplectic liberals writing here are too ignorant to realize how ignorant you are. The Drudge Report is merely publishing links to other news sources, such as your coveted Communist News Network, and the Nut York Times. When Mr. Drudge is reporting first hand, he quotes his sources or publishes a qualifier that his source is anonymous. These sets of stories he has carried on Former VP Gore are from YOUR leftist pals. You're so infinitely uninformed, you don't realize how utterly foolish you appear.

This begs the question if you have ever actually looked at the data on the global warming controversy. If you had, you would be amazed at how utterly stupid it is to carry on about the topic as though we know ANYTHING about whether the planet is indeed warming, cooling or static!

It also impedes REAL scientific review of REAL problems we face on the planet today, because people like you are devoid of any bearings on reality. Instead of helping the situation, you compound any real problems we have.

Mr. Gore is simply the Buffoon in Chief of a load of lazy sheep.

  423. Scott Says:

It looks like you are the ones lying, not Drudge.

  424. Pete Says:

Gore is a whining whacko. Can't he get a job?
And since the world is about to end, can I have all your stuff?

  425. dougie Jay Says:

#435 pretends to be conservitive so he can sneak a post in here amounst us. bless his heart... pretty funny

  426. Hugh Ferris Says:

Who cares about Al Gore... It appears he does not walk much, look how fat he is... He drove... Matt Drudge Rules... Liberals Drool...

  430. Sparky Says:

Last week, Gore and his team were seen driving the 500 metres or so from a hotel to the Cannes festival headquarters in several cars. The representative said that arriving at events like photocalls and news conferences in cars was normal practice in Cannes. And Gore walked the shorter distance from another hotel to the festival for the movie's screening.

    Go on, sue me too!

  431. A Personal Question Says:

The use of the term "algore" is a Rush Limbaugh phrase, correct? What does it mean? Why do the conservatives use it with such glee? Is it funny, and if so, why? I am really curious, and I hope one of you with a sense of humor could enlighten me.

  432. Bryan Says:

To all those pointing out that it was Reuters that printed the story and that Drudge was only posting a link. Remember you are talking to Liberals. They don't take kindly to facts unless it supports their position (this doesn't happen often though). Their philosophy seems to be "why tell the truth when you have a perfectly good lie". The also seem fond of halftruths. "The earth is warming and it's man's fault". Ummm yeah, the earth is warming and then it cools then it warms again. This has been going on for eons. It's a cycle.

  433. JimDog Says:

This pretty much sums it all up: Al Gore: An Inconvenient Story

  434. Alfred Prufrock Says:

it is time to sop all this foolish concern about the environment and spend more time worrying about me, yes, me! I'm an important part of the universe, at the higher end of the food chain and not enough people worry or care about me...please stop worrying aobut yourself and others and think more about me...thanks and keep thinking of me, often and more frequently if you can afford it, if you cannot think about me just a few minutes aday...thanks again, i'm thinking aobut you (but not much, or often)

  435. tipper Says:

stop being a lib. now you are enlightened

  436. Taz Says:

I echo that Righty! They are condeming Drudge for making things that aren't factual when they are the ones posting out of ignorance here because they can't pay enough attention to detail to realize Drudge isn't writing this stuff! He's just linking to it!

  437. VoiceOfReason Says:

All I can say is a BIG ROTFLMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Funny how on the 22nd libs couldn't get here and post fast enough but since the TRUTH has come out these self professed sole owners of the truth are no where to be found. I had to go back almost 200 posts to find a lib still parrotting the party line. But I got to hand it to you moonbats, you came out with a vengence. Much like you do ANY time ANYBODY comes out with ANYTHING remotely resembling a slam on the right. And frankly I am astounded that you peeps aren't over 2000 yet. I told my wife as that farce was transpiring and nobody would say it....but you got caught trying to steal and just like a toddler with his hand firmly ensconced in the cookie jar and with no other recourse, you come out swinging with all the righteous indignation you can muster. Al, aka the King of Moonbatiztan, LOST....move on.

I have to tell you and you can take it for what it's worth......look back and TRUTHFULLY assess the latest screeching, frothing, rabid attacks on who ever and tell me who came out on top.....the screecher or the screechee.....I think if you do you will see that until you put aside the petty, snide, acrimonius screeching attacks on anything that doesn't match up chapter and verse with your current playbook you will continue to be on the outside looking in. I have been married an awfully long time and I can promise that spousal screeching has done neither of us any good in any discussion.

And frankly from the folks who were damn near too stoned to protest and just wanted to hang out and get laid and have fun and love one another.....you newbies are awfully bitter. Peace signs, flower power and free love won it for you during Vietnam.....all this hatred is getting you nowhere. As one of your UBER mouthpieces, James Carville, said while trying to explain how the results he saw coming in showed Bush whooping your a** one more time......"We are going to have to seriously rethink our strategy". More prophetic words may have never been spoken.

Sorry I won't be back to read some of your, I'm sure to be, snappy retorts.....that lying rat bas*ard Drudge was linked here and was my only reason for this foray.

  438. SFC D Says:

That is true, they are funny! But hey, Where did they all go? I miss them already. Thank you Libs for making us laugh.......now just don't act so serious when you do that, OK.

  439. DumbDemy Says:

Consider this formal notification, I will begin procedures to sue every democrat in the United States, because I get tired of seeing them walk around with shit on their faces from having their heads up their asses all the time.

  440. Tim Says:

What a way to drive traffic to your site. Thanks to Drudge.

  441. Scott Says:

Hmm though when the liberals say something bad about a Republican it must be true and you will protest your life away to try to prove it's true; however, when something negative is said about a Democrat it is absolutly false and all the Republicans smear the Democrats. Give me a break, I hope Gore's movie fails just like his run for President. Yey for Bush, yey for freedom in Iraq. Boo to all you whinny liberals who have nothing better to do with their time then complain about everything. And college kids who protest the war, immigration and all need to get a clue try studying and getting somewhere in life rather then making the US look bad. And anyone who takes political advice from a celebrity, athlete, or musician is the biggest joke just like this website and moveon.org.

  442. Xprize Says:

Holy crap these people are morons. I can't even begin to describe all the BS on this Think Progess site. Look at their fact-challenged attack on this National Review article. Only 5 comments there at the moment. We should maybe add a few more?

  443. R W Says:

    Gorons --

AlGore barely graduated college and has no advanced degree in anything. PhD's in the subject matter in which he now professes to be an expert (ex: has been; spurt: drip under pressure) say 'Global Warming' is a computer model w/insufficiently accurate data input to date to determine anything. Want to decrease CO2? Stop breathing.

    Liberalism is a mental disease.

    Like France? Vote Democrat!

    Tolerance is not acceptance.

  444. brian Says:

Interesting site. Got to it through Drudge Report. Now I know why so many people find you lefties such whack jobs. Drudge is simply a clearing house for all articles and sources. Perhaps you all missed the Hastert story at the TOP of the page. So Gore was seen driving to his premere. Big deal. He probably has a busy schedule. Relax

  445. JC Says:

drudge report is a fantasticsite. shut it liberals, drudge always posts when he posted an error. may the drudge be with you

  446. Snowballin' Heaven Says:

My Reply to the Oxymorons @ thinkdigress.ugg

I wonder why the loony left has yet to achieve an equivalent success with a Drudge clone? Oh that's right...Ol' Dubya cut off all their stem cell research funding and I heard most of their disposable income goes to pay for the halcion daze they read about in their high school English lit classes.

    Piteously,
    Snowballin' Heaven

  447. Linda Shown Says:

Will you comment on ABC's false reporting on Dennis Hastert? This isn't the first time the Antique Media has misinformed the public on a REPUBLICAN...
Also, is Gore using any excess fuel as he travels around the WORLD promoting his ridiculous movie? I'm sure he doesn't travel in huge limos or SUVs or private jets with a large entourage. I'm also sure he lives in a small, fuel efficient house. Bottom line is he wants middle America to sacrifice, while he lives in luxury!!! It's all about power and money and fame for this guy...he could care less about the environment or he would walk the talk!

  448. David Says:

I love the hypocrisy of liberals. “Do as I say, not as I do” is their battle cry. Gore wants everyone to change their lives at his direction, while he flies first class around the world, attends fancy parties to talk about how special he is, and drives in entourage 500 yards in a fleet of SUVs. Kennedy wants to save the earth from fossil fuels, unless of course that means screwing up the view from his mega-estate in Cape Cod. Kennedy also wants to raise our taxes to “help the poor”, and then sets up elaborate tax shelters, at least one of which is located in Fiji, to shield his family’s ill-gotten booty. His son wants everyone to be treated equally, unless of course it’s him driving drunk at 2 am. Liberals in the halls of academia fight relentlessly for free speech, unless of course its speech they don’t agree with in which case they use violence to silence it. Michael Moore condemns “big corporations” then invests the money he receives from liberal dullards in Halliburton, Merck, Pfizer, Sunoco, Tenet Health Care, Ford, General Electric and McDonald's. Nancy Pelosi champions the cause of unions, then runs her $25 million Northern California vineyard as a non-union shop. Ralph Nader champions the rights of workers, then fires his own editor when he tries to form a union. George Soros also wants our taxes to be higher, because he keeps his money in tax-free overseas accounts in Curacao, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands.

It just goes on and on …. Seems to me that liberals simply break down into cold hearted hypocrites leading otherwise kind-hearted, but dim-witted dupes (yes, I mean you).

  449. EJ Says:

The DNC needs to eliminate the fraud preventing - detecting vote machines in Florida. For that matter, the rest of the country.

Election 2004 , Democrats lost millions of fraudulent votes if compared to 2000 when Bush had only a thousand more votes than Als fraud and legit votes were counted.

Al Gore will need to get Florida and Ohio back to punch cards that DNC ops can then stuff into the vote boxes again, like 2000. Just add a few thoudans more. One more handful of cards and Al would have won!

Its a small price to pay to get Al or any Democrat back into the white house. Do it!

  450. Steve Says:

How funny. The liberals CLAIM that Drudge has been "running this story, unsourced, all day' when, in FACT, he lists a source. The only difference is that, unlike the back-stabbing, lying, asinine liberals, Drudge (actually the Reuters story) didn't list the source by name. Liberals consistently lie about everything in an attempt to make their petty lives worth something. What a bunch of losers. Hopefully, they will someday remove their heads from Bill/Hillary/Gore/Kennedy's butts, quit breathing all that methane gas being released, get a breath of fresh air and realize that they are 100% wrong on everything everytime always.

  452. Brad Says:

I've really been noticing that the wingnuts come out in force, on any site that allows comments, as soon as a topic is posted that refers to President Gore.

Man, they are TERRIFIED of him! Of course, they'll do everything possible to ensure that Hillary is the nominee - they're her real base of support...

  453. JeffBAustin Says:

The headline IS still there, and it's just a link to a Reuters story that says Gore was seen driving to one event, and walking to another.

I would agree that he does have a much larger "carbon footprint" than any normal person - which is the point of mentioning the whole ting in the first place. He's a rich, white elite, just like any country club Republican you all disdain so much. He just makes his millions off your fear and insecurity, instead of honest business ventures.

  454. Bill Says:

    Gee...where start...

Everyone here accuses Drudge of making the story up...when every one knows Al Gore is the undisputed king of made up stories. He invented the internet (remember that one?), or he held his sister's hand as she died (he wasn't even in the room when she passed). In great shape for a man of 58??? Are you kidding me? He looks fatter now than he ever has...he should be walking EVERYWHERE! And of course, the wacko left can't stop crying about the 2000 election. It's 6 years later people! Build a bridge and get over it. I don't know of anyone who is "afraid" of AL Gore. The "inconvenient truth" (and only truth) about global warming is that it is happening and nobody really knows why. There is no scientific evidence that points to man as the cause. Theories, yes, but no EVIDENCE. But don't let that stop the king of "make it up as I go".

  455. Chaz Says:

All Gore is not exactly "carbon neutral" when he flies back and forth across the globe in private jets or sits his fat ass in the back of a stretch limo. Good for him burn that fossil fuel baby. And you IDIOTS who call Drudge a liar are insane! Do you actually even look at his site? Drudge was simply putting a link from REUTERS about the Gore story. Go crawl back into your little holes creeps

  456. Josh Says:

Drudge doesn't just make up stories on his site. They're links to actual reports. If you want to call someone a liar then save it for the Reuters. Their staff apparently has some "radical right-wing agenda" now. The stupidity of these liberal sites never cease to amaze.

  457. Tommy Says:

Al Gore is wrong now and has always been wrong. You remember when he claimed to have invented the internet? How about when he dragged the country through six weeks of hell in the 2000 election because he was a sore loser. I admire the president for completely ignoring the rantings of an alarmist who profits off of people's fears.

THE ALBORE IS A SAD PATHETIC EMBITTERED JEALOUS OF BUSH TWAT WHO NEEDS TO GRACEFULLY RETIRE TO A RESIDENTIAL WEIGHT WATCHERS PROGRAMME FOR BEWILDERED ECO-WACKO TN SLUMLORDS

  460. Sean Says:

OK all you liberal knuckleheads out there who think Drudge is right-leaning. I am here to tell you that he leans more left than right. Where he makes his money (and where he occasionally gets into trouble) is in breaking a story first (i.e., "scooping" the "mainstream" media). Sometimes in an effort to be first he jumps the gun.

Come on, get a thicker skin. Drudge has run many stories that are unfavorable to the Administration. Now, when the tables are turned even slightly, you liberals start having conniption fits. Sheesh!

By the way, whoever was calling Cheney "Chubby" should take another look at Algore. He isn't exactly slim. In fact, one might even call him Reubenesque. It looks like he has done far more traveling in his SUV and private jets and far less walking than he should have.

  461. Kent Says:

Al Gore is a complete fool. He uses energy like there is no tomorrow. How many cars does he have? Does he fly commercial? Does he use air conditioning? Does he travel by bike? Does he grow his own food to save on trasport costs? I don't think so. He is just a gasbag, his only contribution to energy independence. How does this fool suggest the economy operate?

Fortunately, there is no global warming, there is plenty of sources of usable energy that great companies like Exxon are delivering to us at reasonable prices, and there is no reason for anyone with a brain to worry about any of Al Gore's drivel.

  462. Frank Says:

now that you left wing nutz have been out posted fro 80 - 450 or so, shut up, get a life an ohyeh MOVE ON

    Gore is a fool!!!

  463. Mike Says:

This site has probably never seen this kind of traffic... You can thank my friend Matt for that... I am going to bookmark it, so that I can get a good laugh anytime I feel like it.

  464. SFC D Says:

Could someone please tell me where the LIBS have gone? I have been searching this post for them and they are no where to be found! Might it be the hint of truth and facts that have CHASED THE LYING FAT ASSES OFF!......Possibly

  465. Mike Says:

  466. Stinkin Liberal Asshole Says:

Oh my God! What moron would read this stupid page?
I have never read so many pathetic Liberal messages
in my life. Its like a strange Bubble full of morons
bouncing their pathetic thoughts off each other to
confirm their stupidity! Thank God you guys are
too pathetic to ever be in power again.

  467. Frank Says:

keep up the posting and maybe the voteing majority can crash this crappy site!

  470. Gary Says:

WTG Drudge. Keep the hypocrits on there toes.

  471. Richard Anderson Says:

Just goes to show you how big of idiots some people really are. The Drudge story was nothing more than a link on his website to a Reuters story. Drudge was not "making anything up" he only was providing a headline and link.

  472. David Kippford Says:

All of you need to learn to read and fallow links.

Drudge did not write the article that is on his site. He linked to a Reuters article that was written by a staff writer.

  473. Harry Knuckles Says:

    Smeared GORE!?!

UPDATE: At 3:38 PM EST, about an hour after this post, Drudge yanked the smear on Gore from his site.

IT'S ONLY A LINK AND IT IS STILL THERE!

You NEO-LIBS can't get anything right!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!

  474. Terry Says:

Read the story closer, geniuses. The story on Drudge is a link from Reuters. They are the source, not Drudge.

  475. sean Says:

Wow, almost every one of the 486 previous respondents is so dumb I am amazed you remember to breathe.

DRUDGE DID NOT WRITE THE STORY. DRUDGE LINKED TO THE STORY. THE STORY WAS WRITTEN BY REUTERS.

Even the title of this article is a lie, but then, thats about what can be expected of a "progressive" or a "liberal"...

I'd almost laugh, if you people weren't so sad. Keep blaming Drudge. You can have any ole reality you want to have in your minds. Its ok. get some rest.

  476. spacelady Says:

somebody please give me the duct tape... my head is about to explode!

  477. jerry Garcia Says:

I wish I had some of the drugs they are keeping Bush in line with. Bot He`s so friggin high he can barely talk. I guess thats the way the whole republiickan scam is held together. IMPEACH BUSH NOW, Before it`s too late. Oh yea, Steal your face right off your head.

  478. rich Says:

What a bunch of whiners you all are, Al Gore is unhinged and will never get anywhere near the west wing...

  479. Libertarian Says:

Hopefully these liberal pussies will be able to sell some advertising and pay taxes now, seeing as Drudge just put their web site on the map. You guys should send a kindly worded thankyou to Matt Drudge, and all of his brilliant work.

  480. John in Chicago Says:

Drudge is a closet self-loather, like a lot of the wingnuts, who feel the need to smear people because they cannot confront the facts.

Fact: Drudge published (did not LINK to it, published it himself) a story claiming that the DNC was actively working against Nagin's re-election. This was an outright lie, and Drudge was forced to retract the story less than 24 hours after he personally posted it.

Fact: Drudge **published** a story that claimed Gore drove a car 500 feet to the screening at Cannes. Again, completely false, and again he was forced to remove the story.

And that's just in the past 24 hours. There have been numerous instances of Drudge fudging the facts, distorting the facts, ignoring the facts, etc. But the kool-aid drinkers on the right lap it right up like the good little sheep that they are.

That's just the way the right wing works though, its nothing new.

They can't handle the facts about the Iraq debacle, so instead they slime anyone who brings up those "inconvenient truths".

The wingtards can't handle the facts about Global Warming either, so they make scurrilous claims about "the jury still being out" on a scientific theory that is accepted by 99.999% of the scientific community, or they turn to their core fundamentalist American-Taliban buddies who tell them they're all gonna get sucked up by Jesus and his Magical spaceship any day now, so why worry about the environment? Why worry about the defecit? Why worry about the Noo-Q-lur Korea? Why worry about any of those "inconvenient truths" when they believe they're all gonna be whisked away by Jesus. And you thought "70 Virgins" sounded ridiculous??

So let the wingtards live in their bubble. They'll never be convinced of the truth because they don't want to know the truth. They enjoy ignorance and self-loathing. They also are bed-wetters who think everyone from the Mexicans, to the rag-tag al Qaeda scumbags, to the movie stars, to the Union workers are all out to GET THEM. So please, please, they tell the Chimperor, "PLEASE take away my civil rights and mortgage my children's future as long as I can enjoy this false sense of security."

  481. LJ Says:

#494 sounds like an illegal immigrant...no wonder he's a liberal!

  482. Pete Says:

heh, now I'm guessing that Reuters is not a reliable news source? You wingbats are funny!

  483. Bill Says:

coments 1-80 or so stupid 80 - 492 the majority voters smart comments it seems the left is a bit outnumbered like in 200 and 2004!

    Gore if a FOOL!!!

  484. ryan Says:

Wow, the hatred on this forum is really amazing. You people need to celebrate diverstiy, be tolerant, and respect others opnions. In other words, you need to practice what you preach.

Oh, and John in Chicago needs to get a life. Hysterical, hate filled tirades only convince people that you are a fool incapable of rational thought.

  485. BigTyme Says:

You know, Drudge merely presents a page to see what is being reported. Its not like Randy Rhodes who spews vile every night on her show where I really think she makes stuff up out of whole cloth. In any event, I find it amazing that you liberals are so vehemently anti-Bush. I think that you should all take a step back, enjoy the tax refunds that you got (and I am sure all spent) and thank the republicans.

  486. rightwinger Says:

As obviously stated, Drudge didnt write the piece.

Maybe you people could try bringing up some facts like we do, they call us the right for a reason.

And speaking of the right... Can you people who agree with me kindly not resort to name calling? We are better than that, are we not?

  487. Bill Mathis Says:

Haha, the army of drudge idiots is out in full force I see.

Too bad they cant even get a simple fact like what Drudge actually posted on his site (not the story he has up now, what he originally posted himself about Gore going from the hotel to the screening). They're frothing at the mouth and yet, even though there's a conventient screen grab above proving the blatant hackery of Matt Drudge, they STILL can't get their story straight.

For you wingnuts I'll type nice and s--l--o--w so you might understand.

The link that is currently on drudge that goes to the Reuters story is about how Gore got from his hotel to Cannes headquarters, where he was staying at a hotel there. Had some stuff to bring along I'm sure, hence the need for vehicles, as the article states itself, all attendees arrive in cars to Cannes HQ.

Are you still with me, short-yellow-bus-wingnuts? The story Drudge ORIGINALLY posted (screen shot above) claimed Gore "drove 500 feet from his hotel to the screening" which is completely false. But Drudge never lets facts get in the way of a good sliming. Much like the rest of you mouthbreathers on the right.

You all hate academia. You hate science. You hate the truth. I wonder why?

  488. Terry Says:

Wrong again, 497. The article does points out that Gore did walk to the screening but took a car to other functions. The story is still posted on Drudge so you're wrong there, too.

  489. John in Chicago Says:

"Oh, and John in Chicago needs to get a life. Hysterical, hate filled tirades only convince people that you are a fool incapable of rational thought."

Thanks for proving my point Ryan, youre a sweetheart. Once again the Right wingtards fail to address those horrible things they are so afraid of. And, my science and education-hating friend, you and your ilk would not know a rational thought if it jumped into your gaping maw and bit you on your kool-aid stained tongue.

    Facts.

  490. Dan Says:

    Hey John in Chicago,

At least Drudge has the balls to publish his retractions with the same publicity that he erroneously reports. That's more than can be said for the New York Times.

  491. DS Says:

re: 499. To link to tcs.com is laughable! How pathetic! Do you know who is behind TCS?

Try reading the *science*. See http://www.realclimate.org for facts, not political spin on global warming. Anyone who believes in what TCS posts is absolutely, unequivovably clueless about science.

  492. Paul Says:

The problem with these debates isn't that 'liberals are trying to ruin America' or that 'conservatives don't care about the environment,' but rather that an aversion to actual debate is so prevalent on either side that virtually every argument turns into an ad hominem lib-con hate fest. The fact remains that there are scientists who believe that global warming is a threat, and those who believe it isn't, or doesn't exist at all. To say that there are scientists on your side and that proves that you're right is foolish and shortsided. What it DOES mean though is that a thorough analysis needs to take place (something that both republicans and democrats love to streamline so that they always get results suitable to themselves). So any liberal or convservative who attributes some great flaw of intellect to the other side without acknowledging that followers of your ideals are just as prone to myopia and unsupported arguments, and that there are brilliant people who will disagree with you, take a closer look and think before you speak.

And props to Sam for actually posting articles and sources.

  493. Jonathan Says:

Why don't y'all wait for a story to develop fully before saying that it does not come from a dependable source? The level of intellectual analysis on this forum is practically nill. This is what turns young voters like me off from the Democratic party. Although I like many Democrats and have many friends who are Democrats and/or Democrat politicians, I cannot morally cast my lot in with such a lot of whiny, unintelligent group that supports the national party. I am an independent until a third party is created that doesn't lend to such blatent idiocy like this forum or support such sleezes as Ted Kennedy (can you say Chapaquitic?), Robert Byrd (ex-KKK leader), or Jesse Jackson (can you say illegitimate children?). Please, Democrats - Form a party based on PRINCIPLES AND STICK TO THEM! It is the only way forward.

  494. San Ity Says:

"Last week, Gore and his team were seen driving the 500 metres or so from a hotel to the Cannes festival headquarters in several cars." - Reuters Mon May 22, 2006 11:33 PM IST

Sorry all you left wing nutjobs.

Gore got caught in his usual "Do as I say. . .Not as I do."

Actually, that's a pretty damn good slogan for you Democrats to run on.

At least it would be honest for a change.

  495. chipfaced Says:

Hey libs, why didn't your heros Clinton & Gore sign the Kyoto Protocol when they had the chance? I didn't here you whining about it then.

  496. DE--BUNKER Says:

Your beloved Reuters put it out there, my friends.

I find it interesting that in nearly every one of the posts on this forum, someone is calling a person they disagree with some kind of derogatory name. The hypocrisy is breathtaking- people who hold themselves above others as more compassionate, open minded, inclusive, blah blah blah, sound pretty hateful and angry to me. I guess you have to agree with a liberal in order to receive the benefit of his or her appreciation for diversity :)

  500. bark moonbat bark Says:

Ha ha, what morons! We're supposed to believe they know what they're talking about concerning the environment when they can't even tell the difference between the source of an article and a link to it?

Every night is a full moon night in moonbat land. It's the only way to explain their neverending insane rants. BARK MOONBAT BARK! Awooooooooo....ah ah awooooooo...

  501. Conservative Says:

You liberal idiots are pathetic. You wouldn't know the truth if it hit you in your tree-hugging faces. Typical leftist rhetoric...let's destroy our great nation inside out with filth, lies, and hypocritical double-talk.

  502. Richard Lawson Says:

It'd be wonderful if your readers would think before reacting but it's hard to break bad habits. Get the facts before becoming indignant--are you reading this Chicago John? Mr. Gore and friends did take non-carbon neutral vehicles to a screening but then on a seperate occassion took a short stroll.

  503. DudeLuv Says:

497 - 99.999% of scientific community? Where did you get this number? I'm seeing far more than .001% of the scientific community disputing the methods and conclusions of the global warming crowd.

505 - get over yourself, the story comes first with drudge, always has been that way, sometimes it's right, sometimes it's left, sometimes is completely off-base and incorrect. Unlike the mainstream, he does correct himself. It's the price you pay to be first. Hmm... ABC story on Hastert anyone?

  506. Reality Check Says:

I love seeing all these posts...it helps me sleep better at night. Knowing that all the leftwing, fantasy land freaks are still spending all their time and energy worrying about what the Conservatives are doing, instead of creating their own strategies, is comforting.

The right will always lead this country because liberals can't lead. The left has dwindled itself down to nothing but a bunch of finger-pointers and hate-mongers, pandering their politics to the latest minority with a gripe. Or inventing gripes for the minorities so they can steal their votes.

You guys keep trying to figure out the latest "right-wing conspiracy" while we all keep the country held together. Morons.

    God bless America.

  507. David Drake Says:

"Gore’s representatives, who unequivocally confirmed that Al Gore and his associates walked"....

really now, how trustworthy can his representatives be. Get a clue Liberals.

That biased Drudge, reporting what the Neocon organization Reuters reported

Yup, Drudge is so biased he left a link to this site on his site.
Otherwise I wouldn't hage wasted my time coming here to read all this Liberal pablum.

  510. I like hate Says:

I like to hate. This site is the best.
I hate Drudge. I hate Gore. I hate global warming. I hate people who fly all over the world in big airplanes and drive around in in a big bus to tell me how I burn too much fuel.
I love this site. Am I cured?

  511. Rick Says:

Gore has gotten huge. I saw him in person a couple weeks ago. He could use some walking and maybe a few less cheeseburgers. We should all pitch in and buy him a sigh-powered treadmill.

  512. Me Tarzan Says:

Even as a right winger, I'll concede that Gore has some points to make. But the question remains: How many hybrids does Team Gore drive? "Carbon neutral"? I doubt it.

  513. bizag83 Says:

Does Drudge pull his stories out of his a**?

    Comment by yankeluh — May 22, 2006 @ 2:35 pm

Hey Yankeluh - the story was posted by Reuters, you moon-bat kool-aid drinkin' left-wing kook!

And your hero Slick Willie had three full years to introduce the Kyoto Protocol to the Senate for a vote but chose not to.

Too pre-occupied with interns, I guess...

  514. drew Says:

How can Drudge saythat about the man that invented the internet!

  515. Sparky Says:

People, the original story this site is so upset with was Drudge's "claim" that Gore's group took 5 cars “500 yards from hotel to screening” rather than the Reuters report that Gore'g group took 5 cars “500 meters from hotel to Cannes festival headquarters”. If you choose to call that a smear or a lie, feel free. But let's be honest (you know what that is right), does the destination matter?

  516. Howie Says:

"Paramount has committed to making the entire tour promoting the film carbon neutral."
How did Al get to France, by kayak????

  517. Allyn Says:

This is simply amazing. Shame on Drudge, he said Gore drove to the screening when he should have said Gore and his entourage took several cars 500 meters to Cannes, rather than the screening. And for that somewhat subtle difference, hundreds of left wingers blast Drudge. By the way, can any of you who are so much smarter than I, explain how Gore can travel on a private plane with an entourage to Cannes, and yet the trip be "carbon neutral"? I presume that means that if they hadn't travelled to Cannes, they would have been flying elsewhere in the private plane, thus it was neutral.

John in Chicago claims 5 nines of the scientific community agree on Glabal Warming. Now really, 5 nines? I don't think so. You might be surprised to learn that while many people (not 99.999%) believe that there is warming (about 1 degree C in the last 50 years), there is widespread disagreement on the cause. Did you ever wonder how the earth evolved out of the ice age without man?

  518. linda Says:

#497...just a few comments and questions on your tirade:
    1. If Drudge has posted a comment based on the Old Media reports, he retracts it publicly
    2. Who is slimming the troops and our efforts to win the war in Iraq? Liberal hippies (by the way Saddam and the president of Iran would have made a pretty powerful and dangerous team)
    3. Show me where you get 99.999% of the scientific community support the global Warming THEORY
    4. What does Jesus have to do with Global Warming, the deficit, North Korea, or the 70 Virgins who remain virgins after they're not virgins
    5. How do you know all "Wingtards" enjoy ignorance and self loathing and are bed wetters?
    6. Which "Wingtards" are afraid of Mexicans, rag tag Al-Qaeda scumbags, movie stars, and union workers?
    7. So who is smearing whom because you, John, can't confront the facts?

John," You'll (they'll) never be convinced of the truth because you (they) don't want to know the truth."

    Love it!

  521. Nog Says:

Hey you "Useful Idiots" IT WAS ON THE WIRE (Reuters) DRUDGE PULLED IT FROM THE WIRE HE DID NOT MAKE IT UP. And remember "ThinkProgress contacted Gore’s representatives, who unequivocally confirmed that Al Gore and his associates walked from the Majestic Hotel to the screening at Cannes. Further, Paramount has committed to making the entire tour promoting the film carbon neutral"THIS IS ALGORE WHO INVENTED THE INTERNET SO WHATEVER HE SAYS MUST BE TRUE ?

  522. Erich Heino Says:

Good thing there that the last ice-age occurred before we humans became technological creatures. Otherwise, the ice would have melted and North America would have become habitable. Oh, wait a second! It did. Hmmmm. Al Gore might want to consider reading a book every now and then. Especially one he didn't write.

  523. walt brunkhorst Says:

Gore is a fat asshole and uses phony issues to gain attention to himself

  524. Ryan Says:

Concerning drudge posting erroneous facts, try reading the top line of the article where it says it's reported by Reuters.

Concerning globle warming, assuming it is in fact occuring, could it POSSIBLY be because the sun is actually getting warmer?

  525. Britanicus Says:

Most of the democratic party has been corrupted by the leftist-communist elements that wish to impose their form of fascism. When I studied political science in the 1970's, we were always taught that the core values of the democratic party were for social justice, racial equality, economic developed that enhanced the population's ability to raise a strong and healthy middle class and, of course, freedom of speech. Today, if anyone takes a stand against the leftist-communist element, they are shouted down and attacked much like the Nazi's did in the 1930's. If the truth is to emerge then all sides must be given the chance to have equal access to freedom.

  526. Dave C Says:

Al Gore is one of the biggest hypocrites of our time. Man is categorically NOT responsible for global warming, and in every instance where Man has attempted to control Mother Nature, he has failed miserably. The climate is cyclic; the Earth has had several ice ages, and each has receded independently of SUVs and the evil "big business." That global warming is caused by Man, and hence controllable by Man, is laughably absurd.

  527. common sense Says:

Al Gore is a vice president. Walking 500 meters through a crowded Cannes film festival poses a huge security threat and the secret services measures would be costly to the organizers.

Make an issue of his walking 500 yards...?

    Republicans can't govern. period.

  528. Clint Eastwood Says:

    Hey thoroughly disgusted (#415)
I am sure such an obvious intellectual as yourself ("How stupid can you people be?...get a life, get an education, get a clue") can write in complete sentences. Your post doesn't even make sense (I know such a trash, tabloid style new source /sarcasm much?!)

  529. Billy Says:

Ever heard the phrase Ice Age? Glaciers used to cover half of this country... Can one of you clowns tell me why they melted? Were the dinosaurs driving too many SUVs???

  530. Joel Says:

Gore may have walked from the hotel to the theater, but how much fuel did he burn getting from his home to the hotel. Probably several thousand gallons. Perhaps he should have attended via video from home and saved some fuel.

People, please give it up... Gore did not win in 2000. It's disapointing, but please move beyond that and prepare for achieving a Clinton vistory in 2008. Whining about 2000 does not change the outcome. Do something now to effect the 2008 outcome.

  531. karen Says:

Poor bitter DIMs. Still upset that DRUDGE outed the STAIN MAKER, Slick Willey. Get over it!!

  532. Brian Says:

i don't hink i've ever seen so many moronic whiny ignoramus posts in one thread anywhere before. you guys are amazingly lame.

  533. Bill Says:

YOUR dialogue at the top of this thread is NOT factual either. The Reuters report describes TWO movements from hotels to the festival venue. In one movement of 500m the Gore entourage DID use 5 vehicles. In a later, shorter movement he did walk.

Get YOUR story straight and YOU might have some credibility.

    Bill

  534. Jihad For USA Says:

Al Gore is a lazy press hungry idiot. I believe he drove a short distance burning holes in our ozone. Sad to say that he. as well as many politicians dont give two shits about this country nor the enviroment. His movie is a crock of shit and I am glad I downloaded it off line.

  535. Patrick Says:

How did Gore get to France? Steamboat? He is so hypocritical saying we should limit the use of fossil fuels but he can fly anywhere around the world. I am sure he walked from the airport to the Cannes.

  536. Dave C Says:

And liberals are incapable of rational thought.

  537. Tony Says:

See http://www.junkscience.com for a wake up call.

  538. Yours truly Says:

You guys crack me up. Especially the guy who faxed (!!!) Clinton... that he ignored your directive is sufficient proof that he's been coopted by the Rosicrucians.

    Carry on.

  539. Bob Says:

Attention Gore-heads: Please understand that Drudge merely linked to a Reuters story. Sorry but Drudge didn't lie, he simply linked. You guys know what that means right? He didn't report, he LINKED? Reporting is what ABC does when they put out a story that the House Speaker is under investigation even when they have absolutely no evidence.

  540. Josh Says:

LOL! Gore is a joke. His whole global warming movie is a crock of spin. Anybody with 1/2 a brain (which apparently he doesn't have) can look at climatic temp chages over a long period of time and they acn see that the earth goes through cycles.. Remember global cooling 30 years ago? Political propaganda for the feeble minded...

There is a reason why a large % of Dems are 18-30 year olds.. Not in touch with reality and uneducated. Quit believing movies made by Moore or Gore.. It's just spin made to make money off you or to get you to vote their way...

  541. Jimmy Carter Says:

My cocksnot leaves a HUGE carbon footpring!

  542. Jeff P Says:

Why don't people teleconference more often? When you're at these big events, you usually watch the person speaking on the big screens unless you're in the front rows.

  543. Lude Creamer Says:

Get more with Gore. More BS

  544. Jimmy Carter Says:

My cocksnot leaves a HUGE carbon footprint!

  545. Geoff Says:

Now I know why all you lefty moonbats are so in favor of illegal immigration. Illiterate, uneducated immigrants are the only ones who will fall for your insipid, communist, anti American agenda. Normal, intelligent Americans will not buy it.

    TANCREDO FOR PRESIDENT!!!

  546. Brent Says:

Gore and his crowd of cronies are all a bunch of losers. He's a hypocrite just like most all politicians. When will people learn that everyone in politics follows the money!

  547. Sandra Says:

563 comments raking Drudge over the coals and noone seems to notice that this story came from Reuters not from Matt Drudge. Good grief.....a bunch of rabid liberal much for brains democrates.

  548. dembluestates Says:

Know-nothing rethuglycan't scumbags swarmout of the rotten Drudge woodwork as soon as someone hits them with a stick.

    Keep hitting, THinkProgress, keep hitting.

We got the can of whupass to spray them with right here, LOL!!

Colbert: "Reality has a LIBERAL Bias!!"

  549. Scott Says:

    Erroll:

Gore did not concede, at least not willingly. In fact, he only conceded when all his legal options ran out. He did this country great damage by what he did. Only third world countires have campaign opponents who act in such a manner. And it made our country look like a third world country. How did it all start? Oh, yeah, the ballots were confusing which then went to the chad business which had been used successfully by the Democrats to overturn congressional races. The law in Florida was that a ballot had to be machine readable. However, even with all the chad business Bush won every single recount. The media themselves went down to Florida and recounted the ballots every which way and Bush still won (which of course never got widespread coverage). Gore had the ballots being counted whichever way would benefit him setting up different standards in different counties. He did not call for every county to be re-counted. Nor did he want the military absentee ballots counted (despite "every vote counts"). Even the press tried to do what they could for Gore by calling the state early for him...many Republicans in heavily conservative counties in the panhandle never voted secondary to that. All Gore did was attempt to divide the country along racial lines, attempt to delegitimize a legitimate race, a make America look foolish in the end. The true test of character and sportsmanship comes when you lose. Gore's character was self-evident. Scott

  550. The Anti-Gore Says:

Gore couldn't even win his home state of Tennessee when he ran for President. What does that say about the guy?

Thank God Mondale & Dukakis disappeared when they got their asses beat back in the 80s. Kerry & Gore should study history.

  551. icerat Says:

Good god, reading some of these posts has made me have to rethink the fundamental intelligence and education of the average "right wing" american. Unbelievable.

  552. David Woosley Says:

Drudge currently has a link to THIS BLOG and everyone's nasty comments about him personally. Say this about Mr. Drudge: He accepts his criticisms as well as he dishes them out.

  553. I like hate Says:

    Seriously though...
Has anyone here got the guts to thank Drudge for linking to this page?
It appears to me that he got advanced notice of a report that claims Gore drove a short distance while in Cannes.
He made a mistake about when the driving took place and has since corrected it. He even linked to this site to show the massive damage done to Gore's reputation.
I mean, let's face facts...the average poster here would love Gore and defend him to the death even if the original story were true. I suppose the worry is that he will somehow be less endearing to all of the W supporters.
Now, I leave so that you can get back to name calling, vile spewing and your conspiracies.

  554. MickT Says:

I'm sure ThinkProgress.org is in favor or nuclear power... right?

  555. Steve Says:

If Al Gore hadn't invented the internet, none of you fools would be reading this! I love the guy who claimes Gore won in 200.
