MSNBC’s David Schuster: “It’s now been 26 days since Rove testified to the grand jury for the 5th time. Defense lawyers say prosecutors remain focused on Rove’s claim of a bad memory regarding a conversation with Time magazine reporter Matt Cooper. Rove’s legal team and former prosecutors tracking the investigation expect Patrick Fitzgerald to announce a decision at any time. … The CIA leak grand jury is scheduled to meet again this Wednesday.”
As has been repeatedly pointed out, the grand jury is scheduled to meet every Wednesday and Friday, and it serves multiple prosecutors, not just Fitzgerald’s CIA leak case. Come on, guys.
May 22nd, 2006 at 8:04 pmGo to jail, don’t pass Go, don’t collect $200.
Goodbye to the most evil person in politics.
May 22nd, 2006 at 8:07 pmthere is a God!
May 22nd, 2006 at 8:16 pmLets hope Abu Gonzales doesnt swoop down and overrule Fitz….
Its a very real possibility
and it would be political suicide for this Admin in retgards to Independent voters
May 22nd, 2006 at 8:20 pmAgain with the adrenaline surge! You people are wrecking my limbic system. Let me know when the frog is served.
May 22nd, 2006 at 8:24 pmThe only way AG can stop Fitz is to fire him and were he to do that it would certainly be an admission of culpability. Fitz, however, is really taking a long time on this and after last week’s rumors on the internet, the suspense is wearing. If after all this time and all the rumors and speculations, Rove had better be indicted!!
May 22nd, 2006 at 8:38 pmBush will only pardon the bastard.
May 22nd, 2006 at 8:41 pmI am not holding my breath about Rove being indicted by Fitzgerald, because Dubya Dunce Decider will pardon Karl when it becomes neccessary to do so! Bush himself had Rove out Valerie Plame Wilson to the press, so George should be the one indicted!
May 22nd, 2006 at 8:55 pmI hope the whole investigation takes enough time, so that we can impeach the chief monkey first and put the rest of these criminals in jail. This way no one pardons nobody and the world would be a better place.
May 22nd, 2006 at 9:13 pmLib4 that is exactly the reason Gonzales was hired , unfortunatly.
May 22nd, 2006 at 9:18 pmSimply. I hate Rove.
May 22nd, 2006 at 9:23 pmWas the source Truthout?
May 22nd, 2006 at 9:31 pmRove = owned.
Take my word for it.
Ill see you in a few days when it becomes news.

May 22nd, 2006 at 9:42 pmWait, if Rove is indicted who is going to smear all the Democrats for the 2006 elections? The Terrorism capital seems to be spent, no one really cares about the Gay marraige thing and the immigration fear really hasn’t gained any traction.
If Rove cannot work… Bush is going to have to run on his record. This cannot be happening. Luckily it is hurricane season pretty soon. I’m sure he can bounce back from another Katrina. Then we won’t have to worry about those bastard democrats gaining control of the house and investigating the administration. Those scumbags.
May 22nd, 2006 at 9:45 pmHmph. We heard all this over a week ago. It was supposed to be Fitzmas, but all we got was a Fitzle.
I also want to know… is the source truthout? They’re really racking up a great track record here.
Later,
May 22nd, 2006 at 9:51 pmWake me up when September ends.
May 22nd, 2006 at 10:00 pmI’ll believe it when it actually happens.
May 22nd, 2006 at 10:16 pmWho knows maybe Fitz has been toying with the ol Turdblossom. You think the suspense is killing you, imagine how its killing Turdblossom. He’s lost a lot of weight and I doubt he’s decided to go on a diet.
Jay Randall, I agree with you, Bubble boy will pardon him after the conviction.
Meanwhile, Rove is out of the White House and hopelully the stress kills him. We can always hope.
May 22nd, 2006 at 10:25 pmTurdblossom may need some Tuck’s pads really soon.

May 22nd, 2006 at 10:36 pmNo wonder Bush could commit 751 crimes and steal an election twice as well as put the United States in dept of $9 trillion dollars. After reading the comments from the adult voters on this board it makes since. When Judge Walton sealed the indictment
May 22nd, 2006 at 10:42 pmit was because Rove was indicted. Legally Rove was given time to put his affairs in order and try to work out a possible lower sentence by giving the Prosecutor information helpfull to the case. If Rove wasn’t indicted there would be nothing to seal. Journalist like Tweety Bird Chris Matthews and Katie Couric have spinned/blamed /lied to the public and I guess it worked. Most Americans are clueless as to the fact our country is being run by the true axis of evil and we’ve being robbed blind as Bush say stay the course. Wait up people Rove is tell on Cheney and all hell will brake loss as Bush resigns before an impeachment hearing starts.

May 22nd, 2006 at 10:57 pmPost 20 a nice scenario and I hope it turns out that way!
Post 18 I hope Rove gets ill thinking about being indicted!
May 22nd, 2006 at 10:59 pm#20 Very interesting. I am unaware of the anything being sealed..
Keep talking, you’ve got my attention.
May 22nd, 2006 at 11:08 pmHas it occured to anyone that the REAL TARGETS of the CIA Leak Investigation may in fact be Cheney and GW? As more material comes to light, it seems entirely possible that they could be broutght to task on charges of treason.
Assuming that Libby/Rove trials do not drag on past the 2008 elections – Bush will pardon Rove/Libby thereby insuring his impeachment after the mid term elections. Possibly even before, as it would be a good way for the Republican seats in jeopardy to redeem themselves.
The handwriting is on the wall. No one thought Nixon was in hot water, when the initial Watergate story appeared buried in the second section of the Washington Post. Mark my words here, Patrick Fitzgerald will end up immortalized with his image engraved on an american coin before this is all over. I think he deserves The Presidential Medal of Freedom also. This is David and Goliath all over again …. The Bush Administration is so corrupt that I doubt many will be spared the axe.

May 22nd, 2006 at 11:11 pmJackie, tell me more about the sealed indictment. So many people here have jumped down TruthOut’s throat for bad reporting. (They reported that Rove was given time to get his affairs in order and since the MSM is not confirming this TruthOut is getting trashed)
Got any links you can share. I want to believe you. I trust TruthOut and never thought for a moment that they mislead us.
Its sad that Dems turn on one another as often as the pugs do.
May 22nd, 2006 at 11:15 pmRove will be indicted, Fitzgerald is just making absolutely sure he has him by the short and curlies as he knows how sneaky, slippery and manipulitave Rove is.
Bush will likely consider a pardon, however he does so as his own peril as contravertial pardons tend to make popularity plummet, especially when it appears that the individual is guilty and being pardoned for political purposes which is a perversion of the pardon powers.
Hopefully by the time he even has time to think about it Bush will be neck high in investigations and oversight in the 5 years of abuse and corruption and lawlessness.
If Democrats win the house, he could be in the shit as soon as January
May 23rd, 2006 at 12:37 am#25 My advice to you is to ask any attorney that passed the bar what it means when a Judge seals the decision. If you don’t know an attorney go to web site firedoglake.com I copied it for you:
I talked a little bit about legal questions that I had on this in comments the other day, but I wanted to reiterate one in particular here: when you have a “sealed indictment,” it is sealed — as in not publicly available — for a reason. We used them a lot in drug conspiracy cases, where you had evidence of lower level people but were still working the investigation up the chain, and you would indict a lower level dealer when you had evidence on them, seal the indictment so as not to tip off higher level dealer/distributors, and then unseal the entire batch of indictments if and when you completed the investigation or you had to make an arrest on someone you thought was going to flee the jurisdiction.
Once you talk about an indictment that is under seal with anyone, you break that seal and the information contained within the indictment can become public. Which, frankly, defeats the whole point of having a sealed indictment in the first place
That’s what sealed means. Fitzgerald will announce it at a press conference this week.
May 23rd, 2006 at 1:42 amI hate to be the naysayer, but I think you people are holding your breath for no real reason. Rove is too insulated, and entrenched to be brought down at this point.
May 23rd, 2006 at 2:59 amHe is not going to be indicted, it is obvious. Wasn’t it supposed to happen last week? Nothing came of it. Rove always escapes even though he is likely guilty of something. Fitzgerald is still on the Bush payroll and he knows that if he were to indict Rove, it would be big in bringing Bush down to his knees and he won’t do it because he obviously feels sorry for him and wants him to continue to screw the American people. And you should also remember, Rove was going to be indicted along w/ Libby the first time but escaped the last minute when he gave last minute testimony that was petty and useless but still got him off. He and his lawyer probably are doing the sweet talk to Fitzgerald now, kissing his ear and he’s probably a sucker and falling for it.
May 23rd, 2006 at 6:05 amWhatever…
May 23rd, 2006 at 7:47 amI’d much rather Rove be innocent.
If he is NOT indicted wouldn’t that mean our system is broken? If Rove and Cheney can out a CIA opperative when we are in the middle of an invasion… I mean war on Terror, doesn’t that mean that no one is accountable for anything?
May 23rd, 2006 at 7:50 amPost 32 yes the criminal justice system in America is severely damaged > that is what happens when a dictatorship comes into existence! Hitler destroyed laws and justice in Germany and Bush is doing the same in America now!
May 23rd, 2006 at 8:57 amPost 31 I mean!
May 23rd, 2006 at 8:58 amEven if Rove is indicted, he will stay on in the Gray House as the chief political advisoer for King Bush.
May 23rd, 2006 at 10:09 am#24
I hope to God Almighty that you are right. It sounds too good a scenario to be true.
May 23rd, 2006 at 11:18 am#24: I think [Fitzgerald] deserves The Presidential Medal of Freedom
I think he deserves a lot better than that. Perhaps someday there’ll be a Presidential Medal of Freedom Version 2, completely distinct from the Presidential Medal of Failure that Tenet and other suckups have been getting.
May 23rd, 2006 at 8:30 pmWhere’s the Deep Throat when we need it most?
